Story
Dianixen, the land of dawn—a beautiful place with villages, towns, and cities surrounded by either greenery or stark, snow-capped mountains. The robust country is home to beings known as Korastrix; humanoid creatures that can shift into dragons almost at will. The Korastrix have separated Dianixen into three nations: Nakisa, Kepiesk, and Bakmear. While they may inhabit these three kingdoms, some have decided to live on their lonesome. Korastrix such as rogues, bandits, and other vile beings may keep to themselves deep within forests and mountain ranges, only leaving when something catches their eye.
The three kingdoms of Dianixen have gotten along for many centuries until now. Tension is growing like gathering storm clouds behind false smiles and promises between the Korastrix of Nakisa, Kepiesk, and Bakmear. Feuds over borders have sent friends at each other's throats, newfound allegiances are dangerously weak…
While the Korastrix broil in greed, lust, vengeance, and wrath, a horror has awakened. The Old Gods, behemoth-sized dragons that have slumbered for countless years, have stirred from their sleep. They wreak terror wherever they go, leaving behind a path of death and destruction. The three kingdoms, noticing that they were in a serious predicament, have begun to gather a group of able-looking Korastrix of all nations. The group of mercenaries, although small, have been dubbed "The Wings of Dawn". They have been tasked with finding whoever is responsible for the awakening of the Old Gods… as well as taking the monsters down themselves.
Nations of Dianixen
Nakisa: to the south of Dianixen lies this warm kingdom. Lined with forests and dotted with streams and lakes, Nakisa is known for its manufacturing of delicious wines and other brews. The most southern tips of Nakisa are beaches where the sand is white and the water hardly makes you shiver.
Kepiesk: a temperate country, Kepiesk's territory is made up of miles and miles of moors and prairies. Some areas of Kepiesk are purely desert, but that did not stop the Korastrix from inhabiting them. The people of Kepiesk are known for their bountiful harvest of grains and meats, which is important to the rest of the realm.
Bakmear: just above Kepiesk is Bakmear. This northern country is not like Nakisa or Kepiesk— though, its dark coniferous forests and steep, rocky mountains are said to have a beauty in themselves. Dianixen relies on Bakmear to keep them supplied with different types of ores and fish.
Creatures of Dianixen
There are three main types of creatures that inhabit Dianixen.
Korastrix (Playable)
The Korastrix are the main inhabitants of Dianixen. In their Calmed (humanoid) forms, they are extremely similar to humans with the exception of the color of their eyes. A Korastrix's eyes may be normally or strangely colored. It is not rare to see someone with amber or purple eyes instead of brown or green. Their canines are also slightly longer and sharper than a human's, but do not poke out of their mouths. When a Korastrix is Feral (or in their dragon forms), they resemble a common western dragon. All Feral Korastrix have four legs and at least one pair of wings. They are approximately the size of a transit bus in both height and length. Other than being similar to a western dragon, Feral Korastrix may have ears, spines, longer tails, frills, etc.
A Korastrix can stay Feral for a limited amount of time. The more experienced Korastrix can stay Feral for a longer time period than the unexperienced. Experienced or not, Korastrix suffer from fatigue and pain when they shift back into their Calmed state. Breathing fire when one is Feral puts more wear on the body. It is not uncommon to feel groggy or be in pain after being a dragon. If a Feral Korastrix is close to death, they revert back to their Calmed forms.
While Korastrix can shift into a dragon and back, there is no such thing as a half-shift. In other words, a Korastrix in their Calmed state cannot make their nails grow into talons or sprout wings to fly. They would have to become Feral in order to breathe fire and fly.
A Calmed Korastrix and a Feral Korastrix are able to communicate via telepathy. Feral Korastrix communicate with each other the same way, but Calmed Korastrix speak to one another.
Korastrix are omnivores, but they have a natural affinity to meat and prefer it over fruits or vegetables. There are some who like berries more than a nice steak, though.
Korastrix mate the same way and with the same reasons as humans do. Most mate as a display of love—others do so in order to breed or simply for pleasure. They do not mate in their Feral forms; instead, they mate in their Calmed forms and give live birth, much like a mammal. When a female Korastrix becomes pregnant, she is advised not to become Feral as it might harm the child inside of her. The male often sticks close to his mate until the child is born (which is usually after eleven months to a year) and the female can once again shift without causing harm to her child.
Baby Korastrix, called Fledglings or Fletchlings, are encouraged to shift into their Feral forms as soon as they can. This is done in order for them to get experience at an early age.
This species has the lifespan of a normal human.
Old Gods (Not Playable)
Once worshiped as gods during the olden days, Old Gods are now considered to be agents of destruction. They lurk in undergound labyrinths, deep ocean caves, and many miles into mountain ranges.
Daemons (Playable to a Limit)
A type of Korastrix. Not much is known about these creatures. However, it is known that they are incredibly deceptive and dishonest. They usually cause mayhem by framing others for crimes, having an affair with a nobleperson's lover, and more. Daemons are extremely rare and no one is sure of their origin. Some say that they have spawned from the Old Gods themselves.
Daemons are classified by a brand that they have somewhere on their body. It is difficult to see while they are Feral since the mark is the color of their scales. They kept it well hidden in their Calmed state.
Daemons have been known to possess people and cause harm with their new bodies.
Not all Daemons are evil, however. Some actually want to do good in their lives.
There have been Daemon-Korastrix hybrids in the past. These hybrids are called Marked as they have the same brand that a Daemon has, but do not have the powers of a Daemon. They are usually killed upon birth. That is, if anyone finds out what they are in the first place.
Rules
- I am the GM, and what says goes.
- Follow the rules of Iwaku.
- Keep an eye on the tags. There is a reason why it is not 18+. If you want to write out the whole sex scene, do it via PMs.
- Read about the Korastrix before you make one. I don't want to be constantly correcting people who make their character a wyvern or lung shifter when it clearly states that they are western.
- Proper spelling and grammar please.
- This is the OOC and sign-up thread. Forms and chatting go here. The IC thread is here.
- You can make whatever little sideplot you want. You can even make groups of bandits and mercenaries! However, please run it by me so I can approve it.
- I will appoint a co-GM later on. Co-GM is second -in-command.
- Put anime pictures in your character's Calmed state appearance, please. Also, I would prefer it if you put a picture for your character's Feral state as well.
- I would prefer if you posted in your character's scale color. If not, that's fine .
- If you make more than one character and have more than one form to submit, please submit one at a time so I can properly permalink them.
- Put your character's catchphrase in the "other" part of your form.
- Style the form however you'd like, but please keep the fields that I have set. Do not remove any of them.
- Have fun!
