The Animal Within

Vex tore off at an extremely high speed, weaving through cars and dodging onlookers. He was a pro driver, after all he'd been driving since Mr. Ford gave him one of the first model T's. His car was a stickshift and he was shifting it at inhuman speeds. He stayed straight faced and then turned the music down.

"I haven't been exactly truthful with you. Ingrid has a very good reason to be after me. I stumbled on something I shouldn't have. She's trying to eradicate humanity. I found out about it and now she wants me dead. She's gathering soldiers and other creatures. I need an army to fight her. I have to stop her. The club has people who could help me raise an army. In particular, a man named Luther. He's half demon, half warlock. I need him."

Peter arrived at his headquarters. A cave underneath a public library which no one knew about but him and the librarian, who also happened to be his best friend. "Hey there Peteyo!" She said joyfully welcoming him back as he entered. She was a pretty black haired girl with pigtails dangling from the sides of her head and had eyes the color of redwood and skin as soft as that of a baby. Her name was Angela and she was the same age as Peter, but looked about a year older. Her parents were killed by a vampire in front of her eyes when she was no older than sixteen , and Peter had taken her in since then. Peter looked at her usual goth-like apparel and smiled, "still wearing the same black clothes Angie? I might have to buy you some new ones soon." he said laughing at the irony of the situation. She hated vampires but wore their clothes, it was just too incomprehensible for a man of his mentality, but he loved her too much to show it, after all, she was the closest thing to a family he had. "Your usual drink and book sire?" she joked pretending to be his butler and poked his cheeks.

Peter gave her a faint smile and took his cloak off, leaving nothing on but a pair of pants and a few bandages that wrapped his torso, in addition to the mouth mask. He then pushed a few buttons which opened a door that was hidden behind a book cabinet. The door lead to a well lit chamber which lead to the cave. It was only a two minute walk downstairs. The purpose of that chamber was merely to conceal the existence of the cave and its secrets from any curious trespassers.

After making sure no one was following him, he closed the door of the cave behind him and clapped his hands. "Welcome back Sir" said an electric-like voice. It was his main computer, Jar. Peter took out the scanner from earlier and plugged it in a socket. "Analyze this DNA and come up with a formula for an antibody." said Peter and sat down on a rocking chair with his legs extended in front of him and his hands behind his neck. He grabbed a mug of coffee Angela had prepared for him earlier and waited for Jar to finish.

Leaning back agaist her seat and closed her eyes, smiling at the high speeds he drove with as he always had. But it didn't take long before she realized he was talking again about not being truthful. He lied to her? Sylvia's expression grew dark and her eyes flew open to glare at him. Listening intently she raised an eyebrow before speaking herself. "When were you going to tell me this vex?" She growled a bitas as she turned away from him before exhaling loudly. She looked back to him and said with a breathy voice, "its fine, you told me now. Guess we better find him then. And quickly. I forgive you because I owe you for letting me drink from you. But seriously vex... When you did that, what were you thinking?! I was hungry enough that I might have drank you dry but with how you get you wouldn't dare stop me! What if I hadn't pulled away? What if I killed you?"

She closed her eyes and just tried to let herself calm down. "Sorry..." She pushed the back of the seat back so she could lay down. Sylvia slowly eased backwards against the seat and stared at the roof of the car with an empty, lifeless expression. Her eyes were a soft gray and ironically she looked the least like a living creature with a beating heart when she was well fed.

After a few coffee sips and a short nap, Peter woke up to Jar's voice "DNA scanning complete, Antibody created sir." Peter smiled and read the formula carefully. He did not want to miss a thing, because this discovery, was going to be a killer, Literally!
It was a formula to eradicate vampires, or at least bring them back to their human form...in other words, they would be stripped of their powers, they would no longer hunger for blood and would no longer be immortal, meaning their true age will rise to the surface.
Peter spent the whole night working on the formula, sweat dripping down from his forehead, steam emitting from chemical reactions and bits of chemical elements flying around. It was a sight that brought back Angela, who was watching him from the distance, memories, memories of when he was happy and worked hard to protect her and his girlfriend.

The sun had finally risen when Peter wiped the last drop of sweat from his forehead and held the final product in his hands. He lifted the test tube up in the air and looked at it proudly. A reddish liquid, almost as red as blood resided at the bottom of the tube. "With this, i shall put an end to the suffering of all vampires!" He said as he put the antidote in a silver case and locked it with a special laser lock.

Vex pulled into the club parking lot and turned off the vehicle. He turned his head toward Sylvia and sighed.

"What I was thinking? You wanna know what I was thinking? I was thinking that maybe you would kill me. I was thinking that maybe my life would finally be over. I'm sick of living. Watching over these humans and patrolling the streets and hunting things. It's tiring I'm miserable. The humans are scum. They don't deserve my protection and when I finally think I can get away from it and just not care anymore, my heart kicks in and I realize I am their only hope. So I was hoping that you'd kill me and end my eternal suffering."

Vex pushed open his door and wiped the tears from his eyes and stormed off towards the night club entrance. He hated everything. Sometimes he wished he had the power to eradicate every human and every creature. However, at the same time he loved every creature. They all had different stories and experiences. Different personalities and families. It intriguied him.

Sylvia frowned and shook her head at his response, opening the door and rushing after him, "Vex... Wait up!" Sylvia ran up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, "Vex, I never want to hear you say that again. I don't understand why you help them, probably never will but it makes you a better person than me. Ive never cared once about their lives. Truth is... They don't deserve you but you help them anyway. Hell... I probably don't deserve you, but you have gotten me through so much. Don't you dare ever talk about not wanting to live anymore!"

She released him and sighed, "we are going to go in there and they won't be too happy that I'm here just because of my last... Visit..." She gulped, vex hadn't been here the last time she came and she was happy he wasn't. People used her as an example that vampires were merely brainless bloodthirsty beasts and they did a good job of persuading to the creatures that it was true. Sylvia inhaled sharply sharply before continuing "So I think it will be best if I stay out here. Okay?"

Peter grabbed his GPS , the silver case and his hooded coat, and kissed Angela on the cheeks on his way out. The library door chimed shut behind him as he covered his head again. He walked to a garage behind the library where a motorcycle resided. "Long time no see baby." he said with a funny smile on his face looking at the bike. With a few rubs to the seat and a few twists to the key, he ignited the engine and took off at a very high speed. The noise of the engine was extremely loud. So loud that it caused everyone in the neighborhood to turn on their house lights.
He kept an eye on the beeping signal of the GPS while maneuvering around the other vehicles in the street.

"Wow, Vex, i thought you would be smart enough to notice the bug i planted on you, but it is still there." said Peter with a sarcastic giggle. He didn't expect the GPS to still beep, but there it was, beeping and louder than ever.

Vex looked at Sylvia quizzically. Why did she stick by him? Weren't there other people out there that would let her be free and kill who she wanted? If she hated the humans so much then why not leave him and go kill till her hearts content? Vex then looked at his coat jacket and noticed a bug placed on his clothes. He dropped it to the ground and smashed it.

"Very well. When i talk about wanting to die. I'll make sure you don't hear it." He smiled at his witty statement and then looked at his watch. "Stand gaurd out here. If anyone comes alert me immediantly. No matter who it is. I want to know asap. I believe Peter placed a bug on me. Be careful. You have my permission to seize him. Do not kill him though. Oh, and don't die."

He winked at her and then walked to the door of the nightclub that was formally a church and raised his hand to the bouncer. A sigil engraved in it appeared and glowed blue and the bouncer snapped his fingers and the double doors opened and loud metal music was blaring from the inside. Vex walked into the club and was making his way through the crowd until a circle formed and he was left standing in the middle. Five men entered the circle and surrounded him Only, they weren't men. They were demons. Their eyes switched from red to black and then back to red again. They licked their lips in unison and Vex drew a small, black, 7 inch object from his jacket. He pressed a button and blade sprung out from it and was glowing white. The first two demons lunged at him with their claws and Vex ducked to the ground and swung his sword in a circle, cutting both demons across the stomach. As soon as the blade touched them, a white light shone from the eyes, mouth, and all other openings and they turned into piles of dust. Vex jumped into the air and threw his sword at the next demon and implanted it right into his head. He then drop kicked the demon coming up behind him and opened his hand and the sword flew from the ash and into his hand. He stood over top of the demon and dropped his sword with the blade facing his heart. He used the palm of his hand to push the hilt straight into his heart and the demon was reduced to ash. the last one was more tricky. He opened his hand and fire grew from it. He threw a fireball at Vex and he casted a last minute spell to eat the fire and then spat it back at the demon. He used that for distraction and ran straight at the Demon and before the demon could defend himself, Vex slit his throat and did a quick 360 and when he realized no one else was coming to attack him, he shrank his sword and put it back in his Jacket. The music stopped and a demon girl with stark white skin, black hair, black lace stockings, long heel boots, a black mini skirt, and a white tee that said bite me came on stage and spoke into the microphone.

"Thank you for waiting patiently, Mr. Hazelcroph. Luther will now see you. Please follow me."

She then walked off stage and the crowd split up for Vex to follow her. He ran after her and they walked through a set of double doors down a long dimly lit hallway.

Sylvia frowned at his comment and only nodded when he told her to stand guard. Her frown grew when he said peter had bugged him... That kid does not know how to get on someone's good side does he? She sighed and leaned up against the wall beside the door. Once vex had entered the club she sighed and look around her before just leaning her head back.

Vex was practically a part of her family at this point and he was the reason she wasn't a monster. Sure she held no regard for human life but her hunts would probably be far less frequent. Part of the reason she hunted humans so often was the thrill she got out of it. She rarely did it to cause them pain, she didn't find it nearly as satisfying when she just forced a person to let her. She was dark and rather gorgeous for such a young looking person. Even though this was true, Sylvia would often be mistaken as a highschool student due to her sixteen/seventeen year old appearance.

Sylvia, despite being as old as she was, and how often she hunted, never forgot a feeding... Each kill etched into her memory. Thinking back she could remember a time she fed off a man to cause them pain...

Sylvia was walking home, her hair was its natural blonde shade at that time. She had seen a man driving an old looking green truck watching her several times within the past month. She looked like a 11 or 12 years old so she suspected this man wanted to kidnap her with no doubt awful intentions. So this one day she decided she would actually do something about it. Spinning around she faced the man and began approaching him. She knocked on the window and smiled innocently. "Mister? Do you think I can use your phone... I need to call someone.
He rolled the window down and she smiled warmly at his response, " yeah, sure kid. How about you take a seat...?"

She opened the door and climbed inside, closing it behind her. He rolled up the windows and locked the doors, taking off almost immediately. She played her scared child role and eventually they had gotten to a warehouse in the middle of no where. Grinning she continued until they were inside and she gave a soft smirk. Soon enough she was forced up against a wall and pinned... He began doing things, advancing quickly and Sylvia leaned into his neck, biting down hard and he let out a loud girlish scream, releasing her to grab his bloody neck.
Sylvia pranced towards him only to grab his wrists and pull him aggressively down until he was kneeling. She leaned in once more and bit down, sinking her fangs into his skin and drinking to his screams and groans of pain. His body weak and paralyzed in fear she hardly had to hold him down to keep him from pulling away. She fed until he fell over dead, she just kicked his bloody body away in disgust. She was such a messy eater back then.

Peter's words of confidence were interrupted by the loss of the beeping signal. "Hmm? i guess i spoke too soon eh? This guy isn't your average dumb warlock." said Peter after releasing a sigh of extreme boredom and frustration. Peter knew at that moment that he could no longer go directly to their location. The signal's disappearance only meant two things, one: The bug stopped working, and two: they found out about it, and his bugs had never broken down before. Peter took a different route and snuck the bike into a garage near the nightclub his GPS pointed to earlier. He hid behind a bus stop and glared deeply noticing Sylvia standing next to a car. "Well well well hello there" he said readying his silver case. No it's still too early he thought to himself, placing the case back in his backpack. He smiled and ran towards the building which stood across from the nightclub. He scaled its walls with his trusty hooks and performed a front flip reaching the top where he squatted and watched Sylvia from above. "Hmm..he isn't there." he said wondering why Vex would leave her alone. His actions from earlier depicted nothing but the utmost of care for her.

Sylvia stood there boredly as thoughts and memories consumed her. The cool breeze reminding her of the heavy shudders people had when under the influence of her icy touch. The taste of Vex's blood still faintly upon her taste buds forcing her to think of every time she had fed from him. The sound of music pulsing through her ears as memories of very drunk nights replaced thoughts of Vex's blood. Opening her eyes, the familiar area reminded her of all the times she had come here as a get away. Of course that changed as soon as people tried to get her bloodthirsty and kill someone. If not for her friend, it would have worked.

The scent of alcohol and... Sylvia stepped from the wall and tried to recognize the strange smell. A man. ... Peter. She gave a low hiss and tried to locate him, he was close by. It had t be him. She never forgets a scent and she got a good whiff of his before aiming a stake at her. She didn't care if she was hungry or not, she would suck him dry and tear him limb from limb like he deserves.

Peter realized she sensed his presence and pushed a few buttons on his arm. boop boop boop he became invisible, almost as if he were wearing an invisible cloak, and jumped onto the roof of the casino, where he loaded his crossbow with antidote filled needles.

Sylvia recognized how anger was forcing bloodlust into her eyes as her fangs extended. Her lifeless gray irises faded but were only violet and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. She was completely under control of her urges but not over her anger. What would vex do? She doubted that whatever it was would be so irrational as killing Peter as soon as she saw him. Why did she even care, watching peter die in front of her, begging for help that she wouldn't give sounded like a luxury.

Sighing she scurried to the car and opened the trunk. She rifled through her bundle of damp, blood stained white clothes. Reaching into the pocket of her sweatshirt she pulled out a small metal item. It was a rich copper color and fit was about a quarter of the size of her palm. She wrapped her fingers around it before sliding it into her current pocket and finally closing the trunk. "Come on out Peter... Or are you just going to keep hiding like a coward. I prefer to look into the eyes of someone I'm about to rip to shreds."

(Well, I never got any alerts that this thread was being posted on, so I am going to bow out since it has been so long for me here. Sorry for dropping out. Any of you can always invite me elsewhere if you wish)
