  • United Parliament of Eden.png

This is a physical representation of our parliament. Our parliament consists of 1000 seats, and together the parliament creates bills and votes on said bills. Various political factions within the Parliament exist and you as roleplayers would create bills and vote on them together. We'll be doing these via OOC and their outcome will be detailed in Situation Reports. With Bills you can dictate where you would like to take the empire and what it does next until a new bill is passed that's specifications would change a previously passed bills.

You'll notice on the Character Sheets section that there is a Political Standing section, that's where you would tell us which political faction you would be representing in RP. Of course there is also a Political Party sheet that you'd create to actually create that political party as a whole.

On Presidency, every 10 years a new president will be elected, of which you as players can choose to run as or support a candidate that is currently running. A post will be created after this OP for CURRENT UNCLAIMED CHARACTERS/SPOTS and CURRENT RUNNING PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES. You can also designate yourself as the Head Representative of your Political Party if there's not one there already (first come first serve). If you do, during presidential elections, you can create an Ad, Interview, etc (of which you will DM to me) detailing your stance on the current election, who your party is voting for, etc. I'll then include said Ad's, Interviews, etc in a new Situation Report in the IC that everyone can see.

The newly elected president has the ability to Veto bills and can call Political, Economic, Scientific and Militaric control during their ruling should a situation calls for it, but as a representative democracy this would lead to a lot of negative views on the president themselves. As such it should only be done in terse and important situations that call for it.

When not called for then the Parliament decides Economic, Scientific and Militaric decisions (unless a bill is passed that passes on that duty to some other group).

A person who is the Head Representative of their Political Party gets 50 of the votes from that party under their control, regular members of that political party get 20 votes each.

Spectators who also wish to vote, have 10 Votes each. These 10 votes are taken from a pool of available votes and once the pool is deplenished for that bill/election then spectators can no longer vote. This pool is cobbled together from the still available votes from political factions.

So for instance if a political faction has 200 votes in total, the head representative takes 50 of those votes for themself, that leaves 150 left, then there are 3 party members in it, taking 60 votes for themselves. That leaves 90 votes left that Spectators can use from that political party. Each spectator can only vote once on each bill/election.

Sheets
Please keep in mind that this is a very fast paced game and that anything can happen, so characters can suddenly die and time passes pretty quickly.

You are not required to join or be part of a political party. If you aren't part of one, feel free to put Independent in the Political Standing and Political Position section.

The list of Available Spots is listed in the post after this one.

    Party Name:
Party Ethics: (Check the Ethics List tab to see what Ethics there are. You can pick up to 3, make sure they aren't conflicting (like Industrialist and Ecologist, or Materialist and Spritiualist)
Party Beliefs: (What does this political party believe is needed? Do they believe all Xeno's should be under our rule? Do they believe profit is found everywhere? Etc)
Party End Goal: (In the end what does this party want to achieve? A friendly relation with all species? Total control over the entire galaxy? Economic Stability? A utopia for all?)

  • Libertarian - Any society that does not embrace true liberty of its members - where an individual can rise to any position with enough hard work - is not only deeply unfair, but ultimately counterproductive.

Militarist - The only true virtues are courage and discipline, and channeled properly they can overcome any obstacle. Therein lies true strength; force withheld, a promise made.

Xenophobe - The stakes could not be higher as we reach into the vast uncharted expanses of the galaxy, for we are gambling with the very survival of our species! Never trust the alien; it's false smile hides an unknowable mind...

Individualist - The core mechanism of expansion is a process of accumulation: one in which our profits reaped from the sale of goods and services can be reinvested into the furthering of our own prosperity. It would be unwise to forget the merits of such a system, especially with the unparalleled new opportunities afforded us by our galactic expansion.

Elitist - Everybody isn't fit for any role in the great scheme of things. Skills, responsibilities, strengths of characters, qualities aren't equality distributed, and while some are better to lead and rule, others are better when lead and ruled over; everyone benefits from this.

Materialist - As we reach for the stars, we must put away childish things; gods, spirits and other phantasms of the brain. Reality is cruel and unforgiving, yet we must steel ourselves and secure the survival of our race through the unflinching pursuit of science and technology.

Industrialist - Rapid and efficient infrastructure development is a fundamental necessity in any civilized society. Special attention must be paid to our workers in order to ensure future economic prosperity. Whatever cost we incur is a small price for the future we assure ourselves.

Authoritarian - A strong, guiding hand is essential to the success of any civilization - the alternative would be anarchy and chaos. It is the duty of the state to steer its citizens towards the paths that are the most productive.

Pacifist - Conflict as a means to an end is a ridiculous concept. It is by nature destructive, destroying what was to be obtained or giving room to grow that which was to be destroyed.

Xenophile - There exists, in all of us, a deep-seated fascination for the unknown. An adventurous spirit that rejects the familiar and glories in the unfamiliar, whatever - or whomever - it may be.

Collectivist - Society works best when none are left behind, and this is best achieved by a societal control of the means of production, and fair redistribution of wealth.

Egalitarian - We should value people regardless of their personal achievements, whether it be patrimonial matters, intellectual superiority, or wealth. Nobody is considered more honorable just because he is more successful, one way or the other.

Spiritualist - There are those who think it behooves us to remember how tiny we are, how pointless our lives are in this vast uncaring universe... What Nonsense! The only truth we can ever know is that of our own existence. The universe - in all its apparent glory - is but a dream we all happen to share.

Ecologist - The true values of a planet lie in its natural resources: its atmosphere, its flora and fauna, and its landscape. Our success so far lies in our ability to preserve and maintain these assets, whilst at the same time benefiting economically and societally from them. These biological systems are the sustaining wealth of any civilization, and we would do well to remember that.

    Rites of the Sun
    Party Ethics

    Spiritualist, Militarist, Authoritarian

    Party Beliefs
The Rites of the Sun believes the world is already dead and that humanity is in the afterlife. They think that the conquest of the universe is humanity’s birthright. Among the gifts of their god that they believe to be from him is FTL Travel is a gift from God. They believe that the Red Dwarf is the embodiment of their prophet.

More politically, however, they what a strong government, guided by the moral values of the Rites of the Sun. However, even better would be a government headed by the Church. They believe that a strong military will be needed in the conquest of space, not just the economy or other aspects of society. Among their ideas is that strength is what brought humanity into the afterlife and it should be what they use to gain their prize in it. Moreover, they think that all materialism is detestable. They see only truth in life is that of devotion to God, and that of the State which should only be guided by the principles of the Prophet’s morality and God himself. More or less, a theocratic government under the Rites of the Sun would censor any form of thought that includes ideas from the outside as this is already widely common within the Church itself.

A member of the Church of the Prophet and Disciples of the sun is called a Domist, after the Portuguese word for Sun. Outside of the influence of the Church, the group is most commonly called Domism. A Domist is expected to be devoted to the church in all aspects of life. They might exclude all who break its doctrine and are expected to live within Domist communities.

The leader of the Domist religion is the New Prophet, which is chosen a member of the inner circle of the followers closest to the Prophet of decades ago. The current New Prophet is Michael Força

    Party End Goal
Spreading the ethics of the Rites of the Sun to all humans and colonize the universe.

    Background:
The Rites of the Sun, or the Church of the Prophet and Disciples of the Sun, has its basis in the pre-WW3 Cults of South America during the 2150s. During this time of uncertainty the Cults particularly within of The New Brazilian Empire during the 3rd World War. Most of these groups were splintered and not completely organized. However, the start of WW3 brought to South America the growing power of one Church that soon overtook the rest. The Church of the Prophet and Disciples of the Sun had taken the signs of the new red sun has a sign that their prophet had already come to earth thus signaling the end of the world. WW3 had triggered it and the world had already ended, thus they were in the afterlife. From this belief, they think that the vast space around them is a gift from their God and that it is humanity obligation and right to expand and conquer their prize. In the present day, the Domist faith mainly occupies most of South America, with most of its influence being based within the remains of the Brazilian Empire, however there are pockets around the world of devote followers of Domism.

To avoid the destruction of our way of life. We as humans have already harmed each other for years, so why should we give the "enemy" an edge. By being a collective whole we can serve our ultimate purpose. To reach the next step in humanity, and i'd like to do it by our own hands. Keeping outside influence to a minimum of course. But like I said I like to do my job, and that job is to create the proper Eden spoke of in the bible. God sent us out here for a reason after all right?"

John was a former general in America during the middle half of the 30 year war. He received multiple honors, and was always quite vocal in advocacy of his nation. Many flocked to him as his natural charisma and battle tactics more than his share of victories. At least that was until the final word came out, and it seemed as though the world truly wasn't fated to end. He was among the generals that were chosen to help lead the new united army of Eden. His sliver-tongue allowed him to beat out his completion to achieve the top seat on Eden only, but he also worked his way into getting a Parliament seat as well. This gave rise to his political party, The Romanian Democrats, as he believed that this universe was a gift from God. One that would be wasted if they let others boss them around, if there is other life out there in the first place.

GAME GLOSSARY
This is just to help inform you as to what things mean RP wise from the game standpoint. You'll see these in the Situational Reports as actual numbers and statistics to help give an overall idea of the situation in the game.

As a heads up for Situational Reports, 1 in any resource = 1,000,000 of that resource rp-wise, as this is represented in an empire wide statistic, except for population. 1 Population = 100,000,000 People.

  • Energy Credits - A new form of currency, turning solar and electrical energy into a currency of chips, slates and stick.

Minerals - A representation of raw materials, mostly used to build Stations, Buildings, Districts and armies.

Food - I don't think I need to explain what food means.

Consumer Goods - The various gadgets, luxuries and goods needed to give citizens a good life and to perform research with.

Alloys - Minerals turned into advanced alloys for the construction of military ships and starbases.

Influence - Represents political clout and is spent on a large variety of things, like enacting Edicts, fabricating claims, building outposts and a variety of other applications.

Unity - A numerical representation of our progress towards new traditions and ascendancy perks.

Research - A numerical representation of our current technological level, comes in 3 different types.
    • Physics - A representation of our studies into the fields of Physics, Weapons and Defenses, alongside its associated fields.
    • Society - A representation of our studies into the fields of Culture, Society and Politics, alongside its associated fields.
    • Engineering - A representation of our studies into the fields of Engineering, Manufacturing and Ships, alongside its associated fields.

Strategic Resources - There are a large variety of special resources out in the universe that, once researched, can be utilized. As they're discovered they'll be detailed here.

Empire Sprawl and Administrative Capacity - Empire Sprawl is a measure of the territorial expanse of our empire in the form of controlled systems, colonies and districts. Administrative Capacity is the amount of Empire sprawl we can have before our empire starts stretching itself administratively in order to manage our empire.

Population - The numerical representation of our empire. 1 Population = 100,000,000 People.

Starbase Capacity - The amount of Starbases (not outposts, of which we can have an infinite amount) we can sustain before we start stretching ourselves administratively in order to maintain them.

Naval Capacity - The numerical representation of how much our Navy can sustain before we start stretching ourselves administratively in order to maintain it.

Empire Cohesion - A measure of the overall cohesiveness of the territory controlled by our empire. The lower our Empire cohesion the more it affects our Empire Sprawl.

Trade Value - A numerical measure of a planet or systems total Trade Value, which is turned into a variety of different resources (mainly Energy Credits, but this can be changed)

Fleet Power - A numerical measure of a fleets offensive and defensive capability.

  • Internal Market - The Internal Market is a place where we can buy and sell minerals, food, alloys and consumer goods (and eventually Strategic Resources) from private mining companies in return for Energy Credits. The amount we buy and sell determines their prices.

Sectors - Sectors are areas of space ruled by Governors, they're created as the game decides they need to be and are affected by their respective governors and can even be given automation via that governor deciding everything for those planets they control. We can eventually turn them into vassals or give them a stockpile of resources they can utilize for their own needs if we do automate them.

Policies - Policies are the empires view and decisions on a variety of levels. These affect the empire in a large variety of ways, depending on which policies are changed to what.

Edicts - Edicts are special long-term effects that can be activated via Influence or certain Strategic Resources once we get access to them.

Traditions - Traditions are views and policies our empire adopts, granting us a variety of permanent boons. When a tradition is completed it unlocks an Ascension Perk slot, allowing us to pick any Ascension Perk we decide to choose.

Ascension Perks - Ascension Perks are special views and policies that give us major permenant boons and even allows us to do special things, like for instance build a ringworld, create black hole bomb, turn a planet into a ship, etc.

Factions - The game does indeed have it's own Factions system, however I will be foregoing it in favor of our own political factions one.

Technology - As research is completed we gain new choices into which technologies we'd like to pursue, we typically get a choice of 3, but certain technologies and other factors give us more options to choose from when its possible to research something new.

  • Stability - Stability is a percentage measure of the overall political and physical stability of the planet. It's determined primarily by population happiness. Low stability means overcrowding, low amenities and even crime. If it's low enough for long enough time, a revolt could happen.

Crime - A percentage measure of the overall, well, crime running rampant on the planet.

Districts - Districts are major areas of population focused on a single area. They provide Housing and Jobs (of which can also be provided by buildings). The amount of districts available on a planet are determined by the planet's Size, the Blockers and Rare Planetary Features and other third party factors. There are 4 district types:
    • City Districts - Dense urban centers providing large amounts of housing and office space for clerical workers.
    • Generator Districts - Rows of massive power plants that generate large amounts of energy which can then be used or converted into energy credits.
    • Mining Districts - Mining towns and resource extraction centers that drill deep into the mantle to access mineral deposits.
    • Agriculture Districts - Land set aside for cultivation, either through the growing of crops or animal husbandry.

Rare Planetary Features - Special features and terrain known on this planet that rarely pop up anywhere else.

Blockers - Planetary features that block the way for further development. Can be removed, costing energy credits and time, to free up room for more Districts.

Current Population/Available Jobs - Current population displays the current total population on a planet, regardless of race or class. Available Jobs displays how many jobs are currently available for population to be employed in.

Jobs - Jobs are created through Districts and Buildings. It follows the same scaling as Population, so in that 1 Population = 100,000,000 People, 1 Available Job = 100,000,000 available jobs.

Buildings - The main source of Jobs and Production for resources, every single building represents a large amount of buildings and facilities created to give jobs and production of its type. (Buildings typically give around 2-3 Jobs, or 200,000,000-300,000,000 Jobs). We gain access to a new Building slot every 5 population on a planet, up to a max of 36 buildings at 175 population (17,500,000,000 population).

Amenities - A numerical representation of planetary infrastructure and jobs dedicated towards fulfilling the day-to-day needs of the population. A low or even negative number in this leads to high population unhappiness and even things like Black Markets and Pirates popping up.

Housing - A numerical representation of planetary infrastructure dedicated to house the population. 1 Population takes 1 Housing. Free housing gives immigration pull but negative housing lowers stability, emigration and unhappiness.

Unemployment - A numerical representation of the amount of population currently unemployed. Unemployed populations produce no resources and lower planetary stability (though there are edicts that change this).

Decisions - Decisions are special actions we can do to/on a planet.

Happiness - A numerical percentage determining how happy the people of the planet are. A low population can lead to a large variety of problems.

Habitability - A numerical percentage determining how possible it is to create a colony on the planet (typically most planets are at 0%, while preferred ones have around 75% or higher)

Armies - Defense Armies represent ground troops of 250,000 in a single unit. Garrison strength is a numerical representation of how well defended a planet is. Assault Armies are the same as Defense Armies, but are the offensive side, meant to attack and invade other planets.

Planet Devastation - A bar representing how devastated the planet itself is. A full Planet Devastation bar means that there is no planet devastation at all, and defending armies gain a variety of boons to help in defending the planet from invaders.

You don't need to know anything about the game in order to participate. This is RP centric, in which whatever you all decide to do, I try to emulate into the game. This glossary is just to help give you information as to what things in it mean.

This interests me. I’ll have to read it more thoroughly after work.

Ah right, if anyone wants info on a spot before they claim it, I can send it. That info would include their age, gender and their special skills.

So as a heads up for anyone making a religious or spiritual characters. Try not to use actual real life gods and religions. I understand that it may be weird, considering this is earth, just with a new name and all, (especially with a name like eden), but I'd rather not have it possible that this all turn into a debate as to which religion is the national empire-wide religion all that. We're humans because we all have different beliefs.

I'm going to make my character later in this post once I get some inspiration. I might PM some of the players to get some connections between the characters going, like rivalries and stuff.

Another great faction, I really like their flags too. I can see the Red Sun and Romanian Democrats being an "on again off again" relationship in terms of bills and votes.

Heretics can be useful (sometimes)

The same can be said of cultists (sometimes)

Forgot to say, but there's a poll up for whether a discord should be made or not.

I'mma make the first situation report tomorrow, it'll most likely cover the first 10 years, that or potentially shorter.
