Name
Alexa Granville

Age
18

Gender
Female

Race
Human

Physical Characteristics
- 5'9"
- 145 lbs
- Auburn hair
- Hazel eyes

Personality
Confident to the point of cockiness, and with a hot-blooded, reckless streak to boot. Enjoys fighting and gets a kick out of the thrill of testing her skills, as well as the adrenaline rush. Also a sarcastic bitch that likes to troll piss off tease people for shits and giggles. Doesn't really do it out of malice, though. Deeply protective of people she actually likes, and would gladly kill in defense of them.

Biography
As the only child born to the fourth wealthiest family in Illiserev, Alexa grew up in the lap of luxury. The Granville merchant family owned five estates, three islands, and a few hundred servants, thanks to their booming international trade company.

Of course, success breeds jealously in others, and as such, plenty of unsavory rumors sprang up about the real source of the Granville family's wealth. As a result, Alexa had quite the hard time going through her primary schooling as a child, thanks to jealous classmates that believed all the rumors about her family. Thankfully, one of her professors eventually stepped in and introduced her to the arts of war, swordfighting in particular. The professor's son, one Lucius Courtright, regularly instructed her in how to wield a sword and fight with it, and Alexa became enamored with the adrenaline rush of fighting. After a display involving her burgeoning Sword Arts skills, Alexa was pretty much left alone.

In her teenage years while studying in Dansila, Alexa applied to a proper academy for teaching Sword Arts and Skills, and eventually graduated with honors and third in her class. While displeased at her chosen degree, Alexa's parents tried to salvage the situation and encourage her to pursue a graduate degree in education, so she could eventually return to Illiserev and instruct prospective maids and butlers how to fight, as teachers at servant schools held relatively prestigious positions.

Having no taste for staying in one place, let alone spending the rest of her life teaching, Alexa flipped her parents off and struck out on her own, becoming a wandering mercenary for hire. Along the way, she picked a fight with a group of slavers that were threatening one of her childhood friends and killed off a good deal of them before taking said friend along with her on her travels.

Fears
- Not being able to choose what she wants to do in life
- Being poor

Weaknesses
- Lazy about anything not related to fighting
- Is a bit of a drunken lush
- Cocky and reckless
- Greedy
- Not well liked in Illiserev at the moment, due to losing her family's financial support and contacts, as well as having killed a number of mercenaries working for a rival family

Skills
- Managing money
- Haggling
- Singing
- Looting

Equipment
Bastard sword: A talentium alloy hand-and-a-half sword, with a blade length longer than a traditional longsword, as well as a grip large enough to allow for it to be wielded with both hands if the need arises. However, it is still light enough to be wielded with only one hand.

Sword Arts
Blitzkreig - As a wielder of the lightning element, Alexa's battle philosophy is hit hard, hit fast, and make sure they don't get up after the first strike. And if they do, keep beating the shit out of them until they fall down. Talentium-enhanced speed and strength, bolts of lightning, and crushing blows of thunder are all on the table. With sword in one hand and spell in the other, Alexa relentlessly delivers blow after blow to her foes. She can also enhance her sword itself with lightning, shocking a foe with even a slight graze, giving her an opening to land a decisive blow. Of course, this focus on offense leaves her rather lacking in any real defense outside of dodging and parrying her opponents' blows.

Relationships
Aresia Resan: Hired maid.
Charlotte Covinghall: Childhood friends. Saved her ass from debtors and slavers while in Illiserev on break before her last semester. Offered to be roomies/wandering murderhobos with her.
Ashe Harper and Verek Henders: Pretty much ran in the same social circles together in Dansila, all being Illiserevan kids that got sent for school. Friends-ish.

"Through the capabilities of Runetech!"
Name: Ashe Harper
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Witch
~~~
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 141 lbs
Other Characteristics: Commonly seen fully garbed, the only piece of flesh showing being her face and neck.
~~~
Personality: Ashe is a somber individual, which is perhaps suitable given her name. Despite this, she puts on a happy face for those around her, and is able to find joy in the few hobbies she has to preoccupy herself. This given, she is also a rather focused individual, to the point of being annoyingly persistent and single-minded.

Biography: Ashe lived an isolated life inside the house of her less than kind mother; always aware of the noises which could be heard distantly from where she was. She remembered little from her childhood, a common defense mechanism for those without the ideal childhood. It wasn't like this forever, as she was swept up and taken away from the cold corpse of her mother -- one of her earliest memories, still crisp in detail -- to a home more loving than she had experience with. There, she met her now older brother, Verek, where they became descent playmates despite the suddenness of her appearance.

As she would learn later in life, it was due to her father's greedy, perhaps cowardly, selling of the witches' location that Ashe had been found and taken in. Despite how dirty it seemed, it was the one grateful regard Ashe held for either of her biological parents.

At an early age, she along with Verek were sent to a boarding school abroad, located in the educational Eden of Dansilla. It was there that she discovered the miracle of runetech, the application of magic that allowed even the most mana stunted of people to wield fantastical forces formerly beyond their control. She became an apt student, and being an apt study, she was able to pursue this recreational hobby at a more advanced rate than that which her formal classes moved.

It was due to her fascination that Ashe was able to attend a lecture in the field made the ever handsome Escellar, who, taking a chance with yet another interested kid, invited her to visit his lab sometime. A couple of years into the near daily visits she would be making, Ashe learned the most she could in the field, and was eventually interned, much to her delight. From there, she decided to make a small living as a runetech handyman, which basically meant she was a plumber and electrician rolled into one.

"I will soar."

Name: Verek Henders
Age: 17
Gender: M
Race: Human
Something: Isolation
Physical Characteristics: 5'9" with an average build leaning towards the thinner side. Blue eyes and greyish white hair.

Personality: Verek is an odd combination of ambition and friendliness. He wants to be successful and lead because people will follow him, not because he has money. He enjoys the company of others and won't use people callously or manipulate them to do what he wants to advance his position. But if he decides gaining something is worth more than he'll lose he goes for it. Even if what he loses is his friends or the lives of others. Greed is his weakness. He isn't quite sure where he wishes to end up yet, as Illiserev's style of governing does not suit him. Wherever it is it will be at the top.

Biography

Verek had an ordinary childhood for the most part. Before his father's success his parents wanted him to have the skills and knowledge to start his own business when he was older. After the war the studies continued so he could take over the family business when his father was ready to retire. The only real event of note was the arrival of Ashe into the household after the war. Children being children he didn't question it as much as an adult would have, and the pair bonded easily.

Despite his studies he had a good number of friends in Illiserev. Which made saying goodbye quite sad when he and Ashe were taken to Dansilla by their father a few years after her arrival. Sensing the inventive power behind the new art of magic his father hoped to capitilise upon runetech early. Knowing he couldn't stay away from his own business too long he enrolled both his children in Ericsson's boarding house school to learn for him. Before the man had to return to Illiserev Verek managed to arrange a meeting with Escellar for him which proved quite profitable for them both.

A year or two later, with Ashe remaining in Dansilla to study further, Verek returned home to see how his father's business was doing. Thanks to his support of Escellar he had managed to acquire an airship shortly after their creation and business had been rapidly expanding as a result. Eager to show off to his son his father invited Verek on one of the supply trips. It just so happened that pirates chose to attack the airship that day of all days. Unarmed, inexperienced and quite young the boy hid in the captain's cabin for the entirety of the battle.

At one point one of the pirates made it to the cabin, having broken through the defender, and tried to break in. Hearing movement from within the pirate began threatening to drop the person inside over the edge of the ship and watch them explode upon the ground below. Terrified by the thought and scared of dying to the man Verek has feared falling from an airship ever since. However the pirate was found and dispatched and when ti was safe at last Verek emerged. Exploring the insides of the ship afterwards he discovered an odd looking knife that had rolled into the furnace room. The crew, preoccupied with keeping the ship running now they were undermanned, had not yet found the weapon. So the boy claimed it as his own.

Combined with hearing from Ashe how one of their classmates had become some sort of fight club champion, the experience of helplessness on the ship made Verek ask his father for combat training. Learning the knife his son had found was made of talentium the man agreed, and sent Verek off to a butler/maid school to learn. There he was taught the ice snake sword arts style. Though he showed skill with the art he had little combat experience, and those at the school who had been training for years regularly beat him. Especially some fire fist woman who became a bit of a rival, even if she didn't know it.

Having gained enough experience to be competent in battle he returned to Dansilla to continue his studies once again, having fallen behind on runetech advances. Despite his fear he found himself fascinated by airships and their ability to fly. And because of his fear he was inspired to create a personal flying device that would allow someone who fell overboard to land safely or to simply move around faster in normal life. As such a lot of his time was spent in his room studying everything he had missed from Ashe's notes and those flustered first years had to find other recipients for their letters.
Fears: Falling from a great height. Abandoning those he knows for something material he values greater. Being manipulated and losing.
Weaknesses: Can be a teensy bit greedy and impulsive i.e. likes shiny things. Easily tempted. Stubborn with a one track mind. Not the best fighter yet.
Skills: Tinkering, engineering drawing, artistic drawing (not good at this one)

Equipment: Talentium knife, 'Jetpack', supplies for drawing runes

Magic - Runetech
'Jetpack': What is effectively a pair of spellshooters strapped to his hips they are inscribed with an air rune of his own design. When activated they expulse a blast of air that will send the person wearing them straight up into the air, before gravity reasserts its dominance. They are generally angled upwards with a level on the belt before use, and are used as an escape mechanism. Verek occasionally uses them to enhance his short range ice cloud attack by increase the speed of the shards.

Sword Arts
Verek generates a long whip of ice from his dagger whose length is as sharp as a blade. He spins this whip around himself as a defensive measure to block any incoming attacks. When he sees an opening at medium-long range he will either slashed with the whip or do a more traditional whip attack except using the sharp tip to pierce instead of slap. Doing the former he can quickly flick the whip into lines that form a constant barrage of attacks. At short range the whip can shatter into hundreds of individual shards that fly at his opponent in a large cloud.

Sword Skills
Jörmungandr: Effectively the opposite of his defensive whip shield, the talentium of his dagger splits from itself into a long wire than shoots out to wrap around his opponent and tightens, cutting every patch of exposed skin. Deadly to unarmoured foes but can be blocked by weapons due to the thinness of the wire. The tip can also be pierced into a stationary object, allowing Verek to pull upon it and really slice anyone caught within it to shreds.

Relationships
ADOPTED, BADASS, RUNETECH SIBLINGS with Ashe.
One sided rivals with Aresia
Alexa: Tentative friends from school
Araki: Classmates
Raela: Also classmates
Charlotte: Known through Alexa

Riley Thompson
A well known witch, and inheritor of the only trans-dimensional summoning spell in existence. Riley is, simply put, a prodigy in magical arts, a fact well established with the degrees she has earned and having a doctorate in Magical Theory, despite her relatively young age. While restrictive in the use of her witch powers around those she , the rare allegations against her are usually outright dismissed due to the allies she has in the Seyours, Courtrights and Aruivantes. Spends much of her free time with her nose in a book, and has the occasional jaunt in the field hunting of rift-beasts with her definitely not significant other friend Fion using her own unique combination of summons and high-speed Sword Skills.

Currently working on ways to "de-race" the restricted forms of magic -- using runetech as the mode -- and the occasional day with Eldren and his Rift-beast studies, despite their constant butting of heads.

Adversity

"We draw blood for different reasons, you and I."

[fieldbox="Raela Alymer, #29AB87"]
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Physical Characteristics: 5'5" & 120 lbs
Personality: Attuned to righting wrongs, Raela is the picturesque humanitarian and do-gooder, ominous as her smile might seem to be. She heavily dislikes bad blood between individuals and parties, and strives to ensure that environments are, while not without issues, at least without negative rivalry and petty disputes. A definite team-player, Raela is highly responsive to requests, though always manages to somehow turn them into favors, inevitably asking for things from people in turn. For all her benevolence, Raela still manages to portray herself as cunning and mischievous, always seeming to have something on her mind that she probably shouldn't.
Biography:
Raela was born the daughter of the Alymer vampire family head, and as such was afforded a rather luxurious and wealthy lifestyle. Still, her father, being a generous and well-intentioned man, ensured she was raised properly with love, care, and discretion. Her young life was not spoiled, fortunately. Being a vampire noble meant she had access to a steady supply of blood, and being taught to treat all other races with kindness, was well-liked by her servants and slaves within the residence. Her father, likewise, was well received by them as well.

Being a vampire, Raela was expected to develop an affinity for blood and soul magicks, though her mentoring had eventually resulted in a recognition of her adeptness with mind-based spells instead. Particular family spells revolving around the tricking of opponent's perceptions were handed down to her, and she took them up quite readily and easily, eventually being declared the sole possessor of said abilities after her uncle (her mentor) perished in the Talze Utera War.

Her home had become a refuge for countless individuals during the war, and though she and her father regularly treated the wounded, scared, and confused, they ultimately could not save everyone. When Talze Utera fell completely, Raela and her father fled to a more secretive location, bringing along refugees as they requested it, and eventually found their way to a mountain citadel. As her father regularly went out on "trips", Raela was left as the primary caretaker and head of the residence for long periods of time.

Eventually their hideout was discovered by Astopolian knights, and her father sent her away to Dansila. Her journey was not met without danger or resistance, however, and on several occasions she had come a hairs width away from being captured and executed by the pursuing knights. Fortunately she made it to Dansila, and enrolled in Academy after staying with a man by the name of Gael Ericsson for some time.

Fears: Being thought of as genuinely mean or bad by someone else, horses
Weaknesses: Pretty transparent; she rarely hides her motives and moreso fails to keep them secret even if she tries
Skills: Making nice with others, fancy weapon maneuvers, historical knowledge

Equipment: Warscythe "Scolo" - Raela's large and formidable Talentium-lined warscythe. Taller than her own height and with a blade wide enough to cut down two men at once, it is suited for outdoors, mid-range combat.
Magic: None
Sword Arts:
Swinging Gaol - Insidious :: One of several techniques of the Swinging Gaol Sword Art branch, taught to Raela by her father. The Insidious technique utilizes a mana stream to effectively mask the "danger" of any object so perfectly, it renders the target practically invisible to opposing eyes. In a sense, the mana creates an aura clinging to the weapon (in this case) that tricks the eyes into thinking that there is "nothing there", or rather, confusing them with an understanding of the object's presence, but offering no revelation as to its true appearance. Enemies and friends alike can sense, for example, that Raela is holding something in her hands (and not that she is simply feigning holding something), but cannot detect that it is her warscythe. All they get is a "feeling" that there is something there.

The sword art briefly fails whenever it comes into contact with something, causing a shimmering effect across the scythe and allowing others to briefly see its form before it returns to practical invisibility. With this nefarious technique, Raela employs a number of flourishes, pulls, and extending actions to keep the opponent guessing as to where exactly the warscythe's blade actually is. In addition, she possesses the skill of throwing her scythe like a boomerang, further adding to her ability to mask the weapon's exact position/presence.
Sword Skills:
Timeless Waning - Infinity :: An utterly exhaustive Sword Skill that effectively renders a weapon temporarily free from the bonds of time. The user becomes planted in place, able only to manipulate their weapon and upper body. Within a theoretically infinite amount of time, the user can hack, slash, and swing as many times as their stamina can handle, striking at a target within range countless times. Given all of her energy is put into "stopping time", no extra strength is bestowed upon her in this Sword Skill, leaving her strikes only as powerful as her natural strength can muster. As the technique ends, time returns to the user, and the effects of their weapon are instantiated.

To an outside viewer, the technique simply seems like the user pulled off countless strikes within an instant, and is thus little more than an execution move.

Charlotte Covinghall

"Actually, learning music was really pointless."

Age:

18

Gender:

Female

Race:

Human

Physical Characteristics:

Standing at 5' 7", 115 lbs. Charlotte has a slim frame and an average height. She has ruby red eyes and medium brown hair.

Personality:

Free spirited and adventurous, Charlotte is not what you would expect from a girl raised in highest echelons of Illiserev society. Lively by nature, she is not one to idle around and is usually out and about. Being from higher society, she's good with people skills, but isn't much of a person that hides behind a stuffy false mask of perfect personality. Charlotte is frank and likes to horse around; she's a person that gives and takes jokes fairly well. She makes insults with a smile. She's a fairly moral person and her book of ethics is loosely akin to a knight's code.

Biography:

Charlotte was born to one of the three ruling oligarchs of Illiserev. The third child among four siblings and growing up in the heart of Illiserev, she was no stranger to wealth, fame, and simply the best of the best. At their peak, her family held assets that could rival a nation state, thanks to a booming wartime industry and a secure trade network. Shortly after the war, the Covinghall family fell into rapid decline, onset by the passing of her eldest brother and father. Her father was a general, but quite old, and for all intents and purposes, the general manager of their household and a guy that got wield a fancy lance. His humiliating and untimely death by banana peel was horrid, but didn't ruin the family. But the unexpected death of her elder brother in a fire in Dansila began to spell the beginning of the end; the youngest son was a well-known lout, but ambitious enough to seize power. His ill-informed business practices would drive the family and their assets into the ground; his only saving grace was the managerial capability of their younger sister.

She was homeschooled for much of her life, tutored in the humanities, mathematics, and self-defense by her family's myriad staff of butlers and maids. She showed a particular talent for music, however useless, and astronomy, which ended being useful. Unlike the rest of her family members, she opted against pursuing business. After all, she had two siblings running the show, and the family enterprises practically printed money. Instead, she studied sword arts and skills. Charlotte attended school in Dansila for about two years, hoping for further education in Astopol. Unfortunately, she ended up being recalled home at the death of her second brother in a drunken horse-and-buggy accident.

Unexpectedly the head of the family, Charlotte worked to manage the estate before passing on the responsibilities of the businesses to her younger sister. But with a new head the desk, it was quickly discovered that the family finances were worse than they'd seemed; her asshole of a dead brother had been cooking the books and squandering their money on who-knows-what. It was evident that they were deeply bankrupt. In the following legal proceedings, the family debt was bought by a wealthy family friend, who ended up not being as friendly as they'd used to be.

With alarming swiftness, he seized all the assets of the Covinghalls, and made to send slavers to capture Charlotte, who barely escaped the family estate with little but her lance and a few coin. Her sister was not as lucky and was captured, but the man was seemingly reasonable enough to appoint her as a secretary to his fat brat of a son that ate too many melons. As for Charlotte, the 'friend' enlisted the help of an entire mercenary company to track her down, and this eventually came to be as she made her way to request the aid of another family friend. Forced to fight, the girl was nearly overwhelmed before a childhood friend and her retinue by chance came upon the scene. With their aid, she was able to break through their encirclement and escape. In return, Charlotte offered to accompany her friend on her travels.

Fears:

Flying, heights, large insects

Weaknesses:

-Impulsive when angered.
-Overthinks important things to the point where inaction becomes impulse again.
-Is a broke ass motherfucker.

Skills:

-Plays some instruments
-Knowledgeable in business management
-Knows her humanities well, especially astronomy
-All the things you'd expect from a (formerly) rich and noble person
-Acceptable at cooking

Equipment:

The lance "Excelsior"; a sleek and long reaching lance with a talentium blade. Just slightly over two meters in length, it is versatile in close quarters as a staff or its intended purpose as a medium range weapon on the battlefield. Only twelve years old, it has already served as the faithful weapon of four heads of family.

Magic:

"Ivaldi" and derivatives. This spell harnesses the power of the sun, but at its core is very simple: it amplifies the rays of the sun. It's particularly useful for warming a nice space, even outside, in the winter, or lighting a fire in an orthodox way, or any manner of ways where it would be nice to have more sun.

It's the most lethal in its most advanced state, where it can be loosely defined as an "anti-army" spell. In this state the rays of light are well amplified and focused to the point where it is visible and looks like a near solid beam of light. It can boil a person in a few seconds, but at this level it is slow, cumbersome to direct, and energy draining. It's dodge-able and generally ineffective against individuals and small groups. Can't melt steel beams.

Sword Arts:

Charlotte's sword art style is all about finesse, and to a lesser extent, speed. With her element being gravity, her focus is on disorienting the enemy and getting the upper ground, sometimes literally. She can conduct heavy, sweeping blows aided by lance modified by gravity, and then immediately jump back with a weapon that's now as light as a feather before returning with a series of quick, successive jabs. Footwork is key in balancing these gravity-distributing acts.

Sword Skills:

Charlotte's special brand of skill is "equalization." It's heavier, far more forceful than even those backed by her sword arts; strikes from skill are backed with the blunt pressure of a tsunami. It's an incredibly heavy strike; a hit from the blade can break through the most valiant guards, pass all but the strongest armor, and render magical shields and wards useless.

Relationships:

Saved by her childhood friend at probably the most opportune moment, ever. She's since made herself a member of Alexa's retinue alongside the meido-butler Aresia. She sometimes refers to Alexa as "master" and dresses up as a maid for amusement. The irony is palpable.

THE VERY MODEL OF A MODERN MAJOR GENERAL WARFARE

"If it's for gold, I don't mind painting things red!"
iW5UQ.png

Name: Cerose 'Sarah' Aldalta
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Race: Oni
Physical Characteristics: 6'10" [2.08m] and still growing, she'll likely even out at 8'4" [2.54m] in a few years. Horns on her head, pointy ears, long canines, and inhuman looking eyes make it rather easy to see that she's not human. For a disguise, something that covers nearly all of her head is a must, and even then her height is a problem. Her body is similarly unmistakable as both a woman's and a fighter's. Weighing in at 285 lbs. [129 KG,] it's clear Oni are made of denser stuff. There is a large scar from a slash on her back |/| from waist to shoulder.

Personality: An Oni, Cerose is someone with blue and orange morals. She holds food/water above everything, considering it more valuable than money, [and she really values money.!] She particularly enjoys fish and bread-based foods, and so her favorite is the little fish pastries found in Dansilla. Perhaps the reason why Cerose values money so much is because she can't understand the value of other things. She's the type to buy the most expensive clothing simply because its comfortable, then proceed to spill food all over it while eating. Her spending is rather frivolous in this regard. 'Saving money' is also a foreign concept to her. The woman is feisty to the point of almost being feral, but completely obedient when dominance is shown.

Biography:
The oni use a ritualistic magic very similar to rune tech, in the past. After their elders found the outside world distasteful and dangerous, they sealed the island off from the rest of the Archipelago. Overtime, because there was no reason to believe it would fail, this magic was lost and unable to be recovered.

When the rift-beasts attacked the island of the Oni, a few structures damaged, disrupting the spell that had given them peace. While the oni were able to fight off the strange and powerful monsters, their numbers were culled and they had no skills to forge talentium weaponry.

When the island was discovered by those of the world, the oni's war-like nature made it obvious to the humans that they were evil. Astopol and Illiserev went in to handle the survivors. Unknown to them all though, mercenaries had also slipped in, and cradle-snatched a whole lot of kids while the adult oni were getting slain.

Cerose, five at the time, spent some time traveling in shitty situations, until she was auctioned off and sold to an eccentric who liked red wine and experimentation. At this point, her strength had not yet developed.

After time passed, the master grew bored of her simplicity, and tossed her off to the notorious underground coliseums instead. Through the announcer's introductions of her every time she was tossed in there with animals or other slaves or whatever else. Eventually, she found out her race had been completely destroyed. It was this information that allowed her to receive a scar on her back that existed to this day.

After a while , her mind came to the simple idea of 'why don't I escape?' Having been captured since an early age, it was quite a foreign concept. But with her situation and the loss of her brethren, it was a a choice she made.

Leaving behind a trail of crushed heads and on the run, Cerose managed to stow away on an airship. This airship, a simple floating construction, was then attacked by a real vessel of the sea. In the air. It was indeed a true flying ship, that should be resting on ocean waters. Not that Cerose knew that. She was tired of everything. Somewhat glad it was all here, she was prepared to take down everyone and everything.

That is, until elves and witches walked in with peaceful intentions. They asked if she wanted to come with them, and she decided... 'why not?' And so with proper nourishment and training, her strength blossomed and she became an air pirate amongst comrades. The captain of this flying ship was a figure called the Witchmother South. The person Cerose herself worked under, however, was an Elven samurai by the name of Arsdain Melune.

The witches helped her develop the type of magic she wanted, and sometimes an odd white-haired human would come to their ship. Cerose had no qualms though, because he would arm wrestle her sometimes! Fun!

Fears:
Severe --- Inescapable Isolation, dying from lack of food, and being weak compared to the people around her.
Moderate --- Small enclosed areas. Mysterious smiles, or smiles on mysterious people.
Uncomfortable --- Small things that are also dangerous, and cheese. [She hates eating and even touching it unless she knows the kind of cheese is made without some disgusting process involved. Having discovered that she unknowingly ate a unknown/disgusting cheese is like finding half a worm in the apple you're eating.]

Weaknesses:

Racial --- Oni are notoriously big drinkers, but easily get drunk.
Mental --- Cerose is particularly weak against those with high charisma, and will often follow semi-reasonable orders or submit completely if the person thinks themselves untouchable. Additionally, it is hard for her to recognize faces she's seen before.
Physical --- Although not severe, her back's wound makes it difficult to do things such as carrying something heavy that requires her full strength.

Skills: Arithmetic. Discerning taste buds. Needs little sleep. Can read a person's body language and face to discern their intent amongst other things. [YUP. She can read faces, but can't really remember an individual's.] And obviously, high strength and stamina.

Equipment:
A Large Spiked Kanabo made of Talentium --- A heavy weapon of four feet. It deals both blunt and penetrating damage! Ouchies!
An arm-ring with 7 Talentium Beads --- The insides are made of diamond-pointed Talentium fragments, with the outside being deceivingly decorative..

Magic:

Defensive Skin --- A multi-layered spell. Enhances her entire body with mana, giving it the durability of steel armor instead of flesh. If an attack goes through, the magic in the damaged area is broken and serves to partially deflect the attack to cause a less severe wound. Additionally, the remnants of the energy give a regeneration effect to the damage done, as well as empowering it's next action if it's something like an arm or leg. Although useful, the regeneration isn't as efficient as a straight up healing skill. Once an area has been broken, it remains that way, making her vulnerable to consecutive attacks.. This spell can currently only be used on her entire body, making it's cost a rather severe 40% of her mana/stamina.

Want not, Waste not --- A spell that can be used internally or externally. Ineffective against curses. Internally, this spell breaks down foreign magic, and uses it and any remaining mana for the spell to power up her body temporarily. Externally, this spell can be used to surround herself or a nearby object, giving it resistance against magic damage. Additionally, when used externally, a smaller part of mana is absorbed from nearby spells around the target, empowering the next action. While it doesn't cancel out spells or anything, it does those cast around her weaker, whether it be an ally's or enemy's. Can't be activated on the spot to guard against burst damage.

Martial Arts: Cerose often found that after she hit something, it didn't get back up. So she developed her style around that. The style revolves around hitting the enemy with all she's got, with a few techniques to help her actually hit. Uses both her body and weapon.

Brute Charge --- A movement technique that lacks any subtlety. Putting muscle into a pure charge, increases her speed for a straight line, and increases the damage of any attacks made.

Super Jump --- Like, we're talking 50 meters/164 feet. Passively grants Cerose resistance to falling damage.

Sky Kick --- This punt is strong enough to send the enemy flying into the sky. Even if it somehow deals no damage, it's a long way down...

Jam it in --- Just thrusts her hand forward with great power, pushing aside obstacles with great force. Can be a straightforward punch, or used to grab the enemy.

Oni Smash --- An all out attack. Spins rapidly in circles towards the enemy, swinging her Kanabo above her head or in front of herself. She then puts all of this extra momentum into a giant full-force swing, losing her balance and crashing to the ground afterwards. 50% chance of failing if drunk, 100% chance of vomiting.

Oni Slam --- Raises her Kanabo high, then slams it to the ground. Causes nearby targets to lose their balance, with closer proximity having more of an effect.

Store Strength --- Because obviously it's something that can be stored right? Saves up strength to increase the power of her next attack. Can be used twice in a row for extra power!

Spinning Oni Drop Kick --- Puts all her strength into chucking her Kanabo into a spinning attack, immediately after turning around and catching it with her other hand. Dragged along by the projectile, she then tries to drop kick the target. 20m range.

Oni Cross-up --- A two step attack. The first is a quick uppercut with her Kanabo. Building up momentum, she then spins around once and follows the attack up with a powerful horizontal swing.

Really Loud Yelling --- Disorients those nearby.

Sword Skills

Snap --- A flick with her fingers that achieves strength beyond her entire body. Huge penetrative force at the cost of breaking off the finger from her hand. Anything that can withstand the hit is sent flying. Because of the uncontrolled strength, launching anything short of Talentium makes projectiles inaccurate, or simply destroys it instead of launching it. This is often a last resort, due to the self-damage and the fact that it's really hard to find the Talentium shards after. When used with Defensive Skin, the damage to her finger is reduced to a mangled and mutilated state. Although stamina usage for this skill is low, it is still notable. Most effective when first used, due to the element of surprise. Effective range of 300m.
Relationships: Wanted. Ex-Colloseum Warrior. Serves under Arsdain Melune and the Witchmother South as an Air Pirate.

PERSONALITY
[/bg]

Aresia is an hypocritical mess. Too lazy to cook, clean or do whatever else, living alone would end up in chaos. She tries to not care about money, believing that the more money you have the less you have to ultimately care about it. With this principle in mind, being a maid is just about the perfect job for her, as getting paid for cooking and all the other things is totally different from doing it just for 'yourself'. Despite that lazy self, Aresia gives 120% in her job, as she simply sees it as a mandatory task for the price her employer is paying her. It also needs to be said that Aresia loves to help out the poor, putting a smile on a person who is happy just about a loaf of bread gives the black hair a feeling of indescribable happiness, naturally she also hates slavery, and ultimately this is the reason she will most likely never amass riches.

Fears
Aresia fears, as edgy as it may be, dying, having not found a real reason she wants to live yet, dying would suck regardless. Furthermore getting scolded by her employer, as this equals having done a bad job and thus, not worth the money she gets paid. Or any failure regarding her contract in the first place, really. As much as she hates them, she also fears vampires, while the black hair has never seen one herself, just thinking about those brutal monstrosities gives her shivers. She also cares greatly about the rest of her family, which directly translates into fear of something to them happening.

Weaknesses
Taking whatever her employer may request (as long as it stays in the contract) very serious, this can turn into quite a problem. Being in the middle of the forest and the gentlemen wants to eat shark this evening? Sure thing, she will try to get that covered! Hating slavery, Aresia would go out of her way to do whatever she can, though for now she hasn't even gotten a lead. The same holds true for poor people, it wouldn't be a first giving 3 months worth of living expenses to some random orphanage she randomly stumbled upon.

BIOGRAPHY
[/bg]

Born in Illiserev, Aresia was the fifth child of a mid-wealthy family that had since long the tradition of producing superb maids and butler. Of course, it shouldn't be any different with small Aresia, while being the fifth child meant she had way less responsibilities than her siblings, the employed maids and butlers made sure she would grew to be a fine maid...or butler in that case! At least Aresia decided for suits as those had way more style anyways.

Without too much effort, Aresia excelled at the maid school she was attending and it didn't take her long to get an internship for basically something bigger. In the end though, there wasn't much difference BUT Aresia was, despite being the fifth, finally getting some recognition from her lovely family! Thus, for the sake of celebration, she was finally about to go home for a while.

Though in the end, there were only funerals she could celeberate to. As it turned out, part of her family was butchered by some sexist vampire. Because of that, Aresia got even more time off, and after getting a small lead through an attack of the same vampire against the company that employed her sisters and mother, Aresia tunnel visioned on her great quest for revenge; and the Muspellzheimr Sword Art's style was just about perfect.

Continuing her training furiously and whatever else she had to do to allow for more training, the girl became a tad darker compared to before. But thanks to some cool white-haired dude named Aiv who stopped her from becoming a second-gen Sasuke 'Edgelord' Uchiha, she soon realized what she did was just silly, and while revenge was still kinda the main thing for Aresia, first and foremost she herself was the most important, let alone having discovered innocent sweet love! And the fact that Aiv teached her a pretty cool move just helped to strengthen that opinion.

DEVOURING FLAMES - MUSPELLZHEIMR
[/bg]

One of the many different sword/martial arts thaught at the combat schools in Illiserev, Muspellzheimr inherits the destructive element of fire. Fighting with their bare fists it's thanks to Talentium that Muspellzheimr users could shift from disarming opponents to simple destruction, though disarming is, like in any other of the Illiserevian Martial Arts, a very core concept. Regardless, with explosions, fire, heat and live devouring flames that add to the stamina of the user being a main aspect of Muspellzheimr, this powerful combat art goes so far, despite the mandatory fire resistance, to even damage the combatant himself with burns and alike.

Since this goes against the principle of maid/butler combat being seen as an art, a more tamer version of Muspellzheimr is more commonly used, where a basic move, catching your opponent's weapon and overheating it until it breaks down, is already seen as one of the most advanced moves. In fact, it is not uncommon for a Muspellzheimr practitioner to let their employer die simply because of not going all out.

SWORD SKILLS
[/bg]

From the Ashes
While simple in execution, a miracle nonetheless. From the Ashes is simply a Sword Skill that restores the user's life into top-notch form. Having lost an arm? Got it covered. Having the Cursing Curse of 1000 and 1 Curses? Got it covered. At the verge of starving? Got it covered. A tiny bite scar on your hand? Got it covered. Furthermore, upon execution, a medium-sized energy blast occurs around the user as well, pushing away any pushable objects. It also goes without saying that this skill does cost a lot of Stamina, which is the only thing depleted nonetheless, and thus won't allow for endless loops. This is a Sword Skill teached by Muspellzheimr.

Collapsing Dreams - Null Singularity
Aresia's much hated finisher move, absorbing anything that could be considered life in the vicinity into a small singularity in her palm. This has the consequence of weaker life forms(up to infants/small animals/some plantlife) dying by default while suddenly turning cold and dark, with the orb essentially being a second light source. Said orb can be used in two ways, either as a strong finisher move, trying to hit the opponent and unleashing hell on him or by digesting it, giving a major power boost that slowly destroys the body. Damage done by this Sword Skill through absorption to the environment is heavy enough that whatever damage might have been done won't recover for a while.
Ice Banisher - Ignition
Ice Banisher - Ignition is a counter Sword Skill that can be used to temporarily disable your opponent. By theoretically freezing and dissipating whatever energies he is putting into his next attack. The stronger the attack, meaning, the more resource accumulated and spend, the stronger the disabling effect. Required for the use of this Sword Skill are pronunciation of the words and vision of the target, 'Ice Banisher' can be said at any given time and be followed up by 'Ignition' even 5 minutes later, though, for the entire duration of those 5 minutes vision needs to be maintained. Ice Banisher - Ignition has only reduced effectiveness against attacks way over her own power-level. This skill is especially effective after having witnessed certain attacks multiple times, as the hardest part of Ice Banisher - Ignition is timing.

"Discipline. Honor. Humility. Skill. A true warrior needs little else." … "What do you mean, I'm too hard on myself?"

Name: Shizuka Kisaragi
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Physical Characteristics: 5'4" and 120 lbs. Probably just wearing some sort of bodysuit and not body paint.
Personality: Shizuka is generally cool, collected and serene, but easily flustered if one surprises her or knows how to push her buttons. She's serious about her training and sees herself as a student of sword arts first and foremost. She has a strange sense of humor, which can cause her to crack up completely at times. In some ways, she's very sheltered and naive, possibly due to her upbringing in the country. She tends to take things seriously at all times and holds herself to high standards. Living in the country generally meant running and hiding when a rift beast appeared nearby.

During one of these crises, Shizuka fell out of the tree where she was hiding, and didn't take the landing well, breaking an arm. Her mother acted as a decoy, drawing the attention of the wandering rift beast long enough to die violently in front of her daughter allow others to drag Shizuka to safety. Shizuka was raised by her grandparents from that point on. They also took over running the dojo, and as soon as she had recovered from her injuries, her grandfather started her training to pass on the family techniques.

Eventually, the diminishing number of incoming students prompted her grandparents to send Shizuka to Cykes, to stay with a friend of her mother's, Tamamo, and to continue her battle training in the city. She got involved with the Dansilan fight Club to further test her abilities and train herself, although she eventually lost to a member three years her junior in a truly shameful incident.

Biography:

Shizuka is the first daughter of a family living in rural Dansila, where they are in charge of a traditional dojo which has been in the family for generations. She was about five years old when the war with the Empire happened, and her father, as the current head of the school, left to join in the war. Although he distinguished himself well in battle with the Empire, with the advent of the rift beasts, he didn't return.

To be a proper successor, she must develop her own unique Sword Skill, and otherwise advance her school's Art. She has yet to do so, and has spent most of her life training in the dojo, rather than honing her skills on the battlefield.

Fears: Drowning, Heights, Failing to live up to her family's expectations, Spiders.
Weaknesses: See what happens if you point out her outfit might be inappropriate. She can't swim. Far too earnest and straightforward. Lactose intolerant. Inflexible in her thinking of herself as a swordswoman and warrior before much else. She's actually not all that dangerous once her weapon's drawn, if she doesn't sheathe it again. Some of these psychological hang-ups actually make her poorly compatible with her own sword art's element, and she's technically not using it so much as a whole bunch of sword skills.

Skills: She's a very good dancer, like most Mythril Current practitioners. Foraging for food outdoors. Knowledgeable about history. Can perform a tea ceremony.

Equipment:
Talentium katana. It's probably a family heirloom, but there's not much worth saying about it, otherwise. It's a tool for killing.

Silk armor: it's magically-infused silk harvested from either spirit spiders or magical silkworms or something. Doesn't really offer more than light protection, but it's far more resilient than it should be.

Magic: None
Sword Arts:
Mythril Current - Her family's traditional Sword Art. Aligned to the element of water, it embodies its many forms and ever-changing nature. It favors fluid, dance-like motion and swift, iaijutsu strikes which begin and end with the blade sheathed. A skilled practitioner moves with measured grace, striking with the force of a tsunami, and as elusive as the receding waves. Defensively, it focuses on evasion and lightning-quick counters. A very mobile Art, many of its maneuvers involve moving in some way or another, dancing around the battlefield from target to target.

Sword Skills:
Quicksilver wave - A rapid draw of the sword creates a shockwave of shimmering silvery energy which rushes forward to cut down targets even at range.
Rippling current - A basic iaido strike which is so quick, it can easily catch opponents unaware.
Flowing River - A counter against magic. When attacked with magic, if the effect is resisted, move adjacent to the attacker and strike at them.
Mythril Flash - While Mythril current usually focuses on mobility, sometimes one must intercept an opponent's blade with one's own. A rapid draw of the sword attempts to block and strike in the same swift moment, fending off the incoming blow and striking at the attacker in the same moment.
Crashing Wake - Moving like a wave across the battlefield, the mythril current practitioner rushes forward, striking at every enemy within their path. Foes so struck do not even realize they have been cut until the strike ends and the practitioner sheathes her sword.
Ride the Current - Strike an opponent as you dodge away from their attacks, moving a good 10 feet away. Most notable as a way to break combos or multiple attacks.

Relationships:
Araki: revenge and/or marriage target

Theme Song:

Captain

An associate of Ellenil, to a degree, the Captain of the merchant vessel, Argena, is a colorful individual who laughs at authority and loves cold meats and raw vegetables. Her origins aren't known by anyone but her closest associates, and there have been rumors about that she had made contracts with airship pirates to only target vessels other than her own. Of course, there's no way to actually confirm at of this, because, unlike most others working in the airship freight business, the Captain rarely spends any time in towns, and thus, no one has managed to get her drunk enough to spill her secrets. Someone who enjoys her work a lot, the Argena is full of like-minded, hard-working individuals due to the fact that she can really become insufferable when she sees lazy people.

Eiros Kiluma
A vassal of the Alymer family, and, by extension, Eikan Alymer himself, Eiros is one of the few vampires that had managed to, in such a tumultuous era, lived longer than his human prey, having witnessed the turn of a century. A powerful and talented practitioner of the vampiric magics, he's a rather conservative vampire, seeing humans as prey and vampires as the superior race, as well as nursing a rather large sadistic streak. Within the slavery industry, he's considered one of the best when it comes to harvesting, and his mastery of soul magic is great enough that he can command an army of spirits to run an airship for him. A popular individual, he's the target of the affection of many young vampires, which is why he's greatly amused when there are those of his kind that pointedly dislike him.

Like most of the older vampires, he despises the usage of runetech and talentium, thinking of them as tools that only low-bred plebians would even consider using.

Wynn Rocco
A young mother, and a citizen of Astopol, Wynn doesn't like talking about the past, but makes references to it anyways. She has a well-paying job, enough to send her son to a high-end private school in Cykes, and is an odd mixture of pragmatist and idealist. Wynn dislikes it when people justify their means with the results that it brings, but most of the time, she's rather willing to do the same or worst. A girl made of contradictions and hypocrisy, she's nevertheless rather close to figures of power within Astopol. The Knight-Commander is always trying to get her to join the military as an instructor, while the High Priestess goes to her for advice on how to talk to men.

Arts and Skills
Talentium is an ore that resonates with its user. Certain people have a certain aptitude for using this odd metal, and because of that, are capable of drawing out the true benefits of Talentium much easier than those who are 'untalented'.

On one hand, Talentium enhances their ability to cast magic. By pushing their mana through Talentium, they are able to bring forth much more power than normally possible. A lightning bolt becomes a pillar of electricity. A fire ball becomes a torrent of flames. A gust of wind becomes a howling tornado. Spells that once required preparation and incantations are now cast with the same ease as the most basic of magic. Due to this, Arts were created, a martial art that combined swordplay with magic. Physical strikes were synchronized with magical might, creating a complex waltz of the physical and the metaphysical. While the majority of Arts center around utilizing a single element, there have been a few rarer styles that involve illusions, or barriers, or buffs.

Most famous of these special Arts is the Six Winged Style of Mirelle Keep, in which one accelerates themselves to the extent where they can appear at six different places in a single moment.

On the other hand, Talentium strengthens their wielder's bodies to extraordinary levels. While the manner of 'strengthening' depends on the person in question, there is one similarity that unites all of them. The power they gain comes from their personal view of what 'power' is. Some become fast. Others become strong. Most strike a balance. A few become durable. Yet, unlike Arts, Skills is not a 'style', but a 'path'.

There is a saying amongst users of Sword Skills: It is not a path of selflessness, but of selfishness, an earnest wish paid for by using your body as a collateral.
Skills are not waltzes, not displays of eloquent skill, but an attack born from single-minded savagery, the willpower and ideals of a person crystallized into their personal special attack. Skills, in general, are considered singular attacks, each reality-warping strike meant to be a definitive blow.

Erantus Morcheba

A fat, pompous, yet only upper-middle class man, Erantus Morcheba has no noble blood in him, and works as one of the major slave traders under Lord Braxton. More of an auctioneer than a slaver, he enlists in the help of vampires such as Eiros Kiluma in his kidnapping of females from other nations. Recently, his successes have gotten himself confident enough that the man had caused quite a stir in Cykes due to his actions. He's fairly vain, but, despite his arrogance, one can't question his magical skill and his success in his career.
