"Alright lover mine." He said to Alyssa as he gave her a kiss and made his way to their shared apartment, it was a short walk from the cafe they had been at only five minutes. The apartment building itself had been shelled a few times on the western side though thankfully their apartment was on the eastern side facing towards the coast so they needn't worry about the shelling, another benefit was that this building when it had been made was marketed as "The last best place to watch the end of the world." The owner had said it was made to withstand the after effects of Ulysses impacting the planet, this was before the railgun was operational of course and while it probably wouldn't of survived the asteroid it did fair rather well against artillery and mortars.

It only took him ten or so minutes to pack their things, they hadn't had much as all their things had been left behind a year ago while clothes were able to be found they all offered the same color and style to save on cost and materiel for the war effort so Alyssa and he had only gotten enough clothes for seven days as getting anything showy or more comfortable was difficult though they each did have clothes of work with his uniform for running messages and Alyssa's scrubs. After packing things up Wilson stripped himself of his current suit before throwing it in the washer they had, he grabbed one of his other pairs of clothes and walked into the bathroom where he started a shower. It had been a week since he had felt hot water and he was going to enjoy it.

(Just fyi, the Newfield Islands, part of the North Point region, are... well, islands... Lol. Here, maybe some maps would be useful. Newfield island was struck by an asteroid fragment, killing tens of thousands of people, decimating the city, and creating the Anderson Crater that ended up becoming a piece of the rebuilt city's port, but it wouldn't have to deal with the effects of the war directly, since the Erusians haven't mounted an invasion yet.)

As Will was taking his shower, he'd hear the door to the apartment open, then shut again as someone came inside. They walked around for a moment before Allie's voice called out "Will, honey, where are you hiding? Come on, we've got a helicopter to catch, and you've got training to get to work on."

(Like I said, been a long time since I played the game. Also I figure the OpFor would be trying to damage the city before any invasion was even planned, also this is a RP we could say the asteroid hit farther out to sea...because reasons....)

"SHOWER." He yelled out from the bathroom before he turned off the water and stepped out to start drying off. "Their is still some hot water left if you want to take one as well before we leave, we still got at least three hours. Remember the colonel said meet him in the evening but not a specific time." He spoke as he cracked the door so Alyssa could hear him better, he was drying off his hair which had grown a little to long for his liking. "So how do you feel about all this?" He asked again from the bathroom.

(Well you see, that's the awesome thing, there's no one impact zone because there was no one object falling. The entire asteroid was hollow, and when it hit the stronger portion of the Earth's gravitational field, it shattered into thousands of fragments that fell towards every part of Usea, and the rest of the globe as well. Stonehenge shot many of them down, but there were still dozens of large fragments that made it to the surface and did serious damage, as well as several hundred fragments that were flung back into a low orbit by the force of the asteroid exploding. That's one of the things I loved about the story the most is that it affected everyone everywhere, there wasn't just one giant hole in the earth's crust and a blast zone that covered a quarter of the continent)

"Yeah, I think I will go ahead and take one," Allie replied with a smile, not hesitating to let herself into the bathroom with Will once he'd cracked the door open a bit, messing with the towel on his head as she passed by him. It was clear she hadn't actually looked him over, but she was being a total tease as usual. She'd walked in on him by accident a few times before, so she knew what was going on down there, but she had yet to allow Will to see her bare. In her underwear, sure, but she insisted that the first time he should see her totally naked would be the night immediately following their wedding, or at the very least their engagement. "Honestly I'm kinda scared," she said as she started getting herself ready to take her own shower, but not yet starting to strip. "But I'm excited at the same time. I mean, you're finally gonna be getting to fly as a real fighter pilot, and I'll be able to be around you more than once a month again."

"We many be able to see each other more but the danger, for the both of us, has increased quite a bit." He spoke as he dressed himself before stepping out of the bathroom and sitting against the door. "I don't hold an illusion as to what I face, men and women who have had many more hours both in training and actual combat that I will ever have out to kill me and every other person flying against them. That and the Enterprise is the last real obstacle to Erusian dominance of the sea and they'll be gunning for the ship with everything they got." He paused for a second. "I am as scared as you Alyssa, We will be on the front line and i'm glad you will be there with me as I don't think I could do it without you." He finished as he leaned his head against he door.

Allie sighed, since she knew that Will spoke the truth, and as she climbed into the shower she said "Yeah, I know it'll be a lot more dangerous for both of us, but maybe we'll finally be able to get you real training, and we'll finally be making a real difference, having something really meaningful to do to help the war effort. I'm glad I'm that important to you, Will, and I know for sure that I wouldn't be able to do this without you, so I'm very happy that I've got you to help me through this all."

His eye's were closed as he listened to the shower run. "So what do you think they are gonna have me do? It has to be something classified or they wouldn't of sent that spec op to find me, I mean hell the airforce and navy have basses here in the city if this was just about me being a regular pilot wouldn't they of just sent someone from there? This whole thing is starting to seem a little odd...well odder then it was anyway." He spoke, the more he thought about it the more this seemed like it was really huge but then again maybe William was just blowing things out of proportion.

"I'm not really sure, Will," Allie said, sounding just as puzzled as Will was as she eventually turned the water off and started getting herself dried off, taking the opportunity to shave while she was at it, since she didn't know if she'd be able to partake in that luxury onboard the Enterprise or not. "I mean, I guess that make sense though... It does seem kinda odd that they'd send someone, and a Lieutenant-Colonel nonetheless, to recruit you for something as simple as becoming a normal pilot. I have a sneaking suspicion that there's something bigger going on here..." She chuckled and her voice took on a more teasing tone. "...but what do I know? I'm only a certified genius after all, I couldn't possibly be able to guess that this was anything other than a simple pilot recruitment."

"That certification don't mean much in the face of a advancing military does it?" He spoke back in a deadpan tone before standing up and walking over to their things, he put his holster on his leg for his 38. along with the bolo knife across his back. He grabbed the bags and set them near the door before he sat down on their bed and stared out towards the sea, it looked so peaceful compared to what was happening on the mainland he almost envied the creatures out in the ocean. "Maybe they got some new plane to test and need expendable test pilots." He said to himself darkly.

Allie sighed as she came out of the bathroom, all clean, shaved, and ready to go. She made her way over to Will's side and sat down next to him, putting one of her long arms totally around him and pulling him close as she said "Yeah, I guess you're right there, but I should definitely hope that whatever they're going to have you do it's nothing quite as dangerous as being an expendable test pilot. Even with ISAF as desperate as we are, I'm sure we're not in a position to be able to waste pilots on anything like that." As she leaned down and kissed her boyfriend's cheek and reminded him "I love you, Will," neither of them could have known that, in essence, Will's darker theory was very close to the truth.

"You forget Alyssa, I ain't a pilot yet and I love you to Alyssa." He spoke as he leaned into her side as he stared out the window still. He looked at the clock on the wall before speaking. "We better get going, i'd rather not keep a special forces light colonel waiting less we wake up tide to a raft in the middle of the ocean." He said as half a joke and half being serious as he stood up pulling Alyssa with him, he walked to the door. He picked up his bag and handed Alyssa her's. "I guess we step forward into a new future now." He spoke as he opened the door.

(I would suggest you in your post getting us to the air base.)

Alyssa nodded her agreement and understanding, laughing a bit herself as she headed for the door with Will in one arm and her bag in the other. "Yeah, I guess we do, so here goes nothing..."
~~~
(I've got another idea, if you're willing to skip a little farther ahead, like a month or so. They'd be on the carrier and Will's training would be going smoothly, but then we'd get to September 19, 2004, a date which might not mean anything to you yet, but for me it means the world, and the start of a big piece of my most passionate love stories. =P)
"General Quarters! General Quarters! All hands man your battle stations!" shouted the voice of the Master Chief Leonard Grey over the loudspeaker system as the loud klaxon alarms blared, jarring those asleep onboard the Enterprise, including Will in the pilot barracks, rudely awake. "Hangers, ready all interceptors for air-to-air combat and prepare flight deck for rapid launch immediately! Mobius Squadron, and only Mobius Squadron, is to report to the forward briefing room, the rest of the 118th is to use the two amidships rooms! This is not a drill, repeat, NOT a drill!"
In the month that Will had been here, he'd been rushed through an intensive program using the Enterprise's state-of-the-art simulators that put him in what seemed to be a relatively cramped cockpit every time, but it was never the same aircraft more than five or six times in a week. Normally, since he was only 5' 5", a standard combat aircraft cockpit would have been exceptionally roomy for him, but all the ones he was in in the sims were surprisingly a perfect fit for him. He'd been training for flying practically everything ISAF had left; F-4 Phantoms, F-5 Tigers, F-16s, F-14s, Mirage 2000s, even A-10 Warthogs and a few other things that they didn't have access to on the carrier. Oddly enough, he wasn't being instructed in a way that suggested he was supposed to be in complete control all the time. Most of the time, in the sims, he was instructed to just keep his hands off the controls and keep his eyes out all around him, calling out threats whenever he saw them while the aircraft flew itself, and quite skillfully, though if he deemed it absolutely necessary, he was able to be in complete control in an instant. The simulated aircraft he was mostly just riding in were flying and fighting noticeably better week by week, and soon enough apparently he'd been doing well enough to be assigned to a brand new fighter unit designated Mobius Squadron, part the Elite 118th Tactical Fighter Wing that made up six of the Enterprise's twelve full squadrons, with the other main unit being the 212th Tactical Fighter Wing. That assignment had come just two nights ago, as had the news that, apparently, ISAF had managed to find a few functioning communications satellites and had hacked into them, though they now knew that the Erusians had done much of the same thing. An interesting side effect of these hacked satellites was that the general communications lines used some of the same frequencies, chiefly the ones used by the aircraft of both nations, so for the first time in history combat pilots were able to speak directly with their adversaries and hear much of the general chatter amongst them. There were, of course, channels that worked that could be used for secure communications, but these weren't given to most, if any, of the pilots due to the very real threat that, if they were shot down, the frequencies could be learned either from the computers of their planes or from interrogating the pilots themselves. A direct result of this sharing of frequencies seemed to be that a bit of chivalry was making a comeback, now that pilots could speak with one another even during a fight, and many instances had occurred where, when particularly skilled or generally liked pair fought and one was shot down, one would hear pilots from both sides calling to ask of their condition and urging them to eject, as well as being reverent and respectful when someone went down with their bird.
"Come on Will, get up!" shouted one of Wilson's closest friends in the squadron, Isaac Duvall. He was a fair bit taller at 6' 1" with scruffy black hair and soft brown eyes, but otherwise his build was fairly similar to Will's save for the height. "You lazy little hobbit, we gotta go! I think we're finally gonna get our positions in the squadron before we go today!"
(Might not be able to post today, been doing running and still got more to do. Just got a few minutes back home, I will get back around 2:00 or so but I will be going to bed not long after that but I will try and get a post out.)
(Don't worry man, it's alright. You don't need to push yourself for little old me, I'll be fine. =) )
Wilson had damn near smashed his face against the top of his bunk when the klaxon sounded, he was pulling on his flight suit. "I broke your nose already by accident Issac, we can make it on purpose this time." He said to the man as he pulled his zipper up on the flight suit and started his way to the flight deck, the Enterprise was a maze of steel and rivets that had confused Wilson the first time he had set foot on the ship but he had learned how to move to get to anywhere on the ship in the fastest possible time. He contorted his body so that sailors moving to their stations could pass him as he followed behind Issac. "I was wondering when they would find us." Wilson said to Issac as he checked his revolver on his side, he had still kept it and the knife in the even he was shot down though this would be his first real flight. Satisfied that his weapons were secured he continued to follow Issac.
Isaac laughed a bit as he quickly made his way to the briefing room they'd been ordered to head to, smirking and saying "Yeah, though your main hurdle would be reaching it, shortstuff." As the pilots of Mobius Squadron filed into the briefing room, their commanding officer, Colonel Ralph Parr, was waiting there by the main projector screen.
"Glad you ladies all decided to get out of bed when you were told today," he said as they all took their seats at the various desks there and a young Ensign went around and handed a specialized briefing folder to each pilot, which would contain much of the same data that Parr would be covering, as well as additional information pertinent to the individual pilots, like their new positions in the squadron. Will, surprisingly, would find that he had been assigned as Mobius One, the squadron leader, and would soon find out that Isaac had been assigned number Two, his wingman. Before they could say much to each other, Parr dimmed the lights and flipped on the projector. "Here is the current Sitrep and your orders for deployment, effective immediately," he said as he brought up a strategic map of the Usean continent, showing the Erusian-controlled regions in red and what little ISAF territory remained in blue, as well as numerous locations of importance, such as the Erusian capitol of Farbanti, cities like Los Canas (the old location of ISAF's GHQ), San Salvacion, Comberth, Saint Ark, as well as the location of the Stonehenge site, with a dashed circle indicating it's maximum effective range against aircraft, which covered the entirety of the Usean mainland save for a few areas along the southern coast, and most of the east coast to within between 100 and 500 kilometers of the shore, depending on the precise location. Up by North Point on the map there were a series of solid circles drawn out from a number of small islands between North Point and the mainland, and as Parr was talking the centermost one blinked out and a red line drew a path through what was now a gap between the two neighboring circles, heading from the direction of the mainland through the gap and towards North Point.
"Enemy agents disabled one of our early-warning RADAR stations, which has allowed several squadrons of TU-95 Bear bombers and their escort fighters to slip through, and they were only just picked up about six minutes ago by one of our guided missile cruisers that was patrolling the area. In approximately 17 minutes we expect the first of these bomber squadrons to hit Allenfort Airbase, and then move on to targets at North Point. As is probably apparent, this cannot be allowed to happen, under any circumstances. Not only is Allenfort an incredibly important asset to us, but the kind of damage these strike packages could inflict on our command and control infrastructure at North Point would be crippling, and could very well bring an end to this war. Right now, we're the only forces in a position to intercept those aircraft before they reach the Newfield Islands; by the time Allenfort will be able to get their interceptors in the air and to altitude, the first wave of bombers will already be right on top of them. What needs to be done is we need to shoot down or chase off every single one of those Erusian aircraft, preferably before they reach Allenfort, but at a bare minimum before they get past the Newfield Islands. You men are the first and last line of defense for us right now, and the fate of ISAF may very well lie in your hands today. I only wish that your training could have been more extensive, but there's no time for any more delays. Now get to your planes, all of you, except Lieutenant Reinhardt, I'd like a word with you briefly before you go." Isaac shot Will a confused, curious look as he and the other pilots all quickly got up from their chairs and headed for the hangers.
Wilson was still getting over the surprise of being designated Mobius 1 when the Colonel asked to have a word with him, Wilson looked to Issac first. "Head on up, i'll join you soon." He said with a nod as Issac left. Wilson got up and walked up to the Colonel, saluting. "Yes Colonel Parr sir?" Wilson addressed his superior while his mind was going over the intercept mission he and the others would soon be embarking on. "This is big, didn't think my first flight would be in lead or being the last line of defense either."
He thought as he waited for the Colonel to speak.
(Question, in the game what was Stonehenge capable of? As in could it hit a 107 by 55 foot object going 2200 mph at 85000 feet? I know it was able to destroy the asteroid but humor me, would it be able to hit the object mentioned above?)
(Oh yeah, absolutely it could hit that. The railguns fire projectiles about ten feet in diameter that, when they reach a certain point they've had programmed into them, a warhead inside them detonates that sends out a shockwave that will basically obliterate anything in the air within about a two kilometer radius, so yeah. They're kinda sorta really OP AF. The only way to effectively survive an attack by them is to keep your aircraft at less than 2000 feet elevation above sea level, because the air is just thick enough at that altitude to mitigate the shockwaves enough that they won't rip a plane completely to confetti. It'll still rock them around like nuts, but it won't kill the aircraft outright. Also terrain-masking helps tremendously, meaning if you were to get down deep into a steep gorge or fly low in an area where you were closely surrounded by high mountains, they would take the bulk of the punishment.)
The Colonel had been looking through his desk at the time, and briefly glanced up at Will when the younger man spoke, though he quickly cast his gaze back downwards towards the drawer he was searching through. "What I'm about to give you, young man, may in fact be the last best chance we have left to win this damned war," he said as he pulled out what almost resembled some kind of a Star Trek Tricorder. The piece of tech was about the shape of a brick and slightly smaller in all three dimensions than one, and it looked to be incredibly advanced. There was a touchscreen display on the top of the front surface, though below that there were two physical buttons, a green one labeled 'Upload' and a red one labeled 'Download', as well as a power button on the side of the device, and on the back there was an odd-looking plug of sorts that folded and locked into a few different positions. "This device contains what you've been training to work with all this time. I wish I could explain it to you myself, but there just isn't time. Just get to the hanger and to your plane, then turn this on and she'll guide you through the rest. And remember, you're her backup, not the other way around, just like in the simulators. Let her do the work, and only override if you feel it's absolutely necessary, understood?"
