The memories, she couldn't stay away from them. They were happy, carefree, childish memories. But... Then again, those were the past.
Right now... What was right now? She knew what was happening but... Why did it matter? And what was this, fuzzy feeling...

She moved her fingers, and looked down at the cat, and finally, after a minute of staring it clicked, her eyes slowly going back to normal..... "Damn you spirits.... DAMN YOU!" After that outbreak, she collapsed again, not speaking another word and just barely avoiding crushing Edward under her. But it was clear her moment of shock was remarkably over, and was silently crying, her face covered by her arms, facing away from the opening.

Why was the happening...? Why him, and why not her? He was innocent, and she was a filthy mix blood in her eyes. She should have left long ago when she had the chance. She loved her parents, but had the feeling she was the reason for their deaths.

But then again, if they didn't want her, they simply wouldn't have kept her. Why is she feeling so many things, so much pain. A pain in her entire body, caused by her emotions. But, if anything, had to give her a parents a reason for keeping her around... She didn't know how, or when, but she would try.

[spoili]Woo >w< Sleepy, gnight! Before I go all loopy.[/spoili]

He had to move quickly to get out of the way when she collapsed. Something else he had not been expecting but at least she was back to normal. His shoulder screamed at him with the sudden movement and he felt himself shift back to his human form. Normally he would be relieved when he was snapped back but this time he wasn't sure if that was such a good idea but there was nothing he could do about it now. It was lucky he'd moved far enough away so he didn't hit her, that would have made things worse.

His mother was directing the horses and the box she'd been left with was near him. It was under his care now along with her. Normally he would be on his horse by this point or even walking along side the cart doing a few tricks but he had business with her first. He needed to make sure the princess was alright. Richard had done a lot for her and now he was gone though Edward had no idea if he was coming back. A glance out the back told him nothing yet and he slowly sat up.

Alright, the cat had worked, maybe this might do something. He thought as he adjusted his position and shifted into a Sand Cat. This particular cat was something he'd read about in a book from a traveler who wondered into a desert and found this creature. The person had studied it and had even drawn a picture of it. Edward had been amazed and had tried to imitate it, the person had freaked out and nearly had him killed but calmed down once he realized it was alright. Only after that did the person tell Edward he'd gotten it right. The thing that had surprised him was how soft the fur was. He did not know if that was how it was in the wild but that was how he had imagined it and instinctively did it.

He did not say a word as he padded toward her. The green eyes looking at her intently and processing her movements. She looked to be in pain. Getting closer he brushed against her arm with his head before lying down beside her. Resting his head on his paws he closed his eyes, as if he were resting.

[spoili]I give you…the Sand Cat…it was too cute to pass up…

"Edward just.... Stop." She had no idea if it was Edward or not, but guessed it was him because she knew of no other cats inside the castle, or the troupe.

[spoili] Erhmagawd! >w< Its so cute.
Should we have some kind of.. Time loop? Like skip a week, or until she is "normal"?
Also, quick note: My internet will 'reset' every month or so, so I'm going to have limit my posts to small things, because right now I can hardly even load this page.[/spoili]

A small part of him was relieved though he was still worried about her. She spoke! Standing he stretched feeling the pain and the tug on his shoulder once more. A small little yelp of surprise escaped his lips before he could stop it. Shaking it off and acting like it hadn't happened he moved away according to her wishes. He did not want to change back though, the Sand Cat was just to much fun to be and he liked the soft fur, it was comfortable.

[spoili]I know right!!! And no problem, computers are evil!!!! We can do a time skip though I'll probably let you do it since you know how long it takes for her to get better. J [/spoili]

It was only a month before she would have been with the troupe for an entire year. Nothing much changed, other than the fact that she was a little bit taller, a little bit more physic through the new life. And, that she got into just as much trouble as Edward, usually with him. Her mothers dress however, almost never left her side.

About a month after leaving Marina had wanted to try the dress, both to see if it fit her, and if it would make her feel better. Because she had been suffering through major depression after completely breaking out of shock. But the first time she put on the dress, Gray had visited her on that night, although he said nothing as usual. She was almost able to understand him perfectly, as if he were talking.

He had put some kind of enchantment into the dress a long time before, and when Marina put it on, it apparently called to Gray, allowing him to know where to find Marina. That night he had done many things, he healed the hole that was in her emotions and gave the dress a string of enchantments and 'spells'.

Her two favorite, and the only ones she could tell apart. Was the ones that prevented the dress from tearing and damage, and the one that allowed it to change to her shape as she put it on, so it could never 'un-fit'. But she could feel more, their tingle against her skin, but has yet to figure out what they do.

She officially called the group her new family, and thought that they called her the same. Edwards mother had adopted her, she never said so personally, but always behaved that way. Often times, Marina and [spoili]Insert mothers name here. >w<[/spoili] would spend the night up together. Not doing anything, just talk. She often made jokes at Marina, about the men in the camp 'making eyes' with her. But Marina already had her eyes on someones else, but didn't tell anyone.

[spoili] Does that cover enough? >w< Since I was bringing up "the past" I thought it would be better for you to make the actual first post. And if you don't know where to put me.... I guess I'll be dosing off next to the fire?[/spoili]

Edward loved having Marina around. The first month or so had been really tough, though Edward had done pretty much whatever he could to help but in the end it had to be her to take the final step. When she had finally asked for her mothers dress Edwards mother, Lyn, had given it to her and had told her of Richards message. It was still unknown as to whether or not he was still alive but Edward had the sinking feeling Richard had not made it out alive. Not that he had told Marina that, it was something she had probably already known.

At first the crew had been reluctant in her participations since she was a princess but soon changed their minds. She was a hard worker and did as much as she could, it was what the group had been saying to anyone who asked. What they had wished for though was someone who wasn't, well like Edward. It was bad enough with him doing things to cause trouble but with her in toe or even her doing things on her own they had pretty much given up any sort of hope of normality with her.

Many of them had their eyes on her since she had grown though Edward had pretty much stamped out any crude remarks regarding anything to do with her. He'd become a bit protective and though most of it was done without her knowledge he still felt good doing it. She was someone, special to him though he wouldn't admit any sort of feelings like that to anyone. He didn't even understand them himself let alone tell someone about it.

The wound on his arm had healed nicely though it left a small reminder in the shape of a scar. It was small yet it was ever present, like the one on his abdomen it would never go away. His mother had taken quite a liking to the princess and had become a sort of surrogate mother to her. She loved talking with the young woman and enjoyed her company. Should anyone try to harm the girl she felt she would protect her like she did with Edward.

-----------------------

He lay against a tree a cat sitting on his stomach purring as he pet it. Head resting against a rolled up blanket propped on the bark he yawned. The day had been pretty boring. His mother and Marina were having one of their 'girl talks' leaving him with nothing to do. Grumbling something about the trouble of women he looked awkwardly at the cat and in a way told it he was moving so it wouldn't get mad at him. Well the cat was mad at him anyway but he'd given it fare warning. Sitting up he stretched a few times before actually standing.

There were a few things he could practice for the next town but the thought bored him and instead decided it had been long enough for the girls to talk. He wanted to do something and Marina was the only one he wanted to do it with. She could cause mischief like the best of them and Edward was pretty much at the top of that list. There were a few others he knew that were worse but he hadn't seen them in years. They hadn't passed by those towns and though he thought to ask if they could go back sometime he doubted the group would do it considering the last time he had almost gotten himself arrested. The memory brought a smile to his face before it shifted to the aftermath. He shivered as his mothers face looked at him through the past. She could be a terrifying woman when she wanted to be.

As he walked up to the spot the girls usually went to he paused as he saw his mother holding Marina's head in her lap. She looked so peaceful asleep like that. He slowed his pace and in seconds came to a complete stop. He couldn't bother her, not like that. Memories of how they'd gotten to where Marina had become comfortable flooded back. His heartbeat quickened and he felt his body temperature heat up a bit. This strange feeling when he thought about her confused him. It wasn't that she was just beautiful, she was, but he liked her for her.

Closing his eyes for a moment he attempted to gather his thoughts but they became jumbled and more complicated. The harder he tried to control things the harder it was to do it. Giving up he knelt down and shifted feeling the weight of his thoughts fade. He'd chosen the black cat once more. It was one of his personal favorites. With a renewed sense of purpose he walked up to his mother and sat down beside her. His eyes shifted to Marina and then back again.

Lyn chuckled and shook her head at him. Edward always was a difficult child, getting into trouble and then somehow managing to wiggle out of it, and as it seemed Marina seemed to be no better. She loved how close they have grown and was relieved at how quickly Edward had accepted Marina into their midst's. She knew he liked her from the moment he'd tried to help her but she had not known if he would accept Marina because she was a princess.

Tilting his head he meowed and stood walking toward Marina. Lyn lightly tapped him on the nose causing him to blink and look at her with narrowed eyes. "Do not look at me like that. I am telling you to leave her be." If cats could smile he would have, eyes showing a bit of a mischievous glint. His mother knew that look and shook her head. When he got that way she couldn't control him. Slipping past he sat in front of Marina and lightly batted at her arm. He wanted to do something fun, he wanted to do it with her. He was going to wake her up.

Marina sat there, cold and shivering. Slowly... Ever so slowly, she began to stand on her bloody legs. She knew where the blood came from, but it didn't matter. As she stood, she heard the familiar rattling of chains. Looking down, she discovered the source of the blood.

Her ankles were attached to thick, rusty, and heavy chains, the chains attached to her by bladed cuffs. Her wrists, had the same exact rusted chain, but the cuffs were only spiked, to prevent her from bleeding to death. She wore her mothers dress, in perfect condition as it always was, but was splashed red in multiple areas by her own dried blood.

It was the nightmare that would haunt her almost every night. Repeating over and over, with no change.

One step after the other, she slowly trudged along the stone hallway. Falling every other step, and hitting hitting her broken arm every fourth. She tried every time to stay put, wished for it. But she continued on, against her will.

After an hour of stepping, then falling, then stepping and falling again. She reached the end of the hallway, and was greeted by a large iron door. With slow, shaky hands. She rested her body against the door, and unwillingly, used her weight to open it. Only to be met with a wall of fire.

Marina woke with a slight gasp. It was the nightmare again. That horrible dream. She couldn't understand what it meant, why it happened. But it always did.

Its happened every week, sometimes every night. No matter how long she was asleep, five minutes, or twelve hours. It would always be the same, and at the end of the dream she would wake as if it never happened, not before, or after it finished, but always when it ended. It was almost like talking, it wasn't something that you needed, but it just had to happen, and nothing would change. Which confused her, she would always wake terrified but the dream never affected her in any way, and soon enough she'd calm down.

But, she woke. And in a rush of time everything came into focus.

Marina sat up quickly and almost hit her head against Lyn's in the process. As always after one of her nightmares, she was lightly panting, and her eyes were at their widest. She never screamed, never thrashed, or anything people normally do, she just slept peacefully, or at least looked like it. as the room came into focus she began to relax.

Home. She was home. Funny, how she would have never called a gypsy wagon her home a year ago. But it was, and would probably always be her home. Seeing Lyn, and a small black cat next to her, Marina knew she was finally awake. It was probably Edward, she saw him like that most of the time whenever he was in his 'feline moments'.

Now noticing how strange it must have been. Marinas cheeks flushed red in embarrassment. Having been sound asleep the moment before, to jut awake, terrified and panting. And she awkwardly, gave a small wave.

Lyn jumped a little at Marina's sudden movement holding a hand to her heart to stop it from jumping out of her chest. She did not need to know what had happened, she knew the girl had been having bad dreams. There'd been a few times she'd walked in on her and had to comfort her for a second or two till she became aware of what was around her. It didn't happen very often, if at all but Lyn was always there for her. Right now she wasn't alone and she could see the worry in Edwards eyes. He had no idea what was going on, he usually didn't when it came to women.

"It is alright Edward." Lyn said petting his head a little her face softening. He wiggled away and whipped his face with his paw. Giving her a small cat frown he looked at Marina again and wondered if it was a good idea to take her anywhere at this point. Catching the look Lyn turned to Marina and said, "why don't you two run along, I will get food ready while you are away. It is almost dinner and you know how Edward can get when he hasn't eaten anything." She teased.

Edward glared at his mother for a second before patting Marina's hand, beckoning in a way for her to follow him. Without looking back he walked away and headed toward the forest. There was a little clearing he wanted to show her, it was one of the few things in the forest that actually made him happy. No one else had been there from the group, no one else could find it. As he walked in the darkness he paused and figured it would probably be best if he shifted back to his human form so she would be able to see him better.

Concentrating he felt the power release and was on his own two feet again. Garbed in his usual green linen shirt, brown hose, brown jerkin with braded ties, and tall brown boots he stretched a moment to relieve the tension from the change. Turning to face the princess he said, "want to cause a little trouble?" though no one had been to that place it was considered, 'sacred', to the locals. Well not so much sacred as something they didn't want to share it. Edward had wondered into it one day when he was in his cat form.

The clearing had a pond near the edge with strange colored fish, a few stone pillars that were from the old days of magic and a guard or two to try and make sure no one caused any mischief. Sometimes when he passed buy he liked to play a few pranks on the guards. The one time he was caught he had simply shifted into a cat and run off surprising the heck out of the guys who'd captured him and clapped him in irons.

At Lyn's words, Marina couldn't help but to hide a small giggle behind her hand. She noticed how Edward could get a little shifty when he was hungry, so she nodded toward Lyn and patted after Edward barefoot.

Marina almost never wore shoes now, it felt too unnatural, only putting on her mothers boots when they were in a populated town. She liked the feeling of the grass beneath her soles of her feet, the dirt between her toes. It was almost as if she could feel the ground around herself, much more than normally touching it.

As she followed him, became slightly paranoid. Which she usually did whenever he was the black cat during the night. It was hard for her to see him, and she felt that somebody was watching her the entire time. But she knew better, because she naturally could hear them easier, and see them because of her fathers Elven blood.

She started moving slightly faster, only getting glimpses of him because he was moving slightly too fast for her too keep up. Not used to the forest yet, she had to move more slower to get a better feel of the land to avoid landing on her face or getting a leg stuck down a rabbit hole.

"Edward?" She wasn't just calling his name, but was calling for him to slow down slightly, her tone still slightly paranoid. But as she rounded a tree she caught sight of him standing normally, turning to face her.

"What kind of trouble?" In that small moment her paranoia was replaced with a small mischievous smile, followed by a quiet giggle. It was their favorite topic, and another reason as to why she had grown so close to him. Since he was clearly unafraid to try new things, and always seemed to wiggle his way out of it, despite being a cat.

As she usually did, she quickly padded over to the thickest patch of grass and plopped down. She was she was fully Elven. She could only imagine the wonders she might be feeling being surrounded by nature. But putting that thought to the side, focused on the task ahead. Sitting cross legged, she probed her hands under her chin and waited for his idea.

"Oh nothing big, there are just a few guys who need to have a prank pulled on them." Edward said with a smile matching hers. "There are a few things you need to know first, a) they've already caught me once and might be expecting me so it could be well guarded. b) if it is well guarded then it will be more fun to prank them, and c) if it all goes well the payoff will be wonderful."

"It isn't that much further." He said and started off again. Walking a little further he passed buy some pretty thick and big trees before there were a few willows gathered around. Rare thing to see but he loved how the leaves hung down. Pulling them aside a little, just enough to see through his mouth dropped a little. There were far more guards there than he'd anticipated. He wondered if the princess would be interested in continuing on with it.

Crouching he frowned as he thought of what to do exactly, unfortunately nothing was really coming to mind. "The prize is in the middle of all of that." He whispered low enough for only Marina to hear. In between the guards, next to the little pond, stood a platform of sorts made of a big grey stone. On it was a small round blue stone that shimmered in the moonlight. "I don't know what it is exactly but it's fun to try and snatch it. I only did it once before and they didn't catch me. Naturally I gave it back but they were so flustered it was fun to see their faces." It was one of the less than legal pranks he pulled but the stone fascinated him and it was shiny, he liked shiny things.

[spoili]Sorry this is a bit late, been fighting with the internet all day..,L [/spoili]

Marina made a mental note of everything he said, but what did he mean by "Well guarded"? and "Payoff"? She wondered if she should ask Edward about it, but dismissed that thought. Her natural curiosity only grew over the past year, and it was almost like she had to do everything it demanded, or be stuck regretting it for two months for not looking into it.

But guessing it was probably best to keep quite, Marina followed him, making sure to keep her footing even and silent. And when she got to the leaves of the willow she had a moment of awe.

Marina had always loved willow trees, but this one seemed particularly strange, but all the more beautiful. The leaves were a blueish green, and especially thicker than usual. She didn't know as to why they were like that, but crouching down she caught sight of another willow tree, just as splendid. Caught between Edwards idea or hoarding over the trees, she stood and practically hugged the leaves to her chest.

Marina still had no clue what he was talking about, having only seen the nature and not the people. "Don't know exactly what 'what' is?" Her voice was slightly louder than it should have been, having already forgotten that they could have somebody out there, listening. Thankfully though, no one heard her.

If they were not hiding he would have been rolling on the ground laughing. She could be adorable sometimes. Holding back the laughter as best he could he said, "Quiet or they will hear." Taking a moment to reign in his smile he continued, "there's a stone of sorts, it is something they guard because," he paused trying to come up with the right word but chose to give up instead, "I don't know why they do it but it is really fun when they find out it is gone. They loose it and when it is mysteriously back, the look on their faces are wonderful."

He could tell she was sinking into her elven blood a bit more at a time and it was cute. There were times when he loved it but at this moment he didn't want to get caught. "We don't want to get caught by these guys, they will, well, it will not be nice. I've seen what they've done to their prisoners and it wasn't pretty." He said sort of wondering if they should just leave it alone.

Now finally focused, Marina took in his words and processed them carefully. It was obvious they were somewhere that they shouldn't be, and guessing by the way he described it, it was probably best to leave well enough alone.

But then again, she was curious about this stone. And also wished that she could just go lay in the grass. But stuck in the back of her mind was the way the guardsmen would react if this stone would disappear.

Slowly, and much more quietly. She knelled down and looked through a small opening in the leaves, thinking it was probably best to not move them to avoid being seen. Nearly gasping.

When he said allot, he really meant it. There must have been at least twelve, tired and probably very grumpy men. Two were even in full armor. "How are we even going to be able to do this?" Much more paranoid then she was before. Already imagining the things they might do to the both of them if they were caught. Edward could probably easily get away, but she wasn't the greatest runner, and by the lack of low hanging limbs she couldn't try to climb through the trees. "I'm not so sure of this one..."

The longer he looked upon them the more he began to wonder himself. Her questions only confirmed his worst fears. Could they pull this off or will it wind up biting them in the end? He sat back on his hunches and closed his eyes trying to think. There were a few different variations that passed through his mind that they could possibly do but none of them ended well, for either of them. "Perhaps not." He said speaking quietly, finally giving into his logical side. In the back of his mind he had mentally told himself he was going to come back.

He stood slowly and turned to head back. "There are a few different places that are just as lovely as this place. If not more so." he said with a Cheshire like smile. Moving away he led her to a place not quite half the distance from their camp and the clearing. There were more willow trees like the one there and the grass was incredibly soft. What he loved the most, there were a lot of places for him to climb and hide in his cat form.

"This is one of my favorite places to play." He said to her speaking normally because they were far enough away to be fine.

The moment he said 'If not more so.' Marina fell in love with the forest instantly, and this time she was right at his heels when he led her through. She had already learned a large amount of the forest from the small walks, and was having little trouble keeping up this time. She couldn't explain how exactly she learned the forest, she just knew after walking for about a mile.

When Edward stopped, Marina nearly bumped right into him, and as she usually did when startled in a way, let out an audible squeak.

[spoili]Sorry for the short post, lil distracted and I'd rather not keep someone waiting >w<[/spoili]

Though they were far enough from the guards to speak normally he was pretty sure they would not like to have anyone in these woods without their permission. When Marina had let out her squeak he'd tensed and looked behind them. He had been sure the guards would come running over and attack them for trespassing. They had decided not to try and nab the stone but these woods were still something the guards didn't want anyone to enter into. That being said, they did not patrol it which was always a good thing as far as Edward was concerned.

Relaxing a bit he let out a long sigh before the laughter took over. It wasn't loud and it was almost right after her squeak. His moment of tension had passed in no time at all. "You are a noisy girl you know that." He said holding his side while trying his best to be quite as he talked between the laughter. Once he calmed down he whipped a tear from his eye since he'd been laughing so hard and said, "there are a lot of places to hide and many other places to climb and sleep if we wanted, in this section of the forest. We still have to be careful so we don't get caught by anyone. In a small way this entire forest is under watch but they don't patrol it, ever, so we have free reign unless those guys by the stone are told otherwise."

Without another word he bounded off and with the agility and speed of an acrobat he was up a tree and relaxing comfortably on a branch. He was probably going to pull a few pranks on her before the night was over but until then he was going to let her enjoy this place. He couldn't help he had feline tendencies that wanted to toy with things. It was fun but it could be a pain at times.

[spoili]Sorry this is late, I have been fighting with the internet again. I also wanted to let you know, I will be starting my last semester of college on the 26th so things might be slow. Well about as slow as they are now... I am also going to be Stage Managing a production until the end of September and working full time. Sorry if my posts are late!!! I will try to at least get one in every other day if I can, every day if I am lucky. *crosses fingers* Also posting this to everyone here because it was easier than senidng an email and I be a sleepy leviathandances this morning. lol[/spoili]

When Edward had tensed up, and looked behind himself, Marina could only do the same. He knew the area better than her, and could probably hear better as well. But then she heard him laugh, and turned again to look back toward him. She could only stand there and stare at him, wondering what exactly was so funny.

When Edward commented on Marina's squeak, and felt her face flush, and silently cursed at herself. "I'm not noisy." Her mind wandered off, thinking about previous things she did in the past. Feeling her face brighten more she covered it. "Okay... Maybe a little bit."

As Edward explained the area, and the threat of the guards, Marina couldn't decide of she loved the forest, or feared it. But she didn't mind really, as long as she wasn't ironed or whipped, she couldn't care less what happened if she was caught. And they might have probably left her as it is, since she wasn't doing anything other than enjoying the land for what it was.

Marina was about to ask Edward if he was sure the area was safe, but he left quicker then she'd have imagined, and was already in a tree on the far side of the clearing. But she couldn't argue, it was probably best off if she didn't know anyway. Setting the question aside, she just laid there, and gazed up at the stars.

Marina was thinking about allot of things. The past, how it affected the future. And the future, how it affected the current. About questions and their answers. Simple things, and also not so simple ones. She stayed there for at least an hour, in her own thoughts, or counting the stars again. She knew the night sky like the back of her hand, always searching for a new star. It was nearly a perfectly clear night, only the occasional black puff in the sky.

[spoili]It's alright >w< I might wait a year to go to college myself. Still don't even know what profession I want to follow.[/spoili]

Glancing down at Marina he smiled. Turning he felt himself fall and lightly landed on his feet as he shifted in mid air into the black cat she knew so well. Sitting up he licked his front paw as if nothing had happened at all. He was going to walk over to her when another cat showed up that looked almost exactly like him only with yellow eyes and not green. It walked casually up to Marina and sat there. This cat he did not know and it bugged him at how foreword it was. On all fours his hackles were raised and he felt himself begin a low warning growl when the cat faced him.

All the anger he felt melted away when he recognized those eyes. "You two should not be here." His mother said shifting to her normal self. She had to have given her son something of herself. Returning to his normal self he rolled his eyes at her. His heart was pounding in his chest. She'd frightened him. It was a rare feeling and he did not like it.

"Mother, you can't do things like that." He said frowning at her silent chuckle.

Marina had been too busy looking up to notice the cat until it was right next to her. At first she thought it was Edward, and was about to each over when she caught sight of its eyes. They were yellow, not green. She thought it was probably a normal cat, so she reached over to pet it anyway, because if the cat was feral it wouldn't have came over there in first place.

Marina had just brushed a stand of fur when the cat shifted into Edwards mother, Lyn. Marina hadn't expected it, and flinched backwards with a surprised yelp. Lyn could change allot faster than Edward, it almost looked like just a blur. When Lyn said they shouldn't be there, Marina felt her stomach sink. She was fine with getting in trouble with the law, but not Lyn. And she didn't want to leave here, the area around the camp was too dead, too dry.

But knowing she had no choice, Marina leaned up and picked the grass from her hair. Standing with a small stretch, turned and looked toward where Edward was, and gave him a small hand signal for him to come.

Edward relaxed a little but was still irritated with his mother. He hadn't meant she couldn't just scare people like that, he'd also meant shifting. She shouldn't do it anymore for whatever reason. If she slipped up she would be stuck that way forever and he couldn't handle that. His father had already left the group after Marina's father had been killed. Shortly after Edward had attacked him that was.

He didn't know what had happened to his father only that the man had become angry with his lot in life. His father had done everything he could for his wife and son but soon, it just didn't seem like he cared. Edward remembered hearing yelling and his mother getting slapped around a little. She had never left but that was not because she didn't want to leave the man she loved, the moment he'd struck her the first time she'd felt the love fade away to nothing. She had stayed for Edward's sake. He needed structure during that fragile time in his life and she had provided it.

Standing he whipped the dirt and leaves and grass from his body and began to follow. Acknowledging Marina's hand signal with one of his own to say he understood. Glancing back toward where they'd come he imagined that blue stone and wondered what it would feel like in his hands, or paws, or mouth if he was in cat form at the time. Without thinking he bounded off in that direction leaving Lyn and Marina on their own.

Lyn stepped foreword saying in a slightly raised voice, "Edward come back here this instant." He was gone from sight and she felt scared for the first time in a long time. Turning toward Marina she said, "there was a reason I told you two not to come here, it can be intoxicating and difficult to leave. You are one of the few who are not affected by it, or if you are it is very little and have the ability to leave if you wish."

She had to stop and take a second to gather her thoughts and push away the panic bubbling up inside of her. "Edward on the other hand is not as immune to it as you are. He has been here more often and has been, tainted, by it. I am to assume he has shown you the clearing with the blue stone," another pause to let it settle in she continued, "he cannot touch it, cannot hold it for long periods of time that stone is dangerous and if it is in his position I do not want to know what will become of him. It will destroy the Edward you know."

"There isn't much time and though I feel I am putting a lot on you I am entrusting you to bring Edward back to me. I am sorry for doing this to you my dear." Her eyes glistened as she tried to hold back the tears forming.
