In the world of Remnant, the very core and creation of life is Dust, from which all life is born from. It is largely believed that all creatures contain a soul, that can manifest itself in aura, which in turn turns into a semblance that is unique to everyone. However, before there was mankind the world of Remnant was filled by soulless creatures now known as Grimm. The Grimm hunts on these who have a soul, feeling especially attracted to their despair and distress. Especially mankind was a frequent victim of the Grimm's attacks and life was hostile for them.

This was until their discovery to manipulate dust. The knowledge gave them the power to fight back against the Grimm and live together in peace. However, as there are many strong Grimms and newly born as well the fight is never over. Until today the world of Remnant still trains their children in order to join in on the fight against these soulless beings.

0knDVHM.jpg

Much of the history of Remnant has been forgotten, leaving behind only bits of legends and myths that survived the ages. The only piece of history that has been recorded and taught in schools is the Great War. It was once said that the world of Remnant existed out of four kingdoms that were ruled over by dictators that suppressed their people.

Finally, tired of their chained existence the people started to revolt, fighting for their individualism and self-expression. The four kingdoms fell, but not their leaders. They decided to combine forces, creating a single world state where they ruled together. History was erased, forbidden to be passed down by the older generation as well. All traces of their previous four kingdoms, their identities, and unique cultures were all erased. From now on everything was known as Remnant and the people were called Remnants.

Remnants of an erased past. They were all the same, one and combined with a shared past that started the Great War.To remind the people of Remnant of their past, and to commemorate the ending of the Great War and the conception of Remnant as a single world state, a festival is held each year. The people call it the Tournament, as its largest event is the presentation of the new generation of promising hunters and huntresses from The Academy in a knockout stage. It celebrates the state of Remnant but also serves as a reminder to the people that they shouldn't rebel again and try to fight for their individualism, as that has all been erased, unified under one big state.

i4DPfxL.jpg

With the founding of the single world state of Remnant, only part of the conflict was solved. The fight between the state and its people was considered to be long over, but the fight between the living and the Grimm forever remained. As the demand for hunters and huntresses is still rising Remnant decided to open one large academy in which they could train the new generation. The Academy is an elite place for only the best students to become part of the fight against the Grimm.

Since the Academy exists to fight against the Grimm it's universally known as being the 'official training grounds' of the military. In order to join the Academy, you must pass the entrance exam. Though of course, those with money find it a bit easier to join the Academy. Once the student's studies at the Academy have been completed the graduation ceremony ends with a vow at the end. To pledge oneself into the service of the military. Every hunter and huntress have had to take this vow then sign a waiver as proof of their vow to the government. Once that's over the hunters and huntresses are basically the military's property from then forward.

During the years of study and training at the Academy, the board of the school assigns everyone a partner that they consider to be most compatible. This is usually done the first year to get it out of the way early. Partners exist to help each other through practice missions preparing them for field work. Two is better than one and once your partner has been decided they stick with you throughout your entire military career.

Each year the best students are allowed to participate in the Tournament, the biggest event of their yearly festival that commemorates their history and state. The participants are handpicked by their teachers and evaluations, ensuring that only the best of the best from The Academy are sent forward on the stage to fight in front of the people.

Within the world of Remnant, two intelligent species can be identified. That of humanity and the Faunus, who are human-like creatures with animal characteristics. The Faunus are subjected to harsh and poor treatments with little rights of their own. Most of the Faunus live on the continent Menagerie now, the only place that is out of reach for the single world state. However, the Faunus that failed to escape the Great War and remained in the fallen kingdoms, or simply stolen from their own homeland, were all taken into slavery. Sold to be owned and stripped off their dignity and rights.

While there are small activist groups that try to advocate for the rights of the Faunus they are few in numbers and weak in power. Most of the Remnants worry more over their own limited freedom and lives within the single world state, not wanting to cross the government by also fussing over the Faunus. A fear that they rightly have, for most of the activist groups are labeled as 'terroristic' and as an 'enemy of the state', giving their followers and members the status as a 'criminal'. A predicament that spells nothing good and can affect their relatives and loved ones as well.

Faunus are however allowed to join the Academy, though faced with discrimination. The process for a Faunus joining the Academy is a bit different. Not only do they have to pass the entrance exam but their master must allow them to enter the Academy. Once accepted Faunus aren't allowed to participate in Academics but they are trained to fight, however. Typically those who own Faunus have their property as their partner because it's just easier. To avoid harsh discrimination some Faunus might choose to hide their identity from the populace, and while the board of the Academy and their master know the truth others will not.

8433945ad69cfe81a5d5973c7f2c2ccb.jpg

A new school year at The Academy starts and the students are returning to the state-controlled school. Some might graduate soon, having almost completed their training to become a true hunter or huntress, some might be just starting their journey. However, there is no doubt that each and every one of them is excited and hopeful about participating in the Tournament.

In the meanwhile Faunus activists are gathering together again, hoping to band together and garner enough power to overthrow the government. They have started to grow more violent and obvious in their attacks, impending fear and sparking anger in many by their actions. Sick and tired of the ill treatment the Faunus get and their forced slavery they are readying themselves to fight for their own rights.

However, the state of Remnant isn't sitting idly by. Refusing to back down the government strikes back harshly, punishing the Faunus even more for the actions the activists take. There is something shadier going on, however. Within the school grounds, that is run by the state, and the terroristic attacks, the state ignores the calls and pleas of their people who are sincerely hoping for their help. While the top is living in luxury, wealth and comfort they have neglected their duties in some of the remote parts of Remnant, leaving the people there to fend widely for themselves while the Grimm attacks are frequenting.

"Guardian angel in training, at your service."

Etymology
Ophanim - The Ophanim (alt: ofanim), or also called Galgalim, is a class of celestial beings that are usually believed to be the wheels of the chariot of God. Along with the Cherubim and the Seraphim the Ophanim never sleeps and stands guard at God's throne. Some even believe that the Ophanim stands synonymous to the heavenly throne as the seat is usually depicted as a wheel.

Hayyoth - The surname means; living creatures, or living beings. It refers to a heavenly class of beings that guard the heavenly chariot.

17 y/o | Male | Human

PERSONALITY

Sarcastic - One of the most prominent traits about Ophanim is his humour. From the first meeting to the closest friendship this is a steady characteristic that remains with him. Dry witty remarks, sneering criticism, Ophanim expresses himself mostly through (questionable) irony. While it is usually used in a disapproving mocking manner the male doesn't mean any true harm with it. It is merely a way for him to show his opinion, or to make light of the situation. Never to put anyone on the spot, or to embarrass them.

However, not everyone picks up on it very well. Some may take him seriously, thinking that he means what he says. The same group of people often think that Ophanim is perpetually stuck in a bad mood, a grouch who lacks sleep for one too many nights. Others may understand, but find themselves overwhelmed by his sarcasm which in turn makes them unable to appreciate it. This group is even harder to deal with for the male as they may turn the situation; 'bigger than it actually is' in his opinion.

In any case, just as the form of humour itself is, it isn't always well-received. This side of his has given him the needed foes in live, mostly from these who felt slighted by his words. It has never changed the male, however. He believes that these truly worth it will see past his words and take them for what they truly are; nothing but words.

Restless - Some describe Ophanim to be 'jittery'. He rather describes it as; 'an unableness to sit still'. The male finds himself always in the need of keeping himself occupied. Not a moment can go wasted, and he rather not waste his time either. Very rarely will the boy be able to sit still in a seat for a moment, or take a break with doing nothing, for he feels himself physically incapable of doing this. His mind wanders, his body aches, his eyes shift, he will look for something to do, anything to quiet the uneasiness down.

For the people around him this can be incredibly frustrating as his actions can be considered a disturbance for the rest. Especially within the classrooms he is notorious for his somewhat 'nervous' behaviour. It is a running gag for the students to hiss, or for teachers to beg the boy to 'please' stop click his pen while in the middle of a written exam, or to stop drumming his fingers on the tables in general. There are a few more colourful examples of how he manages to get on the nerves of others unconsciously.

To himself this behaviour has more serious consequences. Due to the constant need to find something to do, and the inability to sit still, he rarely falls asleep in his bed, or gets a good night of sleep for longer than five hours. His mind constantly wanders, keeping him alert at the times when he actually wishes to be knocked out. Some blame his coffee addiction to it, which perhaps may be one of the causes of his symptoms. Peers and teachers accuse him of being a bored soul that doesn't take the world serious enough, and at last specialists suggest that it may be anxiety, but Ophanim never went to see them for an official diagnosis. Whatever it may be, the male doesn't fret too much over it, believing that this is who he has been since he was born.

Private - He likes to keep to himself at large. No matter how close he grows to someone, or how close the relation is forged by blood, Ophanim simply doesn't see much of a point in sharing about himself. When asked he can give his opinion, but once it pries into his deepest thoughts and private life he shuts down. Partly because he doesn't want to share, mostly because he doesn't want to tie himself to anyone.

This can make it incredibly hard to befriend the male, for he mostly goes on about business and classes, not giving much room to get to know his peers or partners. As he doesn't show much interest either in the private matters, lives, or thoughts of these surrounding him, people tend to divert away from him after a while, thinking of themselves to be unwelcome inside of his world. As such many would describe him to be a 'loner' of sorts; someone that prefers his own company over that of others.

The truth runs, however, much deeper. Ophanim doesn't like to make obligations towards others, viewing them as chains of his being. It is all explained in his semblance, where his wish for freedom is expressed. The boy believes that he can rise up and be free from the world as long as he doesn't make any big promises, create obligations, or fall into debts with others. So, while the curiosity may be there he won't act upon the whim, feeling that it would mean another chain that links him to the world.

Neurotic - Surprising to many, but not to his closest relations, Ophanim is a person with slight nerves. Despite his usually cool and calm exterior the male is a wreck within, thinking actions over a thousand times and practising every word for another billion. It keeps him on edge, constantly on watch that something might be coming, or that something will go wrong, that the Grim may attack, that he will be jumped.

This overthinking and worrying from his side is also part of the reasons why his mind haunts him. The male is quick to find himself stressed and pressured. This sometimes results in rash decisions, but also leaves him in distress over being unable to meet the expectations set by himself. The male, who likes to do good in everything he takes on, stresses the most in performing as well as he could and meeting the standards that he sets for himself. This can make him incredibly critical and harsh towards himself, but also to others he respects as he regards them on the same level.

This results in several tendencies that are to be blamed to his fragile nerves. This can range from obsessively repeating an action to make sure that the job is done and done well, to a constant persuasion after perfection. It has, at its worse moments, even results in self-punishment, where he wouldn't allow himself to sleep, or eat, until satisfaction was met.

Perceptive - Despite being a nervous wreck Ophanim still manages to be a rather insightful individual. While he isn't as useful with his observations once his nerves are running high, the male is capable of filtering and understanding most of the signals and information heading his way.

It is because of this counter-balance in his personality that the male knows how to react in most situations. It are the moments when his mind doesn't make sense that the boy's intuition kicks in. The unconsciously gathered information mull through his head, sometimes unnecessarily enlargened, but it helps in making a decision instead of standing stiff.

His perceptiveness has also made him unconsciously drawn to people. While Ophanim tries his best not to forge any ties with others he can't help but watch them as well. He watches their behaviour, attitudes, and changes, observing them and noting them down. It is something he doesn't choose volunteeringly, but that happens at an instance, a punishment for being around them, he believes.

Kind - Despite his attempts at being apathetic Ophanim can't help but to note the distress of others. While he doesn't like to share his own troubles he does have the tendency to help others with theirs, or to simply listen to them. It is ultimately his kindness that makes him unable to move away from everyone and everything and truly feel freedom.

It isn't uncommon for Ophanim to randomly offer his help to a struggling classmate when he sees them. However, the boy knows his limits. He knows that, if he can't help he is better off standing at the sidelines. Despite this awareness Ophanim might still attempt, as his heart tends to be swayed and convince his mind that it truly is his calling to help.

HISTORY

The Hayyoth clan was known as a religious group of people who lived in the west of Remnant. Before the time of the single state, and the erasure of most of the world history, the Hayyoth was a powerful family that held considerable power and influence over their followers. Rumours that claimed they were descendants of an archangel solidified their position only the more, elevating them above the common folk, but not nearing the status of a deity. They were, as such, considered the mediums between the high heavens and the people back in the old days. A role they much enjoyed and fulfilled diligently for generations.

However, when the suppressors united the states and created Remnant the Hayyoth was branded as a cult, a forbidden group and banished. No longer were they allowed to practise their old traditions anymore. Their position and influence were all ripped away from them and the people were forced to forget and turn their backs on the Hayyoth. Something that hurt the family quite badly. Their clan leaders were taken and convicted and the members scattered. The Hayyoth family was no longer above the crowd, they had fallen down.

It was under these circumstances that Ophanim was born. While they maintained their name the Hayyoth had no claim or rights that they enjoyed previously. While most of them had given up, subjecting themselves to the life of the 'mortals' some remained hopeful, hoping to take back what they had lost. The few that remained strong in their conviction believed that they would be able to lift themselves up again away from the term: 'cult' if they could proof their 'angelic' bloodline. One of these branches happened to be the one Ophanim was born into, which was also the main motivation behind his name.

It was from birth that they steamrolled Ophanim to help them in their fight to regain their status. He was taught to believe that he had the blood of an angel, that he was purer than the rest was and granted special powers as such. He was told that he was to be the bridge between the heavens and the people and that it was his duty to lead the 'mortals' and to serve as a loyal subject. All these responsibilities they gave him weighed heavily on Ophanim's young shoulders and small mind. The high expectations as well as the hostile world he believed Remnant to be had him shaken and question; could he truly be so great? The roles and expectations raised on him truly terrified Ophanim, as he could only see his own flaws and mistakes and compare how he did to the rest. He didn't seem to be much more outstanding than the rest, but yet he was presented on a pedestal.

While at home Ophanim would learn about the greatness of his family, the boy would at the same time learn the history at school that contradicted the stories he heard from his relatives. This great confusion lead to many questions from the boy who didn't understand what to believe. However, where his family would only curse his education while he couldn't ask his teachers directly about it all. After all, his family had told him never to speak of the family and their plans to anyone. This confusion only grew bigger as he grew older and learnt more. His roles also multiplied and so did his responsibilities. Ophanim was slowly feeling the pressure and expectations raising, and so did his fears.

It was around the age of ten when his cousin's family was suddenly caught and taken away. His worst fear played out right in front of his eyes. Overnight they had disappeared, where to he was never told. 'When you're older' they told him. However, from his older sibling he would later on hear that it was because his cousin had said too much. They had been snitched on and as such dealt with. His cousin's family had been too hasty in their goals and dug their graves. It was then that Ophanim realised the gravity of his responsibilities and role for the first time. It was also then that the boy found himself wishing to be away from this world and everyone in it.

It was when he was twelve that Ophanim found out his true mission within the family. When releasing his semblance for the first time his family had seemed pleased with his wings, announcing him to be a messenger. The boy hoped that this meant that he could free himself from his family, but it turned out he would have a more vital role than most others. As the messenger he turned out to be the representative of his family to show their worthiness of their rumours and spread their influence. They had selected him to be trained to climb the ranks and become part of the elite of Remnant and from there spread out his wings for the Hayyoth family and raise them up and away from the status as a forbidden cult.

This newly added role and pressure made it only worse for the young Ophanim who is trying his hardest to meet all standards set. Unable to say no, and confused on where his true loyalty lies the boy is desperately wishing for his own life and choice while at the same time unwilling to let anyone down. Still barely understanding the importance of his family line Ophanim is struggling to be the best person he can be, while at the same time trying to protect them from what happened to his cousin. Anxiety and self-doubt were recurring feelings and thoughts with the boy, and before he knew it he felt like he was slowly being choked by invisible chains.

While still questioning his own position, and feeling confused over the truth, the boy fortunately did manage to work through the goals set. While suffering from insomnia, thanks to his anxiety, the boy managed to work hard and summon the energy to perform. At sixteen he was then allowed into The Academy, thus closing in on the eventual goal of becoming part of the elite.

However, by now Ophanim's heart has grown weary and dreadful. While he is still diligent in his duties and loyal towards Remnant he also has come to resent both, feeling that they have both contributed in his distress. It causes a feeling of guilt, as he believes that someone 'angelic' isn't supposed to resent. He remains strong, however, believing that one day he can free himself from the chains choking him.

WEAPON(S)

Melee/ranged

Primary: Tonfa blades - A long stick with a handle at around a third way down its length. Most of its length covers, and goes even a little beyond, his lower arms. A small extension also goes beyond his fists when gripped. Its primarily use is for blunt attacks, but a sharp blade has been attached at the side that doesn't face his arm, but doesn't run down the full length of the stick. This is mostly done as to allow Ophanim to use the tonfa as a hook/bat as well by gripping it by its lower end. The weapon comes and is used in a pair.

Secondary: Double guns - The tonfa can also serve as guns, with the bullets coming out of the longest part of the stick. This allows the male to also fight from a distance. Usually Ophanim will turn the tonfa around to shoot forward, but he has also trained himself to shoot backwards when needed. Due to his swift handling, and his ability to switch over in positions quickly and smoothly, the boy is known to be switching between back- and forwards frequently.

Final form: Sniper - When combining the tonfa pair together Ophanim can create one long gun that can cover a great distance; a sniper. He doesn't commonly use it as he needs to be well hidden and it takes a while to load a bullet, as well as to aim. However, it is effectively the most lethal weapon in his possession.

Dust
Ophanim can combine dust with his bullets which creates additional effects when fired. The combination can be either used aggressively, or passive, but each have their own unique effect.

Fire: Explosion - The bullet will explode when hitting something. Ophanim can aim this bullet at, for example, locked doors to force them open. Leaves a lot of chaos in the end, but is effective in its power.
Water: Mark - When hitting the target the bullet leaves a 'stain' on them, making them recognisable as the target and making it easier for Ophanim to aim.
Wind: Velocity - The bullet travels spins in a high speed towards the target. Because of the extra speed the bullet makes its impact also becomes harder and the bullet will penetrate deeper while leaving a smaller wound.

Earth: Breach - When firing the bullet it comes out with an extra power, doing extra damage to whatever it hits. Ophanim can only fire one such bullet at a time, however, as the power it releases throws him out of balance.
Electricity: Paralyse - Due to the electric shocks this bullet gives off and overloads the muscles with it paralyses the target in the area they have been shot at.
Gravity: Homing - Usually combined with the water bullet as the mark makes it easier for the bullet clad in gravity dust to land. The homing bullet essentially zooms in and follows the target, feeling itself being pulled towards the 'mark'.

Ice: Freeze - Usually Ophanim aims the bullet at the ground, or at where the feet and the ground meet. This bullet freezes the spot it hits, thus either creating a slippery underground, or preventing someone from moving by freezing their foot down to the ground.
Steam: Diversion - This bullet is usually used as a way to escape or to distract the crowd. The bullet releases a mist that clouds the vision of everyone involved. Ophanim also uses this trait in combination with other bullets to create additional situations and effects.

SEMBLANCE

The Hayyoth family is infamous for having semblances that goes along with an angelic theme. While their semblance isn't exactly passed down from generation certain traits are. As such the Hayyoth family strongly believe that the forming of the semblance determines the role they will play within society.

In Ophanim's case his semblance manifests into wings, the most infamous trait that are linked to angels. They allow him to fly and cover great distances. It was as such believed that Ophanim was to be a 'messenger', a representative for his family towards the rest of the world to spread the word.

The wings of his semblance represents the wish for freedom from Ophanim's side, however. He yearns to see the world, and to be free from all the chains that are holding him back. The male believes gingerly that his birth, everything in the world, is chaining him down and withholding him from his true potential as well as well as truth itself. It is this thirst for freedom that makes him envy the birds and have him birth wings to fly away with.

Aura
Like many before him in the family, Ophanim's aura is coloured a bright white with a yellowish border that seems to look gold. Alike to the description of angels the aura of Hayyoth family is said to be blinding and enveloping. However, it is simply just bright coloured and safe to look into. It is merely their own advertisement and boasts that have made these rumours spin out of control.

Dust
Together with his semblance Ophanim is also capable of creating additional effects when he combines his wings with dust. However, most of the abilities are either passive or defensive and are not meant for actual combat.

Fire: Warmth - His wings turn red and start to exude a lot of warmth like a heater. Ophanim sometimes abuses this little feature in the winter when he is feeling especially chilly that day.
Water: Calmness - The dust turns his wings blue and radiates a calming, but also chilling aura. It is used to cool down and normalise the surrounding situation.
Wind: Agility - With wind Ophanim gains extra points in aerial acrobatics. He doesn't necessarily become faster, which might seem, but he does become more nimble in the sky with the use of the dust.

Earth: Shield - The earth makes his wings turn heavy and solid so that they can serve as a shield. When using this effect Ophanim won't be able to take flight as his wings are too heavy.
Electricity: Speed - Turns his wings a bright yellow. Ophanim becomes lightening fast when combining his wings with dust. The off-effect is that he doesn't maintain his usual swiftness, it is best used in straight lines and long distances.
Gravity: Flight - Extremely exhaustive to the body as well as unrecommended. Ophanim's wings turn black when combined with the dust of gravity and grants him the ability to take a small group with him in a short flight. The more people, the smaller the distance. Because of the dangers tied to this key Ophanim has always been taught to only use this as a last resort.

Ice: Reflect - His wings turn into a light blue colour that can serve as a mirror. It is in no way meant to be used to induce vanity, but to reflect. For example; sunlight.
Steam: Hide - Here his wings lose their form and instead scatter themselves around Ophanim, hiding him and disguising him as a cloud. It goes without saying that this ability is only used when the male is in the air and not on the ground.

OTHERS

Tinkerer - Ophanim greatly enjoys repairing and creating weapons and machinery. It is the only moment where he can feel quiet and sit still for long periods of time. Often he can be seen trying to put together delicate clockworks, but there are also times where he applies his hobby more practically by repairing his own weapon, or upgrading them a little. For a small price he also extends this service to his peers, taking on their weapons when the need is asked for.

Clock collector - Born from his hobby to tinker Ophanim also has a massive clock collection with him. Most of them are old clocks, from the long forgotten past, in need of repair. As such he always has a project at hands to work on when time allows it. Sometimes, when a clock is truly beyond saving, he also likes to create clockwork figurines. As such he has created a few automatons for entertainment purposes that he can wind up. However, such projects are time consuming and rare.

Insomniac - Anyone who knows Ophanim even a little knows how little sleep he actually gets. Usually the male is unable to sleep, his mind too active for him to rest at ease. This can last for days before he finally collapses and snoozes on for many hours after each other. However, even after waking up from such a slumber the male is unable to feel rested, mostly due to oversleeping his own body. This irregular, and unhealthy, sleeping pattern has quite a few consequences. Some of them expressed in his personality and physique. His thin nerves are an example of it, so are the heavy eyebags he carries underneath his eyes along with his slumped and thin frame.

Coffee addict - Like the gears of his clockworks need oil Ophanim needs coffee. It is probably worsening his insomnia, but the male honestly doesn't want to think over the possibility. He starts his day with coffee and likes to drink it all throughout the day, even sometimes at night when he knows it is going to be another long one. While he and his relations have tried to cut him back on his consumption Ophanim finds himself to be missing the dark, bitter liquid rather quickly, growing unreasonable when his desire for coffee is being denied. It is one chain of addiction that the male allows in his life, but sometimes wishes he didn't have when he drink another sip of oil by accident.

APPEARANCE

In order to be able to carry himself in the air Ophanim maintains a lithe and small build. Standing 5 feet 8 inches (178 cm) tall and weighing 125 pounds (57 kg) he is considered to be slightly underweight. It gives him the lanky lean build that he is so known for. Most of his length goes into his limbs, his arms and legs being rather long when compared to the rest of his body. A typical feature in teens as it are the limbs that grow first. It gives him a rather clumsy and awkward look, which is somehow befittinv to his nervous personality.

Zooming in, starting from the top Ophanim starts off with black thick hair in a longer cut. He doesn't do much with it, but he maintains it well to keep it healthy and lush. It is soft to the touch, as well as smooth and straight, thus demanding less attention from him. Usually his bangs, or plucks of hair, tend to stand up because of his tendency to run his hands through it in frustration. It also makes it seem a lot more unkempt than it actually is because of his jitters.

His facial features are a little harder to see. His eyebrows and forehead are covered by his bangs, sometimes even reaching his eyes. However, his eyes are known to be golden coloured, with deep dark circles of fatigue underlining them. His eyelashes are, however, long and thick to the envy of many, framing around his almond shape nicely. With a straight nose and lips that shape a slight 'V' form the male could be considered as rather handsome if it wasn't for the overdone sleepy look, dark, dark eyebags, and almost sickly looking pale skin.

Born in Menagerie, Lamb was taken as a young child to be sold for faunus slave work in the north. Separated from her family through the trade, she remembers next to nothing of her homeland and her relatives. She wasn't on the market long, as young children are often bought quickly for the many years of labor they have
to offer. Bought into the wealthy Birchmier family, Lamb might consider herself lucky. A large castle-like home, and many other Faunus employees to keep her company, a faunus child could imagine a good life.

The Birchmier's were a wholesome family. A hard-working father, a loving mother, and an intelligent daughter occupied the large home. The father's fragile parents also wandered the halls, though they mostly kept to themselves. The manor was much too large for the five occupants, but many lavish parties and get-together's kept the house busy. Grace Birchmier held a book club on Mondays and Thursdays along with several tea parties weekly. Owen Birchmier loved to hold barbecues over the summer and enjoyed inviting his own friends to spend dinner with his family. There was never a dull day at the Birchmier home.

With many events and people that came in and out of the house, the Birchmier's were in need of a hard working staff. Day in and out, Faunus staff cooked, cleaned, and served tirelessly to maintain the house at peak perfection. On the first day, Lamb was led into the sparkling entrance by Owen Birchmier. The marble staircase and glittering floors could have fooled Lamb into believing she was a princess. Grace Birchmier looked upon the horned girl with the kind of sparkle in her eye that a child would get from their first visit to a freak show; intrigue and wonder. She made her way down the stairs towards the young faunus, taking her head in her hands. "What a cute one you chose, Owen!"

Lamb was shown around the palace, her duties explained in great detail. The child only looked on in wonder of the beautiful home. The tour hadn't been going on very long when she realized that they were being followed. She had spotted a girl who didn't appear much older than herself cautiously following at a distance, hiding behind walls. Every so often she caught the girl peeking from behind her hiding spots just to quickly conceal herself again. Lamb thought it was strange but didn't want to alert Mr. Birchmier, instead she decided to have a little fun. Waiting for the right moment, Lamb concealed herself in a corridor as Mr. Birchmier walked on. When the girl went to peek at the new Faunus, she found that the horned girl had disappeared. Confused she looked around, only to have Lamb jump out at her from the corridor with a "boo!". The girl didn't scream but was obviously surprised, gasping and jumping. Seeing her more closely, Lamb realized who the girl was. Her hair was rung in beautiful curls and she was clad in a fancy dress fit for royalty. She was the princess. Lamb immediately became flushed and began apologizing profusely.

The girl only laughed and reassured the Faunus. "No one plays with me like that around here." she smiled. Lamb stood, unsure how to respond. "My name is Lamb." She finally said, outstretching her hand. She decided that introducing herself would end the awkwardness. The girl smiled and gave her hand to the Faunus as if she were expecting her to kneel. "I'm Mary."
Lamb was confused by the way the girl had responded to her handshake, but decided to shake the hand anyway. It was then Mr. Birchmier came stomping down the hall, fuming like a bull. However he stopped in his tracks when he saw the girls mid-handshake. In that moment, he made a face. A face that stuck with Lamb. She swore she saw a demon in his eyes. He quickly jerked the faunus' hand out of his daughters and smacked her. Lamb was in shock, her face stinging. "Do not disobey me again." his voice was cold. He then turned to Mary, "And you, don't play with the animals. They're here to serve us, not be your friend." With that he continued down the hall, Lamb following at his heels without question.

Lamb became fearful of Mr. Birchmier. A fear that was only starting to bud. As night fell, it was time for the family and the staff to get ready for bed. Lamb and the rest of the faunus were led outside to a small barn. Lamb had thought that in such a large home, there would be many spare rooms for the staff to stay in. However the Birchmier's preferred their animals to sleep in the barn at night. It was then Lamb realized that this house might not be her castle, but her prison.

It was only the beginning. Mr. Birchmier would often call the faunus hurtful and demeaning words, treating them as many treated faunus; lowly. As Lamb began to work she noticed the staff were very fearful of making mistakes. It wasn't until a certain luncheon Mrs. Birchmier held that she knew why. Misstepping, she tripped and broke a few pieces of expensive china. She apologized profusely and picked at all up, but once Mr. Birchmier got ear, it was to the basement. The basement was a place Mr. Birchmier went to "discipline" the staff. Whipping, solitary confinement, and other tortuous methods were used. Lamb stayed in the basement two days her first time.

As Lamb grew older, the basement haunted her dreams and her reality. Her only consolation was Mary, who she had befriended. Mary grew fond of Lamb and thought of her as family. For Lamb's 7th birthday, Mary gifted her a stuffed sheep toy. Poking the small horns on it's head and smiling, "Now you're not the only one." Mary and Lamb were inseparable. Although it often times got Lamb in trouble, she found without Mary she wouldn't be able to survive. One night Mr. Birchmier was working late, so Lamb and Mary were staying up in Mary's room. Mary had slipped Lamb out of the barn and back into her room. Before they knew it, the two had fallen asleep. When Mr. Birchmier got home and went to check on his daughter, he was mortified.

4 weeks in the basement. It was the longest anyone had spent. Some of the Faunus worried that Mr. Birchmier had forgotten about the girl. But she emerged. She was quiet, didn't speak to anyone for a few days. No one knows exactly what happened and no one dared ask. Eventually she returned to normal, but strange occurrences happened around the house. Often times people couldn't find Lamb, and she'd show up in strange and random places, seemingly confused. Dead birds and other animals were found in great numbers on their property and Grace Birchmier became overcome with fear; worried that someone was threatening them. This went on, with no hints of who the culprit was. Until one day Mary found Lamb in the woods, her eyes bugged out as a bird writhed in her palm. Lamb had no grasp on it, it seemed as if Lamb was using her mind. Mary became fearful and pushed Lamb, freeing the bird. However Lamb moved on to her new subject, her hand wrapping around Mary's neck and tightening. Mary felt her body begin to go limp, as if any energy she had to fight was being drained. She pleaded for Lamb to stop. Lamb's hands suddenly released as Mary fell, coughing.
The horned girl, coming to her senses, screamed when noticing Mary on the ground, weak with red marks on her throat. She knelt beside her to try and help but Mary instinctively backed away in fear.

While Mary was fearful at first, she realized that what had tried to kill her wasn't Lamb. Later she explained to Lamb what had happened. She explained that she suspected all the other dead animals were also victims of the faunus. This was the first time Lamb became aware of her demon. Both Mary and Lamb realized that they couldn't tell anyone about it, or else she could get sent to the basement again. From then on Mary watched over Lamb more strictly. It was difficult but she managed to capture and calm the demon every time it awoke.

However the day came that Mary was off to test for the academy. She knew what would happen when she left. Lamb would be alone, and when the demon awoke anyone could find her out or be claimed a victim. She realized the only way Lamb would be safe and her family would be safe was if Lamb came with her. She plead with her father to let Lamb enroll along with her, and although it took time, Mr. Birchmier finally gave in. Although Lamb was a klutz, he knew she would watch over his daughter and keep her safe. Despite his discrimination, he knew Lamb loved Mary.

Both Lamb and Mary tested and enrolled into the academy. Lamb knew Faunus don't go to places like this. She was free from the nightmarish prison, and it was just Mary and herself. Together. The future looked bright.

Casual
Lamb is smaller in stature, hitting roughly 5'4. She has platinum blonde hair that she wears in a very short bob. However what most people notice first are the large horns that jut out and curl around her head. Her horns resemble those of a ram, she doesn't like them very much but tries to pretty them up with greenery and bows. She usually wears her usual maid apron with accents.

Battle Suit
Lamb has a battle suit that Mary paid to have made. The battle suit allows for easier motion and better protection. Padded and accented with armor, Lamb is more suited to fight offensively and defensively. She keeps her bangs pinned back so they don't get in her eyes while fighting.

Semblance
Lamb is able to manipulate energy through touch and furthermore through indirect touch. She is able to give energy, enough to give peers a superhuman amount of stamina and strength. She is also able to take energy, making opponents feel weak and limp. The closer she is to her subject, the faster the energy is given/taken. Direct touch works the fastest but is the most difficult to achieve during a match. When energy is being taken or given, a glow pattern appears on the subject. When giving energy a vine pattern begins to glow and wrap itself on the subject. As energy is being taken, an amalgamation of lines connect and glow onto the subject. The stronger the glow, the more energy being taken.

Lamb was only able to give energy at first, aiding others whenever it was needed. It matched her kind and generous personality. However her ability to take energy came into light when her second personality formed itself.

Weapon and Fighting

Lamb has two large machetes that transform into a double-bladed staff. She can use the blades to transfer energy through the ground. This makes any aviation based fighters her weakness. Transferring energy through the ground however significantly slows the process.

Lamb's fighting style is more defensive, often times she uses her bladed-staff to keep her distance from opponents and focuses on blocking rather than hitting. Lamb's alternate persona has an offensive fighting style. She prefers to use the blades separately to get a closer proximity and harder hit. She is more chaotic and hectic than Lamb, often times leading her to making more damage but also taking more damage.

The Demon

Not actually a demon but rather an alternate personality that formed due to trauma Lamb experienced. Without knowing any other name for her, both Mary and Lamb refer to her as "the demon". She has no personality other than being obsessed with murder and death. Lamb does not know how to control her and she tends to wake up at random times. Lamb has no recollection of anything she does as the demon.

Chop-Chop

A stuffed sheep toy that Mary gave Lamb for her 7th birthday. It is Lamb's favorite possession and she often times talks to it and brings it on her adventures. Mary uses Chop-chop to calm the demon and bring Lamb back, although this does not always work. Hurting or threatening Chop-chop is the only sure-fire trigger that will bring out the demon.

They raise us to be in chains, but I refuse to be contained

Etymology: Meaning: Livia is derived from the Latin word Lividus which means 'Blue' while Gavin is derived from the Welsh word Gwalchgwyn, which means 'White Hawk'

Reason: Livia is born from a line of wealthy people, she was born naturally with hair as white as snow and eyes as pure and clear as the oceans waters. The Gavin line were supporters of the 'Suppressors' and was very adamant about following rules and not standing out, but rather being like others. Livia's mother however married into the family (an arranged marriage to be exact) and as a tone of defiance she decided to sneakily express herself anyway, by naming her child Livia. It just so happened to work out that her husband's last name had a meaning too.

HISTORY
As stated above, came from a family that supported the suppressors. But ever since she was young she was always a fiery, speaking her mind, sort of rebellious kid. She didn't act like the heiress of a wealthy political and business oriented family should. Of course, that would look bad on her family's name if they left it unchecked so she was always being punished for trying to be different. She could never understand why it was such a bad thing to be different. Robots were meant to be the same not humans.

She was fine for the longest time because she felt like the only one who understood her was her mother. So she and her mother would talk in secret. It wasn't till her mother fell ill and passed away did she realize she really was the only one that understood her. That feeling of being alone and literally against the whole world caused her to act out more. Her strict father wasn't having any shame brought onto his family by a disobedient child so he shipped her off to a military boarding school where they would train her in the ways of fighting in order to be a Huntress (which was equal to being the government's property because the huntsmen and huntresses were military property)

When she was in her late mid teens she came back home to find out her father had remarried. She doesn't like the "dumb bimbo" that her father stooped so low to marry. She's not a wife she's his servant. His 'Yes-man" the cocky snitch that always runs to her father whenever she catches Livi doing something she's not supposed to. Part of her dislike for the woman stems from the fact that she believes her father should only love one woman, her mother. But her step-mother is also a 'dumb-piece-of-shit' according to her so that adds to the pile as well.

WEAPONS

** More in depth later*

Blades look like this | Akali's weapons
Livi has different stages of her weapon. Each can be infused with dust to take on a lighting affinity

Phase 1: She starts off with dual hand scythes (Think Akali's weapons in league)

Phase 2: She has a whip/chain/rope, whatever you want to call it that turns electric

Phase 3: She combines the two to make her own sickle and chain

SEMBLANCE

*more explaining later*

Glyphs + Light Sword Summoning

How it works: Livi's semblance works in two parts. What it is alone, and how she can manipulate it. Just like any other glyph summoning Livi can produce a symbol of magical worth. By summoning her specific glyphs (b/c she can only use this type) she can then summon her light swords. Her light swords are just that, swords made of light. The number of swords she can summon is unlimited. At least until she runs out of her aura.

How she works with it: She can adjust the density of the sword so that she can either grab hold and wield it or enough so that when it pierces you, it sticks (Think of Kalista's spears in the enemy champion's body) If she chooses the latter option she can choose to "destroy" the light swords within you, doing increased damage. Also, depending on where she throws her sword ( she has to be within distance of the sword. The maximum length she can be away from the sword 3 meters or around 9 feet) she can dash to her weapon. (Think Katarina's shunpo to her daggers in league)

Reason she has it: Livi has always been the type to go against the grain instead of with it. Being born the rebellious reckless type that would rather embrace being different in a society that tells her she can't. That's why she has such a flashy, attention-grabbing semblance. She wants to be noticed and wants to be recognized even though the majority of the time she's placed in situations where she really should just hang low. Her semblance comes at great a cost to her as well. With great power comes great responsibility, when she pops her semblance her aura runs out quickly so her job it to do a lot of damage to make sure she comes out on top in a very short amount of time. She has a time limit of a maximum of 10 minutes using her semblance. (It's really around 8 but she has the will to push herself for another 2 minutes)

17 y/o | Male | Human

Personality:
-Laid Back-
-Lazy-
-Protective-
-Smartass-
-Blatant-

History:
Born a year before Yami was, Kuroi grew up in a more nurturing environment than his younger sibling. He was too young to recall when his parents fought, and his paternal figure took his baby sister, nor did he completely understand what it was about. All he knew was that the two were gone and unlikely to be found again. It of course affected him, his younger sister's kidnapping, but Kuroi could see in his mother's eyes that it pained her so much more. Having her child taken from her, guilt, self blame, feeling weak and powerless, Kuroi knew that the emotions she felt were no more diminished than the day after it occurred. This sight did more for the boy than his mother. He wouldn't believe that the event was somehow his fault or he could have affected it one way or the other, but later on in life if something similar occurred, Kuroi was determined to see that he could stop it.

Kuroi sought training early on in age, as early as four years old. His mother, Kohaku, refused to start him on the path to becoming a hunter. Perhaps she thought he was too young, or perhaps she did not want to lose another child of hers. Regardless, her stance was steadfast, leaving young Kuroi with little choice but to seek out alternative teachers. In this case, the alternatives were Faunus.

Kohaku never held disdain for the faunus, nor looked down upon them. Rather she appeared to be one of the few who treated them as living creatures instead of possessions, and her outlook was passed down to her son, but it went a bit further than that. Kuroi respected their kind, all the odds stacked against them and there were still those that made an effort to push back. Even those that didn't still drudged along. Still, neither Kuroi nor his mother believed that his respect and wish to train would get him involved with what the state dubbed as "terrorists".

In truth, the "terrorist" organization was simply an activist movement with combat-trained faunus to act as protection. Occasionally, actions occurred involving rescue or protection of runaway slaves, breaking them out even, but nothing against the ordinary populace. Kohaku used to publicly support the organization, until threats began to be made towards her family's well-being, which is how Kuroi came to know of it and the Faunus that would teach him henceforth. Alyce Ackerman, an ex-slave, took upon the task of his training. During her days of service, she was head maid, specializing in housework as well as holding the duty of bodyguarding the master of the house. It was through her training that Kuroi would be put through, mimicking the woman's struggles in difficulty and training. How she put it was that any could take a class and slowly grasp the nature of any lesson, but true steel was forged in fire.

Her way of teaching altered; he would not fight because he wanted to succeed or win, he would fight because he needed to win. Sparring sessions were less like practice and more akin to life or death battles. Exercise would not continue in sets, but until his body completely gave out. Each mistake would be punished severely, as would it be in real combat. Whenever he'd come home, Kuroi would lie to his mother, explaining that the bruises came from a fight or something akin to it; not a complete fib technically. This routine would continue until he was thirteen.

From thereon, Kuroi would also participate in the organization's "alternate" activities. Typically these activities would pertain to breaking slaves out of brothels, plantations or camps, or protecting runaway slaves from those pursuing them. His participation in these matters would go on for two years, until his sister came home.

Back, but still in a way lost. Whatever their father had done to her in their time away had scarred the girl. She was distant, emotionless. It was as if the girl wanted to integrate into the family but she just wasn't sure how to do so, or how to act. Nonetheless, she was his sister, and now that he could do something, Kuroi was not going to let her be alone any longer.

It took work and effort, but slowly she began to open somewhat to his mother and him. Kuroi drifted out of participating in the Faunus organization's events with his sister there and schooling taking over training and preparation. The quiet years of his life flew past quickly, and soon were replaced with one issue or tragedy after another.

Suddenly, news arose of some Faunus being goaded into a fake rescue of a brothel sprung all over the news, claiming that the terrorists responsible for similar acts were ambushed with several killed and most injured in some manner.

Visiting Alyce later, Kuroi noted that she was heavily injured with an eyepatch covering where once her right eye was. Devastated by the new state of who he looked to as an aunt, Kuroi's determination took a bit of a blow. As if that weren't enough, with Alyce's organization crippled, more faunus began to rise, however without proper coordination or honor. The Faunus that rose in Alyce's time of injury were truly what the government titled them; terrorists. Traveling at night or alone, especially outside urban areas grew dangerous for Humans regardless of their position on Faunus or their ability to defend themselves. Add onto that the new trouble with his sister, Kuroi had his hands and heart full.

While Yami was making progress, Kuroi never truly understood how darkened her soul had been made until one afternoon. The terrorist group turned its sights on himself. Despite Alyce's training him and his participation in liberating operations, the terrorists viewed the organization as weak and traitorous to their kind, perhaps specifically because of Kuroi's involvement. However, they didn't expect it to turn out how it did.

Kuroi was most certainly capable of fighting them off on his own. Add in the help of his younger sister and they stood little chance. But in the midst of the siblings' history, something changed in Yami. The aggressiveness and brutality of the bandits suddenly sunk in comparison to his sister's. Yami began slaying the Faunus left and right. No mercy or pause. The scene did not stop until Kuroi stepped between Yami and the broken remainder of the ambush group. At that moment, Yami seemed to pause and return to her usual mentality.

Yami was more scarred than he and his mother had first believed. She possessed such a spiteful, hateful personality underlying her prominent one. One that saw life as a gift only to be given to the strong. One that saw murder as no major act. Yami could not recall the events nor her actions, and that seemed to shred whatever belief that they could somehow help or reform her.

For a short while, he truly believed there was nothing that could be done to alter the status quo—at least, not from the outside, not as someone who carried no weight in the world. Huntsmen did, however, even the less-known ones, and the strongest of them were recognized world-wide. This is what fueled his decision to join the Academy. The only way to change was to do it from the inside. As for his sister—he could only hope that with guidance and his watch that she could overcome this foul persona one day.

Weapons:
Melee/Ranged
The melee form of Kuroi's weapon is a 5" jagged blade of ebony capable of folding in for easy carrying or altering into a baton-like form for non-lethal combat, taking his semblance into consideration. For ranged capabilities, the blade is capable of transforming into a large, black handgun. The handgun then has the ability to either extend its nozzle for longer-range combat or to extend part of the blade in the case of possible melee combat.
rwby_oc___kuroga___fenrir_s_weapon_by_captyeger-d8lenyr.png

Semblance:
Blood for Blood: Describes Kuroi's Semblance fairly well. It is a berserker-type semblance that can only be made use of in desperate situations. Each person holds an ability to generate Aura, which protects their body and keeps their blood from spilling even in the midst of combat. Kuroi's works differently, however, in that in combat scenarios, rather than his body generating more aura to compensate for aura lost or depleted by intaken damage, his semblance channels newly generated aura the more damage taken into his weapon and attacks. Simply put, the more his own Aura gets cut through, the easier a time he has of cutting through the Aura of others.

This ability can be devastating to foes, especially when Kuroi's Aura has been depleted to the point of blood being spilled, however all the same it requires Kuroi to be in dangerous condition to activate. All the same, it is not a good fit for situations in which lethality is not wanted, making his semblance unusable in such cases.

(Yz is going to be making Kuroi's sister, unfortunately he's been having issues with his internet and PC and what he had done on her was erased. He's back to working on her, or will be soon.)

Yami Kotegawa
__azami_kagerou_project_drawn_by_chiyozaka__5ae133e7cf802097e0335effc332bb16.jpg

Reference:
Yami - Means "Darkness" in Japanese language.

16 y/o | Female | Human

Personality:
- Emotionally Numb -
Because of her Semblance, Yami cannot show any form of emotion output towards something. The girl herself is emotionally numb and cannot seem to feel or understand emotions, sometimes looking at it with curiosity and, depending on the personality she currently possesses, even disdain. Her father would many times advocate that emotions are a weak link in someone's mind and that they will always drag someone back or down, usually being their downfall. Although for most of her life, Yami believed him to be correct, her late time with her family has caused her to think otherwise. Yami has, ever since, been considering emotions as a foundation of incredible strength for those who have strong wills.

If anyone wants to achieve something, then having the ambition and the hope that everything will end up okay can be a serious help. However, she has also noted that despair and fear are the key to failing miserably. Despite this, she's curious regarding all emotions and seems to enjoy seeing other people's individual reactions towards a specific event, many times sparking a curiosity that causes her to admire or despise these same people.

- Attentive and Curious -
Yami's inquisitive nature is often caused by an attentive nature that is based on the fact that she seems to enjoy watching everything. The girl often is paying close attention to those near her and seems to greatly enjoy getting to know the people that she cares about.

This can be easily seen with how clingy she is to her brother, with how much attention she pays to other people's problems or words. It could be said that her perceptiveness is quite an ability, as she can notice things very quickly and learn about them just as quickly as well.

- Childish and Spoiled -
Yami can be childish and rather spoiled at some points, specially whenever she is near her brother or her mother. She enjoys clinging to either of them and can grow to feel the same towards someone she trusts or thinks can provide her some safety.

In a sense, however, if someone spoils her enough with sweet food, she may still grow attached to them, which is why Yami can be easily seen as a child. If anyone enjoys dotting on children, they're likely to enjoy Yami's reactions to being spoiled as well.

- Brother Complex -
Yami possesses a strong relationship with her brother, Kuroi. Mostly because she insisted on the fact that meeting him was one of the dreams of her life. When she discovered that she still had a family other than her father, she was overjoyed, or at least, intrigued. Yami went through great lengths to see her family and when she did, she didn't have anything to say to them other than "I'm home".

Although at first, the integration into the family was difficult, she quickly opened up to her brother mostly and later on to her mother. She's still very attached to her mother, but the case seems to be much worse when it comes to her brother. Although she doesn't mind being away from him or socializing with other people, she doesn't seem to enjoy if anyone gets far too close or clingy with her brother. Anyone other than her sitting or resting on his lap? Unacceptable!

Although one might think that such proximity to her brother and the jealousy are both emotional, but it's more of an instinctual thing, as Yami would explain.

- Severe Multiple Personality Disorder -
Yami suffers from a severe case of Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID), something caused by the period of time in which she was her father's "lab rat". Because of this, the girl possesses three distinct personalities and identities, with each having their own different thought patterns and cultural factors.

Thus far, only one of these personalities have surfaced, with the reason and cause for her appearance being unknown. This first personality that differs from Yami's has named herself "Yama". Yama seems specially self-aware and capable of understanding that she is part of a DID, which is ironic and slightly confusing, since she understand her position as a created personality rather than a real being.

In a sense, Yami's DID is clearly not common at all, and was likely caused by a severe memory loss or fragmentation, which would further prove that her father attempted to, at the last moments of his life, try to amend his own creation from destroying the world.

History:
A well-known scientist named Kuragari Kotegawa once attempted to create the perfect soldier. His hypothesis was that a Hunter without any emotions would serve as the perfect soldier, one that was unfettered by fears or by hesitation, but also not plagued with the weight of guilt or friendship. Without these emotions, a soldier could slay countless Grimm, as that would be their sole purpose. Of course, the government also thought of the possibility of using this soldier to hunt escaped Faunus, so Kuragari also extended his studies to the use of such soldier against fellow humans and faunus.

In the end, the man's research revealed something that the government ended up fearing: The weapon of the end of the world. Because of their fear, the government's decision was to prematurely finish his research, and claim that the man was mad and had lost his mind. Although they did so, they also accompanied him to a far away rural area of Anima, in which the man would live the rest of his life, with his mind forever lost to society. The plan was to shut him down without the need for violence, as he could react badly and end up seeing the government as an enemy.

Thus, the scientist, for a long time, lived in the rural areas of Anima. There, the man met the woman of his life. A young huntress, beautiful and kind. Her name was Kohaku. The scientist fell in love with the woman, and the two lived happily with each other for long years. They had two children in the process, a boy and a girl. They named the boy Kuroi and the girl Yami. However, nothing is peaceful forever, and eventually the government discovered that the scientist still continued with his research, in secret from both his family and them as well. To make him pay for that, they shamed him and told his wife of the atrocities that she the scientist had committed.

It was a few days after Yami was born... The two fought... Their voices echoed through the forest until finally, the man decided to run away. He took his baby daughter and escaped the woman's grasp, completely disappearing and never showing his face again.

With Yami, the man escaped to a remote island, where he saw refuge in an abandoned laboratory and base of operations. He laid traps and made sure he was not tracked. He did everything so they never discovered his location and that, even if they did, they'd never reach him. In this desolate place, the man began his research anew. He decided that the world wasn't befit of his genius that the only person he could help with it... Was his newborn daughter. He named her after the theory that he had first had... The theory that darkness would be the source of this new soldier's power.

He raised her kindly until she was 5 years old, but after that, he finally decided to begin his plan. He left his daughter in the test pits, a large forested location where he would make his daughter learn that her emotions were her weaknesses. During these tests, he threw many things at her. From demented Hunters he had captured to giant Grimm. The girl quickly adapted however.

After six years of this, he finally noticed that she was the perfect soldier. One without fear but without courage. She simply had one thing: An objective, a directive. To be perfect was this young girl's only aim...

However...

The scientist quickly noticed his mistakes. He knew that what fueled his actions were rage and despair... And because of that, he understood that what he did was unacceptable. He had doomed his daughter to an existence of nothing but vain orders. He hid from her his new objective and he started to plot behind her back. He wanted to rid her of these memories so she would return to 0. To become a normal person once more. However she grew wary of him and quickly thought that he'd try to dispose of her. After two years, the man initiated his plan, but with a prototype attempt, knowing well that any more time wasted would end up with her thinking he was betraying her.

His plan nearly succeeded, but the result was Yami's broken mind, accompanied by a disaster that ended up destroying the base, engulfing everything in flames and destroying all evidence of his actions as well. In the end, he died without anyone knowing of what he did, not even his daughter.

Yami was rescued by a group of hunters who were waiting for an opportunity to enter his base of operations. She was the sole survivor. She was taken back to her family at the age of fourteen, after some months of rehabilitation. It was then that she met up with her brother, Kuroi, and her mother, Kohaku. The introduction to the family was a bit difficult, but she slowly opened up and took a liking to both of them. Her mother and her brother tried to do everything so that she wouldn't remember of the years she had spent with her father and, in a sense, Yami was happy.

She was quick to notice her brother's hidden work and his ties to the Faunus, as well, but didn't seem to discriminate. She was happy to see that her family was accepting her until one day...

One day where Yami believes she did something very wrong. She doesn't remember anything of that day, but all she does remember is that when she woke up, there were many dead Faunus around her and a worried brother looking directly at her. Yami felt lost, as if she clearly had done something wrong, but she didn't seem to understand what she did. Little did she knew that in that day, a new persona of herself had appeared. One that not only was self-aware, but drastically different from her as well. One that believed power was everything and that only the strong were fit to live.

Although she drew conclusions, she still doesn't fully understand what happened in that day, although her brother seems to hold it back from her, as does her mother. Her curiosity might one day cause her to seek out the happenings of that day in order to know exactly what she did, though she may not need to seek too far.

Weapons
Ranged/Melee:
Kotegawa Swordspear

A very large, old weapon that was retrofitted to be part of the new generation of Hunters. The weapon seems ancient, dating times in which humanity fought the Grimm toe to toe. It mainly consists of a large faded gold long and thick rod of metal with the greatsword being attached at the end of the blade. The greatsword is finely crafted from old materials, but the retrofits made it more durable and similar to currently used materials, as well as added the support for the HF blading. The sword is purely white, with ornaments of gold and silver lined at it's tip.

This long rod of metal can be used as a Dust Cannon, an old version of the weapons currently used that shoots large caliber bullets that can be infused with Dust. The general uses remain the typical ones.

In old legends, the Swordspear was used to fend off large numbers of Grimm and was awarded to high-ranking members of an ancient family that lived in Vale. Over time, the weapon lost it's finesse and was substituted by weapons that were easier to wield. Due to it's difficulty, it was sometimes required for the wielder to spend years of his life attempting to master the weapon's unique aspects. This specific weapon was used to kill many Grimm in it's old times and was apparently given to the Kotegawa family as an heirloom and a gift of honor.

The weapon was drastically retrofitted however, and is now in "acceptable" terms with the new weapons of the Hunters. One of the bigger additions in the retrofits were both the change in the rod so that it accepted all elements of Dust as well as an addition in the greatsword so that it can be "infused" with Dust. This particular addition seems to have been made by Yami's father, Kuragari, who imagined that the weapon should have more uses. The Dust is sent into a compression chamber inside the greatsword, which then mechanically expels the Dust around the blade and makes it's elemental factors spread across it. It becomes a deadly and powerful weapon, although Yami herself rarely uses Dust.

Semblance:
Cellular Manipulation

Yami's Semblance allows her to extensively manipulate, shape and control cells. Although Yami's powers hint at the possibility of atomic manipulation as well, she doesn't seem to be able to do it consciously. Instead, this atomic manipulation can only be done subconsciously through emotional output. As such, Yami's emotions can be shown in such a way, with her reactions changing the environment in a small area around her.

Over the course of her youth, Yami's Semblance seemed to be in a constant effect of "evolution", resulting in Yami being able to manipulate things either more effectively or more precisely. This seems to have been greatly influenced by her father's attempts to make Yami become the "perfect soldier". Due to her lack of emotions, Yami would often use her ability in violent ways, which led to her other personalities possessing far more "expertise" than her. Yama, for example seems to be able to alter other people's cells without much hardship, whereas Yami needs to deeply focus in order to do it. It is likely that the other personalities may be even more skilled in the control of her own Semblance.

Yami will often rely on her Semblance a lot more than normal. She sometimes prefers to fight without any weapon, but she does so because she believes her Semblance can easily hurt others.

The most useful alterations Yami seems to be able to do is to either harden her own body in order to brace for impacts or powerful blows and also to deliver very strong and powerful attacks, or to flexibilize her own limbs in order to attack for longer ranges or move more freely. Yami can also lightly alter her appearance and even camouflage herself in the environment at will, although these abilities require more focus. In general, Yami can literally do whatever she wants with her own cells, but the level of focus depending on the action seems to greatly vary.

Aside from that, Yami can freely and consciously manipulate all of the cells in her body at will, consuming her own Aura in the process to do so. Once Yami is out of "Aura" or she doesn't possess enough to make specific alterations, Yami suffers a great deal of pain instead.

With enough focus, Yami may also alter other people's cells.

Murphy Portare
The Assassin who doesn't kill

17y.o | Male | Faunus

Personalities:
Selfless
Murphy which have said that he was born with his mother's kindness. At a young age he helped find a boy who got lost in the woods, he told a girl who lost her father that he would invite her to live with them and share his dad to be her father, and hugged his dad whenever he remembers his wife. Always seeking to better people's situations as much as he can. His mother used to say that Murphy has the biggest heart of anyone she knows. He will even catch a bullet for you without hesitation but with things he had done previously. All the lives that his father spent in the past was the burden he received from him when he killed him. Now putting his life on the line to atone for his sins against people that suffered including those who he killed was the only thing he could do for those who lost them and those who got hurt because of it.
Upright
Is it because he killed his father and serve the humans to protect his fellow Faunus to create a better world for them is why he is so tight being just and right. He is a Faunus attending the astounded academy for gifted children that hopes to become a figurehead in society. Leading a proper example for other Faunus to follow and proving to the humans that the Faunus can be just as equal as they are. Promoting that even with a corrupted and unjust government can be changed from the inside can be achieve even by the most unlikely people. As long the law wills it and he will obey to the fullest of his capability but if anyone else clouded by the darkness of war in their hearts, he will not hesitate to hesitate to bend some.
Ambitious
Scared by his past, Murphy would do anything just to achieve his goals; attaining peace among Faunus and Humans as equals. You think a son of a rebel father wouldn't think of this but this is due to how devasted he became when he saw his innocent friend dead in the battle between Faunus and Humans. And only a young age of 17, aspiring to changing the government from the inside is a big and difficult task even for those who have power.
Sensitive
Influenced and driven by his ambition and compassion towards others, he would often be swayed by emotion but is still controllable but can be dangerous when he can't handle the pain too much. The death of his mother and his friend would make him realize the truth about fighting and what we were trying to fight for. You could say that his entire life changed because two of the most important people in his life died only days apart. Nevertheless, he is at an age of 17 and nothing is set on stone, he might learn to control or loosen his emotions within his time in the academy.
Silent
Murphy has many things to hide like killing his father out of anger; he had a human friend despite his fathers orders not to interact with them; and even lies to himself that he tries to put himself in danger in order to save others but his true intention is to die without raising suspicion. Tho every time he risk his life in danger, Murphy still doesn't want to die because of his mother's wish. He keeps a lot of secrets and is trustworthy when keeping one. Besides from keeping secrets he also speak less when unnecessary and would often just hang around friends listening to their stories, sometimes adding his own if its not that gruesome.

History:
Quite a distance away from the City of Windpath, hidden here one of the many secret hideouts that the rebellion had against the new governing body lies Murphy Partare. Though he was conceived and was born inside the city walls of Windpath like most Faunus children. The Portare Kin is characterized by their brown dark fur and golden colored hair along with their most notable long pointy ears. His Father, the leader of the rebels of the area, insistent on taking out the humans and will do anything to achieve his goal of freeing his Faunus brethren from slavery. While his mother at his side, they pushed an aggressive attack that his father led against the humans to escape from Windpath. Her wounds and injuries that she have gotten during the escape was life critical, got bedridden but recovered afterwards. This life threatening moment made his fathers anger for the humans even worse.

Murphy's early childhood is quite ordinary, he would often just play with kids around his age and sleep in the afternoon but without anytime with his father since he was too busy with looking out for the hideout but would have bedtime stories with his mother before going to bed. A carefree life for this boy but at the age of 7, his semblance manifested when while he was playing hide and seek with his peers suddenly clouds appeared out of nowhere with objects all out of their place and barricaded in the center was Murphy still crouching hoping his friends wouldn't find him. Having a sudden interest on his son's semblance which had caused the disturbance, his father thought of ways how Murphy could incorporate this into a lethal weapon used against the humans. Thus he would receive rigorous training to improve his own combat skills using his semblance. Building up physical strength, stamina, sword and dagger mastery, and gifted naturally with agility he could handle whatever his father would give to him.

While going inside the woods to strengthen his stamina and agility as his fathers orders, Murphy would bump into the most unexpected visitor. A human boy right around his age that has pale skin and brown hair with a bow and arrow behind his back. Murphy would jump out backwards and prepared a defensive stance due to his perspective of the humans to be a representation of evil that is based from what his father would tell him. Only to be greeted with a smile and an apology for bumping into him earlier and was caught off guard by how he acted. He apologized back at the kid and introduced themselves to each other. The boy's name is Ryo Ryujin and he lived in a nearby village that hunts animals and sells furs to visiting merchants. Ryo was running and trying to catch the animal he didn't successfully killed up until he bumped into Murphy. Soon the two kids would meet everyday on the same spot right after Murphy's exercise and Ryo's hunting trip where they would play around and hang out, getting each other better and eventually became good friends.

Years passed, the hideout of the Faunus still remain hidden from the humans, was doing fairly well since everyone was enjoying their peaceful lives but oddly enough Murphy's Father was still unsatisfied because they have only been doing thievery against the local farms and caravans around the area. Ambitious as he can be, he would find dangerous missions for his men including his son to take. Each quest sometimes more dangerous than the previous one. Murphy more often would do reconnaissance seeing that his semblance could sneak past people without ever noticing him scouting farms and caravans for guards and anything out of the ordinary while on his spare time would take time to talk and hang out with Ryo. Until one day a heavily guarded caravan strolled through their area, harboring big boxes of various sizes and caravans made out of steel and hardened wood with elite guards protecting from the rear and back. In front was a knight clad in armor shinier than anyone in the group, suspected to be a highly ranking officer. Highly suggests the caravan was filled with supplies that can last them for months. Taking a big risk, his father would call in the mission to steal the goods at any cost.

Having successfully raided the caravan and killing most of the humans except for some who escaped, they reaped the fruits of their labor and held a feast honoring the victory they had and the brothers that was sacrificed to achieve this moment but little did they know that the high ranking official was the son of the local Lord. Soon after that, the humans increased their patrols, guards on caravans, and even having a searching party to scout out their hideout eventually mobilizing a force to fight back. Being in the home advantage, numbers wouldn't matter if properly planned and executed. There were close calls and battles that had to be fought over longer than planned but all is good and well until the humans overwhelming manpower and resilience have thinned out the Faunus to the point of breaking. Enemies keep slipping through their lines and wandering around the area near their hideout eventually finding clues and whereabouts of their secret refuge. Then the humans strike a surprise attack that would deal a devastating blow to the Faunus. Killing all the Faunus adults even children, destroying their homes, setting to flames equipment, and food they have stored for the winter. They fought back the humans and was victorious in their battle but many have died just to save what they call home. Coming back from reconnaissance, Murphy would only see dead bodies, both Faunus and humans, piled all over the floor like some wet cloth.

Everything lost but their lives, they thought of escaping out of this but the humans have them encircled but being considerate and having them surrender or meet their demise. Most Faunus including Murphy wanted to surrender but his father wouldn't allowed it. He would rather let the entire hideout be killed than to surrender to human scum. At first no one rejected the idea because of how unpredictable it can if they surrendered but the enemy has a clever plan. Without supply nor reinforcements, they would just encircle the area for no Faunus could go out and wait them out until they die of either starvation or their own foolishness to attack a well defended encirclement. With no option left, the Faunus would attack a part of the encirclement with hopes to break through but all effort is wasted since they were tired and have low morale due to the circumstances. During this Murphy's mother died while retreating because of how unorganized they were, she couldn't escape fast enough to safety. Murphy screamed and yelled running to his mother; seeing her slashed behind her back then picking her up and deliver her to safety. This time her wounds were severe compared to the last that she didn't survived but her last words to Murphy was something he would not forget and it was "live a life worth living". Tho his father have heard his wife died, he did not cared at all because he was thinking of how will they escape. This has made Murphy quite angry.

Talking to his father about what happened to his mother and why he has not visited her is a surprise to him but the cold shoulder was all that he gave him. Murphy seeing that his father has no care at all throws a dagger then having his father deflected it which was thrown back to the ground underneath him. Suddenly Murphy used his semblance to switch between two matters resulting in the steam like aura coming out, he was in kneeling position with "46 and 2" out that looked like that it had slashed something and his fathers chest began to bleed then had been cut into two parts which he died right after. Now the remaining Faunus with no leader and nowhere to go decided to pack their belongings and head out to surrender to the humans but Murphy before going would like to say goodbye to his human friend only to see his village been raided and trampled. Hurried over to his house he sees him lying on the floor alongside still breathing but slowly dying alongside blood of his dead family scattered all over. Only to smile at Murphy before he close his eyes and also died then set the house on fire and walked away realizing that the very thing he was fighting for would hurt others and vice versa. So he decided that everything that exists is wrong and would like to change everything but instead of killing others to achieve change rather he would change everything from the inside. Climbing the hierarchy of power that no Faunus would have done and that both human and Faunus would benefit from change he will make.

Weapons:
Murphy is equipped with "Forty six and 2", two double edged short sword characterized by their heaviness, thickness, and being near unbreakable. Forged from multiple dusts concentrations making it into a Dust stone which resembles a sword that can easily penetrate hard rock metals like it was nothing. Since it was formed from multiple dust, it has no property that categorizes it but became durable and refined instead that is nearly unbreakable even from an incoming attack of a semblance holder or Grimm. He would hold the two swords as if it were daggers; it protrudes from the bottom of the hand, rather than the top of the closed fist, resembling the way one would normally use an ice pick for its intended use. And turns back to the forehand position whenever necessary. Also having multiple bags of throwing daggers used for either medium to long range attacks depending on the situation at hand. Made out of high carbon steel giving it a lighter but tougher density that can penetrate anything like butter which was plenty near the mountains just outside of the hideout. His father taught him how to fight with these weapons when he received them as a gift from him for his 10th birthday.

Semblance:
Matter Transference. The ability to swap locations between two objects at touch. The requirements for the object to be swapped for another goes the same. You must have touched both objects and forgotten after 48 hours and should be near enough to him, approximately 20-25 kilometers. Goes without saying, the laws of physics thermodynamics is not forgotten and everything and anything should be applied.

Aura:
His Aura manifests whenever he uses his semblance. It is characterized by a white, heavy, and hazy that acts like steam coming out from a machine which disseminates after a few seconds.

Others:
He always bite a wheat steam out of his mouth, this somewhat relaxes so he doesn't usually remove it. Only when fighting seriously will he drop it.

Emrys "The Phoenix" Falk
dust_and_smoke_by_shimmering_sword-d4l4dg7.jpg

Etymology:
Emrys is the Welsh form of the name Ambrose, which means "immortal one." This was one of the epithets attributed to the wizard from myth named Merlin. Falk simply means falcon. A merlin is a type of falcon. (Hope you can figure out what I am not so subtly hinting at.)

Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Cyborg/ Former Human
Personality: INFJ: Generally quiet and logical, but has a strong moral and emotional compass. Has a strong hate for Grimm. Below his cold metallic exterior, he is kind and compassionate.
Tactics: In combat, Emrys' étiquette changes depending on the enemy. Against human, he prefers to use non-lethal means to subdue targets. Against Grimm, Emrys prefers to take a centralized position and attract as many Grimm to him as possible to protect whom ever he maybe fighting with. He is notably more lethal (borderline barbaric) against Grimm.

mass_element_by_shimmering_sword.jpg

History: Emrys was originally fast tracked to become a hunter and completed his education when he was 15. Attached to one of the most promising and elite teams of hunters and huntresses, he distinguished himself for his level head and quick thinking. Within his squad of four however, Emrys was very much the 'omega' of the pack, as his teammates out-classed him in terms of raw power or skill. Determined to make himself useful, he began to design and improve the equipment for the team. People close to the team say that Emrys' re-designed weapons were favored by the members of team M.A.G.E.

Most of his engagements after graduating had to do with settling White Fang uprisings. Team M.A.G.E was in route to investigate some strange activity in an abandoned town called Moore's Peak, when they were intercepted by an unknown Grimm species, capable of ripping a transport out of the sky in one pass. They crash landed in a ruined city and spent the next two days evading detection from an unusually large and organized Grimm pack. On the third day, the squad was wiped out excepting Emrys who was dismembered to the point where he no longer had any fully functional limbs. Any details apart from these were classified.

After being airlifted out, Emrys went into intensive surgery to save is life. Expensive and effective cybernetics were implanted to replace any missing limbs or body parts. Oddly enough, the Schnee Dust Company fronted the bill for his medical expenses. Now, Emrys is being sent back to The Academy to re-train and make modifications to his prosthetics. Initial tests of his systems appear promising, despite an incident...

Weapons:
Simple Pistol- Just like it sounds, it is a pistol that shoots bullets (45's if anyone needs to know).
Simple Knife
'Crestfallen' - a meter long weapon which is half staff and half blade. The blade has a long hollow along the center of the blade and the head of the staff has a deep crimson stone. He classifies the weapon as a staff-sword.
Longsword (Generally does not use)- Weapon from one of his past squad members. The weapon is very ornate and seemingly well crafted. Refuses to use weapon and states that he is "not worthy' to wield the blade.
Broken weapon hilt: Insists that it is a weapon and a very deadly one at that. The make of the original weapon is unclear.

heat_shield_by_shimmering_sword-d5q4msj.jpg

Semblance: Although once his semblance was simple fire, his condition has now changed it to plasma or flame with a large electromagnetic charge. The flames are super heated and produce arcs of electricity, generally spreading the blaze. Dust reacts poorly around I'm as his systems tend to super charge and activate the substance when he makes contact, although he can store the energy from the reaction in his core.

Aura: Emrys' aura is hard to discern from his cybernetics, but generally appears as a cardinal or ruby red, with pinks and purples accompanying it. [During his 'Apex state' (See Other) it is common to see these colors dance around him, making it even harder to place it's true color.]

light_is_best_seen___by_shimmering_sword.jpg

Emrys' Cybernetics can be customized and scaled up or down depending on the operation. The pale plating is smooth to the touch and ceramic looking, which cuts down the reflective surfaces of the alloy. These plates are set over a 'form fitting' underlay which masks the majority of mechanical parts. Most of the plating can be removed however, some protrusions from chest must remain on as they contain life support systems and his core.
Emrys' physical appearance is slender, with an androgynous facial structure. His neck length hair is a copper-ish color in the light and a light brown in the shadow, which he generally keeps in a ponytail or bun. The dark circles around the eyes is a result of the hormonal changes due to his extensive prosthetics, which also may explain the more androgynous features. (Would require more cases like Emrys to properly study)

beast_by_shimmering_sword-d5dl76i.jpg

Apex State (Unexplained): Under extreme stress, all of Emrys' systems overload due to a surge of insane power. It is unclear how Emrys ever survives these events as all of his life support systems overload when this occurs. They are indeed events, as they are spectacular to watch as they are dangerous. Flames and lightning dance from his blades and finger tips as dances about, consuming all in storm of purple, blue, pink, red, and orange flames. One of these events was filmed by a hunter, who placed it on a video sharing site. According to Emrys, these events are immensely painful, embarrassing and would prefer they do not happen. Luckily, these events have only been directed toward Grimm. (May remove)

Nikandros Volkov
age 17 years old ----• • •---- gender Male ----• • •---- race Human

01. Personality

[ Loud & Temperamental ]
Finding Nik is never a difficult task. The boy is practically a walking megaphone. Nik talks pretty loudly; even his whispers are loud. It can be quite obnoxious, but after a while, people get used to it. Majority of the time Nik doesn't even realise that he's raising his voice, even though he has excellent hearing.

Nik isn't just loud in a literal sense, he's also loud in the sense that he can be pushy when it comes to his views. He's definitely not afraid of voicing out his opinions on things, even when he's in the minority. When he sees something is wrong, he says it. He also isn't afraid to call out someone's bullshit--though he doesn't always do this in the most pleasant ways and that has gotten into trouble many a times. Nik stands up for what he believes in. He makes sure that people know what his stand is--even if it can get him in trouble. For Nik, getting himself in trouble doesn't matter, so long as his message is delivered, then it's good enough for him.

Unfortunately, Nik is also a rather hot headed person. It does take much to rile up Nik. He loves to tease people, but when it's his turn to be teased, he gets upset pretty easily. Nik is easily ticked off even by the tiniest of things. He's very impulsive and would let his emotions take over his actions more often than not. This, and his bad temper, has led him to a couple of fights here and there in the past. It doesn't help that Nik has a bad habit of jumping to conclusions. He has a tendency to overlook the other side of things, especially when angered.

[ Loyal & Selfish ]
Sharing was never one of Nik's strong points; in fact, he strongly dislikes having to share what is his. He can be quite possessive of things and, sometimes, even people. What is his is his alone and he makes sure that people are well aware of this. Nik is always very hesitant to lend people anything he owns. He fears it may never return to him. Even simply touching his things without his permission ticks him off. Nik knows when his things are out of place by just the slightest.

Though he is rather selfish, Nik is also rather loyal. He doesn't trust many but those that he does consider to be his friends have his undying loyalty. For them, he would go through great lengths just to keep them happy and safe. They are the people he listens to the most. He supports them in whatever endeavour they decide to take and doesn't question their decisions--no matter how dodgy it may seem. Nik simply trusts that they would do the right thing. The only time that he would doubt his friends would be when they insist that he do something against his moral code. He knows that a true friend would never force him to do something he doesn't wish to do. Once that seed of doubt has been planted, it's quite hard and almost impossible for the person to regain Nik's full trust.

[ Dauntless & Aggressive ]
There aren't many things that Nik fears and, unlike most, death isn't one of them. Nik isn't afraid of dying, which greatly explains why he has reckless tendencies. He often charges into a battle head on with his only plan being "Don't die." He may not fear death, but that doesn't mean he longs for it. Still, he is very aggressive and nearly jumps at every opportunity at a battle, specially one against Grimm.

Though Nik is quite violent and aggressive, he does have some semblance of self restraint. He wouldn't hit people just because he was angry and whatnot. He's a hot head, but he has morals as well. He knows that physically taking his anger out on others was just plain wrong. He does, however, tend to take it out on the next object that he spots nearby resulting in his notoriety for breaking things. However, when a person has done him or his loved ones wrong, then he doesn't hesitate to pick a fight with them.

As tough and scary (and psychopathic) as he may seem, Nik is actually afraid of bunnies. He flinches at the first sight of them. It was a fear he developed when he was still a kid and never grew out of. He swears that all bunnies are evil and are slowly working to take over the world. People find it funny how the idea of dying barely fazes him, but a little adorable fur-ball can send him cowering.

[ Competitive & Impatient ]
If there's anything that Nik hates more than people messing with his things, it'd be losing. Nik is a very competitive person and hates the idea of having to retreat from a battle. It may be a wise decision at times, but to Nik, it's like admitting defeat. Losing can put him in a sour mood for up until a whole week. A loss is something he never forgets.

The act of waiting is another thing he hates. Long queues annoy him greatly. Nik is the type of person who easily gets bored. He constantly wants to be doing something fun and exciting. There may be a ton of things that he needs to do, but if they all bore him, he'll push them away try to find something else to do. He's a procrastinator when it comes to things he finds boring and unworthy of his time and effort. Nik is quick to lose interest in things. Growing up, he received tons of video games as gifts. He enjoyed most of them to the point of playing them everyday, but after a month or so he gets bored of them. There are only a handful of games that he's finished in his collection.

02. History

The bastard son of William Volkov; Nik was conceived before his father was wed to his current wife, Anastasia. His mother, Julia Elwyn, raised him for eight years before passing away. Prior to her death, both mother and son had been in contact with Nik's father. William had contacted Julia with the intention of apologising to her for how things ended between them; he was completely unaware that they had a son together. It was only when the two decided to meet and catch up did Julia tell him about Nik. Naturally, William wished to visit his son and being the kindhearted person that she was, Julia granted his wishes. That was how Nik met his father. William visited him and his mother every other day for a month or so before Julia died. The authorities labelled her death as an accident, and no one questioned it.

Upon his mother's death, Nik was taken by his father and started living under their roof. It was then he met his pregnant step mother, Anastasia. From the first meeting alone, Nik already knew that the woman was no good. In front of her husband, her attitude towards Nik was all hugs and smiles, but when he was away, she was the evil stepmother. Anastasia hated Nik, he was the living reminder that William loved--and still loves--his ex-girlfriend Julia. Of course, Nik didn't know about this as a kid. He wondered why Anastasia hated him so much despite being a good kid as he remembers. She never beat him up, but her attitude towards him was horrible. Nik tried telling his father once, but before he could, Anastasia threatened him, saying that William would never believe him over her. Being the little boy that he was, Nik easily believed her lie and never told his father.

A month after he arrived, Anastasia gave birth to a young baby boy named Devon. Anastasia spoiled his baby boy while she continued to treat Nik like dirt. This unfair treatment continued to slip by his father whose presence at home was barely there due to his work. Looking back, Nik found it amazing how his father had managed to visit constantly the month before his mother died. Two years later, Nik had grown sick of being in a house where people hated him--or at least, Anastasia did. The staff in the house were merely ordered by the she-devil to ignore him and pretend he didn't exist. Nik didn't find them at fault at first, and couldn't find it in himself to blame them, but within the span of the year he started to think that they were partially at fault for how miserable he felt. Anyone of the maids could've reported to his father about what their mistress was doing, yet they didn't.

The thought that he wasn't wanted at home was implanted into his head. The only times when he felt wanted and loved where when his father was around. William couldn't be home much, but when he was he made it a point to spend it all with his son. This only triggered Anastasia to be more resentful of Nik. She started implanting the idea of Nik being the one to blame for his father's absence at home. The thought festered in his mind till he started to believe it. Not knowing any better, he decided to ran away from home while his father was away on a trip. He thought that maybe they'd all be better off without him there. Nik left a note on his bed addressed to his father, telling him why he was leaving.

The note never reached William, Anastasia made sure of it. She instead told him that Nik was simply an ungrateful child. But William loved his son, and he did everything he could to search for his little boy. Finding Nik proved to be harder than anticipated. For a solid year and a half, Nik miraculously managed to be left unfound. Anastasia had a part of it, she made certain that Nik was hard to find, covering up his traces for him. William was oblivious to this, he didn't even stop to think about anything else apart from his finding his son. It was admirable how William never gave up looking for him despite how long he'd been missing. The hatred that Anastasia felt for the boy grew even more thanks to this.

Nik had left with little money which only lasted him a month. He tried to find a job, but no one would hire a fraile little boy. Instead, Nik resorted to thievery. It was then Nik learned the harshness of reality. One day, as he was trying to steal some food to feed himself, he nearly got caught. A faunus with a wolf's tail helped him out by leading him to a safe spot as hey were chased by the shop owner. Nik later learned that his was name was Kole and was roughly a five years older than him. Nik was originally apprehensive of him, due to him being a faunus, but Kole kept popping up everywhere he was. He quickly became his friend and partner in crime--literally. Kole was friendly and mischievous, it wasn't hard to befriend him. His friendship with Kole made him question why people discriminated against faunus so greatly.

During his time with Kole, Nik learned how to fight with his hands, how to stand up to himself. He felt like a new person. Gone was the Nik who let people walk over him, who let people threatened him. He felt reborn and he loved it. It was amazing how much he changed in the short span of time they've been together. Unfortunately, he may have gotten a bit too courageous. He was so eager to fight anyone who insulted them and most especially, anyone who insulted Kole for being a faunus. This has resulted in them getting into quite a number of scruffs on almost on a daily basis.

Alas, his time with Kole didn't last forever. Their petty crime duo was broken when they finally got caught. It was meant to be a simple job, their usual 'get food and go' that they do each day, but it ended up greatly different from what the expected. No one was supposed to die, and yet, someone did. Nik doesn't recall the details, all he knows is that as they were escaping, he heard a gunshot and his friend's scream. The next thing he knew, Kole was lying in a pool of his own blood--dead. Nik was taken by the authoroties and it was then that his father finally found him.

He was devastated. He refused to come out of his room for weeks. The closest friend--no, the best, friend he ever had was now dead. Nik couldn't help but blame himself. If he did something, if things were done differently, if he didn't leave home in the first place, then Kole might still be alive.

After several weeks of mourning and locking himself in his room, Nik finally went back to living his life. Anastasia's attitude towards him didn't change, but now, Nik didn't let the bitch get to him. He still didn't tell William about Anastasia's attitude towards him though; he believed that his father loved the royal bitchiness and didn't want to spoil it for him just for his selfish reasons. He played with his younger half-brother a lot; the kid actually adores him. Although Nik hates his mother, he had no reason to hate the child. His dad started making sure to balance his time between work and home. He would make sure that his weekends were free to spend time with his two sons. Life was starting to look better for Nik.

When he reached fourteen, a question started to plague his mind: what did he want to do in life? The question was sparked by his father. During on of their father son outings, William had asked Nik what he aspired to be. Nik couldn't answer the question at the time. Being the kind man that he is, his father reassured him that it was fine, that he was still young and had time to think about it. Nik started looking up what he could do. Nothing seemed to appeal to him until he came across The Academy. Nik has already heard about The Academy, but he looked more into it and the more it did, the more and more appealing it became to him. Eventually, he decided that this was it, this was what he wanted to do.

03. Weaponry

Nik has two weapons at his disposal: Devourer and Lupus Anima.

[ Lupus Anima ]
A finger-less glove worn on his right hand. It's embedded with four diamond shaped knuckledusters. At the centre of glove's backhand is a circular dust compartment with six slots. Each knuckleduster is linked to the topmost chamber in the dust compartment for dust dispersal. The dust exits through a pinhole at the front of the knuckleduster, this gives Nik's punches added effect from the dust.

The following are the dusts which is loaded into Lupus Anima's compartment and their respective effects to the target:
  • Wind - Emits a gust of wind upon punching a surface. Used mostly to propel himself off a surface. Nik is able to use it both defensively and offensively. He's able to propel himself out of danger, at the same time he can use the acceleration he gets from the propulsion to hit his target harder.
  • Fire - Burns the target on contact. If Nik hits hard enough, he is able to cause an explosion. Although it is able to do great damage to his target, he may also sustain damage from the explosion due to how close he is upon causing it.
  • Ice - Freezes the target area. Due to the nature of the weapon, Nik is unable to freeze huge targets in one hit, but he is able to freeze smaller parts of a target, such as their limbs, to render that part immobile. Punching the ground, or any flat surface, allows him to create a thin sheet of ice over it.
  • Lightning - Shocks the target which may cause temporary paralysis. The only dust in his arsenal whose effects remain the same regardless of how hard he hits his target; hitting harder will not make it more likely to paralyse his target.
  • Steam - Releases a fog of steam in the nearby surrounding area of the punch. Hitting harder causes more steam to be released. This steam fog allows him to move stealthly and confuse the enemy. It also gives him the opportunity to make quick and stealthy escape.
  • Gravity - Gives his punches an added force making them two times heavier and stronger. Although Nik considers gravity to be his most powerful dust, he does not use it very often and especially not in continuous succession. Due to the pull his hand receives from the use of it, it can dislocate his arm--something that Nik has learned the hard way.

[ Devourer ]
Devourer is a chainsaw sword (chainsword) that Nik wields primarily with his left hand. On its hilt is a lightning crystal which serves as the source of power for the chainsword as opposed to the use gas.

It features an inactive mode which Nik calls its sheathed mode. During this mode, the chainsword shows no signs of it being a chainsword. The edges are blunt making it seem more of a paddle than a sword. It is these blunt edges that make the sword safe to carry around, usually holstered on Nik's left side. Although its edges aren't sharp, Nik can still use Devourer to fight with even in this mode. Striking hard enough can still leave an opponent staggering and even break a few bones.

From sheathed mode, the edges retract to the middle to reveal the chainsword that lays inside. This is Devourer's active mode. Unlike a regular chainsaw, the chainsword is lighter and can be wielded with one hand.

On the handle is a trigger, holding it down activates the chainsword. The moment Nik releases his hold on the handle, the chainsword stops spinning. Switching between sheathed and chainsword is also done through this trigger. Pressing the trigger twice in rapid succession switches whatever mode Devourer was in into the other.

04. Aura & Semblance

[ Rapid Cellular Regeneration / Healing Factor ]
Nik's semblance allows him to regenerate cells in his body faster than normal. This enables him to heal minor wounds, such as cuts, bruises and light burns, faster. Reproducing blood cells can be hastened thus allowing him to be able to recover from minor blood loss. Unfortunately. Nik's semblance is limited only to himself; he cannot heal anyone else but himself. The bigger the wound is trying to heal, the more energy and aura is drained from him.

Although he can regenerate cells, there are still limitations to the extent he can heal. For one, he is unable to reattach or regrow a dismembered limb. He can't heal fatal wounds completely, such as damage to internal organs and the nervous system, but he can close up any wounds to prevent further blood loss. Lastly, Nik is unable to heal fatally damaged cells such as in the case of a severe burn.

Unlike comic book characters, such as Wolverine, Nik's regeneration isn't automatically done by his body. Nik has to concentrate on the wound he wishes to heal for it to work. His aura, light grey in colour (timberwolf), surrounds the wound which he is healing. This makes it harder for him to heal himself in the midst of a battle. It should also be noted that while the cell regeneration process is faster, it is not instantaneous. The bigger the damage / the more cells that need to be regenerated, the longer the healing will take. Nik is unable to heal multiple wounds at once, thus, he prioritises the wounds that are most severe which he is capable of healing.

05. Others

[ Dogs ]
latest
Nik loves dogs. He can easily get distracted by one. When he's in a sour mood, or one of his fits, playing with a dog makes him forget what it was that he was mad or upset about. Nik has a rather goofy smile around these animals. They simply bring him great joy.

While he loves just about every dog out there, his favourite dog would always be his pet corgi, Helios. Helios has been with him since he was fourteen. His father got him a dog in hopes it would help him cheer up after the loss of his friend. At first, Nik hated the dog and he was mad at his father for giving it to him. He felt as if his father thought that a dog would be able to replace the friend he lost. After a while though, he eventually warmed up to the pup and now he loves him to bits.

Helios has orange fur, quite similar to a painting that his mother made. It was a picture of an orange corgi playing with a blue ball. The painting had always been Nik's favourite and was hung on the corridor wall leading to his room. Nik remembers showing it to his father when he was younger and telling him how it was his favourite out of his mom's works. Looking back, Nik thinks that Helios having an orange fur was no mere coincidence. He has no doubt that his father had specifically chosen the dog for him because he remembered the painting that little Nik excitedly showed and told him about. It made Nik love both Helios and his father even more.

[ View on Faunus ]
Faunus used to scare him. As a little kid, he thought they would gobble him up. He was six when his little fear turned into something completely different. Influenced by his playmates and neighbours, Nik started to think lowly of them as well. He wasn't exactly sure why he easily accepted the view of others so easily. Meeting a befriending Kole changed turned his opinion a complete 180 degrees. He started to see that faunus weren't as bad as people made out to be.

[ Not-so-important Details ]
• Nik's dominant hand is his left.
• A fan of graffiti art; he dabbles in it every now and then (story).
• He loves to eat meat. When it comes to his steak, his preference is medium raw.

06. Appearance

latest
Nik has grey, somewhat messy, short hair. He likes to keep it short so that it stays out of his way. His eyebrows are thick on end and thin out on the other making them look sharp and 'angry' as some would say. Nik's eyes are sharp and of a golden colour. A mischievous smile sits on his face most of the time--exceptions would be when he's angered or in a bad mood. His smile is really the only thing that people can rely on to accurately tell the mood he's in. His eyes and eyebrows simply make it seem like he's mad all the time. He's quite tall, standing at a height of 6'2" and still growing. He weights about 158 lbs, not too skinny, but not too fat either.

Both of his ears are pierced; on his left, he wears a simple silver hoop earring, and on his right are two silver studs. Nik can usually be found wearing his black leather jacket. His style is casual but at the same time somewhat edgy. From time to time, Nik likes to wear a white hooded jacket with wolf ears attached to it. Wearing it with his hood up in public often causes whispering and incredulous looks among the people who sees him, but Nik doesn't really give a fuck. It's his way of showing that he doesn't share the opinion of the public when it came to faunus.

Friday
"I seek a glory for my house that only the sun could ever know of."

Age:
18
Gender:
Female

Race:
Faunus

Personality:
"I serve gladly, and loyally."
A Faunus who is proud to serve her family. Perhaps it is that she was less of a slave, and more of an attack dog that the Grandshelt family pampered that Friday truly shows nothing but love and care for the members of Grandshelt. She is entirely subservient to many around her, so long as they give her proper instructions, and not mistreat her, and has an amazing ability to shut off noise around her, especially insults geared towards her kind. She is, however, quick to defend those around her, both Faunus and human. It is, after all, what her young master would have done in her shoes. To insult her is of no import- she has a will of steel. To wish ill intent of those around her, however, especially those she would call 'friends', is to have one's death wish writ and signed.

A hunter (lowercase letters) of the most dangerous game, and a seeker of challenge is what most would describe Friday. There is no wall that stands in her way that she cannot eventually surmount...or knock over if it comes to that. She pursues a target of self-amelioration with a dedication that many are unable to compare to, adding more and more to the list according to what she needs to surpass. She treats her peers as such, and is drawn to strength and power as well as charisma like a moth to flame.

She is amazingly perceptive of the wants and moods of people, a trait that she must learn in her years as a servant of Grandshelt. It is in her stated duties to be always one step, if not two, ahead of her masters, visitors, and potential threats, and to prepare accordingly. It is no different for her as a student of the Academy. She is subservient, to a certain point, to her peers, even the other Faunus, and will hold their needs at high import, providing and serving as needed. She synergises well with anyone at all, changing her movement in battle based simply on how her partner(s) fight.

As what can be almost be considered a major domo of the Grandshelt household, there are certain behavioural traits expected of Friday. She speaks with a polite intonation and vocabulary- even her insults are delicately worded. To some, she may sound archaic and horrendously loquacious, but bear with her. It is, after all, in her stated duties to uphold the respect others have for her house, and to lack in manners is akin to besmirching the name of Grandshelt.

History:
"To each their own trials and tribulations."

A slave from birth, raised to fight and spill the blood of those who disagreed with her masters, that was what Friday was made for. And such was a life that she was content with.

Born on a Friday, she was christened as such, and given away for a meagre bullion. Alexander Grandshelt, a nobleman of blue blood, would have thought this a proper investment, but what he knew not was that Friday was the runt of her lot. It didn't matter on the long run, since she more than made up for the price, and to this day, he has never regretted taking her into his household.

She was raised alongside Alexander's child, who was given a strict regimen of lessons when he could read, and training when he could hold a sword, but with a silver plate and cutlery at every meal. Friday was treated to lessons on watching over his back, taught to keep a knife at ready, to bite those who came close to her quarry, and given, to the surprise of most who hear this tale, proper meals of meat. To the Grandshelt family, she was a fledgling attack dog. To Friday, however, they were her family. She had their expectations, and she would hold them dearly for years to come.

"You are to be my opponent, Friday." were Gregory Grandshelt's first words directed straight to her, during one of his lessons. He had never spoken directly to her before, perhaps due to the stigma that Faunus suffered. "You are to train with a sword, and I will challenge you to a duel by the week." Those were his orders. Humored, Alexander Grandshelt, who knew of Friday's fixation with lessons of swordplay, and her already existing skill, allowed this, and even went as far as to clear her to show no mercy when facing his son. It would do him no good if she were to go easy on him. So she took up the sword alongside him, and learned with him. Alexander was pleased to discover that his son was improving by leaps and bounds with the challenge of attempting to defeat his aide, and to his credit, the boy had bested the one he would come to call his closest friend a number of times, too. Friday, who had already been content with a life of watching her young master mature, grew ever happier with her master's strength.

Which was why the only one time that Friday actually showed any emotion to a certain extent was when he left to attend the most esteemed Academy that the land had to offer. Unable to attend with her master purely because she was of Faunus blood, she gave to locking herself in her quarters for two days straight after their formal, awkward and stiff farewells to each other. The rest of the Grandshelt family were, at least, kind enough to leave her to sulk. When she finally emerged, she had grown withdrawn and quiet. There was reason enough for her to keep holding on to her sword and defend the name of Grandshelt, but without another blade to whet her skill on, to enjoy the thrill of a proper opponent that her young master offered, she was, for a lack of a better word, depressed. She still served, as Lady Grandshelt's attendant, and as the family's bodyguard wherever possible, and she served well, but it was clear to even the other servants that she, though she never spoke much to begin with, was quite beside herself.

The day he returned was the day she was at the most happiest. He came back, looking more of a man than he ever was before, and just seeing the power radiate off him was enough to incite her to reach for even further. So, now, it was her turn to challenge him. She lost to him, round by round, and never once was she disheartened. In fact, with every loss, she only grew happier, for it was without a doubt that she now had another target to aim for. Seeing as how he had improved by leaps and bounds, and how the glow of fire in his eyes flared, she expressed the same wish to attend this academy that he had gone to, in pursuit of her young master's newfound strength. Both Gregory and her argued a point that what use was a protector if the one she protected was much stronger than she was to Alexander, who declined this notion at first. The constant pestering and (surprisingly to many) whining from Friday that Gregory's use of his Aura was cheating, Alexander finally gave in to their demands.

Holding the banner of Grandshelt was no small thing, and Alexander made sure of that, granting her the clothing and the breastplate she wore. Gregory bestowed upon her the great sword that she now wields, claiming it to be insurance that she would return to be, once again, his dearest foe. With these in hand, she enrolled as a student of the Academy.

Weapons:
Sunrise
An executioner's sword meant for cleaving. It is taller than Friday is. It is a simple weapon with intricate designs, meant to intimidate, and to deliver swift, powerful strikes. Upon its pommel, an inscription can be read: "When this sword I do lift, the sinner eternal life I do wish.". The sheer size of the sword ensures that the sword is almost impossible to swing with just one hand without throwing oneself off balance, and at the same time, it also makes for a formidable shield when driven into the ground.

It is her most treasured possession, a gift from her master, Gregory, before she left. To hold it without permission and or or with disrespect is to put one's life in forfeit.

Semblance:
Dawn
Friday's Aura manifests as like a golden wildfire, whipping around her in fervor. She is able to wield it to wreathe it about her sword, infusing it with the grand explosive power that strives to rival the sun's own. When harnessed, she is able to throw this energy forwards, slicing all in its path with a cutting projectile, or detonate it upon impact, creating a large explosion of flames and energy, sending all that it has struck flying. Dawn breaks not only across the horizon, but also bones, it seems.

Others:
Friday eats primarily meat, and nothing else. She avoids vegetables like the plague.

Appearance
__drawn_by_ganesagi__b237fceefd4222fe433b244dcba939ac.png

A figure draped over with a dark, flowing mantle that accentuates her blonde locks, Friday strikes many as a rather well-off Faunus from the armor she wears and the way she carries herself, which is an oddity in and of itself.

Friday stands at about 171 cm, and is gifted with quite a few assets herself, though it isn't readily apparent from her usual appearance. She bears the telltale signs that she is a Faunus, namely the ears upon her head and the lush tail that is her pride and joy and the result of years of preening. She is, however, most identifiable by the faceplate-like mask that she wears over her eyes. Its appearance resembles that of the stereotypical slits for eyes that foxes are depicted with in many media. She refuses to remove them, no matter the consequence. Her real eyes are quite doleful and almost dreamy, which are exactly the reasons that she hides them- what sort of bodyguard would have such a non-threatening appearance? She is usually dressed in her combat clothing, which also feature the same design that her faceplate has on its gauntlets, and is meant to invoke the imagery of foxes with them. Her definition of casual wear is that of a casual tee and dark jeans, though it is rare to see her traverse any land in such attire.

ETYMOLOGY
Skylar - eternal life and strength, a shelter, protection, guardian

AcD1jqs.png

PERSONALITY

MODEST AND CONSERVATIVE
Having grown up in a conservative environment, Skylar is as well-mannered and soft-spoken as one would expect, only very rarely sharing her opinions so as to seem tactful. Because she is too shy to speak up, afraid to come off aggressive or demanding, she is likely to beat around the bush or find roundabout ways to solve problems in an effort to save face. Confrontation is not her strong suit, and she is likely to look the other way when uncomfortable situations arise until things blow up in her face. Skylar also possesses a tendency to keep to hard-set rules and as such is not a very open-minded individual.

Her conservative nature is also evident in her rather homely appearance. Though she carries herself with a certain air of elegance, she is not a particularly beautiful woman, or an interesting one as far as her hobbies and interests are concerned. Skylar likes to keep things simple and has ordinary, unambitious dreams, and as a result she is constantly outshined by others. Many underestimate her, deeming her to be lacklustre or weaker than she really is. It is a sad reality for the girl, who is actually very keen to make friends despite the lofty air that she seems to carry herself with.

CREATIVE AND ABSENT-MINDED
Her mind is always off in another world, too caught up in a whirlwind of thoughts to pay much attention to what's around her. You may see her staring off into the distance during classes--physically present, but not really there. This is all just a side effect of the complex web that is her imagination, which also shows in her knitted works and various poetry. Skylar can also be pretty resourceful when she puts her mind to it--a useful trait in the battlefield.

BENEVOLENT AND STRONG-WILLED
Empathetic as she is, Skylar's happiness is hinged upon the well-being of others. She feels too much and too deeply, her emotions an uncontrollable storm within her heart. Ever the loyal friend or guardian, she is true to her words and actions. There is no promise that she would not keep, no secret that her lips would betray, for both her strength and her weakness lies in her unwavering devotion to the world. It is her self-sacrificing nature that makes her a mother to those who know her, but no less than a formidable enemy in the battlefield. She is surprisingly timid outside of battle, exuding a certain calm that can coax people out of their shells and make them feel safe.

When it comes to doing the right thing, Skylar can be a hard nut to crack. She sees the world almost in perfect absolutes, and once she's settled on a decision, it can be very difficult to sway her. It is with a tight fist that she holds onto her morals. She is passionate and strongly opinionated, or stubborn one could say, living by such a strict code of conduct almost akin to that of a monk's.

PROTECTIVE AND UNFORGIVING
Underneath that unassuming demeanour lies a fierce dragon, ready to protect and serve. If there is one thing she is absolutely certain of and takes pride in, it is her unwavering loyalty, for she would never turn traitor even as she is beat an inch from losing her mind. She puts the well-being of others ahead of her, almost to the point that it can be unhealthy. This can be seen when she develops an attachment for someone. It can prove difficult to shake her off once she has latched herself. Even as she is taken advantage of, she would remain to convince herself otherwise.

While it is hard to lose her trust, it is not impossible. But there is no going back once the damage is done. Skylar can be very vindictive. She would hunt you down to the ends of the Earth if that is what it takes to exact her revenge. She also has the tendency to become rather possessive and territorial, and is always on other people's case for their well-being. Much like a mother to her children, she fusses over even the simplest of things.

HONEST AND NAIVE
Skylar is something of an idealist, holding onto the old adage that good will always prevail over the bad. A firm believer in the intrinsic goodness in people, she can sometimes be a little too honest and trusting, making her easy to deceive. This is the tragedy in her character: while she can and will go to great lengths to protect others, she can hardly protect herself from those who desire to exploit her. It is a cross she has to bear for spending most of her childhood sheltered away from the real world.

A less severe manifestation of this trait is her seemingly complete inability to understand jokes or read between the lines. Sarcasm goes right over her head as well, for she has the tendency to hold other people to their words, not completely understanding that some things are not really mean to be taken seriously.

DRAMATIC
Skylar can also be rather theatrical in her actions, especially when she is angered, as can be seen from when she cut her hair with a knife upon finding out that her long-time love had betrayed her.

HISTORY
When Skylar was brought into this world, only tragedy seemed to follow. Her mother died from the strains of labour, and a few months afterward her father followed suit, ill with longing was he for his lost wife. She hadn't even been a year old when she became an orphan, and so she was placed under the scrupulous care of her grandfather, a conservative man who, at first, did not even seem to acknowledge her existence apart from when he would pick apart her flaws and criticise her. Her grandfather was very strict, keeping her to a tight schedule, diet, and training almost akin to that of the military. The only other person she had for company, the one person she considered friend, was a servant faunus named Kole. Despite the initial prejudice she had against that of his kind, she eventually grew to love him, if only for the fact that he was the only one to provide her with the warmth that she so craved.

However, they could never be. For one thing, Kole was a faunus. Secondly, it was not as if he returned her feelings. And third, her grandfather would always remind her of her ultimate goal, which was to join the academy and become a huntress, just like her ancestors before her. This was an honour she would have to uphold, a tradition that must not end with her. The stars simply did not align with her true desires.

It is no wonder then that Skylar had an unshakeable notion from early on that her grandfather despised her, believing that the old man blamed her for her mother's death. In a way, she grew up to believe the same, beating herself up even though deep inside she knew she virtually had no control over what had happened. She lived in constant fear of her grandfather, but at the same time she wished for him to accept her. He was the only family she had left after all, and if it was in meeting his expectations that she would gain his favor, so that be the case. Under the man's guidance, she worked herself to exhaustion and burnt the midnight oil with her studies in preparation for the academy. It wasn't until she reached eleven years of age that her grandfather took her out to see the world for the first time.

Glad for the progress in their relationship, as her grandfather finally trusted her enough to let her wander beyond their home, Skylar proudly accompanied the old man as they ventured to lands uncharted. These were places teeming with Grimm, vicious creatures such as her sheltered eyes had never before seen. For five gruelling days, they slept on cold, damp floors, living on very little food, always lacking sleep for fear that Grimm would creep up on them while they were unconscious. It was a traumatising experience for a girl who had, up until now, lived within such safe and comfortable quarters. It wasn't until that moment that she realised just exactly how much she lacked in ability and how unprepared she was, despite all the rigorous training she had endured. It hadn't even been a week when she broke down from fear and pressure and had to be escorted back home. For weeks since, she was bedridden, partially out of fear, but more out of disappointment in herself. The fact that she was unable to live up to her own expectations had placed a tremendous toll upon her already shaky self-esteem. It didn't help that Kole, the man she loved, had up and left for a mysterious reason just as soon as they arrived home.

The fear of the outside world kept her in, but it also motivated her greatly. Day in and day out, she would train until her muscles would grow weary, refusing to cry even as she was hurt, refusing to go easy on herself, refusing to talk to anyone until she deemed herself as someone actually worth talking to. She pushed herself to the limit, hard at work until late at night, and starting yet again early in the morning when the sun had yet to rise. She was determined to prepare herself for another face-to-face with the Grimm, and she would not have it any other way.

Such was her determination that Skylar barely had any room to breathe and think and look at the world around her. It was already too late when she realised that her grandfather's health had declined significantly with old age. Her eyes only opened to the truth when the old man collapsed during one of his morning walks. Once again, the girl found herself plagued with a crippling anxiety. Uncertainty and denial ruled over her actions, and for the longest time she would turn the other way, refusing to acknowledge the truth even as her grandfather was laid on his deathbed.

But as with all living things, death was inevitable. No matter how much she despised it, that was the truth. The only thing she could do now was make the most of what little time she had left with her grandfather. With this in mind, she decided to visit him in his quarters. It was bewildering to see his usually healthy face so gaunt; his sage, bright eyes could now barely hold a gaze. They did not speak--the old man was having enough trouble breathing as it were--but it was perhaps the most personal interaction they had ever had. He looked at her with sorrow and what she deemed to be pride. Words were not exchanged, but he bestowed upon her an heirloom--a ring with the family emblem emblazoned upon it. She vowed to treasure his parting gift.

Not long after her grandfather passed, and once again she was struck with incredibly rotten luck. One night she had awoken to the sound of footsteps. A burglar had intruded upon their home and stolen their money and valuables, one of which was her grandfather's ring. The last thing that Skylar saw of the intruder was its wolf tail. She had no doubt that it was Kole.

Betrayed that the one person she considered friend would ever betray her this way, she vowed to exact her revenge on him when the opportunity would present itself.

WEAPON: "NIGHT FURY"
Her weapon has an extendable handle and blade, with the blade solely powered by fire dust. In its primary form, the weapon takes the shape of a sabre, with the hilt at its shortest possible length. The curved laser blade only manifests when a button at the hilt is hard-pressed. Upon two short presses, the metal hilt elongates while the blade shortens, taking the appearance of a naginata with a glowing red blade. This weapon can cut through almost anything. Wounds of opponents are more or less cauterized due to the blade's searing temperature.

On either end of the stick, there is a small crystal of the wind Dust. When activated, it produces tornadoes that can knock enemies back or stir the air. However, this can only be activated when the laser blade is inactive and the hilt is at its fullest possible length.

SEMBLANCE
Much like the dragon that is her family emblem, water plays an important role in her life. It is her semblance, like those of her ancestors before her. Skylar is most in her element near bodies of water; her concentration and strength are magnified tenfold. It is from water that she draws energy, which she can use to revitalise herself during battle, or it can otherwise be used to heal someone through cell regeneration. But like with any power, it has its limitations. She can only draw so much energy at a time, until she is "fully charged" so to speak. She can only heal other people, and the graver the wound she has to heal, the more energy she has to expend. Someone who is near death may be restored to almost full health if she so wishes, but for a high cost, as she could die in the process--a life for a life.

APPEARANCE
Skylar is not exactly what you would call beautiful. She is pale, almost blindingly so from being sheltered for so long, with short, unruly jet-black hair. Her only striking feature would be her large reddish brown eyes, which looks as though they are aflame with all the rage that she keeps bottled up inside of her. Skylar stands at the average height of 5 feet 4, but what she lacks in height and beauty, she makes up for with her lithe build.

OTHER
GRIMM - To this day, Skylar has a crippling fear for the Grimm. She has learned how to hide her emotions so that she might seem fearless in the battlefield, but when nobody is looking, she collapses into a weeping mess. The trauma from her first encounter had never really left her.

Skylar likes knitting and does so in her free time.
