The Great Houdini

Harry is standing with Benjie when miss Yuzuki makes her brief & threatening speach. Harry does make a mental note on how the Samurai turns on a dime mentally. One moment rather savagely telling everyone, but particularly Benjie to stay away from her family member. The next moment quite friendly to Burton.

Grim too seems back to normal... Grumpy and sullen. Benjie retreating for time alone to go back to his guitar. The Unicorn seems upset about Anne's new friend Fergus. Even the Princess is quietly fuming. So Harry remains quiet, cautious and watchful. He finds himself looking Fergus over with Curiousity.

Sir Richard

Burton too notices there are some people getting into a poor mood to say the least. He continues chatting with Yuzuki, choosing to overlook her own seemingly brief anger.

"I would certainly enjoy doing that Milady Yuzuki. I do think it would benefit us all to refresh our skills with one another. (He gestures to Leonidas, Genessa & Anne.) I dare say King Leonidas weapon skills are fresh, Genessa has told me she is familiar with the sword, and Anne looks rather capable herself. "

He turns to the king and Queen now.

"Forgive me Majesties, as an old fellow, I gently ask you if arraingements for sleeping quarters have been made? I didn't sleep much during the journey from Doren last night, and I could use a nap. Of course, I would not oppose anyone in our group as roomate if that is necessary. I do think perhaps there are more than a couple cases of tired & frayed tempers that this would help with. "

Burton thinks for a moment about sleeping arrangements, really finding no real disagreement with any of the other men. He thinks Harry is a bit odd, Dean is probably has a bad case of American sarcasm. Grimm would simply need a bath...Benjie and Leonidas are warriors.. Sleep will come easy for either. His mind drifts to the ladies present, all three capable, but only Anne so far easily approachable in his opinion.

He thought about approaching King Richard, but dismissed it for a better time.

Anne eyes Niji curiously when the unicorn comes at her so fast. "Aye, what be yer problem ya funny-lookin' equine?" She asks looking at Niji and up at her hat. She can't understand what Niji is really saying, but gets the impression she's upset at Fergus perching on the hat the way he is. Fergus she has no problem understanding even if not in words. Fergus replies to Niji with a threat to leave him be, or else. This vague threat is enough to send the young unicorn running away in startled fear. Fergus makes a twitter of triumph, and Anne laughs holding her sides.

"Oi Zuki!" Anne points at Fergus, then at Niji "Bird beats horse!" She reaches up and pets Fergus on the top of his little feathered head. "Thas righ Fergus, don let yer size scare ya from keepin' whas yers." She goes over to Benji then and sits next to him, enjoying his song with her eyes closed. "Ya know every crew needs a musician. Glad we already gots one. Maybe I'll teach ya a couple shanties when we ain't kickin' arse." She tells him without opening her eyes.

"And I, Genessa Eloise Orlock, welcome you at my side." Genessa smiles at Grimm and, noting his look and demeanor, tells him "We won't be here long, I think, but you have done very well tempering yourself my friend."

Dean has been keeping an eye on everything he can, and when the Queen and Princess had returned notes the look in the younger girl's eyes but can't think of why, having not been privy to the conversation which had led up to them bringing Genessa back. Speaking of whom, he hopes there will be a chance to properly apologize to her for his earlier remarks.

King Richard does see the look on his daughter's face, and holds his hands out for a hug while smiling apologetically. Queen Gweyr is not as apologetic but still smiles at Shalana. After sharing a light hug with his daughter, Richard turns to address the others.

"Now. With personnel in order, there is the matter of a base and equipment. For a base you will be using Fort Indulai to the West. It is near the border between us and Linia, one of the last forts still standing from the war times and currently maintained only as a historic site. We will send you all there in small caravans with persons and supplies disguised as common travelers, on alternate routes in hopes of deflecting any of Hitler's spies." King Richard looks to his wife. She takes the cue and walks to Houdini, looking over his attire as she speaks.

"And among those persons and supplies, there will be what is needed to better attire and equip you all for the tasks to come." Gweyr shakes her head at Houdini, specifically its state. "Function over fashion, much as I enjoy fashion myself. On that subject, I will have one tailor take notes on your attire sir. I like it's aesthetic and want to include it in my collection."

While Houdini is being talked to by Gweyr, King Richard goes to the two White Guards who have been here from the beginning and tells them "You will leave here to the barracks, tell nobody of what transpired here besides that James Dean gave no secrets, and the Strangers were dismissed."

"Understood, your Royal Highness." The White Guards say in unison and walk out of the gardens.

King Richard walks to James Dean and stands beside him, putting a hand on his right shoulder. "Mr. Houdini, we need you most of all to keep Hitler's power from overcoming James again, and so you must ride with him for this journey."

"That should be fun." James Dean looks over at Harry "We'll have plenty to talk about."

"I ordered these caravans to be prepared before arriving here, and they will be ready to go momentarily. You will be given a Seer Orb attuned to one in our possession." King Richard walks back to his wife and daughter. "We will be expecting regular briefings via this Seer Orb, once a day at the least, however beyond that consider Delfino and Burton your immediate superiors while fulfilling your mission. The military of Gatecia will come to aid your efforts, should you be able to contact me in time."

"And lastly, I wish to personally thank all Strangers for all your future deeds." King Richard holds his head high "This world is not your own, its people not your kin, and for that we will honor you all when the threat to world and people is vanquished. In that spirit, I shall call this gathering by the name given to that gathering of Strangers and natives who ended the terror of Vlad the Impaler twelve years ago; The Liberators. Go forth, and free this world from the threat known as Adolf Hitler."
=============================
And so it transpired that The Liberators were taken from York to Fort Indulai set upon a hilltop facing the border of Linia further West, the journey taking two days for most as its most direct path of one day was avoided. On arrival it was occupied only by a small staff of groundskeepers, cooks, and a small contingent of twenty Gatecian soldiers. Each member was afforded their own quarters in the main building meant for officers but nothing lavish; space enough for a bed and a table with a chair and floor to pace contemplatively. Even James Dean was given quarters, though his door was fitted with large locks and had guards posted at all times. He was told to spend all his time piecing together his fragmented memory to locate key points of Hitler's operations.

Anne Bonny, traveling with Yuzuki and Niji, had picked up her crate of ale from the tavern she'd met Harry in, and drank most of it over the boring two day wagon ride, the monotony of which was broken mostly by Fergus singing his little bird songs for all present either in Anne's hat, or on top of Niji's head.

Genessa had traveled with Grimm, Burton, and Leonidas on a route that took them back to Doren to retrieve some of her things such as a small crate of her medicine kept in her quarters, and all that Grimm would need to preserve his trophy before going to Fort Indulai. On their travels, Genessa regaled her companions with a bit of her family history: The Orlocks were a noble family who made their fortune by cultivating grapes for fine wine, and fermentali or Booze Fruit as Anne knew them. "In a matter of fact, our lands are the only ones which bear blue fermentali. Stronger and sweeter than the common kind served at the gardens." And further on that her father had befriended Kings Richard and Edward before they ascended their thrones, when they were travelling merchants.

James Dean, Harry Houdini, and Benji shared a third wagon, the two more modern Strangers educating Harry on the history of the world as best they could recall. The magic which had imprisoned James never resurfaced even in the time Harry was not observing him, although in that time the wound inflicted by Yuzuki also healed completely by the time they arrived at the fort, but he still made no attempt to run.

It was a full day after everyone had arrived that news came from within, and without.

Firstly, James Dean told the guards at his door to escort him to the War Room, and call for the others to meet there.
======================
"Whas new Mr. Dean?" Anne asks stepping into the War Room. Of the supplies brought with them from York were many items of clothing and weaponry taken from Strangers long-since gone. Anne had been happy to find a long red coat among it all, the type worn by the British naval officers of her time. She sips one of her remaining bottles of ale and leans against the wall beside the door and adjusts her hat. Fergus flies off from her hat to sit and look out one of the large windows.

"Had a bad dream last night." James Dean says looking over the large map nailed to one wall of the War Room at the head of the long table. He had acquired a simple white tunic to replace the one Anne had ripped open, and wore his jacket over that with his jeans and a new pair of hard leather shoes. He still remains shackled at the ankles. "But this one gave me back a location from my time as a puppet."

"Ah-ha! Good!" Anne unsheathes her cutlass, her shiny new cutlass which gleams bright from the tip to its gold-inlaid handle "Been anxious to use my new sword on some real flesh." She sheathes the sword and draws the pistol given to her by Yuzuki "And try this out proper too."

"Careful with that woman." Leonidas says coming into the War Room. He had taken on a simple brown and green tunic and pants since arriving, and would have been mistaken for a native for anyone who did not know of him. "Burton says those things are devastating."

"Don worry yer former highness. I'm saving it for a special occasion or two." Anne holsters the pistol and takes a seat near the head of the table, kicking her booted feet up on the table and reclining back.

"Hah. You would have made for a good Spartan wife." Leonidas takes a seat on the opposite side of the table from her.

"Been a wife, not fer me." Anne retorts with a chuckle. "Me other offer's still open." She tells him with a wink.

"I respectfully decline. Again." Leonidas answers with a chuckle as well.

"Eh. Yer loss~" Anne teases before having another swig of her ale.

"Crass, as usual." Genessa says on her entrance, having heard the last exchange from down the hall. Her Red Shield Guild uniform has been left in Doren, so she now wears a simple gown and cloak to appear a commoner should she need to venture out from the fort. She sits next to Leonidas and looks up at the map. Anne only puts her thumb between her two front teeth while looking at Genessa, who looks back very confused as this has happened once before when Genessa said something to Anne, but doesn't know it's significance enough to know it's an insult.

Yuzuki keeps her gaze upon Benjie, not wavering in the least. Should he say something in contempt of her intentions, she would strike him down where he stood. She doesn't even look towards Harry as he approaches to (essentially) disarm the situation. It's actually good he did. Benjie and Harry start away, and Yuzuki then turns as she scowls to herself.

Things here are so different. So alien. She can barely handle things anymore. She feels herself and her spirit just.. spiraling out of sorts.

She glances back towards Benjie as he moves to his tree once more, and then she looks ahead of herself. As she has of late.. she once more questions if she should just venture out on her own. She genuinely feels like all of these novices (yes, she considers all of them novices and nowhere near as talented or experienced as she) just slow her down. She could hunt down Hitler and his army and kill them for King Richard. Just as she would for her masters back in her world. Just as she's hunted the generals of her enemies one by one and proudly presented their heads to her masters.

But again… this isn't her world. The ways of old may no longer be valid. And that just breaks her heart.

She hears her name as she walks rather aimlessly outside of the 'crowd' there… well she hears most of her name. She puts a little smile on her lips as she looks towards Anne, just as she crows about her little bird. Niji trots in a little circle, throwing her head up and down. As if to silently protest Anne's accusation "Your bird is very brave, Anne." Yuzuki says softly. And then she motions to Niji as she continues. "And she's a unicorn. Not a horse." She chuckles gently at the last part, and Niji then trots over to Yuzuki quickly. She draws a hand up and pats Niji's side gently, comforting. "I won't let the bird harm you. I'll make sure it behaves, yes?" The unicorn nudges Yuzuki with the side of her head, which causes the staunch samurai to chuckle once more, stumbling back a step.

"If you are asking me to train with you…I would be happy to, Richard." She thinks his name is Richard, she doesn't know if they were really properly introduced. "I have found… in this world.. we can not imagine what next we might come across, sir. So perhaps the more knowledge we have of differing styles.. the better prepared we might be." She says with a small smile and a nod, looking up to him. "The more I might be prepared to aid in keeping the group safe."

The King now addresses the group, and Yuzuki's attention turns to him. And Niji's attention turns to giving Fergus the stinkeye. Yuzuki's listens intently to the King, transcribing every word to memory. Fort Indulai… a fort that has been there many years, apparently. So one of her first tasks will be scouring the area surrounding it, looking for any weaknesses of the fort. Common travelers… a brow perks as she looks towards Niji. Do… common travelers go by unicorn? Will Niji stand out to much? Attract to much attention? Perhaps if she starts to suspect such during the trip, she and Niji will abruptly leave the caravan. That's a choice she'll make for herself.

King Richard continues, and she looks down as her hand brushes against the handle of one of the two sheathed swords at her waist. His words… the tone… for a moment she hears her father's voice. Addressing the warriors he had gathered from other clans in defense of his lands. He was very good at such speeches, as King Richard clearly is also. Such speeches are beyond Yuzuki's meager talents. Liberators… they are called. Why does that title bother her? Maybe she still has doubts about the true honor of the Kingdom… somewhere in the back of her mind perhaps she is fearful of what the Kingdoms could be capable of should Hitler be done away with. It's a minute thought, barely there. But there, nonetheless.

The journey to their new base of operations… while some may have found it overly dull and bringing them to the verge of insanity, Yuzuki seemed perfectly content with it. Riding a couple days on horseback… she had been doing such things since she was a child. Circumstances are slightly different, but the idea is the same. She kept the unicorn's reins loosely wrapped around her wrists, her head bowed for much of the time. Sometimes in meditation, sometimes with sleep. Sleeping while atop a steed isn't so difficult once you grow accustom to it. She would pay attention to the songs offered to them by Anne's new friend… and she makes mental note to ask Anne where the hell that bird came from…

And once they arrive, Yuzuki finds a nice stable in the open air for Niji. The unicorn isn't thrilled with having to stay in the stable, surrounded by the many other horses being employed by the fort for various tasks. While Niji does try to make friends with them at first, most of them are to preoccupied in their own stables. Or just ignor Niji. Clearly… they're jealou of Niji's horn. Clearly.

Yuzuki takes in the Orlock history… while she hasn't yet had the chance to really speak to Genessa one on one, she seems to be thoroughly trusted by her comrades. And that's good enough for her. With them all temporarily living here in this fort, perhaps time will come for that. But one thing that does stay with Yuzuki… the Kings were travelling merchants. That.. bothers Yuzuki. But she speaks not a word of that line of thought.

For most this whole time Yuzuki has, in fact, kept to herself. Things were starting to weigh on her mind, and that usually meant she would withdraw into herself. She would avoid really speaking with anyone, save for the courteous greeting in passing. But she would mostly remain in her room. With permission, she had taken one of the smaller sword stands from the armory and put it into her room. It's not exactly the right 'kind' of stand, but it will do. Her blades require at least something in this regard. If nothing else, to show how she honors the blades by keeping them comfortably displayed when not in use. She also aquired a sharpening stone (made of a material she can't identify, but realizes its the best stone she has ever handled) and some small buckets and a table. In very little time she had made the quarters her own. The bed was untouched, as it would be. Sleeping so high off the ground… in something so spongy (in her opinion)… it just wasn't comfortable. A simple straw pillow and blanket would do fine for her. And against one of the walls is the very small table she had aquired. Upon it are 2 candles and a coin. A coin with her family's crest etched upon it. She kept her door closed, but if anyone would be able to peer into her room… they would see she spends most of her time kneeling in front of that little table.

During her time at the castle of King Richard, Yuzuki had taken an interest in the differing garb worn by the castle's inhabitants. More importantly.. how they came across such clothing. Well it was mostly all made right there in the castle. Much to Yuzuki's delight. And so with help, she had tracked down one of the main seamstresses of the Castle. Getting an outfit was rather easy, once again much to Yuzuki's delight. But then came the challenge. Yuzuki spent nearly an hour trying to describe to the seamstress what sort of garb she had wanted in addition to the white dress she has been seen in. Something more traditional… traditional to Yuzuki. And the poor seamstress… this was all new to her. She had no idea what Yuzuki was talking about at first. But finally… things seemed to come together. Measurements were taken, tailors were put to work. And the final product had been awaiting Yuzuki's arrival at Fort Indulai.

Quietly now Yuzuki enters the War Room, her hands folded into the sleeves of the new silken kimono she wears. It's a dark blue color (she had been told it was her mother's favorite color), with lovely floral patterns along the hem and sleeves. A sash is tied about her midsection, and her hair tied back into a bun. She seems very different than the person the group had been interacting with before. She almost seems… more together. And not carrying her swords. Her dark eyes cast down much of the time as she pays attention to those around her. She enters the room not terribly long after Genessa does, moving to a side of the room with the least amount of people about it. Her soft, tender tone comes forth as she moves to her little spot. As she speaks, she barely looks up towards James Dean "Information is good. Additonally… any information on Heetler's lieutenants would be of use. We must assume we will face them once more…"

The young princess of Gatecia was not happy. For the optics of it, she did force a smile while she embraced her father in front of everyone. But she was not happy. She was an unhappy princess, and has there ever been something as sad? Her parents would be able to tell she was faking it, pretending to have gotten over it simply so they would move passed whatever it was that she was upset about.

To send… Genessa… instead of her to the Fort with the Strangers. She does love Genessa, they are friends… but the princess considers herself much more of an authority on the Strangers. As a whole. It isn't Genessa's fault she was sent instead of the Princess, but that doesn't make it better in her eyes. The 'Liberators' were off in their caravans… and now Shalana hurries to her room. One of the maids tries to step up next to her to offer something, but Shalana just shouts "NO", not missing a step as she heads into the castle. The maid just stands there, bewildered.

Shalana gets to her room and slams the door shut in a huff. She looks left to right as she scowls deeply, and then she heads right for the window of her room. Opening it, she steps up onto the windowsill. She then pushes herself off and twists, grabbing the top of the windowpane itself. Her body swings for a moment, but she is then able to pull herself up. There is a small ledge above her window, one that she discovered when she was a child. It's nice and out of the way, and barely noticeable from all angles unless you're really looking for it. She crouches on the ledge and flips open a trunk that she has stashed there. She mutters something about never being appreciated and how she is just seen as some kind of gem to be appreciated but not taken seriously… angry princessy thoughts. She slips out of her gown and tosses it aside, not caring if it gets dirty. She quickly slips the cloak on she pulls from the trunk, over the light leather armor she now wears. She grasps the bow and quiver of arrows from the trunk and… and then hesitates as she looks into the trunk. With a soft sigh she reaches in and pulls out a small seer orb, and brushes her hand over the surface. "Magda" she says softly, almost in whisper. "I can't go into it now… just listen. I'm leaving the castle, I may not come back." She's said that about half a dozen times in the past 5 years. "I'm going to Fort Indulai to help the Strangers. I just needed to tell you. Don't. Tell. Any. One. Else." She points a finger at the orb to harden her point. "I'll contact you soon." She now reaches back and slips the small orb into one of the pouches affixed to her lower back under her cloak… and she is off. She leaps along the rooftop leading away from her window, going to the hidden exit she often uses when going out as Edea…

Grimm crossed his arms grumpily as he stood by Genessa, giving her a single grunt in response to her praise. The rest of the gathering was more of the same, the royals making grand speeches and orders being given out. Grimm had no qualms being subordinate to Burton and Benjie, Burton had already earned Grimm's trust and Benjie seemed to be a stalwart little fellow. Watching the princess leave, Grimm scratched his beard curiously. The girl seemed familiar but Grimm knew he had not met her before. Chalking it up to resembling someone he met in the past, Grimm rolled his eyes as the king proclaimed them liberators. Grimm sighed in resignation, who knew this new world would already prove to be so tiring?

During the stop at Doreen, Grimm had found one of the local hunters and asked about preserving his trophy. Luckily the owner of the tavern he had gone to with the strange girl offered to hold on to the trophy until Grimm had a place for it. Deciding to trust the owner, Grimm handed over the severed head along with some veiled threats if he returned to find out he was swindled. During the journey to the fort, Grimm had mostly kept to himself. One eye on Genessa and one eye on their surroundings. Call him paranoid if you will, but Grimm knew all to well the dangers of becoming complacent.

Once at the fort, the malodorous Grimm was practically forced to wash himself by several of the guards. Once relatively clean by most people's standards, Grimm made himself at home in his little room. For Grimm an actual bed was quite the treat, the hunter expecting to be forced to sleep on the cold floor somewhere. Besides a small table holding his gear, Grimm kept his room almost completely bare.

Upon entering the war room, everyone might be surprised by the sight of Grimm wearing normal clothes. After somewhat begrudgingly leaving his armor in his room, Grimm had donned a simple white shirt and coarse brown pants. The hairy hunter made his way over to Genessa and stood behind her, running a hand through his somewhat messy black hair. "So we are hunting men now intead of beasts? I admit, I prefer beasts but I am no stranger to hunting men. They take longer to catch, but often they die much quicker than any wild beasts."

Benjie smiled when Anne offered to teach him some shanty songs. "It would be my pleasure Anne. In exchange I'll teach you some songs from my time." Soon after King Richard addressed them, giving instructions and confirmation of support in the form of weapons, supplies and personal. In the back corner of his mind, Ben hoped the Royal was speaking the truth, considering the odds facing them.

Upon being named as Liberators, the resistance fighter paused. The meaning behind the title held a great significance to him, remembering the last days of the war when his homeland was being freed from invaders. Slowly he nodded and whispered in his native tongue. "Tayo ay nabubuhay doon."

————————————————

The subsequent ride to Fort Indulai gave Benjie plenty of time to check his new gear and weapons. Not to mention get know Harry and Dean some more. Their conversations especially the latter's informed some of the future. Like how the war ended. Or America and Russia being at each other's throats, faster cars and planes along with small screens to play entertainment like a mini theater.

Even landing on the moon of all things.

The last two sounded especially interesting to Ben. It gave the Filipino a lot to think about for the three days. Later when they arrived at the fort Benjie had made sure to get to be familiar with the small garrison and it's staff. It was important to do so since he and Burton were put in charge of the mission. Of course when not doing so he spent a lot of time resting, playing music and writing in his journal back in the private quarters. Sleeping on a bed for a change was very much welcomed for someone who spent three years mostly in the wilderness and on the run.

Still sometimes anyone passing by his door at night would hear him tossing and turning and the faint sound of weeping.
————————————————

Inside the war room Benjie Defilno wore a new set of clothes as part of adapting to this world. It would've been amusing if I got something similar to that outfit Errol Flynn wore in the Robin Hood film. All the same this is more practical. In addition Ben was able to add a second and more longer bolo knife with a crossbow and two flintlock pistols now part of his arsenal.

Crossing both arms across his chest Benjie stood in the center of the table. Examining the map in front of his eyes, the sergeant quietly listened to the others speak. When they were done, he looked up and replied.

"Hitler's forces couldn't have carried out these previous attacks without local support. The number of native followers with them is very telling. Some of the likely suspects would be from the military families who resent the Brother Kings for ending their war years ago. Of course they're not the only ones."

Silent for a moment he added. "Like the Parohness sects. Their obsession with Strangers can leave a lot of room for them to be manipulated by the likes of Hitler. We should consider investigating those connections as well."

Sir Richard Francis Burton

Burton listens carefully to King Richard's plans for them, quickly realizing these have been in place for longer than His groups arrival in the city. Further evidenced by the Council meeting he had been part of. Searching among the gear provided by King Richard, he finds a new Damascus blade that appears to have been made for a 19th century Russian noble, and a gun cleaning kit. Supplies for his portable desk are obtained. He still has his new crossbow and a quiver of bolts.

The trip is made with his usual companions. Throughout the two to three days of travel, Burton is chatting with the others about their area of expertise. Tactics with Leonidas, hunting with Grim, local politics with Genesa. He often runs and exercises in other ways to build up his stamina. He clearly is not the same man who was on earth in his deathbed. While doing all these things he is thinking about his task to come, the undoing of Hitler & his allies. He also tries to get in some sword practice with Genessa.

He is a tall fellow for his time, around 6 ft tall and building himself back into good shape. Probably driving his companions to distraction with his constant activity. In Doren, he helps the others with any purchases or packing of additional gear.

Once at their new location, the Fort, He works with all of his companions to make marks on the map where Hitler's people made attacks. He is still exercising, and practicing with his weapons. He makes constant notes with the paper and ink in his portable desk. In his small room, it seems to be common for him to be working late into the night. He makes a lot of time for Benji during the day. Also to get to know the young Japanese warrior woman and the earthy pirate Anne. When word is given to report to the war room, he does so with his portable writing desk.

Harry

Harry has to hurry to prepare to leave. He has very little gear with he came to this place. He gives the Queen his burial tuxedo. He is quickly given something that actually takes very little alteration to fit him.

medieval-men-costume-kit.jpg

His is given something like a short sword that he'll have to learn how to use, and a dagger, new boots. Among the gear his picks up from prior strangers is a cut off double barrel shotgun with exactly one shot for each barrel. It comes with a holster arrangement. That being said, at the moment he is afraid to fire it, worried he'll do more damage to his own side, than the enemy. He finds a set of what might be commonly known as... lock picks or thieves tools.

During the long two day trip he Benjie and Dean spend a considerable time discussing home. Each night he writes a letter to Bess about his day, burning it in the morning fire the next morning. Like Burton, he spends a considerable time exercising. For Harry though, he has constantly through his life spent considerable effort to keep in shape. Upon arriving at the Fort, he settles in fairly easily. He goes around and meets everyone at the Fort. Harry is very skilled with the social arts and wants to make an effort to know everyone. In some way, he feels he might get to know his new surroundings that way. When called to the meeting, he goes, standing near Benjie, but saying nothing for now.

"In a manner, yes we are hunting men." Genessa answers Grimm. "Though if we say we need one alive, wound them only if possible." She clarifies to him respectfully.

"That is if they give you a choice." Leonidas decides to put himself into the conversation momentarily. "This is war. We kill or be killed, no matter the orders."

"Maybe so." Genessa says in response to him. She reaches into a pocket of her gown and withdraws the silver flask containing her medicine, looks to be opening it up, but stops and puts it back in the pocket.

"About those lieutenants." Dean moves to a clear part of the map and starts writing in charcoal. "Still kinda fuzzy on who is who and what they do in his operation from memory. You might think I was his right hand man, but mostly I recall a lot of orders to get things from someone, or give them to someone from him. I was his mailman and occasional….assassin."

"Firstly, is this big fella he tends to have with him. Panzram. Real bruiser, not a big talker." Dean writes the name down. "Then there's this Japanese officer, Hisashi or something. Looks like a weasel, but he's the one Hitler would have at the table with the map, moving stuff around, planning."

"Then that would be the one we need to capture alive, if he was a true planner." Genessa suggests.

"Yeah, he'd be the one. If you could make him talk." Dean concurs with her.

"Ya hear that Benny, Yuzuki?" Anne asks look around at them both. "Yer personal affairs with this one will have to wait until we can make him squeal."

"And you are right, Benjie." Dean taps the cities marked on the map. "I've been to all these places before in better times. The fuzzy memories are coming around and talking to local people in dark places."

"The Parohness will be hard to find, so far as a central hub." Genessa speaks up and stands up to go to the map. "They are connected only by their beliefs and meet everywhere anyone else may meet to discuss."

"I gots an idea." Anne raises her hand, the one with a now empty bottle. "One of us goes to these Paro...Paron...these people, and make 'em lead us to Hitler if they be in league with him if it's Strangers they worship." Anne snaps her fingers. Fergus flies over from the window to sit on top of Anne's hat. "Easy."

"I don't know about that, but let me keep going a little longer." Dean snaps his own fingers to get everyone's attention. "Now there's another one he keeps close. This one worries me more than the rest, because...."Dean sighs and shakes his head. "She's dangerous, but she's also...well she's Joan of Arc." He looks around at Burton and Houdini in particular, the one most likely to know the name. "The girl had a horrible end, so I guess it's no surprise how Hitler could twist her to his side after I collected her for him. I say dangerous because I can remember her making someone explode into flames with just a look."

"You seem very reverent of this...girl." Genessa states her observation. "Why is this? Who was she in your world?"

"The short and skinny of it, is she was a teenage girl who believed so much in the power of her faith in God, that she led armies to victory for her people on its strength. But when the enemy of her people captured her, they declared her evil and burned her at the stake." Dean explains to Genessa rather simply.

"Oh my." Genessa puts her hand to her mouth. "That's terrible."

"Dishonorable." Leonidas adds grimacing with disgust. "For her to be allowed on the battlefield at all, if she was so young."

"Who was it that burned her?" Anne asks. Fergus sits in her hat cleaning his feathers.

"The English." Dean tells her.

"It would be the English who'd do that to a young girl." Anne matches Leonidas' grimace.

YuzukiB.jpg
Yuzuki stands silently as she now listens to Dean speak of Hitler's men. And speak of himself as an assassin. She imagines he would be quite good for such a thing. Panzram… what an odd name. She commits the name to memory, hoping she has a chance to meet him. But when Dean speaks of the Japanese officer… now the whole of her attention is on him. "Hizashi" Yuzuki utters softly, her eyes watching now the floor in front of her feet.

Anne tells them they need Hizashi alive… and it's then Yuzuki speaks up. "Hizashi's life is mine." Now she looks up, looking directly towards Anne. "Honor demands it so. He will fall to my blade. I will allow you to ask your questions before this happens. But do not doubt, the rest of his mortal days belong to me."

Her attention is diverted to Genessa as she approaches the map. She stares at the map as she thinks… and then she looks around herself slowly towards the group. She wonders how many of the Strangers in this room Hitler knows about… she wonders if any of them could perhaps infiltrate the Parohness to get to Hitler. Hizashi… if he had half a brain… would have related Yuzuki's existence to Hitler, and so she couldn't do it. She looks towards Leonidas… and she wonders to herself if he could be capable of such a thing.

But she comes out of thought in time for Dean to begin speaking of Joan. Her eyes narrow a little as she confirms his words. "I think that's what hit me… in Jim's camp. I saw a woman with… an unearthly gaze looking at me… and then an explosion… perhaps that was her." If that's true, then Yuzuki has another score to settle. Yuzuki now steps forward towards the map, her hands once more folding into the sleeves of her silken kimono. "I was a child when first I went into battle." She says softly in response (mostly) to Leonidas. She stops before the map, her eyes scanning it. "Would we.. want a person.. or smaller group.. to begin attacking Hitler's camps? Or are these camps to far apart or hidden for that?" She looks towards Anne… and then Benjie as she continues. "Perhaps as distraction?" Her eyes move to Genessa "Does this thought have any merit?"

Grimm simply stands in the back and observes while the planning takes place. He had never been a leader type, more of a loner than anything else. The possibility of a hunt made him a little excited. Lately it seemed all they were doing is talking, Grimm was a man of action and never really cared for long discussions. Maybe after the meeting they would let him go hunt some game nearby? Everyone likes fresh meat.

Coming back from his reverie, Grimm catches the tidbit about Joan of Arc. While he would unfortunately agree with Leonidas this time, Grimm never felt the need to impress his ideals on others. Back home there were several girls who could handle themselves just fine. The concerning part was about the English. Grimm had never heard of the English before meeting Burton, but upon hearing of their sadistic execution of the girl Grimm could not help but glance over at Burton. Was Burton a willing participant in the whole debacle? He carried himself like an explorer but when they first met it was easy to see his well groomed mannerisms. Sighing to himself Grimm steeled his resolve. Burton may be his friend for now, but just to be safe Grimm will be a little more wary around the bearded Englishman.

The sergeant stood mostly still while he shifted his glance at each person who spoke. They were brought together and were all talented in their respected fields and a number were skilled in some form of fighting style. Yet the fact is the Liberators was relatively untested when it comes to being a unit. Inwardly Ben had concerns about that fact. Sure there was common cause for most of them to fight Hitler but they were so wholly different from one another.

To be fair it wasn't too long ago I fought alongside a rag tag band of people. All the same we have our work cut out for us. Thought Benjie, as Dean revealed what he remembered so far. The name Panzram didn't ring a bell though the sergeant took a good guess the man must be dangerous and likely with a special ability. Subsequently the conversation turned toward the Japanese officer now named Hizashi for all to know.

Upon that reference Benjie found himself gripping one of his bolo blades. So the scum is Hitler's personal staff officer. The Filipino forced himself to let go the hilt when Anne addressed both Yuzuki and him about keeping Hizashi alive long enough for questioning. Like before Samurai proclaimed her intentions to kill her descendant but agreed to the condition. Of course Ben did not a utter about it but his intend was the same from the eyes alone.

Shaking his head Benjie finally replied.

"Easier said than done. Back on Earth in my time soldiers of the Japanese Empire like him were taught early on to view surrender as the ultimate disgrace. Most would rather kill themselves than live with such shame and anyone unlucky enough to be their captive are viewed with sheer contempt and often treated brutally for having surrendered."

Pausing for a moment and closing his eyes Benjie lowered his hooded head. He was now living in a new world, but the scars of the former one marked him all the same. Quickly it passed for the time being and Benjie added with a weary sigh. "Your best bet is to knock him out if you find him. Also make sure he is completely restrained for your interrogation. Though personally I believe you've have better luck finding information in his uniform than getting that arrogant officer to confess anything useful."

Choosing to be silent again Ben listened to Anne's idea to infiltrate Parohness to lead them to their target. To say it is a highly dangerous undertaking would be an understatement but necessary one in his opinion. Just as the sergeant was considering who could possibly carry that task out when Dean dropped a bombshell. Joan of Arc joined with Hitler! Despite living away from Europe in the Far East, Benjie knew the name of the French heroine and heard and read some stories about her.

Sorrow etched in his features as Dean further explained how the patron saint of France has become twisted into something like her enemies accused her of. Immediately Ben threw off the hood. Lifting his right hand to his forehead, Ben then placed it to the middle of the chest, followed by the left shoulder and finally the right shoulder. As he made the sign of the cross that those with a Catholic upbringing known to Benjie whispered a quiet prayer to himself. Old habits die hard for a former choir boy.

Upon Yuzuki's questions, the resistance fighter scratched his chin in thought. Finally, he answered.

"Far as I can tell these camps are well concealed. We have to find them first and scout out the situation before making a tactical decision on how to attack."

Burton

Burton is listening to the discussion when the subject of Joan is brought up.

"There is more to it than that regarding Joan, also known as the Maid of Orleans. You should know that the forces of the Dauphin were reduced to one stronghold when she came to him. She was sixteen, a farm girl from the east of France. The Dauphin's own mother proclaimed him unfit to rule. An English king had won the war a decade earlier and had made peace with the Dauphin's father. But both kings died several years before Joan came to the Prince. Joan rarely fought, she was an inspiration to her troops. She carried the banner of her forces, usually at the very front. "

"After two years of war with her participation, she had turned the tide. She was captured at a battle with Northern French forces loyal to the Duke of Burgundy, long allied to the English, as were many in Northern France. The held her several months negotiating for a ransom from the English, who did eventually pay. A court was arranged with English and French clergy. Bought and paid for. She was convicted of Heresy. A religious crime...
Bought and paid for by the English nobles in the high command. The King at the time was only 9 and had little hand in the affair. The Dauphin did not make any attempt to save Joan. She was at first at public trial, but she made better argument in her defense than they could at trying her. The trial was made private after that. "

" Many in the English camp made complaint at her treatment. They were removed or punished. In the end, there were few who didn't have some part to play in her death. The Burgundian French, who sold her for their 30 pieces of Silver, The Dauphin who refused any effort to save her, the English who organized, bought and paid for the Clergy to convict her, and the Church men who condemned her. It was a truly damned affair. 450 years before my time mind you and the people of my birth country are still living it down. The whole thing backfired you know. She became a martyr, further inspiring her people until they won the day. Some 25 years after her burning at the stake, the Dauphin, or King of France by then, had the charges reversed much to his credit. She was honored by France by her people then, and the Church. "

" I spent my childhood between England, France and Italy. I rarely considered myself much of a patriot to any national cause. Mostly I fought against the stodgy culture of the English in my time. That being said, Most of the men of my time, be they English, French or Italian would not descend to any such punishment like burning at the stake. There was in my time a rule about how to treat women. For myself, I assure you I would cheerfully murder any of the people responsible for trying to burn any woman at the stake."

"In my life I studied every religion I came across and found none without merit and none that was any better than the others. Many a murder, and other heinous crimes have been done in the name of God across the centuries. As much or more than in the name of any noble or King. "

He stops there, looking thoughtful and a little sad.

" We came across Joan outside of Doren a number of days back, Genessa and myself. She was just arrived I think. Had already murdered a couple and burned their merchant cart to ash. We were trying to calm her down, with some success I think when Mister Dean ran by and snatched her up. When and if she is allowed to recover from the madness of being burned at the stake and landing in this place, I think she could be turned from Hitler's cause if we could get the chance to convince her. She was a good soul from everything I read. "

He stops again for a bit. When the conversation turns back to Hitler and Hizashi ...

" I think we'd be better served with scouting parties to find our enemies then by trying to convince the Parohs that we are seeking any kind of accord with Hitler. That path will if you aren't careful lead whoever is taking it right to Hitler and his mind bending magic. We have between us several spots where enemy forces struck. Near Doren when Leonidas appeared, Anne's village, the King's town where you caught Dean. Match these with some of Dean's shattered memories and we can at least come up with areas to search. As for Hizashi , I happen to agree with Benji. Men who consider themselves of high honor, no matter how mistaken they might be, are hardest to turn."

Again he stops, his mood soured but the subjects he touched upon.

Harry

Harry doesn't say much during the meeting. When Joan of Arc is brought up, he again listens to Burton's long winded speech. He wasn't the student of history that Burton was. He was familiar of course, but it was a foreign thing to him, long past. Further, it also involved a religion that over the centuries inspired their followers any number of horrible deeds to his own Jewish people. This was not the place or time to bring that up.

When Anne's plan to infiltrate the Parohness came up, he finally spoke up.

"I think I might be a good choice to maybe infiltrate the Parohness, Hitler's mind magic might not work on me in the end.. Though knives or bullets could be a bit inconvenient ! ( he smiles here ).

As for Hizashi, I am not a mind reader, but I can assure you I have a pretty good feel for that mind magic now. I think with a little time I could unravel it on any body. Now, for them to turn... They would still have to be willing to help us. As for Joan, perhaps I could be of some assistance there if she is under the influence. "

"Jim." Dean says quietly to himself and closes his eyes as a memory comes to him at the name. He has a very rocky stroll down memory lane while the others talk, fading in and out of the conversations.

"Would we.. want a person.. or smaller group.. to begin attacking Hitler's camps? Or are these camps to far apart or hidden for that?" She looks towards Anne… and then Benjie as she continues. "Perhaps as distraction?" Her eyes move to Genessa "Does this thought have any merit?"

"Yes, I think that has some merit Lady Date." Genessa agrees with the Samurai. Leonidas hears in Yuzuki's voice that his comment had not been received well. Normally he would not care to offend anyone, much less a non-Spartan woman. Normally.

Easier said than done.

"Your best bet is to knock the bastard out if you find him. Also make sure he is completely restrained for your interrogation. Though personally I believe you've have better luck finding information in his uniform than getting that arrogant asshole to confess anything useful."

James Dean comes back into the conversation at Benji's comments. "Yeah yeah I remember in the war, the Japs would fight to the last man. What was it...Iwo Jima? Yeah Iwo jima, only like a couple hundred of 'em were captured of the ten thousand that had dug in. Least thats what I know from the newsreels and such."

When Burton speaks up in defense of himself, James Dean gives him one clap.

"Well said, friend, well said. Now I'm sure nobody here meant you any ill, am I right?" He asks of the room, particularly looking at Anne.

"Aye, meant no offense to ya Richie." Anne admits looking at Burton smiling, red in the cheeks.

"Ahem." Genessa clears her throat to get everyone back on track. "From what I have gathered, I think I see a pattern." Genessa holds out her hand to James Dean, who gives her the bit of charcoal he had been using to draw on the map.

"We have that odd violent business at Doren, both near and a ways from it which brought Burton, Grimm, Joan, that other woman who ran off to parts unknown, and Leonidas...then over here in the Barbin Forests where Anne's group encountered two attacks as well." She draws a line from Doren to the Barbin Forests "Then, York." She draws a line to York then another back to Doren to make a rough triangle and taps the mountain ranges to the North and South. "Here. These mountains and the forests around them, perfect cover for several camps, maybe the main base."

"Agreed." Leonidas says knocking the table once. "Weapons and some ways may change with time, but mountains are a strong foundation to build on at all times."

"Imma have to agree." Anne shrugs "Bein' my battles been on ship decks mostly, not much to offer fer land battles."

"Mr. Burton, Sergeant Delfino." Genessa says looking at the two. "I know my position is not necessarily of this kind, but I will have to recommend we not seperate for alternate missions, viable as they may seem. Mr. Houdini in particular is too valuable, as he may be the only one able to render null Hitler's largest advantage of magic should he be encountered. But that is just my humble suggestion."

"And a reminder." Anne raises her hand "Albert. Yuzuki and I would like words with him before anyone else."

"And how will we know this Albert?" Genessa asks.

"Oh aye, you'll know him when you meet him. Skinny young man, boyish good looks, dark hair. Knew some magic." Anne explains.

"And he was the one who turned to Hitler's side?" Genessa asks further.

"Aye." Anne affirms. "He say somethin' we don' like, we'll handle him. He was our whelp first."

"Another thing, that just came to me, another one you might have to watch out for." James Dean writes another name with the others. "Jim Morrison. I just recalled, that before he sent me to York for the attack, he was sending Hizashi and Joan after him."

"Oh no." Genessa actually looks worried now. "James Morrison? We were investigating him, after hearing rumors of him gathering followers, Parohness, to him as The Lizard King. I sent Charlan to follow the trail of rumors, and haven't heard a report from him since..when Lady Date said 'Jim's camp' I didn't think it was him. His power is very dangerous."

"He had a power?" Anne asks while keeping herself from mentioning impulsively she knew of Charlan.

"Yes. He could induce powerful hallucinations in others. Range and severity untested."

"Ah. So that's why he told Albert he'd be a raving maniac if Jim had wanted." Anne muses "Guess we were both lucky he was very friendly to us otherwise, eh Zuki?" She says to the woman with a wink. "Aaanyways. According to his First Mate Horse, he was caught and taken away the day before we got to York."

YuzukiB.jpg
Yuzuki would smile a little with Benjie's words, about how difficult it was to catch the Japanese enemy alive. She speaks in a light tone, barely looking towards Benjie. "I am rather pleased to know this. As much in my world as your world… to be captured is an act of disgrace, and cowardice. And your enemy would not prolong your capture if it could be helped." She glances around now, her head tilting up, her tone a proud one. "I did the same for the Wallace person, when he was my captive. We got what we would need from him, and then I helped him achieve death." Then back to Benjie she slowly looks as she continues. "It will be the same with this Hizashi. He is my clan's descendant… but in name only. To serve such a foul being as Hitler, to conspire with a foreigner against your own people… death will be to good an end for him. You need not worry on this, Sergeant Delfino. We will get what is needed from him. He shall know the humiliation of being my prisoner, and then I will bring him death." She nods once more, now a small thoughtful frown on her lips.

It was then Burton's turn.. and he tells them of Joan… of the Maid of Orleans. He uses… many… terms she is unfamiliar with. To the point he's making her, inadvertently, feel dumb. But she thinks she gets the jist of things. She looks down a little as she thinks… and then she thinks out loud, speaking in almost a whisper to herself. "To be prisoner for so long.. I can not imagine. And then to be executed in such a barbaric manner." She feels a shiver run up her spine just thinking about it. When all is said and done.. Yuzuki thinks Joan has every right to her madness.

But unfortunately… they can not allow it to continue. Especially since she is in league with Hitler.

The group now focuses upon the map, and Yuzuki now moves to the table edge to get a good look at it. Her thin brows furrow as she studies the map, as she commits as much of it as she can to memory. Her eyes follow the charcoal as the connecting lines are made, and she nods a little impressed. "Please, pardon my ignorance" She says softly, looking in the direction of Genessa and James "I have not yet been in this area" she lays a finger lightly at the base of the mountains on the map "But I know of the Barbin… are there any in this region we could perhaps count as allies?"

But when Anne raises her hand, Yuzuki pays attention. Especially when she mentions Albert. If you're looking closely, you would see a pained expression upon the young Japanese woman's features. But she does her best to quickly dismiss that. She speaks in a low tone, her eyes cast down. "I said I would keep him safe… I swore that I would." She shakes her head, wanting to get that line of thought out of it.

Yuzuki hears Anne say her name… well the last part of her name for some reason… and now her eyes widen as she looks towards Anne. She feels her cheeks redden with embarrassment with Anne's insinuation… even if that isn't what she meant. "Captain… do not say… such things.. in public…" she feels her cheeks redden a little more, forcing her eyes away from everyone else.

Leaning against the wall near the back, Grimm's mood was slowly beginning to sour as everyone talked. Most of it flew over his head, talking about different customs, religions, and other things. It was a slight relief to hear that Burton did not have any involvement with the burning of the Arc girl. However Grimm could only roll his eyes knowingly as Burton explained the bribery and corruption leading up to Joan's death. Eventually the topic at hand changed to something interesting, what to do to end Hitler's reign of terror. At first it seemed pretty straightforward, find the planner, capture him, kill Hitler. But then the plan began to get more complex, with talks about infiltration, spying, and other underhanded tactics being brought to the front. Grimm was tempted to simply leave and go for a walk, but he promised that he would be by Genessa's side. Gritting his teeth, the hairy hunter occupied himself by biting his fingernails and spitting out the bits like sunflower seeds.

There was mention of a mountain and for a moment Grimm hoped that he would finally have something to do. Grimm had spent plenty of time climbing mountains in his previous life and he was confident that nobody else in the room could rival his expertise. The subject of Albert was brought up and Grimm simply began to zone out. Who cares about some traitor? Well it seemed the short swords-woman and the loud captain used to be his travelling companions so there was that. Sighing loudly, Grimm began to examine the ceiling and started counting how many cracks there were. At the rate things were going Grimm felt like his beard would turn grey before they actually did anything. Hell even that annoying hooded girl from before would be a welcome distraction. At least she seemed more interesting than the talking that was going on.

Ben raised an eyebrow at Burton when the English gentleman told the tale of Joan of Arc to the rest and his opinion about it and among other things. Personally I would've avoided the long story, though. He thought but shrugged his shoulders, but what done is done. Next Harry volunteered to infiltrate the Parohoness. The escape artist's willingness was admirable, but it was too risky.

Sure sometimes it would be necessary. All the same they still didn't know the full extent of Hilter's powers yet to warrant such a task but there was always another matter...

That line of thought was interrupted when the others like Dean, Leonadis, Gennesa and Anne added their shares of the discussion. He watched with silent approval as the Red Shield operative used the evidence from the attacks to mark out a general location for the enemy. Nodding at the Spartan King's comment about utilizing the mountains Ben noted.

"I would've used a similar place in their position."

Agreeing with Genessa's advice Benjie turned toward Harry clasping one of the shoulders. "That is a brave gesture Houndi but we can't afford to risk you in such a matter. We've find another way."

Sergeant Delfino was silent, letting once more as the number of the Liberators spoke on and their local ally. At the mention of Albert, he tensed still said nothing. Subsequently the conversation turned toward someone called Jim Morrison the reference to his skill with hallucinations made Ben wary. That is a dangerous power to have indeed.

Then as if on cue the samurai took her turn, being proud of her successors.

Ben scowled in contempt and his anger grew when she said to be captured was shameful and cowardly. Only her following words stopped the guerrilla from lashing out right then and there. Yuzuki never ceases in surprising him acting high and mighty one second then polite and considerate in the next. The confusion finally caused him to snap a minute later, throwing a fist down unto the map with his left hand Ben turned to the warrior women.

"You look down at prisoners of war as cowards and yet don't want to prolong their suffering. Why would you or any other Japanese care them?!"

His voice filled with venom Benjie continued with clenched teeth.

"I am not surprised at all that your descendant is with Hitler. During the war the rulers of Japan allied with him while carrying out their own dreams of conquest, invading many neighboring lands including mine! The soldiers of your empire humiliated, tortured and slaughtered countless people. Sparing neither men, women or even children."

A moment later Ben paused realizing he was losing his self control. Ben bowed his head before silently nodding to Burton to carry on for the time being while he go compose himself outside. Still angered resistance fighter stormed out of the room slamming the door behind him.

Harry listened to the others, agreeing with most that he heard. The one mention of tactics he particularly agreed with. Then it came to Ben and his trouble with the Empire of Japan. Harry stood up and moved forward.

" I'd like to say something further. Each of us has our own set of troubles in our hearts and minds. I think we're going to have our hands full dealing with this. Hitler has many resources now. I believe he's been here a while, longer than we suspect. Now, that being said. I will speak a word for my friend Benjie. We had three days of talk, he, mister Dean and myself. He was in a horrible war with the Empire of Japan. His feelings are real, and there are times he is in agony with the memory of it. "

" We are all though, only responsible for our own actions. Burton did not personally have anything to do with other English people doing bad things. Suzuki, cannot be held responsible for the horrible, dishonorable crap that Japanese people three hundred years after her did. This can be said for all of us. If we cannot manage to treat each other as much as we can like family or at least friends, I feel our mission may be doomed."

"Lastly, there seem to be a few among the enemy that some of us would like to give special dispensation to. Forgive me, but if any of them threaten my life, or the lives of people I care for, I will do my utmost to end them. Period. We, our group here... come first in this argument".

With all of this said, he seems sad and tired now. Once again, he misses his life, his beloved Bess as he sits down with a huff.

Sir Richard Francis Burton.

Burton sits still considering and listening. He thinks again on his idea of a scouting mission, now stretching the idea to include all of them since they are relatively few. For now he doesn't make significant more comment on who has to be saved so certain people can deal with them. He is mostly thinking to himself now, half listening to the others. Whispering to Genessa to get the location of Morrison's camp. For now he puts dates by all the locations. By the location of Leonidas appearance, he'll not the lack of presence of a significant enemy strangers. Where he investigated, and a few others appeared just outside of Doren, he notes the appearance of Joan and the subsequent appearance of Dean, but with no soldiers. At York, and at Morrison's camp, heavy presence both in soldiers and strangers. and a second Dean appearance with some minor bomb setting allies. At the Barbin fishing village, he notes the appearance, however brief of Wallace, who Burton considers a significant Stranger. he brings Leonidas and Grimm to the map, where he and Genessa already are.
He doesn't restrict anyone else from the map though.

"Take a look here folks, The first attacks are heaviest in the south then approaching and appearing in York. Hitler himself appears here in York and all of his major strangers appear in Morrison's camp here. Four appearances we can call attacks, against the small angry men near Doren, but no strangers, Morrison's party, to recruit and show strength. York to attack his main enemies I think, to show strength and recruit all in one. And, Wallace, against the Barbin. Wallace and the attack on the small men are the furthest out from center. I am fairly certain he was near York and probably south or east. I would propose we search for the most likely place they have been and track them with Grimm's skill to where they went thereafter. ?"

He looks around to see other people's thoughts. After they've had a chance to speak...

" I'd personally like at least a day or two to train a bit, pack for our journey, but I'm open to suggestions. "
