Summoners of Vieniss

  1. Background information: An ancient legend had spread about a mystical power found in the 'Medas de Vieniss' or 'Medals of Vieniss'. There were no recordings in history about these medals, but it was accepted by the people. Some had sought for this power their entire lives but couldn't even discover so much as a trace of it. Others were beginning to think that this legend was just a myth. What they didn't know was that the Medals of Vieniss were marks only on humans that were born with an unnatural talent in the spiritual arts.

    In fact, the Medals of Vieniss had been destroyed a long long time ago, but their power lingered until they found a host capable of withholding and keeping its unstable abilities in control. These abilities included channeling spirits from Purgatory, from the Underworld, or from the Heavens. Those that were lucky were only able to speak to these spirits by being near their body. The less fortunate were considered more gifted.

    There were many people marked with these medals that didn't even know those marks were what they were, but the gifted were capable of much more. They would be able to see a type of nightmare a child was having, or literally see the mental illness that was haunting their friends, loved ones, or even strangers. They could not stop the creature itself, but they could help the person fight it themselves with their words.

    They were also able to summon spirits, usually from Purgatory, but Underworld or Heavenly spirits were not rare, just uncommon. However, summoning these spirits was incredibly risky. If something went wrong during the summoning, the summoner could be stripped of all of their senses or, worst case scenario, they explode from the inability to adapt to the raw energy coursing through their bodies.

    Another problem is that these spirits had grown up in an entirely different era than the summoners. It will be up to the summoners and the spirits to try and get along despite their cultural, linguistical, and behavioral differences. Maybe even religious depending on where the spirit came from. The downside of a summon? The spirit can not leave their summoner until said summoner breaks the link between them. The problem with that? The summoners won't know how to, and locating that information is nearly impossible.



    The Plot:


    The 3 major regions are suffering greatly from anything and everything it could go through. The territories just seemed to be falling apart while an unusual increase in mental illnesses had begun to flourish and with it, the suicide rates. The spiritual people take notice in this, and so do the normal ones. The normal people, desperate and afraid, begin to blame the spiritual beings for their psychological problems. Thus begins the shunning, murders, and them being sent to camps to be executed.

    The summoner characters, during their time in one of the labor camps they were sent to, discover a way on how to summon spirits. The way they do is up to you. Deciding they have nothing left to lose, they summon one of the spirits assigned to them at random to see if it works. It does, and they discover that both need each other's help.


    RULES


    1. All Iwaku rules apply

    2. Please do not start drama in the OOC. IC is okay

    3. There are no limits to how many characters you can control so long as you can keep up with them

    4. I will decide which spirit is summoned by who at random. Some Summoners will be able to get two or more depending on the amount of characters made.

    5. Spirits will not be able to interact to non summoners. Summoners, you cannot reveal you are a summoner to normal people unless you want to get sent back to the execution line.

    6. Uuhhh, oh! Romance, engagements, and marriages is absolutely great! But if a summoner romances a spirit, well, I'm sure you know what'll happen.

    7. Demonic spirits and Heavenly spirits can romance each other. In this world, they're not enemies. Rather polar opposites of one another.

    8. Do not OP your spirits please. The spirits can get sent to Purgatory if "killed" by the creatures, but they will just come back to the summoner after a certain amount of time until said summoner can break their bond.



    CAST LIST AND INFORMATION


    Basic character type information:

    Summoners:
    These are gifted spiritual beings. They possess the abilities of summoning spirits, seeing the psychological trauma a person is undergoing, and locating the cause and source of a mental illness. Their abilities could aid or doom a fellow human being, depending on the type of person they are.

    Heavenly Spirits: The Heavenly Spirits radiate positive emotions and a soothing aura about them. They were individuals that grew old and died of natural causes or met a premature death through no fault of their own. They willingly and physically fight the nightmares and beasts portraying the mental illnesses with specially crafted weapons.

    Underworld Spirits: The Underworld Spirits radiate a negativity about them that makes any Summoner want to get away from them. They were individuals that committed suicide for whatever reason or committed a great sin. Their eternal punishment is fighting these creatures that haunt children and people as nightmares, trauma, or psychological sickness with specially crafted weapons whether they like it or not. While the Heavenly Spirits can't feel the pain of being attacked by these beasts, the Underworld Spirits most certainly can and it must heal at its own snail pace; Another part of their punishment.



    Descriptions of the 3 major territories:

    Abresa Vale is a predominantly European like culture (with fantasy elements here and there) which is heavily religious and power hungry. They created their law and culture based on their Commandments. Speaking their God's name out of vain is incredibly offensive to them. These people are naturally dominant and make the best of leaders/fighters, but they fall short on human psychology. It doesn’t mean they’re stupid, it means they’re not the best at reading a human’s emotions..

    Bristovinna is a passive culture that focuses more on education and its many deities (Roman/Greek culture going on here). The people from here are more logical thinkers. They can still fight but the Abresans will overpower them if the Bristovinnians don't train enough physically.

    Winterval is the most Eastern like cultural wise; Charitable and focuses more on a person's character than their wealth. They are raised to be generous and will judge a person entirely on their character. Their intelligence and strength is balanced; Not surpassing Bristovinna or Abresa but not bad. They are psychologically gifted which proves incredibly useful when negotiating (or when someone is trying to trick them). They'll usually get the better deal if even by a little.


    Abresa Vale Timeline (open)


    Year 1100


    • Year 1100-1109: Rise of the Valis civilization; Evolution from small tribe
    • Year 1110-1113: Complete domination of the Lokinah Plains, Salvis Rivers, and all animals that nourish the lands. The Valis civilization adopts a Monarchy style government
    • Year 1114-1136: Civilization flourishes, technology advances only slightly (Buckets, Clothes, simple stuff), Religion is discovered
    • Year 1162-1189: Religion flourishes; Non believers begin to arise but remain silent
    • Year 1189-1199: Lost Decade



    Montrecasa Era
    (Year 1200-1380)


    Year 1200


    • Year 1200-1205: King Alis Montrecasa claims the throne. Medicinal Revolution| Huge supply in Medicine increase and development
    • Year 1220-1224: Overpopulation| Starvation and poverty ensues
    • Year 1225-1227: Technological advancements in torture and execution devices. Spending most of the treasury on this and the Religious church
    • Year 1241-1256: Uprising of all non believers; Religious revolution ensues. Death of King Montrecasa passes away. Prince Virgil Montrecasa claims the throne.
    • Year 1286-1290: Executions of non believers ensue regardless of age during the Revolution (Deaths by the tub, drowning, the guillotine, impalement, hanging and other methods. The most preferred being the human coffin). People were marked with a special tattoo if they didn’t convert to the dominating religion.
    • Year 1290: Leader of the revolution, Milo Bristovinna, and followers secede from Abresa Vale to new territory. Beginning of the Bristovinna civilization.


    Year 1300


    • Year 1320: King Virgil Montrecasa is assassinated, Prince Virgil Montrecasa II claims the throne at 13 years old.
    • Year 1340-1348: Treasury is evenly distributed to fund education, medicine, and anything else necessary. Times are great. Virgil Montrecasa II works on creating treaties and expanding territories. The King cannot have children, so Virgil II adopts a daughter and arranges a marriage with the next heir of the Rimoni territory to seal a treaty or risk war.
    • Year 1360-1450: Nine decades of peace. A shrine of King Virgil Montrecasa II is built in his honor.
    • Year 1380: King Virgil Montrecasa II retires. Princess Uriel Montrecasa is wed to Prince Reuban Rimoni. Valis and Rimoni join together to become Abresa Vale




    Rimoni Era

    (Year 1380-1485)

    Year 1400


    • Year 1453: Medas de Vieniss legend is spread. King Reuban and Queen Uriel passed away and left the land to their oldest son Lucius, who is 16.
    • Year 458-462: Vieniss Conquest for the Medals begins, leader being Explorer Kornell Lokess. Conquest ends up being a waste of time with no trace of Vieniss.



    • Year 1465-1466: Blacksmiths Revolution; Weapons begin to become upgraded and much more deadly. Swords, armors, daggers, shields, etc. become more abundant.
    • Year 1467-1484: King Lucius is assassinated by his younger twin brother Hiro and said younger brother takes on Lucius’ identity. King Hiro’s reign
    • Year 1484: King Hiro is revealed to be King Lucius. His crime is uncovered, and he is executed via guillotine. His children are not allowed to claim the throne in fear of Hiro’s corruption
    • Year 1485: A new King is selected. Great warrior Sebastian Lesinnar is chosen.



    Lesinnar Era
    (Year 1485-Present)



    • Year 1490: Sebastian directs more of the treasury to the military, causing medicine to become more scarce, schools to close down in favor of the warriors, and payments of workers to go down. Begins to treat his people as lesser beings.
    • Year 1491-1493: Every man and woman of age are made to register their names into the drafts. As such, they are all made to go to a training camps to build physical strength, cardio, and overall like warriors. Medals of Vieniss’ legend is discovered again. Sebastian sends out a militia to try and locate these power items.
    • Year 1494-1495: Protesting arises against the training camps and pointless journey for the Medals. Protesters are swiftly attacked and executed by the King himself in a massive genocide.
    • Year 1500-1510: King Sebastian Lesinnar sends his warriors out to invade and conquer new lands. He successfully takes Paetnis, Maryina, and Tuvria. Fails to capture Bristovinna. Medals of Vieniss is unsuccessful with no trace once again.
    • Year 1515: All warriors are trained harder to become better. This eventually backfires because King Lesinnar is assassinated by one of his soldiers. Five of Sebastian’s children had run away to join Bristovinna earlier that year. The one that remained, Prince Krolas Lesinnar, fought for his right to the throne. Literally.
    • Year 1520-1547: Abresa Vale’s treasury is restored to normal. The training camps for warriors are unchanged because of the combat capabilities they have now.
    • Year 1547-1569: King Krolas conquers 2 more territories near Bristovinna. Revolutioners secede from Bristovinna and become Winterval. Begins treaty with Winterval and Bristovinna to ensure they would not begin major war. A statue of Krolas is erected in his honor.
    • Year 1570: King Krolas passes away. His only daughter Sillia is crowned at 17 and becomes the first Queen to rule Abresa Vale alone.
    • Year 1578-580: Queen Sillia is named fairest and most beautiful. Many suitors arrive to the castle in hopes that she would take them as her husband. To their surprise, Queen Sillia fell in love with and married her best friend, Athena. This would be the very first homosexual marriage in the history of Abresa Vale.
    • Year 1584: Queen Sillia and Queen Athena adopt twin boys Antoni and Levon.
    • Year 1590: Queen Athena is assassinated. Queen Sillia commits suicide out of grief. Both boys discuss amongst each other and agree that Levon will take the throne. He is crowned at 16. Medals of Vieniss’ legend becomes long forgotten.
    • Year 1604-1650: King Levon rules Abresa Vale in peace. He strengthens the warriors further. Antoni becomes his right hand man because of his intelligence. King Levon and Antoni pass away a day apart. Prince Silliun (18) is crowned King and marries Princess Ceria (25) to seal a treaty between Abresa Vale and another territory, expanding Abresa’s land.
    • Year 1652-Present: King Silliun and Queen Ceria are still ruling.

    Year 1300-1326: Bristovinna Civilization arises. Imperialism type of government is adopted. Milo Bristovinna is selected as first Emperor. Mosaic of him is created

    Year 1347: Emperor Bristovinna passes away. His son Ade' Bristovinna (17) marries their military General Lassaya Rinnis (Woman; 31).
    Year 1349-1452: Emperor Ade' Bristovinna directs funding in favor of medicine and education.

    Year 1372-1377: Emperor Ade' Bristovinna's three children are kidnapped and held for ransom. Oldest is killed but the other two are set free. Captors are executed via limb dismemberment. Education flourishes. Plenty of doctors to aid the ill. Life expectancy of Bristovinnians increased from 50's to 90's.

    Year 1389: Emperor Ade' Bristovinna passes away. His remaining son and daughter (Ages 20 and 18) marry to keep the bloodline pure. Mosaic of his son is created as next Emperor

    Year 1400-1408: Plague spreads around Bristovinna, killing thousands. Livestock begin to parish because of illnesses, making said meat worthless. Bristovinnians resort to cannibalism to stay alive. Those caught eating another person are executed for murder.

    Year 1415-1445: Population dwindling. Maximum research and funding goes into the medicinal department.

    Year 1449: Bristovinna doctor Layn Plippine, Son of Ade' from an affair, finds cure for the plague and delivers vaccinations to the entire territory. Mosaics of him and Ade' Bristovinna II are created in their honor.

    Year 1451-1455: Emporer Ade' Bristovinna II and his wife Korcin Bristovinna pass away. Their daughter Celia takes over as Empress (25 years old)

    Year 1460-1462: Population rises; Babies are being born left and right to accommodate for the lives of those lost during the plague.

    Year 1473-1489: Schools flourish with children. Playgrounds are created for them. Rewards are given to those that excel in their studies. Funding is directed in favor of medicine and education.

    Year 1495: Empress Celia is assassinated. Her son Inu (24) takes over. A mosaic of Inu is created in his honor. Medals of Vieniss legend is heard and has explorers wandering the lands in search of it.

    Year 1521: Emporer Inu is assassinated. His daughter Coressana is made Empress at only 9 years old. A mosaic is created in her honor. Medals ofVieniss turns up short. To avoid separating family, Coressana ceases any further attempts of finding it, so legends remain legends.

    Year 1532-1543: Starvation and unemployment. People are stealing from one another. Empress Coressana creates treaties with neighboring lands trying to do something good. The neighboring lands offer food in exchange for money. Empress Coressana agrees and the exchange is made at the sacrifice of less money to pay employees. Riots ensue.

    Year 1546-1548: Employment goes up after discovering that shops had been using child labor. Children are compensated for their work and sent to school for a proper education.

    Year 1550-1560: Rebellion ensues followed by civil war. Revolutioners bargain with Coressana for a small portion of land and begin new territory called Winterval.

    Year 1572: Empress Coressana passes away. Her son Kethren and his wife Sephira take over. (Ages 45 and 42) Mosaic of Kethren is made in his honor.

    Year 1576-1577: Emporer Kethren and Empress Sephira die in a fire that occurred at the theatre. Their daughter (16) takes over as Empress. Mosaic is made in her honor

    Year 1580-1581: Empress is assassinate. Her younger brother (15) Eran takes over and a mosaic is made in his honor

    Year 1601-1620: Music and Art flourish. New talent is discovered left and right. Some are killed by others to try and gain more attention.

    Year 1625-1650: Huge advancement in technology regarding prisons and execution methods.

    Year 1692: Emporer Eran passes away. Son Milo takes over (32). Mosaic is made in his honor.

    Year 1692-1702 (Present): Emporer Milo is still ruling




    Winterval Timeline (Small because territory is still developing (open)


    Year 1550-1565: Rise of Winterval Civilization. Population is abundant because of the amount of followers. Democracy type government is adopted. Eight of the wisest men and the Revolution leader are selected.

    Year 1570-1575: Scarcity in food and medicine. Orphanages become overpopulated due to parents dying of illness.

    Year 1582-1585: Many become homeless. Only the wealthy have homes and some willingly allow for them to live with them.

    Year 1601: Replacement of Council due to deaths. Entire new Council elects to sell inventions and labor to other neighboring territories.

    Year 1652-1654: Economy is great. Plenty of homes are built, providing jobs for the homeless. Population increase.

    Year 1670-1675: Council negotiates for unused land, manages to grow twice for a cheap price.

    Year 1678-1686: People migrate to new lands. Farming and agriculture becomes best source of economy. Winterval begins trading with Bristovinna and other regions.

    Year 1700-Present: Abundance of crops and medicine. Employment is available anywhere. Winterval is still developing into its own territory.

  5. So I plan to make a underworld spirit who would have a backstory that might be influential enough that it'd be a known spot in history. My other character (a heavenly spirit) will have a backstory connected to him as well. Is that acceptable?

  7. My Characters can function just fine without magic, but what is the case of magic outside of summoners and spirits in the world?
     
  8. Considered a myth and irrelevant to life. Magic like elemental control and what not with humans isn't a thing. Spirits have enchanted weapons and limited light and dark magic usage, most of which goes into said weapons.
     
  9. Alright. So that works just fine. You see my dark spirits going to be an apothecary by trade, so now I know to treat it with more science, not magic
     
  10. M'kay. This is also like... Back in the past, so if your character manages elemental magic, they'll probably get executed for being a witch or something . The spiritual beings don't even have their own place in history and are currently getting blamed for all the problems
     
  11. (Gotta add this in here and to the other stuff)

    Things to know:

    -As a Summoner, if you die, the bond breaks and your spirit has to go back to where they were summoned or to another Summoner if bondings were exchanged.
    -As a Demonic spirit, you will begin to feel weak and pains equivalent to severe arthritis after a certain amount of time. The pain will continue until you kill a creature, in which said creature will fuel your crystal called "Hope". You will not get stronger just by killing creatures, you must also give Hope to the person who was affected by their mental illness. This particularly involves Heavenly spirits as well, except they won't feel any pain.
    -Spirits can kill one another, but it is really frowned upon and can lead to severe consequences by the Heavenly and Demonic Congresses.
    -Heavenly Spirits and Demonic Spirits work together in this (I think I mentioned this). They don't conflict with one another as Abresa Vale's religion states.
    -You can use normal English instead of Medieval/Victorian to make things easier, but Spirits will not understand most slang and new technology Summoner's have (depending on when the Spirit died).
    -One could say that Spirits will have "collars" on them attached to their Summoner. The further away, the more the Spirits feel themselves being pulled back to their Summoner.
    -Spirits can go back and forth between Summoners if said Summoners exchange bondings. Which means the Summoners have to kiss regardless of gender.

    -For your character sheets, your Spirits do not have to have been part of a major event or anything. They could be someone who lived during the Montrecasa Era or was one of King Sebastian's children that ran away. Just know that the earlier the era they died in, the less they know about the history timelines.

    Weapons: Two short surgical blades enchanted with dark energy also
    due to his knowledge of torture and the human body
    he can fire threads from his body. These threads can be used
    to stitch wounds (Of spirit and summoner). Threads are breakable,
    and if opponent has high pain threshold they can even be forcibly
    removed.

    Biography: Born in Abrasa Vale just before the Montrecasa Era during the time period of intense starvation, his family died out leaving him alone. As a child he had very dark impulses, which led him to become a non-believer but he kept it to himself. He learned much of medicine and human anatomy as he aided in coming up with many of the new methods of torture. When the Executions began under the rule of prince Virgil he did execute some non-believers but it did not bother him as he had an addiction to killing. When it was found out that he was a non-believer he was ordered to be captured and executed but he murdered his would be captors and went on a killing spree. Years passed and how he died is unknown. He was known as Jack the Reaper, his life lead to a change in authorities and upgrade.

    Biography: Formerly Empress Celia of the Bristovinna Empire was assassinated with an arrow to the chest. Before her death she was most intelligent and tactical Empress of her time, as medicine and education had flourished during her rule. She was an avid warrior it is rumored that the assassin was from Adresa Vale due to her advancements was close to rivaling theirs.

    Location: Was born in Abresa Vale royalty, but was captured in Winterval where he was raised

    Biography: Masa was born to a royal family in Abresa Vale but he was a bastard child because his father King Silliun was courting two princesses. He eventually married Princess Ceria because of the treaty between their lands. The other Princess Ersa was impregnated by Silliun but due to her kingdoms plans to have had her marry Prince Silliun falling through her pregnancy was kept secret. For a short period Masa was raised in Abresa Vale but when people began speculating that he could actually be King Silliun's first born child he was exiled to Wintervale.

  15. Looks good so far. However, the locations are within three different regions and not England, France, or anything like that. In this RP, those places don't exist. The three main regions are Abresa Vale, Bristovinna, and Winterval, which is why I'm making timelines for those three areas.


    Plus, I think I forgot to add Gender to the CS. I'm going to add that and could you add those genders to yours?
