[Samuel x Roman]

s a m u e l

"You're making it sound like I actually did something,"
Samuel laughed, but nuzzled his face into Roman's chest and hugged him back nonetheless, he'd never say no to some affection from Roman, "I'm very happy you enjoyed it, though"

Samuel felt all warm inside knowing he had made his husband happy, it was fantastic how much joy he could feel just knowing Roman was happy. He loved him so incredibly much it was almost ridiculous and bringing a smile to his gorgeous lips brought a smile to Samuel's own every time. He gave Roman a little squeeze and pulled away just a little, "I still definitely prefer it when you sing all of the songs, you should sing me some of them while we get to the hotel,"

Despite living in the same city Samuel had booked a room in a nice hotel for them that night. Ii was a little cheesy and it wasn't like they hadn't been able to go home and just enjoy the night in their own bed, which most likely was more comfortable anyways. But Samuel had figured that if they went home that would feel more like the end of the evening, while if they spent the night somewhere else the experience wouldn't be over until they came home. Which Samuel kind of liked the idea of. The point of the evening was them just spending as much time just doing something together as possible after all. One night for the two of them before all focus was back on the kids.

"I will be more than happy to oblige," Roman said with a sweet smile. After the overwhelming happiness he had been feeling all night, he would be more than happy to sing the songs for his gorgeous husband when they got to the hotel room.

The rest of the night was spent in a quaint little room of a nice hotel, with plenty of delicious food and snacks to share between them, and a movie playing on the TV. Whenever they paused it to do whatever, Roman would indulge his husband by singing the songs from the musical they had watched. Roman felt like a little kid warbling a song tunelessly in comparison to the performance they had just watched, but he didn't mind, because he was so damn happy.

It was nice to do something like this before the twins came along. Roman was extremely excited to welcome them into the world, but still, he knew he would slightly miss the free time they had. So, Roman made sure to enjoy the night with his husband before they had to go home, and before they started the next amazing chapter of their already amazing lives.

About a month of Roman near constantly singing hairspray passed, Samuel never really got tired of it and it was honestly quite a nice change from the normal Disney stuff he would sing idly as they went about their day. It was now February, and every day was basically spent anticipating the twins, they met up with Kaleb and Emina quite regularly, luckily their classes didn't start in a couple of weeks so they had the time to see them.

When Samuel's phone started to ring at about two the 13th of February it was about two in the morning and it woke him up from his sleep. At first he contemplated ignoring it, but then he realized they were waiting for a very important call. With that he strangled himself from Roman and practically shot up into sitting position and answered the phone without even looking at the caller ID.

"Hello, it's Samuel," he replied, voice way to on edge for someone who just woke up a couple of minutes ago.

"It's Emina, my water just broke, Kaleb is driving me to the hospital," Emina's voice sounded from the phone. Despite this being totally expected Samuel's eyes widened.

"Okay, okay," Samuel said, his heart suddenly beating very fast, but he willed himself to calm down so he could ask reasonably, "how are you feeling, is everything okay?"

"Yeah, don't worry," Emina said, she was sounding surprisingly composed, "I don't think it's a hurry but I guess you should maybe get ready to come to the hospital?"

"Yeah okay, we'll be right there don't worry about us, okay, I'm going to hang up and wake up Roman is that fine?" Samuel asked, slightly panicked.

"Yeah, We'll be there in a couple of minutes, so Kaleb will text you where we are and all that,"

They said their goodbyes and hung up. Once the phonecall was over Samuel sat there in complete silence and shock for a moment. Emina was in the hospital, today was the day his and Roman's second and third children would be born. Then he broke out of his silent trance and quickly turned to Roman, shaking life in him almost a little violently because he needed to wake up right in that moment, "Roman, Emina just called, her water broke, they are on the way to the hospital, you need to wake up,"

r o m a n
At first, Roman did not hear what Samuel said at all. His words just came out as an unintelligeable bubble of language, and for a moment, Roman considered just rolling over and going back to sleep because he could tell it was still very early and he didn't want to wake up.

But then it registered to him what his husband had actually said to him, and his eyes shot open and he sat bolt upright.

"You're joking." But of course Samuel wasn't joking — today was the day. The twins were being born within a matter of hours. They needed to get to the hospital right away.

Roman got up and threw on the first clothes he touched, which consisted of a pair of black knee-length shorts and one of Samuel's yellow shirts. Then, once Samuel was dressed, they woke up Harper and called around their friends until they could find someone who wasn't busy and could babysit. It was two in the morning, so it was hard, but Elliot was up late and therefore happily agreed to take the child. He also told Roman he was very happy for them, and that brought a smile to Roman's face.

They dropped off Harper and drove to the hospital straight away. Then, they followed the directions given to them via text from Kaleb and finally reached the delivery room where Emina was in labour. Roman looked at her and then at Kaleb, who was pacing back and forth and looking like he was going to hyperventilate. Roman then pulled his husband into the room and went straight to Emina's side.

"How's it going?"

s a m u e l

After throwing on a pair of sweatpants and the first T-shirt Samuel could find, a plain black one Samuel had no idea if he or his husband had bought, they were on their way. First to drop off and then to the hospital. As they arrived at the room they found a pacing Kaleb and Emina already changed into a hospital gown. Which wasn't surprising since they had taken a little while to take there despite hurrying.

"I didn't think I'd feel this way but this is actually kind of scary," Emina said, still in the surprisingly calm, unlike her boyfriend who was pacing anxiously.

Samuel put a hand on Kaleb's shoulder, a silent attempt to calm him down and urge him to try to support Emina instead. It was quite apparent that they both really were almost ten years older than he and Roman at that moment. It wasn't like Samuel was all that calm either though, he had only been properly there for Harper's birth and all was still something he found quite overwhelming. He was very much aware of the fact that the one who was going through the most in that moment was the woman giving birth. So they all needed to keep calm for Emina's sake.

"Do you still want us here?" Samuel asked, they had discussed the birth plenty of times, and Emina had told them she wanted them there for the duration of the birth, because it was their children, and she had said she wanted them to be the first to get to hold the twins, also because it was their children. But things could change in the moment so Samuel thought it was important to double check.

"Yes," Emina said almost immediately, the slight panic finally showing through in her voice, "I want someone who knows what's going on here, and you know what's going on after Harper, yeah?

r o m a n
"We're not going anywhere," Roman assured Emina, pulling up a chair to sit beside her bed and take her hand. He squeezed it between his own and gave it a gentle squeeze. "And I've been in the room for three births so far, so, hopefully I can be helpful to you."

"And I'll be here," Kaleb said, seeming to actually pull himself together now. He came and sat on Emina's other side and took her other hand. "I love you, okay? You'll be fine. I'm here for you."

"We all are."

In another few hours Emina was pushing. Roman found himself having to both comfort Emina and repeatedly calm down Kaleb, because he seemed to be on the brink of a nervous breakdown, but he managed to hold himself together for the most part and before they knew it, a midwife announced that the first baby had been successfully delivered and the other was already crowning. Roman looked up as she gently dried the baby off with a towel, and then when she turned back, Roman left Emina in Kaleb's hopefully capable hands and stood up to take the baby. Since they had already talked about the situation with the nurses and midwives, there was no confusion over whom the babies should be passed to, and so, before he could even ask which child this was, Roman was suddenly holding one of his two newborns and gazing at him or her with the most wonder-filled expression on his face.

"Congratulations, you have a little girl."

A girl. Stella. Stella Susanna Hemlock-Ortega. She had the softest-looking cheeks and thick, dark eyelashes and a small fuzzy covering of dark hair on the top of her head. Her eyes were closed right now, and she was clean, and she looked so peaceful that Roman stayed completely still so as to not disturb her. Stella. His first daughter.

He carefully cradled Stella to his chest and looked up just in time to see the midwife lift the other baby from Emina and repeated the process, cleaning the infant and then wrapping him in a soft blanket. She then handed him -- Eden, Eden Daniel -- to Samuel, with a small word of congratulations and a little smile, and then directed both the new adoptive parents to the corner so Emina could be fixed and cleaned up in peace.

Roman peered over at Samuel as he came close to get a look at Eden's angelic little face. He looked just as sweet and innocent as Stella and it was so hard to tell them apart but Roman didn't care because the twins were here. Their second and third child, their second son and first daughter, had arrived, and it seemed like nothing could ruin this moment.

He tore his eyes away from the babies to look at Samuel, and when he did his eyes were glossy with tears. "Stella and Eden," was all he was able to choke out.

The next couple of hours were not all that different from when Harper had been born, they didn't know Emina and Kaleb as well as they had Blake, but Samuel still felt a kind of responsibility to always make sure the younger couple was okay.

But the moment a tiny little baby was handed over to Roman Samuel's attention shifted over to them. They were told it was the girl. Stella. She was absolutely beautiful. Before Samuel knew it the second child had been born and he was handed Eden. He was equally beautiful, in fact, they looked almost exactly the same. Another thing that was the same was the fantastic feeling he had felt when holding Harper for the first time. Only this time, there was no need to really worry about the children's birth mother. She was being tended to by her boyfriend and the nurses and seemed to be okay.

"They look so much alike," Samuel stated the obvious, "Knowing me I'll probably mix them up all the time," Samuel chuckled softly, he tended to be a little scatterbrained at times, so he would probably have to put some effort into learning to differentiate them, at least when they were this mall, it'd be easier when they got a couple of months older.

He leaned his head against Roman's shoulder and then carefully continued to hold Eden with one hand while moving the other to very gently stroke Stella's little head, as he hadn't touched his daughter yet and really just wanted to do that once. His eyes were all wet and the moment was actually perfect, "I can't wait for Harper to meet them,"

r o m a n
Roman reached over and gently ran the back of his finger down Eden's soft little cheek. His skin was so smooth, and both the twins looked so peaceful as they dozed without a care in the world. Roman was filled with happiness, the same happiness he had experienced when Harper had been born, and he couldn't wait to take his two new beautiful little children home and introduce them to their older brother.

While Emina was in the shower, Roman and Samuel filled out all the relevant paperwork, and carefully fastened their babies into the baby carriers they had brought in when they had come in initially. By this point, both the twins were awake. Roman could now see that Eden had slightly smaller eyes than his sister, and Stella's hair was a little thicker, but they were still almost identical and Roman had to look really hard to notice these small differences. Still, he didn't mind at all, because it was just one of the many things that Roman loved unconditionally about his and Samuel's gorgeous little twins.

Emina and Kaleb came back out into the main room once Emina was all cleaned up. Kaleb seemed entirely in control of himself now, which was good, because Emina needed that. The young woman was helped into bed and once he was sure she was comfortable, Roman came over with little Stella in her carrier, sat down in the chair and put the carrier on his lap, so the birth parents could see the baby if they wanted to.

"I ... I don't know how we can thank you,"
Roman said to the two of them, and his voice was thick with emotion. He looked at them both with nothing but gratitude in his eyes, then down at Stella, who was gazing up at him, and over at Eden and Samuel. "What you've just done for us ... it's really beautiful. You're both absolutely amazing people and I know if you decide to have more kids in the future, you'll be absolutely incredible parents."

s a m u e l

"It's really no problem, this was what we truly wanted to do, we're just happy they'll be with loving parents like the two of you," Emina said, voice a little tired, but she didn't sound upset or unhappy.

"But we probably won't be parents for a while yet," Emina chuckled tiredly, it was quite obvious, otherwise they wouldn't have decided to give the two little ones up. But Samuel assumed that the point was that she was tired, because she looked very tired. Which was understandable. She peered over little at the two babies, there was a soft smile on her face and curiosity in her eyes, "At least we know our future children will be very cute,"

Samuel smiled at her, with the way she was talking he wasn't even nervous about Kaleb and Emina changing their minds about this, they clearly knew what they wanted and two children in that moment weren't it. That is what Samuel and Roman wanted for their little family.

"They will be," Samuel agreed, "Roman's right, you'll both be really good parents when you're ready,"

"Thank you, for saying that, it's not what we want right now, but some day it'll probably happen, it means a lot to hear that." Emina smiled first at Samuel, Roman and the kids and then back at Kaleb, probably reflecting on their own future.

r o m a n
"It really does," Kaleb agreed softly. His eyes were flickering between the twins, as if he was absorbing as much of them as he could before Roman and Samuel took them away. He didn't look begrudging about that, though. No, on the contrary, he looked happy and was holding Emina close. "And it'll make it easier on us, knowing that they're with the best parents in the whole entire world."

Roman lit up with a big smile, because it truly meant a lot to know that two relative strangers held them in such a high regard. Emina and Kaleb were absolutely amazing people, and Roman could not have been happier with the adoptive parents who had chosen them to take in their children. It felt like such a blessing and Roman never wanted to let that go.

Roman and Samuel happily took the babies out of the carriers so Kaleb and Emina could interact with them before they left. Roman noticed how they both, but Kaleb in particular, gave the babies smiles and touched their skin gently but refrained from any other affection, like kisses or cuddles. Roman guessed it was because he didn't want to get attached, and that was fine. Besides, it wasn't like they would never see the twins again -- they had agreed that they would collect breastmilk from Emina every now and then while the babies were still very young, and if they wanted to see them at any time or meet them when they were older, Roman and Samuel would be more than happy to facilitate that. But it would feel wrong to them all for Roman and Samuel to just whip the babies out of the room without giving the birth parents the opportunity to truly interact with them first.

"Thank you, again," Roman said when Kaleb and Emina had had enough and the twins were in their carriers. "You call us if you need absolutely anything, alright? It's the least we can do for you."

s a m u e l

"Yeah we'll keep that in mind," Emina said, "We'll probably call tomorrow or so just to check up on you, even if everything is fine,"

"Yeah," Samuel smiled warmly, "That's absolutely okay as well… And thank you, really, thank you so much,"

And then all that was left was going home. The drive felt too long because Samuel didn't want to stop giving all of his attention to their two little babies. But eventually, they got home anyways, and they could carry their two little children into their home, Samuel took Stella this time and allowed Roman to carry Eden, he really wanted them to bond to their children equally.

Poppy yipped excitedly when they arrived, and Malfoy curiously walked around them, Lola was off somewhere and was obviously less of a disturbance than Poppy so they temporarily put the dog and the cat into another room while they got seated in the couch, sitting very close, holding one baby each.

They called Evan and London around that time, updating them on the wonderful news, telling them the babies were healthy and asking them if they could be nice and pick up Harper, with the nice bonus that they would be the first out of family and friends who would get to meet Stella and Eden.

When the door opened Samuel and Roman had just fed the little ones not too long ago and both babies were awake, but also seemingly calm and a little sleepy again. Both their eyes, Samuel had noted had a very similar shade of a gorgeous blue, they weren't as grey as Harper's at all but similar in tone as they were a quite light blue. Samuel thought the colour was just as adorable as Harper's and he found it a little amusing that all of their children's eyes matched, but that none of them shared their eye colour with their dads. It wasn't unexpected, at all and Samuel didn't care, he just liked the idea of the siblings sharing a feature.

"We let ourselves in," Evan's voice came from the hallway.

"We're in the livingroom," Samuel replied and soon the Johnsons plus Harper came walking in. Allison was walking with Harper's hand in hers, she looked incredibly curious but stayed calm, clearly old enough to realise both that these were infants who would be distressed by her being too excited and that this really was Harper's moment. Stella and Eden were her little baby cousins, but they were Harper's siblings and from that day onwards Harper was a big brother.

Roman couldn't keep his eyes off his little children. Both of them were so beautiful and angelic, like little cherubs with their chubby cheeks and soft skin. They had fed the twins with bottles of breastmilk they had obtained before they had left Emina and Kaleb, and, now content, the two little ones seemed to be about to nod back off to sleep. Roman gazed at them adoringly the whole time, finding himself almost unable to look away.

London and Evan showed up with Allison and Harper after a little while, and finally Roman looked up from Eden's sleepy little face to greet the newcomers. "Hey," he said to them softly, smiling at his sister, brother-in-law and niece. Then his eyes landed on his elder son, and he grinned and beckoned him over, careful not to disturb Eden in his arms. "Harper, we've got some little people we'd like you to meet."

Harper came over and sat in the small space between his dads. He was glancing between the two infants with an expression of curiosity and wonder on his little face. "Twins?" he guessed in a soft voice, seeming to understand that he had to be a little quiet.

"Yes," Roman said with a soft and happy smile. "These are the twins. This is Eden, he's your little brother, and the one Papa is holding is Stella, who is your little baby sister. Say hello."

"Hewwo Edie," Harper murmured happily, waving at the baby in Roman's arms before turning to one in Samuel's. "Hewwo Stewwa."

Harper was so adorable that Roman almost melted. He looked at London, who was sitting next to him and leaning on his shoulder so she could look at Eden, and smiled at her. "They're gorgeous, aren't they?"

"Absolutely. They've got the prettiest little eyes -- congratulations, guys, I know how much this means to the both of you."

s a m u e l

"Yeah, we're all very happy for you," Evan said softly, glancing over at the little babies with a soft smile, he had joined to sit on Samuel's side and Allison had sat down in his lap, though some ids would maybe start to avoid that at her age Allison clearly loved her parents too much to start feeling embarrassed about being affectionate with them and she would probably stop sitting in their laps when she actually grew too big for it.

"Thank you," Samuel smiled. Looking at the baby in his arms he could tell that she slowly seemed to be falling asleep, her eyelids looked heavy as she blinked her stunning blue eyes, Glancing over at Eden he seemed to feel the same. God, they were so adorable and Samuel just knew he loved them so much. It was a little weird to think that because they had just been with them for a couple of hours, and he was pretty sure a lot of people would argue they wouldn't feel that way because they didn't have the biological bond. But that wasn't true, it was still their children and just like with Harper Samuel felt an instant bond with their little babies.

"I'm so jealous of Harper, he's gonna get to see them every day and they're so cute!" Allison said sweetly, her gaze never leaving the babies.

"Aww you know you can come over and visit whenever, sweetie," Samuel said.

"Yeah I know, but still," Allison laughed softly.

Samuel knew being an only child could be lonely sometimes so he was more than happy to have Allison over whenever she wanted so she could be close to her cousins at least. Of course, these first couple of months would be hectic, very hectic. They would have two little infants to take care of and they could not forget about their eldest son who still was a tiny little toddler. But Somehow Samuel just looked forward to it. It was going to be tough but also worth it, he just knew it.

Over the next month, Roman and Samuel worked to adjust to have three babies in the house instead of just one. It was hard, that was impossible to deny, but god, Roman loved it. He didn't mind taking turns with his husband getting up in the middle of the night to feed the twins -- they had them on slightly different schedules, so Eden would wake up a little while before Stella, just so one parent wasn't swamped with two babies. He didn't mind taking a little while off work, either, because as much as he loved it, Samuel needed to be at his job more consistently and Roman had full control over when he worked, so it just made sense for him to take time off.

Of course, they couldn't do it all themselves, but their friends and family seemed more than happy to help. London was over as much as she could, and Elissa and Matthew dropped in before or after work in order to say hello and maybe help with the feeding. Elliot also had a lot of free time so sometimes he and Tilly stayed so late they just crashed in the spare bedroom. Cameron had also come to visit once or twice since the twins' birth, though he didn't stay very long, but Roman was just happy to be able to catch up with him.

Now, Stella and Eden were just over a month old, but tonight they were going to be babysat by London and Evan, because Roman and Samuel had a very important night planned. Today was, somehow, against all odds, their ten-year anniversary. It seemed almost unbelievable. Growing up, Roman had always craved true love, but since Bella, his relationships had never lasted long and if they had, they were incredibly toxic, so he had sort of given up on the idea for a while. He knew he wanted a spouse and to have beautiful children and live happily but he had never really known if and when he would find that.

But then Samuel had walked into his life as the furthest from someone Roman would date, and yet had somehow ended up as the love of his life. They were married, they had three beautiful children and everything in their lives were just clicking together perfectly. They were meant to be, and Roman could not have been happier.

So tonight, they had a beautiful evening planned. London and Evan were taking the twins and Brooklyn and Chelsea had already picked up Harper. Usually Roman would want to keep all three of them together so they could bond, but he knew that London and Evan would simply get too overwhelmed to take all of them, so their eldest son had gone to Brooklyn and Chelsea's.

Currently, Roman was dressed in a sharp black suit, with a crisp lilac dress shirt and a black tie, though he almost never wore ties because they were stupid. He had taken out all of his piercings, sans his nostril ring because it was the most tame, and had decided to go with no makeup, because they were going to an extremely fancy restaurant and Roman didn't want his and Samuel's night to be spoiled by dirty glares from the waitstaff and other customers. His hair was also nicely combed and he was making sure that Stella, who was in his arms, didn't dribble on his clothes.

Samuel hadn't seen him in all his formalwear yet. Roman stood next to the bathroom door and knocked on it before calling out to his husband so he could hear. "Hey, do you think Edie will want his doggie toy or his kitty one? Just so I know which one to pack in his bag. He's still asleep but Stella is trying to eat my finger."

s a m u e l

"Just pack him both?" Samuel called out from the bathroom. "I think it's better cus then he wont get upset about the other one not being there, as long as we get both home it wont be a problem,"

Now that they were fathering three children it was interesting to see that even when they were really tiny their children had very distinct personalities. Stella was a little more independent then Eden, as independent as a baby could be that his, she could just be left without attention for a little while longer, while Eden was a little quicker to tears, and they both were distinctly different from how Harper had been. It was interesting and Samuel loved every new experience they had with their babies.

He did some finishing touches in his hair, recently he had been trying his best to style it some more in his day to day life, he liked how it looked but frequently had to ask Roman for help. He felt like he had done a pretty good job today though, and altogether he felt good about his outfit choice. He was wearing a dark grey suit, with a light grey and white checkered dress shirt underneath. Instead of a tie, he had opted for a bow tie, like he had on their wedding day, though this one was green and white striped. His socks matched the bowtie.

He had to look good because today was his and Roman's anniversary and they had an amazing night planned, which started with a fancy restaurant. Samuel was excited and had been excited all day. Ten years. It was huge. Samuel loved Roman more every single day and he loved their life and the kids and everything. Never did he think this would be where he ended up but it was and he wouldn't trade it for the world.

Samuel stepped out of the bathroom after some final fussing over his hair just to find Roman standing there looking all gorgeous. It wasn't the first time Samuel had to stop himself for a moment just to take I his husband's beauty. He looked stunning, a little more plain than normal without his makeup and piercings but seeing him all dressed up like this was such a rare sight that Samuel would enjoy it no matter how he had styled the rest of his look.

"You look gorgeous,"
Samuel said, a bright smile on his face, he stepped closer and kissed Roman's shoulder and then looked over at their little baby daughter, "Sweetie, don't eat Daddy's finger, he needs them," he kissed her forehead and then headed over to pick up Eden, give him a little kiss on the forehead as well before he put him in his carrier, "Are we set to go? The twins got everything they need in the bag? We haven't forgotten anything,"

Samuel had to admit he was a little worried, not because he thought Evan and London couldn't take care of their babies, but just because they hadn't really had anyone babysit them yet, so this was the first time the babies would be without either of their dads.

Samuel came out of the bathroom looking absolutely gorgeous and Roman couldn't help but stop and stare, taking in his husband's beauty. He knew that a lot of people, Samuel included, thought that Roman was out of Samuel's league and Samuel was punching above his weight. But Roman couldn't disagree more. He wholeheartedly believed that Samuel was the most beautiful person on the face of this earth, and there was nothing that anyone could do to change Roman's mind on the topic.

"You look stunning, too, and it's sort of funny because you literally look gayer than me right now but I love it." Roman laughed and followed Samuel over to Eden's carrier so he could press a kiss to the top of his husband's head. He was so happy in that moment that he doubted anything could ruin his mood.

Roman went and packed both of Eden's plush toys and then set Stella in her carrier so she could be comfy while they waited for London and Evan to come and collect them. In not too long at all, the Johnsons arrived and Roman and Samuel kissed their children goodbye and were congratulated by the other two adults for their anniversary. It all brought a huge smile to Roman's face, something he suspected would be a common sight throughout the evening.

Soon after the Johnsons had left with the twins, Roman and Samuel got into their car and Roman drove them to the restaurant. It was in the most luxurious area of the Melbourne CBD, the type of restaurant you had to book weeks in advance and was absurdly expensive. They put their coats in the coatroom and were then lead to their table by an exquisitely dressed hostess who was dripping with expensive jewellery. The restaurant itself reminded Roman of the ballroom in Titanic -- the walls were gold and the ceiling had a beautiful painting of cherubs and angels on it. There were also several crystal chandeliers and a live band playing exquisite classical music in the corner.

"I feel like a princess," Roman said prettily as they sat down at their small table for two, which was off to the side of the room, out of the way but not totally isolated. The tablecloth was a royal red colour and the cutlery was all spotless gold, and the handles featured elaborate carvings There was a fancy candelabra on the side of the table with real candles and even the napkin rings probably costed a small fortune. A waitress, who was dressed in an immaculate uniform, came and set a basket of gourmet garlic bread on the table before them, along with two glasses of water -- the champagne would come later.

"Thank you," Roman said to her. When she had left, he turned to his husband with a big smile on his face. "Do you like it? I know we picked it together but still."

After some very hard goodbyes to their babies Samuel and Roman made their way to the restaurant that they had booked a table at ages ago. Samuel kept looking around, trying to take in all the details. Roman was right, you did kind of feel like some kind of royalty being there.

"Yeah it's really cool," Samuel said, cool was probably not the best word to describe it but it was a very him way to describe it. In reality it quite gorgeous, all the decorations and designs choices screamed fancy, it was the kind of place Samuel as a nervous person both felt a little nervous being in, afraid that he'd do something wrong, but also was excited to get to experience. And he bet the food would be really amazing as well. Samuel firmly believed that things didn't need to be fancy or expensive to be good, but it was still fun to experience something like this and the restaurant surely had dishes that were pricier because they contained ingredients the normal kinds of restaurants Samuel and Roman went to for dates.

"I'm really excited to try the food," Samuel said happily and as he did he decided to start going over the menu, specifically the starters, since they were there anyways, they had decided to do the full experience and have a three course meal, though Samuel had specifically requested they'd take it a little easy with the dessert. The way they had planned the evening was that they'd first have this nice dinner together and then they had planned out one event each, as a surprise for the other. Samuel couldn't wait to show Roman what he had planned.

"Do you know what you want?" Samuel asked, like always, because he tried to always order another meal than Roman so they could taste from each other. Which reminded him that maybe the place they were at was to fancy for it, "Oh shit, do you think it's acceptable to like share from each other's plates in a place like this? I'm gonna be super sad if I don't get to taste your food, I always do that,"

r o m a n
"I mean, probably not, but no one is going to stop us and if they try I'll fight them with this candelabra." Roman was joking, but he wasn't going to let anything ruin their night. This was their ten-year anniversary and everything had to go smoothly and perfect. And besides, it was a tradition of theirs to allow the other a small taste of their meal, and considering this was their anniversary, Roman wasn't going to change that just because they were in some fancy place.

Roman ended up choosing a shrimp cocktail for his entree and a quail dish with lemon seasoning and roasted vegetables. He let Samuel choose the dessert, because when it came to sweet things he was a lot less fussy and would probably eat almost anything put in front of him. When their menus were taken Roman picked up a piece of garlic bread and bit into it as he gazed at his husband affectionately.

"So, ten years ago, did you ever think you'd be gay as fuck, sitting in a fancy ass restaurant with your gay as fuck husband on your ten-year anniversary, with three little kids to come home to?"

Samuel ordered some fancy salmon dish for his main course and just something random and interesting sounding for his entrée that he suspected would be somewhat close to a salad, but with fancy Italian ham. For desserts he picked a chocolate mousse and raspberry dish for them to share, knowing Roman would like it.

"Yep, I totally did, I secretly had this all planned since before I met you, a hundred percent," Samuel joked and grabbed Roman's hand to hold it on the table.

"You know, I couldn't even imagine what my life would be like in ten years back then?" he said a little more seriously, but still not in a sad tone or anything,"Because back then I didn't feel like I had another option than to get married to a woman and all that, so like I couldn't even imagine it because it felt so off for me," Samuel explained, conversationally, it was so long ago at this point that he didn't feel too bad about it. He had the life he wanted now, there was no need to get hung up over worries he had had ten years ago.

"I'm glad this is where I am now though, like I didn't know it back then, but this is exactly what I want," Samuel smiled, "What about you, did you expect to marry someone from the soccer team and have three wonderful children with them, or did you expect someone a little edgier. Am I ruining the aesthetic seventeen-year-old you had in mind for his future?"

It was crazy to think that Samuel was once convinced he was going to marry a woman. It was even crazier to think that if Roman hadn't found him and saved him from his father, he probably would have ended up doing just that, and that was honestly a scary prospect. Roman was so glad he had found Samuel when he had. Otherwise, the beautiful man sitting before him would be lost to the void without ever having the opportunity to emerge, and Roman had no idea what he'd be doing with himself.

"Yeah, honestly, seventeen-year-old Roman is pretty pissed because his aesthetic is out the window,"
Roman joked with a laugh. "Nah, I'm kidding. Honestly, when I was seventeen I didn't know what I wanted in terms of a relationship, because it was so soon after Indie, and I was just kind of okay with sleeping around at that point because I didn't want to be committed to anyone."

It was weird to reflect on this Roman, who had nothing to tie him down and no one to really make him happy. It was almost like he was looking at another person, but Roman felt it was important to be able to consider how much he had changed.

Their entrees came and Roman thanked the waitress before continuing. "Like, I knew I'd probably enter another relationship soon after that but I didn't think I had it in me to let it get that serious? But then I found you, and you flipped everything on its head, and now I'm the happiest man alive with the most beautiful husband and the most perfect children." By this point, Roman was smiling, his teeth sparkling and his eyes filled with love. "So, I'm very glad you came into my life when you did."
