36 maybe, I'dunno: How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? And if you never attempted to lick a Tootsie pop, would you ever? ಠ_ಠ

There actually have been "studies" done. It depends on the area and every area has a different average ^.^ I googled it once.
