A man who is probably in his mid fifties strikes is seen on a camera. He appears to be in deep thought, ignoring the camera entirely. It's clearly a small space of some sort with chemicals in bottles and test tubes covering the entirety of the walls. Behind the man is a door that is slightly ajar. You can see into it. There are cyborgs. Cyborgs are being built and you can here the sound of drills and machinery. Bubbling noises begin to fill your ears and every so often you hear a scream. After several long intense moments, the man gets up to shut the door and then begins to speak to the camera. A black cat appears on the screen and makes room for itself on the man's shoulder.
"Hello all. Let me be the first to welcome you to Project B.R.L.A.C (Ber - lack) Bio technologically Repaired and Lethally Armed Cyborgs. I am the founder of this project and my name is Nomura, Hideki. I go by Dr. Nomura to my Cyborgs and by Hideki to my family. If you're here, I have some terrible news. You're probably almost dead. In fact, you're so close to death, that doctors have probably given up hope on your survival, but not me. No certainly not me. I am here to help you reclaim the life that was almost taken from you. I have saved you from a situation that had been deemed hopeless. I've given you enhancements that will allow you to do death defying things on a daily basis. You're armed. You could easily wipe out an entire block if you so chose to. What you do with all your power is up to you now.
On the other side of the spectrum, you could have come to me on your own accord. In which case, that is marvelous. Healthy humans seem to react to enhancements a bit better than someone who is nearly dead. The only down side is that it's considerably more painful to healthy subject.
Now I'm sure you're wondering, what's the goal of Project B.R.L.A.C? Well, as an inventor, I've created several things, but something I've created has gone awry. It's entirely robotic and has a mind of its own. Her name is FI and she's constantly learning. I created it years ago, but now it's come to its prime. It wants to wipe out the human race as it sees robots as superior beings to humans. As its creator I know how to destroy it, but if I get anywhere near it, it would destroy me.
I need the subjects of Project B.R.L.A.C to find this robot and bring her to me so that I may destroy her. I fear that she may have armies of robots that she created herself. Unfortunately, they are not as successful as their creator, but each day she is getting closer. If she creates an exact replica of herself, I fear for humanity. She could be anywhere, but do not worry, I will keep in contact with you whenever I get a hunch on where she might be, but be careful, her robots are actively looking for you and they will kill you any chance they get. Try to minimize casualties, I'd like it if humans continued to donate to my cause.
Lastly, it's the year 3049 and the date is Thursday, December 24th. Technology has advanced considerably as far as entertainment is concerned, but the medical field has advanced considerably, but very slowly. There's been an increase in murders and no culprits to show for, but we know it's the work of FI and her creations. She's going for an all out Genocide and she's doing it quickly. Please, if any of my cyborgs are seeing this, help humans survive..."
The camera cuts off and the screen turns black.
SOOO, in short and hopefully easier to follow explanation, you're a Cyborg created by Dr. Nomura either by choice or because you were almost dead. There's a highly dangerous and highly lethal A.I. Robot by the name of Fi that's out to eliminate the human race as it stands. Since you are part human, you don't exactly have to do what Dr. Nomura says. You have your own free will and if you wanted to ignore the turmoils of the human race you could, but there would be repercussions as Fi's robots would still try to actively search for and kill you.
This RP begins in Japan, but as the story continues, Fi becomes more of a worldwide problem. So your character could be from any country you wanted them to. I'm not sure how far or how great this RP will be as it's still a work in progress and I'm continually working out plot holes and designing a world for your characters to interact in. That being said, expect the start time of this RP to be one week at the EARLIEST. Well thought out characters will flourish here so if you've got a character you LOVE and know really well, this would be the time to bring them out.
Something else, each cyborg is designed for a specific purpose. For example, is your cyborg designed to be a weapon or a mechanic. Some cyborgs are even designed to help humans recover from injuries sustained from skirmishes with Fi's robotic minions. Later on, I will explain the significance of these designs.
In your character sheets, there will be something known as a requested enhancements, meaning you can request something to be added to your character's arsenal. For example, you could request to have more speed. You could request to have more strength, intelligence, have a jet pack, etc. Whatever your mind can think of and Dr. Nomura will either reject or accept your enhancements. You get a maximum of three extra enhancements.
All cyborgs are waterproof.
