Example: Pyrrha Nikos

Color
Backstory: She was a sport-fighting champion at her young age in the floating kingdoms, amassing a big fan following. Because her life was so focused on being the portrait of a good fighter, she can put on a polite and charming face, but she wouldn't know what to do in a real interpersonal conflict. That said, she's tired of just giving into what people (her fans) want.
Why are you here? She joined a Diver team so she could put her talents to better use... and escape all of the people who'd put her on a pedestal and fawned over her, like some character in a movie rather than a real human being.
Other notes: Resentful of how people adore her image, but not rebellious enough to flagrantly sabotage it. Wants a chance to be herself, but isn't completely sure who that is at this point.

Mechanical
Issue: Loneliness. She regrets how she couldn't connect to people in the past, and feels like she's doomed to be alone.
Impulse: Be self-destructive. If she needs help, people will notice her in a way they never noticed her persona.
Edges:
Four-time Champion of the Mistral Tournament - Pyrrha is a skilled one-on-one fighter who also knows how to act graciously in public. Her reputation often precedes her, for better or for worse.
Connections:
Yang Xiao Long, her friend - an old sparring partner who helped Pyrrha get as good as she is now. Yang and Pyrrha are still in contact, and Yang is her link back to the kingdoms. Still, Yang doesn't fully understand how dangerous the Great Below is, and tends to push Pyrrha into dangerous situations.
Emerald Sustrai, her informant - Emerald has been in contact with Pyrrha through their scrolls, and Emerald knows a lot of hidden secrets in the Great Below. All of the information she offers comes with strings attached, though.
