In general, Jace is a laid-back kind of guy, even if his demeanor doesn't say so. He is a free spirit who doesn't like to be tied down to any one thing for too long. Jace welcomes adventure and change with open arms and optimism. This restless nature sometimes causes him to act carelessly or irresponsibly. He is honest and good-humored; however, his sense of humor can be obscure in places. He has the tendency to speak his mind without entirely thinking his words through, which at times may lead him to say something hurtful, albeit unintentionally. This is just part of his straightforwardness; what he says is what he means. Those who are close to him know that he doesn't mean anything by it. When it comes to those who are close, like friends and family, Jace will do anything and everything in his power to help.
Jace is a native of Bellwoods Hollow, and in more ways than one. His family comes from a long line of Native Americans that has lived there for generations. The Yancy house sits on a sizeable plot of land just on the outskirts of town. Jace lives with his parents, older sister, and grandmother on his father's side. He is an undergraduate student with a major in forestry and wildlife technology. His sister, Nita, is four years his senior and is a graduate law student at the university. Growing up, Jace heard many different stories about the woods. The tales always came up at sleepovers, spoken into a flashlight in a dark room. Games were played to see how close to the woods a kid could get before chickening out or getting caught. Jace's grandmother told him that there was an evil spirit that lurked in the woods, waiting to lure unsuspecting victims to their deaths. It was arguably the enigma that is the forest in Bellwoods that made Jace decide to pursue forestry and wildlife.
A young man with a borderline unhealthy fascination with death. He devours books, blogs, news articles, documentaries and even TV series on serial killers and bizarre murders faster than Ethan can guzzle a liter milk. His college bedroom (his half of the room) even has an outline of a dead person made from yellow tape! Talk about dedication to his lifelong dream of becoming a forensic pathologist. Underlying this bizarre obsession is actually a genuine desire to make the world a safer place by putting the guilty behind bars.
As weird as he sounds given his preoccupation with homicide, Kindall is actually very ordinary. He is nothing more than an overachieving nerd who happened to be really good at sports. This combination of athleticism and smarts might have made him more popular than he already is if he wasn't so sarcastic. He tends to hold back just enough to avoid coming across as obnoxious but his family and closest friends have fallen victim to his barbs more times than they care to remember.
