In the future, widespread use of remotely controlled androids called "surrogates" allows everyone to live in idealized forms from the safety of their homes. A surrogate's operator is protected from harm and feels no pain when their surrogate is damaged.

These fit, attractive, remotely controlled robots ultimately assume their life roles, enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
― Wikipedia plot description.
Background

It is the year 2095.

After a political dispute that left the world in near-ruins, only 6 cities remain. It was vital that all human beings stay inside the walls of these six cities, as excessive exposure to the outside air would contaminate one's health, a side-effect of the war.

A new administration committee was formed to rebuild from the tatters, ensure peace and enforce regulation for the survival of the human race.

These six cities were given straightforward names to avoid a sense of identity, forcing the mindset of "everything is fair" into their people's heads. Each city was famous for different achievements, despite the principal of equality.

No. 1 was known for its excellent cuisine of all known culture.
No. 2 was known for its encouragement in stellar theatrics and performance arts.
No. 3 was known for its wealth in sums of pearls and silk.
No. 4 was known for its top-notch advancement in the medical field.
No. 5 was known for its commitment to brew the finest liquor and produce the best cigars and cigarettes.
No. 6 was known for its formidable and never-ending developments of technology.

All cities share one thing in common: Security is strict, and The Government (as the people would call the committee) is watching everyone who leaves their homes with their surrogates, which is 80% of the population, frankly.

Doctor Steve Quinton from No. 6 was widely claimed as a man of remarkable brilliance and innovation, ever since his invention of Surrogates was released into the mass public for purchase. Surrogates promised safety for their owners, while enjoying the pleasures of life outside their homes; additionally they are booned with eternal beauty, never worrying about age or other imperfections.

It was rumoured that Dr. Quinton was working on another new creation when the news that his son, Anthony Quinton, had died spread like wildfire amidst the media. Following the incident, cases of sudden deaths among surrogate operators began springing up here and there around the world.

In a world where paradise and nightmare ironically clash together, can the people make it through to see the retribution?

Plot

Survive the lifestyle for the practical, investigate the truth for the curious, and fight against the madness for the courageous. At such, everyone's objectives are different. You can even just take this for a "slice of life".
Notes:
  1. You may choose to play as a person who supports using Surrogates or otherwise. If you do plan to have your own Surrogate, please make sure to provide the application form for your Surrogate as well as your "real" character. If you do not, simply supply a reason as to why.
  2. Keep in mind that a Surrogate is not an independent android; they are simply physical avatars of perfection of your character should you choose not to leave your home.
  3. Even in the world of perfection, there are bound to be discrimination between the richer and poorer. There will be shanty towns in some areas, and dangerous people lurk the streets. Shall any crime be known by The Government, actions will be taken. A player without crime records is free to migrate to another city, but only once every 6 months in-game.
  4. This is considered a jump-in roleplay, but the starter players will benefit from knowing what is going on since the beginning. Prior approval from the GM is required. Everyone is entitled to have up to 2 main characters at once, and 2 secondary characters (pets are included) for each MC.
  5. Should you be killed, you can choose to make another character, but any investigations you have done should, by right, be nullified or start over unless the circumstances were special.
  6. Time and date are mentioned at the end of each GM interlude.
