"Oh, I wasn't expecting the sabers to take up two spaces...but then again, they are weapons, so whatever." Ryūketsuki walked into the next area, a forest path that felt much more malicious than before. Somehow, the fog felt a bit more evil than before, perhaps it became poisonous? But on the bright side, it also seemed to disappear and reappear in certain areas, providing a clear path for a short duration of time. There were also trees in the spots where the fog didn't touch, giving the blonde an idea.

Waiting for the next moment of clearness, Ryu started to sprint, trying her best to get to the first tree before the fog came back. "Yahoo~" Jumping up, she tried grabbing a branch to test her climbing sense. Well, it also gave her a chance to train her movement sense as well, as parkour seemed to be the way to train it. But, if all else fails, she'll at least hopefully learn something about the two senses after this. [/fieldbox]

The lack of any success at identifying the potions was a bit disappointing, but Keter didn't let the failure distract him. Yet his caution seemed unwarranted as nothing revealed itself as he walked the path, and boldened by the lack of danger he sped up to a light jog. The chilling fog was still present and, even if it was ultimately only uncomfortable, that was enough motivation for him to hurry things up a bit.

Keter slowed to a stop when he entered into yet another clearing, and his eyes were instantly drawn to the light that fell to the ground. Naturally he readied himself for battle when the fog coalesced around it. The fog hadn't been helpful in the slightest so far, and he was almost certain this was a monster spawn animation. It did appear with an accompaniment of rather gruesome sounds, but he remained unbothered as he sized up the weak undead. As it lurched forward towards him, he pointed towards the undead and muttered, "Bolt." In response, he felt something drain from inside him, but a small projectile formed in front of him before it flew out towards the monster.

Magic Word: Bolt
31 - 11 Accuracy = 20

The projectile crashed right into the undead and staggered it slightly, but unbothered it pressed forward without care for the 11 that popped up above its head. To Keter's surprise and annoyance, he was actually slower than the damn thing. Guess the 1 Quick life really was suffering huh? Moving away did buy him a bit of time though, enough for his Observe Art to kick in against the creature before it managed to get close enough to make a downward slash. It was easy enough to stop on a dime and step into the attack, his hand shooting up to try and grab the monster's wrist, halting its attack prematurely if he was successful.

As the final impromptu stab was made, jamming the dagger right into its skull, Tsukikage watched as the undead being disappeared into pixelated ash. She looked at her left hand, her empty hand, and she clenched and unclenched it slowly. So that was the effect of 'Sense', huh? Even if she was able to visualize it, the system will interfere with her movements as long as she doesn't have the prerequisites associated with whatever action she wanted to perform. This wasn't a purely stat-based game then, huh? While she had originally imagined that Senses were usually just a collection of bonuses that increased your damage or improved your success rate for crafting, maybe that Movement Sense had some use after all.

Nevertheless, the undead was dead again, and it left behind its sword, as well as a small crystal. Picking it up after sheathing her two daggers, the young girl examined it for a moment, before clicking her tongue. Looked like there was no 'examination' or 'item appraisal' ability that came for free as well, huh? Sounds like another Sense that she'd have to get at one point. She tossed it into her Sack, alongside the blunt, rusty sword, and looked towards the path northwards.

The combat part of this tutorial was finished, even if there were no instructions to begin with. Was she now going to have to go through a puzzle or something? Or maybe some sort of EXP allocation tutorial?

Hopefully not, really. Tsukikage wasn't planning on spending any EXP until she had a better idea of what exactly was valuable. Soul Bound Online was a sandbox MMO, sure, but that didn't mean that you weren't punished for expending your precious resources wastefully.

With that in mind, she removed the notifications and strode onwards, into this forest of fog and death.

Observe
89 - 20 Observe = 69

There was something one needed to know about parrying a weapon attack whilst unarmed. In order to parry it, you had to bring your body into it, so in reality if you weren't too skilled you were better off dodging. Fortunately this creature just had a bad swing, the blade completely missing the mark so he didn't even need to try and parry, but now he was right in front of the creature so he was right up close in personal.

There was the sound of a notification, but it was a tiny box in the corner of vision, most likely there to not interfere with combat since right now when face to face with an enemy one wouldn't have the time to check notifications. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Ryūketsuki, yellow, solid]
Running
3 - 16 Movement = -13

Ryūketsuki would be able to quickly and easily run through the first patch of receding and returning fog with relative ease. It seemed that thanks to her Movement she could not only run faster, but somehow knew how to put more than just strength into it, but speed as well. It was not only ability, but knowing as well. Somehow she would just somewhat know, or that could be the way it was described.

Tree Climb
34 - 16 Climb = 17

She was able to easily pull herself up onto the limb with her Climbing ability. It seemed she could just somehow climb well enough now thanks to the Climbing Sense. It all seemed rather useful. There was still a good stretch of path to go. Above her there was a bit more tree to climb to get to a limb that connected to the next tree, which would give her access to the next patch of receding and returning fog. Way high up in this tree though there seemed to be... something there. As one of the various lights passed by it, it gave a very tiny glint, but it was high up meaning a fall would be deadly.

It was either that, or keep running along the ground and hoping she could continue to avoid the fog, which seemed to return and recede at various timings and intervals. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Tsukikage, grey, dashed]
When Tsukikage reached the next area, she would see a path herself, littered with trees and such, fog rolling along the ground. There seemed to be those same small balls of light moving about and around the area, almost as if they were... patrolling. Before Tsukikage could move any further it sounded like a young child was whispering into her ear.

"They hate the living. They damn them to their own hell. Avoid them or you too shall become one of the wandering lights"

It seems like this was some kind of stealth section, or so that whisper would tell. Perhaps there was more here to just sneaking around, or all she had to do was sneak around? The next path forward could be seen a good bit ahead, but for now it seemed like avoiding detection was a good plan. [/fieldbox]

Oh, this was a tailor-made tutorial then? Tsukikage had played enough games to know what this ominous prompt wanted her to do. Though the gamer in her wanted her to straight up just murderize every one of the mobs that she encountered, seeing how long it took for her to take a single one of those undead swordsmen down, as well as the possibility that there would be skeleton archers in the fray too, the white-haired girl suppressed those instincts for the time being.

Pulling her dark cloak over her head and regulating her breathing, the petite girl bundled herself up until only her red eyes peeked through the blackness of her attire. There were lots of trees, and lots of fog as well, so, all things considered…time to play some good ol Metal Gear Liquid.

With a single breath, she activated the Hide Sense, and, like the shadow of the moon, soundlessly drifted from one tree to the other, alert for any monsters or floating lights.

Hm…maybe she'll search Google for an Ambush sense in the future.

Sitting on the lower tree limb, Ryūketsuki looked back to see the fog had blanketed the ground where she once walked, thankful that she didn't have to deal with that anymore. Looking up, she noticed the intertwining tree limbs that connected this tree with the next, giving access to the next patch of moving fog. As a little fairy light-thingy passed by it, she also saw a brief glance of...something . Blinking once, it was gone, leaving her to question whether or not it was just a trick of the mind.

What's that?

Grabbing the next branch up, the blonde decided to investigate, and began to climb to where the tree limbs collided. It was a better chance then going back down there, and after all, this is a tutorial dungeon. It's not like she'll meet a grim reaper on the first get-go...right? [/fieldbox]

Keter jerked his hands away from the monster and would have shrugged if he weren't practically up in its face at the moment. He had no part in how badly the attack had missed and figured it was just a bad roll from the algorithms that made up the monster. The urge to pull away and look at what his Art had revealed was strong, but the undead had already proved it could catch up without any real trouble. Unfortunately, he would have to wait until after the battle to check the results.

The urge was suppressed as he dug a foot into the ground, pushed off of it, and slammed his fists into the Undead in front of him.

Punch 1
68 - 25 Distance Bonus - 12 Accuracy = 31
Punch 2
14 + 20 Full Attack Penalty - 25 Distance Bonus - 12 Accuracy = -3

He felt his blows sink into the flesh and something even cracked from all the damage he had done, but the monster didn't seem bothered in the slightest. It would really have been nice to be able to take a glance at the notification. At a bare minimum it probably had how much Endurance remained for the creature. A red 8 and 12 flashed above its head briefly and then Keter prepared for the creature's counter attack. Maybe it wouldn't be of any use, but he didn't see how it could hurt to keep his Observe Art up on the creature. It might let him catch a hint of whether it would be better to parry, dodge, or just stay still if the creature flopped like it had the first round.

"Amazing!"

Rumeus was surprised. The texture, look, and taste of the water almost perfectly resembled reality. One thing he remembered about video games was that they never got the aspects of water down correctly. But this was the most convincing imitation so far.

He drank until his Soul became full.

"An 'I', huh?"

After pocketing the key, he moved onwards towards the next path.

"Woah!"

He barely dodged the monster that appeared in front of him. Since there were no monsters so far, Rumeus' guard was down as he was fiddling with his menu when the monster suddenly attacked.

He hurriedly withdrew on reflex, then rummaged through his pockets.

"Uhhh, this thing..."

He took out the Ether Stone and used it to cast an Earth Bullet towards the enemy. If that killed the enemy, then he would proceed onwards. However, if that failed, he would repeat the process of taking his distance then firing off a Bullet. If he ran close to depleting his Soul, he would go back the way he came and take drinks from the spring before proceeding onwards.

Stealth
28 - 21 Stealth = 7

Tsukikage hid and crouched low, controlling their breathing and movements as they utilized the Hide Art and their Stealth Sense. It seemed like somehow she just... kind of knew how to move quietly. It was a little strange, the game system being at work here obviously. Still, for the most part Tsukikage was able to move around quietly and very slowly, but undetected nonetheless. The path was not too far away, but as she moved about there seemed to be a few lights moving around a tree not too far from her.

They seemed to be... patrolling a bit more around that tree. Of course, their patrolling wasn't really militaristic or guarding patrolling, but more or less aimless wandering. There wasn't much of a pattern, but they weren't really searching either. From her position not too far away from this tree there was also no fog around its base unlike the other trees. Perhaps something was there? Perhaps nothing was there. It was up to her on whether or not she would take the bait and see what was there or move on. Perhaps if she was stealthy enough she could get there, find out what was there, and then take it and move away.

Of course, as she moved about, a notification would eventually appear that her Hide Art was now Level 2.

[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Ryūketsuki, yellow, dashed]
Tree Climbing
38 - 16 Climb = 22

She managed to pull herself once again up onto the next limb. If she looked up, she could now see that the glinting object was a key of some kind, hanging by a string on a limb that she would have to somehow climb up to since it was just a bit beyond her reach, just a small bit though. She could either keep moving forward though to the next tree, or try and see if she could somehow reach the key dangling above her. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Kater, blue, solid]
Observe
67 - 20 Observe = 47

Keter decided to keep utilizing the Observe Art and hope to find some information on the beast before him. Since he wasn't right next to the beast and was taking the time to read the notifications that appeared, a notification did appear as he examined the creature and its current state.

[fieldbox=Observe]
This creature is known as a Lost One, a person who's Soul is forever dead, but unable to move on to the next world due to the seal on the world. This lost soul is weak, and empty of all things, so they are more accurately called the Empty Ones.

Their sword arm is strong and, while not particularly fast, their sword arm is deadly so to the physically weaker keeping a distance is recommended. The rusty sword is also rather sharp, so not touching it is probably advised. Their swing is somewhat accurate though, the creature having a small bit of ability with it, even if that ability is brutally swinging it around.

This particular creature has lost a bit of the force driving its physical form, but its form of death will continue to move strongly until that force is destroyed. [/fieldbox]

So whether or not he should parry or dodge was unclear, but dodge was probably for the best. As he stood there, the creature suddenly lunged forward a bit now, the lunge being rather sloppy, but powerful as it aimed to slash downward upon Keter.

Dodging or parrying, regardless of what he did, the creature's blade managed to barely slash across his torso. It would have struck deeper, had it not lunged from a distance, but its lunge left a rather bright red mark across his chest, searing white hot pain moving through him as the blade struck. It hurt alot, 11 Endurance having been lost as the red bar went down. Part of the red bar, a small part, became black as a tiny 1 appeared next to the health bar. This was pain in the game, and it hurt. Alot. Furthermore just one attack, that wasn't even that deep of an attack, was already mostly gone.

He would have to fight hard and fast if he wanted to beat this and come out of it alive, dodging probably a better option, as was keeping a distance perhaps. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Rumeus, olive, solid]
Rumeus would also be fighting, shooting his Earth Bullet at his enemy, holding the Brown Ether Stone in his hand as he did so.

Earth Bullet
22 - 12 Brown Ether Affinity = 10

The bullet was successfully invoked and rather strong. Now all he could hope for was that it would hit the Imp like enemy, which he was about a Medium distance from.

Earth Bullet Aiming
45 - 25 Distance Bonus - 2 Accuracy = 18

A red 10 appeared over its head and it seemed to screech in pain as the blow was rather deep. There appeared to be some red marks on it that were 'leaking' red light slightly to stimulate wounds. The creature angrily chittered as it charged forward, it being rather quick, as it aimed to slash.

While its attack was pretty accurate and precise, with how far away it was Rumeus was more than prepared to quickly step out of the way to avoid the deadly blade, firing another Earth Bullet in the process as with his dodge he managed to actually move a small bit away as well.

Earth Bullet
0 (Critical... SERIOUSLY?!)

The bullet he managed to create was a bit bigger now, pulsing with the power of Brown Ether as it was fired forward rather quickly.

Earth Bullet Aiming
33 - 10 Critical Bonus - 2 Accuracy = 21

The powerful bullet slammed into the creature once again with incredible force, blasting it backwards as it yelped out heavily in pain. A red 19 appeared over its head now before it fell backwards, collapsing before it vanished in a poof of fog and reddish smoke. It left behind a small horn, a small talon, and its rusty saber. Furthermore, upon its defeat, the area behind him; which had actually closed off at the beginning of the fight but he didn't notice it due to looking at his menus, had reopened.

Furthermore the area in front of him seemed to open slowly, the trees moving and fog pouring out from the area as a chill swept through the clearing he was in, something seemingly much more... ominous about this next area as the chills rocked his entire body.

There were several notifications that appeared though.

[fieldbox= Reward, white, dashed]
You have completed your first fight. +2 EXP. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Brown Ether Affinity, blue, dashed]
Brown Ether Affinity is now Level 2.
+1 Brown Ether Affinity. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Earth Bullet, blue, dashed]
Earth Bullet is now Level 4. [/fieldbox]

It seemed he had gained a small bit of good experience in some things and managed to survive the fight somehow. All that was left was to examine his rewards, rest himself, recharge his Ether Stone since he had used it twice, and prepare himself for the area ahead. [/fieldbox]

It truly was an odd sensation, being guided by the system itself. One part of Tsukikage didn't like it, how the machine was in control of her motions, but on the other hand, it was definitely more like playing those old handheld video games, what with how pressing buttons equaled some insanely acrobatic motion that wasn't even imaginable. As she continued to drift silently from one tree to the next, she eventually came to the realization that there was no set pattern to the movement of the lights. They were definitely just wandering, merely a bunch of beings that had no leader or intelligent AI, which was a good thing.

God knows how annoying it'd be if she was expected to kill a group of trained undead soldiers. Unless it was meant to teach her how to run instead?

A smirk formed beneath her scarlet scarf, as she looked towards that particular tree. It was too far away to make out why exactly they were guarding it, but at the same time, the young girl had to admit that her curiosity was piqued. And, anyways, it was just a game, right? As long as she didn't actually die, everything would be fine. Keeping low and using the fog itself to mask her presence, she began to approach the tree.

Curiousity may kill the cat, but Tsukikage was confident that she could outrun death.

"Fucking useless." Couldn't the Art give him something that actually helped him out? Keter couldn't give two shits about the lore behind the monster, and what information he did receive was pretty damn obvious. He supposed it might have been too much to expect from a level one Art, but there wasn't much time for consideration as the Lost One lunged forward.

He tried to backpedal away, but this time the creature did not make a mistake. Its technique was abysmal, but his character simply could not move fast enough as a consequence of his practically non-existent Quick score. The shattered tip carved cleanly through his tunic and left a glowing red line, but it was hard for him to focus on anything other than the pain that wracked his body almost immediately afterwards. His heart seemed to seize in response as his fists clenched even tighter, but the sensation wasn't unfamiliar to Hideo.

It had been quite some time since he last played, but this brought back old memories of Blood Blade. There wasn't the warmth of blood as it flowed and stained his clothes nor was the pain as intense, but, damn, he had not missed this. With a glance at his Endurance bar, most of which had disappeared as a result of the single blow, Keter realized that he didn't really have much of a choice here. If he went for a potion, the Lost One would probably take advantage of the opening. "Too soon in the game for all or nothing, but damn this is pathetic." With that rather long complaint, he planted a foot behind him, pushed off it, and struck out again.

Punch 1
3 - 25 Distance - 12 Fisticuffs (Accuracy) = -34

With the creature right in point blank brawling range now there was no choice other than to throw punches as quickly as possible. Luckily he was right next to it and his first punch was incredibly accurate, dealing 12 Damage upon impact, a groan of pain escaping from it as it was punched. Well... it was hard to tell if it was feeling pain or just groaning in general.

Punch 2
51 - 25 Distance - 12 Fisticuffs (Accuracy) = 14

The second punch struck just as well, another 12 appearing, the creature falling backwards upon this strike, vanishing in a small poof of fog and light as it squirmed for a few moments before fully disappearing. Upon the ground where it fell was a small brass key that had an "I" engraved upon it and a rusty, broken bronze sword.

[fieldbox= Reward, white, dashed]
Won your first fight. +2 EXP. [/fieldbox]
In the center of the area a bright light came from above, like the one before when the Lost One appeared, but this time it cleared away a bit of the fog as a spring seemed to form in the ground, a ring of rocks appearing as clear water began to fill the spring. A whisper, like an elderly man, could be heard in his ear.

"The spring shall mend your soul. The forest is aiding you".

Whether or not this was true was up for Keter to decide, but he was pretty bad on Endurance, had a Wound, and had lost some Soul as well.

Furthermore, suddenly the area in front of him seemed to open slowly, the trees moving and fog pouring out from the area as a chill swept through the clearing he was in, something seemingly much more... ominous about this next area as the chills rocked his entire body.

Things seemed to freeze for him as the Lost One collapsed to the floor and disappeared. A whole sequence of events seemed to play out and only after had they finished did Keter find himself able to move again. His hand clutched at the wound left by the monster as he winced in pain, but he soldiered on and picked up both pieces of loot that the monster had dropped. It was a bit of a shame he didn't have the one EXP he needed to up his Cunning to 20, but moping about it wouldn't do him any good either.

The freshly appeared Spring was suspicious as hell, but with his current condition and the atmosphere that the next area gave off, did Keter really have a choice? Well sure he could try and go on without recovering, but that would probably just end with him dead shortly afterwards. Keter sighed softly before he turned his attention to the clear waters and felt his Observe Art kick in again. Ideally both his skill would work and the spring would not be a trap, but he did have the mysterious potions as a last resort...

"Huh."

Rumeus was once again surprised, but for a different reason. The visual effect of the damage was underwhelming, compared to everything before. He didn't have much time to dwell on it though, as he was still in combat. He dodged the imp's next attack and fired off another bullet, this one fatally injuring the creature.

"Whew!"

The bullet knocked back the creature as it went into its death throes. It vanished in a poof of fog and smoke, leaving behind various items.

"Huh, it didn't leave behind a corpse? I only expected that sort of effect on spiritual type creatures, not something like an imp..."

He briefly looked at the items before putting them in his sack. Then, he reflexively rubbed his arms with his hands, as a wave of cold came over him.

"H-h-h-hoo... T-t-t-that's C-C-C-COLD!"

His teeth chattered together in response to this sudden chill. After he eventually got accustomed to it, he closed the notifications that had popped up (after reading through them, of course).

"Hmm..."

A thought came to his head as he opened his status window. He noticed his Soul was recovered by this point, but had a feeling he was forgetting something.

"Oh yeah."

Rumeus hurriedly took out his Ether Stone and looked at its details. There were 3/5 uses on it remaining. He recharged the stone following the instructions that were given to him by the game.

"Guess I'll wait a minute for my Soul to recharge..."

With his Recovery at 10, it would take two minutes for his Soul to be recovered. In the meantime, he enjoyed the scenery. Though it was a bit creepy, it was still beautiful to Rumeus.

"Looks like I'm set-wait a minute..."

A brief thought came to his head. Perhaps he could farm the enemies here for EXP? He remembered that in most RPGs enemies respawned upon leaving and reentering an area. And with the spring right behind him to replenish his Soul, would it not be a good opportunity?

"Hmm... Yeah, I'll do it!"

When Rumeus played RPGs, he would like to grind characters if he encountered a "seemingly unwinnable boss fight". Fights where it was possible to lose without penalty because you weren't supposed to win in the first place, but were winnable with enough skill or stats. There was something satisfying in mindlessly fighting weak mobs for hours then one or two-shotting the enemy when they came out to make a grand appearance. And Rumeus had a sort of instinct that the next area might just be that sort of intro boss.

With that, he would head towards the spring area, then would go back to the area where he first fought the imp. If all went well, he would repeat the process, grinding enemies. Of course, there was a chance the game would prevent him from doing so; he had not looked at guides or anything, he came into this game completely blind. In that case, he would probably just go towards the next new area.

Observe
33 - 20 Observe = 13

As he gazed at the calm waters of the spring, the following window appeared before him.

[fieldbox= Observe, orange, dashed]
The spring's waters are incredibly calm and incredibly pure like crystal. They do not give off the same unearthly chill that the fog gives off. If anything, there is an almost soothing presence to the water, as if even touching it would bathe one in comfort, but the water is most likely effective only when consumed. [/fieldbox]

As he drank from the crystal clear waters he would feel instantly refreshed. The taste was so pure, cool, and soothing upon his tongue, the pain from the wound beginning to ebb away as his strained spirit was too being mended, his Endurance and Soul bars refilling. Unfortunately the Wound had not faded, but at least he had almost full Endurance now, back at 14/14 with just 1 Wound.

With that said and done, all he could do now was prepare for the next area. Possibly spend EXP if need be or just mentally prepare himself even. Either way... whatever was next didn't seem like it was going to be easy. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Tsukikage, grey, dashed]
Hiding
19 - 20 Stealth = -1

Tsukikage was even better now than she was before. Well... within reason of course. Still, she managed to sneak past the aimlessly wandering lights and managed to find herself at the base of the tree. At the foot of the tree was just a simple bag, and a quick peek at its contents, as here there wasn't much time to examine them, she could see two vials, a small crystal, and a key. Both vials had a bit of red liquid within them, a potion of some kind perhaps.

With how well she was doing it was easy for her to get away from the tree and into the next area, regardless of whether or not she took the bag with her. Upon reaching the next area she would receive the following notification.

[fieldbox= Reward, white, dashed]
You managed to sneak by without getting spotted once and find the secret reward. +2 EXP. [/fieldbox]

With that in mind, her secret reward was two vials of red liquid, a 5,000 Essence Crystal, and a brass key with a small I engraved upon it. Furthermore, while the area behind her was now closed, a path to the north opened in the same more ominous manner than the other new paths of the others had. In a slower manner as the trees moving and fog pouring out from the area as a chill swept through the clearing she was in, something seemingly much more... ominous about this next area as the chills rocked her entire body.

There was also a spring of crystal clear, pure water that was sitting there, the fog unable to touch the spring, and a sign next to it that read the following.

[fieldbox= Sign, white, dashed]
Drink the waters to mend your ailed spirit. [/fieldbox]

With that in mind, now Tsukikage finally had a bit of time to rest and prepare before moving on to the next area. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox= Rumeus, olive, solid]
While he was indeed able to get back to the spring, this game didn't function in the same way others did. Furthermore, after using the spring that last time to restore his Soul back up, it seemed like the amount of water in it was decreasing, meaning that he only had one more time to use the full restoring spring before it ran out. So he would have no choice but to move ahead or possibly see if he could grind a Skill just by spamming it and using the spring once his Soul ran out. [/fieldbox]

"Phew." The sensations were realistic enough that Keter sighed in relief as the sensation of pain began to fade and he felt the water revitalize both his body and "soul". It was difficult to describe how the presence of Soul, but it was vaguely like the Stamina system Blood Blade hd used, if more intrusive or noticeable. That aside he didn't advance even after his Endurance and Soul bars had maxed out, but rather he took a seat by the spring.

He recalled that Wounds weren't simply problematic because they reduced max Endurance, but they also dropped the success rate of basically every roll in the game. For someone with as little Endurance as him, that was the main danger associated with the condition. He knew that a long rest was one way to get rid of Wounds, but perhaps a surplus of healing would do the trick as well? Hopefully this couldn't make the situation any worse, but he drank a few more handfuls of water and then sat back to wait and see.

Well that wasn't really correct. With a handy supply of a restorative at Keter's side he figured he might as well experiment with the heavy cost of his Magic for the moment. The game guide listed various distance ranges that combat could be engaged from, but the UI revealed nothing and it was ultimately up to the player to eyeball the range between themselves and the monsters from what he had seen. With no real firearms, archery, or just shooting experience in general, he figured it might be a good chance to try and get a feel for the ranges right now. The fog that filled the treeline surrounding the area meant he probably wouldn't be able to test beyond a Middle attack distance, but it seemed unlikely a Far distance would appear in this sort of environment.

Nonetheless he felt his Observe Art kick in again as he tried to penetrate the surrounding fog for a slightly further target. Still seated on the ground, Keter muttered, "Bolt," and once again a small projectile appeared in front of him before it flew out to strike the slightly obscured tree. The 10 second cooldown wasn't all that long when he had nothing else to do, and the minutes as he waited to see if his Wound would heal was passed with sips from the Spring to recover what Soul he had used to fire out more Magic Word: Bolts.

The spring's diminishing volume was what eventually pushed Keter to stand and continue along his way. If there was a boss fight ahead, and that very much looked to be the case, he didn't want to drain the healing waters completely on the off-chance that he might be able to backtrack. The thought of spending what EXP he had earned was only entertained briefly, but there wasn't a use that was worth it in his eyes. The air grew colder as he approached the next area, but he simply clenched his fists, body tensing against the shivers, as he pushed through the fog.

Oh, were they HP potions or something? Or were they some sort of Alchemy Fire potion? Tsukikage would have loved to assume that it was the former, but with no Item Appraisal Sense, there was always the chance that these two potions were meant to be used to coat weapons instead. Paranoid, perhaps, but that troll-ass dungeon Loki's Descent from PAD Online was still fresh in her mind. Taking the bag and tying it to her sack, the white-haired girl swung her hips from side to side, getting accustomed to the new weight that was added to her featherlight body, before marching onwards, past the lights and away from the tree.

Eventually, the next area was reached, and another notification featuring +2 EXP was given. How annoying. Tsukikage wondered if there was a way to block system messages referring to EXP gain, before swiping it away.

What laid before her was a pretty looking spring, all twinkling waters and tinkling sound effects, and, if the sign was to be trusted, this area was definitely a rest stop, before the final part of the tutorial. Something powerful laid ahead, and no doubt, she should take this as a chance to rest and to focus.

Except this was still a goddamn tutorial dungeon, and Tsukikage's natural Recovery and Regeneration stats were more than enough to top her off back to full after that quick fight with the undead. She wasn't going to waste any more of her play time than necessary. Disregarding the spring, she did a few stretches, from touching her palms against the grass to lifting her slender leg all the way up to her head, before improvising with a few push ups as well. The swaying bag was a little bit annoying, and after some thinking, the girl decided to shove that bag in her Sack.

Her body limber once more, and any loose components secured, the white-haired girl drew out her two daggers, breathed deeply, and then began to stealthily approach the northwards entrance.

[fieldbox= Soren (Collab), purple, solid]

Throwing Knife 1
43 - 8 Accuracy - 35

The first knife hit the leaves and branches above it. Not much light shone through, if any at all, but a couple of small twigs and leaves did fall onto the statue. Nothing seemed to happen after the first knife, so the second one may do it.

Throwing Knife 2
0 (Critical!)

The second knife managed to hit and cut a branch just right, causing a gentle fall of leaves and twigs that was on the branch to fall on the statue, all which did not disturb the light. The statue's eyes suddenly opened, its expression clearing up a bit before from its eyes, its eyes opening a bit as if it had a good rest and a gentle awakening that made a good rest even better, shone with a bright light, a path to the east opening.

Then the statue proceeded, as if it was fully awake rather than rudely awaken, almost looked like it was standing up before it just vanished, the stone base it was sitting on seeming to crack right open like a stone box, a few notifications appearing before Soren now.

[fieldbox= Reward, white, dashed]
You managed to find the true solution. +2 EXP. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Thrown Weapons, green, dashed]
Thrown Weapons is Level 2
+1 Accuracy with Thrown Weapons[/fieldbox]

These seemed rather useful, plus now there was a potential loot box to search.
Soren continued to look at the tree above, the light had not gotten through as he planned, but as a consequence of his actions, he got the desired result. "Fine, I guess that works as well." He noticed the boxes appear, turns out he was pretty good at this throwing thing.

Stepping forward, he examined the loot box, before continuing on the new path which had opened up.

Inside of the box was a small brass key with a small 'I' engraved upon it. There was also a small 5,000 Essence Crystal, a small vial with light blue liquid in it, and a small vial with red liquid in it. It seemed like some pretty nice loot, but with no way to appraise it he would have no idea what the potions actually did.

If he chose to take it all, the next path would be his destination, and just like the others he would be greeted with both a light turning into a monster, that monster being the same undead like monster that Keter was fighting at the moment, it beginning to advance towards him now the moment it appeared, the creature rather slow compared to him.

With all of his first reward nicely tucked away into his inventory, Soren shortly found himself staring at a light, which shortly afterwards became a monster.

"Well, what is a tutorial with out any fighting." He looked at the monster, it seemed rather sluggish in comparison to himself. If I keep my distance I should be able to kill it without sustaining any harm. Soren pulled out his knives and proceeded to throw.

As long as he stayed close to make his knives harder to dodge, but a slight distance away, he could easily keep throwing knives until it died.

Throwing Knife
Accuracy: 37 - 25 Distance Bonus - 9 Accuracy = 3

The knife connected straight on, but the damage it dealt was only two Damage. Of course, with how Soren was circling it, being much faster, it didn't really get a chance to attack since it was still trying to get to him.

"Well, I did plan from the get go to not be a fighter from off the bat. Tutorials, enemy of the healer class." Soren spoke aloud to himself as he continued to circle around, and threw another knife.

Throwing Knife

The knife had a much more solid impact, sticking right into the creature's skull, but still despite that only 2 Damage was dealt once again. A notification did appear, but it was a tiny box in the side of his vision, since in combat it wasn't best to read notifications.

The creature suddenly turned and rushed towards Soren, swinging its sword wildly as it attempted to slash right at him. Unfortunately for Soren it missed by a wide margin, which was good as that swing seemed rather powerful.
It seemed like he would have to try a different method to take down this undead creature since his knives seemed to be doing minimal damage, the creature groaning out in pain as it had made its attack.

"Well, this doesn't seem to be working." He then thought of as many ways as he could to defeat the undead monster. Undead! That would be the key, in most games, any thing that should heal, would deal damage to undead, of course this would be more efficient! "Relief!"

Skills, unlike Arts, needed to be incanted in order to be used. So Soren would aim his hands towards to the 'undead' enemy and incant "Relief". His hands would glow with a soft green light before this light would flow to the undead enemy, this being Green Ether. The beast seemed to stop its advancements. It seemed like this worked, the beast lowering its sword as the Skill was used. It then seemed to slowly begin to advance once again towards Soren, but not as aggressively as before, sword still held limply at its side.

"Guess the beast is weakening." His plan had worked, as per usual, though i was hard to tell how much health undead had, and also if they had been injured hard, as they already look frail. "Relief." He used it again.

With the second usage of Relief the beast stopped once again. The orange lights in its eyes seemed to glow with much less intensity, slowly beginning to revert to the white light that had formed this creature in the first place. There was still a bit of that orange there in those eyes though, so the beast trudged forward. Once again. Still, this was good grinding though as a notification did reveal that Relief was now Level 2.

"Well at the very least, I'll come out of this able to come out of this with some experience in healing." He thought for a moment on how much sould he had left to use, assuming he didn't run into another foe too soon, he should be able to finish this one off with another relief, and if not, then it was even slower now, and he could follow it up with a soothing touch. "Time for part one, hopefully no part two. Relief." He cracked his neck and continued to heal it.

Of course, as he did this he would have to wait ten seconds between each usage. Luckily he was quicker than the beast and it didn't really advance quickly since it was becoming less aggressive with each use. Soon enough, with the third use, the glowing lights it had for eyes were now whitened and the beast stopped moving. Its twisted, horrid face seemed to have an almost... calm expression as it dropped the sword in its hand.

Its body seemed to slowly vanish in a poof of the same fog, the sword falling harmlessly to the ground, along with a brass key that had a small I engraved upon it. Where its body once stood was the light that formed it, the light almost having a serene presence to it now, before the area where the creature was standing seemed to be cleared of fog, a small spring now present there, its waters crystal clear and serene. Once that appeared, the ball of light then vanished into thin air.

The following notifications appeared. One that stated that Relief was now Level 3 and another that read as such.

[fieldbox= Reward, white, dashed]
You have managed to use your head and pacified the enemy in your first fight. +2 EXP. [/fieldbox]
Furthermore, to offset the pleasant peace, suddenly the area in front of him seemed to open slowly, the trees moving and fog pouring out from the area as a chill swept through the clearing he was in, something seemingly much more... ominous about this next area as the chills rocked his entire body. A new, more ominous path had been revealed.

Soren stared at the light till it faded away, "That was lovely." He spoke in his monotone lacking emotion, then walked over to the items that had been left behind, a key and the monster's sword, taking both. "Well, now then, I should go...that way, into the chilling unknown and possibly horrible death." He then turned to look at the water, "But first, a likely heal." He walked slowly over to the water and brought his face down to it and drank.

As he drank from the crystal clear waters he would feel instantly refreshed. The taste was so pure, cool, and soothing upon his tongue. His Soul bar would refill to full as he drank it. Then came the items. The Key and the Sword took up two more spaces in his Inventory, meaning that he only had one space left. He would have to be careful in case he found something else that he liked in the next area. [/fieldbox]

"Darn."

Rumeus was disappointed. He hoped this only applied to the intro level and there were other areas where he could grind later. Otherwise, what sort of RPG would this be?

"Well, time to go then."

He went towards the next new area, not bothering to drink from the spring, test his skills, or allocate EXP.[/fieldbox]

Ryūketsuki successfully managed to climb up to the point in which the tree limbs intersected, and looking up, she saw that the strange object from before was a key tied to a branch higher up. "Cool. I'll just grab that and-" As she went to reach for the next handhold, she stumbled a bit. Not enough for her to fall off, but enough for her to faceplant the current branch she was on, therefore forcing her to acknowledge just how high indeed she was.

"...Oh."

If she were to fall from this height, there would definitely be some serious damage taken. But, the key was just so shiny , the blonde couldn't resist the temptation to take it. And besides, perhaps this key was needed later, and by taking it now she wouldn't have to come back? Grabbing the next branch, the scythe-wielder began to climb up to where the key was. Climbing
47 - 16 Climb = 31

She managed to reach up and grab the key off of the limb, unfortunately breaking the string in the process though to get it, but nonetheless now she had it and could put it in her Inventory. With that in mind, there was only one way forward, and that was across the interconnected, rather sturdy limbs. Once she was across, then going down was the next option, which was much, much easier than climbing up.

Once she was at the bottom of the tree, she had two options. Attempt to keep moving through the receding and returning fog, making a straight rush for the end which lay in sight, or climb the tree that was next a bit down the dangerous path. Maybe there was something else hidden in the trees, or perhaps the trees were just a dead end. It was hard to say, but regardless the end was, while still slightly far away, in sight. [/fieldbox]

Hopefully it was a good thing that she got the key, but honestly the blonde was plenty done with climbing...for now. As she dropped down to the ground, she saw that her inventory was full, and yet again there was a patch of moving fog, coming and going like the waves of an ocean.
There was also another tree in between her and the exit that she could climb, yes, but she knew better than that. This game wasn't going to take her for a fool, not when she had a key already!

Without saying anything, Ryu began to dash towards the exit, hoping to god (or whatever higher being this game had) that she didn't just get herself killed. [/fieldbox]
