Rise from Destruction

Sharp eyes peered through her hair at the peculiar dishing out all the information yet it was almost seeming like a baiting trap at the same time. "I don't know anything about peculiars." Kyrie was starting to get defensive not that she was meaning too. She said she knew nothing about peculiars and she spent more time avoiding them. It was her father that knew that stuff... and then he was slaughtered.

It wasn't like she had time to learn either, Kade seemed to take her away and then one thing led to another.

A hard lump formed in her throat, hands shuffling up into her hair as Kyrie buried her face into her knees. "If you want to prove how stupid I am, I already know." She knew Nat was trying to help but in this moment Kyrie was starting to feel like the walls were closing in around her, that there was no escape and suddenly she was expected to know more than she understood. It was hard, difficult and she was trying. She was! She didn't like getting upset because she knew so little, it was all so overwhelming.

Well, that hadn't gone well. Time to backtrack and find a different strategy.

"Kyrie, I don't find you stupid." was all Nat said in a quiet, sincere manner before she stopped in her explanations and questions. Apparently she'd overstepped the stimulation tactic and while she knew exactly what Kyrie needed at this precise moment, she knew she couldn't provide it and so her eyes flickered back to where the male Lacertilia resided on the roof of the across building, waiting, watching and the Canis lupus gave a slight barking kind of sound, a calling sound.

She watched Kade's head tilt, uncertain, but he moved, leaping the roof to the ground and he approached the two slowly, eyes for no one but Kyrie. He'd been listening to everything, watching her body language and his arms literally ached to hold her, to soothe her and that was all that was in his mind as he approached. There was little human thought, that part of his mind seemingly just as tired as Kyrie's, but unlike hers, his could grow silent. He simply came to where Kyrie was without a word and he picked her up as he'd done many times before, settling himself on the ground with his legs crossed and her small, curled body in his lap, arms coming to wrap around her as a great shield might, his tail doing the same as it draped over her legs.

He didn't say one word as he set his chin gently on her head and crooning kind of growl left his throat, vibrating in his chest as he uttered one human-like sound. "Shhh..." She was safe now. She was safe and she didn't have to say anything, she didn't have to acknowledge anything. She just needed to know she was safe and no matter what, he'd be there for her, no matter what they became to each other....

He was her friend first and he always would be.

It was like she was a claustrophobic with all this information being given to her, something to learn from and yet it felt like a double edged sword. Where the information was helpful, it was slicing through her to remind her how little she actually knew and how much she depended on her father that wasn't there.

A threatening break in her psyche was nearing, she felt it. She needed to just be left alone. Left to take in what she needed at her own pace, not have it offered. Nat was helpful there was no doubt, but the human girl was unstable in her own understanding.

The bark hardly grabbed her attention, a common reaction for the human girl pulling deeper into herself trying to shrink in size and importance. It was the movement of her own body being ushered like a ragdoll to be placed in a familiar presence that had her popping her attention up. Where had Kade come from?

Did she care?

Peeking up through the cut of her bangs, the petite being swiveled around as she faced him directly entirely grateful for his actions moreso than another. Safe... this was safe. She knew that, reveled in that time and time again as she dropped her head to rest against his chest just listening to the rumbling and beating, surprised she had anything left to shred in the form of tears; Kyrie made a soft whimpering sound as she literally clung to the peculiar.

He might had unintentionally mated to her and had no choice in that, but Kyrie... she knew... she knew deeply that she had developed the emotions naturally for the peculiar. Though she was still afraid to make that known, unsure what that meant to the situation.

She was such a basket case.

Kade simply held her, so immensely, vastly relieved that she was letting him, that she wasn't pushing him away or resisting. So he held the small human and he ran his clawed hand through her hair, comforting silently, letting the steady, calm beat of his heart, the crooning kind of growl in his chest speak volumes for him. He didn't know what to say. So much had happened and yet it felt almost like nothing at all. How was he to explain to her that....that one side of him desired her, wanted to protect her, stay near her, was so loyal he'd be miserable for her...but the other side of himself held affection for her, wanted her to be safe, but....he didn't love her.

He didn't think it was an impossibility, though. No...he could see himself easily loving Kyrie, falling for her hook, line and sinker.

But right now...this was just as new to him as it was to her and he didn't know what to say.

So he said nothing, he just held her and let her cling to him, let her cry, let her calm even sleep if she needed to. As long as she stayed in his arms, close to him and SAFE, he didn't care what she did. And as he looked up at Nat, he knew that he was doing the right thing judging by her patient smile as she lounged casually on her seat, ready to answer questions should they be asked and to start explaining again if Kyrie was up to it.

Right now she was just as content to be quiet as the others were.
