It was easy.
Nobody knew exactly what repercussions it would have, but it was easy. They all fell for it. All of them. It was a surprise, really. Everything went according to plan. Except for one.
His binding had gone perfectly. He hadn't been the most willing, at first, but his was possibly the most successful of them all. However, it was too good to be true. When he found out we did the same thing to his wife, he went berserk. He tore apart the temple and ran off into the world, setting all the subjects free in the process. It hadn't helped that his host had been the best fighter we had. Later research discovered something amazing. He had talked to his host. Struck a deal. His wife's host was his host's sister, so they were able to come to terms rather quickly.
It wasn't long before we discovered other cases. Ethereal beings making contracts with those still on the mortal coil. There were 17 recorded cases, though they varied wildly in purpose and application. Only 6 were given improved physical or magical abilities, including the escapee. Their profiles have been compiled below for later review and threat assessment.
