Princess Fujiwara no Mokou of Ootori

Age: 18

Personality: Brash, hotheaded, determined, independent, passionate. All are words people have used to describe Mokou - along with some terms that are far more harsh, from time to time. She has a warrior's spirit...in other words, she's incredibly stubborn, but also incredibly loyal, and won't give up on what she believes in. If only she didn't hold grudges so long! Or if she was willing to put aside her sense of national pride sometimes. And the whole competitive aspect is sorta problematic too. She has good intentions, at least, and is humble enough to work alongside her people as if she were a commoner. If someone needs help, she'll do what she can and move on, no thanks requested. Overall, the people of her country think she has potential to be a very capable leader, so long as she keeps listening to her advisers and gets a handle on the whole "setting things on fire accidentally while angry" thing. (It's gotten so much better compared to when she was young, really!)

Optional Bio: The sole surviving daughter of the lord and lady of Ootori, Mokou is also a direct descendant of the Fujiwara Clan. The family has led their small kingdom for centuries - ever since their land emerged as a separate state from the Kingdom of the Far East. While lacking in major exports, one location serves as Ootori's claim to fame: a volcanic mountain that's also known as the Divine Forge. Troops of mercenaries, skilled survivalists, and talented blacksmiths have spread the kingdom's name over time. The people are also known for having ties to the element of fire...which has become very common knowledge since the princess' gift started to manifest. If anything's mysterious about her, it's the cause of her rivalry with a certain neighboring princess. Some speculate that Mokou is driven by years of attempts to reabsorb Ootori into the Far East, which is its closest and most powerful neighbor. Others think that there was a personal falling-out between the two princesses. A few claim that they just can't stand each other and have clashed since they first met. A small but persistent handful say that there's some sort of weird love/hate relationship between them...not that anyone would voice that theory where their princess will hear.

Race/Species: Human
Kingdom: Ootori
Kingdom Status: Poor; they aren't on the verge of economic collapse, but the lifestyle is more simple and the amount of riches they have is noticeably smaller than other kingdoms.
Kingdom Race/Species Majority: Human (though friendly towards all races, even some Lunarians)
Allies: Neutral with most kingdoms
Enemies: Kingdom of the Far East

Yay! :) By the way, @Princess of the Teacup, are we allowed to play multiple characters? I have two other ideas that I might bring in.
If I can ever decide between them... >_>

Oh what the hey, throwing the concepts out there just 'cause! Maybe writing them down will help me make up my mind.

This human-like race comes from a kingdom in the mountains. Their land is rugged but full of ore - gems, rather than metals. Stories say that a dragon once resided there because of the usefulness of jewels for enchantments and other uses of magic. There's no proof of that, but what people do know is that the stone there really are wonderful as magic focus items, and gathering/cutting/shipping these is a major trade there. Why 'gathering' rather than 'mining' though? That's because of a strange tradition, which says that small gems grow and are 'shed' from their sources rather than removed by force. In turn, this is linked to the heritage of the people there.

Some of the veins of minerals in their land are so pure and so old that they began to absorb mana naturally, to the point where the energy took a form of its own. That being of gathered magic was the first humanoid to live in that land, many many generations ago, and more eventually followed. The people in this land don't give birth as other species do; their 'children' are created by combining the energy of the parents and enchanting a specially prepared gem, which will hopefully cause the arrival of a child. Similarly, they grow as their birthstone absorbs more magic, rather than over time. They can still die, their bodies feel pain and are otherwise flesh and bone, but one could consider their soul to be held within their gem. Most people carry a splinter of their stone on them, crafted into some form of jewelry; the main gemstone is hidden somewhere safe in their home or some other place where it'll be secure. If they're planning on going very far, they can take the main stone with them. This is how they're able to travel around; in the old days, when personal stones were kept inside the mountains, people couldn't go far away without feeling uneasy and eventually becoming weak and ill.

The royal family's an exception, sort of. Their personal gems are precious in both the sentimental and the monetary sense, so they're kept locked up in a vault - one for each person. The only people who know where these are happen to be guards sworn to protecting the place and keeping it secret, because it's been found that damaging an individual's personal stone causes them to fall unconscious, their body stiff and cold like a statue. Shattering one kills them outright, and worse, there's very little chance of their soul's energy safely returning to the land. (There's a belief there that everyone who has their physical body die continues on as a soul - which is just pure energy - that returns to nature. Using magic is technically burning energy made of the dead, by this worldview...but, since the energy used isn't destroyed, simply changed into another form and then released, it's not harmful on the whole.) That thought is why they don't mine the mineral ores directly, as they're afraid of upsetting the balance that causes them to find smaller gems with the same abilities as the larger ores, and inadvertently releasing all that energy from the veins and causing it to...well, they don't know what would happen, but they're sure it would be a catastrophe.

Back to the royal family. Since their gemstones are locked up and hidden away, one would think they wouldn't be able to travel. Along with a small 'dropped' fragment of their own gem, the people of the land give a gift to newly born children. It's a set of jewels filled with the energy of the people and charged with spells of protection or wishes for good fortune. These strengthen them for whatever distant journeys they have to make, both emotionally and physically.

Other than all of this stuff happening under the surface, what makes these guys different from humans?
-They have small, slightly pointed ears; not as large or dramatic as an elf, but clearly non-human.
-Hair or eyes tend to be in the color of their personal gemstone. In the case of the royals, the one matching that color is also a little sparkly.
-Magic is very common, to the point of using it in place of otherwise common tools. (Writing a note? Float over the paper, make words appear on the page - or skip the paper and just make a message appear in glowing letters in front of the recipient! Depends on personal skills, since everyone has their own talents and preferences.) They take it for granted, much as modern humans take advantage of electricity when they've had easy access to it all their lives.
-Their bodies are smaller than the human average and less hardy-looking. While not sickly or weak in appearance, they do come off as more fragile in comparison.
-They don't need to eat or drink water. Are they able to? Yup! Do they like to? Sure, as a social activity or just for the enjoyment of the food. But it's not really needed. They can die from violent acts or major injury, though, and illness is a concern too. They do require air, by the way.
-Their growth pattern is...odd. Newborns are babies for only a couple weeks, then go quickly to 3-4 years old in appearance and ability. Then the pace is set by mental/emotional maturity rather than physical. Someone who's very childish might be 25 years old but look like they're 9, someone else might be 11 years old but look like they're 20 because they grew up quickly.
-When someone becomes old and weary, their body starts to age again, reflecting their mind set. Eventually the person falls asleep and doesn't awaken, at which point their body begins to rapidly break down and decay. It's customary to bury the body respectfully, but without any protection from the elements, so the materials can easily return to the earth. The 'heart' of the person remains in their gem, by their belief - not the soul, but something of the 'aura' or 'essence' of the person as an individual. So instead of graveyards, they have family shrines that hold the gems of their ancestors (fragments, in the case of the royal family) and people go there to feel connected with their pasts and to pay respects.
-Skin color changes based on lifestyle; someone who works outside or on the road might be tanned, someone who lives a long time in snowy climates may become pale when they weren't before.
-All of them, even those who are technically poor, wear and carry jewelry on them even if it's hidden. If they give a piece away, it's either a mundane one or something without sentimental value; giving away a magic-infused gem or a personal gemstone is a sign of a very precious bond between the two.

Um...this is longer than I thought it would be...I had more info brewing on them than I thought. But still not a name! >_<

Fun fact: this group was inspired by a specific image I found while looking for a princess idea. Yup! I don't know how this happened either, ahahaha.

Most slimes are common monsters, found out in the wilderness of the world. They often appear in places rich in moisture, though what exactly causes them to form is largely unknown. (Someone somewhere probably knows it though.) Their bodies are naturally amorphic, taking on whatever shape gravity and nature make most convenient. They're simple creatures that live on instinct, absorbing whatever they can, then dissolving it inside their bodies to serve as nourishment. This material allows them to grow in size, until eventually they split in two, becoming another slime that squirms off to do the same thing. There's tales of a strange land where slimes began to respond to attacks from humans, taking on more and stranger forms in order to hunt and defend their home...but nobody's ever come across that place and come back to tell about it.

All that considered, how could there even be a slime kingdom? Simple: one of them got smart. It's actually a mutation - an error of sorts, where a slime ate and grew yet never divided. This process continued until the slime was roughly the size of a young dog, and that's when it discovered that it could do more than just ooze around. With all that material to work with, it somehow managed to change its form temporarily. It was still a squishy and easily defeated slime, but it was a bigger, heavier, mobile one. Slow, but mobile. The details of the story grow hazy here, since the only ones who know it are other slimes and they're not always the sharpest needles in the haystack...but according to one version, the slime became sentient due to the curiosity of a human that discovered it. In trying to learn what made this slime different, the human inadvertently taught it to think about itself, to learn and question instead of just living on instinct alone. Was there magic involved? Possibly; some versions of the tale say the whole point was to make a 'smart' slime, though nobody seems to know why.

Time passed, and this unusual slime continued to grow, until it became the current Slime Queen. There's only ever been one queen, according to the slimes themselves; differences are caused by the body's form changing, not any shift of who the body is. The Queen of the Slimes is also the substance that makes up the kingdom of the Slimes. Growing massive, able to form buildings and paths and bridges out of her own bulk, this slime's become a home for other slimes, and in turn those slimes provide the queen with food and information of the outside world. Like the queen, these slimes are intelligent...for slimes, anyway. They can change their forms based on what they need to be at the time, at least temporarily, and tend to live carefree lives where they aren't hunted by other monsters or plucky adventurers. The streets of the slime's homeland are lightly hardened, like the top of a gelatin dessert layered over itself 100 times; people walking across it might compare it to striding across a less-jiggly version of a waterbed. But most things are still somewhat transparent, so when the sun rises, the light shining through the windows and walls of buildings is a soft metallic blue that makes the place look as if it's at the bottom of the ocean.

Actually, the location is deep within a forest, a place that wasn't discovered by humans for a long time. When they got there, the slimes were already in the town, walking about in humanoid forms once they saw the newcomers. Of the shapes slime-people can take, though, humanoid is a difficult one...all long upright body and separated limbs and wiggly digits. Slimes, who have membranes but no skeleton or muscle, struggle to hold that kind of shape for any significant time. So it comes as little surprise that the Princess of Slimes is one who has this ability, taught to her by the queen herself. The current princess was once part of the queen...who can't divide, as established before. So how'd she become separate enough to travel? This was done as a special ceremony, in order to have a representative of the queen who could meet with other nations on their own grounds. She knows everything the queen knows...as of her 'birth', or the day when her body was formed and separated. Since then, they've been individuals, but gladly share knowledge with one another when they meet. She's been practicing to take humanoid form for a long time, but even for her, it's usually easier to be slime-shaped below the waist. At those times, she just 'walks' about as a torso rising from her cozy puddle, or sits in chairs with her lower body turned blobby and uncertain beneath the table. This seems to make people uneasy. She tries to keep herself with legs and clothing and all that, but man is it hard for hours and hours while her attention wanders and ooooh what's that shiny thing taste like?

Oh right, another important thing to know about slime-people is that they still have the urge to 'eat' things. The inside of their body, especially at the core, is acidic; anything that stays there long enough will slowly dissolve. (And if the slime in question either doesn't know how to, or forgets to, make their outer layers thick and semi-opaque, everyone watching gets to see that. Fun!) At the upper layers, the acid only manifests as a slight tingling...though it really isn't suggested to leave one's hand inside a slime even then, just to be safe. In any case, a slime who finds something to be tasty will grab it with some part of their body and wrap around it tightly, forcing the item past the membrane and into the body, where it slowly sinks into the core. Slimes will eat anything, too. Food items, plates, silverware, glasses, napkins, tablecloths, jewelry, books, weapons, you name it. What matters is the substance it's made of rather than what it's for. Protein is good for growth, metal for physical protection, wood products for vitamins, citrus to help with digestion speed, and so on. When dealing with something they don't know, many slimes will want to 'eat' it to learn what it's made of...and of course, there's no getting it back then. Slimes who are used to dealing with humans can suppress the urge for a while; just be sure to give them other snacks. They can only dissolve so much at once and start feeling 'full' once their bodies are too cluttered with things to digest. They also won't eat anything larger than half their own body in size, unless it's an attempt to defeat an attacker.

Speaking of which. Slimes don't age or die in the way that humans do. From the minute it takes shape to the moment it ceases to move, slimes pretty much operate in the same way. Intelligent ones will consider their 'birthday' to be the day that they (or someone else) named them and they were able to recognize the name as their own, but wild slimes don't really have birthdays or a concept of 'age' at all. While they can't starve, technically, slimes do need water to continue to function. Not too little, not too much; a slime thrown in a deep lake will become over-hydrated and begin to break apart. A slime with no water will begin to shrink until they've crumbled into dust. It's also possible to kill them by doing many things that would kill a human, outside of organ damage and suffocation. Slimes don't breathe, but they are very vunerable to squishing and to being torn through. A warrior can kill one with a sword not because they can bleed, but because breaking them up into tiny pieces makes it too hard for them to reform before their substance soaks into the ground, and that destroys them too. In the case of an intelligent one, being broken into small parts and not allowed to reform turns the parts into individual slimes without intelligence...why is a mystery, and none of them really want to get to the bottom of it.

So, after all of that, why would anybody even recognize a slime kingdom as being a kingdom? Well, slimes can go almost anyplace, and in their wanderings, many slimes find interesting things. Items of legendary or magical nature don't dissolve inside of a slime with the speed of other items, and they can just pick these up and carry them inside, no problem. Slime gel - the more liquid and squishy stuff between the exterior and the core - also has interesting properties. When stretched out and allowed to harden, it becomes like colored glass, but tougher. Some slimes create artwork with it, and their kingdom is full of mosaics and pictures made that way. When put in jars and mixed with certain herbs and other plant materials, it's good for long-lasting potions or medicines...if you can get over the idea of what you're drinking. If blended with other materials, it makes for vibrant dye that doesn't fade with washing. Some people even say that slime gel tastes good, all by itself, that the different colors of slimes have different flavors...but those people are seen as pretty weird. As for the slimes? They don't really mind that their bodies are used that way, since they secrete goop just while moving around in the first place. It's painless for them, like getting a haircut is for a human, and the trade allows them to get things they couldn't have otherwise. Though sometimes they have to be reminded not to eat other kingdoms' currencies... Also, intelligent slimes are capable of communicating with normal slimes. If a town's having trouble with the wildlife, a member of the Slime Kingdom can come and get to the bottom of the problem without anyone having to fight. Sure, it's 'just' a slime, but for villagers armed with blunt weapons, it's a minor monster that gleefully ate their staff after it bounced off a few times.

Slimes are a simple people who like food, sleep, friendly people, new things, and stuff that looks pretty. As a result, their kingdom is laid-back and easygoing as well. Most carry their belonging with them when they leave - often by putting them in a bag and then absorbing the bag, only to keep it at a shallow level of the body - and don't mind it if someone's taken up residence when they come back. The queen's court has absorbed behaviors and traits from humans and other species, so they have their share of snobs, gossips, and hangers-on...but for them it's like a fun game, on some level. Even the princess, who travels the most outside of their territories, has to be reminded of the importance of things she doesn't 'get' due to her nature. Matters of food though, those are always important! Weather changes too, and incursions of powerful monsters.

...Ah, it's almost 2am, no wonder this has gotten awfully ramble-y and messy. Apologies!

I have a question about the Grey Place. Is it all grey inside, too, or is it fancy?

Oh, and I made some changes to Kaguya and Beatrice's races. I'll hold off posting until I know if those parts are approved.

@Lady Bernkastel
The grey place has some furniture inside of it but its mostly simplistic. Like a rich person would have a floral designed vase but the gray place just has a tope colored vase.

@driftingstar

Multiple character's are allowed.

Princess Aryakumara of Childe
Age: 7
Personality: She's cute and nice when things are going her way. She isn't much a diplomat but then again she's never had to negotiate anything because due to the age of her people, she's simply given what she desires.
However, when she doesn't get what she wants, she throws a tantrum and it is then when her inner rage takes control of her body and she transforms to a hideous monster. She rages and wreaks havoc everywhere, until she is given what she wants or she wears herself out. During her tantrum, her voice stays the same so she's basically a massive hell spawn with a cute voice.

Race/Species: Magical Childe
Kingdom: Childe
Kingdom Status: Excellent when everyone is happy.
The vast majority of citizens in the kingdom of Childe is children between the ages of 1-12. Upon turning 13, the citizens are sent away to find different homes. There are some adult citizens but they are all old women and act as the working class. They serve and care for the children.

Most toys in the land originate from Childe, because who knows toys better than actual children?
The current state of the kingdom is excellent, however, all children have a tantrum form and when it is activated chaos and destruction run rampant. This is why the kingdom is inside of a fortress surrounded by thirty foot steel walls with a steel grid on the top to prevent anyone from jumping or flying out while in tantrum form. On the outside, the walls are painted in bright colors to give the illusion that the walls are stone and are probably just there to protect the inhabitants of the kingdom.

Kingdom Race/Species Majority: Magical Childes
Allies: WIP
Enemies: WIP
