The city of Metropolis.

A pristine city, situated in the northeastern side of the U.S. Bustling and full of life, Metropolis was divided into its six Burroughs, yet boasted and benefited from a diverse and united community. The home to many brilliant scientist and A-list celebrities, perhaps the city was most well known for being the home of Superman, the greatest hero the world has ever seen and a founder of the Justice League.

Metropolis was a shining beacon of opportunity, family, and life. With its own Major League sports teams, a massive university within, a plethora of state of the art labs, and its famous newspaper, the Daily Planet, the city was well known throughout the country. And if citizens were lucky enough to glimpse at the sky and see a what looked like a man flying over, they can feel hope as well.

However, even in the brightest of cities, there will always be darkness lurking as well.

Gathered outside a small bar on the edge of Centennial park were five men, murmuring to each other as they lighted some cigarettes and shared a flask of beer. There was business to be talked about, and the Gazzo family was eager to make a deal.

A man approached, greeting the men jovially. The Gazzo's greeted him in return, showing the newcomer their eagerness. The deal should go smoothly, as long as the Gazzos keep their end of the bargain and provide the help they need. Hopefully that extra help would agree to this as well; the rewards would be endless.

A limo pulled up, and the men entered the limo and drove away.

As twilight turned to dusk, three girls were walking through Centennial park, happily chatting with each other. One girl was tall, standing at near five feet and nine inches; another girl, stouter and with a shocking head of purple hair. And finally, one with long blonde hair walked next to them, joining in on their conversation.

"I can't believe you two made me eat that burger," complained the red haired girl. "Dolly, how could you?"

The purple haired girl, Dolly, snorted."You'll be fine, Jen. A burger is nothing for an all star athlete. Right, Kara?"

The blonde, Kara, nodded in agreement. Her friend was always so health conscious. One day of spoiling herself would be fine. Plus she aced that 200 meter relay with ease the other day. Nobody could beat her.

Well, nobody but Kara Danvers if she really put her all into it.

The girls made their way through Centennial Park, until they stopped right in front of the Superman memorial statue.

"And here he is. Big Ol' Blue," Dolly gestured dramatically. "You'll think he'll be flying over this place anytime today?"

Kara stared up at the statue, the lights causing the gold leaf to shimmer even in the dim sky. The statue stood tall, one arm raised to become the perch of a large gold eagle. Superman's face, stern, yet somehow proud and always looking toward the rising sun as if ready to face a new day. Kara couldn't help but puff out her chest as her eyes landed on the House of El emblem, or as everyone on this planet seemed to call it, 'Superman S.'

"Doubt it," she replied, continuing to walk away. She recalled an email sent to her a few days ago from Clark Kent. The email said he would be going away for a while to attend to some Justice League duties with a reminder to do well in school, report any strange activity instead of rushing off to tackle them herself, followed by a sincere farewell and a promise to visit with presents if she wants. Fortunately for him, Midvale and Metropolis have been quiet.

"Probably off saving someone, you know," said Jen as she and Dolly caught up.

"Bummer."

"Why are you so interested in seeing Superman?" Asked Jen, raising an eyebrow at her friend. "Thought you played for the other team."

Dolly rolled her eyes. "I wanna know if he can throw his S and trap people with it."

Kara spluttered, roaring with laughter. "Okay, I can assure you that is definitely not one of his powers."

"How do you know? You got some super secret?" Asked Dolly.

Embarrassed at her fluke, Kara rubbed her neck furiously. "You see, the reason is . . ." she began, attempting to find an excuse to save herself, when out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a group of men gathered together, talking and laughing. A limo pulled up and soon all of them were inside before the limo drove away.

"Oh, would you look at that, it's past curfew for me," said Kara suddenly, ducking around her friends. "It was fun hanging out, but my mom made me promise to be home on time. You know how strict she. See you Monday?"

Kara didn't wait for an answer as she dashed down the pathway. Once she was out of sight of Jen and Dolly, she kicked hard on the ground, her strides taking her faster than a normal human and leaving small imprints of her foot on the concrete.

Clark had said if she saw danger, don't jump in. Don't expose herself unless she wanted to lose Eliza and Alex like she lost Jeremiah. If she saw danger, she should tell it to those who were trained and know what they were doing. The problem with that was what if help came too late? Clark was fast. She was fast, reaching speeds no human is capable of.

They were fast because they weren't human.

If she wasn't mistaken, then some of those goons were members of the Gazzo family, and it raised suspicion to see so many of them gathered together in one place outside of their territory. Even worse to see them chatting with someone who didn't even look similar to them at all. Kara wasn't sure who that other man was, but she knew this wasn't a good sign.

The limo turned a few corners before parking itself outside a small house. Kara was right behind them, putting enough distance between her and them to not be noticed while still keeping them in her sight, The men exited the car and entered the house. Kara pressed herself against the wall, creeping closer to the door as she got a better look.
