Screams of profanity and disgust rang throughout the crowd, but Nechronica cared very little about it. Though this would be her first anti-riot job, this wasn't her first riot, and she knew how these things turned out. Perhaps she did go overboard with the weapons, but than the protesters could ask themselves: Do they really think the Policus wouldn't be willing to gun them down? Would it be a smart idea to make them? Of course, Nechronica didn't ask and merely waited for the justification to open fire. And than shit hit the fan.

She had expected for one of the protestors, who was packing a pistol, to do something stupid like open fire. But instead Nechronica was detecting a different source of danger in the distance at the Prime Hour Tower. She had opened up another channel on her headset to listen in on the live broadcast while waiting, but when she spied the glowing light she didn't need to know too much to know that something was going to happen. An explosion.

Nechronica switched to the Policus channel and started shouting orders. "Corral this crowd! Do not open fire, but block all exits and entrances to the bridge! I want no one going in or out that isn't Policus. I don't know what the hell that explosion is, but chances are someone in this crowd does. Arrest them all. Armel, I'll leave it to you to question the protesters and see who amongst them orchestrated that attack. I'm going to take a small team to get to ground zero of the Prime Hour Tower, try to find the culprit and if failing that, see who's left alive."

Nechronica really shouldn't be giving orders, but frankly she didn't care. Someone just attacked the Prime Hour Tower, who had Sparkle Belle Lovejoy. Someone just nearly killed her. And Nechronica wasn't going to let that go. Activating the grav-pack Nechronica ordered anyone else with a grav-pack to follow her towards the Prime Hour Tower. She also called to HQ to alert them of the tower's fall and requested that they send paramedics and extra security. If whoever blew up the tower was still there, they might not be alone, and Nechronica wasn't about to bring herself to a meat grinder.

A total of five other officers joined up with Nechronica, somewhat uncertain of what was going on. But it seemed like Nechronica at least knew enough to give orders. "Follow me and keep your eyes sharp. If Pain Stakers are involved they might not be done yet. Either way, be careful. If you see any suspicious objects, bags, boxes, things you don't know, report and don't touch it! We're going to go in and see if we can find who ever is responsible for that attack, as well as any survivors." Nechronica expanded her Radar to pick up just about everything. She could already see the dead and dying all the way to the Prime Hour Tower, and lead her team out.

On the bridge the Policus acted fast. All the entrances behind and in front of the protesters were cut off by their cruisers or trucks. barricades in the form of one-way transparent energy shields also served to fence the protesters in. The only way they would get off is by getting past the Policus, or jumping the bridge. Anyone trying to get in would get turned away. Anyone trying to get out would get taken down, put into cuffs, and thrown into one of the vans.

Laina Horello | Layer 1, Whiteridge

Sprinting forward past rubble and towards the rising smoke in the distance, Laina's fear grew more and more vivid as she approached the location of Whiteridge. Though all of her hopes were blown to dust as she reached what was once the small pathway leading to it's door. Falling to her hands and knees, she shot her view away from the sight of what was left.. And set them upon the floor beneath her that was decorated with stray pieces of metal from the train, and concrete from the former building.

All that was left of Whiteridge lay now in ruins, a pile of rubble and flame.

Cloth covered fingers pressing to the remnants below with one hand, the other slamming a closed fist into the ground, Laina hung her head down in defeat and disbelief. Thirty-four children, and two patrons within that orphanage had died.. All good people, who spent their lives living on the bare minimum. Only to be ended, like this? She lifted herself from the ground, only to let out a shriek of pain, tears forcing their way down her cheeks.

"It's not fair, it's not fair!"

Grumbling, she forced herself off the ground. Pacing slowly towards tragic scene, she lifelessly stepped upon fragments of the former building, looking for any signs of life. Her eyes painfully scanned the large chunks of former rooms that once stood strong. Her search always seemed to fall short however, trails of evidence would lead her to scraps of clothing. Scraps of clothing would lead her to... unmentionable things. But it was when she heard a hushed cough below these ruins, that she sprung alive once again. Hopping over hazards and into the sound's location, she'd begin to dig... Someone had to have survived, anyone, and it was in her digging that she found her special person.

"Zael! Zael!"

She pulled the lifeless boy from the hole he was buried within, grasping his arm and pulling with all of her might to pry him out. As he was released, to Laina's dismay she found that he had lost his entire right leg, and his left up to his knee was broken and scrambled. The grim siight of the condition he was in hurt her, turning away from his ash-covered face, she hoped for a response.

"Y- late..." He exhumed, most of his energy being relinquished by the accident.

"Would've been here faster if you called my damn name." She whimpered, letting some more tears free to stream down her cheeks.

"You h- legs.. Should use'm." He breathed heavy, losing the energy to even speak.

"Shhh... I need to sit you down somewhere." Laina reached towards Zael, about to pick him up, but she was denied.

The boy clasped her shoulder, clenching it tightly and surprising having enough strength to pull her towards his face. His bronze eyes meeting Laina's in sympathetic expression, and closing once before he opened his mouth and let out a deep breath.

"You wanted t- give me someth-?" He choked out, spitting up some blood and gripping his left thigh with his free hand.

"Y-yes! Right here!" Sobbing, Laina reached into her bag pulling out the stone she had found.

Releasing his grip of Laina's shoulder, Zael opened his right hand before him. She dropped the stone into his palm, closing his fingers around it for him.

"You are now, an initiate hero. Under myself... Zael, you have to live." Laina pleaded to the boy.

His breathing was already growing slower, his eyes continuing remain shut for longer and longer. Until he finally placed both of his hands on Laina's cheeks, rubbing them lightly before falling lifeless, both arms slumping down to the ruins at their feet. The sight was terrifying to Laina, something surreal and cruel beyond meaning. Reality of the situation set in her mind once again, and in response she let out a bestial scream.

It was now that a mass of people of different kinds began to form around her. To the east firemen began to arrive spraying the ignited areas with hydro cannons and water spells, the west held paramedics readying their supplies and preparing the scour the area for wounded, and to the north were a Policus group evacuating the area. Once the group to the north caught sight of her, they rushed to her position thinking like most of them do..

Before this however, a particularly fast paramedic had already made it to her location. Already seeing that she hadn't been wounded, he moved on to the rubble, pulling corpses from the dust and confirming their deaths. It irritated Laina, and she didn't really know why.

"Don't throw them around like rag dolls!" She commanded, still standing next to the corpse of Zael.

The man turned, nonchalantly eyeing her over as the Policus finally made it to her position.

"Were you here when the explosion occurred?"
"Do you know the culprit of these incidences?"
"Are you a victim of this attack?"

In a burst of rage, Laina fired a punch towards the leading officers faceshield, clearing the glass barrier and very well hitting him with a shard decorated punch straight into his nose. The bodysuit protecting her hand from being wounded in this action, Laina quickly pulled her hand from within the officer's helmet and vaulted back a fair distance.

She took a final look at Zael's lifeless body, before taking notice of her error power's signalling. Transporting herself to the first person's call available and avoiding any retaliation from the Policus.

At first Sparkle felt that the interview was going well. Pierce was asking her questions and she was answering them, even with Barenna giving attitude like always. Then out of nowhere the building started to shake. Sparkle was terrified clutching her purse with Mr. Sparks in it. She didn't know what was going on, but she was ushered backstage. She ended up finding her manager Barry Jones. "Sparkle! We need to get out of here now!" Barry grabbed Sparkle's wrist and ran towards what seemed like an exit. Instead of an exit it lead to the roof. "Barry we don't have any other option." Sparkle with tears of fear in eyes shook her head. "Yeah...your right Sparks, let's go!"

Once Sparkle and Barry made it to the roof, they could see the chaos. People were screaming and running like maniacs. Sparkle could see Policus surrounding the building. Who would do something like this. Sparkle couldn't believe crazy people were really in this world. "Now what...we can't possibly jump from all the way up here." Barry wasn't good under this type of pressure, he wasn't making any sense. Sparkle remembering that she could levitate, she would use her butterfly wings to give her extra power to carry Barry and herself to safety. "Barry please trust me, I think I can fly us off this building to safety." Barry looked at Sparkle like she had just gone insane. "You cannot possibly carry me this high up?" Sparkle didn't listen. She grabbed his arms, and she used her magic to levitate off the roof. At first she was doing a good job but then she started to falter. "Sparks...Sparks! What's wrong?" Barry was starting to get paranoid and scared. "I don't know, my magic is being over used. If we don't get to ground soon we're going to plummet." Sparkle didn't know what she would do, she just had to hope something or someone would help them soon.

COLLAB BETWEEN CASANOVA DEL LA ROSA AND LUCIUS CYPHER

Nechronica and her team were closing in on the collapsing Power Hour Tower. It was slowly but surely crumbling; they had maybe thirty minutes at most before the tower would collapse under it's own weight. People were going to die. Nechronica was going to figure out who did this. Already there was some Policus convoys around the tower, escorting citizens out of the danger zone and making sure no one got caught. But it was way too dangerous for anyone to actually go in and try to save anyone. They'd need some powerful mages to stop the collapse of the tower, and frankly, things got out of hand way too fast.

Nechronica was already hearing of another explosion at the Stret Col District, one of comparable size to what happened at the tower. One of the officers there managed to get a mug shot of the bomber before he got away. Nechronica would keep note of his face, but until she found him she won't be able to Mark him. But if he was involved with this attack... There was hell to pay.

As her group got nearer, they spotted something in the air. Nechronica used her Radar to zoom in on the floating objects. Than she realized they weren't objects, but people. And than Nechronica gunned it. It caught the other officers by surprised as they tried to keep up.

And just as the pink-haired girl was about to lose her grip on both her manager and her magic, Nechronica grabbed with in her own arms. One of the other officers grabbed her manager, and soon the entire team landed safely near a Policus cruiser.

The officers were setting the manager down and were giving him a stern questioning, but Nechronica was a mix of stoic professionalism and absolute giddiness. She tried to sound tough, but she couldn't help it. When Nechronica spoke, it sounded like she was about to sequel.

"Oh my god oh my god, Sparkle Belle Lovejoy, are you okay?!"

At first Sparkle had to try and wrapped her mind around what had just happen. First she was at an interview, then a bomb attack, and now she was saved by what seemed to be her biggest fan. Sparkle was scared yet excited at the same time, this was a once in a life time coincidence. First Sparkle had to get herself together, she was still shaken up. She had almost died and killed her manager at the same time.

"Yes, I'm ok...well if you can say being terrified is ok." Sparkle gave a little chuckle, but there was still smoke in her lungs. She hope that it didn't leave permanent damage. Her voice was her everything. "I would love to get your name, so I can tell the soon to be interviewers and paparazzi who saved me." Sparkle eyes lit up, she soon realized that the person who saved her was a woman. Sparkle was all about women empowerment.

Nechronica was completely flustered. She was asked her name and yet she didn't know what to say! She wanted to say so much to Sparkle about how Nechronica loved everything she did, but she felt that was too creepy, but at the same time Nechronica didn't know what else to do! Only when she heard a couple of the officers talking about Sparkle's manager did she remember to say something.

"Ah ha ha! Oh my god I can't believe this is happening... Right, right, my name! I'm Nechronica. Ah, Nica to my friends." Actually no one called her that. She just made it up on the spot and really hoped that Sparkle would call her that. "Junior Officer of the Policus. We came as soon as we saw the explosion, to save as many people as we can before it's too late." Nechronica was oddly cheery despite the Power Hour Tower behind her slowly falling to ruins. Which also reminded her that they were still in danger.

Glancing over to the tower, Nechronica became a bit more serious. While her voice still held a bit of excitement over meeting Sparkle Belle Lovejoy, she certainly wasn't about to let her fangirlism endanger her idol any longer. "Anyways, this place isn't safe. I think some of the Policus have set up medical wards not too far away. Let's get you and your friend checked up. Come with me, if you'll please." It was a good thing Nechronica had her mask over her face, or else her smile might have been so bright that she'd melt Sparkle's face off.

"Ok...Nica, by the way you can just call me Sparks. All my friends call me Sparks." Sparkle went over to Barry to help him up, he didn't look really well. He was more terrified then Sparkle could imagine. She didn't like seeing this side of her strong no bull taking manager. "Ok Barry me and my new friend Nica and her officers, are going to take you to the medical ward." Barry just shook his head yes. He was so paralyzed with fear that he couldn't even speak.

With the help of the Policus, Sparkle got ready to bring Barry to the doctors. She just hopes that they can do something for her manager. He was like a father to her, if anything happen to him she wouldn't be able to go on. Sparkle just hopes that everything will be ok and hopefully Nica can find out what sick bastard tried to kill over a million people. Whoever did this would surely pay...severely.

Despite the tragedy that had occurred, Nechronica was absolutely delighted for other reasons. Not only was Sparkle calling her Nica, she wants Nechronica to call her Sparks! Only friends get to call her that, and Sparkle wanted her to call her that! That means that Sparkles wanted to be friends with Nechronica! Perhaps it was a good thing she got called into work today. She'd never be able to save Sparkle if Nechronica didn't have access to Policus tech. The thirty year old woman was almost skipping towards the medical wards, with her idol and her idol's manager in tow.

Once they arrived Nechronica went into work mode and spoke to the medics present. "Alright, we have two from the tower here. Sparkle Belle Lovejoy and her friend Barry. They're celebrities, so treat them well. We're expecting more from that tower too, so don't waste too much time chatting." The doctors present began to prep their equipment for what was likely to be a rather bloody scene. Not everyone was as lucky Sparkle and Barry, and Nechronica hopes to get them out before having to expose Sparkle to the... Effects of a explosion.

She was also getting a lot of messages from other Policus officers about a suspect heading towards central. The face of that man showed up again, and Nechronica's fury raged, though she kept it in check while she was in the present of Sparkle. As much as she wanted to stay by her idol's side, there was still much work to be done. "Sorry about this Sparks, but duty calls. I just got word that the suspect responsible for this attack is near by. I'm not about to let him get away. Here," Digging underneath her flak armor Nechronica took out her business card and handed it to Sparkle. "If you ever need the best the Policus has to offer, call me up. And when you're done here, see if you can make your way to a Policus office. I know you have nothing to do with what happened today, but just to make sure that you're protected I want you to head over there and give a statement of what happened. Every bit helps us find out who did this, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd like to know if you made it out alright."

Sparkle took Nechronica's card, she put in her purse for safe keeping. "Thank you so much for everything Nica, I don't know how I could ever repay you." Then something hit her, well an idea. Sparkle took out her phone that Barry bought her. She look through it and found a list of V.I.P. tickets. She would set one up for Nica in her name. "If your not busy I am going to have a concert soon...my first one and I just put your name down for V.I.P. so when you or if you decide to come, you can get in for free. You can also hangout with me later on too." Sparkle gave a bright innocent smile to Nica.

"Now you go an get the person or people who did that bad thing." After Sparkle was patched up and she knew that Barry was ok she would go back to the scene. She had some medical experience so she could be of some help. What would it look like if she just left without seeing if her fans and everyone else was ok? She gave Nica a hug goodbye and the doctors ushered her and Barry to the examiner room.

Nechronica debated dying right there, right now. She felt that nothing could ever compare to the happiness that Nechronica was feeling right now. First she befriends THE Sparkle Belle Lovejoy, is now on her VIP list, and she got a hug?! But Nechronica knew better than to do something as foolish as splatter her brains, least of all here. Besides, how else was she suppose to enjoy Spark's friendship and concerts if she was dead? She just wished she had recorded the whole thing so she could look back on it during a rainy day.

Once Sparks went to get her check up, Nechronica did her best to calm herself down. Sparkle would be safe here given the huge garrison of Policus troops, some of whom were already getting more injured victims to the medical wards. "Alright Nica, time to work. Let's find that scumbag responsible for this." Nechronica went into one of the Policus vans to switch out her gear. She wasn't going to be on riot control so she didn't need her M-100 anymore, and instead brought more ammunition for her RCW. Also while in the safety of the van, Nechronica knelt to the ground and began to focus her Radar.

The Radar range expanded to cover the entire layer and than some. She was picking up a lot of readings everywhere, but she narrowed it down to the area around the Power Hour Tower. Who ever did this must be near by; if they were Pain Stakers, she wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to see their handiwork. But frankly there was a lot of people around that was gawking. It would be hard for her to pick out just any one of them. But than she spotted someone who stood out. She used her Scrying ability to get a good look at his face.

"You!"

Heat. It was warmer here. Or there. The concrete walls were ravaged, an orange glow emanating from a few of the scars that blemished the otherwise perfectly gray walls. It was heat that was warm and dangerous. A shiny, glowy thing. Volkov disliked it. Disliked fire that melted. But his curiousity won out at the end. He touched the open scars, watched as it dimmed, hurted as his flesh sizzled, relaxed as the sizzling disappeared, giving way to dark, unmarred skin once more. And with his curiousity satisfied, he walked on, following the sounds that echoed through the lifeless sewers.

Turning the corner though, the giant of a child was greeted with a scene that he had never witnessed down in the sewers of Neo-Babylon. Two of her in the same place, and only one other being. Amazing. He looked around, incredulous. It was odd, that he wasn't suddenly attacked by uniformed flowers. Even odder, that red silk flowed freely from the arm of one of her. He understood burning, and he understood that burns did not bleed.

A girl with fire hair and a sharp torch stood over her, as well as a metal thing. A metal thing that stood eye-level to Volkov, slim and sharp. Dark red paint coated one of its hands. Made it look like a weapon. Probably was a weapon. A sharp, cutting, running thing, instead of a blunt, blasting, rolling thing. So what was it doing? Also hunting for her? No, that was silly. He was the only one who knew her, the only one who remembered her, regardless of how much it hurt to. Ah, Volkov was silly.

What was her hair color? Was it red? Was it yellow? What about her face? Her clothing? Her voice? A live sample was best, but nothing that the red-haired girl did reminded him of her, outside of the gender. It made him sad, and sadness made him breathe deeply. They spoke, but he cared little for their specifics, because no, they were not her. The metal man and the burning girl were not her. But perhaps, they could still be friends? Friends that didn't break? That metal man seemed promising, and was even smiling. Friends helped friends, after all. Friends would help Volkov find her. And then, all was good in the world.

But curiousity came first.

"Volkov is Volkov," he said, patting his chest to signify himself, "This is Volkov's home. Why has two of her come to his home? Why is one of her bleeding? Why crying? Why burning? Why smiling?"

It was as his infantile mind cycled through countless questions that he came to the most important one of all, the one that made his mouth curve upwards under the red mask of a demon.

"And how much does it take to make you blossom?"

"Dustwake" - Jhanuis Bedniv | Central Babylon, Prime Hour Tower, Lobby
---

"Thank you." Jin answered the secretary with a slight, courteous nod of the head before excusing himself out of the room and into the lobby, backpack hanging from one arm as the door slid and clicked to a close behind him. Life, either organic or only seemingly so, moved about in different directions all throughout the massive room. Some continued to repeat the lines that were instructed to them monotonously, while others brimmed with a lifelike vigor.

Jin clamped the strip of rope to the thin piece of plastic without nary a glance, his attention taken up by a technicolor virtual idol breaking out into a dazzling dance routine on one of the super-large screens, all the while accompanied by one of the pop star Sparkle Belle Lovejoy's songs. At the same time, a voice-over attempted to announce to viewers the fact that said singer would be attending a particular installment of Morning Hours this week. Taking slight note at the date and time mentioned by the female voice as well as he could make out, Jin fished his tiny little vidcube out of a pocket and stole a look at its time display. He realized Sparkle's interview was today, and was already starting, to boot.

"That Kano... He'd definitely know about this. What a sneak..." thought Jin, letting out a low sigh at the image of Kano's expectations that popped into his head. For a moment, Jin seemed to just stand there. He continued to watch the pixels in the shape of a person try to imitate one of life's most paltry activities, pouring out its electronic heart and soul into a bright, cheery smile for everyone. When, in all likeliness, it couldn't even smile for itself. He couldn't offer any of his, even at the thought of this. He was offered some food for thought for a while, but his interests in the matter nonetheless waned soon after. It's been 300 years since, after all, despite what his soul is telling him.

Turning around on his soles, Jin went back to drowning himself amidst the sound of society, where his hopes lay. Even if it wasn't a luxury that was commonplace then, maybe it could be different for his sons and daughters now. Now--

Rumble

A step of his fell out of line. Once he wondered if it was an object of his imagination, but the confused and slightly startled looks on the faces of the rest of those residing in the lobby urged Jin to think otherwise. For a single moment that seemed to last immeasurably longer, Jin looked straight into the frightened eyes of the girl offering digital pamphlets to promote her company's newest work.

As the ringing in his ears stopped, so did her life.

Collab with Suras, Dusk, et moi
Where stuff goes wrong, Eden gets traumatized (maybe) & almost killed, property damage into the tens of thousands (maybe again) occurs, and the pair find out about the bombing. Yaaay~
Katergi hopped over the alley wall and into the enclosure just outside the warehouse. The series of storage buildings were lined up neatly with a fence in between every one of them, somehow needed to maintain "extra" security. As far as Katergi coudl initially tell, it was a pretty standard warehouse likely containing building materials or construction vehicles and the like.
The entirety of the complex was situated underneath a massive overhang extending at least several hundred yards in every direction. Above it rested even more buildings understandably; the stratification of Neo Babylon knew know bounds. It almost felt dangerous standing underneath a llayer of skyscrapers, but few doubted the structural integrity of the cities makeup.
A space of about fifty square yards was cleared of obstacles between Katergi and the warehouse, though a few stacks of crates and unidentifiable miscellaneous objects were kept close to the sides.
Landing on the opposite side of the wall, Katergi took a moment to survey his surroundings before finally focusing on the targeted warehouse. Things seemed to be quiet at the moment, which was a good sign at the least. Still, he drew one of his firearms from the holster just in case as he waited for Ms. Pylar to join him. In the mean time he also clenched his other hand into a fist and muttered, "Matil Panos. Come, Soarus." A bright flash emanated from the back of his hand, a pair of wings crawling into existence on his skin.
Like the roar of flame that accompanied Orthrus' birth, Soarus' manifestation was announced by a gust of wind. As he lowered the arm that he'd raised to shield his eyes from the kicked up dust and dirt, the mighty creature stood before him, lowering its wings as it looked into his eyes. Nodding up towards the overpass above, he asked, "Keep an eye out above for me?" With a sharp nod, the avian flapped its wings once and took to the air above easily. It wouldn't be sharing memories anytime soon, but the extra pair of eyes above would be invaluable.
As Katergi went over the wall, Eden placed her palms against it's cold surface. A soft glow emanated from them, spreading up and down the wall in lines. These lines connected to form rungs, and with a moment's concentration, the glow solidified into an opalescent crystal ladder. It was rugged, to say the least. "Too bad...coulda sold it." Eden shrugged before using it to scale the wall, bending her legs to land at least somewhat better on the other side.
She caught Mr. Renwald summoning an avian creature, the wind blowing her hair and scarves, prompting her to wipe the dust off of her face. Eden stepped up to him as his bird friend flew up into the air. "Well, that was something." She remarked, smiling. The young woman then looked ahead, across the large clearing. "Over there, then?" She motioned with a nod.
"Mhmm," he hummed in confirmation as he watched Soarus begin circling around the area just underneath the underpass. "If you've got any defensive spells though, be ready to use them." While he didn't want to think Mr. Rattim had sent them into an ambush, the possibility of the Repenters already being here and just waiting to ambush whoever the Thremont Lords sent was a possibility. He had held a hand out in front of Ms. Pylar to indicate they shouldn't move forward, waiting for his familiar to finish a few scans of the area before proceeding.
The familiar had evidently found nothing of interest or importance for the moment, indicating to Katergi that it was safe to proceed. The two treked forward unimpeded, reaching one of the many doors on their side of the warehouse. Shaking the door, it became clear the thing was chained up and impassable... without some brute force or an illegal spell.
"Oh! I've got this!" Eden did a little excited jig, before stepping up to the area in front of the door. The same soft glow encased her hands as she traced the edge of the door, closest to the handle. With her hand still on it, a crystalline mass grew in the space between door and frame, causing quite the loud creaking as the metal was forcibly bent. Not subtle, but it'd have to do.
The mass was eventually able to grow past the door frame and to the chains. A mangled enough position was achieved that both could "open" the door, useless as a barrier it had now become, and they stepped inside. Sure enough, the place was filled with crates of something and indecipherable tags only someone with experience in the field of transportation could decode. No lights were on, and given its position beneath a sunless overpass, the place was practically pitch dark save for the spots directly beside the few windows it sported.
Having been the one that tested the door, Katergi had then stepped back to let her work her magic. Though he glanced ocassionally out of interest, he kept most of his attention on their surroundings. The screech of twisting metal made him wince, but it was better than what would have happened had he been the one to break in. Turning around and stepping into the unlit warehouse, he scanned the crates closest to the entrance, just barely visible from the ambient light coming in. "Odd..." he murmured as he looked further in, and though eventually things became impossible to see due to the darkness, this hardly looked to be an abandonned location. So why had their target chosen this location?
Reaching into his pocket he pulled free a cellphone and gave the device a shake, turning on its flashlight app. "Here, mind holding this?" Offering the device to Ms. Pylar, he expected her to take it as he stepped forward towards a crate. Taking the tag, it was evident that he had no idea how to even begin making sense of it. Nonetheless he tapped the frame of his glasses and squinted, causing the display to zoom in. Blinking, a picture was snapped before he dropped the tag in disinterest. A few moments later and a message had been sent back to Mr. Rattim with the picture attached; hopefully the man would be able to make more sense of it.
With that taken care of, Katergi reclaimed his cellphone and took a deep breath before he called out into the otherwise seemingly empty warehouse. "Former Repenter! The Thremont Lords have gotten your request. Show yourself!"
Each of their ears trained in on the silence within the warehouse, attempting to pick out even the slightest whisper of noise. The sudden and distinct sound of shuffling seemed all the more startling, then. A creak sounded right after. From behind a few crates, they could hear someone approaching, and as it stopped, they caught the faint glimmer of human eyes catching the poor lighting. The individual peeked around a crate before stepping out and approaching slowly.
"The Repenters wouldn't wear something like that," the individual, male, stated to himself as he got closer, as if to assure himself of the safety they presented. Still, they were from the Academies, and he was a former Repenter. Couldn't be too careful. Stepping into the greater light, Katergi and Eden finally saw his whole self.
A young man of black hair and a business-like complexion was apparently their target. He wore a higher-end formal attire and stood straight up, though his shifty eyes seemed far more frantic than his otherwise fancy and well-behaved appearance would indicate.
The man that stepped from the shadows didn't quite look like a man on the run, given his clothes, but the expression was much more fitting. Sizing their target up in that brief moment, he turned to Eden to ask in a low whisper, "Think you can handle him by yourself?" Now that the man was somewhat exposed, Katergi was more focused on making sure he wasn't killed and planned on standing sentry outside just in case.
"No one followed you? No I can't imagine you'd come if you were. Look you have to just listen quick and believe every word I say. No time." He looked shiftily side to side and to the windows before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small slip of paper.
Eden had responded with a slight nod to Katergi, knowing that she'd be able to restrain the rather mundane-looking man, should things come to that.
"Don't take too long then, we should get moving as fast as we can." With that, he made his way out of the warehouse, stepping past the pried apart doors. As he did so, a raging inferno formed before him, obscuring the man from view in a mix of color and smoke. From within, he stepped out but with a massive beast at his side now. Smoke drifted from its twin mouths with each breath, amber eyes smoldering from flames within. The two glanced about for a moment before stilling and holding their position. Soarus, still circling above, hadn't seen anything worth alerting him to, so Katergi wasn't too concerned.
The man fumbled to unwrap the neatly folded paper he held in his hands and passed it off quickly to Eden. He looked up as Katergi exited to the outside, figuring the man was the muscle of this duo. "Here, take this. It's got a password to the data files I've got stored on Cryptic's main site," he said to Eden before reaching into his pocket for another page, this time in the form of an entire pocket notebook. The lack of electronics was a clear indicator of his desire to remain off the grid.
"The files will do better to explain what I'm about to tell you, but be-" Eden was listening intently when something caught itself in her eyes, forcing them shut. A crunch preceeded. Quickly rubbing them, she lowered her hands to find blood coating them. Looking up, she found the informant undeniably dead and standing, his head utterly missing.
He hadn't been standing far enough that the sound of the man's voice cutting off went unnoticed. Whirling around, Orthrus sensed his owner's intent and a deep rumbling growl sounded. "Shit," cursing, he brought his firearm up and fired once into the darkness as he went to pull Eden out.The bullet caught something, ricocheting off of an unseen object just behind the now falling dead informant. A flash of metal appeared for a brief second as the bullet impacted before fading away. With practiced ease, he switched the revolver into its secondary mode of fire, and fired once more. Rather than a bullet, a brilliant laser lanced out, though he had no idea if it'd hit. Rather than ricocheting, the laser warped across a curved surface, though the power behind it was clearly far too much for the invisible object to handle. A ripple of light spread across the object before it shorted out.
Standing eight feet tall, the unseen object had become fully tangible; a robot of some sort, colored in blues and purples and bearing a bloodied and gore-splattered right hand. Realising it had lost its camoflauge, the robot lashed out quickly towards Katergi and Eden, talons raised.
Eden hardly had time to scream as she was coated in the gray matter of the informant, still holding the documents he had handed her. Blood stained her clothing, garments she'd worked hard for, and she felt as though she'd join the decapitated informant on the floor. Katergi burst into the warehouse, firing off his weapon and revealing the assailant. And it was one that only further stunned her.
A giant robot. A literal giant robot. She knew that if she didn't move and create a barrier, they'd meet a similar fate as the Repenter, but the blood on that hand...Eden simply couldn't move. "B...bl...oo..." She muttered out, bordering fainting.
He couldn't blame her for freezing up, she wasn't even bloodied, nor should she have been at her age. Grabbing her by the neckline of her clothes, he wrenched her away from the assassin and towards the warehouse entrance. "ORTHRUS! Protect her, light the area up! Soarus, fan the flames!" He didn't know if this was the only unit that had been sent here, but Katergi certainly wasn't about to risk his partner's life. The massive canine bounded over to the girl's side, tearing through what remained of the metal doors like paper sheets before promptly turning and bathing the entrance with twin gouts of blinding flame. Wingbeats could be heard from above as the avian descended closer to ground level, the wind left in its wake fanning the flames higher and higher.
His revolver was brought up on aim, and with a clear target to fire at, he didn't hesitate to unload all five remaining rounds into the robot, avoiding the more curved areas that'd likely just cause the bullets to slide off. His other hand was reaching for his other revolver, a spell already forming in his mind as he unholstered it.
The bullets hit the robot in perfect succession, its metallic chassis reeling from the heavy-hitting impact. Shards of its armor were sheared off each time, revealing further machinery underneath. Undefeated, however, it merely regained its composure and leapt to the side, up and onto an overhanging catwalk. Further into the darkness, even without its invisibility active the robot practically disappeared. Whether or not it planned to continue the assault was unclear, much less if it could engage its camoflauge again.
Taking the opportunity, Katergi reloaded the empty weapon as he backpedalled towards Orthrus and Eden. Bending down to scoop the shocked young lady under his arm, he laid her over the large beast as he scanned the area above. "Soarus, rip the roof off!" After that command, he hopped onto the canine's back and tapped its side. "Get us out." The flames that covered the entrance would have burnt Eden pretty badly, even with only a moment's exposure, but given the thin walls an exit would be easy enough to make.
As Orthrus began to move, Soarus provided the three of them with some cover in the form of its great wingbeats. Each movement caused sharp winds to rush out from it, tearing into the warehouse's thin metal ceiling. And with each passing moment, the wind only intensified, shearing, picking up, and throwing metal aside. A revolver was holstered as the hand was used to keep both him and Eden from being thrown off the charging beast.
The complex was quickly littered with sheet metal and caused quite the ruckus. Several pedestrians on the other side of the alley wall had gathered in confusion, unable to see over its height. A few were already well into calling Policus, fearful of some shady brawl going on in the warehouses. The car parked outside was looked over quite extensively by the citizens around, their minds no doubt assuming that the owner was a participant of whatever was transpiring on the other side. Hopefully the car would still be there by the time they returned to it.
As the rising smoke and ruined warehouse disappeared from view, Orthrus finally slowed down to a walk, shaking to rid itself of the pieces of fence that'd clung on. Katergi had kept a constant eye out for any signs of distortions in the air that might have given away the presence of another unit. Soarus had joined them after a few minutes, its flight allowing it to catch up despite the headstart the three had. With both familiars nearby, he'd relied on them to keep him and Eden safe while he contacted Mr. Rattim back at the Academy. Katergi doubt he would be pleased, given the main objective had been failed, but the old man was satisfied at having withdrawn with both him and his partner's life.
He debated momentarily on whether to retrieve his vehicle right now or simply write it off. The decision to simply abandon it came easily enough. Though he was far from well off, the monetary value of the vehicle was an acceptable loss compared to the risk posed with retrieving it. There could be more units prowling around the area, along with the Policus showing up soon enough. With a slightly bitter sigh, he nodded and Orthrus began to plod onwards back to the Academy.
_______________________________
The fast, jarring movements of Orthrus jostled Eden awake, out of her fainting spell. "Oh...my head…damn hard ground…" Eden muttered, her vision clearing to see Katergi making sure she didn't fly off of his magical two-headed fire wolf. At least, she assumed it was a fire wolf, seeing as she remembered fire for a brief second before blacking out. Wait...what made her black out again?
"Mr. Renwald...what happened?" The weary girl asked, confused.

"Oh, you're awake." He looked down at the weary girl even as he tapped Orthrus with his leg to cause it to slow down. An eyebrow climbed upwards and he looked thoughtful for a moment, considering how to answer her question. Before he said anything further though, he quickly plucked the blood stained documents from her hand now that she wasn't holding onto them in a death grip anymore. Hiding them out of view behind his back for the moment, he said, "We'll talk about that after we've reached the Academy, Ms. Pylar. The matter will be brought up during the debrief with Mr. Rattim." Pausing to consider that, he quickly amended what was said with, "Or at least before we meet with the man. Atop Orthrus is probably not the best place for the conversation."
She hardly noticed the documents being plucked out of her grasp. There was a feeling that she should have looked at them at the back of her mind, but she was too exhausted to acknowledge it. Eden simply nodded, silently agreeing to hear the explanation that her brain so kindly decided to hide from her. It was after a few moments of silence, save for Orthrus' running, that she had a sudden realization. "Oh, crap...I forgot to call in to work. Stella's gonna rip my head off…" Eden mumbled distantly to herself. The cafe manager was an agreeable lady most of the time, but with how often Eden had been missing work… it wasn't a fun thought. "How close to the Academy?" She decided to ask, just to gauge it.
Glad that she either hadn't noticed or didn't care, Katergi folded the pieces of paper and slipped them into a pocket before pulling out his cellphone. He held it forward towards Eden, a clear offer of use, though was paying more attention to her question evidently. While the creature couldn't move as fast as his car would have been, it was also unbound by the roads and able to take shortcuts through the suburban city. Despite that, there wasn't exactly a straight path from the warehouse back to the Academy, so the pair were going to take a bit longer to return. "Probably another 15 or 20 minutes."
Eden straightened herself up a bit, taking the cell with a slight smile and "Thanks". That wasn't bad, she'd be able to make it to the cafe to at least pick up the schedule for the week. Tapping in the number, she held it to her ear and greeted Stella when she answered. "Hey Stells, it's Eden…" was all she could get out before she was practically assaulted. "Wh-what do you mean you're worried sick? I've just been out on an Academy assignment, I meant to tell- what?" A pallor came to Eden's skin, not unlike that at the warehoue. "Bombing?" Apparently, up on the upper levels, things were boiling. "Stella, I gotta go, I'll be there soon, I promise!" Eden hung up, looking back to Katergi.
"Prime Hour Tower's been bombed." She relayed the news, which was apparently circulating now.

Despite being unable to make out the words, the concerned tone of Ms. Pylar's boss was unmistakable. It was a bit unexpected, he'd thought a verbal lashing would have been more appropriate given his 'partner's' reaction to making the call. Any sort of comment he'd been about to make died in his throat soon enough though, as he grit his teeth at the bit of news. As Orthrus burst from an alley, Katergi turned his head and, sure enough, in the far off distance smoke rose into the air from the inner city. Meeting her eyes, he nodded grimly and muttered, "So it has… hold on." Tapping his familiar's side, the creature understood his intent and muscles rippled underneath the skin. Throwing itself in motion, it sacrificed any notion of a comfortable ride for pure speed. "We'll be there in five," he mentioned through clenched teeth as he clung on.

Kheda'Ahn Garuda
Ninety Nine Ramp, Occam-Central Babylon District Border

Upon arriving at the protest site the crowd had grown exponentially since she had last seen them on the television. It was a passionate gathering as many citizens of the city voiced their opposition. Many held signs and chanted, while some talked amongst one another and continued live updates on social media. It felt nice to be amongst the numbers of concerned protestors, standing solidarity for justice and the truth. Her boss seemed to fall right in step with the protest, having bought them both some signs from another person within the crowd. Living in the city for over a year, for as far as she could remember, moments like these made her proud to be apart of the city, but good things in Neo Babylon never seemed to last.

Holding up her sign and shouting with the crowd a bright light near the Prime Hour Tower suddenly caught Kheda and the rest of the protestors attention. Once silence fell upon the group the building flickered with the bright light and in a deafening boom, exploded and collapsed. Heart racing and adrenaline pumping through her veins, Kheda could only watch silently in horror as giant plume of smoke engulfed the streets near the tower. As the building fell and the crowd fell into panic, the Policus suddenly surrounded them. She could have made an escape off the side of her bridge; The Wisps as her ride out of the area and out of the chaos, but as she saw Mr. Martel get swept up in the crowd only a few feet away from her, Kheda knew she couldn't just abandon him.

"Mr. Martel!" Calling his name and beginning to push through the mass of people, she grunted in frustration as she received a hard shove from behind. The corralling was becoming too much for the protestors alone, Policus instigating people with harsh language, and threats. In caution she kept her eyes on the officers and their weapons, all but a few keeping their finger on the trigger.

Kheda had never been in a situation like this before. If a riot were to break out and Policus were to open fire all hell would break loose, and with her boss and even children in the crowd, this only made things worse. "Mr. Martel! Where are you?" Thankful that she wasn't claustrophobic she felt another hard shove to her back, becoming even more squished against the other protestors. "Why are you doing this? We haven't done anything wrong!" Shouted a tall red haired woman beside her, a terrified child clutching her neck as the chaos ensued.

With the situation escalating Kheda searched the crowd meticulously until her gaze finally landed on Mr. Martel. Caught up along the edge of the crowd, she watched as the older man got in the face of one of the Policus. The crowds fearful cries, and terrified shouts drowned out their conversation, but it was clear tension was rising. Grabbed by the collar of his shirt she watched as Mr. Martel was shoved back into the crowd, an enraged look on the officers face. Blood running cold, green eyes widened in fear as she dreaded what was to come next, "Wait--Please!" She shouted desperately beginning to shove herself forcefully through the crowd. Only a few feet away from the officer wide eyes watched as he raised his gun at her boss, her breath hitching in her throat as terror filled her chest.

"No--Stop! Don't shoot!"

Armel reveled in the crowd as they grew more and more restless. The crowd booed and hissed and the officers kept them back, trying to break them up. It was a glorious sight. More people began to try to push back, and it seemed a full on riot could happen at any moment. It was just as he planned

He smirked as he looked out across the crowd, but something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye... A flash of crimson. No, flash was not the word to describe this. His smile faded and the light began to increase in intensity. He tried to shield his eyes, but he could not do so. His body wouldn't move. As the light reached its peak, he flinched at its brightness. He was blinded temporarily, just standing, unable to move.

At last his sight returned to him in time to see the last bit of the tower fall into the cloud of dust and debris that arose from where it once stood. His focus lost, his powers stopped, but that meant little. The crowd was in a panic, as were the soldiers. At last his daze was broken by Nechronica screaming on the com.

"Shit! Everyone! Hold fire! We are aiming to subdue, not kill! We need to bring in all these people for questioning! Now move your asses, and keep it together! Nechronica! I need you to keep the coms open. I need you to tell me what the hell is going on!"

Armel began to move along, as his men were trying to obey. Everyone was on edge, and things were easily getting out of hand. Armel used his magic to help as best he could in subduing the protesters. This was unlike him, but something told him, this was not a normal bombing. His instincts were clear on that.

He heard a scream over the crowd. Quite the feat in of itself. He looked in the direction to see an officer threatening a protester. "Hold your fire!" The officer wasn't listening though, he was scared and his instincts were taking over. "Hold your fire!!!" Armel began picking up speed, charging straight towards the officer. As he rammed him, a gunshot rang out, killing another protester standing beside the one he was aiming for. He dropped to the floor.

"I ordered you to hold your fire! We need them all alive for questioning!" He shoved the officer off. "Now get the hell back in line started detaining these protesters!"

He turns to a young girl. She seemed heavily distressed. "Madam, I am placing you under custody, for questioning. You can make my job a hell of a lot if you just submit now. You are coming one way or another however."

Act afraid... You're a young girl who just got sent a threatening message. Act like it. Make them want to protect you.

Felicia's small, pale hands trembled slightly as she stared up at the officers who just entered, and giving them a wan little smile she murmured her thanks. "Th... Thank you," her voice was soft and meek, the hint of the frightened young girl in her eyes also being heard. "I didn't know what to do..." For being the Policus, these were rather easy to convince - maybe because the fright had a grain of truth in it. Lies were always stronger when there was some truth hidden in them. Upon being faced with a small young lady who looked close to tears, men still had little to no idea what to do... And seeing a usually composed Felicia Bell look unhinged, even if she wasn't hysterical like most others at such a letter, was enough to unsettle them. The police officers took one look at her face and nodded, one stepping forward and asking questions.

"The brick was thrown over here, Miss Bell?" He asked for confirmation, surveying the broken window and looking outside. When he turned back, he looked just as perplexed as she felt. There was no way one could have thrown anything from that far, unless they could somehow fly. She brought forward the letter, holding it only at the edges with the tips of her fingers as another officer took a hold of it with gloved hands. Another had also took the other evidence, the brick.

"We'll be sending in the autonomous drones, Miss Bell. We hope this intrusion will not be too much of an inconvenience." At this, Felicia lowered her eyes, veiled by her lashes again, and pursed her lips. Inside she was not too keen on the idea of those machines anywhere near her place at all, much less scouring her home with those sensors. Those were sensitive enough to pick up on even the smallest trace of mana, and she had practiced some magic in here before, but she could explain that the ones she learned were for her own protection. She was more worried if those sensors could pick up her other power - she had already dispersed the feathers scattered around her penthouse and it was making her a bit edgy to feel so defenseless. Hence the small truth in being frightened.

The drones were let in, a low electronic buzz sounding from the machines as they hovered at just eye level with the officers who brought them. Felicia didn't know too much about the more complicated forms of technology in this world, but she knew enough not to interfere or let them sense anything was amiss.

Evenrue Seele
East Occam District

The two of them stood there in shock for but a moment, wrapped in an odd sort of silence as all passerby ceased moving and simply gazed.

Unlike those passerby, however, they had a job to do.

"Get in the car!" shouted Kirthun, swinging around the vehicle himself and throwing himself into the driver's seat. Evenrue herself was in her seat just as quickly, slamming the door shut beside her.

Clicking on their communication lines, they were bombarded with the frantic reports of hundreds if not thousands of officers city-wide announcing the attack. There were undoubtedly already countless streaming towards the bomb site already, but not knowing what else to do, the two followed suit. Evenrue pulled out a tablet, trying to make sense of the chaos, when she came upon a Policus-run system that might prove useful—a three-dimensional map of the city. It seemed that one of the coders back at HQ was making quick adjustments to the patrol-reporting system, allowing for Policus officers to claim areas for evacuation. Whether or not enough officers would be made aware of it in time for it to prove useful had yet to be seen, but at least it was a hint of controlled hope in this disaster.

As they sped towards the collapse site, dodging rail lines and other vehicles alike, she designated an area that they would cover before stowing the tablet. "The explosion was magic-based, obviously. I was unable to determine the caster, but I feel it's the result of a chain reaction of sorts." If not the start of one, she considered grimly.

"A minor disturbance," growled Kirthun, seemingly oblivious to his partners words. She glanced over at him, only to see tears streaming from a face torn between fury and horror.

Their vehicle swerved to a stop at a corner near the Eastern side of the Prime Hour Tower, down around a quarter of the way up the layers of Neo Babylon. Without the need for vocal coordination, the officer and his 'apprentice' exited the vehicle and rushed to the buildings on opposite sides of the street.

Running down the street, she muttered a quick spell to amplify her voice and then raised her right arm in the air, contorting it in a gesture that invoked a powerful white light. Drawing the attention of the public on the streets in this way, she called out directions. "Evacuate the area! Head down the streets quickly, vehicles take as many passengers as you can! Evacuate the area!" As she shouted, she also rushed to aid others in the evacuation, dropping children off with their parents or spreading the notice indoors.

She had no way of knowing if there would be any explosion—or collapse—but leaving as few civilians in the area as possible would at least allow the Policus to regain full control of the scene and properly deploy rescue efforts.

The column of fire that razed half the interior of the lobby burnt away the fabric of her clothes, reaching deep below the skin. After swallowing the light in her eyes and the vim in her figure, the flames disappeared almost in an instant just as when it had erupted, taking with it the lives of many more around her - save for one soul. When small electrical explosions began showering sparks down on the rest of the survivors amidst an incoming tide of dust and debris as the building's structure became compromised, Jin fell to the floor - pivoting his waist around as he enters a quick, desperate crouch with a skid or two before it.

Springing himself back up with one hand and shielding his face from the cinders threatening to engulf him, Jin broke out into a sprint with his back towards the eye of the blackening storm. Millions of thoughts raced through his head within the seconds that he began braving the chaos and falling darkness in front of him. Teeth ground against one another as images of the girl's charred corpse falling limp to the ground sought to damp his efforts to survive. The flames have already dried away any tears he might have spared for her and the others, giving away to igniting only a resolute fire in the pair of his eyes, fueled by horror nonetheless.

Many had already fallen to the shroud of ash and dust, either flickering out or no longer struggling to make sense of their deaths. He stepped over these with silent prayers in passing, but he was not willing to forsake those yet to follow behind. Running with the flow of the panicked bodies wishing to survive themselves, he disregarded their medley of screams and curses and pushed forward any he came across in his path instead of showing them aside, sliding each of his hands around their shoulders or necks and mustering his strength to even drag them forward by these if need be. Jin's eyes remained locked forward through the entire plight, forced shut once or twice from the falling dust and droplets of sweat cascading down his own forehead.

"Run and don't look back! Just go! Get away from those windows!" Jin would shout things along these lines whenever the pace of the frantic crowd was disturbed. It began to slowly mount on him that he had no idea where 'away' actually is, and the growing, searing pain eating through the cloth on his back and the smoke filling his lungs only served to torment him with this lack of epiphany. The moment he would regret not bothering to try to approach magic, embodied by the fog of dust that had begun to drown half of his body, a gust of wind roared past his shoulder and pushed the dust back. Jin looked up to see an older man lower an arm, the glow of the runes along his gauntlet dying down, and begin to shout instructions with a commanding presence. "That's..." his thoughts would be interrupted as the building continued to slant.

In the distance, there was a flicker that brought silence, then a low hum, and, slowly, grew into a shining wall.

A thin spear of light pierced through the murk, and Jin, ever moving forward, peered in the distance the mouth from which the injured and afraid, cloaked in dust and bruises, began to pour out into the world outside the Prime Hour tower, or more specifically the 'bazaar street' behind the tower filled with junctions connecting street-side shops of varying objects of interest and specialty cafes. Even more specifically, the very set of streets which have been cordoned off at each opposing ends to allow for a certain company to shoot the scenes they'd needed at the time. The dust threatened to fill the space but was kept at bay by the barriers, which allowed for the relief and clarity of sight the crowd needed to continue getting away from tower before it could collapse on top of their heads. The surviving people from inside the lobby began to flood these streets, toppling tables and chairs in their way and anything else, be they crude or crafted. At this point the crowd had fully entered a desperate stampede, utilizing every strength in their fiber, even magic, but this was beyond Jin's power to stop.

Amidst the cries of thanks and prayers from the escaped crowd, there were shouts of Policus bodies and medical wards from those who'd choose to break through the barriers to the left and the right and weather the settling cloud, but it fell on Jin's ears as mere faraway noise, melting away into the rest of the clamor. The same with excited claims of officers flying overhead and even one mention of the name 'Lovejoy', which had prompted a good number of the crowd to raise their chins and look upwards, to varying results, such as return mentions of the name 'Barenna' among others.

Back inside the building, dragging his feet as the curtain of light drew closer, once the space between bodies grew wider Jin let the persons whom he had clung to his arms free to continue at their own pace of feet. Not out of line with the rest of the survivors, one was no less distressed at the tragedy that had just occurred, wrapping his arms around his body from the need for feeling of safety while the other felt like taking to an open smile and tears streaming down his cheeks the moment he broke out onto the open streets.

Jin himself stepped out the space where the walls and windows would have originally been with a slight bend and over the small planted bush row with a bigger stride only to reel forward and start to cough violently. He wheezed for a second or two, not moving from his spot, before better air could replace the thin smog inside his lungs. The stinging weight on his chest washing over his face, Jin wiped away at the layer of dust coating it, and, refreshed the best he could possibly be in that kind of situation, turned his attention towards the final wave of survivors about to escape the Prime Hour tower's lobby.

When an injured boy much younger than himself began to emerge from within the darkness, helping a woman no better in shape to walk forward, Jin jumped back into the building without a second thought, paying but perhaps a single, painful glimpse to the image of the girl that had lost her life earlier.

"Just a bit further. Hang in there, you two." Jin told the pair, taking most of the woman's weight off of the boy's shoulders, whom tore away not even a single inch and continued steadfast with helping her get a move on. He did, however, let slip a sentence in between shortness of breath.

"There's another in there."

"Another?"

"He called out to me after the wind spell. But I couldn't... couldn't speak up. I couldn't turn back." the boy revealed, his voice drenched in fatigue and regret. In between breaths, he tried to start another sentence, but the dryness of his throat held the words back.

"Keep on going." Jin told the lad after they were finally a good feet away on the pavement and turned around a corner. "Find somebody that can help the both of you with those wounds. That comes first." he continued, letting go of the woman as he peered into the distance. Recognizing a face, he called out to the man whom had fired off the wind spell earlier. He seemed to be talking to a colleague when he noticed Jin calling out to him, asking for help. With haste, the two ran to where Jin, the boy and the woman stood. He turned one last time to the boy. "Wait too long and those cuts will get infected. I'll be quick. We'll meet back where the doctors are standing by. Alright?" Jin told the boy, wearing a reassuring smile on his face, before running past him and towards the building once again.

Before the boy could speak up further, the two men had already descended upon them. One paid Jin's running figure a good look, but decided not to speak on it after he'd taken note of the lad's and the woman's injuries. With the latter bordering on blacking out, they had no choice but to leave for immediate medical care right away. He took the woman and carried her in his arms, while his colleague did the same for the boy. They then left, as the Prime Hour tower lets out an ominous sound. Metal crunched against metal in a low screech, and black lightning bolts began to thunder all throughout the surface of the megalith, letting loose a rain of tiny shards through tens of floors.

The ceiling above the back opening began to quiver under the strain of the dying tower as Jin dove back into the fray.

He tried his best not to think of the things above him.

Seti had nodded his thanks to the officer at the city checkpoint, heading into the city with little more than a idle farewell to the officer beyond his thanks, having more concerns about the package humming in his vehicle than being nice right now. Of course he couldn't waste time, but he was stuck with the infernal machine trying to make him go the set speed. And as the package vibrated more, Seti quickly was already moving to the passenger seat, which was wise considering what happened next. With that thing expanding he didn't have much time to waste. With a brief word he blew the passenger door off its hinges, manipulating the metal to throw the door clean off without waiting for it to open, and as the car was telling him to escape he was way ahead of it already out the door.

Being that high up off the ground might have terrified some, but to Seti this was natural territory. He was grasping the wall, a minor exertion making a handhold and he quickly clambered away, clearing the growing sphere and taking cover from the resultant detonation. Rising from his cover he looked at what he delivered, debating whether he wanted to demand some hazard pay for the thing deploying in his trunk or not. What he was unaware of, noticing the second explosion in the distance, was a first responding Policus who caught a glimpse of the man overlooking the newest attack and the shot they got on him. While it was hardly perfect, it was not wasted on the system and quickly circulated to need to know persons amongst the Policus forces deployed that day. As Seti took off to investigate what happened next, he was unaware of quite the trouble he was getting into now.

Seti didn't take long to arrive at the Power Hour Tower, as much as saying that name got on his nerves ever so slightly. It was needlessly rhyming, at least, it seemed that way to him. That, and it was stuffed with new pop stars and other sensations of the day. While he wouldn't miss the building, he certainly had never wished ill on its occupants or the structure itself. He had a safe perch off at a distance, or he thought it was a safe distance, noting the activity and the fact at least one celeb seemed to make it out. Shocking, so much effort would be put in to saving her, but so little to the poor sods trapped inside with her.

"Halt! Hands where I can see them!" Nechronica aimed her RCW at Seti. She was flying in the air thanks to her Grav-Pack, which not only allowed her to fly but also to silently sneak up on him. "Move and I'll blow a hole clean through your chest." Nechronica had her finger on the trigger, ready to take the shot.

Seti quietly sighed, slowly raising his hands as the woman behind him talked on about blowing him to pieces or some such nonsense. Hole in chest, that would be tedious, certainly. What she didn't hear was, in fact, the incantation alongside another illegal spell he picked up, which was more so due to the terrain it effected rather than the actual effect. With his error power kicking in, such things wouldn't be heard, and the hand motion completed the spell, firing off a pillar of concrete and steel straight upwards, slamming the RCW clean out of her hands, and with a smirk, he turned around to face her. "So, what was that about putting a hole clean through my chest?"

Unexpectedly, the criminal somehow managed to shoot a spell off at her. He must be using some sort of illegal spell to be able to pull it off without her recognizing it. She managed to avoid getting hit by the pillar as it shot out of the ground, but her RCW was knocked out of her grasp. Even if she could catch it the pillar hit it with enough force to break it in half.

The first thing that Nechronica did was activate her Radar and Marked this man. He surely had something to do with the bombings if he tried to attack her. And though she didn't have her RCW, she still had her Electroshock pistol. "That's does it!" Nechronica shouted at the man and fired off two high powered electrical bolts at his center of mass while she was still in the air.

"Gah, no need to shout!" He feinted right before jerking hard left, another palmed hand motion and muttered incantation bringing up a low barrier to block the electrical bolts. He had no intention of hanging around now, and he made a hard run for it, making oddly no noise as he moved, dropping down towards a emergency fire escape, luring her along for now. Until that grav pack of hers was gone, he wasn't ever going to lose her. So, he had to string her along and draw her out, and slowly disarm her until he could get clear, hopefully, before she got a good hit in and dropped him.

Nechronica cursed as the criminal managed to evade her. His magic would allow him to play defensive, but even he couldn't fight for as long as Nechronica could keep shooting. Her pistol uses a Microfusion Breeder; all she needed was a minute to get a full battery. But even so, if she couldn't get a clean shot at this guy it wouldn't matter how many times she fired her pistol. When he went for the fire escape Nechronica stayed airborn but also skimmed the rooftops. She knew that on the ground level there would be plenty of places for the man to duck into, but with her Radar active there was no where he could truly hide. She just needed to stay on his trail and take a shot at him once he had no cover and wasn't in any postion to pull off any magical defence.

Nechronica continued to skim the rooftops using her Radar to track the criminal and the Trajectory Probability to calculate her odds to getting a clear shot.

Seti had to ground this annoying officer to even have a hope of outrunning her, but this was not something he could even consider doing, magic or not, not yet. She was even out of reach of magic right now, which was smart. He was dealing with someone intelligent then, which was both a relief and not, since it was a challange, but that meant he actually ran the real risk of being caught. He couldn't even assume he could outwait her ammo supply, some weapons recharged on their own, so that eliminated attrition of ranged combat. He needed to level the playing field, either clipping her wings or removing that ranged threat. Neither was going to be easy, that was clear.

Seti reckoned that her vantage would prevent him from really hiding, not aware of the mark on his person that let her follow him flawlessly, and chose an initial path that would lead away from the known Policus precints, which would include incoming additional responders, to help reduce possible reinforcements. Secondly, he was heading for industrial areas, lots of congested and narrow construction to help reduce her flight maneuverability, if she chased him that far, and increase his range of motion as well, since the pipes, ladders, and other components would let him move up and down almost as well as her backpack did, just not as efficient of course, or as fast really. He made his way into the urban jungle of a complex, half hoping she didn't follow and make this more difficult than it had to be.

The guy was fast for someone running on foot. Nechronica suspected that he was using some sort of body augmentation magic to increase his footspeed, but no matter how fast he was going Nechronica could keep chasing. The only thing he did right was make sure Nechronica could never get a clear shot at him, constantly ducking into tunnels, halls, or anything that made sure that there was something between him and Nechronica. She was starting to regret not taking her grenade launcher, if only so she could use the chemical clouds to choke him out. Alas, she'll have to make due with what she got and continued to chase him. No doubt he could run forever, but there was only so many places he could run and hide.

So of course he went to the only place where he could do that the most. The industrial district of the city; there were a few Policus Buildings here, but it was mostly factories and warehouses, and with all that commotion at Central Nechronica doubt there would be much backup here, if any at all. It started to make Nechornica think; what if this was a diversion? Big explosion to keep everyone's eyes off what really mattered? Than that made Nechronica want to know what was the whole purpose behind the bombings, what goal they fulfilled. This only made her want to capture this man even more; Nechronica didn't know the answer, but surely he did.

Still, the area made it increasingly more difficult for Nechronica to keep chasing the man. At least before the only refuge he had was hiding underneath an alcove or roof, and she at least knew where they opened up. Buts various pipes and gutted buildings dotted the Industrial sectore, giving the man plenty of places to take cover, and he likely knew this area better than Nechronica did. "That's it. I can't just keep chasing him. I have to take him down."

Soon Nechronica began to lower herself until she was also running after the man. Her Grav Pack was still weightless at her back, and should the man attempt to try to lose her over buildings or a deep hole or some such, she could easidly use her Grav Pack and retain air dominance. Additionally, using her Trajectory Probability and getting a full Radar of the map, she managed to chase the man down to a narrow corridor; there was no left or right for this man to dodge. Nechronica fired off ten shots from her pistols; they weren't strong enough to knock him out with a single hit, but even if just one of those grazed him he would feel a shock and numbness, which hopefully would slow him down. Nechronica aimed for legs, body, and a few feet in front of him. If the previous two shots don't connect, than perhaps he'll run into the third.

Seti had to commend the determined woman on his tail, she was keeping up real well, not relying on that flight of hers to keep up, having landed to keep chasing him rather than try to fly through the industrial zone. In reality, other than the possible link to the one explosion, he had nothing he could tell the woman, which he doubted she would have ever believed. Besides that, he didn't take kindly to people pointing weapons at him, so he would blame her for this whole chasing mess, which was hardly fair, but that hardly mattered. He knew these streets well, and combined with his experience running, made it look like he was boosting his abilities somehow. That wasn't his department of expertise, but illusions were powerful things.

He knew this alley appeared as lacking any sort of normal piping or escape paths for awhile, which meant she planned to drop him soon. This was not the most well thought out plan of his, but he really had no option now. While he waited for her to act, during the run, he had to admit all these explosions at once did not seem to be unrelated, and he was curious as to why he was contracted to move that sphere that ended up taking out another place right as another bomb, in another place completely, went off. It was too good to be true, and he would have to ask around, after losing this Policus woman. "Your stubborn, you know that? Could have avoided all this if you didn't go pointing guns at me!"

Glancing back, Seti saw her opening fire, and cursed as one of the bolts grazed his forearm, numbing his left hand and forearm, but he acted before any more rounds could connect. Left was no good to doge, nor was right, so he went up instead. Kicking off the wall, and a small boost from a created platform, he went straight up over the volley, another protrusion flying out for him to brace against, kicking off that to drive downwards to counter against the Policus woman, considering this self defense now. The strike was a feint, aiming to disarm her of the pistol and level the playing field a bit more.

If it worked, he would stand his ground and face off against the woman for the moment, to take advantage of catching his breath and her hopefully lack fo ranged weapons then. If not, well, he would have to start running again, but he would begin throwing up barriers and other things from his conjurations that would hopefully slow her enough to create distance for a better thought out counterstrike. He could ill afford to be stunned, or hit multiple times from the pistol, especially if his legs got hit, he would be crippled for running, and that would be game over, to say it lightly. It wasn't bad yet, but he had been hit, which was more than he wanted.

"This wouldn't happen if you didn't try to blow up the city!" Nechronica shouted back at him.

She expected the man to try to put up barriers, perhaps maybe even take a few hits and try to shrug it off (Nechronica was also assuming this man was an idiot, but that was just wishful thinking). Wall jumping up caught her off-guard, but not enough for her to drop her guard. When the man dived for her she fired one more shot at him during his decent and than activated her Grav Pack. She allowed herself to get hit, keeping a firm grip on her pistol and allowing herself to get knocked back. She had the range advantage and she aimed to keep it. She did hope this man intend to keep fighting; she was certain that she could defeat him, and the more he stayed to fight the less chance he had to run.

Nechronica also sent out a silent alert signal for any Policus near by to converge on her position, however given the state of the city and her own rather remote location, the best she could hope for is the Policus presence making the man surrender before she has to do something crazy.

Unfortunately for Nechronica, she only had 20% juice left in her pistol, and she was going to save that for a clear shot. Anything less than five percent wouldn't be enough to even catch his attention, more so if this guy was magically armored or something. But if he wanted to fight with magic, Nechronica was going to do the same. Sort of. She new only a few spells, but most of them made up for the fact that she wasn't a well-practiced spell casted. Her best spell was an Anti-Magic circle; at least ten feet in radius, anyone within couldn't cast magic and anything within couldn't be affected by magic. Only a faded rune-like pattern on the floor indicated that Nechronica had used any sort of spell; the fact that it wasn't very flashy suited her. And she put this rune underneath the man.

"This is your last chance to turn yourself in peacefully, otherwise I'm not going to promise your safety when this escalates." Nechronica of course wasn't really expecting him to do that. No one ever came peacefully. It's always "Resist arrest and than accuse them of brutality". Lots of people try to get a lawsuit out of that, but it never worked out. "If you're innocent than you have nothing to fear. But since you attacked me and ran off, I'm sure that you have something to do with today's events."

"I don't take well to having anyone point a gun at me, besides which, do you really think a bomber would walk towards his handiwork after you trigger happy goons show up? Nah, don't expect you to listen to a courier though, and I don't need to answer your last chance, do I?" Despite the situation, Seti was keeping that same easy smirk on his face as he gauged the situation, having moved himself more than just a few feet away, his whole left arm numb rather than just half of it, having taken another shot coming in. Yea, that backpack needed to go, and had to go now.

Seti quietly noticed he couldn't access his magic, and it didn't take a genius to put two and two together to realize what was going on. Clever, to say the least, and that left his primary tool out of reach, at the moment. Other men might have just given up at that point, but Seti wasn't one for quitting, and he really couldn't deal with the Policus using him as a scape goat for this, so he had no intention of being captured. "So, for being so grand and bold as defenders of the city, your awful quick to point guns at random people, and accuse them of terrorism after defending themselves, while ignoring the fact that fancy backpack unit could be used to save more than a celebrity or two for a publicity stunt."

Was it more idle talk from Seti? Sure, but if he moved, she would shoot, but if she went to shoot before then, he reckoned he had a good chance of avoiding it right now. And without the magic, that left them at a standoff at the moment, so he might as well see what he could get her to say, maybe, if wishful thinking had actually given him some incompetent Policus officer instead of her, incriminating blackmail material. He included the deliberate holes in his comments for a reason, the more she talked, the more time he had to think and plan. Perhaps the anti magic circle was short lived, and he could wait it out, or she would slip up and try to move too close to arrest him. Or shoot him, something that gave her action away so he could act accordingly. For now, though, he was biding his time and talking.

"Maybe you're just an idiot. You're certainly not innocent. We have your physical evidence and witnesses prior to your little car bomb stunt, 'Courier'. You're not just a 'Random' bystandard, just a psychopath trying to convince the world is insane."
If this talking was good for one thing, it allowed Nechronica's pistol to go back to max. Obviously just shooting at him, even with the Trajectory Probality active to help her line the shots, won't ensure a clean hit. So she was going to need to do something that required less aiming. "Flash!"

The moment she shouted that Nechronica pulled the trigger, but her gun didn't "Shoot". Instead, it used the electricity it would normally fire to shoot out a blinding light, one that not even covering your face and closing your eyes would stop against. It was usually a last resort thing should an officer lose his weapon to a criminal, as it effectively blinds everyone with optical lobes. But Nechronica didn't need her eyesight; that's what the Radar was for. She could have her eyes gouged out, but as long as she could maintain her Radar she could always see. Nechronica fired at least ten time, releasing ten painfully blinding flashes of light. It might give the courier a seizure, but Nechronica didn't exactly concern herself with that. Her head was dizzy from the flashes, but she could still detect the man with her Radar and was ready for him to try to run or charge.

"Part of being a courier my dear, is discretion. Never ask after packages, just make sure they get to their location and collect the pay. What I find more disturbing then bombings is the concept of Policus in general, a private force with no oversight that acts more like a paramilitary gang under the pretenses of justice then anything else. Sanity and insanity are relative, long as I make ends meet and can get a meal in my stomach and pay in the bank, I'm happy."
Seti wouldn't have had time to do anything with her shout, but after the first flash, he didn't have any choice but to stop playing nice, as it were. She would know something was really off, but he had little choice now, being physically blind.

Flashes wouldn't cause him to go into seizures, but the noise the pistol was making he collected, amplified, and released back onto the pistol, essentially causing a sonic shockwave to emanate from the weapon. It wouldn't cause the woman harm, but odds are, the pistol wouldn't survive in any usable condition. The noise probably wasn't pleasant either, considering it was ten electrical zaps amplified and layered over each other, from an audible stand point. Secondly, he needed to ground this birdie, but he couldn't do that right now, from the sounds emanating, it was durable enough he wasn't mucking with it right now. But, he could still feel his surroundings, each audio wave bouncing off the area, the acoustics providing a sort of sense like most bat creatures used, the reflected waves providing a map, each sound updating it, although it was hardly anything reliable or as effective as the Radar being used against him, it was something.

"If you'll excuse me now, I need to figure out who decided to try to blow me up. I don't take kindly to attempts on my well being."
Seti fully expected her to give chase, and he bolted, tempted to store the audio from each step as defense, but that would leave him unable to detect his surroundings. Right now, he would need to use whatever noise the Policus woman made to act right now, his own personal generated noise would be for navigating his surroundings. Operating blind wouldn't be easy, but even with however that blasted woman was tracking him, he was hoping that it wouldn't be as easy as visual confirmation.

He shouldn't have been able to do that. The Anti-Magical field would have stopped him, unless she was dealing with an Archmage or something. And she saw no weapons or other devices that would emit a sonic burst like what had happened. All Nechronica could hear was a sound buzzing noise, much like how her Electroshock Pistol would sound, but a thousand times more annoying. And constant. Worse still, Nechronica tried to fire off a few more rounds, but she felt no energy coursing through her weapon. That sonic attack must have been used to not only remove Nechronica's hearing, but also disable her weapon. She wasn't sure how effective it was on the Courier either, but Nechronica wasn't about to give up.

Since he gun was largely useless she decided to pitch it at the man. Even though she was blind her Trajectory Probability would still allow her to hit him dead in the back of the head, and it's not like he could see it fast enough to dodge it. But now that she was both blind and deaf, it was time to call in back up. "Call in all Poilcius officers this is Nechronica, Suspect of the Stret Col District and Prime Hour Tower bombing has just attacked and deafened me, currently in the Industrial District. He utilizes illegal magics and possible carries a sonic weapon. He has been traced and I will be giving you his locations now."

That last bit was a lie. Nechronica only knew where he would be at, and that was so long as he stayed within her effective Radar range. But he wouldn't know that, and it would make him panic. "There's no where for you to hide, Courier! No shadows to protect you or a place you could call home. At least the Policus could use their power to protect the people. How many lives have you saved? What good have you ever done for this city?"

Though most where at the locations of the bombing to secure the area, there was at least two flying Polcius cruisers converging on Nechornica's position, each carrying at least five Spec Ops Policus. With all these very blatant attacks in the city going on at once, they were to fight a war. But than again, when weren't they?

Seti took what victory he could from disabling the weapon and woman, but hardly had time to even move when the pistol, which barely made enough sound to detect, was thrown at him after not working in the slightest. It indeed caught him in the back of the head, and that hurt like no one's business, would have sent his vision cross eyed if he had any currently, and he could feel blood on the back of his head. One more injury to deal with later, he reckoned, but right now was hardly time for him to wonder and feel bad about the situation. That little message she had sent off certainly was unsettling, enough so, he had no intent on hanging around for them to arrive.

"I've got rather good at hiding and running, actually. And don't get so high on your horse there, every crackdown, every lockdown for 'the good of the public', every bust on arbitrary illegal magic claims, guess who suffers? Sure isn't the folks signing your paychecks, I can say that much. All the rich and mighty corporations, politicians, and media darlings don't either. No, its your average man suffering under the jackboot of supporting a military state. And could the Policus? Sure, but could is the vital word there, isn't it?"
Seti allowed the woman to hear his voice clearly through the noise, but left it there until the Policus reinforcements would arrive.

Seti didn't waste more than a minute, tops, speaking. He ran after that, each footstep pinging out in a sonar esq pattern in his mind, avoiding the strewn about debris and trash easily enough, despite the numb arm and bloody head, he was quick to, within about a minute or two tops, escape the range of her Radar, and vanish from detection, in effectiveness. In reality, he had, once outside range of the anti magic circle, opened a man shaped hole in the wall of an alley and stepped through into another pathway, and wormed his way around to Painstaker territory. He had contacts to reach, and medical help to get. He would have to sit under the radar for the time being, anyways.

Surely enough any small wounds the girl received would have been quickly healed by the mere presence of Rats. With that out of the, 'She looks...tasty.' Was the first thought coming to Youn's mind after getting a better look upon the stature that was standing there upon the debris. That alone seemed enough to let The Pack loose, to her surprise, one entity after another came forth from her body, quickly taking the shape of a fiendish Hellhound. Not just The Pack though, having given in to her twisted desires for just that moment also allowed Terror to act freely, while different intent, 8 of her Neverborn charged upon the four eyed enemy.

"STOP!" Carrying a strange kind of force in her voice, her minions who were just on the offense stopped in their tracks, with the exception of Terror actually making swift movement back onto the side of her Queen. The Pack shortly following after and, unlike Terror, fusing back into one. As tasty as the woman looked, it was Faust who told Youn if The Pack ate more than once a week they would just get fat and not be able to hunt anymore! Not to mention Youn was totally curious about this person, having 4 eyes and all! Taking another step forward, with Terror close following on her side, Youn first said to Terror. "Hey Hey Terror, you shouldn't just go attack your relatives!" With both of them having a white mask, at least that is what Youn thought Terror had, and more eyes than the young Error or any entity she had seen, there was surely some sort of connection! And did she just feel a mental facepalm coming from Faust? "Hey! Did you ride that train from the roof?! That must have been awesome!" She now tried to casually talk to the foreign being, not showing any hostility at all. "We have to try that too Faust." Youn added rather silent to herself; while talking wasn't required to communicate with her own Neverborn it was just something the girl simply did.

Elizia nodded, confirming to Irvin her ambitions. "Maybe so, but I've encountered those things twice already; the first time I almost lost a friend." The family was well aware of her exploits and adventure from her homeless life before. What they didn't know was a month after the first attack her friend went missing, last seen by the Ground Level sewers. Elizia feared it was another attack by the monsters; after all, they made no exceptions to the people who live in the streets. So maybe if she can get in this Cleaner's program, then she can get the proper training and go into the sewers to hopefully find her friend.

They all rushed in to the living room at Mabel's scream, expecting to see her having injured herself. Instead, they see Elizia's television showing a smoking building before switching to a news anchor.

"No way," Irvin mumbled "How did this happen?!"

"Dad?" asked Trent, taking one step closer to his father.

"Irvin, what is going on?" asked Elizia, also stepping closer to him.

Irvin's phone buzzed again and he barely had the chance to look read the message before it started to ring. "What? Yes, I am seeing this. It's on the news right now! You explain to me why this is happening," he growled at the person on the other end, his tone of voice so different from his previous persona. "This wasn't—"

It seemed whoever was on the other end had hung up as Irvin removed his phone from his ear, jaw hardening at whoever just called.

"I have to go," he said abruptly, spinning on his heels and grabbing his keys off the table.

"I'm coming with," said Caitlin, leaving Mabel's side.

"Mommy!" Mabel's cries drowned Irvin and Trent's protests.

"Would someone please explain to me what is going on?" asked Elizia, growing all the more frustrated at being kept in the dark. A spark of lightning crackled around her foot and Elizia could feel her arm tingling, as if the sword in her body wanted to come out. Both adults turned to her and it was Caitlin who first reached out, laying both hands on Elizia's shoulders. Whether it was some therapeutic magic from Caitlin, or the soothing touch similar to her own mother's, Elizia began to relax, the tingles in her arm fading.

Caitlin smiled at her. "I'm sorry, Elizia. Its family matters, so you can't know yet." Elizia didn't miss the emphasis Caitlin placed on the last word. Caitlin nodded at her husband before pulling Elizia into a hug. "We're going to leave Trent and Mabel with you for a while. That's okay, right?"

With that, Caitlin let go of Elizia and stood next to her husband. "We'll be back as soon as we can. Trent, Mabel, don't give Elizia a hard time okay?" she announced to her children.

"What? Mom, Dad, where are you going? What just happened?" Trent took a few more steps toward them only to be stopped by an invisible shield.

"Just stay here for now," said Irvin. Elizia could see the remnants of his magic as he maintained the shield. He looked straight at her. I'll tell you what I meant to say another time. For now, can I count on you? he seemed to say through an exchange of words heard only by them. Elizia nodded as the couple walked out the door and left the three of them behind.

Laina Horello and Youn - Ground Floor, Central Babylon

Her name was called, and wishing to rid herself of the sight of Zael's body, Laina answered it with an instant zip across dozens of miles to the caller's location. They could speak her name, and so they must be alive at the very least. There was a chance she could save someone. Appearing at the new location, Laina found herself amidst a dispersing cloud of smoke and ash. Behind the thick veil she could see and feel the heat of a billowing inferno a number of yards away.

At her feet lay the rustled form of another small boy, and with a few seconds of scanning over him through the dust that clung to his face and clothes, she identified him as Orie Nemertine, another orphan of Toland's, as it so happened. His reasoning for being in Central Babylon were unknown and unimportant; what mattered then was getting the boy out of the hellhole. The occasional moan of some massive structure indicated to Laina time was of the essence.

Something caught her ear, however. Amidst the boy's coughing, she heard the voice of what seemed to be a young girl. The conversation, between whoever it was, did not seem fitting for the environment.

"Hey! Did you ride that train from the roof?! That must have been awesome!"

As the dust suddenly, Laina could see the culprits; indeed it was a young girl, speaking up rather gleefully to some other individual standing atop rubble. Youn's words were left unanswered except by the slow approach of the entity. Stepping down from its hilly wreckage, the unknown individual walked up to Youn with bare feet, seemingly uncaring of the rubble strewn about.

Silently it came up to the girl, stopping mere inches from her and staring down at the young Error. With an apparent curiosity, its masked visage scanned over Youn slowly before its attention was directed down the street.

From a curtain of smoke, two figures approached, clad in black and bearing helmets with a single red circle painted on their chest-plates.

Volkov - Sewers

The robot could not express its emotions with a stagnant facial design, but as his gaze met the red-haired girl's in perfect synchronicity, it was clear both were quite confused. The girl rose an eyebrow and lifted her lip in what seemed like disgust before sighing and speaking for the two of them.

"Your home? I don't think so. More like your hiding place," she said. Behind, the blonde girl appeared to take the opportunity of their distraction and made a step backwards before the robot immediately turned its head, catching her before she could move further. She stopped in place. The red-haired girl paid no mind. "This is none of your concern retard. Enough of your weird metaphors!"

"You! Help me!" the blonde girl cried out, just as the other raised her blade, swinging it for Volkov's torso. A notable heat brushed itself across his skin long before the blade could even make contact.

Felicia Bell - Home

"You ever see a pencil print with this kind of font?" one of the officers asked, handing the letter over. Reading it next, the other officer scratched their head and shook their head.

"I know magically-conducted writing tends to be more fancy. Cursive or some sort. That's what the Thremont kids are always writing like anyways. This is..." he paused, "robotic, maybe?" The first officer nodded.

"Makes sense to me." The two spoke to one another, slightly away from Felicia as the drones zipped about. One of them beeped and unleashed a red wave of light over some particular corner of her house before beeping again. A tiny mechanical claw dropped out of the bottom of its chassis, reaching out and picking up a feather on the ground.

"Probably an android maybe-" the officer was interrupted by the drone beeping at him and displaying a soft feather in its claw. The officer rose and eyebrow, picking the feather with two fingers... before blowing it away and returning to his conversation. The drone continued on its way.

"Well Miss Felicia," one of them said, raising their arms, "the most we can tell you is that you've got some sort of deranged stalker. Do you have any sort of personal guard? You might want to tighten security for a little bit. Until then we'll help you however we can."

"We'll leave one of our drones with you in your house, if you're fine with it," the other began, reaching into a large side-pack, "This one will be moreso for keeping watch on your house's surroundings, though." Pulling out a chrome-colored box of metal and setting it down on the ground, it began to stir. Four legs popped out before a circular disk rose up a few centimeters from its center. A single red eye underneath the disk swiveled about before the robot made its way to the door, seemingly already well aware of its duty.

"It's got a few lethal and non-lethal systems to it. If anyone continues to bother you, it should pick them up. Anything else you ne-" his voice was cut off by the frantic voices coming from his partner's communication device. While he attended to the demands on the phone line, the other turned back to Felicia and continued.

"Anything else you need?"

Seti Kelon - Layer 1, the Carnarium

Layer One of Neo Babylon was not a particularly well-patrolled area for the Policus on its own, but there were few places within it that an officer would avoid at all costs. The Carnarium was one such place.

A haven for the wicked and ambitious, the hedonistic and devious, the Carnarium had become a practically lawless region of the Layer 1, situated in the heart of Neo Babylon's Kell District. Underneath a massive domed and lopsided structure, the Carnarium was a stratified set of buildings containing shady businesses and "unoccupied" establishments, which were, in the end, merely places for squatters to stay. Coursing within its streets and walls, a population of criminals made their mark and offered their services, if any.

Seti Kleon entered the Carnarium as many normally did; through a sewer pipe. A set of concrete and heavily damaged stairs led right up to the pipe, which wasn't so strange for those familiar with the place. Here he'd be 'safe' more or less, at the very least away from the persistent efforts of the Policus. There were, of course, other entities present here he did have to worry about nevertheless. They were more familiar, at least.

The Carnarium possessed a strangely well-kept hospital in its ranks, offering paid medical help to anyone and everyone who had the credits to pay for whatever mishaps they'd gotten themselves into. Thanks to the Arcane Decree's laws, easy magical regeneration of body parts was forbidden given the ease at which one could achieve immortality through its usage, one way or another. For the time being, physical medical profession were still in business. The wounds Seti had received wouldn't cost him too much and would likely be quick, so he made his way there first.

Passing by utterly disinterested eyes , Seti walked down the streets towards a dozen-story building with a large neon plus sign glowing at its peak. Amidst apathetic citizens, Seti eventually caught the subtle feeling of someone staring him down.

"Seti," someone had called out cheerily as he continued walking, "What's going on man?" A small figure trotted up alongside him, keeping pace. It was a young woman, dressed quite neatly and appropriately for the present populace. Ina Cerbress was her name, a fellow Painstaker he'd come across several times in the last year. She wasn't notable for much, but she'd participated in some larger tutoring events alongside Seti. He knew her only in name. Still, she seemed quite fond of him, for whatever reason.

"What happened?" she asked, still cheerful, "You hear about the new bombing in Central?"

Kheda & Armel - 99 Ramp, Occam-Central Babylon District Border

The single shot was all it had taken at that point. As Kheda's boss was shot point-blank into his chest, his body falling, the crowd burst into pure havoc. Civilians dispersed about the ramp like a trail of ants that had just had a gust of wind blown on them. Their directions were erratic and haphazard, knocking over each other and stunned Policus officers alike. Their sheer size was enough to overcome the officers in front of the barriers, and they were promptly pummeled by endless hands and feet. Others simply stayed put, terrified of going up against the force, bumped to and fro by the tides of bodies.

Kheda was faced with seemingly few options; arrest or a dive off the edge of a streetway hundreds of feet in the air. She had her Wisps at her disposal, but the air was far from protected and she was a prime target for gunfire. Her wisps weren't exactly commonplace, and their appearance would certainly elicit suspicion as being illegally made.

Armel was in the midst of apprehending her when a voice called out to her. It was distinct, clear, and calm, as if it were materializing in her thoughts itself.

Kheda'Ahn Garuda. Listen to me. You must jump off the right end of the ramp. Your right. You must trust me. I need you help and you need to escape. Jump now!

Sparkle Bell Lovejoy - Field Hospital, Central Babylon

While still growing, the field hospital was already quite large, made up of easily dispatched medical vehicles unfolding into tents and rooms. A majority of those present at the time were simply those who had suffered from mild scratches and a heavy dose of airborne debris. Stretchers came in as a stream, carrying hidden bodies that Sparkle couldn't identify as alive or dead.

With Barry in tow, she made her way to a set of benches set alongside an ambulance and sat him down. Their injuries and trouble were mild, and through the practiced art of triage, they were ignored. Others had more pressing things to be attended to.

As Sparkle looked about, she noticed a familiar face seated in an open tent; Barenna sat on a small folding stool in the tent, the side of her head bleeding significantly. A breathing mask was wrapped around her chin and she took in visibly distressed breaths. A nurse was in the midst of applying a stack of gauze to her forehead. She didn't seem to notice Sparkle yet.

Elizia - Home

Trent looked flustered, dejected at having been held behind by his own parents. The house was left quiet for a moment, door still wide open, with only the distant buzz of a news anchor speaking about the events in Central Babylon continuing on.

The click of shoes on cement loomed closer to their home, then, and Elizia saw, through a window pointing out to her front porch, a strange man walking down the way... towards her door. He stopped there, under the open port, and turned to look inside. He was tired looking but nevertheless seemed alert. He moved with purpose and his eyes were piercing, despite their lulled state.

"Elizia, I presume?" he asked, stepping into the home without permission. Despite his enigmatic appearance, his voice seemed friendly enough. His attire looked like that of a detective, and so for the moment, he seemed safe. Still, he hadn't yet pulled out a badge of any sort. The man kept his distance, careful not to be too intruding.

Jhanuis Bedniv - Prime Hour Tower

An entire portion of the floor had been vacated of structural support, with the rest of it covered in a loose collection of embers still clinging to whatever flammable substance had sprayed itself on the surface. With each passing few seconds, the frequency of groans in the building increased, and a few times Jhanuis could have sworn he saw the ceiling bend.

Small flecks of paint and dust occasionally fell on his shoulders and hair, and once or twice a bolt of black lightning struck some still-standing machine within his vision. Within the carnage he could see the figures of those who had already fallen. With a still burning vision amidst the ash that continued to churn out, he searched for the individual his prior rescue had spoken of.

There. Crawling on hands and knees, a young man was attempting to escape... in the wrong direction. It was clear he could neither see very well nor move particularly fast. It was likely he had suffered from a crippled leg, or a severely pained one. He coughed incessantly and his eyes were half shut, tearing up in huge bouts of water.

Weak calls to anyone at all could barely be discerned as the structure's moaning peaked.

Koi Ross - Layer 2

Any semblance of distress had vanished upon Koi Ross landing upon a sidewalk at Level 107. A few curious glances caught her, staring at the hover pack she'd used to fly about. Her attire and demeanor didn't reflect a Policus officer, so the possession of such a thing was at the very least novel. Plenty had them, but few actively used such technology.

As she began walking, the news of the city's most recent events had caught her ear through televisions blaring inside businesses with open doors. Another bombing, a collapsed building, dead civilians. Having just gotten past a prior moment of duress, such important and disheartening news was moreso distressing.

As she proceeded on, headed towards whatever daily activities she normally did, Koi was interrupted by yet another brief vision. As she bumped into a passing pedestrian, the future sight clouded her vision from anything but.

She was seeing through person she had just bumped, clearly, and they turned around to watch as Koi walked away; she could identify the jetpack on her back any day. But a second of normalcy in the vision was offered before things took a turn for the worse. Koi, herself, was suddenly assaulted by a projectile of some sort which split into a large mesh of wire a foot from her body. Flying in from her right, it came from an unknown firer. Caught completely unawares, she was entangled by the trap.

Koi came to from the vision and turned to see the individual she had just bumped also turning to face her.

Katergi & Eden - Stret Col Thremont Academy, Rattim's Office

"Well," Rattim began, sighing heavily and leaning back, "If we had access to these files a day earlier we might have avoided this issue." He was, of course, referring to the bombing. He grasped his face and shook it with disappointment. His two students had nothing to be ashamed of, but it was surely disheartening to know that there was an inkling of hope that one could have averted a crisis.

"This does, however, mean we'll be spending a lot more time investigating the Repenters." Rattim turned his computer screen towards Eden and Katergi, revealing what had been stored in the data files their now-dead liaison was hiding. On screen a list of documents numbering in the dozens wrote about some "Project Record Breaker". The information was far too detailed and jumbled to make any sense of it before Rattim returned his screen to its normal position.

"Looks like our deceased whistle-blower secured some information on this project those kooks were cooking up. Too bad we were a bit late in stopping..." Rattim squinted at the screen, "...Stage Two of this Project Record Breaker. I'll have some of the faculty and my friends look this over, get things sorted out. Good job securing this information you two," he said.

"Oh, and don't feel too bad about the results. We couldn't have done much more for him or for Central. You did your best."

Nechronica - At the site of the Arcane Anomaly, Ruruen District

Nechronica's request was ultimately shot down by a rather stern voice. The man on the other line, a certain Warden Jerces as he identified himself, practically yelled at Nechronica.

"Negative Junior Officer Nechronica. You just wandered off into my District, and Occam East has just told me you darted off without permission by your superiors. Your pursuit of the suspect is to be halted. HQ has said he's just a courier if anything. Occam East has handed you off to my control for the time being, since you've been gracious enough to stop by." There was a pause, and the yelling picked up.

"You're to find your way to the coordinates I'm sending you now and aid in dispelling civilian traffic and aiding in setup. The Magus Division has got their hands full at the site. Hurry your ass over there." His voice ended. Nechronica's Policus-owned PDA received a small set of coordinates leading her to the very place in which Seti had initially fled from.

The scene was a mess. Floating in the sky, dozens of feet above the nearest sidewalk, an enormous block of glowing magical energy rested silently. Its mass was expanding ever so slowly, though it was clear the thing, whatever it was, would not halt in its growth. The block had already started cutting into the sides of buildings just by virtue of being present; its surface seemed to vaporize whatever it touched. A number of Magus Policus were on the scene, conducting god-knew-what procedures about the place to get an understanding of what they were dealing with.

Civilians were pushed away on the sidewalk, keeping them a number of yards away from the ensuing investigation. Nechronica was beckoned over by an officer, who promptly had her begin work on putting up an opaque fence to surround the scene.

Seti's vision had recovered to the point that, by the time he reached the Carnarium, he didn't need the sonar effect to see where he was going safely, even if color was spotty. The route he had taken to get back was more cautious than he normally would indulge, but considering what he was running from this time, it was warranted. But, knowing the Carnarium and its reputation amongst the authorities, he was safe from them here. Safe period? Absolutely not, but the danger known was preferable to the danger unknown. Besides, no matter how rich he made it, he was probably going to live the rest of his days down here, it was far too familiar now to work out any other way. All the people who didn't have the demeanor, money, or qualities to thrive with all those pretty, perfect lives above ended up down here in the gutter and sewer of the city, and applied what talents they had to make ends meet here. One such place, the medical clinic, was his destination now. He needed to get his vision patched up the rest of the way, and the head injury looked at. The stun pistol hits were wearing off, which made him feel even more sore, but that was neither here nor there on top of everything else.

The cheerful voice caught Seti's attention, and he gave the young lady a pleasant smile while his mind placed a name to the face. Ina Cerbress, fellow Painstaker, participated in some of the broader tutoring sessions he had taken part of as well, knew her by name but little else. She always struck Seti as being far too fond of him for her own good, but that didn't prevent him from being nice or anything to her. He wouldn't control how others may feel about him, couldn't and wouldn't. But his tone was pleasant and polite for the situation he had just fled from, which would have been normal for what little he had dealt with her over the past year. "Ah, Ina, its always a pleasure. Work took me a bit too close to the incident, to say the least, and got banged up, so I'm going to get patched up and start some digging to keep myself busy for the time being. Welcome to tag along for the time being, probably won't be too interesting though."

Seti hadn't directly lied to the woman, he tended to avoid telling direct lies to anyone for that matter, they were far too easy to unravel if someone had the mindset to do so. Especially amongst the Painstakers he associated with. Hiding grains of truth in his words made things not only more believable, but they were no longer deceptions of the easily notable sort, and could easily be argued as not being intended deceptions at all. While he walked, but before he arrived at the clinic and began getting the aid he needed, he did ask her a question in return, keeping to an easy going and pleasant tone. "How 'bout yourself lass, what have you heard about what's going on this time?"

Sparkle was sitting with Barry, listening to her own music when she looked up and saw Barenna. Sparkle didn't know what to do at that moment. Sure she and Barenna didn't get along all the time, it was mostly Barenna's attitude that did it; but Sparkle looked up to Barenna like an older sister. "Barry there's Barenna...she looks really bad. Do you think I should go over and say something? You know to help her stay calm." Sparkle looked at Barry with her big blue deer eyes, still in shock of the whole thing he just sat there. "Thanks for the advice Barry..." Sparkle just rolled her eyes at him. She gave a deep breath and got the courage up to go over to Barenna. She waited until the nurse was finished. All Sparkle could do was wave nervously at Barenna. She didn't know whether to sit down next to her or run back to Barry. It was to late now, Barenna had spotted her. "Hey Ren, how are you feeling?" Really! As soon as she said that Sparkle knew that saying "how are you feeling" was dumb. The girl's head was bleeding and she could barely breath. How the hell do you think she's feeling? Sparkle had to urge up the courage that she did have right there to not run off. Sparkle sat right next to Barenna and held her hand, in a way of "I'm here for you no matter what happens next." Sparkle gave Barenna her legendary innocent smile.

Kheda'Ahn Garuda

Ninety Nine Ramp, Occam-Central Babylon District Border
x

In a split second chaos erupted around Kheda sending her into immediate shock. The gunshot rang out and echoed in her ears leaving a shrill buzz in the back of her head as she watched Mr. Martel drop to the floor. What felt like an eternity was only mere seconds as emotions suddenly flooded her chest. Anguish, guilt, and rage consumed her. Coming to the protest itself had been a risk, but Mr. Martel didn't deserve to be shot--He didn't deserve to be another civilian killed by trigger-happy Policus.

The anger that swelled in her chest lifted to her eyes as her green hues flickered like a flame, and glowed brightly in response. Clenching her teeth as tears slid down her cheeks her gaze fell onto the older looking Officer, the one that had caused Mr. Martel to be shot. "Madam, I am placing you under custody, for questioning. You can make my job a hell of a lot easier if you just submit now. You are coming one way or another however." Eyes narrowing, her upper lip curled into a snarl, nose scrunching in anger. Slowly raising her hand to the ponytail constricting her hair, ready to activate her wisps and burn a hole straight through the mans chest, a sudden voice brought her malicious thoughts to an end.

"Kheda'Ahn Garuda. Listen to me. You must jump off the right end of the ramp. Your right. You must trust me. I need your help and you need to escape. Jump now!"

The voices instructions and influence were enough to break her out of her original intentions, but not without earning a frustrated cry in response. Pulling the hair tie out with a tug her long pink locks fell to her back, the wisps activating as five thin, glowing strands fell from her hair. Without a second to lose the wisps erupted in a bright flash giving Kheda limited cover as she rushed forward and shoved past the officer into the mass of people.

Killing another person went against her moral code, and no matter the resentment she held for the man now, she wasn't about to stoop down to Policus' level. Instead, she would put her efforts elsewhere. The Wisps darted through the crowd freely in their orb shape, staying in step with Kheda as they slipped through legs and narrowly evaded being stepped on. Acting on her wimp, the wisps flashed with energy and shot through the weapons of the Policus, disarming each officer they came across by leaving large melted holes through the barrels of their guns.

Only a few feet away from the right side guardrail, the hair on her arms and the back of her neck stood. Here we go! Adrenaline running pumping her veins, Kheda silenced her nerves with a sharp breath before leaping from the edge of the highway. Wind whipped at her face now, her body free falling past windows and streets as she tried to straighten herself out. Twisting her body in the air until her feet faced the ground, the Wisps shot from the street to her aid. A trail of light followed behind their spherical shapes as they soon came to circle Kheda protectively. "Shit--Come on!" Waving her left hand out the wisps beckoned to her call as a single orb stretched its shape into an thin oval disc.

Catching the edge of the disc with her hand she pulled the wisps beneath her feet, the roof of another building coming closer and closer with each passing second. So with a desperate grunt she fought against the momentum of her fall and pulled the disc into a slanted position, energy pumping out of the disc like a burning flame. Sweat beaded down her forehead in concentration, and as her shape finally came to slow stop just inches from the rooftop, the disc shot her back up with great speed.

A streak of green light trailed behind her lithe shape as she soared over the highway now. "W-who is this?" She asked still trying to catch her breath and calm herself down, "How do you know my name?" Surveying the panicking crowd and looking for the source of the voice, the sound of gunfire below forced her attention as bullets soared past her head, and ricocheted off the bottom of the disc. Clicking her tongue in frustration she crouched low on the disc, the shape lengthened out like a board as she shot forward, a trail of bullets following behind her.

She couldn't stay in the air for long, not with the Policus still armed and their sights on her. "Tell me--Why do you need my help, are you caught in the crowd?" Soaring down the street and gaining some distance from the Policus her sights landed on the destroyed tower ahead, a dreadful feeling churning in the pit of her gut as she drew near the concrete floor, "Did you.. did you do this?"

Nechronica didn't like the news. "Just a courier? That rotten bastard attacked me! Like hell he's just a courier!" She said only to herself. By now the deafening effect of the courier's attack was starting to fade, however she still couldn't see anything beyond a bright light right now. She would manage to get by with her Radar however, and remained where she was until the Policus picked her up. They helped her work out her injuries and did something or the blindness, so that by the time she would get to Ruruen District she would be ready to get back into action.

Still, before that would happen there was a good thirty minute ride, even by air. People were getting evacuated on various emergency transport, either the injured from the Prime Hour Tower station or people smart enough to get the hell away from that Arcane Anomaly. Nechronica used this opportunity to expand her Radar to cover the city again so she could get an update on what's going on around her.

Back at the sight of the original riot, things have taken turn for the worse. The Policus were absolutely overrun by the protestors and from the gunshots, someone decided to take matters into their own hands. Nechronica couldn't fault them; she was suppose to be the one who would give the clerance to open fire, and she left them to fend for themselves. She found Armel in the crowd trying and failing to contain the rioters, but what caught her interest was the girl who had simply jumped off the side of the railing. Nechronica figured the girl had a means of escape, and indeed she did when she used some sort of solidified light to save her from both the unforgiving concrete and policus trying to shoot her out of the air. Nechronica off-handily thought that she could have made the shot even if the girl was maneuvering with the help of her magic, but either way Nechronica Marked her. She may play a vital role later, more so when the girl got closer to the Prime Hour Tower.

While Nechronica would look into the girl later, she decided to check back on her favorite idol. Using Satellite, Nechronica projected her mind right at the scene; though no one could see or interact with her, it was as though she was really there. And it was really loud. Policus had sent in hazard mechs to try to help evacuate those inside the building still, taking people out two to three people at a time. Some were injured, a few of them dead. Nechronica wondered how many people were going to blame the Policus for this too. She's very much aware of their status as public enemy due to many of their officers misusing and abusing their powers, and with regular reporting of policus officers getting killed, there was nothing to stop the on going hostilities between the Policus and pretty much anyone who would have a problem with them. Which as far as Nechornica cared to consider, was just about everyone. She turned away from these bleak thoughts to find Sparks amongst the masses. When Nechornica found her, she also Marked her. It may seem a bit obsessive, but who knows, if something happens to Sparkles Nechornica wanted to be the first to respond. Sparks was sitting next to an injured Barenna. Nechornica had heard of her, but doesn't really follow her. Still, Spark's was kind enough to console Barenna, and seeing her smile Nechronica couldn't help but feel that maybe today wasn't too bad. At least she still had Sparks.

About ten more minutes before Nechronica would arrive to the location of the anomaly. She used her Satellite to look past the black barrier around it and see if there was some sort of core cause of it all. What she saw was what looked like book pages. A bunch of semi-translucent book pages. Spells obviously, but what kind? Nechronica got a closer look. It was... Strange. At first she was getting a string of body augmentation spells, but than it changed to auditory type spells. Than it only continued to change erratically, with very little sense of pattern of rhythm. All she could really get from it was that for each page it took, the circle was slowly growing bigger. Also, each spell added, though similar to other, were subtly different. They were going too fast for her to make out the subtleties exactly, but regardless it was never the same spell from before, though she doesn't know how many spells have already gone into the core to know just how many times it may be repeating itself. Which only made her want to capture that courier even more; intentionally involved or not, he was the one who picked up this package, and he should know where or whom it's from. This entire mess reeked of Pain Taker involvement; only they would take the risk of destroying the entire city for something they don't know. Than again Nechornica wasn't exactly sure what this anomaly does either. But it's unlikely to be for the betterment of mankind.

Once they arrived at the scene Nechronica was already starting to make plans and preparations to leave. It's not that she doubted the Magus Policus ability to discern what the cause of anomaly was, but in the event that they can't or are too late, Nechronica was prepared for the worse. And with how this day has been going, the worse was about to happen. "It's my party house, and we're about to party up! Don't let the music stop it's a party house. Party party party, don't let it ever stop! I want to party till the world freaking stops!" Nechronica sang to herself as she put up the fencing.

Collab with Dusk and Zombehs
Eden cleans up, the two stroll to the gate, and Katergi is whisked off to fight stuff.
After the debriefing, Eden asked to take a moment to head to the restroom and...spruce up, to say it lightly. Blood was a bitch of a stain, after all. Nothing like the mental stain it left, though. As she looked in the mirror, dark red streaks on her face, her mind twisted and turned, almost making her sick. She'd had her refresher on the events of the warehouse, and she understood why her brain tried to bury it. The debriefing, however, made it all the more clear that things were going to get much, much worse.

With a few quick splashes of water, the dried blood was off her face and out of her hair, for the most part. Her clothes were another matter entirely, but she couldn't do anything about that as it stood. Eden stepped out of the Academy restroom and made her way to the outside of Lord Rattim's office to wait for Katergi, whom she at least hoped would have something to say about the madness.

Holding back a sigh as the debriefing finished and Eden left the room to clean up, Katergi stood up to leave as well. Pausing at the gesture from Rattim as the door clicked shut, he thought the man might have had another job in the wake of what had happened. As it turned out though, it was just a few words of advice and he took them with a nod. Slipping out his cell phone as he made to exit, a quick text was sent to a few of his contacts by the time he'd left the man's office.

As he stepped out, letting a quiet sigh escape at the mission's outcome, he took note of Eden returning. Though the gore had been washed off, the stains still painted a fairly clear picture of what had happened. Running a hand through his hair he approached her, leaning forward a bit to get on level, before asking, "Want to talk? Doesn't matter about what, but it helps sometimes."

Eden gave a weak smile to Katergi, nodding slightly. "Yeah...I'd like that." She rolled her neck, popping it slightly. "That was a hell of a ride over here." Eden remarked, actually curious about her partner's pets...or familiars...or whatever they were called. She hadn't seen summoning or conjuring that powerful, so it was only natural that her inherent curiosity would take over. "Where'd you pick up your friends, if you don't mind me asking?"
Leading on at a casual pace, he nodded in agreement but otherwise remained silent and let her steer the conversation. Looking thoughtful as he wondered on how to answer, it didn't take long for him to drum up the same story he'd told many others. "No where in particular. They were simply things that came to mind when I decided to pursue that particular school of magic." He shrugged a bit as he finished, understanding it wasn't really much of an explanation.

She nodded, looking forward. "Fair enough. They're pretty cool, I'll give ya that." Eden offered a smile, seemingly trying to get back to the brightness she had before all of this. She pressed her hands together as they walked, the usual soft glow seeping out from between them. As she separated her hands, a small canine figurine with two heads slowly took shape. The young woman turned it over in her hands, before holding it out to Katergi. "It's not much, but...a little memento to say thanks for saving my ass back there."

"That they are," he agreed with a smile, "though Orthrus can be like an oversized puppy." It wasn't often that he called on them when not needed, but even his familiars deserved some R&R at times. Soarus and Mercurus behaved as one might expect, but Orthrus… sometimes it caused just as much property damage outside as during combat. Glancing over at the soft light, he raised an eye at the construct being shaped in between Eden's hands. It wasn't quite the brute display that had wrenched apart the warehouse doors, but a more sublime demonstration. Taking the finished piece when offered, he held it up to the light to examine it, whistling in admiration at detail and craftsmanship. "Thank you, it's rather impressive. I wouldn't be surprised if you fetched a nice price for pieces like this."

Eden laughed a bit, glad that he wasn't too put off by her paltry display of appreciation. "It's how I make a little money on the side. People call with commissions, and as long as they aren't insanely grandiose, I can make it happen." She paused, her smile faltering. "...I'm guessing I'll be making a lot of things for memorial services soon." Eden lamented, obviously hinting at the Prime Hour Tower situation.

Nodding, he slipped the small figurine into a pouch to keep it safe before frowning momentarily. No doubt the situation was already causing a stir, and its effects would be revealed in the coming weeks. "Try not to burn yourself out then. Hopefully Mr. Rattim and his associates will be able to come through with something." Not sure if Eden was up for another mission after a rather bloody first, Katergi left unsaid that he looked forward to paying the mind's behind this all back. It wasn't really a good point as a mercenary, given the unpredictable nature of many offered jobs, but he disliked being one-upped.

"Right...yeah. I'll be fine." Eden nodded solemnly, before that same sadness was replaced with a tinge of anger. "I'd hope so. This is cutting it way too close. Hopefully they find something before Neo Babylon goes up in flames…" She was immediately somewhat surprised that she had said such a thing so out of character for her. She tried to shake the thoughts out of her head. "Sorry, guess I'm still on edge."

He paused in step for a moment at Eden's sharp words, before continuing on with a small smile. Even if it was anger, it was something at the least and thus better than faltering after the grisly experience. Waving her apology off, he was about to say something as well before he glanced aside. Fishing the phone from his pocket he muttered, "Sorry," before taking a look at just who was calling. He'd told his contacts to forgo any work at the moment, so this was slightly unexpected.

Recognizing the caller Katergi answered, only for Cynthia to interrupt him before he could get a single word out. Frowning as the one-sided conversation continued on, he sighed when she finally finished and let him speak. "Wh-" Of course before he could really say anything, she cut him off; already knowing it wasn't what she wanted to hear. Pinching the bridge of his nose in slight frustration, he grumbled out, "Fine," before cutting the call. "Sorry to cut this short," he apologized as he turned back to Eden, "but need to head out now."
