Afternoon

Traveling from Breez to the small neighborhood was relatively uneventful. A flock of Wyvern flew overhead, they passed a couple on their way to Breez after doing some trading in Providence and Aster talked most of the way; mostly to Ghost and Emrin. She talked with Lyra for a moment, but after getting the feeling the young redhead wasn't in a talkative mood, she left her alone. Like usual, Logan didn't talk much. He enjoyed watching and listening to the others but he kept his eyes peeled for any trouble.

As they neared the crossroads where Kathleen and the anomaly were supposed to be, Logan let his guard down a bit. A few of Kathleens helped greeted them, but the scientist herself was off staring at the floating blue orb that spun in a circle. Emrin went off towards the Anomaly while Logan set aside his bags. Aster dropped her things to the ground beside him, before going after her friend.
"Have you seen anything try to approach it yet?"
Kathleen nodded and motioned to a pile of dust on the ground. "A Mana-Starved. Ignored all of us and went straight to the Anomaly, then crumbled to dust when it touched it." Aster leaned over the tape a tad bit to get a better look, though was careful not too get too close. "There was also a pack of Tatzelwurms that approached it, but didn't touch it. Strange considering how they are normally lethargic unless hunting." She pointed across to a crushed car just across the crossroads. "A large griffin flew overhead a day ago, before landing on the car. She flew off before she even knew we were here."

"You sure this things safe?"
Logan chimed in, adjusting the revolver on his hip. "No but that's why you all are here." Kathleen answered, turning to face Logan. "To allow me to accurately study it without any creatures interfering with me or my crew." Logan shook his head and motioned at the younger members in his party. "Nope, that's what the kids are doing. I got babysitting duty. Feel free to put them to work, I'll be drinking and playing cards." Heading off towards the gas station where most of the other members of Kathleens group were already set up.
Aster Russo
Watching her father walk off towards the gas station, Aster turned back towards the orb. "So what do you need me to do Miss Ramadan?" The orb was pretty and for a moment she could swear she saw something move within it. "For now unpack your things in the gas station. I'm sure you all could use a meal. Voyd set up some traps around the area so it should suffice as a warning system for the moment." Aster didn't answer, her attention on the orb. She stared only a moment longer before nodding and going towards the gas station.

Lyra Rosewald

The road to the campsite was fairly quiet. The only time that silence was broken for Lyra was for the few minutes Aster tried to strike up a conversation. After receiving a few monosyllabic answers from Lyra, she gave up, leaving the young woman alone.

Once they reached the campsite, the scientists came to greet them after they were certain the group wasn’t a bunch of shambling mana-starved. As everyone began to settle in, Lyra found a cozy shade by the fire next to some of the people preparing food for the camp. She lowered her scarf from her nose and pulled back her hood, letting out a sigh of relief. She couldn’t help but let her guard down, finding a warm and dark corner to settle into, after a long trek.

Nomad

Arriving at the location of which had a camp set up with tools and other instruments that Nomad didn't understand what any of them did, but what could be gleamed from the fact that there was something a good distance away with a border marked to keep people at a safe distance, the blue orb looked mesmerizing that Nomad felt his eyes lock onto it, his thoughts running muddled. Only broken by a sudden and deep chill, like something was trying to urge him away, to run back to wherever he came from. The chill sent shivers down his spine, forcing him to cross his arms across his chest to make some warmth

He could even swear he heard a voice calling to him, but the words and tone were muffled, words unable to be heard and understood. But the longer he stared at the orb, the more the feeling dulled until it was no more, or at the least was akin to the chill of a light breeze in spring. He shook his head, thinking that anxiety about being in a situation such as this with something unknown was getting to him, he needed to relax.

And what better method than to sketch this anomaly.

Taking a seat next to what was a pump that had long since went unused and looked to be caked in rust among other things like spray paint and some other stuff Nomad couldn't properly identify. With his backpack next to him and his hunting rifle set up against the pump, Nomad would pull out his journal and a small pencil, flipping the journal to a unmarked page. Taking the pencil and he would begin the process to sketch the orb and the area around it, drawing a nearly perfect copy in drawing form of what he was seeing, dropping the initial motive to just sketch.

He didn't leave any detail un-drawn, as Nomad wanted it to be perfect so that if needed, his sketch could be used as documentation regarding the orb and the area around it. Not to say that the others including the scientist lady's team hadn't already done that, he just wanted to play safe. That and drawing a picture had relaxed him. It was to the point that looking at the orb actually soothed his wary mind, though the chill was still there in his head, like a part of him was so utterly scared, it couldn't do anything.

Nomad hoped that it would pass soon...

Emrin stared at the orb. It was strangely mesmerizing. She almost couldn't take her eyes off of it. After staring at it for a moment longer, she followed Aster to put her things down at the gas station. After getting a quick drink of water she ran back to where the orb was and started asking Kathleen questions. "Have you tried throwing anything at it? Or poking it when something? Did you analyze the dust yet? What's it like compared to the portals? You know, colorwise and stuff. Mana-starved are attracted to large sources of magic, so if one ran straight to it I think we can assume that it must have a lot of magical energy. " She bent down and rubbed some between her fingers.

This kind of thing was fun to her. She had always been curious by nature and figuring out what this orb was was like solving a difficult puzzle. She stood and looked at the orb again. "It's kind of pretty, don't you think?" She asked Aster. She grinned. "This is kinda exciting. A little terrifying too though since that mana-starved turned to dust just by touching it."

Ghost
Though logan had voiced his opinion, he hadn’t said much more on the job ahead, Nissa deciding that perhaps a conversation with him about all things to grunt and grumble about was best done when the others were busy helping and there was a bottle between them. What was evident however from the moment they began the journey to Kathleen, Aster was not going to walk in silence any time soon, busily telling her all about her job at Jay’s and her adventures. Nissa ignored the question on what she had been up to, not one to open up on her day to day routines, instead entertaining Aster’s vibrant chatter by asking small probing questions. Though it took most of her attention between checking their surroundings as the group progressed, once thing Nissa did take notice of was the very low stuttery words coming from Nomad, a small smile rising at the thought that she had finally heard his voice, as much as it had only been a low whisper.
__

By the time the group reached their destination, Nissa slowed in her approach as they greeted Kathleen, unable to ignore the giant blue orb in the centre of the area. Anything that stood out from the setting always left her feeling unsettled, apart from the fact that this thing seemed to have a life of its own. She made brief eye contact with Kathleen and nodded, her eyes moving straight back to the orb that was sectioned off.

“What the hell,” Nissa uttered as she finally stopped beside Emrin.
