Hair: As far as hairstyles go, Ryder's Ivy League haircut could be best described as "painfully mundane" or even "archaic" by modern day' standards. However, as long as his charcoal black hair allowed him to stay unconspicious among both the rich folk and society's underdogs alike, Ryder didn't really care.

Written Appearance: Ryder is a man with a lean and tall body shape which was almost completely devoid of any visible cybernetic extensions. His thin stature is further reinforced by his slender neck and a well-built face, whose angular jaw and pronounced cheekbones complemented his sharp-looking hazel eyes.

Despite his relatively young age, most of his body is covered with old scars and bullet wounds, which served as a sore reminder about the many times when he was a coin flip away from meeting the Reaper itself; thankfully, aside from a few broken ribs and a chronic pain in his right shoulder, most of Ryder's wounds didn't affect his physical condition in the slightest, and he is still able to dodge a well-placed punch without breaking a sweat.

As far as his everyday clothing is concerned, Ryder could usually be seen wearing an old black leather jacket, which was barely held together by a wide assortment of patches and stiches, with a faded gray hoodie right underneath, alongside with a relatively well-kept white shirt, dark gray utility pants and a matching pair of military boots. It may not be particularly fashionable, but at least they were comfortable as hell and cheap to maintain, so Ryder didn't complain.


The juicy stuff
Personality: If one were to visit Ryder at the Golden Crow night club back when its owner was alive, they would be greeted by a handsome and polite young man who was as deft at fixing drinks as he was with his words. It didn't matter if you were a stressed out businessman, a dead serious administrator working for a big corporation or just an upper class Student looking for some late-night fun, Ryder always knew what strings to pull to make you feel like the most important person in the room.

However, once the party was over and the club closed its doors, Ryder became a different beast altogether: gone was the cheerful guy who mixed drinks for a living, as it was now replaced by a cold and distant man who prefers to keep everyone at an arm's length. He always keeps his conversations short and to the point, and he has little patience for idle chat. And when a situation devolved into where words were not enough and violence was the only answer, Ryder remained calm and collected, his mind focused on finding an opportunity to avoid the conflict completely at best, or taking his opponent down by force at worst.

In any case, whatever Ryder's current disposition may be, there is one thing that both sides have in common: he is a cunning and shrewd individual who tries to be a good person to the extent of his abilities, even if his profession as a hired gun and (formerly) a part-time bartender usually conflicts with this goal. He tends to be bitter and cynical when talking with other people, but he still tries to see the good in everyone he meets (even if he may not show it in public). He considers himself a pragmatist, and while he would certainly rush to help his partners if the situation allows it, he is not afraid to leave them behind if it meant saving hundreds of innocent lives in the process.

Due to a severe childhood trauma, Ryder hates to be in non-violent physical contact with anyone, and while he learned to control his fear as time went on, he still feels extreme discomfort when someone touches him in any way or form.

Backstory:
For as long as Ryder could remember, Ryder spent most of his childhood growing in the streets. He could barely remember her mother, since she died when he was only a year old, and he didn't have a father to speak of. At a very young age, Ryder was "adopted" by a local gang controlled by a crackhead known as "The Mole", an unscrupulous maniac with an unhealthy attraction to young boys. It goes without saying that the following eleven years of his life were an absolute nightmare, and it wasn't until he was taken in by Aphostophius, the owner of an Upper Class night club and a well-known information broker who was known in the cyberspace by the name of "Threadweaver", when he could finally leave those days behind, let alone enact his revenge on the man who ruined most of his childhood.

Under the guidance of Aphostophius, Ryder began working as his personal errand boy, at first by cleaning up the club and fetching supplies from a nearby warehouse, and later he moved on to more "serious" jobs, such as tending the customers in the bar, stealing a particularly valuable piece of weaponry from a local gang or simply assassinating a particularly nosy cop who dared to meddle in the nightclub's affairs. Fortunately for Ryder, one of such jobs involved killing the Mole and his goons, the only hit job which he greatly enjoyed doing, as evidenced by the bloody mess that was found in his apartment by the police.

In return for his service, Ryder would receive food and shelter under Aphostophius protection until he reached adulthood, and later on a hefty sum of decas for every successfully completed contract with an extra for every served customer at the club. A fair deal, as far as Ryder was concerned, although he found it odd that an Upper Classman like Aphostophius would be so generous with a street urchin like him. Whatever may be the case, Ryder didn't complain nor dared to ask.

And so he spent his days working the old broker, picking up whatever odd job the old man had in offer...That was until Aphostophius was ratted out by one of his business associates and was killed by the law enforcement unit in his own club. And thus, after the nightclub was sold to some corporation and the "Threadweaver" information network was no more, Ryder was once more forced to find his luck in the streets at the age of nineteen, determined to find the person who betrayed his mentor.

The Juicier stuff

Powers:
  • Enhanced Agility: Ryder is much quicker and agile than a regular metahuman, being able to run, jump and dodge attacks two times faster and more efficiently than a regular metahuman. Likewise, his reflexes have adapted to accomodate his nimble physiology, allowing him to react much quicker to threats such as thrown objects and (in very extreme and very rare cases) bullets. However, what he excels in speed, he lacks in raw strenght: while Ryder can take on a group of unexperienced fighters or a single tough person with a couple of carefully placed punches, he has little to no chance at taking down larger groups without a proper weapon. Furthermore, since his muscles are geared towards speed rather than strength, his unarmed attacks don't pack quite as much power as a regular meta. And if that wasn't bad enough, there is a limit to how long Ryder can use his abilities before he gets exhausted and needs to recover, which roughly amounts to 5 minutes of running at full speed or 15 and a half minutes of actively dodging and evading attacks from multiple opponents.
    • Pros:
      • Can run, jump, swim and evade attacks at least 2 times faster than average.
      • Quicker reflexes in order to accomodate his speed-oriented anatomy.
    • Cons:
      • His strength is slightly lower than of a regular person due to a different muscle structure.
      • Can get exhausted easily if he uses his powers for an extended period of time.
Technological Augmentations:
  • Aside from having his implant set on a feedback loop by a hacker contact of his, effectively obfuscating his current location and health status from the law, Ryder has no remarkable augmentations to speak of.

@fatalrendezvous probably worth knowing, a bullet's momentum for a human isn't that bad. "Flung" is probably the wrong word for it; it's more of a shove if I remember correctly.

Hey guys, quick update! I've been having a crazy week (and my next week is about to get even crazier) so I wanted to clarify - signups close the 9th, 11:59pm PST. So basically, you have until the end of the day Friday. I'm trying to get to all questions ASAP and if I've left you in the middle of a conversation, you will be able to finish the CS even if the deadline passes. Hair: His hair is a dark brown, cut neatly around his ears. He keeps it neatly combed in public, but around people he's a little better acquainted with, it is not uncommon to see him with messy bedhead or mussed hair from running his fingers through it.
Overall Appearance: Flynn is 5'11 but often has a bit of a slouch when he's not paying attention, making him appear closer to 5'10. His skin is unusually pale for the lower class, but it is often smudged with dirt in any case. His eyes are a light brown and peer attentively at the world around him, taking in everything and giving away nothing. He often has a slight smirk, making him appear a bit more confident to others. He tends towards clothes that allow freedom of movement but still fit fairly closely, looser jackets, and sturdy boots, all in blue and grey tones.

Personality: Flynn is, in a word, manipulative. He takes in everything he sees and catalogues it for later use. He is only out for himself, and will do whatever it takes to ensure his survival, be it helping somebody or stabbing them in the back. He is constantly calculating his odds of survival based on what he observes and what he believes his options are, and if those odds change, so will his actions.

He doesn't appear to have any emotional attachment to others, only seeing them as threats or assets. Yet, for some reason, he is a bit of a flirt, and can't seem to stop himself from hitting on girls around him. He is aware of this and often uses it for his advantage, using it to build a bit of trust or to create false expectations about himself.

Backstory: Flynn and his twin sister Anderysa (Andy) were born to lower-class parents who had never planned on having a child, much less two. From the start, the parents struggled to support their children, and after the first few years, they could barely put food on the table for the two of them, let alone their kids. Flynn and his sister had to find food for themselves when they were children, and since their survival depended on it, they became surprisingly good at it. Namely, they took to thievery. Flynn distracted the marks while his sister stole unattended Packets or lifted trinkets she thought they could sell.

Eventually, their parents caught on to what they were doing, and their father quickly began pushing them to do more to put food on the table, especially his sister. They worked hard, but it was never enough, and one day, they messed up while trying to rob somebody of the upper class. They barely made it back without being caught, and despite the fact that it was a mistake anybody could have made, their father wasn't pleased. He took it out on them physically, especially Andy, and told them to do better. This went on until they were both about seventeen. That day, Andy's powers came out in explosive force, literally.

Flynn had put himself in front of her, trying to defend her from the beatings. She had been screaming, and suddenly her eyes glowed with a pale brown light. A fiery explosion appeared, centered on their father, but unfortunately, Flynn was too close to the blast. When the smoke cleared, he was missing his right arm, and the other was badly burned, due to him having held them up to provide some sort of shield against his father's fists. His sister was gone, but she had left what money she had been able to save. His mother was shaken but alive, and she rushed him to a black market doctor who was able to provide him with a basic replacement arm for the cost of nearly all their money.

As time passed, Flynn discovered his own metahuman abilities, and quickly made use of them to thieve. He was eventually recruited by a gang, and while he was annoyed about being tied to them, they did teach him a few things. Namely, they taught him some basic hacking and what he needed to maintain his replacement arm and the claws he would eventually get to make some use out of his left arm. His mother was gone one day when he came home, with the only clue as to why she left being a simple note stating that she couldn't watch him keep on putting himself at risk just to feed them, especially not when he had already been hurt.

Not long after that, his letter came. While suspicious of it, he knows that it's probably his best shot at staying alive.

Powers: Flynn can manipulate the density of his body and inanimate objects that he is holding, carrying, or wearing. He has fine-tuned control over it, allowing him to adjust density of different portions of his body. There are various techniques he commonly uses with this ability.
  • Untouchable: He can go nearly incorporeal in an instant, allowing attacks to pass through him or allowing him to pass through objects. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's one of his most commonly used abilities.
  • Flight: He can fly (in a manner of speaking) by lowering his density enough that he floats off the ground and shifting his weight to propel himself.
  • Strengthening: He can strengthen himself temporarily by increasing his density.
Noted weaknesses include only being able to adjust his density for a minute at a time max, being reverted to normal density immediately if hit with enough force or receiving a powerful electric shock, and not having very good control over his power around extreme temperatures. For example, in cold, his density will automatically increase, while in heat, it will automatically decrease. While this happens slowly, it can throw him off significantly and make him end up a different density than he intended.

Technological Augmentations:
  • His entire right arm, including the shoulder, is cybernetic and physically stronger than a normal human arm. Of course, he can't feel it very well, so he will not notice damage unless it affects his physical body as well.
  • He has Wolverine-style claws in his left arm that he controls with his implant, allowing him to sheathe and unsheathe them at will. Without any density shenanigans, they can't do much since his arm is damaged and he can't put much force behind them, but when his powers come into play, they can tear through flesh. However, his left arm has very little feeling in it despite still being mostly flesh and bone, and while he has wires monitoring the health of his arm, it is incredibly easy for him to be injured and not notice, especially if he overestimates the strength of his claws.

As a result, Saturnina herself is hardly trustworthy, as she'll let any lie slip off her tongue if it means getting what she wants. Deep down, she remembers the impossible expectations of perfection that her parents laid upon her. Now, she's absolutely terrified of allowing herself a single slip-up. She fights and claws her way through the sea of people that hardly give a damn about her, and she will do nearly anything to achieve her goals.


    Background
    The Avison family came from a long line of high-class jewelers, crafting some of the finest jewelry that money could buy. Of course, in the world as it is today, actual precious gems have long since depleted, and the few that remain are practically priceless. The Avisons refused to give up their lucrative business, however, so they became the first jewelry company to make synthetic precious gems that looked exactly like the real. Even the most talented of jewel experts could not tell the difference, and some even became convinced that the real gems were the synthetic ones. The Avisons had now cemented their status as the jewelry makers of the cyberpunk world.

    Now, in the world of upper class and elites, anyone who pretends to be anyone buys their (synthetic) precious jewelry from Avison. The family makes a damn fortune, but it's never quite enough to reach "Elite" status. That seems to always be reserved for the technological giants. Everything else is merely an accessory, including the Avisons.

    Saturnina's parents knew this hidden truth well. They knew, despite all their efforts, they would never pass that impossible threshold to gain "Elite" status. But nonetheless, they were determined to uphold the good name of the Avison family, and they demanded that their only daughter do the same. As such, Saturn was expected to be perfect; anything less simply never sufficed. The only problem...who can ever be perfect?

    She quickly learned that success earned rewards, and failure earned punishments. Her parents never did anything so drastic as to physically abuse her, for that risked compromising their precious image. But they found other ways. At best, they simply ignored her, pretending she didn't exist until she proved herself worthy of their attention again. At worst, they cast her out into the streets. Not that she ever ended up in the filth of the Lower classes, of course. She always had Upper class friends to take her in until her parents decided to let her back into the family. However, that didn't lessen the pain of being rejected by one's own parents time and time again.

    In a constant war to please her parents, Saturn never really learned how to work well with others, much less trust them. From her perspective, everyone always wants something from her, especially if they're being nice. To protect herself, she learned to play the game, so to speak. She followed in her parents' footsteps and became the manipulative perfectionist they always wanted her to be.

    She began working in her family's company shortly after turning 17, rising quickly through their own ranks due to her intelligence and pragmatism. When she turned 21, she broke off all contact with her family and started her own jewelry company, finally deciding to be her own person for a change. But their constant emotional abuse took its toll. Although she runs her own jewelry company now (simply called "Saturn Jewelry"), she still finds herself wanting to prove her worth to her parents, even if that means beating them at their own game.

  • Powers
    Shape-Shifting
    It's fairly self-explanatory. She's capable of shape-shifting into virtually any human form, male or female--provided that she's seen a person with the features before. Furthermore, she's capable of temporarily taking on the physical strengths of a specific form that she shifts into. This requires a great deal of mental exertion on her end, so she only ever uses the capability if she's in a pinch.

    Pros
    +As previously mentioned, no human form is outside her scope, as long as she's seen the features before and can recall them. It's easiest to transform into a specific person, but she is technically able to blend the features of different people.
    +Small shifts, like her hair color (that's right, her hair isn't dyed), require virtually no effort and can be sustained indefinitely. As a consequence, however, her eyes are always colored with her glow.
    +In order to take on more physical strength, she has to shift into a specific person who is (probably) physically stronger than her. It's essentially as if she gained their muscle mass.

    Cons/Limitations
    -She doesn't gain anything more than a person's strength, speed, and endurance (i.e. physical attributes). Any muscle memory, skills, etc....are "lost in translation," so to speak.
    -She can only take on a person's strengths for a short period of time, depending on how much stronger they are compared to her actual strength. Typical period is about 30 minutes.
    -She can only shift into other forms (without taking any physical strengths) for about half a day before tiring out. Multiple shifts within this period of time will significantly shorten it.
    -She cannot mimic a person's voice, so any attempt to actually steal someone's identity would most likely fail.


    Technological Augmentations
    +She wears augmented contacts that allow her several advantages, including infrared vision, night vision, and zooming (similar to binoculars for faraway objects or a microscope for close-up objects). She primarily uses them to study the quality of her synthetic jewelry, but they obviously have other uses as well.

Her flair for the dramatic might make her a ceaseless source of entertainment for those inclined to laugh at her, but for anyone with an inclination to order and restraint, she would be a faithful fountain of frustration.

At her core, Ritly is nothing more than a free spirit. To her, life is far too grand to be wasted on pessimism or complaining about what's wrong; she is a ceaseless optimist who sees every moment as an opportunity to be happy, to do something fun and enjoyable. She sees the world as a playground, somewhere for her to let loose and take in the sensory joys that existence offers.

While her ceaseless energy and unabated enthusiasm may serve to promote a healthy level of self-esteem and contentment with whatever her circumstances happen to be, she is thoroughly blinded to the harsher realities of life, and the seriousness of death. She may cheerfully jest about consequence and hardship with a note of sugary, half-hearted cynicism, but her young mind could never truly bring itself to understand that something unpleasant could happen to her.

Ritly wanders through her everyday life with a sort of dreamy certainty that everything will be alright; she would never suspect that someone might lie or try to take advantage of her, and she finds it difficult to believe that there are any truly bad people in the world. Even when faced with blatant cases of malice, she will find a way to excuse it in a way that diverts the blame from an individual. Perhaps more threatening to her well being, however, is the fact that she has always seen the universe as a benevolent place with her best interest at heart - circumstance is not something she could ever even begin to imagine turning against her.
Backstory:
Ritly's habit of seeking attention comes from a very obvious source - she was the seventh of seven Veldasian children, the youngest child through and through. Both of her parents were employed throughout her childhood - her father as the owner of a profitable upscale restaurant, and her mother the head chef. With such a steady, reliable source of income, money was never a concern, allowing her to grow up in a stable, comfortable environment isolated from the harsher realities of what life was like for the majority of the world.

Throughout her childhood and into her teen years, Ritly spent most of her time having fun in any way she could - from games to parties to every kind of binging imaginable, with an unhealthy dose of adrenaline seeking on the side. Much to her parent's chagrin, she fell into a habit of routinely shirking any responsibilities placed on her, be it in the form of anything from her education to simple household chores. Ultimately, the only thing she had any real passion for was having fun, and dragging as many others along with her as possible. Fortunately for her, they had little interest in forcing discipline on her when the majority of their other children were far more receptive of it, and clearly on a path to greater things.

As she grew older, Ritly began to find her way into just a tiny bit of practical purpose. While for the most part her family provided for her fully, she managed to stumble on an independent source of income for herself when the use of her powers began to manifest into its most useful side effect of enhancing the powers of others. Despite her utter and complete lack of ability to control it, she found that more than enough of her staggering number of friends and acquaintances were plenty willing enough to reimburse her for a shot at having her temporarily give a boost to their abilities.

The cash flow wasn't one to sustain itself, however. Within a few months, her consumer base began to thin considerably, up to her current state of being once again fully dependant on her family for basic support. Sadly for her, most of her friends didn't quite stoop to her level of shallow naivety and were thusly capable of realizing that the minuscule improvement they were only temporarily granted was hardly worth the decas from which they were permanently separated.

Ritly is able to temporarily copy or 'borrow' the superpowers of others who are in her near vicinity. She has no particularly special abilities herself, except to be able to make use of the abilities belonging to another person.

-She is able to make use of most superpowers and use them as her own, if in a slightly diluted form.
-A side effect of her ability may be what makes it most valuable - when she borrows, it seems to cause a slight enhancement effect on the person she is borrowing from; a boost, if you will. The nature of this side effect is somewhat unpredictable, and Ritly has never managed to exercise much control over it; sometimes the person might simply find it easier to focus and channel their emotions into their power, sometimes they may find a slightly higher degree of finesse comes with less effort, etc.

Cons
-She can only take on the ability of one metahuman at a time. If there are multiple aspects or applications of a particular person's ability, she can only take on one of these.
-Her use of the borrowed ability will be more limited than that of its original owner. This may manifest as additional downsides or inabilities, or simply a much greater amount of concentration and physical effort being required to exercise it.
-Being in the presence of a large number of metahumans at the same time is extremely overwhelming. The non-stop availability of different powers in close proximity easily distracts her, making it difficult to focus, and oftentimes causing severe migraines.
-Borrowing a person's ability is not equal to borrowing their experience in using and controlling it. As such, it can be incredibly difficult for her to make effective use of it, as she will always start at square one.
-Without a metahuman to borrow from, she is utterly powerless herself.
-The person she is borrowing from must remain close. If they get too far away (more than ~25 yards) she will lose her borrowed ability.

Technological Augmentations:
Ritly's level of augmentation falls very much in the category of every day carry; aside from the Crystal Implant stuck in her head when she was born, she can't lay claim to any particular additional technology being a part of her body.

Personality: On the outside he is sarcastic and cocky, not to the point where you wanna kill him, but to the point where he's not conscious of his own limits. He's very energetic and known for being a smartass, due to his brutally honest sarcastic nature he sometimes comes across as rude and arrogant. However on the inside Blake Harbors a heart of gold and want to keep everyone safe. He values friendship above all things to the point of taking offenses directed to his friends very personally, when his life or the life of strangers is in danger he acts smart and handles it with logic and by using his head however if his friend's lives are in danger he tends to act on impulse. He has a habit of stuttering when he's nervous or emotional.

Backstory: Blake's mother died in childbirth. When he was 6 years old Blake was diagnosed with ADHD. He grew up in a very violent neighborhood, he grew up with 2 older brothers. Rather then join a gang as steal things like most of the kids in his neighborhood he would spend most of his time by himself having his own kind of fun. He would always go to the junkyard grab old toys, scrap pieces of wood, rope etc.. then he would take them to his garage to make something out of them. He has made skateboards, guitars, and artistic sculptures out of the stuff he's used. Due to all the time he spent in the garage the kids in his neighborhood would think of him as weird or anti-social, and they started picking on him, he would constantly get bullied and his brothers would always get him out of the situation. It got to the point he couldn't go outside on his own because he was too scared. When he was 8 years old his oldest brother died in a car crash two years later his father committed suicide. His brother was adopted first, he spent the rest of his life in a foster home where he was diagnosed with anxiety and high functioning depression at age of 13. That's where he met his best friend a young dyslexic boy, named Julio Valdez. The two were room mates and they bonded over their similar backgrounds, Julio growing up in a stereotypical Mexican lower class neighborhood and being picked on due to his dyslexia and his love for affinity for punk rock music loosing both his parents to an armed robber. When they were 14 they decided to runaway from home thinking there was no other choice for them. Just two months ago Julio went missing and he's been looking for him ever since.

Personality:

As a young, esteemed member of the glitterati, Zuri does not disappoint when it comes to her personal mindset. She tends to approach her environments with a very lackadaisical, devil-may-care attitude. Even in the face of extreme human injustice, she remains largely detached, never allowing her feelings to become too largely vested in the entire affair. She is a distinctly aloof individual. Her personal life is filled with unpursued relationships and abandoned projects. It's not so much that she doesn't care about these things; simply, that she loses interest very quickly. Her life is also impacted by her mercurial temperament. Prone to rapid mood swings, her actions change abruptly on a whim, which is often disorientating for those who know her. Fortunately for her, it is not serious enough to affect her investigations.

While on the job, the best qualities of Zuri come to light. The young private detective has a quick eye and an even quicker mind; many a case has been solved simply by the small details she's been able to pick out, things those with a less observant eye would easily miss. She prides herself at being good at her work and what she does, without having to rely on her other skills.

Occupation:

While Zuri has no "official" career established yet, she serves most often in the role of a private eye or investigator. This job was spawned purely from sheer boredom and a curious interest in the murky justice system of the lower caste. It is a hobby more than it is her employment. Finding little to no need for the financial reimbursements, Zuri mainly takes on cases pro-bono. She is most often sought out to get information that police are either too lazy or too unskilled to get. And that is her calling card: information extraction. Even without her powers, she is known to be quite a formidable force in getting the knowledge that she seeks. Her assignments range anywhere from finding a lost child to spying on a cheating spouse for their estranged mate. The tasks she takes on are solely dependent on what she is in the mood for. Occasionally she works alongside law enforcement to help interrogate suspects, but she doesn't like to do it often.

History

Life was all too kind on Numazuri Tamba. Unlike the poor wretches strewn about in the lower caste, Zuri was born rich, a living and breathing machine made of decas. Her parents considered themselves great Renaissance-era artists of that time; her mother was a world-renowned architect, and her father was yet another glorified designer throwing his creations into the mix. To have a baby was simply another successful project for the Tamba name, and they reveled in it. Zuri was two years old when she began modeling. Appearing in limited commercials and holocam advents, she was a sensationalist star. It was widely thought that she would grow up to be a fashion model. But like most upper-class citizens, Zuri's parents were fickle creatures. When Zuri began expressing her boredom with such things at the age of 10, they quickly pulled her out of those programs and placed her in an academy with other children.

From there, her life would slowly transform into that of unpredictability. Every time someone would check in on her, it would seem that she was doing something different. Dating something new, living somewhere else, etc etc. Her time in college was a mess of flip-flopping through courses and majors. She had no idea what she wanted to with her life. But, unlike her more unfortunate associates, she had all the time and money to figure it out. The woman did virtually everything to structure her days. She threw wild parties and charity balls for aspiring politicians. She took on odd jobs, many jobs. Hell, she even got engaged at some point, but ultimately called that off as well. Nothing seemed to satisfy her. Nothing. Zuri was in the throes of wanderlust when a friend offhandedly suggested she volunteer as a tutor for lower class people. Some of the upper class people liked to do it as a sort of charity; their way of giving back, without having to spend a dime. Zuri ended up only doing it for a few months. However, the rampant crime and injustice she saw managed to peak her interest. Then, in the waning hours of yet another late night event, she had an idea.

It wasn't hard to become licensed as a Private Investigator. Bribing lawmakers had never been a difficult task--whether through money or her particularly remarkable eyes. Getting hired for jobs was the difficult part. In the beginning, she sifted through the many unresolved cases for her area and simply pursued those. Most were dead ends; some panned out, allowing her to build a small amount of repertoire amongst lower class citizens. But her biggest break did not come until she solved a case for one of the magmonious elite of their city. Her name was Alyse van Yolf, and her case was comically simple--to find evidence that her wife was cheating on her. Only it wasn't so simple. To step into the world of the elites was like dancing dangerously close to a fire's edge. Elites have even less concern for human life than the upper class do. Zuri found herself both carefully navigating Alyse's own short temper as while as keeping hidden from her estranged spouse, who no doubt would have done something terrible at finding out what she was up to. It was by sheer luck that she found the evidence as quickly as she did; and it was by God's grace only that the evidence proved Alyse's wife not guilty.

Alyse promised to repay her tenfold, but did not specify how. A clear answer never came. But a year after Zuri had already moved onto other things, an invitation came to her from Lyris Matrikt himself. She can only wonder if this is Alyse's own doing, or a pure stroke of luck.

Endowments
Hypnosis

Zuri has the unique power of mental hypnosis. Activated by eye contact, it allows her to put her targets into a pliable, trance-like state, rendering them docile for the short amount of time she holds them. She mainly uses it during interrogations and to neutralize violent individuals. Subjects of her hypnosis often have no memory of the experience after she's done.


Pros:

  • Can be used to extract information from various targets. Targets placed in the trance are unable to life.

  • Persons under the hypnotic spell are unable to move, rendering them ineffective and able to be apprehended, in the case of criminals.

  • The hypnotic state can also used as a soothing instrument to calm down a distressed party.

  • Zuri can command the individuals to sleep; how long they are unconscious varies on the person. Doing this specific command requires more energy from Zuri than normal.
Cons:

  • Zuri can only hold captive a person for up to ten minutes. Anything longer than that rapidly depletes her energy to the point of passing out.

  • The more turbulent and insane a person's mind is, the more difficult it is for Zuri to control her hold over them. A person with a particularly strong psyche can oust her from their mind altogether, resulting in damage to her own self.

  • The hypnotic trance is maintained so long as the eye contact between Zuri and the subject is not broken.
Augmentations:

GABA implant - a calming chemical enzyme released once a day into her blood stream to help regulate her wildly shifting temperaments.[/spoili]

Written Appearance: Numazuri is not blessed with the petite figures so many women desperately crave. Instead, she is made precisely like her father: stout, compact, with a sturdy build that lends itself to the natural power lying in her muscles. Her wide hips are about the only thing distinctly female about her. But unlike her father, she is not muscular in the least. Her femininity lies in the soft padding of flesh that covers over the sharp angles of her body. She is not a portly woman by any means, but she has a certain girth to her body that is common amongst people in her family. Her size, added to her above average height, commands attention before her words do. Even her walk exudes confidence.

When it comes to outward appearance, Zuri is quite simple in her tastes. She decided only the year before to shave her hair short, purely for convenience. The little makeup she wears consists solely of dark lipstick and mascara. The only thing she is particularly picky about is her clothing. The upper class is filled with bored rich persons desperate to make their mark on the world; Numazuri is not immune to that sensation. Her every outfit is picked to be as unique as possible, save for the days when she's working. But despite this, all her outfits tend to stay within the zone of being as comfortable as possible. She has yet to stray into the world of high heels and clothes that are pretty to look at but hell to wear.


Personal

Personality:

As a young, esteemed member of the glitterati, Zuri does not disappoint when it comes to her personal mindset. She tends to approach her environments with a very lackadaisical, devil-may-care attitude. Even in the face of extreme human injustice, she remains largely detached, never allowing her feelings to become too largely vested in the entire affair. She is a distinctly aloof individual. Her personal life is filled with unpursued relationships and abandoned projects. It's not so much that she doesn't care about these things; simply, that she loses interest very quickly. Her life is also impacted by her mercurial temperament. Prone to rapid mood swings, her actions change abruptly on a whim, which is often disorientating for those who know her. Fortunately for her, it is not serious enough to affect her investigations.

While on the job, the best qualities of Zuri come to light. The young private detective has a quick eye and an even quicker mind; many a case has been solved simply by the small details she's been able to pick out, things those with a less observant eye would easily miss. She prides herself at being good at her work and what she does, without having to rely on her other skills.

Occupation:

While Zuri has no "official" career established yet, she serves most often in the role of a private eye or investigator. This job was spawned purely from sheer boredom and a curious interest in the murky justice system of the lower caste. It is a hobby more than it is her employment. Finding little to no need for the financial reimbursements, Zuri mainly takes on cases pro-bono. She is most often sought out to get information that police are either too lazy or too unskilled to get. And that is her calling card: information extraction. Even without her powers, she is known to be quite a formidable force in getting the knowledge that she seeks. Her assignments range anywhere from finding a lost child to spying on a cheating spouse for their estranged mate. The tasks she takes on are solely dependent on what she is in the mood for. Occasionally she works alongside law enforcement to help interrogate suspects, but she doesn't like to do it often.

History

Life was all too kind on Numazuri Tamba. Unlike the poor wretches strewn about in the lower caste, Zuri was born rich, a living and breathing machine made of decas. Her parents considered themselves great Renaissance-era artists of that time; her mother was a world-renowned architect, and her father was yet another glorified designer throwing his creations into the mix. To have a baby was simply another successful project for the Tamba name, and they reveled in it. Zuri was two years old when she began modeling. Appearing in limited commercials and holocam advents, she was a sensationalist star. It was widely thought that she would grow up to be a fashion model. But like most upper-class citizens, Zuri's parents were fickle creatures. When Zuri began expressing her boredom with such things at the age of 10, they quickly pulled her out of those programs and placed her in an academy with other children.

From there, her life would slowly transform into that of unpredictability. Every time someone would check in on her, it would seem that she was doing something different. Dating something new, living somewhere else, etc etc. Her time in college was a mess of flip-flopping through courses and majors. She had no idea what she wanted to with her life. But, unlike her more unfortunate associates, she had all the time and money to figure it out. The woman did virtually everything to structure her days. She threw wild parties and charity balls for aspiring politicians. She took on odd jobs, many jobs. Hell, she even got engaged at some point, but ultimately called that off as well. Nothing seemed to satisfy her. Nothing. Zuri was in the throes of wanderlust when a friend offhandedly suggested she volunteer as a tutor for lower class people. Some of the upper class people liked to do it as a sort of charity; their way of giving back, without having to spend a dime. Zuri ended up only doing it for a few months. However, the rampant crime and injustice she saw managed to peak her interest. Then, in the waning hours of yet another late night event, she had an idea.

It wasn't hard to become licensed as a Private Investigator. Bribing lawmakers had never been a difficult task--whether through money or her particularly remarkable eyes. Getting hired for jobs was the difficult part. In the beginning, she sifted through the many unresolved cases for her area and simply pursued those. Most were dead ends; some panned out, allowing her to build a small amount of repertoire amongst lower class citizens. But her biggest break did not come until she solved a case for one of the magmonious elite of their city. Her name was Alyse van Yolf, and her case was comically simple--to find evidence that her wife was cheating on her. Only it wasn't so simple. To step into the world of the elites was like dancing dangerously close to a fire's edge. Elites have even less concern for human life than the upper class do. Zuri found herself both carefully navigating Alyse's own short temper as while as keeping hidden from her estranged spouse, who no doubt would have done something terrible at finding out what she was up to. It was by sheer luck that she found the evidence as quickly as she did; and it was by God's grace only that the evidence proved Alyse's wife not guilty.

Alyse promised to repay her tenfold, but did not specify how. A clear answer never came. But a year after Zuri had already moved onto other things, an invitation came to her from Lyris Matrikt himself. She can only wonder if this is Alyse's own doing, or a pure stroke of luck.

Endowments
Hypnosis

Zuri has the unique power of mental hypnosis. Activated by eye contact, it allows her to put her targets into a pliable, trance-like state, rendering them docile for the short amount of time she holds them. She mainly uses it during interrogations and to neutralize violent individuals. Subjects of her hypnosis often have no memory of the experience after she's done.


Pros:

  • Can be used to extract information from various targets. Targets placed in the trance are unable to life.

  • Persons under the hypnotic spell are unable to move, rendering them ineffective and able to be apprehended, in the case of criminals.

  • The hypnotic state can also used as a soothing instrument to calm down a distressed party.

  • Zuri can command the individuals to sleep; how long they are unconscious varies on the person. Doing this specific command requires more energy from Zuri than normal.
Cons:

  • Zuri can only hold captive a person for up to ten minutes. Anything longer than that rapidly depletes her energy to the point of passing out.

  • The more turbulent and insane a person's mind is, the more difficult it is for Zuri to control her hold over them. A person with a particularly strong psyche can oust her from their mind altogether, resulting in damage to her own self.

  • The hypnotic trance is maintained so long as the eye contact between Zuri and the subject is not broken.
Augmentations:

GABA implant - a calming chemical enzyme released once a day into her blood stream to help regulate her wildly shifting temperaments.[/spoili]
