Seas of Silent Hope

"Alright... Stand firm, subject 3-4-9; codename..." Kestreel looked at the scientist. "Are you serious?" Muttered him and turned his head towards Ri again. "Codename: Elemental." Said him with a sight. "Okay, Elemental. This man is going to ask you some questions. Answer them as quick as posible." Ordered Kestreel. One of the other scientist steped forward, with another file in his hands and started to ask questions to determine if the component had the desired effects on her. "How tall are you?" Asked the scientist.

Ri mentally rolled her eyes at her new codename. She would have done it physically but that injection somehow caused her body not to be her own. She nodded slightly and stood firmer at Kestreel's instuctions. When one of the other peiple with him asked for her height she immediately responded with, "5'2" "

The doctor continued asking many trivial questions, some of them like her weight, how old she was, if she knew how to drive a car... Meaningless things. The doctor made a pause, wrote something on the file and looked at her again. "Nicely done... Just a few more questions." Said the doctor. "What is your name?" Asked him.

"Anna-mari Summerlynn." she replied to the doctor. She wasn't sure if that's the answer he wanted but her mouth said it before she had time to think.

The doctor nodded and continued with some other personal questions after writing some more things on the file."Do you have any family members alive or any who died recently? If that's the case, tell their name and relationship." Asked the doctor.

This question stumped her. She couldn't remember if she had any family. She tries to think harder and then it hit her like a freight train. The memories of her brother came pouring in. "I had a brother." She said.

The doctor looked at Kestreel and shook his head mildly. "Subject 3-4-9 turn around and stand still." Ordered him as one of the doctors gave him another injector loaded with more GNS. Then he injected it into her body and pushed her onto the bed. He returned ad gave the injector back to the scientist. "Gave her the food and water and let's leave her for a couple more days." Said him as everybody left. "And turn on the freaking heat! Is freezing in there!"

Ri didn't have time to react before he jabbed her with the second needle and pushed her onto her bed. she laid there until everyone had left. This time when the burning sensation came Ri silently cried. She didn't know what she had done to deserve this. I knew i had been right not to like this place she thought. The burning didn't last as long this time. Ri put the food they had given her on the table and left it untouched.

Two more days passed and the same people who came the first time came again. "Let's hope the chemical stuff have brainwashed her for good this time. This cold makes me sick." Said Kestreel before going into the room. The process was the same again. "3-4-9. Get up!" Ordered Kestreel.

Ri again got up but not as fast as before. She had been working on trying to control her body. Also she couldn't remember the last time she had eaten but she wasn't about to mention that. Instead she stood and waited for more orders.

The questions and the orders were the same again, the doctors took notes and Kestreel looked. "Do you have any family members alive or any who died recently? If that's the case, say their name and relationship." Asked again the doctor.

Ri couldn't remember what she had answered last time to make them angry and give her more "GNS" as they called it. She thought for a second. Ri didn't think she had any family. If i did they must not care about me to let me be taken to a place like this she thought. So Ri replied,"I don't have any family."

The doctors took more notes, really proud of their work. There were a couple of more important questions, but for now, they had already determinet the component had worked. "One more dosis and she should be good for phase two." Kestreel nodded, and when was given the injector he procced and injected her the drugs. This time he behaved more gently with her and war careful not to hurt her. Then they replaced the old food with new one and left. "Elemental, eat something or you will die of starvation." Said Kestreel before the door of her cell closed.

Ri listened and answered all of the remaining questions. She was relieved when it was finally over. But then she heard them say something about a phase two. Ri really was starting to hate needles. She watched as Kestreel was a little more gentle with how he injected her. It still hurt a little though. Before he closed the cell he told her to eat. Her body walked her over to the food. She ate but afterwards threw it back up into the toilet.

The next day the scientist appeared again. when they looked at her they noticed she was waek and malnourished. "Mmmm... Maybe we rushed things..." Said one of them. "Yes, her body is not accepting the component too well..." Replied the other. "Let's rethink the GNS again." Said one of them as they left the room. "Kestreel is going to hate coming back down here." Said one of them between laughs.

Ri didn't hear a word they said. She was asleep trying to lose herself in a sea of nothingness. She was trying to not feel the hunger pains. It was easier than being awake not just for that reason. Because of her not eating she felt lightheaded and dizzy whenever she tried to do something. Sleep was so much more peaceful....no kestreel, no dead brothers, no anything...

A couple of really strong nurses and some doctor and security staff appeared that night to inject her with the nutrients she would need to stay alive and strong enough to keep up with the tests. That went that way for almost a week, and one night the nurses appeared with the doctor, who also injected her with a newer version of the GNS. The next morning the doctors, guards and Kestreel appeared again. "Come on, let's get this over with." Muttered Kestreel before entering the room. "3-4-9. Get up!"

Ri could sense the doctors and nurses coming in and out to help her. She wanted to scream at them to stop. She didn't want them to help her stay alive she wanted to go to where her brother was. But finally about a week later she back in good health. She sighed and sat up staring at the wall on the opposite side of her room. She didn't notice when Kestreel came in until he spoke. She stood up immediately. Not even bothering to question why her body was reacting for her.

ANd once again, the doctor began with their questions and tests, taking notes on every detail. And finally, they got to the same question as always. "Do you have any family members alive or any who died recently? If that's the case, say their name and relationship." Said the doctor as everybody seemed eager to hear her answer.

This time around Ri didn't hesitate she simply replied with a single word. "No"
