Sleeping Beauty, Waking Nightmare

Name: Laila Snowlake

Appearance:137433817-1.jpg At 5'6, with a curvy build, and no hints of age showing on her form just yet, it's hard to tell how old this woman is.

History: A woman of few words, but a scathing tongue, this witch has made a few mistakes in the past. Not quite evil, though by no means is she a white witch. She has been trained from a young age by an old crone of a woman, who sought a predecessor. Some say the crone of a woman is still heard bickering and shrieking in her little shack, even though she's been confirmed to be dead for two or three years. The girl-made-witch left the shack as soon as she had paid her respects to the witch who raised and taught her, and has been traveling, searching for a new home, while lugging all her equipment along with herself. And, seeing how most of it's heavy, her travels have been slow.

Weapons, Equiptment and Magic: ade7_handmade_deluxe_magic_wand2.jpg, a couple cauldrons, various vials and jars of ingredients, small parcels of food, OH, and Brittlewort, her little owl, whose sarcastic hoots always come before some magical disaster that is inevitably her fault. She's good at some spells, like, making someone unable to speak... or... switch someone's hands with their feet, She's REALLY good at conjuring up storms and rain, though they can get out of hand. She can make flowers bloom, but they wither and die shortly after. She's a well-taught witch, but as far as applying what she was taught, she's still a little iffy sometimes.

Character sheet will be up soon, hopefully. Grumpy and I got held up plotting because he can't use Skype right now, but we've gotten through some initial stuff so it shouldn't be long now.

Teeks, I hope you don't mind, but I will be borrowing your character for a tiny bit of the intro. ^-^

It took to him well and his skills are very well honed. There were a couple of incidences between him and a certain baker's daughter that inclined the church to send out on indefinite missions. They frequently let him wander through the land helping the people. Thankfully, that is how Abvon prefers to do his work.

This is gonna be AWESOME!

I would like to be a dark Fae.

Name: Charlotte Drake

Age: 19

Looks: http://vaniepoyey.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/BT_165_Blog.jpg

Personality: She is quiet, dark, has a secret that she has kept to herself for years, very edgy, friendly (secretly)

Gender: Female

History: The girl was born to a fairy of the springtime, and a human father. Her mother was a rebel and never thought that the law of Fairy Secrecy ( a law put in place by the fairy counsel stating that if a fairy mates with a human their child will immediatly be cursed as a dark fae) would actually curse her daughter, so when it did she left her on the doorstep of Laila Snowlake. Laila took her in even though she was only a few years older. So Charlotte's secret is that Laila is not really her mother (yeah not much of a secret but ya know)

Weapons: She has whatever powers a dark Fae would have and then she has a dagger and her own personal power of being able to control some nature (from her mother being a fairy of nature)

Random: Charlotte's mother is one of the Princesses fairies ( She got herself together and went to school, she is Fiona).

Hi, Music,

I see you are new to Iwaku and I understand probably a bit nervous. There's some things about your sheet that we need to go over.

I know you didn't intend to, but you've modified and used another player's character without their permission. It is polite to ask first and respect their decision. In this case, Hydronine had a very specific character she was going for that just doesn't fit with what you've said.

Next, I need to talk to you about setting and tone. Much of your sheet doesn't work with the setting we are going for or the tone, which is mildly Grimdark. You also add significant things to the lore which is already somewhat established. Faerie lore is a very researchable thing. Fae who were born to human parents were not exiled to the other court (Seelie to Unseelie or vice versa) but exiled altogether to humanity unless they displayed remarkable talent. (There are some exceptions, but these are generally planned and not accidental, and in this case, the child is still just given to humans.) While they might be left as foundlings for other humans, they would also likely have all their magic bound.

The faeries that blessed the princess weren't really nature faeries in a basic sense, they were Seelie nobles in this case. (If you are ever unsure of something in the setting, feel free to ask me.) To have a child or even be pregnant would have been noticed and that fae probably cast out of her nobility. So keep in mind that if you do choose one of the noble fae, they won't be noble anymore and that is fine. If can open whole new complexities. It would be much better to have it be her father who was fae if you wish to have the story of rank stripping occur now as opposed to later.

I'd like to ask you to redo your sheet and run your ideas by me, first. I might be able to give you some insight into the tone and setting.

Thank you!

Name: Sonia

Appearance:
Bird:
Mockingbird5.jpg
Human:
Sonia.png

Her human form looks about seventeen years old, standing 4'7", has short messy black hair and dark crimson eyes. Imagine more period-appropriate clothing.

Personality: Sonia is generally happy and energetic, easy to please and wearing a near-constant smile. She's highly inquisitive and feels great satisfaction from learning almost anything. More than anything, Sonia is loyal to the core and lives to please her friends, doing everything she can to keep them safe and happy.

History: Sonia began her life as an ordinary mockingbird, living an ordinary mockingbird life in the forest. However one day an important member of the Seelie court was traveling alone and was headed straight into an ambush set by the dark fae. As the would-be assassins crept up behind the unsuspecting elf, a mockingbird in a nearby tree burst loudly into song, startling the court member. When he searched for the source of the sudden racket, he discovered the assassins approaching him and was able to defend himself. Grateful to the bird (who of course had no idea what she was doing, lacking the necessary cognitive functions to want to save a life) he bestowed upon her three gifts. Firstly, he gave her long life and intelligence, enough to rival a human scholar. Secondly, he gave her the ability to change her form into the shape of a human, as well as knowledge of the human and elf languages. Finally, he gave her weak elemental magic to control air, enough to summon a strong gust or a small whirlwind.

With her new-found self-awareness, the mockingbird immediately felt she needed a purpose. So, as she was thankful for these gifts, she asked the court member if she could be of service in any way. He took her with him to the Seelie court, and the spirited young bird was put into service of the rangers of the bright fae, using her natural form and heightened animal senses to perform scouting missions and gather information on all manners of subjects. During her service of the rangers she was taught basic combat as well as use of her magical gifts. She lived happily in this way for nearly a decade, before a new purpose was given to her. She was to be the protector and companion of a human child who was apparently important to the court. She was overjoyed to be given a way to serve the court as only she could, and went to the girl with great vigor.

Weapons and Magic:
Sonia is most proficient in the use of knives, both in close-range combat and throwing. In her human form she wears a single leather belt holding twenty throwing knives across her torso, and well as a larger dagger strapped to each thigh.
Both in her bird and human forms she has the ability to manipulate air, such as creating gusts or changing wind direction.

(Sorry it took me so long, I couldn't decide exactly how I wanted to do the character)

ok, sorry I didn't really realize it would be a problem :err:. How about this time you let ME know what you need for this roleplay and I will try to fit that character.

So here is how I am seeing the beginning come together. Pyra, Ashur, and soon after that, Sonia, will prepare to set off. Then Clarence will find them. The princes and Dolohvan can join in when they see a good point and when the princes have their sheets up. Laila can react to the prompt I am going to give her how she sees fit. Ceru, we will figure out how to work your guy in, ASAP. I have an idea, so just sit tight for a few rounds. Ocha, as soon as your lady is ready, feel free to find us in the wherever we are at the time.

A warning. We're going to start off with almost immediate combat, as fast as we can get to it. As soon as Pyra, Ashur, and Clarence are all together. Anyone who wants to NOT be injured in the first chapter, lemme know now, cause it is going to get brutal fast.

What about my character? What can I do?

Music, hrm. I want you to play something you'd like, so why don't you give me a few five or six word concepts that you might want to build on. Things like "Former Knight of the Realm" or "Like Little Red Riding Hood". We can pick one and work on what you'd like to do!

well I was hoping I could be part of the Dark Fae.

So you wish to play an evil character, then?

Okay, so here are some questions:

1) Combat or magic specialist?
2) Lone enemy or part of a group?
3) High or low ranking?
4) Male or female?

definitly combat
part of a group
high ranking
female

Hello, Miss Music! I will try to swoop in since I'm helping Miss Revi and hope that she doesn't mind the intrusion much.
There's nothing inherently wrong with your idea and Revi gave constructive criticism that I myself would have also mentioned.
We don't have any more "necessary" niches that need filled here, but we are open to new plot twists and such, which is where you come in!
If you revise your sheet with the points she outlined in mind, you will probably keep the same feel without having to alter your idea too much.
For the bit on using TK's character, you can always ask other players if they would like to collaborate on a character with you and if she agrees, then that's awesome! If it doesn't fit her idea for her character, you can always put an NPC into the role and alter it however you like.

If you choose to ingratiate yourself with fae customs and laws, we're using classic predefined knowledge of this, which can be difficult if you don't know already but is highly learnable. We're happy to help providing constructive tips so don't be afraid to revise!

(More posts since I started my typing, curse it Revi! <3 Making an all-new character is also doable and if you choose to do that, might be easier than revising depending on what you want).
