Name: Thalia Reed
Race: Kelpie (Mostly Hallowed interpretation but with some slight changes.) She doesn't like referring to herself as a Kelpie due to the negative portrayal and bad reputation they have received.
Appearance: (Visual reference will be added...eventually.)
Natural Form: Her natural equine form is a sleek, wet black horse with a well muscled build. She is medium-sized (15.4 hands), stout legged, and has a healthy appearance. Her mane and tail have lake weeds woven into them. She has large, bright eyes that contain variations of sea green. She usually wears her bridle.
Human Form: Thalia is 5'5" and has an average build with tan skin. Her dark hair usually has two small braids in it, on either side of her head, that come together at the back of her head with a piece of braided hemp. The remainder of her hair flows down about 16 inches. She has the same bright, sea green eyes as her natural form. Thalia usually wears green or blue dresses that end at the knee. She also has her bridle around her neck, although it shifts into a well fitting necklace made of the same material.
Personality: Thalia is level headed and calm, although others' irrationality may get on her nerves. She also is irritated by the reputation Kelpies have, and dislikes stereotypes. Thalia is introspective, and often thinks before doing, unless in a fight or other fast-paced event. She likes to be in control and know what is going on. Generally honest, she scarcely uses tact. She is polite, but not excessively. Thalia like to be to the point, but also make a decent impression. She prefers solitude, but doesn't mind crowds too much either. She likes to plan and prepare for things, including the unexpected. Thalia is reserved and somewhat distant in conversations, but usually has good intentions.
Powers: Thalia can 'thought-speak', or communicate telepathically, with others in both of her forms. (Thought-speak be demonstrated with braces as well as written elaboration if used, while private thoughts will be shown with parentheses.) She can also shift between her two forms of her own free will. She has internal gills in her equine form that allow her to breathe water.
Magical Weaknesses: Her bridle which gives whoever possesses it control over her actions. To possess it, it must be removed from her person and touched. To get it back, the contact of another with the bridle must be broken and she must be in contact with it. If one wishes, one could also deny the right to possess it to themselves when they take the bridle, leaving Thalia still in her right mind. She does guard it with her life and no one has ever touched or possessed it other than her and her parents. Tyrmin weakens her physically and mentally if prepared correctly. She is also easily dehydrated. Thalia is 'allergic' to salt water, and the reaction depends on the severity of exposure. Polluted and chemically treated water are also not healthy, but she has a tolerance for them.
Origin: Summer
History: Like most Kelpies, when she was born, a bridle was woven out foliage nearby and enchanted to form a nearly bridle that was connected with her will. Her family was kinder in general than others of her species, and they raised her well. She learned while growing up how to fight, how to shift forms, other basic knowledge, and the necessity of keeping her bridle out of others' hands. Thalia's childhood life was almost all lived underwater except for shifting lessons, up to fifteen. Then she received her permit to go above water now that her powers were more controlled and her fighting skills deemed acceptable. She wandered around the lands of Summer, them being more hospitable in her opinion than the lands of Winter. She stayed there, hoping someday to find another who she would love, but hasn't yet. She is now twenty four and still awed at the beauty in the summer
Inventory: Her bridle, two leather bags containing water, and some miscellaneous water reeds and grasses all contained in a woven, straw and hemp bag. She also has some thin, papery bark, a small aloe leaf, and charcoal in her bag.
Have you read and agreed to all the rules?: Yes, I have.

Accepted, PPBG! Welcome to the Tales :)

Thanks. Once I read the whole thing, I'll post. :)

no problem ^-^ we probably won't be moving until silver gets back, but feel free to post as you will.

Okay. Hello. ^^ I'll post in a bit. Maybe. I have to do something first.

Oh, and Magus? A forgot something in the character sheet. I'm going to edit it a bit. Of course, your approval is reneged until you read my new version. Then you can decide whether it is accepted or not.

welcome back, silver! and still accepted, PPBG :]

Okay, thanks. ^^
(Stupid mistake. You probably could assume it though... that she can breathe water in her horse form.)

Tyrmin
Tyrmin is a plant that grows in swamps and waters that Kelpies find favorable. The plant is innocent in appearance; it looks similar to Spatterdock, minus the yellow flowers that Spatterdock has. Tyrmin has white flowers with a slight coating of silver powder along the underside of the broad leaves that float atop the water.
It's rhizome, or root cluster, weakens Kelpies when dried if ingested or absorbed into the body. It weakens the heart, making one feel weak, dizzy, or tired. Shortness of breath and chest pain are also common as well as lack of concentration.
Kelpies will protect the plants from others due to the ease of using it against them. Some of the more aggressive will take thieves on their backs and drown them. Many myths have been formed around that, although most Kelpies wouldn't do that.

approved, since I was making things up as I go along.

Thanks. You can add other random magical uses too, those are just pertaining to Kelpies.

love potion, love poison, transformation potion, enslavement potion, etc etc.

Well, if you're still open to players, here goes. :)

Name: Leita
Race: Selkie

Appearance:
A young-seeming woman. Her skin is pale white and smooth, her hair black and straight. If she let it fall free, it would reach past her waist, but she wears it pinned up with combs of carved bone. Her eyes are soft brown, large in a full-moon face. They seem gentle, at odds with the sharp red crescent of her lips. She's not overly tall, half a foot past five, and her body is slim by mortal standards, though by those of the fae it is round and full of limb. She wears little; a draped tunic of pale blue silk, sleeveless and gathered around her waist with a cord of silver. It covers her neck to knee, and her feet are bare.

In her seal form, she's a harbor seal, with silver fur and scattered black markings over her body.

Personality:
She can be as changeable as the ocean, one moment tender and the next wild. She does not trust easily, and she can seem heartless - for there is something in her of Winter's nature, that weeds out the weak and tests the strong.

Powers:
With her skin, the power to change shapes human/seal.
Even in human form, she has an affinity for water (particularly saltwater). It grants her supernatural skill at swimming and diving, and the ability to breathe underwater. She can share the water-breathing ability with those in contact with her if she chooses. Of course, there are many tales of selkies who withdrew this blessing once they reached the ocean depths with an unfortunate companion...
Saltwater will make her heal faster, and she's nearly immune to cold. (Cold-based attacks might still hurt her, but she could walk barefoot over a glacier and be fine.)
She can also usually understand/speak to aquatic creatures or those with a strong affinity for water, even those that don't speak normal languages. (She can't control them, just speak to them, and they may not have much useful to say. Goldfish give terrible directions.)
She has some measure of the Second Sight, feeling the currents of magic as she does those of the ocean, but she's not a mage; her powers are of perception, not action, and what she sees often takes the form of riddles and allusions.

Background:
Selkies are skin-changers, and their seal shapes freely roam the oceans of both the fae and mortal realms. They claim allegiance to the Winter Court, for the icy waters of their homes and the unkindness of the race of Man, but the Queen of Winter seldom tests the extent of her influence in their underwater grottos. It is said there are portals between the worlds hidden in the depths of the oceans and known only to the selkies. Their greatest power is also their greatest weakness, for when they change shapes to walk in human shape, they must take off their sealskins. If that skin is stolen, the selkie cannot change back, and they are bound to the one who possesses their skin.
Leita is a daughter of the waves, her father a Selkie Lord of the Deeps. She was raised between twice two worlds, dancing from Faerie to Mortal and Winter to Ocean and learning the ways of both. She has grown to womanhood, and this past turning of the seasons she made the journey from Winter to Ocean alone - or began to, for along the way her skin was stolen, though she knows not by who or where it is hidden. She searches for it now; she hates the one who stole it with a passion nearly as great as her fear, and she finds herself drawn onward whether she will it or no.

Inventory:
A tunic spun of pale blue sky and glamour, and a belt drawn from moonlight on the sea. Her combs are made of sea-beast bone, passed down from her mother's mother and carved with signs and sigils.

Read the Rules?: Yes

Accepted, Mufi! And I'll put up your character right now; here's hoping there's time before the forums go down.

Waiting on the prince and Nyx...

Nyx is waiting on Fay and trying to leave time for Alfonso to catch up. Also giving the opportunity for Thalia or Leita to bump into them (if they want to)

Take note that Nyx may be able to smell Thalia, if she would recognize a Kelpie by nose. Leita could also provide an interesting scent as well, since she is from the Winter Court.

Yep, Leita would probably have some interesting Winter-type scent and traces of ocean from the selkie thing. Up to you how familiar Nyx would be with either of those; selkies tend to keep to themselves or be at Winter Court, but there are exceptions. :)

So I guess we'll just have to wait for Fey and the prince then...
