Personality

Personality: Dev is a quiet and rather mysterious gentleman who doesn't speak much. Many don't know of his background, and he prefers them not to ask. Those who know him know he is guarded and doesn't trust easily, but truly does mean the best for everyone. However, most just see him as an asshole. He avoids those he doesn't know that well, and hides behind those he trusts.

He is a macabre fellow, and prefers the dark side of things as opposed to the light. He busies himself with books and music, both listening and playing his own. Once he likes you, you will begin to notice shifts in his personality. He becomes much more playful and domineering, and can easily be the largest personality in the relationship. He will enjoy joking around with people he knows, and can become all smiles and laughter in the right mood.

Many have called him strangely alluring, which he knows is a passive effect of his half vampire state. While he does enjoy the flesh just as much as others, he tends to care more for an individual than many other creatures such as himself. His humanity is not forgotten, and is in fact embraced by him. He thinks of his half-breed status as a blessing rather than a curse, but does not forget the trouble and pain it can bring.

Bio

Deverell's history is long and full of pain. He was born to a Welsh woman named Eira, Eira Davies, in a Welsh village known as Llanddyfnan, but was mostly raised in Gloucester, England. He never knew his father, nor did Deverell know what his father was, at least not until much later in life. He was raised for the first years of his life in the village. He was homeschooled by his mother, and taught Welsh and English, along with math and geography, and any other subjects necessary to a young boy in the 1950s.

His mother was a kind woman, always caring for him. She knew he was different, because she knew who his father was. A vampire. She could see that Dev was different. His teeth were much sharper than other childrens, he was always thirsty no matter how much water he drank. They soon found that fresh fruits seemed to quench his thirst more than anything else, and he began a diet of fruits and fruit juices. Everything was quite good for the young Deverell, he was the epitome of innocence. He was a sweet child who loved everyone.

Unfortunately, not everyone loved him.

The village was always known for being highly religious, and Eira was not the only person who noticed little Dev was different. Many of the adults noticed, and many scorned him and Eira. He became the freakish child, a demon. He had never hurt anyone in his life, but the people of the village were set in thinking he would become a risk to the others. Despite Eira's protests, they were attempted to be driven out. It was then that the villagers would have their proof. Dev, no older than 9 years old, attacked a villager when they touched his mother. He bit down on the man's arm, draining much of his blood in mere seconds, and killing the man. Action was taken immediately. Eira was taken into custody, locked in an old cellar, while Dev was taken elsewhere. These supposedly civilized people, who had access to the modern world, had turned medieval. It was a witch burning in almost every sense of the word. They took Dev away from his mother, and attempted to "beat the devil" out of the young boy. A cat'o'nine tails was brought to be used on Dev, a common tool for flagellation purposes. He was kept for many weeks under lock and key, being whipped on a nearly daily basis. Local priests were brought in to pray for his soul. By the end of it all, Dev had become compliant and quiet, except underneath the lashings.

Eira, being a clever woman, made her way out of custody during one night, which did make Dev's punishment more severe, them demanding to know where she was. Dev didn't know, and assumed his mother abandoned him. He became despondent, until no more than three days later, his rescue came. It was not mounted on a bright steed, like in the stories, but instead it came through the creeping shadows. A man who looked like him came to him one night, completely silent. Deverell assumed he was there to hurt him more, but to his surprise, the man undid the shackles and carried the bloodied boy out of the barn he was a prisoner in. He took him away from the village, and to his mother, who was staying in yet another village. Dev was to learn that this man was his father, Owain Rhys, a vampire, and that Dev was a Dhampir. Owain was able to get the two residency in Gloucester, away from the solitude of a village, and gave them means of contacting him. He taught Dev many things about how to be a vampire. Dev took these things to mind, but mostly wanted to know how to hide it. Owain left the two again, promising he would come back yearly to see how the two were faring.

Dev continued to be raised in Gloucester, but was changed. Not only did he need to heal from his injuries without going to a hospital, but trauma clouded his mind. No longer was he the sweet child who wanted to be friends with everyone. He kept his nose in a book, and rarely left the house. His mother continued to homeschool, as she didn't need to work because of Owain's help, and Dev grew up without many friends. He began to notice his slowed aging when he was in his teens. His body was still mostly adolescent, while others his age were getting taller and growing. When other 18 year olds were adults, he still appeared to be just entering adolescence. It wasn't until he was in his late 20s did his body begin to look adult. His mind matured normally, however, and he was mentally an adult long before he looked it. When his body finally caught up with adulthood, his mind seemed to slow aging as well, and despite all these years, he has not gained dementia or a slow mind like others.

His mother died when he was 45 years old, due to cancer. His father appeared when she was on her death bed, and the two watched her die as peacefully as possible. It was at this point that his father pointed him to Blackmore, where he could learn more about himself. Considering he had nothing else in his life, Dev went there to study. He became fond of summoning magics, and also learned a few tricks from the witches and wizards who studied there as well. He has been a part of that coven for over a decade, and is coming upon his second shortly. He knows many of the people who are residents of the castle, though they are mostly just acquaintances. He still stays in a corner to himself, his nose in a book, or his fingers on some instrument, not really noticing the passage of time. On occasions, his father still comes to visit him at the castle, and those days are some of his happiest.

Name: Caspian "Cas" Lockwood

Age: 20

Appearance: Cas is a handsome young man, a bit weather-worn from his time as a hunter. He is of average height, 5' 6" and weighs roughly 137 lbs. His hair is a dark brown with eyes of a similar color. His hair is a bit longer, the length to his shoulders, but he tends to keep it put up so it stays out of his face. He has a moderately sparse beard and mustache, which he claims he keeps trimmed but the truth of the matter is that he can't grow one any longer than he has. While Cas is a half-elf, he looks very much human. The only indication to his heritage is a slight point to his ears.

Race: Half-Elf

Background: Cas was born to a pureblood elf woman and a human man. Once he was born, his mother left the two to go back to her people. She promised she would return one day, but she never did. Caspian's father, Hector, was a woodsman who taught Cas the ways of surviving in the forest, including how to properly hunt and cut trees, but also that to continue living they had to give the forest something back. This often led to seasons of replanting seeds and feeding the animals of the wood.

Among other woodland skills, Cas was also taught to garden and farm, to not only take from the forest but to grow their own food as well. He was taught foraging, skinning, cooking, etc. He became rather self-sufficient with his father, but yearned for more. The thought of adventuring life appealed to him. He wanted to make his way in life, to become a protector of those weaker. He began to teach himself to fight, against his father's wishes. He then set off to the city, hoping to become an official adventurer.

Motivation: To make his own way in life, protecting those around him who cannot protect themselves.

Bonds: He is bonded to his father first and foremost, despite going against his wishes; his creed is one of treating nature with respect, and despises the wanton destruction of wildlife.

Ideals: To have humanity live in harmony with the natural world, even if it means giving up some luxuries.

Flaws: Because he never had much need of it, Caspian enjoys money and the things that can be bought with it a little too much, often buying stupid things that have no use.
Caspian is deathly terrified of small spaces, and will require intense coaxing or intimidation to enter any space that he cannot safely stand and spread his arms to his sides and above him.

Equipment:
  • Wooden Shortbow: A simple bow used for hunting, it was bought from travelling merchants the pair met on the road a few years back. It is well-loved, definitely not new, but still sturdy. The bowstring is made of deer sinew. Caspian has a total of 20 simple arrows in a basic leather quiver.
  • Iron Handaxe: Used for chopping away underbrush, this axe is not made for fighting. It is balanced for work, not battle. The blade is chipped in places and it needs a sharpening. The handle is covered in a soft leather that has been darkened from the oils in Caspian's skin.
  • Hunting Knife: A tool, not a weapon. Perhaps useful in a pinch, but this knife's main purpose is to cut hide from flesh and to cut meat to properly prepare it. Sharp, but not for fighting. The handle is a dark, hard wood.
  • Hide Armor: Armor crafted by his father, made from various hides. The armor is patchwork, made mostly to stop a charging buck, not a weapon. Definitely not master craftsmanship, it was made for survival not appearances. It is older, some of the pieces beginning to come apart at the seams. Caspian keeps it together by clumsily sewing it back together with sinew when needed.

Adventurer Pack:
  • Rations: Food that Caspian has brought from home, as well as some that he has foraged on his way to the city. The rest he has bought with what little money he had. Has enough for probably 4 days.
  • Hemp Rope: Worn hemp rope that Caspian brought from home. It is bloodstained in places, from stringing up deer. He has 15 feet.
  • Tinderbox: A small wooden box containing his flint and steel, as well as some dried grasses, shredded cloth, and bits of paper for lighting fires. Contains a 2 ounce bottle of kerosene to help start fires, but not enough to fill a lantern.
  • Fur Blanket: A blanket made from rabbit furs. Warm and comfortable, though a bit matted and damaged from years of use. Just big enough for him.
  • Waterskin: A leather waterskin filled with a few days worth of clean water. It is a simple skin, one he would take with him on hunting trips.
  • Pouch of Medicinal Plants: While these plants cannot be used to cure any poisons or heal a wound like divine magic can, Caspian carries some various plants than can help with some minor ills like nausea, stomach cramping, headaches, etc.

Background: Abigail was not always Abigail. She was born to two nobles in Bohemia, which is now Austria. The city she was born in is still around, Spittal an der Drau. Her family was part of many of the battles fought. In 1478, they aided Hungarian troops, and gained protection to stay in the city when it was taken by King Matthias Corvinus. In 1495, a little girl was born to this family by the name of Elß (pronounced Ehls) von der Reingruben. Elß was raised like any noble girl, and she was to be married by the age of 12 to another noble from the court of King Vladislaus II. She was wed to the man, and was waiting to start bleeding so she could bear him children. That time never came, as she passed away from a mysterious illness at the age of 14. She was turned into a vampire by her husband, who truly loved her, and was secretly a vampire as well. The two lived together for many years, now unable to bear children, they began adopting some. They moved through the country, so not to be disturbed by those wanting them dead. Unfortunately, they were found by some hunters, and the happy couple was broken. Her husband perished, while she escaped.

Knowing that her name was well known through the country, Elß changed her name to various things, before recently settling on Abigail. She is a German citizen, and is relearning the new information and societal rules and language, as she does every so often. She currently resides in Japan at Kaisei Academy, so she can learn without fear of scrutiny.

Arbor Glen, a lovely jewel of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is a wonderful place, known for its copious amounts of night life and being the birthplace of Galca Financial, a large bank chain known mostly throughout the Midwest. The town is quite cozy, but does experience many strange oddities that give it a bad name. Visitors often disappear, or are found dead months later when the snow melts and the lakes thaw. Many attribute it to bad luck. The residents, however, know the truth.

Arbor Glen is not a normal town. Ever since it's humble beginnings in 1859, the town has been overrun by dark creatures. The first to move in were the demons. They killed most of the humans and took the place for themselves. Soon after they settled in, vampires and werewolves began to call the place home. Arguments over territory spread quickly throughout the populous. As the town grew, so did the grudges towards each other. Fights escalated into battles, battles into all-out war. However, war cannot last forever. The leaders of each faction drew a truce, so no more bloodshed would occur on large scales. However, they all agreed that individual cases could not be helped.

Modern day Arbor Glen remains an outwardly wonderful city. However, something is brewing in the streets. New people are showing up, invading the town. These people aren't human, either. They're angels attracted to the large congregation of unholy creatures, determined to destroy the creatures. However, they have been instructed to do so quietly, without causing a disturbance among humans, and thus have taken up residence in Arbor Glen, their sole purpose to eliminate the festering darkness. The citizens of Arbor Glen have taken up arms against the angels, and must fight together to keep what's rightfully theirs, or lose everything they've ever owned, and something much more precious; their lives.

  • 1. I only accept Vampires, Werewolves, Demon, and Angel characters. Humans don't really exist in this town.
    2. You may have as many characters as you can handle, but make genders even.
    3. I would like readable grammar and spelling, spellcheck does exist, even on phones. I want you to be able to write at least a short paragraph for each character (like 4+ sentences at least)
    4. Post at least once a week for each character. If I have to tag you more than three times, I reserve every right to delete your characters from the roleplay.
    5. No god-modding, power-playing, mary-sues, or any other pretty obvious horrible roleplaying taboo. Your characters can only have the abilities that are in their respective tabs.

    Lore:
    Vampires are some of the oldest creatures in existence. They are often thought to be children of demons and humans, or even the fabled Nephilim of old. While no one knows the truth of how vampires came to be, the most accepted theory is that they were born from a single woman who became cursed after she betrayed God and turned to Lucifer.

    Vampires are well known throughout the world, and are rightfully feared. The fact that some vampires turned themselves to the spotlight has angered many of the others. The clan of vampires found in Arbor Glen are those who prefer to stay quiet. They are ruled by their Patriarch and his wife. The man is a rich banker who owns Galca Financial, which is well known throughout the Midwest. It could be argued that the Galca family owns Arbor Glen due to being the ones who keep it financially afloat, though many would argue that claim.

    Abilities and Weaknesses:
    Vampires have several abilities and weaknesses that coincide with much of the lore found in mythology.

    +All vampires suck blood. No matter how young or old, all vampires suck blood. The young ones must feed more often than the old ones, but the old vampires still must feed. They have retractable teeth to pierce the skin of their victim, which they then drink. The more blood in the vampire, the stronger they become.
    +All vampires can transform into a bat, but lose their other abilities while in this form.
    +All vampires can use a form of suggestion (some call it seduction) to bring their victim's defenses down to a point where there is limited struggle. Old vampires can actually lull victims to sleep using this method.
    -Vampires do become allergic to garlic, but usually only mildly. A rash will usually occur if rubbed on the skin, and hives will appear if eaten.
    -Vampires won't burst into flames when in direct sunlight, but it is uncomfortable. If in the sun for too long, their skin will start to feel tight, and it will blister, much like a bad sunburn.
    -Holy water does harm them, but wooden stakes and crosses do not. The only sure way to kill a vampire for good is keeping the head away from the body until the vampire runs out of blood.
    ~Vampires can revert to a much more bestial state if they have enough blood stored inside of them. This form makes them much more physically strong, extremely fast, their nails grow into claws, their teeth grow and become much larger fangs, and they become more feral. The older the vampire, the easier it is to control this state.​

    Lore: Werewolves were actually discovered quite recently. No one knew of their existence before the 16th century. They became a terror of the night very quickly, and immediately people began telling horror stories of their existence. First found in America, they became a highly regarded creature in the supernatural world. They spread quickly, and gave even the vampires a run for their money. They were not to be trifled with.

    In modern day Arbor Glen, the police force is run by werewolves. The Chief of Police is the Alpha of the Mystic Creek Pack, named after the creek that runs through the town. The pack is the second largest in the Midwest, and is actually quite well known throughout America. The pack claims they run the town, due to their involvement with the police force, but the others would definitely disagree with that.

    Abilities and Weaknesses:
    +Can transform into a beastman creature whenever they need.
    +Outside of their beast form, werewolves are quite strong and extremely agile. In their beast form, they become even more so.
    +They have all of the enhanced senses of a wolf, even in human form. In beast form, these senses are heightened.
    -Werewolves are vulnerable to silver. Touching it causes rashes to form on their skin, and being shot or swallowing it are sure ways for one to be killed.
    -Monkshood, commonly known as wolf's bane, is poisonous to werewolves. While it cannot kill one, touching it causes a rash similar to poison ivy. Ingesting it causes severe illness and vomiting.
    -Werewolves have a high metabolism, making them constantly hungry. A starving werewolf can become feral if they transform into their beast form, usually only being able to stop if they are old.
    ~The closer the moon is to full, the stronger they become. Werewolves are strongest on the full moon, but are forced to transform. Werewolves are weakest during the new moon, and cannot transform at all.

    Demons are the second oldest supernatural creature in existence. While angels are technically the oldest, demons are the ones who delight in meddling with human affairs. They are found everywhere on the planet, and tend to stay in small groups or by themselves. Occasionally, a large group will gather in an area for some reason or another. These can be dangerous, and can cause angels to meddle.

    Such is the case in Arbor Glen. The demons here have their own civilization. They are ruled by a single demon Duke. The duke has lived there ever since they moved in on the town and made it what it is today. The Duke is the mayor of Arbor Glen, and by all means, runs it. However, the other factions don't agree that the demons run the town, and most think that they are just the face of the town.

    Abilities and Weaknesses:
    +Demons have the ability to send their spirit out of their current human shell and take over another. For this reason, it's very hard to kill a demon, as they just switch bodies.
    +All demons are naturally very strong, surpassing even werewolves.
    +Demons are well versed in magic, and can use all sorts of spells. Their favorite are shadow manipulation and suggestion/seduction. However, they can easily cast other spells, especially if they are an old demon.
    -Demons can be harmed by holy artifacts. Holy water harms them, and crosses give them a very uncomfortable feeling akin to paranoia. When in contact with pure gold, the metal burns their skin.
    -Demons cannot be killed by mortal hands. When a demon "dies", the spirit goes back to hell. Only angelic weapons can kill a demon for good.
    -It is very hard to hide their demonic presence from others. When using their powers, demon's eyes turn black, signaling their connection with hell.
    ~All demons have a true form, which they are discouraged from showing to anyone. Turning into a true form makes them much more powerful, but also opens them up for becoming slaves to humans if they become trapped by magic. This is both their most powerful and most vulnerable form.

    Lore:
    Angels are the oldest supernatural creatures to exist. They were the very first created. Many angels are from the first creation, and thus are immeasurably old. Angels o not live in the human world, and in fact rarely ever tread upon it. Illegally meddling with human affairs is grounds for being cast out of heaven. They are the heavens' personal army and are called upon if a large group of corruption and evil has formed. It is rare to catch a glimpse of them, as they are very discreet.Angel armies are made a bit like human ones. They have a single archangel as their leader, and lower angels serving as captains and regular soldiers.

    Abilities and Weakneses:
    +All angels have wings and the power of flight. While not necessary the most agile fliers, they are quite strong.
    +Angels have the ability to shape themselves how they see fit. While it is discouraged from hiding their wings, they can do so if needed. Angels have no set gender, and can appear how they would like.
    +Angels have holy powers at their disposal, including the use of holy fire, purification of evil, and telepathy. They are immortal and nearly impossible to kill. They can return to heaven whenever they require to do so, as well.
    -While angels are immortal, if their physical body is killed, the angel will return to heaven where they will stay for a long time. Angels can be killed by the hand of another angel.
    -Angels cannot act off of complete free will. Their actions are predetermined. If an angel strays from their task, they risk becoming fallen.
    -Angels are very holy creatures. As such, they do not sin. While angels have been given permission to sin, it is usually only under very dire circumstances. Angels cannot lie, steal, envy, lust, or anything else that may be seen as unholy. If the angel does sin, they are at high risk to become fallen.
    ~Because of their immortality, angels do not need to do human bodily functions. They do not feel heat or cold, they do not need to eat, they don't need oxygen, and have no need for sleep. However, even if an angel were to attempt human functions, they would find that they, for the most part, cannot do these things. This makes it very hard to blend into society for them.

  • In the world of Predania, the people only knew war. War resolved everything. The land became scarred, the population dwindled, it became dreary over the fight for power and land. Countries fought for dominance. Even if there was no clear winner in these awful battles, there was always a loser; nature. Even though everyone saw what they were causing, no one stopped it.

    Finally, many of the kings took into consideration that these wars were killing their own home. They sought to end them. In order to do so, they signed a temporary treaty, forbidding these kings from declaring war on the others. However, a treaty was not enough to bring peace. The kings planned a way to bring about everlasting peace within the houses. In order to solidify relations, they offered their oldest child for marriage. A council of the kings was called, where they decided on which children would be wed. The children of their own children would then be given to another royal family, and so on and so forth, a never ending cycle of peace through the world.

    The king who bore no children and had stayed neutral would host the princes and princesses in his own castle. Many trusted this king, as their nation had been neutral since wars began. Their fights were not his. His military prowess kept all unwanted intruders out of his country. He was a man that all the kings could place their trust in. Only time would tell if relations could be mended or if everything would fall apart.

    • I want this to be a moderately fast paced RP, so please post once every 2-3 days.
    • I won't be strict on posting amount, but at least a minimum of 4 lines per character. I'll understand less if you have writer's block and let me know that's the issue.
    • Characters can have history with other characters, just let the other person know you want that, and work it out with them.
    • Please have decent grammar.
    • Put 'If you please, your Highness' in a bright color at the bottom of your first character sheet if you read the rules.
    • I allow cursing, so long as it's not your character's gimmick or something.

    Old Enemy: Kerrigen, they fight over control of the area. Most of the time, Fulor also enters the fray.

    Old Enemy: Asharia, because of land disputes that have never been settled.

    Old Enemy: Quvania, only Fulor separates the two countries. They are often fighting each other for control over the whole mountain range.

APPEARANCE & OTHER FORMS

Sable has a continuously shadowy look about him. Despite lighting, he always seems to have a darker aura around himself. Whether this is due to his origins, or due to the human soul asserting its presence, nobody is for sure. Sable has matching crimson hair and eyes. His hair is silky, and comes to his mid back in length. It is perpetually a certain length and never grows longer. If cut off, it will be grown back by the next day. This causes him mild discomfort. Sable's eyes are crimson, and do not sparkle with life as people would expect. He is often wearing a neutral expression, but smiles are also common.

Sable stands at 190 centimeters and weighs roughly 70 kilograms. He has a slight frame and little muscle. His skin is porcelain white. On his left eye, he has a rather deep scar reaching from the middle of his forehead to the top of his cheek. He has various scars across his torso that appear to be given by a blade and claws.

When he needs to, or loses control of his body, Sable manifests into a hideous creature. The creature has six horns protruding from its head, and a pair of huge black wings on its back. The thing looks to be dripping with inky shadow, and where its feet should be, there is only swirling tendrils of those same shadows. The creature's hands extend into horrifying, grisly claws. Though the entirety of its body is black, the eyes retain the crimson of Sable's regular eyes, but do glow menacingly.

PERSONALITY


+Considerate: Sable does not like to cause harm to people. He hates to hurt those who care about him, and those he cares about as well. While Sable is technically incapable of love, he understands what love is. Love in his case is mostly a strong urge to protect. He has only "loved" two people in his life.
+Optimistic: Rather than be down and blue all the time, Sable actually likes to think that good things are always around the corner. He isn't one to sit and be gloomy, and will always try to cheer up those he cares about by being as optimistic as he can. Sometimes people call him foolish and naive, but he tends to ignore that.
+Charming: Sable is strangely good at convincing people to see things his way. Many think he might have a sort of demonic presence that convinces people to listen to him, but he likes to think that he's just friendly enough that people want to listen to his ideas.

±Stoic: Sable is not one to let emotion get to his head. He is level-headed, and is unlikely to get very emotional around situations most would. He isn't a feels person, and just likes to think logically about scenarios. The only time he can lose his head is when those he loves are involved or when he is severely injured.
±Reserved: Even though Sable is kind and optimistic, he is unlikely to be very sociable any time soon. He prefers to be by himself or with a few close friends. He enjoys reading, and has a huge appetite for learning, so he can often be found in his quarters reading books he borrowed from the library.
±Determined: When Sable sets his mind to something, there is nothing that can stop him from getting what he wants. He is firmly cemented in his immortality, so nothing can keep him from his goals, not even death.

-Impulsive: Sable sometimes does not think things through before he acts. While he is definitely logical, he is sometimes a bit impatient. Poor impulse control leads to some regrettable decisions.
-Malevolent: Sable tries his hardest to not be horrid and bloodthirsty, but sometimes he cannot help himself. He holds grudges towards those who threaten him and those he cares for. He will actively seek out the destruction and torture of those who he feels are deserving of such a fate, and cares not for any humanity that has been lost because of it.
-Possessive: If Sable is anything, it is possessive. He gets jealous very easily, and gets upset when he thinks someone is trying to take away someone he cares about. He can be controlling as well, and will start to tell people what they can't and can do for what he perceives to be their own safety.

HISTORY TO CURRENT

Sable's history is long and complicated. It all started in 1820 when Sable was created from the hatred of a dead man. This man killed his family and his wait staff with a wood axe and then killed himself with a flintlock pistol. Sable rose from the lingering hatred, and fled from the house into the village surrounding the mansion. It was here he consumed his first and only soul, that of a young man who attempted to kill him. From here, Sable wandered aimlessly until he found a woman named Amelia. This woman was the one who gave him his name. They lived together in the small village of Camson in England. They were both outcasts, and supported each other physically and emotionally. Amelia was Sable's first love, but like all other people in his life, she soon died.

Not being able to live in Camson due to the painful memories, Sable left, making his way to America. It was here he stayed low, and away from the superstitious folk who threatened him. However, there was a refuge for those like him. A place where supernatural creatures could confide with one another. It was at this place where he met an elven woman by the name of Laya. The two spent every waking hour with one another, because they felt connected to each other. They were both immune to time's hold on them, and enjoyed each other's company. He rescued her from her oppressive family and saved her life from those who would see her dead. Laya was the last person he loved.

Eventually, time got the better of them, and forced them apart. Sable once again was aimless, having lost his love. However, this was a much more accepting time for him, and technology was improving vastly, to his delight. Information was at the tip of his fingers. He used what he could to try and find Laya once more, but to no avail. He joined various supernatural organizations and even went to a certain interdimensional hangout in hopes of finding information. His influence in these various small organizations got him noticed by INVICTUS, and he was sent his invite. He gladly went, hoping he could still find his lost love.

It has been just over 100 years since he joined INVICTUS. He is passionate about his work, and even though he knows the organization can be gray, he trusts them to know what they are doing, and to do what is right. He approves of wanting to strive for peace. He joined and was put under rigorous training, and while he was first assigned Fieldwork, he was soon reassigned to the Department of Defense because of his surprising strength and ability to hold his own when confronted with multiple attackers. He has only recently been given higher clearance and promoted to Agent Handler.


EXTRA INFO

Sable has various aspirations in his life, including finding Laya, attempting to start a family, and finally going home.
His fears include meeting a creature he cannot defeat, losing those he cares about, and tapeworms.
He can speak English fluently and occasionally can slip into a 19th century dialect, he can converse in Irish Gaelic, and knows a few words in Scottish Gaelic.
A quirk of Sable's is using way too many commas than needed as he is still used to the 19th century way of writing.
Despite being "born" in England, Sable does not have an English accent. He has lived in America for the majority of his life, and has gained a very generic American accent. Many tell him he sounds like he's from the Midwest.
Sable has a "kryptonite" weakness to platinum. Wearing platinum severely lessens his abilities and demonic physiology. Stabbing him with something made from platinum can bypass his demonic transformation and kill him instantly. Even just being in the presence of platinum can cause his skin to burn.


WEAPONS

Sable dislikes weapons because he feels he has no control over them. However, for his and others' safety, he does keep some on his person.

Sable does not have any natural weapons except for when he is in his full demonic form. He has razor sharp claws and pointed teeth, best utilized for slicing and tearing flesh.

Unless he needs to use physical weapons, he tends to simply use his own abilities in order to fight and incapacitate foes.


ABILITIES

Ability Name: Shadow Control
Description: Sable can control shadows, or darkness, around him. While he cannot manipulate them into any kind of physical form, he can usually spread the shadows around a wider space. He can blind people temporarily using them as well. He can use them to darken an area, or even lighten an area, and can create crude illusions with them as well. If he is hard pressed for shadows, he can use his own "blood", which is a dark, wispy substance. However, using too much of his own darkness can drain him quickly, and bring about the primal demon inside of him, of which he will have no control over.
Strengths: Can blind people, can create minor illusions, always has a source of darkness around him.
Weaknesses: His powers can take control of his body, blinding does not affect those who can see in the dark, he can become weakened using too much of his own darkness.

Ability Name: Pain Inducement
Description: Sable's only true offensive ability outside of his full demon self. Sable can cause pain of all sorts in a person's body, and can kill someone by doing so. While he tends to only need to make a person hurt enough to faint, he can absolutely kill a person from the shock of the pain. He doesn't like to hurt people, so tries to not use this ability, but he isn't shy about using it when needed. His abilities can be negated by those with the ability to block out pain, and it cannot affect those who cannot feel pain, such as robots. He needs to have line of sight or be directly touching the body in order to cause pain to his attacker. He can cause pain anywhere from the head to the foot. Those who have experienced his pain inducement have claimed it feels like claws digging into their skin.
Strengths: Powerful, he doesn't need a source of anything physical, stops most enemies from continuing to attack, doesn't have to kill.
Weaknesses: Can be blocked, does not affect machines or those who feel no pain, he has a limited reserve of his own energy to use it.

Ability Name: Demon Transformation
Description: Sable can transform into his full demon form in one of two ways. The first is completely his own decision. He can sacrifice most of his own darkness to transform, resulting in him gaining immense strength, devastating natural weapons, and the ability to kill something instantly by ripping their very soul from their body. Ripping a soul from someone is something he has vowed he will never do again after the first and only time he had done so. He hates transforming, as his own blood lust becomes unbearable, and he has little impulse control.

The second way Sable can transform is when he is unwilling. If Sable is nearing the brink of death, or if the thing inside him feels threatened while Sable is unconscious, it will transform in order to fight for its own survival. If it feels it cannot win against the current threat, it will use its enhanced shadow abilities and flight to escape to somewhere safe. Sable is not able to control it in this state, and it is free to do what it pleases.

When transformed, the demon has enhanced shadow abilities. It gains the ability to meld into shadows in order to escape danger or sneak up on a victim. It can also fly, using its large wings. It is only in this form that Sable can rip souls from people and consume them to gain in power.
Strengths: He becomes incredibly powerful, his abilities become enhanced, he can gain power, it is an automatic defense mechanism, makes him incredibly hard to kill.
Weaknesses: Killing Sable while in this form means killing him for good, he can easily lose control to the beast and it can harm allies, he becomes incredibly weak after using this ability willingly.
