"Still..." Ezrie muttered, shaking her head. "So what brought you all the way to Arcadia?" She suddenly realized it was a bit odd for him to be here, especially since UPenn had its own library. Probably filled with far more books than their own. As they drove, she started taking note of his features a bit more. He was actually kind of, well, hot.

Blinking her eyes rapidly, she looked away.

Ernie feels a light blush covering his cheeks- was she just... Staring at him? He certainly doesn't mind, but he must say it's not a feat he's used to, that's for sure. He's only had like... Two girlfriends in the past? Hm. "I'm only here for you." That came out differently than he anticipated, but Ernie barrels on anyway.

"I live in Bella Vista." Not the best town, but not the worst either.

"Woah...creeper alert!" Ezrie cried before laughing. She knew what he meant, but it sure came out wrong. "Bella Vista? Where's that again?" She didn't pay much attention to the neighboring towns; she had too much going on to worry about places she'd probably never visit. She sighed, suddenly aware of the silence.

"Got any good music?" she inquired, looking at the incredibly outdated radio.

Ernie's laughter choruses in with Elizabeth's- he tries not to be struck by how perfectly lovely her laugh is. Instead, he focuses on the traffic ahead of him. He can't tell if he's glad that she doesn't know where Bella Vista is- it's good that she doesn't know that he lives in a kind of weird side of town, but she might be a bit... Disappointed at the look of Bella Vista. He sure was. The student ponders it for a second. "It's about, I dunno, thirty minutes east of here?"

At the next stoplight, he fumbles in the storage container between the front seats- he wraps his hand around a mix tape, his favorite of all time. With a grin at Elizabeth, he slides it in the jack, the guitar riff of Bruce Springsteen's For You filling the car.

"Oh geez," Ezrie laughed when the music came on. She laughed even more when the chorus came. "You're a dork." When she finally stopped laughing, she decided to enjoy the rest of the song. By the end of it, she didn't even realize how much she was smiling. For once in her life, she didn't feel insecure. It was a strange feeling. But a good one.

When she saw Bella Vista, her smile only faltered a little bit. It was an...interesting town, to say the least. She suddenly wondered what sort of living situation he was in. If he was living somewhere off-campus, surely he had a roommate or something. "You, uh, don't happen to have someone living with you, do you?" The thought occurred to her only now, and she realized it would be quite awkward to have someone else around during their not-date.

Ernie's voice wasn't the best, but he sang along anyway; it was his mom's favorite before things went wrong, and for some reason, it wasn't tainted. Elizabeth's laugh helped too- a stray thought reminded him that god, she's really pretty when she laughs, man. Something tells him that this song will be associated not with his mother, but with Elizabeth, now. On this not-date. But just as The E Street Band fades out, so does that strange gold glow.

Jamie Brown's Vainglourious picks up in it's place, and Bella Vista comes into view. Run-down buildings, kids walking the streets with old clothing, eccentric stores lining the sidewalks. Not the best place on the outside, but the people know him here. He's okay- well, he's quite fond of it, though it comes off a bit... Rough. It's obvious Elizabeth thinks so too. He keeps his eyes on the road in front of him, trying to hide his embarrassment. "Does my little brother count?"

"Your little brother?" Ezrie asked. "What about your parents?" She had a feeling she shouldn't have asked, but her curiosity got the better of her. A million possibilities ran through her head, and she hoped the worst ones weren't it. She looked at the town, her observant nature taking over as she took in every detail. Already she could see that this little town was more than it appeared to be, and she actually smiled at the thought. She then turned back to Ernie as she awaited his answer.

"Inigo, yeah." Without even thinking, a small smile appears on his face at the thought of his younger brother. Yeah, Inigo was kind of a dumb name, and he was almost positive that his mom was drunk and crying about the Princess Bride when she gave birth, but... Inigo's Inigo, so it works. "The best kid in this whole damn town." At the next note about parents though, the smile wipes clean off his face, and his knuckles turn white against the steering wheel. "My parents are..." He takes a deep breath, regaining his control as he makes a left turn onto his street. "My parents are where they've always wanted to be." Ernie's not lying.

Ezrie didn't miss the dark expression and white knuckles, and now she really wished she hadn't asked. Deciding not to ask anymore questions, she remained silent for a few moments. "Inigo's a rocking awesome name," she said, trying to focus back in on his little brother. It was clear that subject made him happy. Then, adopting an accent, she said darkly, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." She laughed, remembering the movie and the feared six-fingered man.

A bit of awkward silence lingers in the place of where he should be elaborating about his parents. He likes Elizabeth, sure. But... Not yet. That's gonna take a lot of trust to get him to actually tell that story. The thought of Inigo does make him happy- a slight grin appears on his face. "It really is," Ernie laughs a little at her impression. "God, you should have seen him the first time he saw that... He's still psyched about it, and it's been months." The dark-haired man parks right beside the tree in front of his house. His house isn't bad, certainly, compared to others. It's a one-story, two bedroomed light brown ranch- no cracked windows or exposed piping. Quaint little thing.

"Wow," Elizabeth exclaimed when she saw the house. She had just a measly apartment, and he could still afford a house. Lucky. It wasn't the most extravagant thing in the world, but still. The land surrounding it was absolutely gorgeous. She could easily spend hours writing and reading here.

"So where is Inigo anyways?" she inquired as she opened the car door and stepped out.

Ernie stuffs the keys in his pocket, stepping out of the car- he was kind of shocked at Elizabeth's reaction, truly. He expected that someone who went to the college she did would... They would be pretty well-off, and this house would seem like shit. Obviously not. He can't help but grin victoriously.

"Inigo's at his friend's house, sleeping over across town." The two approach the bright red door of his home. "After all, it is Saturday night." He wiggles his eyebrows at her. Honestly, he never does anything on Saturday nights, and certainly did not expect to be bringing home a pretty girl, non-date or not.

"Which only means you didn't have any plans until you found my USB," Elizabeth said, smirking. Not that she had plans either except to write furiously and hopefully get started on the final touches of the book. Then she could truly get started on the sequel. Already a million ideas flew through her head, and it would seem impossible to some to sort them out. But she had a plan, and she had a feeling it would blow Ernie away.

If she ever let him read it, that is.

"Touche." Ernie turns to smile at Elizabeth before unlocking the door to his home, stepping in. It wasn't the most lavishly decorated- most of the appliances were pretty outdated. He and Inigo had painted the walls a heather grey that summer, and he thought they did a damn good job at it for people who aren't professionals, that's for sure. There's an old floral couch and a tiny, metal antique coffee table in the living room, covered in his textbooks. Ernie realizes now he probably should have cleaned up, but whatever. "Welcome to my, uh, humble abode."

Ezrie's eyes twitched only slightly as she saw the mess. Being herself a very organized individual, it appalled her to see such disorder. Still, it wasn't her house. She would just...somehow...someway...ignore it. "It's wonderful," she said, smiling. Besides the disorder, it actually wasn't half-bad. "So, cold cuts?" This would certainly be an interesting evening, that was for sure. But hey, at least she had an excuse to tell people if they ever found out. Not that they would--she wasn't exactly the most talkative of people.

Thank god the kitchen is perfectly clean- Inigo must have done his chores before going to his friend's house. For once. Ernie thanks his lucky stars; there's a pretty girl in his house, non-date or not, and he doesn't want to make a bad impression, right? "Yeah," He smiles at her, grabbing two of the old white glass-square plates from the cupboard and two knives, along with a loaf of white bread and condiments, before setting them on the old oak kitchen table and pulling out the chair for her. "Not gourmet, but I think they'll do."

"They'll do nicely," Ezrie said with a genuine smile. "As long as I didn't have to pay for it." She chuckled slightly as she sat down. "So, you want to know more about the marvelous adventures of Penny Thorne?" As she said these words, she was telling herself over and over that this wasn't a date. It definitely was not a date. Nope. Not. A. Date. It was a simple book discussion over dinner...at his house...alone.
