Ten Years After The World Ended.

"Oh okay. Don't like, bite me in my sleep or anything? Kay?" Kitty decided to say after a bit of silence. She laid down on her side facing the lamb, curling up. It always took her awhile to fall asleep, but when she did finally fall asleep she slept soundly. Kitty could sleep through a nuclear war, a mobster gunfight, the end of the world even. She didn't wake up until she needed to wake up.

Kitty was used to the taking turns sleeping thing, she used to do it with her sister. They'd each have four turn overs, and the could only spend roughly fourteen hours sleeping, so they slept 7 hours a piece give or take. They always went to bed early too, so they could wake up early. Kitty always took second shift because of her habit of not waking up until her body was ready to wake up. Better deep sleep meant better performance, especially in times of hunger. Kitty closed her eyes and cuddled against the sheep, "Wake me up when you need to sleep." She added, figuring what he meant is he'd take his turn later.

But, what Kitty knew was nothing really happened at night. It was only twice something ever happened, and both times had been after her sister was dead, and Kitty had waken up in the nick of time. So it never had been a problem, being on her own, she didn't exactly need a watch out. Then again, if something were to happen in the middle of the night Kitty wouldn't probably wake up, so it would be too late if she'd been on her own. Maybe it was good to have a lookout. "Goodnight." She murmured, breathing deeply and filling her body with the scent of the little hay and detergent smelling lamb.

Heading South - To Rhodesville
"Once we get the weapons, should we head south together or split up? Either way has its pros and cons I guess, up to you."

He looked at David and wondered if it was safe to trust him with his agenda — no, their agenda. He wasn't alone in this world; there were many more like him, digging in the wastes and gathering intel. It wasn't the safest thing to do, but the other options weren't to his liking.

Cities were well-nigh impossible to get into and the bracelets they slap on your wrists were like handcuffs with invisible leashes. And the towns? The towns were like little kingdoms, and more often than not, ruled by assholes who were only out for themselves. The last one he was in was lorded over by a gentleman (as he called himself) who prostituted every single woman who was unfortunate enough to seek shelter.

No, towns weren't for him. They were safer, yes, and was a necessary stop for trade and food. It wasn't something he was considering long term, however. They had better plans. Bigger plans. And the big question is, should he include David?

"We'll decide once we reach your stash," he said as they walked side by side. "Let's make sure we get there alive first."

Traveling with someone certainly had its benefits. And drawbacks, he reminded himself. He was, however, grateful for the company. The silence can be unbearable at times. He never imagined the world could be this quiet, this dead. He had been to areas where the only sound he had heard was the ringing in his ears. It was the quiet that got to him the most — made him think of things that weren't there.

He looked up at the sky and stopped dead in his tracks. Ten years now and it still never failed to amaze him; it was the one thing that made him smile. Sure, the apocalypse sucked and things could definitely get better, but there was something to be said for the end of the world: the evenings were unbelievably breathtaking.

He bathed in starlight for a while and enjoyed a rare moment of peace. When they reached their destination, he'll have to make a decision, and he needed a calm mind when it was time.

"We'll decide once we get to your stash. Let's make sure we get there alive first" he heard ben say walking beside him. David knew neither of them 'really' trusted the other, but David at least knew for the time being that he was ever so slightly more safe the he had been before. Not because Ben was there to protect him or back him up, but simply because David knew where the stockpile and Ben didn't. If Ben were to kill him, he'd walked away with nothing more than what he had now.

"Alright, we've got quite a bit of way to go before we reach it. I don't like just being in the open like this, we should move quickly." Said David as he began moving a bit quicker. His eyes keeping watch for anything out of place. They would be easy targets for anyone with a sniper rifle and that was a battle he'd rather avoid.

It struck David for a bit how much this world was like being at war. In a way it was a war, there were surviors and there were the dead. Or husks in some cases. Husks weren't the major issue these days though, it was other survivors. When the world went to shit, it took morality and everything that made humans human right with it. David liked to think that not everyone was evil, but even he had blood on his hands. Some he regretted and some he wished he could repeat.
