Supernatural Academy

"I was bored. There is nothing to do here." He almost sounded like a whiny child when he spoke. "Oh, I have an idea!" With that he began to walk faster, heading in the direction of a place he had discovered while exploring. It didn't take long for him to reach the place. He stood just outside of the room. No one was around the area, everything was completely silent. Reaching out he opened the door with a creak. Inside was a room that had been abandoned for sometime. Once inside he let her down and closed the door.

A few spider webs covered the place, the whole room made out of stone. There were no windows so no light entered the room from outside. Torches lined the wall, all of them unlighted until Alik snapped his fingers. The room was illuminated by the light of the torches. In the center of the room stood something that almost looked like a birdbath, only more elegant. Walking closer he looked into it and beckoned her over. Black water sat inside of it, the water so smooth it almost looked like a mirror. A grin spread across his face as he looked down into it, he knew exactly what it was. This was something every demon knew about, a looking pool. It allowed whoever controlled it to look and see whatever they wanted. The catch was that only certain people could use them. Anyone who had ever been able to use them had been dark magic users, none of light magic.

Eliora didn't argue as Alik led her into what she assumed was an old classroom. Once Alik shut the door, Eliora had a brief moment of panic before the room flooded with light. Blinking to get used to the change in brightness, Eliora glanced around her new surrounding. They were in a vaguely ominous room, covered with dust and cobwebs. At the center of the room stood what at first glance appeared to be a bird bath, but Eliora figured it was likely something much more interesting considering the type of school they were at.

Alik walked towards it, and Eliora hesitated to follow until he beckoned her forward. She tentatively looked into the pool, fearful of what Alik's intentions might be. The basin was full of some sort of black liquid, that was almost reflective but wasn't. "What is it?" She asked him quietly, as though the slightest sound might disturb whatever was in that basin.

Alik glanced up before turning his attention back to the looking pool. "It's a looking pool. You know what a looking glass is right? Well this is similar to that. But looking glass is something witches and wizards make by charming a mirror. This is much more powerful and something only dark magic users have ever used." Pausing he ran his finger over the edge of the stone circle. As he did this the water began to spin the the direction his finger was moving. "A looking glass can be blocked with charms or charmed objects. Another thing about looking mirrors is that if you are watching someone with it, it tends to be easy to detect. This though cannot be blocked and you would never know if someone was watching you."

Grinning he stopped his hand movements and the black water stilled as well. "Most people can't even use these, it's to complicated for them. Or the looking pool won't work for them. Many people think there are none of these left, they had all been destroyed except for a few. A lot of magical objects that people think have been destroyed are in reality just missing. They were misplaced, this being one of them. Now let's see what your roommate and her friend are up to."

Reaching out he swept his hand just above the black water, almost touching it. When he did this the water rippled and shifted. After a second an image began to form. It was of the angel's dorm room. At first it was just the image, no sound. They only had to wait a second before they could hear their voices. It was almost like a movie was playing on the black water. As he listened to what they were talking about Alik raised an eyebrow. They were talking about Angel and it didn't sound like anything good.

Eliora was horrified at the implications of the looking pool. This was very dark magic, and would give demons the ability to spy on Heaven without anyone the wiser; who's to say they hadn't been doing it fir ages? Eliora had always felt so safe at home, but now she knew that she'd never be able to feel that way again. It didn't even matter how many left there were, for Eliora would always be left wondering. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she watched as Alik gestured over the basin, the water following his movements.

An image appeared in the water, though it was rather fuzzy and hard to hear, which Eliora was pretty sure was because she technically wasn't supposed to be seeing it. Leave it to demons to find loopholes. Though it wasn't a clear picture, Eliora saw Ciralyn and her friend sitting on a bed, so she assumed they were looking at her dorm room. The scene's volume increased, though there was too much static for the angel to accurately decipher what was being said. She caught her name as well as the word "demon", but not much else.

She turned back to Alik, who was staring intently at the bowl. "What are they saying?" She asked.

Alik stared into the pool, watching and listening intently. His face turned slightly sour as he listened to what they were saying. To him the image and volume was perfectly clear. Then again he was a demon, the darkest kind of creature with the darkest magic. This was child's play to him. Once he grew tired of hearing the nasty things they said he muted their voices. The room was once again silent.

"Listen, Angel..." Turning to look at her he paused and thought over what to say. Deciding to not lie to her he began to speak again. "They were talking about you and what they were saying we're not exactly the nicest things. The two of them were calling you a 'demon's pet' among other things." He kept the more...explicit things they had said to himself.

Eliora was silent at Alik's words. Well that rather stung. She had known that Ciralyn wasn't too fond of her at the moment, but she honestly didn't think that her roommate disliked her bad enough to talk about her behind her back. Alik's downplay of the girl's words hadn't fooled her one bit; she knew that he had sugarcoated it for her benefit. Perhaps this was why the looking pool was considered dark magic; not because of who could watch you, but because of the nature of what you might see. People weren't meant to know what was said behind closed doors. One of the "golden rules" young angels were taught in grade school was to never eavesdrop, because you may not always like what you heard. Well, Eliora could certainly attest to that.

Eliora promised herself that she wouldn't cry; not here, not in front of him, and most certainly not over two people who didn't deserve her tears. If she was honest though, that promise was going to be very hard to keep if she didn't get some space. "I'd like to leave now." She murmured to Alik.

Alik reached out and grabbed her wrist gently and pulled her over. He was a demon but he still could be caring at times. Wrapping an arm around her he gave her a quick hug . "Alright we can leave. Just let me do one thing real quick." He turned back to look at the looking pool. The images were still playing but no noise could be heard. Waving his hand over it their voices once again filled the room.

He stared at it intently and murmmered words under his breath. As he was muttering the words what was going on in the room changed. The innocent little butterflies that they had made turned gray and decade. The smell of death filled the room as the butterflies began to fall and land around the two girls. He snickered at hearing their screams. After watching it for a moment he waved his hand over the black water, making the sound cut off and the image disappear. "Now we can go."

Eliora watched mutely as he cursed the butterflies that Ciralyn had conjured. She was torn; in heaven it was customary that when you were upset you were to keep yourself composed in public, and then get group of friends together to break down with, in order to begin the healing process. Most of her just wanted to find a nice quiet place to let all of her frustration and loneliness out, but there was a small part of her that just wanted to sob into his chest. Did that mean that she considered him a friend? She wasn't sure, and she didn't like that all too much.

Nodding gratefully as he voiced his agreement to leave, she opened the door and filed out, the demon following a few feet behind. She supposed she could chance heading back to dorm, odds were that the girls had left after Alik's spell.

Alik followed after he when he exited the room. He made sure to close the door behind him and put a charm on the door so no one could enter without him. Once that was done he quickly caught up with her and walked beside her. Occasionally he would glance at her from the corner of his eye. It was easy to tell she was about to break down and cry. Shifting nervously he turned to look at her. "You...um... Might not want to go to your dorm. It will take a while for the butterflies to disappear."

She wanted to scream. Of course they'd still be there, her luck had seemed to run out the second she'd stepped out of Heaven. "I do not have much of a choice." She told him, trying and failing to keep her voice steady. "Where else in am I supposed to go go? Dinner is not for hours." She wasn't keen to go outside again, as her skin was extremely fair and she'd probably already risked what little luck she had with the few hours she'd spent in the gardens.

Alik reached out and gently took her hand. "Come on I want to show you another place I found. This one I think you'll actually like." he pulled her akin as he walked. Weaving down the hallways and taking turn after turn. Finally they reached a spiral stair case. Looking around he made sure no one was around. No one was the place was completely empty and silent. He silently lead her up the stairs. Once they reached the top it was almost as if they had entered a fairy garden, which they had. Beautiful flowers and other plants were everywhere, creatures that looked like butterflies flew around in the air. Except they weren't butterflies. The tiny creatures were fairies. There were a few different types of fairies. Ones like this and ones that were human sized. The room was brightly light and the ceiling was charmed to look like a bright and clear sky. He didn't know why no one else knew of the room, all he knew was that it had been forgotten about. Turning back he looked at her, waiting for her reaction.

Eliora looked around the room in awe, her woes temporarily forgotten. Of course she'd see fairies before, as they were one of the elite non-angel supernatural species allowed in Heaven. Whenever she'd go and visit her father at work there'd always be a few of them floating around on diplomatic business. No, she was no stranger to their kind, but nonetheless this place was absolutely breathtaking. There had to be thousands of fairies flying around, forming intricate shapes and formations in the air. Even the room itself was simply beyond words. Speechless, Eliora held out her hand and a blue haired fairy with light pink wings landed in her palm. She couldn't help but smile, feeling her entire face light up at he pure majesty around her. Alik could argue the dark magic supernaturals had the most fun, but, as the fairies who were attracted to her glow began to dance around her head, Eliora knew that there were definitely some perks attached to light magic.

Alik stared at her as the fairies danced around her in the air. The fairies stayed away from him, never coming close. Most supernaturals had a glow around them. The light magic users and light supernaturals tended to have a golden, white, or any other light color. While the darker supernaturals and dark magic users had a different sort of glow. Many of them had dark purples, reds, and grays. Most demons had completely black ones. Another thing about the glow was that you could tell what someone was thinking or feeling from it. The edges would change color according to their mood. Even humans had this they just didn't have the glow to go along with it.

Alik though didn't have a glow that surrounded him. Because of this the fairies never came near him, to afraid to even risk it. Staring at Eliora he could see how happy she was. Well it looked like he had done something right.

She laughed as one of the fairies landed on her nose, causing her to sneeze. She glanced over at Alik who was watching her in return, and she threw him a smile. Perhaps she had misjudged him; clearly even demons were capable of doing nice things. "Thank you, for all of this." She said gesturing to the garden around them. She picked a little purple flower from the ground near them and stuck it in her hair. For just a second she thought that she saw the edges of Alik's aura get lighter, but as soon as it was there, it was gone again. Maybe, she thought, just maybe, he was happy, too.

Spotting a tree a few yards a way that was covered in a fruit that she couldn't name, she sprinted towards it before flying up to find a spot to sit in it's branches. She gestured to Alik to come join her, before grabbing a fruit to try.

Alik's lips twitched upward slightly as he stated at her. A weird feeling had settled in his chest and he didn't know what it was. The feeling made his chest ache and warmth spreed throughout his body. His stomach doing flip flops the longer he stared at her. This thing he was feeling...he didn't know what it was. It was completely new to him. At the same time though he enjoyed the feeling. As she beckoned him over he just stood there for a moment just staring at her. Snapping out of it he followed after her. He didn't know what this feeling was...but he wanted to figure it out. "So I take it you like it here, I'm glad."

She sighed dreamily. "I love it here. It's beyond gorgeous." She took another bite of the fruit, letting the flavors dance over her tongue. It tasted rather like cinnamon apples mixed with something distinctly citrus. It was strange, but Eliora loved it, and had to reduce the urge to lick the juices from her fingers. She looked around the branches near them for a good one, before pulling it down and handing it to Alik. "Here, you should try it. I not entirely sure what kind of fruit it is, but it's delicious."

He watched as she took a bite from the fruit, the look of pure bliss on her face. Hesitantly he reached a pale hand out and took the fruit. The paleness of his skin and black claw like nails stood out against the brightness of the fruit. Holding it up he took a bite, his sharp teeth easily piercing through it. as soon as the taste hit his tongue he almost gagged at the taste. It was bitter and just down right horrible. Spitting it out he looked down at the fruit in his hand. It was rotten and starting to blacken. With just one touch and one bite he had turned the fruit rotten. Letting it fall from his hand he watched as it fell to the ground. His eyes were half lidded as he stared after it. The sound of a small thud heard as it finally reached the ground. His face was blank as he stared after it. Something that had once been beautiful...now turned rotten. The blackened and rotten fruit stood out against the beauty of the place. "...I don't think I should eat the fruit here...."

Eliora watched as the fruit died in Alik's hands, her mood which had just moments ago been so joyous was abruptly turned solemn. She glanced nervously at his face as he stared at the blackened fruit before letting it fall to the ground. His face was void of any expression, yet to Eliora, that somehow seemed worse than if he had looked upset. "Come on," she said, standing up on the branch and brushing off her uniform, before unfurling her wings and grabbing Alik's hand. "We will just have to find something else to do."

Alik stared down at the fruit blankly. In all honesty he didn't know how to feel about what had happened. He hadn't even realized the other had stood up until his hand was suddenly grabbed. Blinking in surprise at this he slowly stood as well. He had grabbed her hand before but each time it was because he wanted to. Never had he thought she would have grabbed his hand willingly.

At his blank look, she pulled at his hand insistently. It would be rude to just pull him to his feet, but she wasn't sure if he was still mentally here. "Come on, we can fly over to that hill over there, if you'd like. We can just relax for awhile, maybe just talk or something of the likes."
