Shintaion Resistance

"C'mon boss can't we hang with the cool beasts guys?" Cyrus asked pleading as he could really use some relaxation. "Yeah boss we could use a break" Estelle agreed as she talked through her armour. "I suppose not making an official report until morning wouldn't hurt so why not!" Jericho said with a grin adding to the fact why Cyrus and Estelle have always liked Jericho.
Estelle then exited her armour as she set it down in a space reserved for them outside the hotel. "Please lead the way to the nearest relaxation." Jericho stated smiling.

"Well then. Perhaps a compromise is what we should go with...I really do want to know who this guy is...I suppose my cellphone's internet will have to do for now then.."Ramia sighed as she pulled out her cell phone. Monsoon laughed as he said calmly to Ramia,"Ok, Ok Ramia. I'm sorry I know you want to focus on getting the business done before we have any sort of fun. But I really don't think it'll be that simple. If this guy was listed on the internet, he'd probably be a target of the government already. Well, I know it'll make you feel better so go for it but don't totally zone out here. We gotta repay our new friends here. Can't be anti-social ya know. Think we can stop by the hotel's bar and restaurant. Much smarter than going up to the hotel room anyhow." Ramia acknowledged what Monsoon said, nodding her head.

Monsoon then said to the Black Crows, "Heh..We ate kinda recently, but eh maybe something small would be nice. I'll buy it all, food and drinks. Still got some money from that last job we took, they paid nicely seeing as it was a matter of national security, some crazy trying to give information on military bases to the dark beasts. Follow me, it's over this way."Monsoon and Ramia led the way.

This hotel's restaurant, wasn't all that fancy but it as considered rather nice. They specialized in some of the best pasta and pizza on the continent. The bar wasn't as well known, it wasn't as renowned. The lines were somewhat long but they allowed Monsoon to skip it upon seeing his ID and recognizing his last name. They were quickly led to a table and were seated.

Ramia fiddled with her phone trying to find information on Amon Ra and tried to stir up a bit of a conversation as they all were seated,"Well...Maybe the best thing to do is to share a little about myself first.. I'm from Shrivisk. I always was big on fighting more than anything else. I used to be a vigilante over there but my family kept pressuring me to become a mercenary as it was more safe and more legally sanctioned. But I kind of liked it, you worked more outside of the law, too often the criminals in question get away or exploit loopholes you know."

She continued, "My parents never wanted me to be a fighter though but the business and science world just didn't interest me as much. Besides, I found out as a child I was found at a strange place said to be a gateway to the Underworld. I needed to get money quick to have some people research the gates so I could figure out where mine led to exactly. Being a mercenary seemed to be faster, much faster than trying to spend countless years at a university learning things that didn't interest or appeal to me. I met Monsoon here and we formed our own small Mercenary Company, Flint Griffith Hunters. With the dark beasts though...It's not safe to research the gates.. That's one reason why I am willing to fight them."She then looked down on her phone and discovered it finally loaded the page.

"Eh? What's up Ramia? You look a bit out of it."Monsoon questioned. Ramia responded, saying to Monsoon and the Black Crows, "Amon Ra, the name of the son of Hector and Lydia Ra....His parents were once great heroes in the Teros military. Hector was a master of thunder energy and dubbed the Thunder Reaper due to record breaking amount of registered kills during the conflict aganist Lavion. Lydia was a legendary healer known as Golden Maiden, her healing skills were unparalleled and saved countless fighters. Her light energy was quite formidable as well."

She resumed reading off from her phone, "The two of them were lovers well before the conflict. They had a son named Amon Ra years before the war. During the battles however, the two came to realize the battles were senseless. The war couldn't be won with just them alone, they couldn't overcome Lavion's defenses fully. They eventually renounced the Teros military and the war, deserting them. Hoping to leave the country and live with their son in peace instead. Teros could not allow this, Hector was killed by some of their forces. Lydia and Amon were the next targets. They were killed by a squad of Armours."

"But wait..there's a bit more. The Ra family, the greatest and most notorious forbidden beast family upon hearing news of this treachery distanced themselves from Hector and Lydia, disowning them and decrying their actions. Neither the couple nor their son received a funeral....That's all there is..."

"Who wrote that article anyhow? Just some anonymous person? That's no good. Amon is no ghost. This guy didn't get the facts straight. He must have survived. But what kind of thunder beast can survive Armour attacks? That's not possible.. He doesn't sound like he has any signs of dark beast roots either. Even with dark beast blood, there's no way he could use dark energy being born from a thunder and a light beast. I don't like this, not one bit Ramia. It's a shame we're probably going to have to leave soon, it's going to be impossible to investigate all this once we're off fighting in the war. I don't know what else we can do. Just hope the government can find him once we report him."Monsoon looked rather serious.

Before much else could be said, the waiter arrived. "Sorry for the wait. Sorry to break up whatever was going on here... May I take your orders this fine evening?" Monsoon quickly grabbed the menu and began scouring it, as did Ramia.

"Uhhh. Can you give us a bit more time here? I think we all need some to decide, we got distracted. I'm sorry."The waiter nodded as he took off.

Monsoon said to the Black Wings,"Yeah...Maybe it's best to change the subject for now.Gotta enjoy this night, might be the last free night me and Ramia will have for a while. Heh. Yeah.. I can't say I enjoy my past or look back on it fondly. Yet I miss my hometown, I can't go back there now since Shintaion got invaded by those damn dark beasts. They probably leveled the place knowing how destructive they can be."

He then shook his head and suggested, "That's not much better. Maybe you guys could tell us about yourselves..I just don't wanna bring down the mood with my stories. We're here to relax after all that craziness, not to mope about ya know."He then began looking at the menu a bit more, awaiting a response.

Once they were in safety Shi started to breath heavily to recuperate from his run. He then heard the question, a most obvious one. "Wanted? Well I'm probably now wanted for beating the snot out of my detention officer. But before that, well let's say it is pretty hard to comprehend-"
"Events leading up to our departure of Nostrian Tower 1 were not incomprehensible. Simply the temporal dampeners went critical and the machinery used to support the towers no longer had a safety field over their operating systems. With it gone temporal disturbances started to show up and as each closed a large explosion was created. The largest of which was concentrated in the main office of President Killard. The only option was to travel through a disturbance at a 12% survivability risk." X38 filled in the details.
"Yeah, thanks X38." Shi muttered sarcastically. "Either way I had no money then and I have no money now, so getting things to eat was top priority. Got caught after several goes and they locked me up in that prison." Shi then heard the footsteps of some person outside.

"Where are you, you jerk?" She said as Shi looked down. "Hmm I thought we lost them all." Shi clutched the orb in his pocket knowing it was only a matter of time before they were now found in this building. He now revealed what he truly was. Bat-like wings sprang forth from his back and claws formed on his hands. Meanwhile his teeth grew vicious fangs and his stature grew a few feet. He burst through the window, in his full demon form and landed in front of Melissa. "If you don't want to get hurt, got back and tell your superiors you lost Shi."

"Then I regret to inform you our story isn't of the light of heart either. Let's see where should we begin..." Jericho said as he thought back to when they all met. "I was a colonel in the military back when the war was on Teros. Cyrus and Estelle were assigned under my command, as they were the best at what they did. Not to forget we had one more member of our team at that point. Her name was Annabell and she was a tech specialist that was key to our mission on Teros, as she knew everything about the technology present there.
It had been two years into the war on Teros that we had been together and as such had gotten to know each other very well, and might as well have been family. So about two years into the war we were given a mission to retrieve a piece of technology that could if incorporated right defeat the dark beasts permanently. So far the mission had gone smoothly without too many hiccups and everything seemed about right.
Estelle was on point I was support for her and Cyrus was backing both of us up, Annabell being between us. We reached the door in which the technology was located and Annabell got onto cracking the code to get in. Then without warning we were swarmed by dark beasts from every side as if they were waiting for us to do what they could not. Annabell barely cracked the code in time and we got in with a horde of dark beasts behind us. Annabell disappeared to go find the technology while we fought off the beasts. All seemed lost as we couldn't contact her and thought she may have been killed in the frenzy. Then it was as if the entire room came alive and destroyed all of the dark beasts sparing us.
We never found her after that battle, she's considered MIA and we didn't get the technology that we were sent to get. When we returned to base empty handed we were blamed for the loss of countless lives at the hands of the dark beasts even though we had only just failed that mission. Thus, we were court martialed, and eventually dishonorably discharged.
We couldn't give up not knowing what happened on that day though so we formed Black Crow and have been doing jobs for hire trying to find out whatever information we can on Teros."
Jericho said with a thankful sigh that the story was over.

"On a lighter note anything look appetizing?"
Jericho said with a smile trying to change the atmosphere.

Ramia looked a bit melancholic after hearing the story."Wow..That is awful. Someone should have heard you out or tried to listen to you, it wasn't your fault."Ramia commented simply.

Monsoon wasn't happy to hear it either. He told em,"Sorry for bringing that up. I agree with Ramia. It's not right for a government to try to blame people whom were trying to do something for the good of everyone like that...Wish it could be changed but..Can't change the past. I know that all too well."Monsoon sighed as he thought about what happened to his mother and his father. He wasn't going to share those stories just yet, he didn't want to make the evening a total downer for everyone, it was supposed to be a happy occasion.

He then shifted gears as he spoke of the menu to Jericho and the others,"Well. This place specializes in Pasta and Pizza mostly. Got some good soups as well. Personally, I like the Chicken Alfredo. Real tasty sauce they use with it. Think that's what I'm gonna get..."Ramia added, "That's not my favorite..I'm going with the Minestrone, extra heated of course! I wouldn't want it getting cold anytime soon."She looked rather enthusiastic about it. Fire beasts enjoyed the hottest food after all, such things could not burn their tongues, gums or mouths so they could eat hot food almost instantly if they choose.

"Eh..Not my thing..Of course you're a fire beast so you love hot food like that. Heh. Not my thing, I'd have to wait for it to cool and stir it, too high maintenance for me."He awaited the waiter as he tried to think of pleasant things to talk about. It then came to him as he remembered one of the more interesting things that happened.

Monsoon then told them,"Don't think we mentioned this but...We ran into the President at the recruitment office today. Man it was crazy, I was totally off guard. She really knows what she's doing though, that's my impression of seeing her in person. Pretty gutsy too, either those bodyguards were hidden well or she didn't have any with her at the time."

Just then the waiter returned, "Are you all ready this time? May I take your orders now?" Ramia looked over to the others and said, "I think we're ready, right everyone?"Monsoon nodded showing he was was ready. She awaited a response from the others however.

Melissa jumped back as a now demonic Shi descended on her location, demanding that she tell her superiors she lost him. For once, she smiled and looked back at the soldiers coming their way.

"My superiors? You mean those idiots? Ugh, I couldn't care less about them, you understand me?"

With that, she quickly spun around, light emerging from her anklets and bracelets at the same time, until she let out a small grunt of effort, letting loose a nicely sized wall, smacking the incoming group aside. Afterwards, she turned around again, her smirk gone as she glared at him again.

"There, happy? Now that those idiots are gone, I'm gonna beat....your....ass...DOWN!"

A visible yellow blade shot forth from the bracelet on her left arm, extending past her fingers. She waited to see if he was ready.

"Yes I think we are" Jericho said pleasantly, "I'll have the-" then he was abruptly cut off by Cyrus who said in a loud manner "GIVE ME PASTA!!!!" in which he was soon after smacked into the table by Estelle causing a slight tremor to ripple through it, disturbing only temporarily. "Shut up Cyrus! Sorry about that waiter sir, he can be a bit impulsive a times" Estelle said trying to grin away the embarrassment. "Ah yes then I'll have the Frontega Chicken Pasta, and what is it you want Estelle?" Jericho asked. "Marinara is fine!" she replied quickly caught off guard though she wasn't that hungry anyways. "Now Cyrus what would you like?" Jericho asked grinning. Cyrus was now on the floor i na squat pushing his fingers together mumbling to himself "I was just hungry and couldn't contain myself...pasta pasta pasta". "Alright just bring the biggest dish you have that wouldn't kill a human through consumption" he said to the waiter smiling.
"What is it you two are getting?"

Monsoon responded,"Gonna have to go with the classic Chicken Alfredo." Ramia answered as well, "Minestrone, extra heated please."The waiter said then, "Ok then, I have got all your orders now..Including the biggest dish of the house for the lively gentleman. I'll start you off with a couple of waters here as well." He went over to get some cups. He filled them up and gave everyone cups of water and then left. The waiter didn't impress Monsoon or Ramia but at least he seemed flexible.

Ramia's phone began to ring as she said to the others,"Excuse me, let me get this here and I'll be right back.." She left the table and stepped outside the restaurant so she could hear better. "Wow..I wonder if that's the army or whoever, the president said we'd get a call once our unit was ready..Maybe it's complete..Damn...That'd suck to have to leave now.. I want to enjoy my last night of freedom before shipping off to fight those dark beasts."Monsoon said to the others, looking somewhat nervous. He wasn't quite ready yet.

"Hello? Who is this? I don't get Restricted number calls often..Is our unit ready?" Ramia answered the phone. An older sounding rude voice said to Ramia,"Oh screw me! This isn't Monsoon is it? Unless he overdosed on estrogen. Listen, you guys got that package I sent, right? RIGHT? I heard it was signed for and everything or so that delivery person said..." Ramia had no idea what he was talking about, "No but may I ask who are you once more?". The voice sighed, "Oh isn't this just precious. Listen, you got duped it sounds like. Some asshole created a diversion, meanwhile the ring leader gets into the hotel room, waits and forges Monsoon's signature and takes the damn prize. Am I right?"

"That's true.. That's why Amon Ra attacked us..But how did you know it happened?" The voice on the other end seemed upset as he heard that name, "Amon Ra? You lucky bastards survived huh? That's a first..Whoever's behind this must have been damn good to make Amon serve him like that. It's not his style to work with others. He rather kill everything and everyone he can, dark beasts, humans, elves, demons, even forbidden beasts. It's crazy to think he's working with someone for once in his life."

The voice continued, "Listen, keep your firey red ass away from that man, he's a killer, Ramia. That goes for Monsoon too and anyone else involved. Now you see, the government of Teroes tried to cover it up and say they killed him years ago but that's just a full tub of bullshit. Lying politicians trying to prevent panic or fear amongst the people. He massacred all the Armours sent to kill him and his mother. No survivors. They pushed him too far that day, they drove him to madness, they awakened a--God dammit. I've got some company!Of course they'd come after me too."

Ramia heard noise of glass being shattered on the other end and shouting. "Where are you? Do you need help? I can call some emergen-" The voice responded to her, "Thanks Ramia, you're kind woman, just what Monsoon needs you know....But HELL NO! I'll handle this myself. Don't you worry about me. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow before you ship out, maybe even in person and answer everything on your mind. Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna blow some holes through these intruders, clean up what's left of them off my shiny new floor, finish this bottle of whiskey and call it a night! Bye!" With that, the phone on the other side was slammed down and hung up.

Looking rather worried, she made her way back to the table. She told the others, "I had..a real strange call. It wasn't anyone I knew..But he seemed to know Monsoon..And a lot about what's going on..He was an older man, spoke really bluntly and had a thing for swearing like a sailor. Someone attacked him and he hung up, he wouldn't tell me where he was or who he was. He even mentioned a package being delivered to us supposedly but...I don't understand what it was supposed to be and why he sent it."

"I don't know. I don't remember anyone like that. Don't think I'm forgetting anyone...Meh. Well sorry Ramia. Sounds like one crazy dude to me." Monsoon said honestly as he tried to think anyone he met in his life that fit the description.

She sighed as Ramia said,"I just wish this could have been a more regular night.. I can't call him back or trace him now since he called from a Restricted Number...There's just too much going on and none of it makes sense. We might not even be able to resolve it all if we get shipped out to fight the dark beasts.."

Trying to change up the mood however and get her mind off it for now, Ramia asked Jericho, Estelle and Cyrus, "What are your plans for the future anyhow, are you going to continue working as mercenaries? I almost wanted to do that myself...But the dark beasts are taking it too far and the only way for me to learn about myself is for them to be defeated..You guys seem real good at what you do though...Just the type of people they'd want to be fighting the dark beasts.." She didn't intend to try to recruit them, it was more of a friendly suggestion. Ramia respected them yet she also knew they might not trust the government at the same time.

"That is an interesting proposition Ramia, it is something we might consider it all depends on the circumstances surrounding the job though. We would rather not get involved in the military unless they would hire us as mercenaries. We would rather not have to go through the ordeal we went through again. I'm sure you understand where we are coming from after our story." Jericho paused momentarily and looked over at Estelle and Cyrus and they nodded in approval that Jericho voiced their opinions well. "Where might we find this place you speak of?" Jericho asked Ramia.
"And if I may ask if you have ties to the Underworld are you that curious that you are willing to risk extremely dangerous encounters to find out the information you seek?"

Ramia responded,"Yes I understand. Well, the Recruitment Office is actually kind of close by, just got a bit north from this hotel and you should find it. It'll stand out....They want to attract people's attention after all as they need all the people they can get for the war effort. They should be able to hire you just as they hired us."She then added, "Yes. I am willing to do it. I want to know why I was abandoned as a child up here, I want to know just who my real parents were. It's important enough to me. I won't rest until I find out the truth. Even if I'm related to...those horrible dark beasts, I have to find out. Knowing I'm not related to them would make me happy."

Monsoon supported what Ramia said,"Yeah. If I was in a situation like that, I'd want to know too. I'm glad I know who I'm descended from..Some of the greatest wind beast fighters in modern times. It's good to know you heritage. Not knowing would bother me too."However, he didn't touch on the possibility of Ramia being related to a dark beast, as he knew it would be a rather negative thing to say and was definitely something she didn't want to think about. It would ruin her, her adopted family could even disown her, Monsoon knew this and did not speak of it.

It seemed Monsoon was still trying to figure out who called Ramia as he thought to himself, "Man. Who could it have been? An old family friend who knew me, maybe? Someone so old I don't remember them and haven't seen them in years...One of dad's friends maybe. Of course..But who?? Man I can't remember how they sounded.."

The waiter then arrived with the food and gave everyone their respective meal. Before leaving he simply said,"Enjoy!"

Looking rather excited and less serious Ramia exclaimed,"Allright!!!!!It's here! Well, I don't want to be rude though." She held off on going after the soup like a madwoman for now and instead began to deal with it rather slowly, so she could talk and respond to the others.

Monsoon followed her example, also taking it easy, although he wasn't very hungry. He commented,"Eh, this stuff is decent. Not bad for the price, not at all. Hope your stuff is good too guys. Either way, this is a good way to spend the rest of this free day. No chasing down marks, no nut jobs trying to kill us, just good food and good people."

Shi's secondary form seemed to be enraged by the lady's taunts. With the guards gone and still someone provoking him there was nothing to hold him back. "A lot of talk from a little girl like you." Shi went in with blinding speed with a punch to the stomach. Right before it landed he regained slight control but not enough to stop his attack. The fist went right into her gut. As she was knocked backwards he caught her kneeling down to reduce the speed of her fall. "Come on please, wake up."

Melissa had no way to defend against the sudden hook to her stomach, letting out a huge breath as she was knocked back a few feet, creating dust as she made contact with the ground. She managed to keep herself from falling, using a small blade from the sun to dig into the earth, falling to one knee at the end, gasping to regain the air he had knocked out of her so effectively.

"Guh...I'm...gonna....this isn't....ugh....done yet...."

Out of sheer stubborness and adrenaline, Melissa manged to bring herself up, four mid-range blades forming above each of her fingers, like some kind of twisted glove. Her other hand remained in a fist, and she began a reckless charge to injure Shi, despite the fact that she didn't have much fight left in her.

Shi was caught off guard as he tried to dodge, barley rolling out of the way in time."I can't believe you want to fight still. You've left me with no choice."Shi once again grabbed hold of the orb.

It took effect as he changed once more, becoming stronger yet losing control. "I gave you a chance to run away and then I gave you a chance to quit. I'm ending this now." He outspend Melissa and rapidly kicked her right kneecap, each blow painful. With the final blow sounding nearly bone crushing as Shi landed it.

Melissa now seemed to be in a good deal of pain and less mobile now. Shi walked towards her with his other form still in control."Now. I'll give you one final chance. Give up on fighting and chasing me. You can't win this fight, you must realize it. Now we must get going."With that he turned his back to Melissa, assuming she would give up this time.

As Shi turned his back on her, Melissa readied another attack. She wasn't going to quit at all. This time Shi wasn't going to see it coming either and she intended to finish him off with one single strike. Her bracelet began to resonate. In her left hand she formed a thin blade of light. In her right hand, another blade formed, thinner than the last, it formed from her bracelet to her middle finger. Finally, she used her bracelet to rocket off towards Shi she yelled at him,"YOU DUMBASS! Didn't you ever learn? Never turn your back to your enemies! You really think I'm that weak to go out like that?!"

Shi wasn't able to dodge the entire attack but he most dangerous blade in her middle finger missed but the other hand managed to cut him. He slapped Melissa shortly after, ending her assault before she could try to use the blades again.

This attack enraged him greatly as he had shown her so much mercy and given her so many chances to surrender and leave him alone. "Didn't you ever learn to quit, stupid girl!!!! Now you've done it!!! I have no intention of adding murder to the list of crimes I'm wanted for...However, you are making this impossible to resolve pleasantly! I have to get out of here! I don't have time to fight you! Just walk away and never bother me again!"

"Stupid huh? This coming from you? Listen, I'm going to repay you for all the damage you did to me! I didn't need your pity. I almost finished you off with that last strike! This fight is far from over, get ready for round two! Don't worry, it'll be over for you real fast since you pissed me off!"Melissa was angry as well, also somewhat re-energized although moving quickly wasn't going to be easy now. She was still hurt and still not in the best condition to be fighting yet she refused to quit.

Shi's alternate form was in control still. He glared at Melissa, his eyes filled with anger. He moved slowly towards her. "I think not. I am tired of this. You're weak, you can't win! This is suicidal, it's as if you want to suffer extreme pain and serious injury! Since that's the case, I won't hold back this time!Your pig headed attitude will be the death of you!"Melissa propelled herself again with her bracelet to put some distance between herself and Shi as she readied her next attack.

It seemed there wasn't enough time as Shi ran towards her, intending to finish her off, no longer holding back or showing any mercy. Something horrible was about to happen yet Melissa wasn't about to back down from it....

After several somewhat silent minutes had passed the group paid for their bills and parted ways for the time being. (It would have been completely silent if Cyrus hadn't acted like a pig when eating, but his manners are a different story.) Black Crow made their way north towards the recruitment office to take a look around and see how much they were willing to pay for their services.
"Wow this place is massive!" exclaimed Estelle as she stared at the enormous structure they were about to walk into. They entered the building and Estelle parked her armour outside. "Well they did tell us it was hard to miss" said Jericho as he approached the front desk. "Hello, we would like to speak with someone about joining the resistance, who might we speak to?"
"One moment please..." said the front desk employee. Soon her expression changed as he found the only recruitment officer available, it was as if she was terrified. Stuttering she said "Down the hall, take a left, and then enter the training facility." "Will do thanks!" Jericho said with a smile motioned for the other to follow.

"They won't survive the test trial" she said with a sorry look on her face "and they seemed so nice too."

Black Crow entered into the training hall and were met with what seemed to be a vast empty space, with structures here and there, they were shortly greeted by a booming voice. "WELCOME TO THE TRAINING HALL RECRUITS! IN ORDER TO FIGHT FOR THE RESISTANCE YOU MUST FIRST PASS THE TRIAL" said the commanding voice. Only moments after slots opened from the walls and several armours then proceeded to flood into the room. "BEGIN" he stated with a slight chuckle.

Estelle for a moment lost her nerve and was about to say something when Jericho said "Estelle, jump on my back" she quickly collected herself and did as ordered. "Cyrus cover us" Jericho said in a steely tone as he rushed forward with Estelle practically flying on his back. Cyrus quickly put in ear plugs and Jericho and Estelle did the same.

The armours wasted no time getting into formation and began their assault against Black Crow. Both sides open fired. Cyrus dove behind cover and quickly nulled two of the threats by shooting out their power cores, the echo from the gun practically shook the training hall causing the armours to falter slightly, and Black Crow used this to their advantage. Jericho made a quick jump on top of an armour, bashed into it's cockpit, allowing Estelle to man or rather woman the machine.

Huh no pilot...such amateurs thought Estelle with a grin and got a quick grip on the controls of the armour as Jericho jumped off pulling the attention away from Estelle. She then let loose the cannons on the armour that she commandeered. She disabled a couple more armours that had noticed her activity. Jericho gracefully slid under the last armour's fire and with an unbelievably strong sweep kick destroyed it's legs, rendering it immovable.

As soon as the scrimmage was over the voice came back laughing and said "Good good! The rumors are Black Crow is quite impressive!" the man then descended from a lift and dropped to the ground to shake the hands of Black Crow. Jericho eased up as he knew the trial segment was over and extended his hand. As soon as their hands met the cock of a sniper rifle and armour cannons echoed throughout the room.

"We don't let our guard down that easily" said Cyrus as he circled the mystery man from afar. Estelle added in flustered "What the hell kind of trial was that? You could have gotten someone killed!" as the cannons whirred behind his head.

"Relax, relax kids I am Lieutenant Lightning and it's one of my duties to test the recruits so we don't waste precious resources with flunkies." The man was dressed in the standard army uniform, he had short blond hair and as his namesake said a lightning scare on the right side of his face. Attached on both hands were a pair of what seemed to be bronze knuckles with techno upgrades. "If you'll follow me to my office we can sign you up" he said with no hint of fear, "Oh, and can you remove that cannon from my head? The whirring annoys me." Estelle didn't comply and Lightning swiftly made a devastating punch to the arm shattering it completely and having a dual affect of powering down the suit. "Now..." he said with a grin "Who wants to be first?"

Ramia and Monsoon made it to their hotel room without incident. They were beginning to wind down and relax now, with there not being much more they could do, they had enough excitement after all. But they felt it ended on a good note and hoped they'd see the Black Crow again.

"Man...It's been one hell of a day, I tell you. I'm glad we're safe from that creep for now. He's not dumb enough to attack this city by himself..But what about that phone call? That still bothers me..Who could it have been? That's the only thing bugging me right now." Monsoon pondered once again as he recalled how Ramia described the man on the phone.

"The number was restricted...Calling back doesn't work on it, we can't trace it or look it up either.. Whoever they were they didn't want to risk being discovered by anyone, even us. But it figures, Amon Ra apparently is some big secret. His existence probably would cause a lot of panic, he could even be confused for a dark beast seeing as he can use that energy. He was definitely holding back so his accomplice could steal that package...His accomplice signaled him somehow during that fight, that's why he pulled back.. But what would be worth doing all this? What the hell was in there?"Ramia concluded.

Monsoon let out a sigh as he said, "I've no idea Ramia. I didn't order anything and my family has no reason to send me a gift this time of year. We're gonna be shipping out tomorrow from the looks of it. I bet we could hire a private investigator or something though. Maybe do it all by phone or something? I just want answers on this."

She shook her head and disagreed, "Monsoon, if even the government can't track this guy down and kill him, what makes you think a private investigator is going to have any luck? Face it, they'd just end up dead if they got involved in this. Amon Ra will come to us again like he said, he wants to kill us. As long as beat him next time we see him, we can get all the answers we need right from him. He might try to ambush us but the fact of the matter is we'll be in the Resistance Unit by then and we'll have the advantage. Besides, the person on the phone said he might see us off when we leave tomorrow, we could get some answers there..So for now just don't worry about it."

Seeing her point, Monsoon didn't argue further. He simply began to unwind as he lounged on his bed and turned on the TV. "Yeah..Guess you're right. Still I hate to have to accept that maniacal bastard is on the loose and there's not a thing we can do about it until later on."

His expression and mood changed as he glanced at the TV and focused on itOh hell yeah! In five minutes the finale of Ciera Legend is on!Are you ready for this Ramia?"

Ramia smilied as she nodded, "Oh yes I am!That's our show! I can't wait to see how they'll end it. Even though it's definitely not historically accurate or realistic like they act like it is. Turn it up, please!"Monsoon did so.

They watched as the finale unfolded. While this was rather trivial compared to all the other things they had taken care of that day, it was a bonding activity for them. It was one of the few hobbies they shared together as Ramia despised some of Monsoon's choices in video games and the fact he'd always seem to win. Monsoon also tended to defeat her in most sports as well due to his superior speed in the air. This was something they could both enjoy.

"That was brilliant. The Azure Dozen whooped some ass. Oh sure Ciera was impressive too, taking out the galaxy sized freakish dark beast like that after he transformed for the sixth time with her song energy. Man. It'd be cool if this really happened. Eh but it's just based loosely off what little pieces and bits of history and lore they could find of the old times...Makes one hell of a show though.."Monsoon stated his opinion the finale as he thought about the distant past.

"Yeah, it was great! That twelve person combo attack was crazy, although that'd never happen in real life. I'm kind of sad it's over. But they really can't top that so I can't blame them. It's a shame so much information of the past was lost. How people lived back then before technology advanced, the wars back then, how the climate may have been different...There's so much we may never know now. All we can do is speculate and watch this show, really. There's little we could do with knowledge of the past anyhow. There's no information great enough that could stop this war or give us a secret to defeating the dark beasts. Still it'd be interesting to know."Ramia had her say on the matter.

They talked about it a bit longer. They had time to kill after all, they weren't too tired just yet. They were both enjoying this as after all, this was their last free day. The last day they could really laugh and enjoy themselves before facing the harsh reality of the war aganist the dark beasts.

Rather profoundly while still talking to Ramia, Monsoon began to think to himself about the future, "Man...One of these days I gotta talk to her and escape this damn friend zone! Even though her adoptive parents are human and hard to impress, I'm not gonna quit. Man I might be afraid of war but with her at my side we'll survive somehow."

Before the battle could reach a truly violent end, Cecilia got in the middle of the two fighters,"STOP! There's no reason for this to go any further, this fight is pointless. The guards are just gonna catch us all like this...Why are you two even fighting?""Both of them ceased to continue, seeing her point.

Shi reverted back to his normal form. "You...You are right.. I got carried away there. I should have just walked away and left. It's true, I don't even know why she wants to fight me so bad. Well let's get going here now.. Now don't try to attack me again, please. We're done here." With that, Shi began to move. Cecilia did as well but she watched Melissa limp she felt the need to help her. Before she could offer to heal Melissa, she exclaimed "What are you looking at? I'm fine, I don't need your pity, just go on and leave. This is nothing."Melissa tried to leave in the opposite direction but as she looked ahead she saw an incoming group of guards.

"It's one of fugitive's accomplices!!! Don't let her escape!" One of the guards called out. Cecilia immediately rushed to the aide of the limping Melissa. She then caught up with Shi, who began to run faster.

"STOP!We've got you, there's no escape this time!" Another one of the guards called out. Shi once again grabbed his orb and beat down a good deal of the guards, he then moved quickly back to lead Cecilia and Melissa.

"So I'm stuck with you people because these dumb-ass guards can't figure out I just wanted to kick his ass for bumping into me like that. Now, I don't need you to help me walk now. I'm getting the hang of this and we've lost them for now, so you can back off if you please."She said in an annoyed tone to Cecilia.

"You shouldn't push yourself that hard, you're injured. Next chance we get to stop I'm going to heal your wounds whether you like it or not! I'm not going to let you fall behind and get caught. You didn't want to get caught up in this but you did."Cecilia responded simply, a little frustrated with Melissa.

"Whatever. I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Now where we are going, Mr.Fugitive? I rather fight them than run around with no clear destination! I don't think we can just waltz on out of the city, it's got to be heavily guarded if that's what you're thinking."Melissa asked Shi, wanting to know the plan.

"There's only one person who can get these guards off my back for good. Heather. Let's just say I have history with her. She'd recognize me and drop these charges, although she might be surprised I'm still around. I just don't know where exactly she is at the moment that is our problem."Shi spoke, holding back all the details.

"I had the misfortune of hearing her lecture me today in the Recruitment Office. She'd be somewhere around there probably unless she moved on. Let's head that way, we're not too far from it. It's that way!"Melissa pointed the way to Shi.

As the three of them changed direction and headed into another alley, one that an intersection of sorts, with four different paths to go down. Directly in front of them, they saw a large group of guards waiting for them.

Their leader, an earth beast with a large smirk on his face began to speak. "Ahaha, we've caught some mice in out trap... Now you will surrender, all three of you are under arrest! Resist and you will taste the power of I, the greatest-" The guard leader continued to ramble on as he boasted and threatened the trio.

Cecilia paid little attention to his words and instead looked around for some sort of solution to this predicament. She saw the back of a large sign attached to a building. She pulled out her plasma gun and shot at the metal rods holding it up. She let out two shots and caused it to fall directly in front of the group, blocking the guards with ease. The trio then moved, taking the west pathway.

"NOOOO! What have you done you shameless miscreant, you gun wielding manic, you truly destructive girl? Property damage! That's another charge to add to the list for this band of ruffians! Remove it at that obstruction at once men! Heave ho, heave ho, heave ho! You're doing it all wrong! Don't look at me! I can't use my energy without risking damage to the surrounding structures! The rest of you go around the other side to try to intercept them! Don't let them escape, they are too close to the president for comfort!"The guard leader yelled angrily.

Melissa laughed and complimented Cecilia,"Nice. You've got good aim, you've made that blabbermouth beast throw a fit and blurt out something he shouldn't have. I would have timed it to fall on them or something but still not bad."Cecilia simply smilied in response.

"That was some good shooting, fast shooting too. Crushing them would add to our problems and could even kill them, so she did the right thing. I'm wanted for small things and this whole chase I've lead them on, let's keep it that way, this can be pardoned by her easily so-"Shi found himself unable to continue speaking as he was shocked to see a mob of guards heading for them. He grabbed his orb reluctantly as he realized there was so many, he might even have a bit of trouble. Some were even coming from behind the trio as well. They would be surrounded this time.

Cecilia sighed as she readied to fight. She saw no objects she could use to block the paths of the guards or anything else she could use to avoid it, they truly in for a large scale fight this time. Melissa also got ready to fight, despite her limp, there was no other option.

Over a loud speaker, the guard leader called out,"We've got you this time! Can you withstand THIS?! All men, attack! Capture them through any means necessary! We won't let them make a mockery of us any further!"

Melissa sighed as a small army of soldiers decided to impede any progress this rag-tag group wanted to make, even if it was un unwilling group. The sigh slowly turned into an irritated growl as she clenched her fists angrily, very visible light swirling around them like springs, thickening slowly.

"We've got you this time! Can you withstand THIS?! All men, attack! Capture them through any means necessary! We won't let them make a mockery of us any further!"

"Oh, shut the hell UP already!", Melissa yelled out, as she unleashed a wide shockwave of light, blinding the front of the forces, taking advantage of this moment to make a quick dash forward, but she keeled over midway, falling on her knees. She was a good distance away from Shi and Cecilia, her arms drooped behind her. She dropped her head to the ground, keeping the approaching soldiers from seeing the wicked grin forming on her face, and the energy quickly taking the form of discs in her hands. The soldiers made a unified front, and just as they got within a few feet of her, she leaped up, letting loose the ferocious discs as they quickly multiplied in size, cutting a deep cross to seperate them. She followed up with a hastily formed box of light around herself, making a wall between the soldiers and her two companions. Bullets began to rain down upon her as the soldiers recovered from the shock of her attack, slowly exposing holes in her defense as she yelled through.

"Rrr....Damnit, hurry the hell up, you two!!"

A small hole opened up because of the bullets, shredding a bit of Melissa's sleeve as it whizzed through. She struggled to maintain the defense, the hole spasming between sizes, a fight between the bullets and it's regeneration.

There was no time for them to question Melissa's plan now, they couldn't take her with them if they were going to progress. The barrier wouldn't hold that long. So Shi and Cecilia ran forward. They now could see the Recruitment Office in the distance, yet due to the obstructions in the alley, they couldn't quite see who was there.

However, as they made their way out, they saw another group of guards protecting the president. Yet these guards were not openly hostile yet as the president didn't give them the orders to shoot.

"So you're the ones who have been causing all this chaos. It ends now. The others have stopped firing on your friend per my orders as well, so she'll be fine but she cannot leave until we negotiate this. Now I've heard you want to talk with me and I'm ready to do so.. But just who are you? I need to know." Heather said strongly but with some sense of familiarity when she looked over at Shi.

"Heh, it's been a while Heather, or should I say President Halberd. I'm a bit shocked you didn't get it right away but..guess you thought I was dead for those years..It's me, Shi! And these other people well, they're innocent, they didn't do anything wrong. Simple as that."Shi looked confident as he spoke without fear.

This name instantly resonated with the president as she was caught off guard. "That's not possible...How? Where have you been all this time? How can I be sure it's really you?"

Shi spoke to the device on his wrist, "We've got catching up to do but if it'll erase any doubts about who I am. X38, take a sample of my hair to scan my DNA and tell me who it matches." X38 responded back,"Affirmative. Scanning complete. The database confirms your DNA is an exact match for Shi. He is indeed Shi."These results surprised Heather even further.

Some of the guards were skeptical. "What the hell is that thing? How do we know this isn't some kind of elaborate terrorist attack? How do we know it's not some sort of junky watch designed to spew your lies? Have it scan someone else!"

"It must have been linked up to a government computer at one point to be able to do that. I'm sure it's accurate. There's no way he could have made that machine himself, it's too advanced to be a watch. It even talks on it's own. So please let's not argue about his identity anymore, I know he's being honest. That is why I helped him get here, I would never help a dangerous criminal."Cecilia responded to the guard's concerns, easily disapproving their theories.

X38 spoke defended itself and said to the guards,"I am not a watch. I am X38 portable all purpose information storage and retrieval device, X38 for short. I was connected to the Nostrian main computer in Shintaion and that is how exactly I can accurately determine the DNA of a Shintaion born citizen. Any further questions?"

The guards were dumbfounded now. Between what Cecilia said and X38 explaining itself to them, they were at a loss of things to say. Heather then stepped forward, "Let it scan me then. I want to be absolutely sure, although this is truly convincing." The guards were shocked and readied to fire just in case. However, X38 scanned Heather without incident and recognized her as Heather Halberd.

"This is undeniable. It is you, Shi! My apologies for not believing you right away but I had to be sure....Guards, what are the charges aganist Shi and his friends?" Heather questioned.

"Minor counts.. Destruction of property, assaulting and knocking unconscious countless guards, escaping prison, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, theft of food..That is all.." One of the guards read the charges off a PDA like device.

"Drop all the charges. I, with my authority as President declare I will pardon all three of them. They did not kill anyone or do anything serious, all of this damage can be undone. It's clear they're not terrorists or criminals of any sort. I should have been properly informed that he wished to speak with me, it would have prevented this entire misunderstanding and saved countless resources. The incident with the terrorists and the abandoned part of down should have been a higher priority. It's clear these three were never a threat to national security." Heather said simply as she shocked the guards.

The guards hesitantly began to leave the area, although a few stuck around just in case to observe and protect The President. She then told Shi and Cecilia,"Bring your other friend here. I have to thank her for part in this.."

"Ok. I'll go get her. She's injured so I'll heal her and head over here with her!"With that Cecilia backtracked to find Melissa. She was happy, she knew now she did the right thing in helping Shi and the situation was resolved rather pleasantly with no further violence but she knew Melissa could use the healing after all the fighting she did.

A few moments later, Cecilia returned with Melissa. Heather was rather surprised by this as well. "Melissa? The third person was you? This...Is not something I expected, I have some information you may want to know..Well let's get find somewhere more private to talk. I want to speak with all of you and then I will catch up with Shi."

"Sounds good to me, they helped me out so I don't mind. Maybe we can talk about this over some food. So were to?"Shi questioned. Heather smilied as she said, "I'll buy. You've all earned it."

With that, she lead them to her restaurant of choice, one of the most upscale in all of the capital.

*La Verde's Resturant*

The restaurant was upscale but rather empty, few could afford it. Just in case though Heather bought a separate room, one used for special occasions like on birthdays or for other celebrations. She could talk with Shi, Cecilia and Heather more privately this way. Of course some of her guards were still keeping tabs on her but it was much better than talking out in the middle of the street.

The table was fancy and the chairs were amazingly comfortable. The aromas of the food coming from the kitchen were truly alluring and served only to further Shi's hunger.

"Thank you President Halberd! This is very generous of you. I never expected this would happen when I bumped into Shi like that."Cecilia thanked Heather. A rather dull day had turned interesting, she had succeeded in helping Shi and was now experiencing a once in the life time opportunity. After all, who could say they had dinner with the President herself?

"Oh it's nothing. You helped him find me, you did real good. I can't just just you go unrewarded. Few people would have the guts to try to meet me like this. And you did it rather peacefully, well as peaceful as you could have given the circumstances." She responded with sincere gratitude.

Shi commented,"Yeah it's real nice. I just hope the food gets here soon... What they fed me when I was locked up in that dump wasn't very good to say the least.""I'm sorry about that once again, Shi."

She shifted gears. "Now we have to get down to business. You've all proven yourselves. You're clearly not enemies of the state or anything but you're quite talented. Not just anyone could have taken out all those guards. What I'm saying is this, I'm looking for people such as yourselves to join a special unit to fight the dark beasts. It's not an easy decision so give it time to think it over..But we really could use a few good people such as yourselves. So please, give it some thought. You don't have to answer me right this instant."

The others began to think it over. While they were doing so, Heather looked over at Melissa, "As for you Melissa. I'll tell you what we've discovered recently. The one whom stole your family's heirloom..We've confirmed he was working on behalf of the dark beasts, not for himself as you might have thought. Whoever that burglar was, he is no longer here. He's working with the dark beast's elite forces and that's all we know. There's no clear reason as to why they'd want your heirloom. It's troublesome indeed, dark beasts have no need for things like money or valuables like that. It could have been some sort of trial to prove his worth or something, no one can say for sure."

As Melissa was ushered over to the president with the help of Cecillia, she muttered, "Ya' know, you really should keep your lapdogs under a tighter leash..."

La Verde's Restaraunt-

Melissa lazily peered around the private room, unimpressed. She had dined her more times than she could count, and had grown quite tired with the atmosphere. She glanced at Heather through a half-open eye, an obvious show of her lack of enthusiasm.

"You always pick this place, Heather...It's so damn boring...The waiters are all suck-ups, and everyone acts s frickin' stuck-up..."

She missed the irony in this statement, as she came from one of the wealthier families in the city.

She laid her head on the table, and listened to what Cecillia had to say, leaving quite a long period of silence between them while Shi and Cecillia spoke it over amongst themselves before she replied, growling:

"So you're telling me...That a no-name frickin' beast is running around with MY goddamned family heirloom...With all his little friends...FOR NO GOD DAMNED REASON!?"

Her head was no longer slumped on the table, though her eyes were closed shut, facing down to the table. She slammed her fist on the table, shaking the very foundation of it as she gritted her teeth.

"Who in the HELL does he think he is, stealing from me?! I swear to frickin' god, he's going to regret ever HEARING MY FRICKIN' NAME! So help him...God DAMNIT!"

Melissa slammed her fist on the table again before opening the door, exiting the room to get some air to herself.
