'Take a deep breath... here we go'
The music began to play through her headphones as light broke the seems of the doorway, the ramp lowering to reveal the campus of Beacon Academy. The young musician steeled herself to the first day nerves as her sapphire eyes adjusted to the contrast of light, stepping forwards onto the ramp with her hand raised above her eyes to guard against the sunlight for a moment before she headed down towards the docking platforms. The area was already filled with all kinds of different people from all years, coming in an array of colors and senses of fashions found prevalent among the many different parts of Remnant.
"Magnolia Cadenza" the young girl eventually spoke her name, the gentlemen behind the directory kiosk giving a confirming nod before sliding some papers towards her, an itinerary of sorts for her first day so she knew where she needed to be and for what time.
"Thank you" she said softly with an accompanying smile before turning, looking around to find some sort of spot she could anchor herself too so she wasn't swept away in the crowds while checking the information.
Eventually she found herself a nice comfortable spot off the main road into Beacon, a patch of green grass where she could settle on as her hands flicked between the papers. As she took her seat she set her weaponized instrument beside her, a large guitar looking instrument which looked far bigger and thicker than your standard every day guitar. Deaths Crescendo, it had been affectionately named and with good reason. Magnolia unraveled the rouge ribbon from around her arm to set it down gently beside her before returning her attention to the papers. It appeared there would be some time later to explore the campus a little which was comforting as the campus was fairly large and a concern was being able to find where she'd need to go when transitioning between periods. Magnolia reached into a small bag that hung from her shoulder to the length of her waist, pulling from it a small book and a pencil. She began to take down notes from the information sheets, finding it'd be easier than carrying around the papers all day and then accidentally losing them.
"Excuse me" a voice pulled her from her train of though, her attention shifting from the book to look up at a young man whom approached her as she slid her earphones from her head.
"I was wondering if you could help us, we're trying to find the directory kiosk and... well, as you can tell the crowds are still a bit thick" he smiled sheepishly.
"Oh, I just came from there" she replied, getting to her feet before turning to look back to where she'd came from, raising her arm to indicate the area. "
It's a little ways back but not too far" she said before stepping closer to the boy so his line of site could match where she was indicating.
"You can just see the top pf the kiosk from here" she continued, the boy giving a confirming nod before turning towards her.
"Got it, thanks for the help" he said, turning to take his leave before stopping and looking over his shoulder,
"Hey, what did you say your name was?" he asked.
"Magnolia, but people tend to call me Lea for short" she replied with a smile. The boy gave a nod,
"The names Madix, I'll hopefully see you around" he said before giving a wave, returning to what she assumed were his friend.
The blond musician once again sat on the grass by her things and continued to scribble her notes into the book. According to the itinerary they'd be called into the main hall for a greeting presentation from the headmaster. Such a thing was expected and not uncommon within academies, but it would be nice to meet the man who ran the place. Magnolia tapped the pencil against her lips before eventually finding herself satisfied that she'd recorded all the necessary information. 'Now I guess it's just a matter of waiting' she thought to herself. A bell was due to ring to signal all students into the hall for the greeting, so she guessed she'd relax and enjoy the weather till then. In the meantime however she decided to look to the others walking by, taking notes of what she had to assume were their weapons. They came in all manner of shapes and sizes, some huge while others so small you had to really look closely to see them. It made for interesting thought on how they planned to use them, different styles of fighting learned and accessed from all parts of Remnant. It reminded her of her own past.

'THWOMP! SSSSSSSSSHHHHBOOM!!'
The detonation of the grenade was received by the ecstatic thunderclap of the audience cheering for the hunter whom stepped through the cloud residue left in the wake of the explosion, his expression devoid of emotion save for the creeping smirk that began across his features.
"Lil' miss yer in a whole heap 'a trouble" he said in a deep gravely voice, peering over his shades beneath the rim of his black stetson hat.
"You'll need to try... harder than that" the blonde musician replied between labored breaths, blood leaking from the corner of her mouth. Her hair was disheveled and her combat dress was torn in places from shrapnel thrown from the blasts administered by the hunters weapon, a grenade launcher that transformed into a singular gauntlet with tremendous strength. Her team mates had been knocked out of the fight, leaving her to be the 'last man standing'.
The hunter gave an amused chuckle before he spun the chamber of his launcher, the auto loader pushing colored shells into the cylindrical tubes to await dispatch at his opponent. Lea had concentrated her attention on him, almost missing the throwing knife which caught the sunlight, causing it to flash for a mere moment before it glanced off her shield, clattering to the ground a distance away from her.
"I wouldn't antagonize him, unless you like the thought of being turned into bits and pieces" the voice was softer and sweeter, though edged with danger. It's owner revealed itself at the side of the hunter, a huntress with long dark hair.
"You're outnumbered and out matched. Do yourself a favor and throw in the towel Blondie, lest you like tasting your own blood" a third voice, this one belonging to a small pale guy wielding a club twice his size.
Lea let out a soft breath and with a labored motion that suggested she was physically weakening, she lifted the shield higher and reasserted her stance,
"Are you going to stand there talking... or are you going to finish the fight?" she replied. The three exchanged glances, the grenade launching hunter giving a shrug before pointing the weapon towards her.
"Welp, ah aint claimin' to be no gentlemen, so let's get this done" he said before the chamber spun, firing off a shell towards the musician leaving a yellow smoke trail in it's wake.
The blond huntress stepped forwards and slammed her shield against the grenade, the detonation reverberating through the shield as the area she deflected the blast towards exploded with debris and shrapnel. By the time she'd soaked up the vibration and recomposed herself the other two had descended on her, the giant club slamming down towards her to be met by her shield. She stepped to the side and pulled the trigger on the shield, a wave of sound exploding from the larger part of the instrument which launched the club away and towards the girl, knocking her away with a cry of pain before Lea spun on her heel, bringing the sword around in swift strokes that struck the club wielder a few times before he withdrew to a safer distance.
Another grenade glanced from her shield but before she could gain the direction it was fired from he landed beside her, the grenade gauntlet slamming into her side, causing her to cough blood before he drew his arm back and punched downwards onto her shield arm, causing her to scream as it broke under the tremendous pressure, her shield clattering to the ground.
"Yah shoulda walked away kid" he said and drew back for another strike. Lea quickly slid her foot forwards and twisted her heel, spinning her body before shooting her other leg up to intercept the punch, her aura absorbing the reverberation before releasing it from the point of contact, sending him skipping across the floor like a flat stone across a lake.
She ducked under the swing of the incoming club, flicking her wrist before sending him away again with a hit from the sword. It bought her some time but it hadn't saved her entirely as the girl reappeared, spinning her knives before throwing slashes towards the musician determined to utilize a passive ability in her blades to paralyze her victims. Lea intercepted them with her sword, struggling a little before jumping forwards and kicking her in the chest to push her away for a moment. The grenade launching hunter had recovered and stood up, loading another shell with an angry expression on his face. Lea had but a moment as she dropped her sword and dove for her shield, picking it up with her remaining arm just in time to guard against the explosion. Unfortunately her stance hadn't been solid and with only one arm to brace against it she was thrown across the arena floor, tumbling for a moment before coming to a stop.
Shakily she got to her feet, coughing more blood to the floor in front of her before standing straight. Reaching down she adjusted the dials, turning the frequency all the way up before hugging the shield tight and pulling the trigger, releasing explosion after explosion into herself as her aura began to charge. The three opponents noticed and tried to intercept her, running towards her to finish the job. Lea dropped her shield, her left eye a furious blue glow that wisped into the air like the smoke from a cigarette. As they closed she took a deep breath, rolling forwards under the club and between two of them before standing and turning to release a shout so loud and with so much force that it cracked the concrete beneath them, the force throwing them from their feet and out of the arena.
"Magnolia Cadenza wins by Arena knockout" the voice on the PA speakers announced to the sounds of cheering and clapping. The musician exhaled and dropped to her knees, coughing and seeming unable to revel in the victory from the injuries she'd sustained in securing the win. She sat there for a moment before she felt two sets of arms lift her by her shoulders, supporting her as they picked her up.
"Now that wer one helluva play lil' missy" the grenade launching hunter said as he supported her.
"Not bad, not bad at all" the girl said as she picked up her other side, the side with the broken arm. The smaller hunter with the club picked up her instrument, trailing behind them silently.
"Thank... you" she replied between labored breaths with a small smile,
"And you said... you were no gentlemen".

That fight had been what earned her an invitation to Beacon. Though she'd been too young at the time and was forced to wait till she was old enough. Not that she minded much, she was just grateful to have the opportunity. One thing was certainly for sure, this year was going to be quite interesting.
