Prologue; A Long Ride
So. Remnant. We've all heard of it, right? Composed of Vacuo, Atlas, Mistral, Vale, it's primary power source being that of dust, which pretty much everything nowadays can be run on. Man and Faunus alike filling the place to the brim, creating great things and working together to keep peace.
Sadly, things can't always go as planned.
Humans aren't the only inhabitants of the kingdoms, and even had they been, not all humans are good. Creatures of Grimm, the result of all things dark and creatures that feed off of negativity, share the lands with the people. By nature, not exactly the 'maker of great things' type. And humans, well... Humans get greedy. Want more than we're born with the right to have. But I suppose I'm straying from the point here.
Y'see, Vacuo, Vale, Mistral, Atlas- they aren't the only kingdoms around. Across the world of Remnant, many more kingdoms lie in wait, hidden a little better from prying eyes, but just as civilized and sharing the same goals as the kingdoms we know. Peace, tranquility, people getting along and working towards a better goal.
You might be wondering why I'm tellin' ya all of this. Well, let's just say that the heroes of this story ain't really regulars to Beacon, and they ain't about to be, after it's fall. So I figure I may as well enlighten you on where we're beginning... And where it'll hopefully end.
Let's see, first off... Ah, that's right. Terra, home to Annwn. Nice place, if ya ask me.. Aside from the discriminatory people. Warm little kingdom with seemingly kind folk, lots of vegetation, and even a few springs if ya look in the right place. Cept, this kingdom ain't really quite as quaint as it seems. Discrimination against Faunus is especially strong here, and the place is currently in a bit of a spat with, well...
Nysa. A little on the colder side, with a few mountains scattered around here and there. If you're smart, you'll remember to pack your coat and gloves if you ever find yourself headed there. This is the place you're most likely to find Faunus, and a hell of a lot of 'em, at that. Not all of 'em exactly wanna be there, but, well, if it's cold or be patronized by others, I don't necessarily blame 'em. You can take a guess why there's a war between the poor fellas and the diehards in Terra. Their academy's Aztlan.
Anyways, movin' on, next up we've got... Ah. Ashea. Probably the smallest of these guys, but definitely the nicest. Pretty tame place, with a much more pacifistic view in general than their brother and sister kingdoms. But they know how to fight when it matters, and they do have a nice academy to prove it. Eden, they call it.
Finally, Drayce, home of Zion academy. Not really the ideal place, but that's just my opinion. Lot's a crooks like to hang around here, and it's a bit dark and dreary for my taste. But hey, they get by, and the slightly high crime rate just seems to draw 'em closer. Which makes for good teamwork from the guys y'see there.
Anyways, now that ya know about the kingdoms, I guess it's your time to shine, kids. This's where the story begins...
-----
It was a day like any other, for most, in the lesser-known continents of Remnant, tucked away in shadows. While their communication system wasn't exactly ideal, not able to reach far enough to receive signals from the other, more popular, kingdoms. Something that might lead one to assume that these kingdoms were even more in the dark than they were. But, well, let's just say that Drayce, Terra, Nysa and Ashea were more in the know than was ever let on. How, you might ask?
Well. That was perhaps a story for another day.
Now? Well, let's just say today was not a normal day for a small portion of the overall population of these kingdoms- these people mostly being of a younger age. For them, today marked the beginning of a new era- and they weren't necessarily the only ones, as a certain headmaster stood leaning against a window, staring out of it with hands casually rested on the sill. A deep breath entered through his nose, exhaled only when a few simple words parted his lips. "Do you require something, Miss Platnum?"
Evidently not entirely expecting that the man was aware of her presence, the blind woman merely gave a small tilt of her head in the direction she believed him to be in what appeared to be a small nod of greeting. "...Sir," she greeted, stoically. "We've received word from Captain Ignatius and Lieutenant Vaiva. Their eta is two days from now. All students signed as arriving by aerial escort are accounted for," she explained, pale blue eyes staring in her boss's direction. In return, the man smiled, slowly removing his hands from the windowsill and straightening up, shoving his hands casually into his pockets.
"Good. Let them come."
"Sir?"
Slowly, the man turned, offering the blind woman a smile. "...You're dismissed, Miss Platnum. Thank you for the update."

So, this was it, then. Today was the day that boys and girls, faunus and humans, sixteen and eighteen-year-olds alike departed for their first day at the famous Eden Academy from all across the continents. Many chose to become a huntsman or huntress to better the world, others? To escape an undesirable fate or place. Hell, some do it for less than savory reasons, aiming to strengthen themselves only to turn their backs on the light that brought them all together in the first place.
Regardless, this was where you all were, now- aboard an impressively large aircraft, accompanied by many of your fellow first-year students on their way to the same academy. Perhaps some of the faces were recognizable, perhaps not, but regardless, it was a given that these were all people you would come to be familiar with over the next four years at the academy. Whether you liked it or not.
That said, luckily, the ship at least allowed for plenty of space, even luxurious enough that it was split into different segments. The main compartment was a sort of lounge-like area, but there were additional spaces, such as a few cabins that would have to be shared come nightfall, considering that the journey would last a couple of days. Then there was a small area with entertainment such as a few games and books. Aside from that, there was the captain's pit, but that was obviously off limits.
In any case, luckily, the space meant that if people wanted to stick to themselves rather than socialize, they'd probably have some room to do so, assuming no one interrupted. Which was exactly what one Midna Eclipse set to, settled in a corner by a window with a book in hand, reading away and hardly paying the world around her any mind.. Well, aside from an oddly young looking boy, who she occasionally glanced on as though to make sure he was still there and okay.
Aside from the two, there were plenty of people aboard the ship to interact with. People of all shapes and sizes, skin colors, and ages were about. Though something of note was that while it had seemed upon boarding that there had been an awfully large amount of militants aboard, they all seemed to have vanished, leaving the students to interact among themselves. It was likely that the officers were merely in the pilot's cabin, but that wasn't the point. What did they possibly need all of that security for?
Well, whatever. Now was the time to make friends with your fellow peers, not worry about little details like that.
