Markopf Andersson
Age: 28
Species: Half Funebraran, Half Human

Appearence:
Take the Quarian suits from mass effect, mix it with physical designs of this [no spike-peenor though, sorry :P]) and this and this. His kind is basically part human and part very-very-highly-evolved-crustaceans-that-look-mostly-humanoid-but-not-that much. He has two skeletons; a flexible inner one, a hard outer one that also is an armour he can remove whenever he wants, via "evocation" (he can regenerate and degenerate it over himself). His face looks like blank human face, only with two luminous yellow eyes somewhat larger than normal human eyes, two smaller ones above it, and a small mouth. He has a six extra "arms" that are actually hidden inside him, evoked and arising from him whenever he needs them to. They are not quite as powerful as his two normal ones, but they are quite handy when it comes to manipulating delicate equipment.

Past:
Born to a Funebraran father and a human mother. Latter was an accountant, former was a sort of technician. They travelled around quite a bit through Trans Space Conglomerate controlled systems, always looking for work and often facing a fair share of persecution due to the father and son's Funebraran-ness. Eventually moved onto the hive ships as that was the only place where they were really accepted by others. He joined the military when he was 17, sympathetic towards the cause of the Funebrarans and wanting to help them find a home after they gave him and his family one. He met a younger Arkoss Schvennson during this time, along with his sister, and for a short while, knew them before their departure to become mercenaries. During the years when Arkoss was gone, he meets Sorvaille and befriends her, becoming quite close to her despite some differences in upbringing, social status, and especially what they both respectively see as what the Funebrarans should try to do; find their ancient home world or just conquer a new one. After Arkoss returns and becomes a Swarm Commander, he promotes both of them and they now serve directly under him as two of his most trusted officers/subordinates.

Personality:
Although he is partially Funebraran, he spent most of his life away from their culture, and as such, comes off as leaning more towards the human part of his heritage. In contrast to various other members of the Funebraran military, he is noticeably less grim and sharp in his attitude, coming off as more casual and loose. Although he has lived among them for a while, he is still not completely adapted to Funebraran culture yet he displays a curiosity of it and willingness to learn about it. He has a good sense of humour and despite his casual nature, he knows when it's time to be the clown and when it is to be a professional soldier. Although he is somewhat troubled when it comes to expressing this, he cares for Sorvaille Tsencszeiv as more than just a good friend and cares deeply for her. He tries to keep this secret, although Arkoss is somewhat aware of it. Sorvaille's particular upbringing and the way she and various other Funebraran females were conditioned makes it somewhat...odd...attempting to start and maintain a romantic relationship of sorts with them. While he knows that she's close to Arkoss, her relationship to Schvensson and the way he generally is with woman gives off the feel that they're not really a pair (at least not anymore) as much as they are simply good friends.

Combat Ability, Skills, And Equipment:
Markopf is an excellent rifleman, often using a high-grade and heavily modified assault rifle with various attachments stuck onto it. He is proficient with various other guns as well; grenade and rocket launchers, plasma cannons, handguns, heavy machine guns, shotguns, shock casters and countless others. He is also good at fixing, sabotaging, and modifying machinery, weapons, robotics and so on, due to his father teaching him quite a few tricks of his trade. Like many Funebraran soldiers, he is quite strong and has fast reflexes. His close-range fighting style tends to put an emphasis on breaking an enemy's guard and driving them back, keeping them backed off. He tends to use a pair of large evocable claw like weapons (similar to these: http://kofler.dot.at/40k/units/Chaos_Marine_Raptor_Lord_with_Lightning_Claws.jpg) as his main C.Q.C. weapons, although even if he's unarmed, he can still do a lot of damage. His bio-synthetic armour is quite tough and can take more punishment than the average trooper's, although it's not up to the same level of defensive capability as say, the armour used by larger, more juggernaut-esque soldiers. He tends to carry around some remote/timed charges, grenades, throwing knives, scanners (often used to detect things his suit's HUD cannot) an a few other smaller weapons and equipment.

Sorvaille "Soreiv" Tsencszeiv
Age: 24
Species: Funebraran (In particular, a sort of mantis/moth/lacewing/may-fly/rove beetle like species)

Appearence:
Thin exoskeleton, almost looking like some thin yet flexible suit of bio-organic armour, put over a somewhat feminine form. This "armour" seems somewhat jagged, with a few harsh, sharp pointy bits and a sort of half scorpion, half praying mantis motif running through its design. She herself has a very "smooth" appearence though; her physical form seems free of a lot of the harsh spiky shapes of her bio-armour and has a very lithe, formal appearence to herself. Her two eyes are green. She has a pair of extra arms hidden within herself, which look very sharp.

Biography:
She came from a very respected, prestigious and wealthy family, but also a family genuinely dedicated to finding the supposed ancient home world(s) of the Funebraran people. Although she grew up highly privileged, neither she nor her family were sheltered from the harsh reality of life among the hive ships and how they were seen amongst the rest of the galaxy. Conditioned since an early age to be independent, aware, and headstrong, as well as to master her genetically inherited energy manipulation abilities, she was already quite formidable by the time she decided to join the military, as well as having a reputation for being a very attractive if very sharp woman. It is there she met Arkoss and Markopf, and befriended the two. After Arkoss' return, she and Markopf got promoted and serve directly under him as his subordinates.


Personality:
Sorvaille carries herself around with an air of power and confidence. She comes off as a very well educated, cultured, and incredibly sharp person, yet she does not go around snubbing others or being snobby. When she's interested in something, often along the lines of politics, conflict, belief and other things heavily related to the Funebraran cause, she will usually become quite passionate and this can often turn into arguments or just very long discussions. Despite her dedication to the cause, she often harbours secret fears of not being able to live up to her family's goals and dreams and sometimes really wonders if that which she feels is a great weight on her proverbial shoulders is too much for her. There is a more traditionally womanly side to herself, although she usually does not have many others to relate with as a female. To the others though, she's seen as a sort of relief for them; something very beautiful amongst legions of ugly bastards. It's said that she believes that she helps the rest when she provides her...more private services as a female rather than as a commander. Most of her relationships are short with a few longer ones here and there, although she has a fair share of close friends. She does like Markopf as a friend, and is somewhat aware of his love for her, although due to how she was raised and her supposedly promiscuous side, is not really sure how to respond to it. While she's quite friendly with Arkoss and it is believed their relationship has been "closer" in the past, there is nothing concrete to suggest that they're really lovers as much as simply close friends...at least nothing that hasn't been revealed yet.


Combat Ability, Skills, and Equipment:
Tsencszeiv is an incredibly powerful energy user or in slang terms, "caster". She can use the energy of the otherworld, a sort of sub-realm of existence, to devastate her enemies in various ways. Her attacks could include massive blasts of energy, evoking "storms" of energy, generating massive shockwaves, and sometimes even summoning the strange entities that inhabit that world to fight alongside her. She can also use them for defensive purposes, such as generating energy shields (over herself and others), enhancing the combat abilities of herself and others, creating barriers, or even healing. She wields a staff usually made of rare materials and enhanced with electronics, which can also double as a deadly melee weapon, by itself and with her energy running through it. She also has access to rounds, throwing knives, explosives and so on that she can tamper with or are receptive to her caster abilities, allowing her to, for example, turn a throwing knife embedded in some poor sap into a gateway for otherworldy energies to bleed into ours and cause destruction on her enemies. Her CQC fighting style, armed and unarmed isn't quite as harsh and savage looking as some other characters; it is quite elegant and puts an emphasis on keeping a distance between her and her enemies. She is also an expert at using weapons like pistols, sub-machine guns, and shotguns with one arm (and sometimes with her two extra arms).

For those of you wondering when the combat and violence starts, next chapter. This one is basically meant to be a sort of "who is everyone?" chapter; introduce your characters, give us a general idea of who they area, and then we can end the chapter soon after that. We won't necessarily need to introduce everyone, but just enough to give us a generally solid foundation of the characters driving this forward.

Chapter 2's gonna start with a bang and a something dying very horribly, by the way.

I can imagine Arkoss might bump into Taxus when going to check out what's with the floating man outside, and then the three (Arkoss, Taxus, and Claire) can perhaps give the man a greeting.
