Running scared

Keira watched his hand for a moment before taking it, being led to the bathroom. She stopped in the doorway and watched him, tilted her head slightly.

Once the woman took hold of Galen's hand, he led her to the bathroom. Inside was a toilet, a small sink, and a bathtub with a shower head. He lifted the toilet seat up. "Toilet," he said. "When you need to go to the bathroom," he said as he pointed to her yellow stains. "You go in here, okay?" He told her as he pointed to the toilet seat. "You sit down, go to the bathroom, wipe, and then press this to flush." He figured that he'd probably have to help her a few times before she got the hang of it, just like how he would potty train a child. He looked her over and wondered if he should also tell her about the shower. He might have to help her wash if that was the case. And then he could wash her nightgown while he loaned her some of his clothes.

Keira listened to him as he spoke, thoughtful and a bit confused. She glanced at the stains when he pointed at them, and then she looked at the toilet again. She looked around slightly at the rest of what was in the bathroom and then she looked at him again. She took a step closer to the toilet and glanced down at the water at the bottom of it. She glanced at Galen before reaching a hand down there, picking some water up using her palm, drinking it.

Galen couldn't stop the woman from drinking out of the toilet, but once she did, he reached out a gentle hand on her wrist. "Don't drink out of there...it's not clean," he said, wiping her hands with a small hand towel. "Are you thirsty? I can get you a drink in a cup and we can try this another time," he offered as he started to walk out of the room. He looked back at her and extended his hand again if she wanted to take it.

Keira looked at him as he wiped her hands. Thirsty. She stood up took his hand, walking out of the room with him.

Galen walked with her to the small kitchen area. He got a cup down from one of the cupboards and then filled it with water from the sink. He showed her how to hold it before he handed it to her, hoping that she'd take it and drink from it.

Keira looked at him at first, and then she reached her hand out and took the cup from him. She looked at the water and drank some of it. She drank all of it, and when the cup was empty, she handed the cup over to him, as he has handed it to her.

Galen waited for her to drink the water. Man, she was definitely thirsty. He smiled and took the cup when she was finished. "Thank you," he said. "Are you still thirsty?" If she was, he would only give her a little bit more. He didn't want her to get a stomach ache or anything, after all.

Keira looked at him in silence for a few seconds before she shook her head slightly.

Galen nodded, setting the cup down next to the sink. "If you get thirst again, just pick up the cup and show me, okay? And if you're hungry, rub your tummy," he said as he rubbed his stomach for a few seconds. After he finished, he didn't know what they should do. Maybe he could start to teach her how to talk? Or maybe she would want to take a walk outside? He wasn't sure...

"You want to take a walk with me?" he asked. "Outside?" he pointed to the door. He just hoped that she wouldn't run off...

Keira's gaze immediately looked more attentive as he pointed to the door. She took a few steps towards the door, eagerly. She looked at him and then at the door, suddenly a bit hesitating, not sure if she had understood him. She pointed to the door slightly, a bit confused.

Galen smiled and walked closer to the door, unlocking the door and turning the knob. He looked to Kiera and the opened it, showing the woman that she was free to go outside if she'd like. He walked outside and stood in front of the door, extending his hand for her to take if she wanted to again.

Keira looked at him for a few seconds before she reached her hand out, stepping closer, and once outside, she took a hold of his hand. She looked around and then she looked at him again, and she relaxed some since her hand didn't hold on to his has intense as before.

Galen smiled when she took hold of his hand once she was outside. He closed the door behind her before looking at her with kind eyes and started to walk away from the cabin. There was a narrow trail that they walked on. It diverged into two paths if you walked on it far enough, one leading deeper into the woods and the other circling back to the cabin. It was a warm temperature outside, but there was a small and cool breeze that would occasionally flow past the two.

Keira walked beside him, enjoying being outside. She looked around as they walked. Soon the path diverged into two different paths, and Keira stopped and looked at him and then at the two paths. She tilted her head slightly and then started walking on one of them, letting go of his hand.

They arrived at the divergent of the path. He looked to her as she looked at him and let her choose. She let go of his hand and walked on the one that led deeper into the woods. Galen walked behind her, letting her lead the way for a little bit so she could have her own space. They would just reverse their steps and follow the track back when they wanted to return to the cabin.

He stuck his hands in his front pocket as he observed the woman in front of him. She had spirit, the true instinct to survive. But she was willing to learn what she didn't know. She was beautiful. Galen wondered how his boss would react when he told him that it was just a woman living out in the woods. Surely, the story would get out and her face and their names would be all over the papers and news.

Keira walked at the path, looking around now and then just to see what was around her - trees, nature. The life that she knew. Being outside made her relax since she finally felt like she knew where she was - this was her territory. She glanced back at him now and then, just to make sure that he was still there.

She listened to the birds as they sang, getting more attentive all of sudden as she heard something. She stopped and looked around, and then she noticed a fox in the bushes. She relaxed some as she realized that it wasn't anything dangerous, ad then she glanced towards him. She followed the fox with her gaze as it walked through the bushes, still visible though. She walked as quiet as she could towards it, scared to scare it away.

Galen was amazed as he watched this girl. She was completely free in the woods - comfortable, at ease, knowing. This was her home. Birds cawed and sang songs, the breeze that occasionally came by whistled beautifully through the trees. It was peaceful here.

A different noise was heard both by Kiera and Galen. He looked to see a fox in the bushes and looked to Kiera. He stayed where he was, not wanting to scare the fox off either - his footing wasn't as quiet and graceful as Kiera's. He'd start to follow her if she got too far away though.

Keira looked at the fox, focused. She kept a safe distance as she watched it, carefully looking around some, making sure not to let the fox out of her sight for too long, though. Soon she found a stone, about the size of a grown up male's, and then she approached the fox, more determined than before.

As the fox turned around and looked at her, Keira stopped, not even breathing. She exhaled slightly as the fox turned its head back in the direction it was walking, obviously not disturbed by her presence. As soon as the fox began to walk, she quickly reached down and grabbed it by it's tail. It growled and tried to bite her, but she was fast to hit it in it's head with the stone repeatedly, as hard as she could. She hit until the fox didn't move at all, and then she put the stone aside, watching it.

Galen had thought that Kiera was just following the fox out of being interested in it for the looks, but he was wrong. He didn't know what she was going to do with the large rock she found until she did it - hitting the head of the fox over and over again with the rock. Galen covered his mouth with his hand, wincing at the pained noises the fox had made until it died. If Kiera had killed it, Galen hoped that she was planning to eat it, otherwise he would be very...displeased.

He stayed where he was, waiting to see what Kiera was going to do until he made any moves.
