Feather ~ Tirian

By the time he looked down and caught sight of her, Feather's glance had dropped to linger somewhere off to the side of his chin. Eyeing him directly engaged the two in conversation; something she wasn't particularly fond of doing, especially after catching sight of the mark upon his cheek. Sure, it was hypocritical. Feather herself had been dressed beautifully by the fashion shop, to the point where she hardly looked human anymore. With skin an unnatural pale, and eyes that looked like they belonged to a mechanical clockwork doll; ears of an elf, and gear that could be called cyberpunk, it was pretty obvious that the 11 year old girl came from wealth. Yet she detested the fact... was put-off by people who appeared to be rich, like her cold, robotic parents. Like her, even... people like her were the pawns of political machines, funding greed and boasting their steam. Those people weren't nice. Yet for some reason the man she bumped into was showing kindness... why? She was clearly at fault. She was younger, and thus shorter to a degree he hadn't even noticed her while looking straight ahead. Had she payed attention the accident would have been avoided completely. What was the sense in him apologizing for it? But it was better not to comment on it. Short talk was better for a brash, cold girl like her. It made for less annoyance, irritation, offense. Hurt, even. And Feather was perfectly content leaving their conversation at that and walking away.

Yet the snowy haired boy pulled her back into conversation with the most obvious statement one could ever make. "Tirian. I can see that already." Without even glancing up, Feather's arm lifted to point out the digital lettering above his head; clearly she was able to see, so his need to make an introduction was really out of place. Then again... how else would one start a conversation with a stranger? Perhaps she found it so weird because even in real life Feather hardly ever spoke to other people, and when she was forced to attend events to make her parents look good, the girl kept her lips tight, not bothering to share the name most of those fools knew already. Realizing this after making the blunt statement flustered her greatly, yet all she could do was meet his face with what vaguely looked to be an apologetic grimace. "Feather is my name." She really didn't need to say it, especially after pointing out the pointlessness of his own proclamation. But those were the only words she could think of to remedy her own unkindness without -actually- apologizing. Even they weren't enough to soften things, it seemed; for he was already glancing away, his occupations elsewhere, far away from the blunt little elf girl. She could see his desire to leave more clearly than her desire to converse with him, and that made things pretty easy, even when he extended the offer of checking things out together. Halfhearted was he to ask her such a thing, as if there were any real desire for her company. Maybe he even pitied her for running through the game alone and a handicap that most assumed would kill her quickly.

But as it were, Feather had things of her own to do, and none of those plans included checking out a monster those idiots of the "Front Line" raced toward so eagerly, following a coy wolf like little slaughter-bound lambs. It was easy for her to decline his offer and send the man, Tirian, on his way... sort of easy, anyway. "No thanks. I need to buy some herbs and go back to training." Leaving it at that the elfin girl turned away, her black combat boots poised to spring far away from the man and his further intentions. But something - perhaps the guilt of her cold attitude, perhaps the mild yearning to converse with a kind stranger - pulled her gaze back to his face briefly. "Thanks, though. Maybe we'll meet again. Before we die... or something." Subtle frustration lined her face when those last few awkward words came out, but there was no helping it now. The more she talked the worse it would get. So rather than bothering anymore she stepped away and wandered toward the far line of NPC shops, head reeling from her own stupidity and all the while trying to recall the three items she'd seen in the guide before making such a horrible display. "What was it? A small damage potion, or something... Basil, ginger, and..." Too quickly she found herself standing before a vendor, muttering pathetically under her breath.

The NPC was a stubby man, with a large belly and farmers clothing. And despite how lifeless he actually was the shopkeeper seemed chipper, grinning around a piece of straw protruding from his plump lips. "Good day, young lady! Interested in purchasin' some crops from this old geezer? This here ashwagandha is great stuff, really hits the spot when your tummy's a little rumbly!" Apparently he found his own words to be humorous, as he dissolved into chortles and squeaks of laughter. For an NPC he reminded her of a pig - big, jiggly and obnoxious. Then again she was probably just offended because even the stupid NPC's treated her like the child she was pretending not to be. Oh well... at least he jumpstarted her memory of the final herb from her short list. Fishing 30 GP from her digital pouch, Feather offered her money over with a blank stare and brief order. "Basil, ashwagandha, and ginger." The NPC seemed unfazed by her lifeless demenor, and insisted on babbling some more about potion making and unrelated things as he rounded up her order. Feather, on the other hand, feigned distraction with the cyber-ish webbing that wove through her gloves, until the materials were handed over. She left without a goodbye, seeking out an empty potion-making stall near the less inhabited area of the marketplace to attempt her first shot at crafting a small damage healing mixture.

Klugh ~ Durendal/Reito/Kaozuki

Klugh lagged behind the rest of the group simply following them to see what their so fearless leader had found, when he came upon the hill they were all gathered around but most people seemed to be staring in fear upon the creature that now stood higher than the sun itself. Rocks and earth fell from the giants body and hit the ground its massive size intimidating to the entire group of pc's that had gathered around the creature and yet no one dared make the first movement fear gathered upon their faces. Klugh watched from the back lines his knuckles clenched tightly around the hilt of the claymore that rested upon the size of his back and waited he may be the tallest player here but definitely nobody would care if he made his way forward, he watched for now waiting to see when these people would begin the assault.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prying fingers of solar rays force open reluctant lids as the peak of a new day arose with the bustling sounds of a busy market place, and the excitement of who knows what in the Courtyard not far off. Azmeryth was curled up on the ground just in the entrance of a forgotten alleyway, her face nestled into her wolf companions fur. Her attempt at bargaining for a cheap room to retire in during the night had failed. The inn keeper was very clear that she would accept no less than 50GP for a night's stay in the cheapest room that was available. Azzy was broke with just a measly 25GP, and so, her and Temper had camped out like the homeless duo they truly were. Like street rats, lowly commoners who didnt spend their time trying to better their skills with combat, but more so raising their life skills rank. Azzy wasnt interested in trying to get out of the game. She rather wait until a suitable party arrived that would accept her, or she'd wait for a brave player to beat the 100th boss.The task itself was daunting, and terrifying, and she was sure that she'd never be able to handle it. Never.
With a sigh slipping her lips, she pulled the white, cape like hood she donned further over her eyes, and nestled her face more so into Temper's fur which successfully gained a huff from the canine. He would lift his head, and gaze back at her, his yellow eyes curious, but understanding. The girl was tired, and so was he. His maw fell open, and his tongue stretched from it's confines as an exhale left his lips. A yawn The animal layed his head back on the hard cement ground, but was soon disturbed by the restless Azmeryth who decided that now was the time to wake up. She stretched out all of her limbs, each one popping in protest which, in turn, caused a satisfied sigh to breach otherwise sealed lips. The girl sat up, and yawned before she rose to her feet, and brushed off the skirt of the tattered looking, blue dress she wore. A pale hand rose to brush fiery hair from her eyes, and looked down at Temper who had already risen to all fours, and was gazing up a her, his tongue hanging from the corner of his maw in a rather odd angle. He panted, and twitched his ears, his tail wagging as he yipped at her. A giggle slipped from her, and she hurried to shush it by covering her mouth with her hands, and nodding.
"Im guessing its time to go, huh boy?"
Her lips curved into a smile, the half crescent shape an odd little expression on her usually blank features. Her right hand reached out to rest on the dog's head, and ruffle his fur before she moved out of the dim lighting of the alley, and out into the bustling traffic of the marketplace. The small, slim form bobbed, and weaved through the sea of bodies, NPC, and player alike. She whispered quiet excuse mes, and other form of polite pardons before she finally made it to a less populated area, Temper hot on her trail. A tired sigh came from her then. Such a hassle to even get across the market. So many players still populated the first floor of Quest, and she vaguely wondered if anyone had made it past the first floor boss. Probably not...not with the rumor she'd heard of a single field boss being sighted. It was more likely that no one had even bothered to attempt the boss dungeon yet. No...they all wanted to make sure they were prepared for such a battle. Azzy huffed at the though. Such idiots. No one was going to make it out of this game alive. They would all die here, so why not try to live as long as one possibly could. Why must they all charge to battle? Were they even thinking of their lives? And how could so many people trust so easily. Pale blue eyes gazed around the marketplace, and toward the courtyard where she saw many groups of players following others around like lost puppies. People had already started partying up, and others were planning guilds of sorts. Those same pale, blue eyes narrowed at the thought. She'd never be so dumb. Never be so stupid as to trust so easily. One would have to work for her trust. With a sharp nod, seemingly to herself, she huffed again, and turned toward Temper.
"You're the only thing I can trust here, boy. Unfortunately...you're just part of the game..."
Azzy's hand reached out to pet Temper, and his eyes closed, ears folding back ever so slightly as he enjoyed the small, loving gesture. Azmeryth had already come to love the beast she'd successfully tamed on her first try. Today? She would attempt to tame once more. She'd creep from the gates of Grand Masai, and venture to the rolling hills, or even to the forest once again. Perhaps she;d try to tame a bear today. As far as she noticed, they seemed to travel alone. The soloers of the beast world....at least on the first floor. Firstly though...she'd have to try her hand at bargaining once again. She desperately needed potions, and the potions vendor was not far. In fact, she was directly to the girl's north. Azmeryth had the stall in her sights, and began toward the vendor with a new found air of determination. Approaching the potion vendor, she eyed her wares; healing potions: minor, light, heavy. Antidotes, and everything else that one could think to buy....and they were all out of her price range. All but a 15GP minor healing potion. That'd be enough to heal the already scabbed over cut on her back, but what was the sense when they were already healing on their own? Lowering her head, she groaned just as the vendor came over to her with a cheeky smile.
"Anything I can help you with, dear?"
For an NPC, the lady was rather nice, and it was comforting to run into people like this in this world...even if they were just part of the programming. Azmeryth shook her head no, and turned from the vendor hearing a faint come again as she began to walk away from the stall, her face solemn. What a bust. She needed GP, but that would require her to do quests, or kill more monsters. The latter was more preferable in this case. Some quests had surprises, and some were very dangerous, even if this was just the first floor. Azmeryth took her hand, and pulled the white fur closer about her face as she left the stall, and headed to the nearby fountain that marked the middle of the city. Taking a seat upon the edge, the girl pulled her knees up to her chest. Temper took this opportunity to hop up on the edge with her, and curl into a ball by her side, his head resting on his paws with a huff.
"We'll get money, boy. We'll go kill some monsters, and...we'll eat good tonight, okay?"
She didnt sound all too sure about her words though. They both knew that what she'd said was less likely than she was making it out to be.
GM~ Ambush on Shadow~
All Shadow Managed to do was find himself in a tree, and confuse the Goblins a little bit. The looked about glancing to each other and the wolf managed to sniff up the tree to see where it was that you had gone. Two arrows had lodged themselves perfectly in Shadows back. Now the Goblin Melee fighters moved to circle the tree, While the Archers prepared, positioning themselves one per Corner and readying their bows Again. The Goblins were positions out of range for the chain blade The warriors as well though they stood at range enough, that if the man came down they would dog pile him. The remaining three wolves circled the tree close. If nothing else they would wait, and on the bright side for him, he now realized their were 4 Goblin Archers, their were 6 melee Goblins, and three remaining wolves total for the Ambush.
Golem vs All~
The Golem was almost perfectly blind, a single eye seemed to be glowing a bright green as it towered above the raid Parties all around. A deafening roar was let loose that shook and even stirred the hair on the party as it started its approach, People had already begun following the Commander Heizen even if the Leader wasn't exactly leading by example at this point. It was foolish , almost pathetic when the players struck at the creatures feet and aimed to chap at the crevices. With every strike, a recoil happened as if they were striking a wall, and the Golem hardly had its health bar decrease at all to their great Anguish. After allowing this for a few moments the monolithic creature lifted its foot and stomped down causing a cataclysmic shock wave that knocked them all back a good 50 feet, weapons dropping everywhere as it leaned over and just like that as if the players were so feeble it swept its great hand through a row of 20 of them and like they were being hit by a train they all shattered, life dropping to zero within seconds. If they were not afraid before, they were now; having watched 20 people wiped away within seconds right before their eyes, and the creatures health had not even touched the half way mark on its first HP Bar... hope was fading fast and even more so as the Golem roared again and turned to walk after a group of ten or so that were retreating.
Gm as Heizen to Golem Raid~
"Go men attack the cracks in its armor, we have to do our best to do the best damage we can, and we will defeat it!"
People roared with delight at his words as they charged in like fools, and they almost felt invincible in that moment. They hacked at the foot of the creature with all of their might, shouting battle-cries as if they were actually doing damage to the creature. However; as the creature stomped and then swiped away 20 people in a second the hope and love they had in their fearless leader soon vanished with the wind as they stared back in fear. More were crushed but Heizen stood looking stupid, fear crossing his eyes as he considered running himself. He wouldn't though, not when he had to draw this out and have an actual reason to be here. " Go do not lose hope, we must tear it down at the legs, the bigger they are the harder they fall!" He roared and in a sudden burst of inspiration, or desperation he dashed into battle against the thing and jumped from the hill just as the Golem was crouching down to strike more players dead he plunged and attack with his two hander into the beasts head attempting to land a critical damage fatal blow. No such luck. His weapon hardly grazed it, a full power against piercing damage as the sword rebounded and he found himself tumbling down its back. Hope in defeating a creature like this was near lost, after all how could they, when Heizen himself couldn't scratch the creature.
Location~ Hillside~ Golem Boss
Klugh~ Raid Party
The monstrous creature stood there for moments gazing at them what ran through its mind the lumbering barbarian had no clue but when the group of people charged and attacked……but that had as much use as trying to cut through a solid steel wall with a small dagger, but that wasn't all the creature was not a forgiving host and the problem with what the groups did was a punishment was dished forth, a swipe of the creatures hand and just as if a warning cast down from the skies of heaven God punished those that attacked by snatching away their lives. He could only stare on and watch the twenty or more people fade as their life gauge quickly diminished becoming nothing to the eyes of the other players, but just like a leader foolishly running into battle Heizan was the next to strike and for the final time hope faded from the group of those that surrounded him here soon panic would arise and if nothing else they would all quickly fall. He had no idea of what he would do but for now he knew he would not raise his weapon as of yet simply watching and maybe moving to retreat here soon.
Dammit
The pain of the arrows had just registered upon his body now that he got a chance for a breather, of course his second day farming out here and he gets ambushed…he finally turned his eyes upon the raiding group watching as they came into view, four archers and six warriors on top of three wolves, now he was in trouble. His eyes shifted upward resting upon the gates of the city and the rough two trees that stood between him and that location, he could hop the tree's to make it to the village but maybe they would expect that, he would have to use all of his cunning for this and this would take an interesting amount of thought. First the wolves would need taken care of, he reached down and gripped the other shoe the last one he had left and removed it from his foot and took a nice smell making sure his scent was all over it. Second, he took both his hands and gripped the branch above him making certain to do this carefully he climbed up enough so his feet still rested on the branch below him, he kicked downward using the branch as leverage and breaking it at the same time the shoe fell hoping to force the warriors and the wolves to jump thinking that he was on the branch.
Using hopefully that distraction he would leap from the branch to the next tree, landing upon the branch shakily and painfully clasping his hand over his mouth to not make noise. He caught his footing quickly and jumped to the next tree jumping from it into a roll on the ground much similar to a tumble towards the gates. He didn't look back so as not to slow down.
Second Location ~ Grand Masai ~Just inside Gates
Shadow ~ Possibly Feather ~ Possibly Azmeryth ~ Possibly Tirian
He would tumble through the gates of the city and lay upon his back staring up at the daylight like sky, it all seemed so real despite the fact they were in a virtual world. Is this what they would have to suffer each day despite what they did, a slight sigh left his lips the chained blade that was his weapon laying sprawled on the ground next to him seeming to mimic the mans own position. He kinda was missing home…..his thoughts though were snatched back to reality by a roar that echoed over the hills, maybe the call of some creature other players angered. He shifted to his feet rather quickly grabbing the chain of his blade and turning to the direction of the noise, even from the gates of the city it was not hard to make out the raiding party that stood on the hills but for some reason they all seemed frozen with fear? Or Anguish? Whatever it was they were frozen and for now he would stay within the city walls and allow his bar of health to return to normal.
Tirian kind of grumbled as she pointed out the obvious, of course he could see her name, it was above but he was trying to be nice to some extent at least. That was online gaming though, some people you just couldn't be nice to because they wouldn't allow you to. "well yeah, er nice meeting you talk to you later." He didn't really care to try and continue much else as far as a one sided conversation, especially when she was going to be a prissy little girl. "Enjoy your training and what not" With that he took off again and was going to this old geezer of a Weapon smith.
He neared the smith and didn't spare time laying out his offer to the man. "I could go and try to just buy a sword if I wanted it, but I feel like helping someone else with their Skills, So is there any chance you would attempt to make me a Flawless One Handed Iron Sword?" The Man nodded with a gruff booming " sure Lad" and then took the Ore, accepting the final part of the deal of giving him 5 gold for the sword, when honestly he would pay the whole ten gold for a Flawless Sword.
GM Rolling for Hatters Smith~
Flawless Iron Sword~ Success (32) -Tirian obtains a Flawless Iron Sword for 10 Gp-
Tirian thanked the man promising him more of his business as it came and that he would see him around. Now the party had left to fight whatever the Field boss was. He had to hurry, and he knew that as he moved over to the square and equipped his gear. the Flawless iron Sword shined nicely in his right hand as his shield rest at his back. Tirian huffed a sigh for a second and then started on his way through the main courtyard after the group. However just as he was walking by the countain, he caught sight of a red head girl and her tamed wolf sitting on the fountain. she appeared to be counting out what money she had, and he was curious, especially with the fact she was a Reaper, she should have had a pretty decent amount of gold. " Gahh I am going to be so late to this battle!" he grumbled but in the end his compassion won him over as he crept over to the girl and her wolf.
He stood there for a few seconds not saying anything really, because he was really not sure what to say, it was somehow odd talking to women for him, maybe that was another reason he chose not to continue the conversation with the rude girl. "So, you were the one sleeping in the Alley near the Inn, I wasn't spying or anything, but I seen you come in to the Inn last night to ask for room and board, do you not have gold?" He probably was being brash, but that was part of his personality honestly. " Im not asking to like bother you or anything, but Im just saying the best gold is in questing and monster hunting, If we wait a little bit I could probably take you to the Forest ambush later to help you get some good gold if you'd like after I come back from the Field boss raid." he half smiled to her thought slightly nervous at this point. He was wasting a lot of time, but she did look extremely lonely, and as he did have a hard time talking to woman, he also had a soft spot for them as well. " Oh speaking of, if you can land one hit on the Boss when it falls you will get a drop and who knows it might even be the Rare Drop item. You might make bank off of an item like that if you can't use it." he was a bit overbearing now and he realized that and stepped back. " so er yeah you're welcome to come along with me if you want on this whole thing, but if you do just run and catch up to me Ill be heading out if not send me a message when you want to hunt... er if you want too..." That was all that was said as he nodded again and took off through the gate with rapid speed.
He was jogging slower than he normally would to give her a chance to keep up, if she came along he would make sure she at least got her one hit on the boss. He didn't have time to think of that however, when the deafening roar resounded and shook the air. " what the hell.." he whispered his eyes widening and then sped up a bit. He had to know, what the hell they had walked into, what had this guy Heizen lead them too? As he neared the dungeon however, it was unmistakable what they were facing. Towering over the hill now was a Stone Golem with moss and vines hanging from it. " Wh.. what!" he growled speeding off towards the boss with insane speed now. He could see a few people get launched into the air only to be shattered like glass. They were dead, and would never respawn, not now not ever, and it was because Heizen had done this. He had lead them to death.
Soon as Tirian reached the hill he started yelling at the top of his lungs. "Stop!, leave it be and run, we can't defeat this!" People were prideful however, and when they seen Heizen jump into battle in such a courageous way, they became null to the fact how stupid and suicidal this raid was. He grumbled watching over the hill as more of them were swept away, front line soldiers killed instantly without a thought from the great Goliath. Tirian shook his head, his fists clenching as he panicked, tried to calm but panicked when he thought about how this game had screwed them by placing this of all creatures in the first floor, The Designer was fucking with them, and he knew it!
Tirian knew something had to be done, he had to fight or run, or just Something! More people flew past him before they shattered into pieces, dead forever. He had seen enough now as his eyes darkened and he charged down to the back of the assault force barking orders against Heizen's word. "We need Reapers, and Whispers! We need Chained weapons, restrict its movement!" he rushed in but did not draw his shield, The Golems fist came down but he was swift to dodge to the side with his single sword drawn. Still he was knocked back and the collision damage messed him up but he had to do something here. Desperately he searched the creature for a weakness, something that might help them, but its armor was absolute, fighting it with the gear they had now, was literally impossible. "Reapers, whispers we need you or all of us will die here!" He roared while Heizen desperately tried to hack at the back of the things leg., and finally it seemed like the people noticed Tirian.
It started extremely slow, some Whispers with chained weapons took to the lines and simultaneously they cast their chains around the creatures' legs, Other stronger classes moving in to pull those chains and help hold some little restraint on the Golems movement. " we need more Chains!" The people were desperate, and if nothing else another aside from Heizen who had led them to this mess, another voice in this battle gave them even a little hope. Reapers lined up and others tugged, but the Golem was rearing back to strike again. The smash came down hard, but Tirian roared out an order moments before that. "Shield users take he brunt of the damage!" there was a rule that no attack could fully breach through a shield to claim an opponent's life unless it was a special weapon. The Golem clashed with the shields and they wer ein pain but they had survived, and in that moment when the Golem was crouched over to strike the Chains pulled and with a small stroke of luck the Golem tumbled to his knees grounded for the moment, but Tirian wasn't about to let them falsely believe they had gained an advantage. "We can NOT Defeat this Field Boss, we were not meant to, this is the Designers idea of a joke, we have to hold out until Noon, that is our only hope at this point!" Most people still looked gleaming of hope in their eyes, but they deep down knew, fighting this thing now was worthless, they had to keep it grounded where it could do the least Damage. "I need a strong Duel wielder to get at one of its arms and Legs, and hack at the cracks, if we damage it enough I doubt it can regain balance!"
He glanced over to a player durendal, he had recognized from before. " is there any chance you would lead the attack on the arm?" he questioned, he wasn't meaning to lead anyone but Jack, or well Tirian, Jack whatever had read the Monster Manual up and down, tactically figuring out ways for fun to thwart some creatures, and he was only lucky that he had glanced over this creature in particular before entering the game, plus Heizen was right, the bigger they are the harder they fall, the task was to keep them down. Which proved difficult when the Golem started thrashing on the ground. More chains were wound and then his arms were pulled to the ground. Honestly they had the creature, if they had weapons that could do that kind of damage, they had it, but they weren't supposed to beat it now, the Designer had made sure of that when he allowed only access to Iron weapons on the first Floor.
Location~ Glancing over the Hill at the Golem
" I probably should help them.." he murmured to himself smirking as he stood atop the hill and waited and watched. However the commotion had drawn in Goblins, which at the very least he could make bank off of the abundance of Goblins moving in. "Ohoho coming to back up big and ugly are we?' The goblins simply turned their heads before Morte moved at them drawing his weapon and spinning it around like a deathly razors as he hacked the two almost simultaneously. He was in the thick of the Goblins fighting them off while the rest handled the Golem. It didn't take long for other retreating members to notice and reason with themselves, that they could be righteous in helping slay the Golbins. " Ahh thanks then, lets cut them down aye?" Morte smirked and continued fighting three on him at once but it was hardly worth the Effort facing them with his skills.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

She had the feeling she'd be sitting on the edge of this fountain staring at her menu screen for the majority of the day in self loathing as the little numbers sat there in the corner, mocking her. 25GP? How pathetic. She was a Reaper, and by now, she could have had a descent amount of gold. If she'd taken the time to develop her combat skills, and spent her time fighting off monsters, and doing quests, she may have been where she should be in the game itself. Tch, so pathetic. Azzy grumbled, and slid her hand to her left so that the menu screen disappeared. There really was no sense in checking for the log out. It wouldnt be there...no matter how many times she checked. She'd simply given up looking after a few days. The redhead turned her gaze to the gray wolf laying beside her, and her hand came down to rest upon his head, one of his eyes opening to peep at her before it closed again. She'd have said something her her companion if it hadnt been for a male voice addressing her. Pale eyes lifted to meet with Tirian's own, and she tilted her head, her gaze narrowing just a tad as he spoke. He seemed to talk a lot, but other than that, he seemed to have genuine intentions of helping her. Nonetheless, she was an untrusting person, and that just wouldnt change...no matter how much she, and others would have liked so.

"I have about 25GP, so no...I dont exactly have gold. Yes I was sleeping in the alley, and I expect many others saw me as well as you. Thanks for the offer, but...the field boss is probably some big ol' beast that we have no chance to beat unless some of these baboons running around here have any sense of strategy, and logistics. Though.....the possibility of a drop is so tempting."

Azzy sighed as she looked at him, and smiled slightly, her head inclining in the smallest of nods as he pardoned himself, and took off in the direction of the battle that was surely started already. Azmeryth remained where she was for only a minute before she sighed, and rose from the edge of the fountain. She brushed off her dress once more, and snapped her fingers toward Temper who rose, and immediately moved to her side. The canine yawned, and stretched out before they both took off after Tirian. They'd stand back, and watch until the time to strike was right. They would then dash in, and claim their hit on whatever beast lay waiting for the assault of the gamers here who were intent on leveling, and bettering their skills in order to beat the game.

Azmeryth, and Temper made their way through the town, swift feet carrying them both through the front gate of Grand Masai, and then over the rolling hills of the First Floor. It wasnt long before they heard the angry growls, and yells of the field boss, and the shouts of players barking orders. Just over the...hill. What the hell had she gotten herself into? Azmeryth came to a dead stop at the top of the hill, her eyes wide as she stared down at the Golem desperately fighting to get to its feet. Whispers, and Reapers alike had their chained weapons restraining its movements only the slightly bit while the close range. blunt fighters moved in to attack what they assumed were the weak points of the giant beast. Had any of the people played MMO's before? This was typical of MMO developers. Put a field boss in areas where low level players spawned, respawned, and started out. Let them think its an easy boss, and then surprise them all by having the beast be entirely too strong for any beginners to handle. This was exactly one of those beasts. Azmeryth shook her head, and was tempted to turn around, and go back the other way, but she spotted Tirian. He was barking orders, and being very strategic about this fight, and it was odd, but she felt she could handle this if he were in charge, and not the bafoon who had originally led all these players into a fight they had no chance in. Heizen had led them all into death, but Tirian seemed to be handling this fight quite well.

Azmeryth growled getting angry at herself for making the decision to charge into this fight. She dashed down the hill, and came to a stop just within ear shot of Tirian, but it was Temper who spoke first. His bark was sharp, demanding as the dog directed it toward Tirian. Azmeryth then chimed in.

"Hey Sword Boy! What can we do to help?!"

She shouted above all the other noise; the growls of the Golem, the dying screams of fallen commrades, and the barking of orders from others who were put in charge of specific parts of the raid.

Morgana had wandered around town for a while,somewhat lost without a group. She had a little gold and now the idea of advertising her skills seemed tempting. She followed the red haired girl out of town. Maybe she would be interested in partnering up? Suddenly she began to hear shouts and screams from not far off. She ran up the hill and looked down on the devestation below. All those wounded......and Tirian. Her pulse raced, but what could she do? Her fighting skill was subpar. Without forethought she called out to him "Tirian!"

Tirian~Azmeryth/Morgana

Tirian was running around the creature now barely dodging swings as the Monster lifted its mighty arms away from the Reapers holding them down. Of course it would, this was a gigantic creature, deathly in all sense of the words and their strength just did not compare when it came down to it. " Hold him!" Tirian growled hacking where he could at cracks in the mighty stone shell of the monster. Heizen had almost completely disappeared at this point from battle, likely trying to avoid the problem of people looking at him like a failure. He didn't matter though, right now was the time for Tirian to just get them through this alive, and they had what seemed like another hour and a Half in game time before the creature would fade. That was the sad truth of all of this, the creature was screwed, they would actually be able to win like this, to fight it and win, but their weapons were NOT powerful enough to kill it before the time ran out.

He was about to bark out another command to the new set of shield users, as the others rested their bodies and some chugged potions, but the first to address him was the red head girl Azmeryth from before. His heart sank and his orders faltered for a second as a group of the Shield users got hit and knocked back, with little to no life left, they were pretty much unconscious, but he was frozen, because as he stood there and looked at her, he remembered the Boss battle, the crimson red hair of a woman with brilliant green eyes, how she smiled, and then.. How she faded right before his eyes. His eyes were glazed over as he fell into that moment and tried to regain himself, a dulled bit of voices echoing against his ears several times trying to grasp his attention, and finally as she got close enough he snapped out of it and looked at her with a bewildered expression. It was the first time in this battle he regretted having someone come along, but she was trying to do her best to help the fight, and he had to shake off the trauma to survive this.

He hated the fact that he had asked her to come to this battle, but he had really expected the creature to be no issue with such a huge party. He hadn't expected to lure her to ultimate death in a stone fucking shell. "Uhh." he stumbled, trying to shake the thought, and fear of her dying off his chest. "Umm do your best to try and catch it around the wrist and hold it down, bigger people will help you pull the chain, don't let your wolf attack though I think." He was flustered mostly because he really didn't want her here at this point; it tortured him to think about her dying even though he had just met her. The other reason was another familiar face had shown up to the battle and was requesting a way to better their efforts. " Uhh.. uhh… use your healing as much as possible to keep the Shield Users on their feet, we have other healers doing so as well…" he honestly couldn't believe that they were so brave and willing to listen to him, even though some had already ran away from the battle, a good lot of them that left only around 50-70 or so total remaining near the Golem. They had no chance but like this at least they could hold him down.

Tirian had lost some of his edge though; he didn't really care about most of the others, not truly even if he didn't want to see them dead. When these two girls stepped in, especially the Lady of the Fountain as he had taken to entitling her. He didn't know what else he could do though but just push past his fear, and watch from a distance as they both scurried off to help with the effort. He called to Azmeryth though, remembering how he had promised about the drop. "You know.. We aren't going to defeat it right!?" He questioned across the battlefield just as he took hold of one of the chains lacking efficient man power to hold. "I still promise to help you get gold though I haven't forgotten, just survive!" he called again glancing away for a moment as the Golem made another attack and the Shield users deflected it.

"Please…"

Durendal ~ Raid party

Durendal whistled, watching the spectacle and decided to himself that a bit of a better strategy would be required. It would hurt his chances of stealing the kill some but it would help the battle. Besides, if they didn't kill it, there would be no kill to steal and that would be no good. An attack on the arm was foolhardy. It'd just get them hit. He had better ideas. The golem was huge but at the same time had massive blind spots. It just so happened that they were a little hard to get to when it was truding about and crushing things. However, these were the hills.

"Retreat back to the edge of the hill! Once we've lured it to the edge, we'll use the chains to trip it and send it to the bottom. Once it is off its feet, we'll be able to hit it without getting hurt too much!" he called out. Naturally, he was well out of range, instead darting around, cutting down a few random goblins as they attacked the other players. All supporting kills which he had no intention of having a big fight for. Really, it was obvious to tell that they wouldn't have enough time to kill it when only a few attacked but if they could get it off its feet they could keep it off its feet and once that happened, they'd all be able to chip in constant damage. Their damage rate would increase several times over at the least. And if it didn't work, then no big loss on his part.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pale blue eyes glanced at Tirian as he struggled to help most of the other players here fighting against this immensely terrifying creature, and it was then that a stone will, and a refusal to let him worry about her took hold. Azmeryth looked at him, her pale eyes hard even though the look on her face gave away her fear of this fight. With a sharp nod, she looked at Temper, and commanded him to stay by Tirian's side. The dog was agile, and as Tirian moved to dodge the fists of the beast, Temper moved fluidly with him. It was her way of saying she'd be back. There was no way she would leave her companion behind, and Temper had a very prideful personality. Hopefully the canine's faith in this battle would lift Tirian's spirits. Azmeryth made her way across the battlefield, her feet agile, swift. She skidded to a stop by a group of Whispers and Reapers, her eyes glancing at their tired faces. Azzy then realized the true fear she felt of this battle. She let herself glance at each, and every player, how sweat formed on their brows, and how their arms shook with the stress of their jobs. Her knees began to shake, but then Tirian's voice called to her, and told her something that she had already figured out just by the site of the creature. Her lips twitched into the smallest of smiles as she then drew her chained sickle, and began to swing it waiting for the right moment, and scoping out the right place for her to aim it.
"I know!"
She replied, her eyes falling upon a small crevice in the Golem's wrist that no other chain had found. She swung her weapon three more time before releasing it. The chain connected, and wrapped around the beast's wrist sinking deep into the crevice before the hooked blade of the weapon itself plunged deep into a thick mass of vines, and moss. Azzy pulled the chain taught, the blade digging even further into the plantlike area before she knew her weapon was secure. Before she could even request help, large men were already grasping at the chain of her weapon, and pulling with her as they fought to keep the arm still. Unfortunately for them all, even with as much brute force as they had on just that single limb, the beast was stronger. It pulled against them with three times the strength they possessed, and feet slid across the ground. It was frightening as she saw some of the players toward the front of the chain lift from the ground, but their feet were soon planted again in a single moments noticed. The Golem would still fight though. It would soon lift them fron the ground, and fling them in any which way that it could if only to free its limb.
And Azzy seemed to have chosen the wrong side to be on because instead of pulling against their chains, the beast seemed to have a brain, and instead of ignoring the things that were restraining its movements, it had decided that attacking them instead of the shields would be more productive. The Golem's right hand rose as far as it possibly could before it thrust its fist down in the direction of the Reapers, and Whispers. Though they were far enough away that the fist wouldnt connect directly, the impact caused the ground to rumble, and most lost the footing, including Azmeryth herself. Her knees gave out, and she fell, but never let go of the chain...which could possibly be her biggest mistake in this battle. The Golem yanked it hand back taking many of the people who were clinging to chains with it. Azmeryth was one of those people. She held on tightly, her eyes closed as she soared through the air. The instant she felt herself descending, her stomach knotted. The girl hit the ground with a thud, and a cry of pain, but she lived, something broke, but she still lived. Unfortunately now they all were in arms reach of the Golem, who had had enough time to swipe his hand slowly, but lethally toward them. Fortunately she was in a far enough range to moved out of the way in time, even with a messed up leg. She limped away, her chain still in her hand. With a wince, she pulled it taught once again, and attempted to restrain him by herself. She didnt think she would be getting any help because the rest of the Whispers, and Reapers seemed to be injured, or dead now. It was surprising when other ran to her, and grasped the chain pulling while other chain weapons users thrust their weapons to restrain the hand once more.
They were all determined....and it was odd, and surprising to her.
Klugh~Golem Raiding party ~ Azmeryth
Klugh growled as he gripped the new chains that dug deep within the creatures wrist, he pulled with four other large characters and yet as he did so the creature still pulled them, metal boots sliding across the ground. The five of them were pulled forward, Klugh looked towards the other four men and nodded, almost on a designated time the five massive figures seems to stop their heels and begin pulling again, many of the chain users seemed to be falling short of death and began to limp away. He watched the red head one who was on the other wrist moments ago limp away as well, he groaned slightly once again as the creature heaved and five more gripped at another chain added to the same wrist he was already holding onto.
Shadow ~ Anybody
Shadow growled lightly finally as he turned around he would head out to the battle with whatever they were fighting shortly after he had decided what he would do. He tore across the Grand Masai his bare feet pounding against the stone ground as he tore towards the blacksmith shop, he stopped outside and pushed open the door and stepping in he had nothing but gold on him and he would do this like any other player, he stopped at the place where the blacksmith was and dropped all of his gold, he didn't speak simply pointed out a weapon, the owner counted the money and eyed Shadow and handed him the weapon, with that he turned and took off through the door heading out of the gates and towards the hills.
Shadow ~ Golem Raiding Party
He tore across the plains between the city and the hillside his bare feet making little to no sound as he tore through it, minutes later he rested at the back of the group, injuries covered the entirety of the field and a man with a sword and shield seemed to be shouting orders. He listened intently as the orders were shouted about, Shadows eyes focused upon the golem eyeing where they had each of the chains, that is what they were using the whispers and reapers for….though his wrist and hands were still out and about though just as crazy as he was he had an idea. Shadow darted forward passing right by Tirian with only a few words that would be nothing more than a simple whisper. "I am getting on his back maybe we can force it to damage itself…" Shadow circled around to behind the beast since the beast was caught down on one knee for now this would be somewhat quicker. He spun his old blade spinning the back end of the weapon and tossing it upward catching between one of the cracks of the creature, he yanked once making sure the chain was in position, he began climbing.
His bare feet stopped on one of the vines of the creatures making it so now he could climb without the use of the chain, he stopped upon the green of the vines and climbed quickly trying to make it to the creatures head before it either broke free or stood back up, in a few minutes and after a few stops due to the creature flinging about he made it to the rocky top much like a mountain. His hand rested on the new chain curled around his side and he looked down at the people that were on the ground, much of them seemed like ants and up here now he would watch and see trying to find a way to maybe draw the creatures attention. So he would listen and watch looking down at the people below.
Morgana to others
She nodded at Tirian's words. Her stomach twisted as she looked upon the battle but she reminded herself that she could help them. Taking a deep breath she worked her way into the fray and tried to avoid getting in the way of the fighters. As she spotted the wounded shield people Tirian had mentioned she sent her powers into them. It seemed more effective to heal them enough to fight but not necessarily completely, so then she could concentrate on more than one at a time. She winced as she saw the redheaded girl hit the ground. Morgana eased closer so she could also slightly tend the girl's leg.
Golem Vs raid Party/ All included in battle
The Golem roared in Anguish as it fell to its knees and did all that it could to hoist itself up from the ground with its massive arms. It was still a terrifying creature, even grounded like this. Each quake caused by its fist slamming into the ground was devastating to anyone close enough, and the numbers continued to pile up as for the deaths accumulated in this battle. The goliath thrashed on the ground roaring as more and more chains rounded about it, and some poor fools actually got wise to try and get within range of its foot which reared back and mule kicked them into dust. The single glowing eyes looked down upon them trying to survey for the source of the confinement but it had difficult time scanning through all of the players, it wasn't built to be dominated by floor 1 fighters.
Time went on and with it, so did fatigue, setting in like disease,as the chains slackened and the Golem twisted and flung one of his arms up throwing at least ten chain users into the air with ease. The sound of cracking was heard as some hit the ground extremely hard. The Golem roared again and started to lift to its leg again, but the chains had already tugged back the leg again which only angered it more. It spotted a white haired player with peculiar markings, that thus far had been dodging all strikes but it would not fail this time. Three gigantic lashes of its mighty fist and a few groups were wiped away like nothing, one particular of Shielders that were near the healers at that time. Then a group of chain users that held his other arm, setting him free from that too as he raised his arms back and sent a giant two handed smash at the unaware Tirian landing critical damage and knocking him back into the group in front of him, only avoiding the death blow, because it hit the shield on the mans back.
The Golem had other things to worry about though as it let out another great roar and felt the little but moving along its back. What a brave soul to trail up the creatures spine and then even make himself a throne atop its head? Brave, or foolish, either word was befitting really. The golem slammed both hands down trying to shake off the moron on its back, attempting with everything it had to kill the man of fling him off. Still chains constricted it, so he was hardly able to grasp at the creature and was helpless to the power of these bastards, but how would they do with the white haired 'Commander' no longer leading them? He wasn't done thrashing though, and though his patterns were easily read they were still a devastating force. Time was running very close they only had a few minutes until noon really about 20 or so, would they last? would they kill it with that much time? not if the Golem of the Hills could help it.
Kaozuki ~ people
Kaozuki had stood there paralyzed for a while, unable to budge an inch. It had become even worse after the first wave had been flattened. She could tell that running at it would result in getting them killed but watching it was gut wrenching. Some fought, some ran for their lives, and some hadn't the nerve to do either just like her. It was only when the golem dropped to its knees that she was finally able to move. Putting on as determined a look as she could muster, she headed for the golem, going for the armpit/shounder area on the left arm. She figured that if they damaged it enough, maybe it would be able to beat them down with that arm at least but as she got closer, the knot in her stomach started to return. The fact was that if the golem brought its hand down on her, there was no way she could possibly survive.
Durendal ~ golem
Durendal groaned. They were behind schedule and didn't seem to get the idea. Doing it like this took up too much in terms of resources and time. Rushing in between the arms, he went straight for the face. In the magical candyland where everything went right, he'd have been able to climb up the back but nooooooooo. So instead he was forced to make a quick climb up the head to get to the top. Finding a good crevice to brace himself on near the rune looking thing on the golem's head, he took one of his swords in both hands and stabbed down on it. It took several tries to get the angle just right and once he had it, it was off to work, trying to wreck the rune. If this strategy was going to work, he was pretty sure he'd get a reaction from the thing. If he didn't, it meant that either the designers didn't know how golems worked or were too lazy to put that feature in. Or there was another catalyst point but that was unlikely given the unnatural design that he was trying to destroy.
As if the bug wasn't enough to bother him now he had some little girl that he couldn't actually reach. The Golem roared and kicked its feet when it could, but nothing got the bee sting of a girl away from its leg. If he could speak he would likely be saying very rude things at this point toward that woman. Still it didn't stop trying to kick the girl, and after a little bit the sting of the shock off the stick was starting to pester but that was about it, only driving its rage more and more. By this point they had managed to cut its first Bar of health Almost 1/4 of the way down.
On the other hand, some girl was hacking at the shoulder, and more to that annoyance when he tried to hit her away, he couldn't for the chains that held his wrist. The Golem roared again this time roaring right in the girls face as it turned. It could be said the creature had extremely rancid breath after all. However what else could it do with being dog piled like this, and her being near the shoulder where its hand could not reach at that point.
Feather ~ Solo
It was hard not to get a little excited by her first successful potion craft. Sure, the success rate was pretty kind to F-Ranks on level one, but obtaining this one little potion meant 50 GP that would, at the very least, cover her expenses from the night prior. If she continued to grind a little bit each day on the wolves, not only would Feather be increasing her skill with a weapon. She would also be earning enough money to buy materials for potion making, which in turn would boost her income exponentially. It was a win-win situation... on paper, anyway. But that didn't account for the poor strategy of picking off four or five wolves a day, nor did it consider luck a factor for her actual skill. What else could she do, though? Join a raid party and get herself killed? There was no incentive for her to trust the other players in this game. Unlike other MMO's, your character didn't respawn after being killed. When a character died in game, their puppet master met the same fate. People had no reason to risk their life for other players in this game - how could she trust that when a goblin swung a mace at her neck there would be someone to risk deflecting it?
Still, to a certain extent Feather sought to have some companionship. So many months of looking forward to Quest left her eager to delve into an amazing game and find the friendship unavailable in real life. She'd been pumping herself up with the idea of forming parties with fun people, and letting loose the animosity which stole a place in her chest and called the little cold corner a home. But things were different now... Looking out into the recently vacated marketplace, she could see just how far from that fleeting dream this game rendered her. And if things happened like she knew they would, Quest Online would be the last game Feather... Lira, would ever get to play. For the past few days she tried to push this realization away, keeping busy with grinding and just figuring out a means for survival. But now that she had time to think without worrying about immediate consequences, the hard mask began to crack and fall away from her childish face. For what seemed an eternity she curled up on the bench in her vacated little potion stand; face tucked into the caps of her bare knees, long black hair cloaking the little elfin girl from external noises. If she didn't look upon the world Feather could pretend it didn't exist. She could pretend that her life wasn't constantly at risk, and she could block out the dreadful emotions that left her feeling stranded and lonely.
Block it out... She could block it all out, and not have to worry about anything.
She could go to sleep, and never wake up again; nobody would notice.
Feather would fade, and so too would Lira drift away on the wind. Pale ashes from a forgotten tragedy.
She didn't want to feel this way. Loneliness was a ghost she'd become well acquainted with, and her hardened heart sought to deflect any injury from its cold grip. Yet she could not keep from crumbling under the weight of the silence. Somewhere far away from this abandoned crafting hut a war waged. People fought together, protecting and defending one another and trying all the same to dominate a boss monster that promised riches in the form of a death will. Why did she refuse Tirian's offer? What point was there to act rude and turn a shoulder to a perfectly nice player? She could blame the way she'd been raised, or the natural despondency toward "nice people", but they would be just that - blames, excuses, little bugs that crawled through her head and tied her to this empty place. "I shouldn't be here... I shouldn't be acting like this." There was really no reason to hold back in this game. No reason to mistrust people, really, because it wasn't like Lira had something to return to if she lived. Quest was the best thing she'd get, from now until death. It was an opportunity to live life to its fullest extents, to make friendships and struggle with people who knew her pain. So what if she couldn't fight for anything? If she died, no harm would be done at this point. Nothing would really change - up until now, this game, Lira had never really been living anyway.
Feather ~ Tirian / Other Players
But with the opportunity of life dangling before her fingertips, Feather could hardly keep herself from taking hold of the hateful future and pursuing it with everything she had. And maybe along the way, she would find people worth changing her harsh personality for. Maybe. That man was a good start - er, really the only start she had, because he was the only person she'd yet to fully converse with other than the two snooty women. As she sprung from the stand and darted off down the street toward the gate of Grand Masai, Feather doused the doubts that pulled her back toward safety. Any limitations were left behind in the Market Place. And somewhere along the way, the faintest grin animated her lips. The grin was pretty short lived; as she came to stand atop the hills that loomed overhead, Feather's blood ran cold at the sight of it. A massive golem towered before her, and every second she could see another small wave of players washed into oblivion by its fists. One hit by that thing and she'd be done for completely.
"What the hell... did I get myself into..."
To some extent the beast was frightening but Feather was more-so contorted by the utter disbelief that came with discovering such a magnificently horrible thing. Adrenalin still pulsed through her small limbs, but watching over the pointless battle kicked her senses into overdrive. Reason told her to run far away and abandon the stupid little resolution she'd made. But pride, the hateful little thing, kept her feet firmly planted atop the hill not that far a distance from the golem's damage range. For now she was safe... but the army of players down below were far from it. She couldn't do anything to help them. Feather wasn't a healer; she didn't have an endless supply of potions that could bring them all back to full health. All she had was a relatively enhanced speed and the worn started throwing knives in her bag. None of that would damage or save anything... Nothing she could do would help the situation... and realizing that in the face of such a tragedy tore her confidence to pieces.
Something stirred Feather from her frozen state, however; the cries from an unexpected assault, and the sight of two giant fists slamming down into a group of people. Dead. All of them must have been - no player could withstand such an attack on level 1 with such crappy armors and defense. Yet to her surprise a body was flung from the chaos of the golem's assault. It soared a small distance, smashing into the ground with deadly force but not yet crumbling like the others that'd been hit. If that alone weren't enough to steal her attention, than certainly the crown of familiar white hair got her feet moving. Before she could really think about what she was doing Feather darted forward with the speed of a tiger, bounding toward the fallen body that had still yet to fade away. By the time she reached him Feather knew what face to expect; Tirian, the man from earlier, the nice guy she'd been rude to. He couldn't even move. Whatever strength he still possessed went in to staying alive, and to do so meant knocking him unconscious and susceptible to another attack. How could this have happened... why did it have to be him?
"Tirian! Get up, you idiot!" Surprising only herself Feather called out to him with a panicked voice. She shook him, not to make the injuries worse but to rouse him from his temporary coma and somehow get him to leave this place. Tirian was too far gone to hear her, though, and nothing she could do to jostle him proved useful. For a long moment - longer than she had to waste - Feather watched him with a helpless gaze, not deaf to the golem's roar or the fact that debris was raining down around them with every second. Her adrenalin was long gone and now, finally, she felt fear... not for herself, but for the helpless creature that lay at her feet. He was a picture from her memory, aged only by 10 years but still a mirror to the little boy she'd cherished above any other. They shared the same eyes, the same skin, even the same hair if only slightly different from that child's ashy white-blond locks.
Again, Lira would be forced to see this boy die... unable to do anything... But that wasn't really accurate. Lira was older now, and this time she had some means to protect him. It seemed obvious now and despite how desperately she needed the money, Feather drew from her bag the potion she'd crafted earlier and brought the small bottle to his lips. Hopefully it would be enough; hopefully it would be worth something. She couldn't afford to think that it was useless because that energy was needed to lift his arms and drag him, slowly, from the immediate attack range of the golem. They weren't that far from a safe zone, but even then she probably wouldn't be able to hold off smaller monsters and keep him safe. But this had to be enough... everything she did, every ounce of strength she poured into him, had to be enough for now. Why was she even trying if it couldn't be?
