It wasn't the chance of death from the powerful Grimm or the inevitable flight through the sky that was causing Slates nerves to act up. No, it was the fact that Slate had to find someone to be his partner for the rest of his time at Beacon that really scared him. Falling he could handle, killing Grimm was easy, but making friends was on a whole new level. He looked around at the other potential students around him, the Viola cousins were nearby, as were the kids who were starting trouble from the other night. The cousins will try to find each other and I probably don't want to get mixed in with the kids that would rather fight each other then Grimm. It was then when it noticed a white haired girl near by. Didn't see her last night, maybe she doesn't know anyone. Should I talk to her? Now's not really the best time though. Maybe I should smile and wave… or just fold my arms and nod. Yeah lets go with that one. But instead of the intended movement, Slate made more of a half smile nod with his arms folded, making him look stranger than he already did in his shirtless outfit.

Although before he could see the girls reaction Slate felt the sensation as if he was falling, and looking down to see what was the matter all he saw was the tops of trees. "Son of a…" was his only reaction before he came crashing down into the branches of a large tree. Down he fell taking numerous branches with him, and when he finally hit the ground with a large oof Slate was able to comprehend what had happened. He laid on the ground in the pile of branches for some time until his rest was interrupted by a howl. Then another and another until they seemed to be coming from all around him. "Really?" he exclaimed as he removed his large blade from his back. Guess a partner would have to wait.

Arielle was standing on the metal plate and was lined up with the other students. Headmaster Cordin was right in front of them standing and they were waiting for the instructions. Arielle was jumping up and down inside ready for those instructions. These are the ones that will decide her life at Beacon. "Hello students, as you know I am Headmaster Cordin Gale, and I do apologize for saying that so much but my assistant insisted on it, said something about establishing authority or some such other non-sense, anyway, it is now time for your initiation. Now, team's will be formed as such, the first person you meet, is your partner throughout the school year, after you have your partner you must head to some old ruins beneath the other cliff face you can see across from us, in this ruins will be pedestals, on those pedestals are colored shapes, it is 1 colored shape per pair, whichever colored shape you and your partner take, is which team you'll be put on. If you fail to get any colored shape or a partner, then you have failed the initiation and will be put on a ship back home. Now, what you all are standing on are metallic springboard launch-pads, they will launch you into the forest, so i do hope you have a way of landing, as we wouldn't want to clean up the mess...[BCOLOR=#000000]" Headmaster Cordin finally said after the minutes of silence. "I will be monitoring your progress, so have fun, and don't fail. Oh, and do watch out, as their are all manner of Grimm inside of the forest." Roars came from the forest as if they were timed. It doesn't matter for Arielle though. The more, the merrier.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#000000]Arielle hear a mechanical noise and then a scream from the left of her. She turns her head to the direction the noise came from to see a student flying. Apparently, they weren't prepared. Another 20 seconds pass and another student is flying. Then another one. And another one. It continued until it was her turn. Arielle had her right leg back, whip in her right hand, and her semblance was activated so her eyes were gold. She was ready for this. The springboard finally activated and she was launched. "Woohoo! I always wanted to become a bird!" She yelled with excitement in her voice as she flew through the sky. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#000000]Arielle took her hand that had her whip in it and swung it back. Then, she whipped it forwards so it extended and wrapped around a tree branch. Arielle used her whip as a swing while still holding onto her handle and let go of the handle in order to do a summersault on the ground. After her summersault, she turned around and still saw her whip hanging from the same tree. Arielle ran back and jumped while grabbing a hold of her whip to unravel it from the tree's grasp. "What a way to ruin such a cool landing." Arielle thought aloud right after she got the whip down.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#000000]With a quick snap of Arielle's right wrist, the whip retracted to it's normal 6 foot length and turned into a staff. It was easier to carry that way. "Now to find a partner." Arielle used her semblance to check the surrounding areas to see if anyone was around but there was nothing. She then started to wander around the forest aimlessly since she didn't have a better plan.[/BCOLOR]

Spencer and Windia, silver
Spencer and a white haired girl he had barely noticed were among the last ones to remain after Headmaster Cordin finished his speech regarding the initiatiation and started randomly firing his students into oblivion. The gasps, screams and frantic cries of those who were caught off guard as the metal plates launched them to the Emerald Forest lingered on his mind and he had to stifle a giggle to prevent himself from laughing out loud. He wasn't a single bit worried about the safety of these individuals. If they were good enough to get admitted to Beacon then they should at least be capable of sticking the landing. He had a hard time suppressing his laughter when one of the students tried to flirt with the white-haired girl, only to be caught off-guard and sent flying into the wilderness. He was trying to resist making small talk in order to focus himself for this particular task but after seeing THAT display, it was impossible to take his mind off it now.

Observing the white-haired girl, he was put off-guard when she actually began laughing at the poor boy, though he was certain this was not out of mockery. She seemed like a genuine person. As he gazed at her, he began piecing together what type of person she truly was. He noted that her manner of clothing was quite "bold" so to speak. It was revealing enough to stimulate a lot of the male students, though Spencer wasn't affected by this one bit. He had seen Faunus prefer to wear little articles of clothing as it was their way of staying connected to nature. However, what puzzled him was that this girl had no remarkable features that could indicate that she is indeed a Faunus. For a human to wear such clothing he could come up with 3 conclusions regarding her wardrobe preferences. 1.) She is indeed a Faunus 2.) She is a Flirt and 3.) She is a Human raised by Faunus parents. The Third conclusion seemed the most unlikely as there are still a lot of Faunus who who continue to harbor a grudge against the Humans. Still, there may be some exceptions to this.

No longer able to resist, he finally began to strike a conversation with this eccentric girl.

"Aren't you worried about your "friend"?" He asked quizzically with a smile on his face.

Windia, on the other hand, wasn't so reserve when she witnessed the boy's failed attempt to say "Hi" to her. He gave her quite an eccentric greeting by performing what looked like a cross between smiling, nodding and folding his arms, only to be cut off short when he got catapulted towards the Emerald Forest. Making sure not to further embarrass the boy, she waited until he was out of earshot before letting out the laughter she was trying desperately to suppress. "Man, I wish I'd at least be on the poor chap's team. He's kinda eccentric but still, he's interesting." She thought. Her thoughts were interrupted when the Black haired boy beside her finally decided to talk to her.

"Aren't you worried about your "friend"?" He asked quizzically with a smile on his face.

"Nah, he's going to be fine! If he can't fend for himself then he should find a partner or..." She readied Zephyrus which was strapped on her back before and made the state of the art cartridge revolve. "I'll just save his butt then."

As if on cue, the metal plate she was standing on launched her towards a random section of the forest. This gesture compelled Spencer to smirk at her gesture. She at least knows how to execute a great exit. As the time drew near for his turn to be launched to the Emerald Forest, he readied his Pariah's Scepter, which hummed a low metallic sound as he switched the setting to Kinetic Mode. When the 20 seconds had passed, he was propelled up in the sky, towards the forest.

While he was on midair, he nonchalantly began firing short bursts of Kinetic energy in order to control the trajectory of his flight path, avoiding trees and any hazardous obstacles in the process. He was deep in thought regarding on who his partner was going to be. True that it was all by chance on who an individual would be paired with but he could at least manipulate Fate by choosing who would be the first to see him and who would be the first one he sees. If he had to pick a personal preference on who he wanted to be paired with, it would be either the eccentric white-haired girl, or the equally quirky Arielle.

As he descended rapidly to the ground, he fired a blast of kinetic energy from his tonfa-gun hybrid weapon towards the earth, decreasing his speed exponentially and proopelling him a few feet into the air the air,. He performed a somersault before finally landing unscathed to the ground... albeit he was baffled to have done so right in front someone very familiar to him.

With a smile, he extended a greeting to the whip-lashing girl whom he had only recently met yesterday.

"Small world eh?" Spencer said nonchalantly with a whimsical smile on his face as he regarded Arielle.

Meanwhile, as Windia sailed through the air, she was also putting deep thought on who her desired partner would be. In her opinion, he/she should be someone capable enough and would not hinder her in any way into realizing her objective. Then... there's always that guy. Recalling what had happened at the cliff made her giggle again but her amusement was abruptly ended when she noticed just how close she was from colliding with a giant tree. Aiming for the top most part of the tree's trunk, Windia fired a grappling bolt from her Zephyrus, sending an 8 inch metal spike with a long cable attached to it straight through the tree. Once the Spike had exited the other side of the tree, 4 metal spikes expanded from it, forming a hook that was securely put in place. She then used the cable to whirl around the tree and land safely on the ground below. With a click of the trigger, the smaller spikes retracted towards the main steel spike and the cable, in turn, retracted with the metal spike along with it to the crossbow. The first order of business for her is to find a partner, thus she began exploration of the Emerald Forest.

With Alexis Viola
As Alexis was travelling through the forest in search of someone else she heard some rustling in the bushes nearby and prepared herself, and to her surprise and joy her cousin Alessa came out of the bush, they locked eyes, signifying that they were partners for the rest of their training as huntress' at Beacon

With Tama Anaru
Tama had left the grimms' corpse just seconds ago when he bumped straight into Slate Magnus, their eyes locked onto eachother, signifying their partnership throughout the rest of the years at Beacon.

With Alex Tomish
As Alex meandered throughout the forest he bumped into one scantily clad Windia Milkyway, toppling eachother to the ground, but also signifying their partnership throughout the rest of their years while training and learning at Beacon.

Tama examined the big guy in front of him, bandoliers covered his chest and his sword was pretty big. Tama sniffed the air and thought to himself he smells...Tama then looked at his rigid figure All that weight, can he keep up? Tama then walked over jutting his hand out. "Name's Tama, Tama Anaru."

Alex stood up quickly and readied his shield thinking he bumped into a grim creature. Noticing that it was Windia he put his shields away and went to help her up. "Sorry about that. Uh, you ok?". Running into the scantily clad girl made him a bit nervous. He wasn't very good at talking to them.

Slate ran by Tama and taking the outstretched arm in his hand he pulled. "No time for introductions, Beowolves are on our tale." Immediately a howl could be heard behind them. As Slate readied Crunch he barked out an order "Watch my sides and whatever you do don't stand too close to me, I got wide swings." His mind was racing at this point, he had found a partner but was he any good? He certainly dosen't look to strong. Just as long as he stays out of my zone he will be fine. His thoughts were quickly disrupted by the pounce of a Beowolf who had thought to try and make a quick snack out of the human. Slate swung his Zweihander in a wide arc to intercept the beast just as its outstretched claws were about to reach him. As he felled the Grimm more seemed to come out of the woods behind it. Without looking back to see how his newfound partner was, he gave a loud war cry and charged ahead into the fray.

Arielle's walking was interrupted when something behind her created a rustling noise from within the bushes. Curious, she turned in the direction of the sound to see someone stand up. That person was someone who she was acquainted with. That someone was someone very familiar. That person was Spencer. "Small world eh?" Spencer said at the sight of her."But it's bigger than you know." Arielle replied automatically. Arielle use to say 'small world' a lot during her intense training course when she was finally able to go outside since everything was so close but what she just said was her teacher's rebuttal. Who knew the rebuttal would stick with her?

After letting what happened set in for a few seconds, Arielle's face suddenly brightens up. The super amazing mega awesome criminal master-mind who stole dust from multiple factories is now her partner. If she were to die in the next twenty seconds, she wouldn't mind. Arielle walks over to Spencer to give him a pat on the head. "I'm glad you are my partner." She said with a smile on her face. She then stops patting him and the head and starts walking in the direction she was walking on before. "Onward!" She yelled.

As much as Spencer was elated to have the quirky Arielle as his partner for the rest of his stay at Beacon, he couldn't help but feel uncomfortable when the brunette had just casually patted his head as if he were a pet. Judging from her attitude, he could take a guess that she still perceives him as a " super amazing mega awesome criminal master-mind who stole dust from multiple factories" character. It looks like no matter how much he tries to clarify that he isn't exactly whom she thinks he is, he was certain that there was no way she would accept it. Playing along was the only plausible course of action to take at the moment.

Spencer was about to follow the quirky and energetic young girl that is before he sensed something big approaching. The threat didn't come from the ground, no. Rather, it was coming towards the ground. Its killing intent was so intense that he immediately detected the direction it was coming from. It was heading straight towards Arielle. There was only one type of Grimm that could intercept someone at that speed. And it's the type that always spells trouble.

The Distance between the two was already quite large and he knows for sure that he won't make it to her if he merely ran towwards her. He wasn't also willing to risk exposure of his semblance this early so the only thing he can do is to improvise. Running towards Arielle, he fire several kinetic bursts in order to fling him towards her faster than when he would have only sprinted. Fortunately, that did the trick as he managed to grab Arielle mid-flight and bring the two of them to safety before the razor-sharp feathers of the Grimm had the chance of impaling them.

"That was too close... Are you alright?" He asked the brunette worriedly.

Windia had literally ran into her partner. It was male but unfortunately, it wasn't Lover-boy. Rather it was someone she wasn't acquainted to yet. She hoped that this individual can live up to her expectations though. A capable partner is what she needed at this point of time.

"Yeah, I'm fine. So I guess we're partners, huh? My name's Windia, what's yours?"

Tama fixed his hat and got into an offensive stance mimicking the frog, immediately before he could even fully get into the stance the beowolf char ged him. Tama punched his un-armored hand into the ground pivoting on it swinging his legs into the beowolf's face, afterwards he continued to spin on his fists knocking them aside. He finally made a circle of them lying around him, he sat in the middle resting his face against his iron fist. The beowolves began to shake off the attacks "Man strong little bastards you are." The wolves started jumping at Tama dog piling on top of him, he stuggled getting them off of him. They had taken his hat off and he popped them in the air, his two faunus ears twitched with the breeze. Firing mutiple blasts of black dust the things started wandering around like mindless zombies as if searching for something occasionally they would sniff him and attack. Tama walked over to his hat and fluffed it out "Die." Just as the wolves gained their sight back Tama smashed a boulder on their heads. He placed his hat over his head pushing it down to cover his brow line, he was covered in scratches and his suit was ruined. "I hope Mr. Gale plans on fixing this."

As Slate removed the head of one of the Grimm the shouted a replied to Tama "Hey you didn't have to come out here, if your that worried about your clothes you should just quit now." Another Beowolf charged the shirtless speaker, and he rolled out of its path. With another heavy swing and a grunt he cut the attacker clean in half. "Who else wants some?" he yelled, his bloodlust taking over. To his dismay there was no reply by anyone as it seemed all the Grimm were either dead or driven off. Slate sighed and placed his blade on his back. He shouted towards Tama "The names Slate, and if you don't mind we should probably get a move on. Couldn't hurt being there first right?"

Arielle walked a few steps towards their destination before she realized Spencer wasn't following her. Arielle started to look back at Spencer before she came to a halt. She heard something falling quickly from sky. Arielle stood there with her eyes closed trying to identify the sound. A bird? No. A Bullhead? No. A person falling? No. The guessing game didn't go on for long because she was soon tackled to the ground causing her to drop her weapon. "That was too close... Are you alright?" Spencer asked. Arielle lifted her head up to look over Spencer's shoulder to reveal the answer from the game earlier. A giant feather. Well, she was sort of close with bird but if there were a few more seconds she would've guessed it. Maybe.

Arielle put her head down so she was looking directly at worried Spencer. "I'm great. What a good partner you are." Arielle responded to his question from earlier. She went to move her arm so she could pat him on the head but she couldn't. It took a second for her to realize why she couldn't. Spencer was still holding her. The little fact wandering around in Arielle's mind caused her to blush a little before she removed his hands from around her and stood up. Then she patted him on the head again. It's starting to become something fun for her to do.

Arielle ran through the feathers that fell from the sky earlier in order to get her staff that she dropped earlier. As soon as she obtained the staff, she put her right hand on the end that is the handle and snapped her wrist causing it to become a whip again. She then cracked the whip to get a good feel of it again. "You!" Arielle yelled at the Grimm while she pointed at it with her left hand. "Can you catch me?" Arielle started to run away while giggling. "Let's go if you don't want to be it." Arielle shouted to Spencer as she was running in the direction she was going in before cueing him to follow her.

"Alex, Alex Tomish." He said nervously. So this was his partner he thought. He took note of her crossbow. A formidable weapon in the right hands. He was about to ask her about it when several sticks fell on top of him followed by a menacing growl. He quickly looked up and raised his right shield. A sharp click click indicated a round entering the chambers of the duel SMGs in the shield and fired a burst into the overhang and a snarling Beowulf fell from above. He raised his left shield, caught it and used his shield to pin it to a tree on his left. He raised his right shield and smashed the edge into the creatures neck, Effectively beheading it.

Alessa made her way down from the tree with elegance, using her agility and neotina to reach the forest floor. Dusting off her stocking from kneeling down on the tree branch, the girl set off on her mission to find her cousin.

Alexis, for her part, was looking for anybody to partner up with. Hearing a rustling in the underbrush, the violet haired heiress ran towards the source of the sound. "Hey!" She called out to who she expected to be another student wandering through the forest, only to happen upon a Beowolf that took a swing at her with it's massive claws. In an instant Alexis' eyes began to glow with the power of her semblance, a smile on her face the entire time as the paw and forearm of the beast phasing straight through her head. In order to both counter attack and conserve her energy, she deactivated her power when it wasn't needed, whirling around with twin daggers drawn while the beast was still off balance. Blades of hardened energy expanded the natural reach of her weapons which cut into the back of the wolf and cleanly severed it's spine. A lone wolf wasn't much of a threat to a girl that was immune to physical attacks.

Before she could put her weapons away, she heard more footsteps approaching her from behind. With a blur of movement her daggers changed form into two silver colored pistols, both raised and pointed towards her ambusher.

"It's me, calm down." Alessa warned her, not bothering to raise her hands up and in fact gesturing for Alexis to lower her weapons. She was glaring, seemingly not happy despite finding her cousin like she wanted.

"You couldn't say anything before showing up?" Alexis' smile was gone, holstering her guns and crossing her arms under her chest.

"That's not how you sneak around. I heard you shout. That's how I knew you were here."

"Well I'm glad somebody did! We need a partner to pass initiation!" She quickly pointed out.

"That's not all. We need to go collect those shapes, remember? Come on."

Alexis responded with an annoyed huff. She knew her cousin was right, even if it meant she wasn't going to have as much fun with the whole process. Passing was the first step for both of them. "Did you find anything like what we're supposed to be looking for while you were tracking me down?"

"Please. I hardly had to track you anywhere. And no, I didn't. It's got to be in here somewhere, though."

"So... have you killed any?" The heiress asked of her relative, placing her hands on her hips and raising a curious eyebrow towards her while the two walked together.

"Grimm? No, not yet. The forest was relatively quiet where I fell." Alessa answered plainly, giving the moment a little more thought. "Did it seem like I would have had time? I got launched after you did, remember?"

"I was only trying to make conversation." Alexis huffed again. Her cousin could be so serious sometimes.

Spencer didn't mind getting patted on the head by Arielle but she does it so frequently that he doesn't know if she still sees him as the super amazing mega awesome criminal master-mind who stole dust from multiple factories or if he had been demoted to her pet dog. Although he kinda liked getting patted on the head by Arielle, the thought of being her pet didn't sit too well with him. though he did catch her blushing a little for some unexplained reason. Perhaps the close proximity they were engaged in moments ago triggered this flustered state of hers. He had to admit, seeing her so close made him realize just how beautiful the quirky Huntress is but he was too focused on their current objective to be affected by that.

Hearing Arielle beckoning him to follow her and the murderous cries of the Nevermore above in the sky was enough motivation for Spencer to follow suit. He was physically fit due to the rigorous training he had done under his uncle's tutelage so catching up to the crazy Huntress wasn't such a difficult feat. Though he had to admit that she is pretty quick on her feet too. In order to lessen the chance of getting skewered by the Nevermore's feathers raining down on them, Spencer started running in a serpentine movement. Even with the appearance of this threat, their main objective hasn't changed at all. Now that they were partners, they needed to complete their mission of retrieving the relics from the ruins then regroup with the others to neutralize this threat.

"Arielle, we need to head for those ruins and acquire those relics. Then, if possible, rendezvous with other students to take down that Nevermore. I am confident that we need at least 2 more people to get the job done. Although I am not underestimating both of our capabilities to exterminate this Grimm, it would be wiser to play it safe and rely on others as well." Spencer told Arielle as he ran beside her.

They were dashing for some time until they reached their destination; What seemed to be the ruins of what was once a temple of sorts.

(will make WIndia Post later. I gotta go)

At the Ruins
As Spencer and Arielle arrived at the ruins they quickly took note of their surroundings, massive stone pillars coming out of a seemingly bottomless and foggy ravine. A few feet in front and away from the ravine was a circle of pillars all situated atop a stone circle in the middle that had strangle circular markings. 12 small pedestals stood on the circle in a half circle formation, atop the first 4 were red, blue, white, and black squares, the next 4 were red, green, white, and black spheres that were being held inside of small indention's on the pedestals to keep them from moving, the next 4 were red, blue, white, and black stars, and the last 4 were weird and unique shapes, the first was what looked like a pink rectangle that got twisted by someones hands, the second was a purple sphere that had small spherical indention's of random sizes layered across it like a moon that got hit by an onslaught of asteroids, the third object was a grey octagon that had blue glowing symbols and hieroglyphs littered across it, and the final object was an orange square with what looked like rods of all sorts of colors stabbed into it.

I take off my shirt and walk past Slate sniffing at the air. "It stinks over there, like dead stuff maybe that's where its general direction is." I face forward and walk where I pointed. "Coming?"

Slate nodded when his teammate asked if he was coming. Of course I am, its not like I became a Hunter to do nothing. Without hesitation the two shirtless hunters ook off. The trip was an uneventful with nothing more than the occasional sound of another far off Hunter or Huntress doing battle with the Grimm. When they arrived at the temple Slate saw that they weren't the first ones there. At the top there were two figures standing around. "Second ain't bad right?" Slate asked Tama. He didn't wait for an answer though for he was soon rushing up the side of the Temple. "Scuse me." He shouted when he bumped into the Huntress with the whip. He quickly looked at all the shapes then made a grab for the first one to pique his interest. An orange square with numerous rods poking out of it He held it up to Tama showing his partner their prize. "Not the first ones here, but first to complete the mission is probably better."

GM
When Slate picked up the orange square it suddenly glowed a bright orange and that glow soon slowly dissipated as orange wisps of energy surround the cube and rainbow colored energy surrounded the rods impaled into it. The orange and rainbow wisps suddenly lashed out and, from what it appeared to be, stabbed into Slate and Tama, before dissipating entirely, while a strange feeling started to well up inside of Slate and Tama before dissipating as well.

Arielle arrived at the temple along with Spencer. Ahead of them were the relics that they were suppose to grab. Arielle looked at the relics on top of the pillars. There were plain boring ones and awesome looking ones. Arielle walked up and grabbed the purple cratered sphere without any hesitation. "Look at this!" She yelled across the distance separating them. "It looks like a sponge, or a piece of cheese, or THE MOON!" Arielle skipped happily back over to Spencer with the object she has acquired.
