Vampires, Werewolves and all things evil have appeared time and time again throughout folklore. Which is exactly why people think they aren't real. But they are. And they're closer than you think. It is 1986, in a small mountainous town in western America, and reportings of strange occurrences are on the rise for the first time in 600 years. People have begin disappearing overnight, things have been seen running as fast as cars along a road before turning invisible. Animalistic humans have been sighted in a forest just outside the town, and for some reason, the town mayor seems to be mortally afraid of the dark, and has had huge sunlamps installed in every room of his house.
This is because this is the first true Blood Moon in 600 years, which is only visible in a few select spots around the world, and is the cause of gatherings of vampires and monsters from far and wide. The town is named Bedrock, and it is one of just 24 locations across the globe where the Blood Moon can be seen. It follows a typical american style town plan, arranged neatly around a central point. This central point is a small chapel which every creature of the night avoids like the plague. The town has a railway at the east edge which links it to a larger city, Churchtown, whose most prominent feature is a huge gothic cathedral that has been there since before any records can tell. To the west, a huge forest precedes a small mountain range, which isn't even tall enough to have snow covered peaks. The ground is relatively dusty, and the grass cover is only light. The town's main export is occult literature and trinkets, and most of it's income is due to tourists who come for the long history of haunted buildings. The forest is said to have the second highest suicide rate of anywhere in the world, beaten only by Aokigahara, near Fujiyama (whose "suicides" are actually murders committed by the mountain's resident ghosts.)
There are only a few key locations in Bedrock, where vampires are concerned anyway. Firstly is the vampire's Haven in bedrock - a 2 story tavern situated in the north of the town, named The Enclave, after the legend of the Three Witches of Bedrock. Secondly is The Tower - a 15 story building located in the south of the town. It has a very alien feel to it. It is painted monochrome black and has a futuristic feel to it's architecture. Finally is the satyrically named "Castle". It is a smaller tower, only 10 stories that functions like a hotel. The top 2 floors are reserved as a penthouse for the region's Vampire Prince. (see below)
There are 3 main kinds of supernatural which will be playable. I'm sure you all know what Vampires, Werewolves and Wizards are. Not the twilight or modern kind of vampire though, they're the more traditional kind.
There was originally only one vampire, cursed by a deity in the time of ancient Judea. His name was Cain and he serves as the father of all vampires. Only Cain is a generation 1 vampire. Each increase in generation, a vampire will be weaker. Only by defeating and cannibalising the corpse of an older vampire can they become stronger. Cain had 6 children, each of whom became the master of one of the Great Vampire Clans. Clans tend to spread out across the world, but instantly can recognise another of their clan regardless of generation or sire. (Your sire is whoever gave you vampirism. Vampires don't age, so a sire will usually always look older than an offspring.)
The main clans:
There are also stray vampires who, while their sire belongs to a clan, they choose to roam nomadically rather than tie themselves to any family.
Each region has one prince. Usually a prince gains power by himself by being stronger than any other vampire in the region. Any vampire may challenge the prince, and if they win in fair combat, the challenger becomes the new prince. However, some vampire princes are selected by a council based on who would be best for the region, so if a challenge is declared, the entire council may fight, as is the case for Bedrock and the surroundings. The Bedrock domain is small, containing only Bedrock, the forest and the mountains. Churchtown, 30 minutes away by train, has another prince who is a close friend of Bedrock's.
Vampires are the most politically aware of the supernatural trio, so are in control of the supernatural side of the world. Werewolves are werewolves. Very strong and prone to transforming into a wolf-like creature. They are very aware of nature, and the nearby forest is one of their routes through which they move their spiritual pilgrimage. The Wizards have little care for the ways of the world, so tend to leave the vampires be. They have stronger magic than the Minds, and some wizards are so powerful they can manipulate time and matter directly. However the most common form of magician are "alchemists". These are people who use the concept of equivalent exchange to transform one thing into another thing of equal value (see Fullmetal Alchemist).
Who are you? A vampire? A Werewolf, a wizard? Maybe you're even yet another spiritual race. Whatever you are, you felt a tug on you a few months ago to travel to Bedrock, and so, here you are. Note that it is customary for a supernatural to introduce themselves to the local Prince upon arrival. Not doing so is considered rude and this prince is rather known for his intolerance of impolite people. The Enclave, the haven of vampires, offers free basement coffins for vampires to sleep in, as well as free blood, however, other races can enter the tavern, including humans, and the bartender himself is also a human, so if you need blood, you must ask for "That magnificent red tea". The Haven is accepted as the only place in the town that is safe for vampires to be in. No fighting is allowed inside, and this rule is obeyed by all vampires and other people who enter. Know this though. There are human organisations opposed to the supernatural, and they probably anticipated the influx of supernaturals due to the Blood Moon...
Characters:
When making a character, keep in mind that the longer they have been a vampire, the more prone they are to frenzy, and the more often they have to go into a century long hibernation. Also, keep in mind that the smaller the generation number, the stronger they are. If a new vampire is created they are instantly one generation younger than their Sire, so if I were a gen 7 and I made a new vampire, they would be gen 8. In order to control outbursts of vampires, Princes often order their lackeys to hunt down and destroy those who make too many offspring. There are also things known as Thralls, which are basically half vampires. They work just like humans do, but they age slower and are loyal to the sire that created them. They have no other vampire effects, though. They can go out during the day, they can eat normal food, and they don't get super strength or anything like that. For now, maximum of 2 characters per person, and they cannot be of the same species unless they're related. (For example, a sire and their offspring, a vampire and their thrall, a wizard and their apprentice.)
Name:
Age: (both actual age and how old they were when they were created)
Generation: (Lower generations are less likely to be accepted, since I don't want too many OP characters. By lower, I mean anything below 10. The youngest you can be at this point is 14.)
Appearance: (I'd prefer an anime image or a description, but other artworks are acceptable. Real life images are an absolute no go though.)
Species: (If you make a new supernatural race, make a spoiler and put in details about that race. Note that all supernaturals start off as humans. You cannot be born as a supernatural.)
Clan: (If applicable)
Personality: (Give a short paragraph. Just listing a few words doesn't give much of an idea as to what they're like.)
Backstory: (Where they came from, who they used to be, which village they terrorised.)

The main clans:
Ferals are your typical vampire. Super strength, super speed. They have relatively average ability to control their blood, so they are quite prone to Frenzying (That is, going insane due to lack of blood.) They are the ones that usually reveal themselves most often, and make the most children. They are the most common clan. They are most friendly with the Patterned clan, and are disliked by the Mind and Mask clans.
Patterned are quite rare. They aren't particularly strong, but their celerity (speed) is phenomenal. They are rather spontaneous and unpredictable and incredibly energetic. They're usually the ones that become vampires for fun rather than necessity. They are on good terms with the Ferals and Masks, but the Minds find them rather intolerable, as do the Gilded.
The Masks are very mysterious. They appreciate the occult almost as much as the Minds, and are masters of illusion and deception. They often grant their power to great assassins and this way, control mass politics of the human world. They are on good terms with the Mind and Patterned clans, but the Feral and Gilded clans do not trust them.
The Gilded clan is a very highbred clan. Few are created, and they are relatively weak in comparison to the Feral's strength or the Mind's magic, but they have an excellent mind for organisation and politics and are often elected to be princes and barons. They make very good leaders. They are on superficially good terms with every clan, because if they were on bad terms with any clan it could cause rioting. They do not trust anyone based on clan alone though, and prefer to know the individual. They are on best terms with the Eyes clan, since Eyes can be of great help to the Gilded when making decisions.
Eyes are quite reclusive and can remind people of witches and soothsayers. They lack strength and numbers, but they have the ability to see the future. This future tends to be blurry and rather riddle-like, but it can be incredibly useful. They can only see a few possible futures, as there is no one true future. They are on good terms with the Gilded and Twisted clans, and bad terms with the Ferals, who have been the cause of a lot of issues in the past.
The twisted are descendants of the vampire Nosferatu. They are considered the "runt of the litter". Their strain of the vampire curse causes horrendous aesthetic mutations as well as limiting brain function. They are seen essentially as slaves by the other clans, since they know no different. They are much weaker to sunlight and everything else than the other clans. They are on good terms with the Eyes and Mind clans, but despise the others.
The Mind clan are not really considered true vampires, since they were not the creation of one of the spawn of Cain, and they came into existence during generation 4, rather than 2. Originally, the Mind clan were wizards who were experimenting in immortality, and accidentally gave themselves vampirism. They have low physical abilities but make up for it in magic. They are on good terms with the Twisted, since, like the eyes, they can use magic to see through their physical limitations, and they are on good terms with the Masks since they share a common love of knowledge and magic. All the other clans are still suspicious of the Minds though, even 3000 years later.
There are also stray vampires who, while their sire belongs to a clan, they choose to roam nomadically rather than tie themselves to any family.
