Alaina sighs and leans her chin against her light brown hand, her dark curls rolling over her shoulders as she glances at the cheese shaped clock on the wall. "So," she asks a boy across from her, raising an eyebrow, "What do you think will show up first? Our food or our friends?"

Logan Angus, better known as "Terror" by his friends, leans back in a bright red booth as his bleach blond hair with dark roots flops over his left blind eye. He shrugs and glances toward the checkered tile counter where several staff are hard at work. "I'd guess our friends. This place is pretty busy tonight."

Both friends are seated at a restaurant called the Cheesy Slice, a pizzeria that they and their friends often frequent. The restaurant has plenty of mouse themed decor, including a tiny version of the restaurant's door set up to look like a mouse hole in the wall, a juke box with a fake mouse running inside, and a large animatronic mascot that sings once every hour.

Alaina glances toward the door a few times, huffing a small sigh. "At this rate, neither one is ever going to show up. It's been a whole five minutes already!"

"Where does the time go?" Terror asks with a gentle chuckle. "Relax, Alaina. They'll be here."

"You drive incredibly slow," Jocelyn complained as the car she was in pulled up in front of the Cheesy Slice.

From the driver's seat, Jason put the car into park and then cut the engine before turning to her. "I was driving to cater to the speed limit," he protested, somewhat defensively.

"You were driving under the speed limit."

He threw his hands up in defense. "Well forgive me for wanting to be a little cautious," he muttered, pulling out his keys and then stepping out of the car. He was well aware that they were a little late for dinner with two of their other friends, and he was also very aware that he could be a bit anal when it came to driving -- especially when it came to driving his sister around, mainly because he knew it annoyed the hell out of her.

"Come on, I'm starving," Joey proclaimed as she shut the passenger side door and walked into the seemingly busy restaurant. Her light green eyes wandered till she found the two people she was looking for and a smile lit up her face.

She walked right over, with Jason towering over her from behind, and slid into a booth beside Logan while Jason took the opposite seat, beside Alaina. "Sorry we're late," Joey announced. "Someone thought our road safety was more concerning than hunger."

Terror glances up and smiles as the pair approaches, nodding to acknowledge their arrival.

"How dare he prioritize safety over food?" Alaina asks, slamming a fist dramatically on the table. "Jason of all people should know what happens when you get hungry, Joey. Speaking of . . . the food hasn't arrived yet. It's pretty busy in here."

Terror clears his throat and points. A waitress is striding towards their table, her graying blonde hair pulled up into a bun as she smiles warmly, her eyes crinkling. "How are my favorite customers?" she asks, setting down a tray full of pepperoni pizza, cheese bread, sauce, and soda.

Alaina grins. "Excellent as always, Tiffany. Thanks for asking."

Tiffany bows gracefully and trots off again, leaving the group to chow down in peace. There's almost five minutes of silence among the group as everyone sets to work on the food.

"Hey. Check this out," Terror says suddenly, tossing his head towards the back of the store.

Two shadowy figures pass behind a tinted window, both stooped as though they're carrying something heavy. They pause beneath one of the lamps in the back, peering through the window. Then they walk on.

Alaina raises an eyebrow and stuffs another slice of pizza into her mouth. "There's two guys carrying something behind the store. Why's that interesting?"

Terror taps Joey's shoulder for her to let him out. Then he quietly starts walking toward the exit, waving his hand for the group to follow him. "Because I know all the staff, and they're all in the restaurant. Nobody else would have any business lifting heavy stuff behind the building. Come on, let's go check it out."
