The USS Asahi (pronunciation: Ah-Saw-he; translation: "morning sun"), one of the new Vesta-class starships. Like her sister ships, the Asahi is one of the first Federation starships to be equipped with an advanced quantum slipstream drive as well as many other new, experimental technology. However, how advanced the Asahi is, is not the important question. The important question; Is her crew worthy enough to boldly go where no one has gone before?
Set in the year 2380, this Star Trek roleplay centers around the voyages of the Asahi and her crew. While senior officer positions may be limited, doesn't mean you can't join in as an officer or enlisted personnel. On a starship everyone is involved in keeping the ship running at peak efficiency. I'll add more information later.
TO THE ROLEPLAY THREAD
~~~
RULES & GUIDELINES:
In this RP there will be story arcs. Each story arc will be plotted in the OOC thread. If you join the RP after the first story arc, please be specific on how your OC gets on the Asahi, such as transferring over when the Asahi docked at Starbase 255, ect. And, yes, once a story arc is over and we go back to plotting the RP it will be a casual day on the Asahi which is good for character development.
The RP will usually advance in about a week. This gives you time to pursue other hobbies, do your homework, work at a job, and generally have a life.
I only ask for at least one paragraph. Actually, I'm a kind person, so at least two lines or more.
You may have up two characters, however, ONLY ONE can be a senior officer.
To prevent godmodding, I (the impartial GM) decides who gets hit and who doesn't get hit in combat. This is to prevent people from constantly auto-dodging every attack, or always sniping everyone in the head without fail. It also makes for some suspense when your character has to take risks and doesn't know if they'll pay off!
Though this was mentioned above, I'm going to mention it again. Absolutely NO god-mod, metagame, powerplay, and/or having Mary/Gary Sue OCs. If you aren't sure whether your next post is god-modding or not, it's better to ask in the 'Out Of Character' thread before posting the reply. Better safe than sorry. (WORKSHOP - Godmodding and Metagaming | IwakuRoleplay.com )
Make sure you remain courteous and kind towards your fellow roleplayers. Remember; we're all here to have fun. Rude behavior will NOT be tolerated. Warnings will be issued on first and second offense, but after, I will not hesitate to ban.
Be sure to discuss plot in the OOC thread (this thread). We will all hold a vote on whose plot to use, if necessary.
As far as relationships go, before attempting to pair your character up with someone elses, please make sure the other roleplayer is okay with pairing the two characters up as well.
ALL 18+ CONTENT IS TO GO INTO A SPOILER TITLED '18+ ONLY'. THEREFORE, ANYONE UNDER 18 IS TO NOT READ WHATEVER LIES WITHIN THE SPOILER! OR YOU EITHER TAKE TO THE PMs OR 'FADE TO BLACK' / TIMESKIP.
On occasions, it's possible that people will be busy or accidentally miss your reply. If you have a reply you feel has been missed or ignored, don't be afraid to ask someone to reply in the OOC thread or PM them. Just be sure you give them time before doing so, and, if / when you ask be sure to be polite about it. It also helps to tag people.
We completely understand if you're busy or have things going on that you need to deal with or need breaks from the roleplay. It happens to the best of us. Please, though, if you have the chance to at least let us know beforehand you'll be gone, please do. It helps with knowing what needs to be done with characters that are currently with yours. Any sort of warning is appreciated.
Do your best with spelling and grammar, please. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it needs to be understandable. (Here's an on-site guide to grammar WORKSHOP - Grammarholics Anonymous - Your Grammar Guide! | IwakuRoleplay.com )
If for whatever reason you feel unsuited to participate in the roleplay anymore, PM a mod or mention an abandonment in the OOC so that appropriate action can be taken. the - Abandoned; Unassigned - flag will be given to your character's position, allowing the existing posts with them to maintain merit unless discussed and determined not to by all involved. Remember, the goal is to be fun, not to be stressful.
Finally, if you have any questions, feel confused or upset, or need help for any reason, ask me in the OOC, via a PM, or over Skype. You can also contact me through the social media listed below. Though, I recommend you contact me through Skype.
Hyper-Subspace Communications: The principle is basically the same as with standard subspace communications, the only difference lying in the use of a tachyon beam applied to an artificial (preferably natural) itinerant pulsar to open a microwormhole sufficiently wide enough to transmit subspace messages and information. This new form of communication was developed by Lieutenant Reginald Barclay of the Pathfinder Project in an attempt to contact the USS Voyager that later succeeded and was used to keep lines of communication between Starfleet and Voyager.
Character Sheet Template:
The full proper name of your character.
Species:
Try to use the available races/species of the United Federation of Planets within the Trek Universe. If you would rather create one or use one from the Aurora's missions, consult with the Game Master before writing anything for the biography as the request may be denied. While there is leeway for new races or non-Federation and ally races, unless you are a known (trustworthy) writer to the RP's administration, there is a large possibility this request will be denied until such a time as you have proven yourself to the RP as a whole, over time. NO Q OR OP OMNIPOTENT RACES!
Date of birth:
The exact date of birth of your character.
Place of birth:
Where your character was born.
Languages:
Any languages your character knows, within reason.
Interests:
A list of activities, hobbies, sports, games, basic interests of your character. Be concise by using one word to describe each interest where possible.
Education:
(Date-date: location), example:
2363-2367: Starfleet Academy
2367-2369: Daystrom Institute of Technology
4 years is the minimum requirement for Starfleet Academy, anything less will not be accepted unless your character is an enlisted officer, warrant officer, or a civilian.
Service Record:
(Date-date: rank, department, location), example:
2369-2372: Ensign, Tactical Officer, USS Voyager
2372-2375: Lieutenant JG, Tactical Officer, USS Voyager
2375-Pres: Lieutenant, Chief Tactical Officer, USS Enterprise
There is no exact amount of years to gain rank, but it is considered that it would be from two to five years for an officer to gain the next rank. Try to be realistic with the years between promotions. It's possible to also be promoted quickly as a result of war-time in-field promotions, but please use these sparingly.
Decorations:
A listing of the decorations that your character has ever received throughout his or her or it's career, or even during education. Please use Memory Alpha and Memory Beta as your primary reference.
Background:
The factual life story of your character thus far. This is the main historical background on your character, usually the longest part of the biography and most important. Be as subjective or objective as you like in its portrayal, but it doesn't have to be like a seven paragraph essay! However, make it worth reading.
Personality Profile:
This section describes your character's psychological profile, what they're like in general.
Physical Profile:
The full physical description of your character, be as detailed or as concise as you'd like to be here. Also, you are welcomed to use a face claim.
Special Notes:
This section can contain any additional notes about your character that you consider important. If your character is a vegetarian, for example, you can put that information here. If they have special beliefs, abilities, impairments, what have you, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, this is the spot.
