wip post storage:
Stealing from a god was not unheard of, many a daring thief had tried to steal artifacts of great power or wealth, but Venaris simply never thought that it would happen to him. If it had been just about anything else, he wouldn't have even bothered trying to track the thief down. Just wait a couple of decades and it would turn up with some noble house that could be convinced to give it back. Sadly, what had been taken from him had power that he could not ignore. So here he was in the shadow of a tavern he had never been to before, which was itself currently in the shadow of his temple. A backward glance towards the great marble dome of the theatre confirmed this. He was missing the latest performance of the Tragedy of Andalir for this. If he could just sort it out quickly, he might even be able to return for the third act.

Of course, he couldn't just waltz into some plain little tavern in the guise of a god. With a plain cloak pulled close around him to hide the finery of his outfit and a large hat to partially hide his face, anyone would likely assume he was a noble trying to hide his identity and think nothing of it. Probably plenty of young nobles doing that in this district. As much as it pained him to not be the centre of attention, he needed to scope the place out first. Of the people who had visited his shrine that day, only three weren't priests, so it had been easy to narrow down the search. The first was a daughter of a noble house who was donating great riches, evidently, she didn't need the wealth an artifact could bring. The second was a delegate of his brother, so not the thief either. The third was an elf, whom the priests had never seen before but they didn't question their presence in the temple.

With a basic description in mind, Ven had searched many of the taverns in the city to no avail. If it were being sold on the meeting would likely be in a tavern, and if it had already been sold the culprit would be wasting away the newfound riches. The magic attached to the flute would still linger, as well, which would have narrowed down the search area significantly if the thief hadn't been to every tavern on the east side of the city! Just thinking about it gave him a headache- an ailment he shouldn't be able to be affected by in the first place. The situation was dire indeed.

The flute hadn't been played yet, and though its absence was draining him, Venaris had to thank whatever luck was with him that his godly nature hadn't been severed entirely and the city was still standing. In the wrong hands, an object that powerful could cause a disaster. So he was rushing about the city looking for whoever stole it, and most importantly not breathing a word about it to anyone who could actually help him. If any of the other gods found out, he'd be a laughing stock. More so than he already was.

Hearing her words Leopold realised that he had failed to consider her position here. He was nervous about council, though had yet to let that show and at least he was used to the charade, she had never been in council judging from what she said. The words made him furrow his brow once again, more out of confusion than frustration with her situation. He was aware that other nations tended to be more restrictive about social roles, but hadn't been told the details. In retrospect, he probably should have read that guide to Glasblair's culture his sister had given him.

"Of course." He responded, shuffling through the papers on the table before him for the itinerary as he spoke, "Because it's your first council meeting, you won't be expected to give much input if you don't want. It's mostly so that you can meet the major nobles." he explained, finally locating the desired piece of parchment and shifting towards her to hand it over. He had left unsaid that the whole time, the nobles would likely be comparing her to a Forian standard of a queen - to the legacy of his mother, whom she had yet to meet and could not match up to. Right now at least. The young woman before him could learn Forian ways, but he wasn't sure if she wanted to. Mostly because he would never want to forsake his home by taking on the traits another country viewed well, though that might just be his pride speaking, so how could he expect her to do it?

Elyana was not entirely sure what to think of Lord Lannister's response. He seemed agreeable enough, though he was relatively curt with his answers. Honest, though, she could respect that. She was a little surprised at his admission that he didn't know much about the protocol of these situations, she was expecting him to not admit weakness of any kind to one such as herself. With a nod after he'd finished speaking, she reached to the pouch at her hip, removing it from her belt and placing it on the table between them. "Then allow me to give you a gift, my lord. A symbol of good will." she said. The young woman wasn't entirely sure how much he would actually like the gift, a set of cyvasse pieces carved from ivory, but if he had spent time in the free cities he would at least be familiar with the game. It had gone from Volantis to Dorne by ship, and then spread overland to the rest of westeros. A game of strategy, apparently easy to learn the rules but difficult to master. Elyana wouldn't know as her father had loved the game but never taught her. "I'm afraid that because of my circumstances, I have no richer tribute to offer. But that could soon be remedied, if you see fit." she added. Tradition demanded a far finer gift in a first meeting with a liege lord, though she imagined that he wouldn't much care for tradition.

As for his request, she wasn't entirely sure where to start. How to tell the tale without boring him or making herself seem weak. [etc]

[flashback to events (in italic)?]

[maybe just settle with summary after flashback.]
"For all his strength, Ser Swyft cannot run a lordship. The village surrounding Cornfield has been in decline after the death of his late wife, and he displays little inclination for diplomacy with the Reach. With respect to my cousin, for I recognise he has his skills, he does not have the temperament to entertain visiting lords or oversee trade along the coast road. If an envoy of Lord Oakheart just happened to reignite the feud between them, he could reach Old Oak with a retinue of six hundred men at least in-" she paused for some mental calculations, wanting to be as accurate as possible. Half of them wouldn't have horses, but the well-engineered roads would eliminate much of the usual delays in travel with a small army, add onto that the need for food and weapons supply carts which would lag nearly a day behind. "Hmm, around a week, if the weather stayed clear. He's not the kind of person you want in control of your border with the Reach, considering that you would most certainly be held responsible should conflict break out." She reasoned, her carefully considered posture and politeness dropped for a moment as she did her mental calculations.

With the realisation that she was probably droning on with her explanations, she took a sip of the wine before speaking again, her posture mended by the time the goblet was set back on the table between them. "If he would do this to family, threaten to kill me and all who pledge to me, what would he do to others? It would not matter if they were your enemies or just his, he is too volatile to be given that power." She said, failing to mention that they were not exactly close family. They knew of each other and she had seen him when he visited for summer hunts, but she had not even considered to invite him to her father's funeral. Casting them as the distant cousins they were would not work in her favour, so it was a detail she chose to omit.

Jaya Velasquez

The positive answer towards his suggestion was a very welcome one, as Jaya didn't know how long he could keep this courteous small talk up. He was charismatic and could be polite when he wanted to be, but this political battleground was not one of those moments. Abandoning his own empty wine glass with a servant, he followed along for the impromptu tour of the palace. He did catch the prince's instruction to the guard, and hoped that the monarchs didn't ask after their son any time soon, because they would most certainly know that there were no dignitaries from Jashai planned to be here today.

Name: Leopold Vogt.
Nicknames: Called Leo by his family, as well as one long time friend. Though this is now not permitted in public because of his status, a tradition he takes issue with but cannot change.
Age: 25 years old.
Role/Title(s): King of Foria.
Magic: Powerful fire magic. His control over his powers was not an easy thing to acquire, and it is the main reason why he was selected as ruler.

Key Traits: Impulsive; Perceptive; Generous; Stubborn; Adventurous; Honest; Energetic; Gregarious.
Leopold is not exactly a model king. He was an unplanned royal child, and wasn't raised with that responsibility as an expectation. Due to being closer to his mother, he emulates her more than the coldness of his father, being rather impulsive, lighthearted and honest. As a child, he was extremely easy to anger, and only the discovery of his powers and the subsequent training curbed that temper. He still permits himself to feel anger and it may seem that he is more open with his frustrations than he really should be, but he respects the danger of bottling up emotion and the effect it has on his powers moreso than the damage it may do to his reputation. The last thing he wants is to stew in his emotions and then set his palace alight at the slightest provocation.

This anger is rarely openly seen, with the exception of a sharp comment towards a troublesome advisor, and he has multiple ways of working through it. The lighter, fun-loving aspects of his personality shine through more frequently, and to most he is a high-spirited, though occasionally irresponsible king. Now ever-busy with royal duties, this intense pace of life is not unusual to him as he is a naturally lively person, always looking for ways to keep himself moving. Reading up for council meetings is therefore extremely boring to him, and he has a bad habit of taking the parchment for a walk around the castle in an effort to concentrate, which can sometimes make him difficult to locate. If he's not busy with the responsibilities of a ruler, he often takes hikes or horseback rides into the surrounding countryside, attempting to appear as plain as possible in the hopes nobody recognises him. These outings are ofen a spontaneous thing, with no guards or other attendants, and this is a point of argument between Leo and his brother, who sees it as a security risk. He has yet to back down on the matter, as once Leopold makes a decision he tends to stick with it, regardless of most consequences.

Family:
Father; Klaus Vogt. Died seven months ago, at the age of 62. The second king of Foria with that name, a harsh man that had a long reign and was known for his conquest into the lowlands. Leo has many regrets about his relationship with his father, and strives to not be like him if possible.
Mother; Marie Vogt. 59 years old. The former Queen has been absent from court life since the death of her husband, though still resides in the lowland palace and recieves visits from family. Leo is extremely close with his mother and has picked up many of her traits.
Sibling(s);
- Bernard Vogt, half brother. 38 years old. An illegitimate child of the former king, he works as a mercenary in far off lands. Leo can only distantly remember him, and they were never close.
- Cailan Vogt, elder brother. 31 years old. A general of Foria's army and his brother's martial advisor, the two often spar together and are regarded by outsiders as being very close. Leo being chosen as king has strained their relationship though.
- Isolde Vogt, elder sister. 27 years old. A noblewoman who inherited land from her maternal family, so is a countess in her own right, but also married a powerful Forian nobleman from a different clan. Was considered for rulership due to her quick wit and minor illusion magic. Is naturally close to her brother due to them being close in age and having to attend many classes together as children, though she was far more academic than he could ever bring himself to be.
Other notable family; Two paternal aunts who have married into other clans, but they visit frequently enough for Leo to be familiar with them. The Vogt lineage have been rulers of Foria for 400 years, so Leo has some illustrious ancestors.
Though Leopold's childhood was relatively happy, none would call it peaceful. Despite being born in an ornate palace far from the frigid mountains further north, it had been very recently conquered by his father and the war still raged into his childhood. As a royal, he was raised into great riches and power, but also some level of expectation. He had harsh lessons in both academic and martial matters, though these lessons were serene compared to the schooling his brother recieved. Being favoured by his mother meant that he accompanied her on hunts in the woodlands in his spare time, and it was through this that he discovered his love for adventure and the adreneline rush of danger.

He was a dutiful son, doing as his parents said for the most part, but he never fully lived up to the ideal that they set and his father notably did not pay all that much attention to his youngest son. This branded him almost as an outsider in his own home, and in recent days Leopold took on extra lessons with weaponry in the hopes that he could follow in the footsteps of his distant brother and become a mercenary. At least then the rumours that were whispered about him would no longer matter. But his father dropped dead shortly after a visit to the wildlands in the north, and Leo decided to postpone his departure to help his family however he could. Plans for Cailan's coronation were shortly halted by the council of clan leaders, along with the anouncement that tradition would be disregarded for the good of the realm and the youngest son was to be king. He was convinced that they did it to spite his father even after his death, or perhaps they thought he would be easier to control than his elder brother, Leopold refused to believe the reason they gave - that his power would make him a better king. Whatever the council's motives, he would have to adapt quickly if he was to survive being in this position very long, and learn while he was on the job. Now effectively chained to his childhood home by responsibility, he is doing his utmost to do what is best for his people, whether they want him as king or not.

Extras:
- Found out that he had magical ability at 11 years old. He wasn't allowed to go on a journey with his parents, and in the argument before they departed he set the castle's stables on fire. He felt guilty about it afterwards, and learned to strictly control his power as a result. Now, he can use his power without fear of it getting out of control.
- One of his closest friends is a young man from a minor noble family, he's more often in the north, but visits the capital for major events so Leo sees him relatively frequently.
- On particularly difficult days, he does contemplate simply handing the throne over to his brother and leaving to be a mercenary like he originally planned. The one thing stopping his doubts from winning is that he almost thinks that's what the council wants. Since he didn't turn out to be an easily manipulated king, some council members have turned to making everything difficult for him.
- Considering his distance from his wider family and his dislike of his father, it is perhaps surprising that he wants his own children. Not simply because having an heir is part of being a king, but because he genuinely wants to be a good father.
- He loves the royal hounds, of which two are personally his. Alek and Isla are typically in Leo's study with him if they aren't out hunting, and before he got married they were allowed space in his private quarters. He has recently had them in the kennels overnights until he can figure out if his new wife would be alright with the hounds having their own corner.

Colour scheme is a WIP & he has no faceclaim at the minute so I'll be relying on description mostly.

Morcin Travere.

General;
Name: Morcin Travere. Called Sir Morcin by some, as he is a knight, though he doesn't yet have his own coat of arms.
Gender: Male.
Age: 25 years old.
Sexuality: Gay, though he's very in the closet about it at the minute.
Birthplace/home: Toussaint, a province in northern Nilfgaard.
Occupation/role: Knight errant. He's travelling around doing jobs for both money and fame.
Motivation/current goal: Outwardly, his main goal is to bring glory to his name so that he can return home a worthy knight. In truth, he's just trying to figure himself out and escape a situation of his own making.

Appearance;
Height: 5'8". He's an average height for someone in Toussaint.
Body type: Though not particularly tall for someone in the Northern Realms, he is quite muscular from his occupation and this shows through in his build.
Hair: His hair is sandy blonde, perhaps a little darker in some lights, and is kept short. How neatly his hair is cut depends on how long he's spent away from civilisation, as he will often attempt to cut it himself once it starts getting in his line of sight. When often he has no mirror other than some small lake or stream, his success varies.
Eyes: -
Distinguishing marks: He has plenty of scars left over from his adventures, with the most visible being a cut across his forehead and eyebrow. While most assume it was a deadly blade that did it, it was actually after an alghoul fight in the beast's lair when he tripped over something in the dark because his torch had fizzled out and hit his head on something sharp. Morcin prefers the duel to the death story.
Clothing style: Overwhelmingly, he wears practical clothes in relatively neutral colours, with the exception of his red cloak.
detailed desc here

Personality;
Main traits:
Optimistic/Idealistic- Morcin likes to see the good in everyone, and in most situations as well, almost to the point of naivety. On his journey, he's worked hard to maintain his optimism despite the fact that he's almost been robbed several times. He doesn't think that those people like doing those things, they're just pushed to by everything around them, but he can't fix everything can he?
Personable- Quite a bright, charismatic individual, Morcin likes people and being around them. Silence on the road is treated as his worst enemy. Mostly because he ends up thinking too much.
Impulsive - [detail here]
Honest - [detail here]
Generous - [detail here]
Conscientious - Despite being a knight-errant, tasked with taking down whatever monsters and villains he can find, Morcin does care for others and tends to try and make decisions based on what would be better for everyone. When he's not being goaded into action, that is. This means that he's willing to take actions that benefit others more than himself, sometimes to his own detriment.
Strengths: -
Weaknesses: -
Likes: -
Dislikes: -

Background;
History: The son of a tanner, his father used to make parts of the armour worn by great knights, so as a child Morcin would see these illustrious figures every day. Being in Toussaint, the birthplace of knightly virtues, he was eager to prove himself. So as a boy he signed up to apprentice with the royal guard, which wasn't the end point he wanted but it allowed him to train under the ruler's personal guard and scrape together some money. Initially he simply wanted a horse and armour and to set out into the world, but during his time as a guard he became familiar with many royals and nobles - most importantly Lady Adile Maertsaverg, the daughter of a visiting noble from further south. With the help of his father's contacts he managed to buy a good set of armour, and a warhorse with the money he had saved, and at seventeen he competed in his first tourney. He made it to the final round, asked Adile for her favour, and then promptly got kicked into the dirt by the royals' own champion.

Luckily this seemed to just make him seem endearing to the noblewoman. An upstart knight in a tourney was not so strange, but one who was only half Nilfgaardian was peculiar, that was without even mentioning his lack of noble family. So his struggle to win Adile's heart was quite a lengthy one, which included multiple tests of courage and winning the approval of the young woman's father. With years of dedication to this cause, one would think it quite impossible that he didn't love her, and perhaps he was taken by her beauty at first just like everyone else around him. The truth that he didn't realise until too late was that he didn't love her romantically at all. At the age of twenty, Morcin was a married man, with his various adventures around Toussaint in the name of impressing his father-in-law having built up a fair amount of money and noble patronage. He could afford a modest home in the city and his income would support both himself and his wife. It would have been a dream for most people, he's sure.

He hid his conflict well and tried to make the marriage work despite all of his own doubts, the young couple even had a child after a year of marriage. Morcin could have lived that lackluster life forever, though it was a dream for many it strangely did not fulfill him and he felt as though he were playing pretend each and every day, wearing a mask even around those closest to him. The interruption from this life of his came from a rather unlikely place. Tasked with working with foreign mercenaries to dispatch a group of bandits on the border of Toussaint, he journeyed with the mercenary group into the mountains only to be separated from them and end up alone with their leader. A brash, shameless man, the young knight strangely found time with him exciting. It took two weeks in the mountains to relocate the others and chase the bandits off, during which time Morcin learned a thing or two about himself. He returned home more troubled than ever, and the nagging feeling that he wasn't happy here resurfaced.

When nobles from elsewhere started up the call for minor knights to win recognition, he leapt at the chance to leave and has been away from home for the past two years. During his travels, he's been sending letters, money and trinkets home to his family, but he isn't quite ready to head home yet. He's not sure he ever will be.
Family: His mother, father, and three siblings are still in Toussaint. His mother is from Temeria and that's how Morcin can blend in quite well in the North, having picked up a similar accent.
His wife and four year old son, Damien, are also still in Toussaint, and while he does feel guilty for leaving them, he sends money and letters back so that they know he's still alive.

Other details:
- Thinking that he gets a dragon as his emblem, I just think it would be neat but I don't know how to justify it in-universe. This is mostly because I initially thought about having Bradley James as King Arthur for his faceclaim. Not 100% sold on it though. Decided I'll use him as a basic faceclaim, though I imagine Morcin having a couple details different.

Name: Vargan Pyke.
Age: 25 years old.
Gender: Cisgender male.
Sexuality: Homosexual.
Nationality: Ironborn.
House: Greyjoy. His mother was from Dorne, a Lady of House Toland.
Occupation: Captain of the ship 'Howling Storm'. Now a diplomat to the Westerlands.
Faceclaim: Luke Pasqualino.

Main traits: Diplomatic/Personable; Resourceful; Materialistic; Quick-thinking; Responsible; Adventurous; Pragmatic.
Notably more level-headed than most Ironborn, Vargan is above all calm and collected, and this serene mask is rarely broken in public. But still waters run deep. As a boy, he was just as wild and unruly as his brothers, but a single conversation with his mother brought about a change for him. He still desires riches and fame, and still has strong opinions, but he has the ability to temper these brash traits much of the time. A select few insults (or people) will still set him off, though the general consensus is not to say such things unless you want to lose a hand. Though primarily diplomatic, he is adaptable and quick-thinking, and survival among the Ironborn demands a certain tenacity and capability for violence. Privately, he is an optimist and generally of a personable temperament, and seeing him interact with his family or crew would only solidify this perspective of him. In most situations, he uses the persona he feels would get him what he wants, and because of his prior experience with Southern lords he may misjudge this new Lord of the West at first.

Abilities/Skills: Martial skill with both axe and sword; Proficient at running a ship, though his navigation skills are a little rusty; Knows multiple languages, fluent in common speech and Low Valyrian, passable in Braavosi.

Family: -Father: Ygon Greyjoy, Lord of the Iron Islands. At 58 years old, his health has begun to fail and he now looks outwards to secure allies for when his son takes over. Vargan is relatively close to his father, striving to be useful to and to impress him, and his devotion to his family stems from this relationship.
-Mother: Dyanna Toland, a salt-wife of Ygon, though he is more fond of her than his true wife. 47 years old. His mother taught him of court manners and diplomacy, of subterfuge and manipulation, and Vargan treasures this knowledge. Though she taught him much, Dyanna sees too much of his father in Vargan to bring herself to love him, and instead dotes on her daughter.
- Older half-brother: Harlon Greyjoy. 32 years old. The only trueborn child of Ygon, Harlon holds this above his siblings, and generally has a poor relationship with all of them. The picture of a 'traditional' Iron Islander - independent, stubborn, and rather violent. He is often away raiding Dorne or Essos.
- Older half-brother: Theon Pyke. 28 years old. The child of Ygon and a kidnapped daughter of Lord Stark who died soon after he was born, his father named him after his maternal grandfather in jest. He has a wild nature and a love of battle. Vargan is closest to Theon out of all his siblings, despite their wildly different personalities, because they are close in age and frequently banded together against their eldest brother.
- Younger sister: Tysha Pyke. 17 years old. Vargan is protective of his younger sister, though isn't particularly close to her as their mother's clear favouritism wounds him.

Background: For an illegitimate child Vargan had a rather rich upbringing, thanks to the culture surrounding such things in the Iron Isles. His mother, though she despised her position as a captive at first, had gained power in her own way by the time her children were born. It was not a secret that she had the favour of the Iron King, and her children were treated accordingly, being raised as any trueborn Iron Islander would. This isn't to say that there was no conflict or hardship in his childhood, as his father's true wife and son sought to make life unbearable for Ygon's illegitimate sons. This changed nothing about their education, being taught the arts of war and sailing. Theon and Vargan grew to be wild as the sea and half as destructive, starting fights and causing trouble.

When he was twelve years old and his father was about to choose who he would be a ward of, his mother spoke to him in confidence. Ygon had enough sons of wild and violent temperament, if he was to be useful to his father and his house - an ideal that was drilled into him as tantamount to securing importance and therefore survival - he would have to be different, more cunning and clever. In the half a year before his departure to apprentice under Lord Saltcliffe, Dyanna taught him the ways of mainland Westeros, the details of courtly life and diplomacy and subterfuge. From this point onwards, Vargan was more patient and measured, something that entirely displeased his tutors. Occasionally there would be outbursts of anger, and after an incident in which he killed one of Lord Saltcliffe's nephews, those around him knew that Vargan's collected exterior was but the calm before the storm.

Exiled from Lord Saltcliffe's hall at age fifteen for the murder, he pursuaded his brother Theon to take him raiding, so that he could prove himself as true Ironborn. While the request was officially denied by his father, Vargan stole away on his brother's ship anyway and returned four years later with a small fleet of his own and plenty of raiding loot. He had been to Essos and separated from his brother's crew. From there he worked as a sellsword for Volantis, Lys, then Braavos. Upon a payment being denied, he decided he was bored of it all. After putting a vote to their mercenary company (with Vargan promising them wealth and fame in Westeros should they go there), a number of them betrayed their Braavosi masters and sacked their mansions before stealing a few ships and turning for home. The group of mercenaries, now under his lead, was only small and consisted of three ships' worth of men, but they were loyal and returned with him to the Isles.

Since his return, he has stayed in the Iron Isles, aiding his father and communicating with mainland Westeros for him. At his father's instruction, he has headed to Casterly Rock to try and smooth things over after several raids by minor houses, and potentially get a workable trade agreement or military alliance with at least one of the Seven Kingdoms.

Extra Details:
- While the Iron Isles don't technically have independence from the Seven Kingdoms, Lord Greyjoy styles himself as the Iron King anyway & the Isles have been neutral at best when conflict crops up on the mainland. They're more likely to raid the North and Dorne if they're raiding Westeros, but it has happened a few times that they've raided the Westerlands or the Reach along the way.
- While he is better trained to fight with an axe, he does have a sword at his hip near constantly as well, a rapier he raided from a Braavosi mansion.
- While he would pass for a Dornishman in his complexion, he doesn't see himself as one. He has no illusions about the fact that he is Ironborn first and foremost, not just to himself and the Iron Islands, but to most of the rest of the world as well.
- His father has promised to legitimise Vargan if he succeeds in his mission on the mainland. So he wants this to go well, not really because it would put him in line for inheritance (he just doesn't want the pressure honestly) but because it will solidify his place among a family he desperately wants to be a part of.
- Him & Florian were both mercenaries in Essos in a similar timeframe & I think it would be improbable (but extremely amusing) if they've met before. Not sure how you feel about that one though, so I'll leave it up to you. I don't think Vargan was very well-known or travelling with a famous company, but he managed to convince a mercenary company to split into factions and one of those factions then betrayed their client and burned some of the city down, so that sort of story might spread among sellswords?

IM Fell English SC

Name: Elyana Crakehall.
Age: 22 years old.
Gender: Cisgender female.
Sexuality: Heterosexual? I haven't put much thought into it & I don't think she has either.
Nationality: Westerosi.
House: Crakehall. A vassal house of the Westerlands, ruling lands along the coast and border of the Reach.
Occupation: Noblewoman.
Faceclaim: Faye Marsay. Who, I found out after choosing her, was in Game of Thrones.

Main traits: Perceptive; Compassionate; Artistic; Cautious; Erudite; Ambitious.
Externally Elyana is a perfect noblewoman, soft-spoken and humble, with a genuine interest in the arts. She was raised to be a model young lady, with most of the attentions of her late mother being applied to ensure that she attracted a good husband, while her father focused on teaching her how to govern. As such, she is a careful and considerate young woman who knows well how to speak in court settings but is also well-versed in the knowledge of rulership. The latter is not immediately evident upon first meeting her, but if given a chance she relishes showing off her intelligence. While she is not necessarily an intimidating speaker her voice still has power and a level of authority if she chooses to project it that way. She tends to have a serious air about her when dealing with business, a clear sign of her experience, though she can also have an air of arrogance and can fail to comprehend the opinions and viewpoints of others. She is also known to speak plainly when speaking about law, economics, etc, because she wants others to understand her completely, and also because she simply isn't passionate about it. Get her to talk about painting and she'll be there all day. Something she is unwilling to admit to others is her innate ambition, which has driven her away from the place she called home all her life to Casterly Rock, to seek the aid of the Lord of the Westerlands.

Abilities/Skills: Proficient in rulership, specifically economics, military strategy and law; Skilled at debate, though she finds it difficult to understand other perspectives; Can play the harp and is skilled at embroidery (she's definitely been practicing since she's been kept waiting so long).

Family: -Father: Roland Crakehall. Lord of Crakehall. Deceased, died within the last year. As her father's only heir Elyana was very close to him, sitting alongside him at official events and learning to rule. Though he was a relatively weak ruler, putting his own desires before the betterment of his family or people, she respected her father's caring nature.
- Mother: Jocelyn. Deceased, died six years ago. Though a commoner by birth, Lady Jocelyn learned quickly what it was to be a noble lady and would strive to teach her daughter the same. Elyana found her mother to be overbearing and patronising at times, but still misses her deeply.
- Distant cousin: Drevyn Swyft. 35 years old. Previously a knight of the castle of Cornfield, he has recently usurped the Lordship of Crakehall from his cousin.

Background: The only child of the Lord of Crakehall, Elyana was given an education not only in the traditional arts of young women, but the art of rule. It was clear since she was young that Roland intended for her to inherit, from the lessons he was giving her to how selective he was with betrothal offers. In truth, he wanted his daughter to choose her own husband when she came of age, because he and his own wife had married for love. Though skilled with economics and the cases of law that were brought to him, Roland was a weak military leader and had lost half of his ancestral lands to either the Reach or House Swyft (largely because his lack of marriage alliances made him an easy target for neighbouring lords). Elyana did not know about these pressures upon her father, the lack of alliances, or the loss of land, firmly believing in her own right to one day rule the place she called home.

After the death of her mother, her father became ill, and within half a year this illness had made him unable to even leave his quarters. In the moments that he was lucid, he was arguably mad with grief. Being technically alive, he was still the Lord of Crakehall, but it was truly Elyana who acted as his regent. From the age of sixteen she has known power, and would not give it up easily. She would meet with her father's council and hold court by day, and in the evenings she would sit with her father and read to him. Some nights she would speak to him about the matters she had dealt with that day, though he never answered. Roland lived in this half-death manner for five years, kept alive by the maester who sought some way to cure his affliction.

It was upon his death that the reality of her position struck her. While regent, she had entertained ideas of marriage, but had always hoped that either her father would wake up or a better offer would come along. After her father's death, some of those same lords who had attempted to court her not two years ago became enemies. It was a distant relation, Drevyn Swyft, who managed to get to her first. He marched over the foothills and through the forest to the east, the attack so sudden that there wasn't even time to prepare a seige. One moment, Elyana was holding court and the next she was a prisoner in her own home. The new Lord of Crakehall put half the guards to the sword, most of the servants too, and then came to Elyana with an ultimatum. She could marry him, or he would send her off to be married to Old Lord Costayne miles and miles away. Insisting that he give her until the next day to think about it, she used the opportunity to sneak away in the night with several of the guards that remained.

She fled north along the coast to Casterly Rock, hoping to get the help of their ruling lord in the matter, or perhaps marry one who would help. At least then her husband would be of her own choosing. Lord Lannister was gone on a visit somewhere, and she was told to wait a few days for his return. A few days turned into a few torturous months as Lord Lannister and all his sons had died, and there was a sense of panic in the castle as the steward and soldiers tried to find his replacement. She did not mind waiting, so long as she was safe here, though her patience is beginning to run thin.

Extra Details:
- Not sure on her longer-term plot tbh, but her first main goal is getting a meeting with Florian. She's trying to get his attention but not in an attempt to marry him, more in a 'I need to talk about the specifics of a military campaign and also your steward is bad at his job' kinda way.
- I don't think I got it across when writing her personality really (but I'm not rewriting it today) but she's very much an ideal noble lady in public, but as soon as she's given an opportunity to show her expertise/experience, she's very practical and honest. Not quite blunt about things though, she'll still dress her ideas up in flowery language.
- Her persona might shift away from the 'perfect noblewoman' kind of thing as I write her more. I just think that's her default reaction to stuff, especially when she's around new/unfamiliar people, or when she's not in a position of power herself.
- Though she knows the theory of military strategy, she's never actually experienced war and has never had to hold a weapon.
- She actually had never left her father's lands before leaving for Casterly Rock. It was a difficult choice for her, but it was the only thing she could think to do. She managed to get away with maybe 4 others; two guards, her personal servant, and a stablehand that chose at the last minute to run with them.

Jaya Velasquez

General;
Name: Jaya Leoncio Velasquez. Often called Jay or Leo/Leon by family & friends. There can be some confusion around his name as a captain, since 'Captain Velasquez' is his father, so he's been going by 'Captain Moreno' for the last few years to try and be a famous pirate captain in his own right. So far it isn't entirely working out for him.
Gender: Male.
Age: 22 years old.
Sexuality: Bisexual. This isn't a secret either, since pirate society is definitely more liberal than some others. So long as you can pull your weight on a ship, most of them don't care about things like that.
Birthplace/home: Unknown exactly where he was born or who his birth parents were. Grew up on the sea with his adoptive father and now calls the island of Eleuthera home when his isn't on his own ship.
Occupation/role: Pirate captain. On the ship, he's one of two stormcallers (people who can manipulate weather patterns) so sometimes he ends up navigating as well.
Motivation/current goal: He follows his father's orders right now, as well as his father's ambition for independence. His own goal is to be famous in his own right, not standing in the shadow of his father and older siblings.

Appearance;
Faceclaim: Aramis Knight.
Height: 6'0".
Body type: Taller than most others and muscular from years of sailing, he's well aware that he can come across as intimidating.
Hair: Dark brown, almost black in most lights. His hair is naturally wavy and at the minute falls just past his shoulders, he usually ties it up for practicality.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Distinguishing marks: He has a scar that runs along his cheekbone under his left eye. Also has a few tattoos, the most visible being of a wave pattern from his collarbone up to the right side of his neck.
Clothing style: Usually, he wears practical clothes, but he has a love of bright things and this bleeds through into his clothing. He absolutely will not go anywhere without a bright feather in his hat or a gaudy scarf tied around his wait as a belt, or something else like that. He also has a valuable (stolen) collection of jewelry that he takes pride in wearing.

Personality;
Main traits:
Confident/Personable; Optimistic; Adaptable; Perceptive; Impulsive; Ambitious; Stubborn.
Strengths: Despite his age, Jaya is a skilled leader and has a commanding tone to his voice when he needs to; A skilled sailor and stormcaller from a lifetime of experience on the sea; He is skilled with a blade and rifle, and practically always has a dagger on him just in case he gets into a fight.
Weaknesses: His confidence and optimism can combine into arrogance and recklessness, leading him to make questionable decisions; According to his father and siblings, he cares too much about others outside of their family; His ambition can lead him into difficult situations, where he ends up too stubborn to ask others for help.

Background;
History: Jaya's earliest memories are of being on the streets of a coastal city, being taken in by his older siblings. They were alone on the streets for five years, with Henry running errands for unsavoury figures, and Anna planning thefts and teaching her younger siblings to pickpocket. This life wasn't easy for them and one day when Jaya was eight years old, his sister came up with a new scheme - to steal directly from ships in the harbour while the crews went carousing in the city. The plan didn't work out as intended and the four children ended up as stowaways.

When they were discovered, rather than toss them overboard or drop them off at the next city, the captain offered to let them stay and learn to live a life on the sea. This wasn't out of kindness, but rather because Captain Velasquez could sense that all four of them were stormcallers who most likely felt a kinship because of their unawakened power. Over the next few years, they lived on the sea, learning from the crew. Jaya mostly acted as a cabin boy and never saw conflict until ten years ago, when his father set his sights on Eleuthera and the surrounding islands. For a few years he lived on the island as the pirate council's rulership stabilised, but Jaya soon got bored and at sixteen he joined his brother's crew. After a particularly hard fought battle at sea he was awarded his own ship, the Antigone, and for the past two years he's captained it fairly and made something of a name for himself.

Family:
- The only parental figures he's ever had are Captain Luis Velasquez (currently 47 years old & a captain of the pirate council) and his second-in-command Kieran Sloane (died a decade ago in the conquest of Eleuthera), though Jaya was closer to the captain than any of his siblings.
- Eldest brother: Henry de Vaal, 29 years old. Jaya sailed under him for four years, and the two trust each other with their lives.
- Elder sister: Annalise Sloane, 26 years old. She mostly stays in Eleuthera and runs a tavern that she uses to get information from passing sailors, then giving the information back to her brothers to exploit. Arguably the most manipulative of the siblings, she's set to take over their father's place on the council as she's been the mastermind of most of the plans her brothers have executed.
- Elder brother: Robert Sloane, 25 years old. Representative for Eleuthera and one of the few doctors on the island. Running most of the legal trade and diplomatic matters of Eleuthera, Jaya doesn't see Robert all too much and doesn't understand why he isn't more of an adreneline junkie like the rest of them.

Other details:
- Absolutely a nightmare of a younger brother, his calling in life is annoying his siblings. The four of them are all very close though, and while they're all adopted they see each other as a true family. This situation is most of the reason Jaya never tried to find his birth parents or dig up details about his early life.
- Usually sails in a fleet with his older brother Henry, who gave him control of one of his ships two years ago, but he was sent out on this task alone.
- His ship is known by it's dark sails and the figurehead of a hawk.
- He's actually a little nervous when on dry land, being so used to the ground swaying beneath him, and finds it's harder for him to sleep when he isn't on a ship.
- Better at fighting in close-quarters than at range.
- He killed someone for the first time at twelve years old. During the capture of Eleuthera, a couple of enemy soldiers tried to steal his father's ship that he had been told to hide on. Jaya didn't mean to kill the first one really, but he was scared and not really focusing on where he struck with his dagger. He still has nightmares about it sometimes, and promised to himself after that he would only ever draw his weapon if he was fully committed to potentially killing someone.
- He's the unofficial owner of the ship's cat, as it tends to sleep in his cabin. It's an orange tabby named Frederic, named after a former crewmate who the crew insists the cat looks like. Jaya's not really sold on that, but the name stuck.

'main' character:
-Caleb Lawrence Garner.
-27 at start of outbreak.
-ex-military, signed up right out of high school because his father was military as well. Though he was out of it by the time the outbreak hit, working in a mechanic shop a few miles outside of his hometown, he was called back up as a reserve & chose to go AWOL to help his sister.
-fighting demons & the demons are homosexuality. He's so repressed about it, but he has had one night stands before. Just generally not good at the whole 'relationship' deal.
-fc is boyd holbrook.

younger sister:
-Isabel ___ Garner.
-24 at start of outbreak.
-not super clear on occupation, probably leaning towards sciences or numbers - something logical for a career because of a tendency for puzzle-solving, though privately she was impulsive and caring.
-fc is gigi ringel.

younger brother:
-Leon(?) _____ Garner.
-20 at start of outbreak.
-was studying at university. Law or engineering? Getting by on his maternal grandparents' money (their maternal family, the Wendells, were relatively old money & basically cut Mia off when she married Ken Garner. They tried to reach out to each of their grandchildren, but only Leon really gave them the time of day).
-not set on fc yet, wanted darker hair & green or blue eyes.
