Like most elves Gwen is taller then the average human, at 6'5 though its still normal to have to look up the average Orc however. Gwen has a thin lithe frame made more for dexterity then strength. Blue eyes pop out in contrast to his light grey skin, flashing with color when it pleases him. Gwen keeps his raven black hair in dreadlocks, leaving them in a messy ponytail and out of his eyes. Typical of anyone who doesn't like to be seen in the dark, Gwen wears dark clothing. Dark, tight jeans covering his legs with comfortable black boots wrapping around his feet. The ripped up grey jacket hides many pockets allowing him to appear to pull things out of the air, including the deck of cards he never leaves home without. The sound of the deck magically shuffling itself is his constant companion. Unknown to everyone Gwen has a scar that runs down from his left earlobe to the edge of his mouth a long with several tattoos that includes a full sleeve on his right arm of thick ropes of tree roots growing down his arm. Only the lucky lady he takes home with him from time to time ever see it as their hidden by a glimmer Gwen keeps up almost constantly.

Gwen is a very charismatic person. Quick to laugh and smile with his signature Cheshire grin. He likes to go with the flow most of the time, never taking to much seriously unless lives are on the line. Though his moral compass is pointed toward the largest piles of coin, he will never kill an innocent man or profit off of people who are worse of then he is. People call him loyal and for the most part they are right. The problem is people who think Gwen is their friend are dead wrong. To him you are just another mark waiting to be fooled or stolen from. Friends are Gwen are few and hard to come by but those are the ones he would never betray.

Gwen is very guarded of his past. Anything from before he moved to Apex is off limits. The only thing he has ever said about his child hood is that not every elf lives a life of luxury. Gwen had moved to the station at the young age of 40. His early years here was spent running with an elf only gang of thieves. That gang slowly devolved from stealing from the rich to killing for a quick buck. Though Gwen had never killed until the gang had a final stand with security forces. He had wanted to run but the gang didn't let him. They saw his cowardice as an act of betrayal and he was forced to kill his closest friend at the time in order to get away and run right into the police. He spent 10 more years in jail, and when he was finally released he was on his own. He started going by Gwen and made a name for himself playing and cheating at cards games.

The only real relationship Gwen has on Apex is with Kalia, the friendly neighborhood bartender of the Clock Tower​

However, Tara is known to be a rather impatient and temperamental person, often taking matters into her own hands when others are taking too long. She's not afraid to resort to open conflict and can hold her own in both verbal and physical fights. Her first priority is to remain friendly with those she meets, though. All in all, she seems to have a combination of the major races except elves--the friendliness of a human, the hunger for knowledge and innovation of a dwarf, and the honest brutality of an orc. Although she is most certainly an elf in her own right, she has definitely detached herself from their way of living.

Born on the Elven home world of Alleria, Tarathiel grew up in quiet luxury. She rarely thought of leaving her home, and her parents were able to provide her with lavish gifts. One day, however, her parents packed their things and left without warning in the night. Tara was abandoned at the tender age of 20, extremely young for an elf. Despite their complete abandonment, Tarathiel never stopped holding at least some love for her parents. After being rejected by the rest of her family for reasons unknown to her, Tara left her home world and lived in Castinia for several years before moving once again to Lovis, beginning her skills in archery somewhere during this time. Finally, at age 68, she became rather tired of her own people. Their friendly peace with the other races belied their sense of superiority, so she decided to move on. This was the start of her nomadic life. She started in the human worlds, spending at least ten years at each planet. It was then she explored the dwarf worlds, spending a considerable fifteen years at each planet (save Leethe, where she only visited from time to time for supplies). The orcish worlds were obviously the most brutal she spent time in, and it was quite difficult for her to learn much. First taking up refuge in Sirt, she spent roughly six years here before moving on to Trill. The planet's negative energy limited her stay to only a few months before the effects started kicking in. She was never allowed on Nostea without armed escort (more like an orc prepared to put her in her place should she try to discover their secrets), much to her dismay. She only spent a week at a time on the planet, unable to take up full residence. The same was true for Pyrrah, given its almost sacred nature. Finally, at the age of 180, Tarathiel returned to the Elven worlds, jumping from planet to planet for the mere sake of learning all she could. By the time she had returned, she had practiced enough with her bow that she could best some of the most renowned archers. Many tried to get her to stay because of her skill, but she found no reason to. After learning what she wanted to know, she left her people once again for her favorite planet: Poustea. She only recently left for The Apex after hearing that her parents had been seen there.

She has many friends across the galaxy, all of different species (though she has yet to meet an elf that didn't annoy her). Most of the planets have at least one person who knows her by face and name, and she is usually welcomed wherever she goes because she genuinely cares about the cultures.

It should be noted that Tara's time on each planet isn't spent staying in one place. Rather, she travels around the planet during her time, learning as much as possible.
She keeps all her learned information in a thick journal complete with sketches and even quotes from others, though most of it is written in her own version of shorthand to save space.

The ES-12 "Plasma Sword" Prototype is a weapon that uses the process of ionizing plasma to create a 'blade' out of heated gas. Incredibly hot, the blade is capable of cutting, stabbing, and destroying most materials, though harder metals are immune to the destructive effects of the weapon. Though the blade ia made of gas, the process in which it is formed causes it to act as a solid.

The downside to this weapon is that it is only effective for severing, impaling, or disarming an enemy. The heat causes any slash wounds to become cauterized and bleeding minimized. If contect with the blade is minimal, bleeding may occur but it is often rare. Water, when in contact with the blade is extremely volatile and can react explosively. This can result in the user becoming severely burned or even killed.

Nolan was born to Kell Kimball and Adria Kimball in a city on Poustea. Only living there for a couple of months, his family moved him to Aslao to join the people they descended from. His family, and those who lived near them were followers of a religion known as the "Kellisni", a religion focused on energy and movement. Followers of Kellisni were often strong in telekinetic magic and it became a trait required to become a Kell. The Kell were once a legendary people who were spread throughout the systems, but now they were left to one village. Life in the Kell village was fairly easy, everyone had chores to take care of, many people had jobs such as farming, trading or mining. The Kell relied on this trade to sustain their town, surplus food was traded for better mining tech, and surplus minerals were sold or used to create gear or weapons. Though the Kell were fairly peaceful and held honor very close, they were incredibly proficient with their plasma swords, often using them to defend themselves from wildlife attacks. Now a legendary, nearly extinct, people there was little use for these weapons and most Kell were not trained to use them.

During Nolan's sixth year of life, conflict erupted and the Kell town split into factions. Children were trained to be true Kell and a new generation was at hand. Mining equipment was weaponized, laser weaponry was purchased, people were killed. Being young, Nolan was raised in this environment, he was taught how to defend himself and his people, and he was on the path to becomming what the Kell were once known as. Training was brutal, and the younger children often didn't survive. During sparring matches real weapons were used, and failure meant death. Nolan proved to be strong, but his emotion proved to be a limiting factor. Kell must be able to act off of instinct rather than emotion, and Nolan was often torn between the two. This resulted in Nolan often being injured or nearly killed during training sessions, but Nolan was determined to become a Kellisni.

Upon Nolan's 17th year, his faction was raided by a rival faction. The element of surprise was a valuable tool and the enemy had mastered it, Nolan's instinct warned him. He could feel the disturbance created by the impending attack, and he knew it was coming. That night, everyone but Nolan was killed, when the enemy was discovered the remaining Kell sprung into action and the final battle was fought. Nolan, the sole survivor, left for good. There was nothing left for him at that village, everyone had been killed, even his enemies. The last surviving Kell, now destroyed by the fate of his people, took to the stars with nothing more than his clothing and plasma saber. His adventure truly beginning on that night.

Nolan worked as a freelancer for the next several years, often taking breaks to train and strengthen his Kell abilities. Occasionally he would settle down and live comfortably, but it never lasted. Nolan had a hunger for adventure that couldn't be fulfilled, and he found himself loving exploration. He was happy meeting new people, learning about their culture, and working with those he ended up caring about. Whether the job he took on was merely providing advice, fighting, delivering a package, or anything else, Nolan was happy doing it.

Nolan is not particularly close with anyone, though he has made a name for himself. Often when people are looking to hire someone, Nolan's name is given out due to his abilities at getting a job done. Kellisni, or Kell, are not a new species, they are merely what a specific group of people have called themselves. A being with the same magical abilities is capable of becoming a Kell. Kell spend much of their lives training, thinking, or meditating, but are often skilled in combat. I am adding this info here just in case anyone wanted to make a Kell character. Nolan is the only KNOWN surviving Kell.

Nolan owns a small starship known as The Aspect. It has minimal weapons systems as Nolan relies on outrunning any combatants rather than fighting them in space combat. It is equipped with three rooms, a medium sized cargo bay, an autopilot and one manual weapon. The weapon is an X3 Light Laser Turret and provides decent energy damage in exchange for overheating often. An image of the ship is below.

James is the definition of the thief with a heart of gold...at least when women are involved. James is always the man that most people can rely upon because even though he'll complain the whole time he'll always be the guy who'll ride into hell alongside a friend. During the main part of getting to know him people learn fast that he's got quite the mouth on him whether it be put to use making witty comments, or using his natural charms to get his way in or out of situations. Like most bounty hunters he has a sense of honor and follows his own strict code even to the point of turning down a lifetime supply of money if it meant going against it, but will mentally kick his own ass for not accepting.

Biography:
James began his life after being born to his parents, Terrance and Lily, on his homeworld of Striga. The icy planet was somewhat of a frozen Wonderland in his eyes as he took pleasure in remaining outside as long as he possibly could. His father was a great hunter that made his living off of scouting around for undiscovered wonders or aided some scientists on their research trips as a guide. Relationships: Even while being so young James is a well traveled individual which has allowed him to make a great many friends. Right now he's become to look at this new mercenary group as a second family.

James is always the man that most people can rely upon because even though he'll complain the whole time he'll always be the guy who'll ride into hell alongside a friend. During the main part of getting to know him people learn fast that he's got quite the mouth on him whether it be put to use making witty comments, or using his natural charms to get his way in or out of situations. Like most bounty hunters he has a sense of honor and follows his own strict code even to the point of turning down a lifetime supply of money if it meant going against it, but will mentally kick his own ass for not accepting.

Tyrus is quite an inquisitve dwarf, always searching for something new to learn. In fact, he rather hates not knowing information and will always try to find the answer when a question is asked. Especially in regards to the scientific field, he can be rather forceful with his ideas. He speaks his mind when he wishes to speak it, making him rather honest on most accounts. However, he does know when to keep his mouth shut. Despite his forcefulness, no one can deny he is extremely intelligent, even for a dwarf. This has caused him to be a bit prideful over his years, though it would be extreme to call him egotistical. Surprisingly, Tyrus is quite extroverted, easily able to make conversation with others and often wanting to do so.

Born on the planet Jotun, Tyrus had a rather peaceful childhood. His father was a renowned inventor throughout the dwarven community. In his lifetime, he made several scientific breakthroughs that revolutionized weapons, food distribution, and even transportation. Tyrus always aspired to be like his father, but inventing wasn't really his forte. He wasn't a creative thinker, despite his great intelligence that everyone noticed quite early in his life. Instead, he spent his time learning everything about computers: pieces of technology that absolutely fascinated him as a boy. Once he had learned everything possible, he moved on to other fields. He studied physics, magic, mathematics, electricity...think of something and he probably studied it for at least a little while. He moved back to his one true passion, computers, at around age 21, where he began experimenting with hacking into security systems and databases. He soon found that it was quite easy and was never caught. To keep this obviously illegal business secret, he became an engineer specializing in genetic research and chemical research. That's been his life ever since. He recently traveled to The Apex for (confidential) scientific purposes, as well as a hacking job.

REMINDER TO EVERYBODY!

We're starting this role play tomorrow! Around 3 or 4 mountain time I'm gonna go ahead and post the IC with the starter. Originally I was going to make a map of The Apex, but that just didn't happen, so I'm hoping in another post I can describe it competently here in this thread.

If you still want to make characters but simply don't think you can finish before the IC is up, take your time! We can easily find a way to insert your character at a later date and it is not an issue. The same goes for those of you who have yet to make a character at all. Make them as you would normally, and then we can figure out how he/she fits into the picture. Thanks!

The Apex

IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT THE APEX!

The Apex was designed in a way that would make it easy for any species or individual to navigate. The layout is akin to a giant circle and is divided in rings. The outermost ring contained base defenses and star ports for spacecrafts to enter and land with ease; this is called the Outer Ring.

The Middle Ring is the residential area. This is where both the middle-class and rich reside, The Apex doesn't have a place for anyone who can't own a residency or be in a hotel as it is so crowded. Most poor find it easy to get passage to other planets on their own. The truly rich and posh live on the east side of the ring.

Next is the Inner Ring; it contains numerous amounts of shops and dining. There are very few commodities that can't be found in The Apex's shops. They have food selections from practically every type across the galaxy.

And finally, The Nucleus is home to the council chambers. There is a small courtyard for the public to gather and watch from the outside (on monitors) council meetings that concern the public. Aside from public announcements and speeches, this where the council meet regularly; in a huge building at the dead center of The Apex.
