Pretending to be my Brother

Shin woo smiled and shook his head. "Do not worry Hyeon. Tonight we have a celebratory gathering so you won't have to start practicing until tomorrow. Tae Kyung is just being his normal happy self, aren't you Tae Kyung?" Shin asked with a pointed glance. If there was anyone that could talk directly to the leader and not fear reprisals it was probably Shin Woo. Of course, Shin didn't fear the wrath of Tae Kyung and could normally laugh his foul moods or looks away without a worry in the world. He would try to calm the waves of dislike that Tae kyung seemed to have for their new member.

Hyeon swallowed at the threat, her eyes holding his as he looked at her. She had seen scarier right? She had to deal with mentally unstable homeless men and women at the church and they could become scary if not handled the right way. One thing she had learned was that if you bowed down before them, they would run over your and never look back. One had to hold their gaze whenever they looked at them or else they'd take you as weak. And so she decided to treat Tae Kyung like one of her homeless mental men and women from the Church. "I do not mind starting today Shin Woo. I'll be sure not to take a long time Tae Kyung. There is no excuse for laziness," she said before looking away and out the window the a small smile as she mentally compared this rich, attitude infested man with one of her homeless friends.

That's right, the party that those two had made for the new guy, Tae Kyung had mostly stayed out of the way as they had prepared for it. He didn't even want to be there and he would probably just go to his room and do something important instead of playing around with them. Tae Kyung raised his eyebrows at Shin Woo's comment, well he often didn't get happier than he were at the moment so he had a point in what he said. "Ecstatic" He said.

Jeremy couldn't really understand how Shin Woo could have such a great contact with Tae Kyung, not even he had made such a contact with him even though they had lived together as long as Shin Woo and Tae Kyung had. It wasn't like he got treated bad but it still seemed like Shin Woo had a bit better relationship with him. "Don't be silly Hyeon, you must be on your own party and you need to unpack your things, you can start training tomorrow." Jeremy said with a smile, he and Shin Woo had prepared so much, it couldn't be wasted.

"It wouldn't be nice of you to turn down a welcome party that is for you. Just work double as hard tomorrow and skip training today." Tae Kyung said, it wasn't for the new kids sake, he would actually want him to start training this day. But both Jeremy and Shin Woo would get disappointed if they couldn't have the party or were forced to cut the party short because the new guy would want to train instead. Even though it maybe didn't show on him he still thought of Jeremy and Shin Woo as brothers, they had lived together for years and been threw some tough times together. He wouldn't go as far as to say that he liked them, but he at least saw them as some kind of family.

Hyeon looked back at the other two in the back seat and frowned a little, not understanding why they would want to throw a party for a new member that might not even stay long if the leader had anything to say about it. But she couldn't very well say no. She thought about the manager and started to plot his demise when she got a hold of him. He had said nothing about a party or staying in the same house with him, or any of these. It was all becoming complicated and she would kill 'im.

"Thank you," she said and smiled a little bit before looking as Tae Kyung told her to simply work harder. "You needn't worry. I'll make sure to make up for any time spent at this party tomorrow. If anything I'm a hard worker."

Shinwoo had to admit that he had guts talking to Tae Kyung like that. Shinwoo could get away with it. Hell, Jeremy could probably get away with it if he quickly ran in the opposite direction. "Tae Kyung, shouldn't you relax this evening to? You've been working so hard lately. We'll have your favorite foods there," Shin offered, smiling at the leader to distract him from the slightly pert way that Hyeon had talked to him.

He had to admit that the boy had guts, no one dared to talk to him like that the first time they met him. Even the manager were a bit scared of him. This Hyeon was probably scared but he were to proud to show it, hopefully he would be able to hide his nervousness on the stage the same way as he hide his fear at the moment. He turned to look at Shin Woo as he started to speak to him, he still had to finish the song he were writing on and still Shin Woo suggested that he should take a break.

"Yeah, you need to take a break sometimes now and then or else you won't be able to do your best when we train or perform." Jeremy said agreeing with Shin Woo. Tae Kyung gave them an irritating glare, it wasn't the party that was bothersome, it was that they had to train a new guy that the president suddenly wanted to take in to the band. They didn't need a new guy, they were good enough just the three of them. But the president didn't agree.

"I have things to do, but I guess I can spare an hour or two before I go back to work." He said, hopefully he wouldn't have to stay that long, maybe he could sneak out after a while. He wondered a bit how Hyeon would react when they got to the house, their fans would probably be gathered as they always were, what would happen when they saw the new guy? Everyone knew that a new band member would come but they didn't know when.

"Ah, there's the house." Jeremy said and pointed as the house started to be visible a bit away.

House did not describe the beautiful structure that they were nearing. Hyeon swallowed back a gasp and simply examined it with amazed eyes. "Was the architect the same guy that created the church in Janggok? It has his style and it's a very impressive house," Hyeon said, unwittingly using her love for architecture to navigate the waters. Her brother hated architecture--had since they'd grown up in a church that was loved for that. But she found it absolutely marvelous.

"Yes. He was nice enough to design it for us," Shinwoo said, with a nod, knowing who he meant. THere weren't many men that designed churches and houses. "How did you know without having to be inside?"

Hyeon pointed to something on the house through the front window and was about to explain when she saw the fans waiting outside. She froze and stared. "Um, well, if you look right there," She said, dragging her gaze from the masses of girls that were starting to stand at the sight of the van. "That's his signature, the raised roof and then another one perpendicular to it."

As the van drove up towards the driveway the girls encircled the van and Hyeon stared out with wide eyes. She had never thought that there could be this many girls interested in one little itty bitty van.

Jeremy didn't really knew what they were talking about, some designer guy apparently. He weren't interested in such stuff so he just kept out of the discussion and hoped there would come something more funny to talk about in a little while. Tae Kyung on the other hand knew exactly who and what they talked about but he weren't that interested in the discussion so even he stayed out of the discussion. As they came closer to the house and the van stopped the girls started to surround the van, their screams gave Tae Kyung headache. But he wouldn't turn his fans down by staying in the van until they left, a couple of minutes a day wouldn't kill him.

"Shall we see how much stamina you have kid? These girls are worse than Jeremy." Tae Kyung said and opened the van door to go out to the screaming girls. The security guys had already come to the doors and tried to make a way for the idols so they could go to their house. "Don't worry, they don't bite." Jeremy said before he jumped out of the van and started to wave to the fans. Some of the girls were people that always came and some of them were people that came now and then when they had time. It was one particular girl that didn't miss even one day.

"Isn't there a forth person in the van?" One of the girls said and the others started to mumble between the fan girl screams.
"Maybe it is the forth member, the rumors said there would be one soon." Another said. The whispers spread around the girls.

Shinwoo smiled at Hyeon, "Do not worry. Just smile and nod and you should be fine," he said before exiting the van after Jeremy. His smile sparkled as he nodded to a few girls and followed Tae Kyung and Jeremy, though he stopped and looked back at the van after a few seconds had passed, hoping that Hyeon hadn't stiffened up and decided not to make an appearance. This would be the time that would be most crucial to his entrance of A.N.Jell.

Hyeon stared at the girls outside the darkened van and unbuckled her seat belt slowly. They would think she was a he and try to get close. She had to make sure that anyone that tried such a thing got diverted so as they didn't feel her bound chest and guess she was a girl. Putting on as calm of a smile as she could, Hyeon climbed slowly from the van, looking around with bright eyes. Keeping the cool smile on her lips, she walked through the girls to join the other three men. Standing there among them she felt even shorter than she had when she first joined them. She was about the same height as the girls so she stuck even closer to Shin Woo, giving a small wave and a 'hello' to a few of the girls that were staring at her.

"Do they always stare so?" she asked, though her lips didn't move and the words would just barely reach the other three's ears as she turned to look at the house and then at the girls again. The girls knew where they lived. She would have to be so much more careful with how she acted.

"No, this is the first time. For the most they just scream and asks for autographs." Jeremy laughed silently. Even he could figure out that they were a bit confused over the new guy that had joined them so suddenly, there hadn't come out a official answer to if they would get a fourth member or not and they had only heard it because of rumors. That's why they must be really confused, the most of them probably hadn't even believed the rumors. He waved more and his happy smile never got smaller nor bigger.

Tae Kyung fixed a part of his hair that had gotten messed up, even though no one else would even notice the little part of his hair that had gotten out of place he thought it was a big matter. He hated disorder and were forced to fix it as fast as he noticed it, he didn't give much attention to the crowd of girls and that was probably what they thought were charming about him, not because he could understand why. If they asked him for an autograph then he would give them one without talking to them, that was how he worked with his fans. But everyone seemed too chocked by Hyeon to ask for autographs at the moment, which actually felt pretty good.

He reached the door and opened it, if the new member had walked right after him then he would probably have thrown it at him, but luckily it were Jeremy and then Shin Woo before Hyeon came. It wouldn't have looked bad if he had thrown the door at the new member.

Hyeon continued to smile and bob his head in greetings to the various girls before he was in the house. On the outside she was calm. On the inside she was raving mess. Everything was happening too fast. She was not even supposed to be living with these men! She was supposed to be able to go home each night and return to being the woman she was when they weren't around. At this rate, they would always be around and the girls! Ugh the girls would be a pain in a half too!

The manager that she'd been looking for sat in the living room with the owner--both of whom were watching Hyeon enter. The moment she saw them her gaze turned dark. She quickly schooled it to calmness, hoping that no one else but those who had seen. She put on a 'nice guy' smile and looked around the room with approving eyes. "Your home is very beautiful," she said with a calm voice though her insides wanted to claw the two sitting on the couch to pieces.

Jeremy almost jumped in like a little school boy would do, then he started to run. He had to go and get Jolie so that Hyeon could meet her. Tae Kyung looked after Jeremy until he had disappeared around the corner of the room. He was pretty sure what Jeremy was up to, he didn't like to have that dog running around in the house and for the most Jeremy kept the dog at just special places in the house when he took her in but for the most she were outside, that was were she preferred to be anyways, even Jeremy said that. But as long as they cleaned afterwards then it should be fine, and of course Jeremy had to hold the dog away from him. Already when Jeremy had come there with Jolie he had warned him for letting her get near him, one touch and she would get thrown out. That was before they had gotten to know each other though, now it would be a bit harder to do something like that towards Jeremy. He would become devastated if they got rid of Jolie.

"What are you two doing here?" He asked when he saw the manager and the owner in the living room. He hoped they weren't there because of the party, coming there just because of such a ridiculous matter were just idiotic.

Jeremy fast came back with Jolie and Tae Kyung backed away a bit so that the dog wouldn't jump up at him even though she weren't the kind of dog that jumped up on people. Jeremy had her in a collar so that she wouldn't go around freely around Tae Kyung, he still had that threat from four years ago in his head even though he didn't think that Tae Kyung would do such a thing now.

"This is Jolie." He said happy as he walked to Hyeon. Tae Kyung tried to keep his concentration on the manager and owner instead of the dog. Hopefully they would have a good reason for being there.

Hyeon knelt and held out a hand to the dog for her to sniff, a smile that was neither controlled nor fake appearing on her face, brightening it somehow. "Hi there Jolie," she said as the dog sniffed her hand. "I'm Hyeon, may I pet you?" She treated all animals with this same kind respect. She laughed as the dog licked her face.

"We came to see how Hyeon was fitting in. I also had a few things I needed to speak to him about before anything happened," the manager said with a smile as he watched the girl play with the dog by scratching its hears and chin and overall treating the dog as if she were an old friend.

"And we heard that there was going to be a welcoming party," the owner said, a man that always liked parties because there was normally drinking involved.

I knew it Tae Kyung thought as the owner spoke, he had come for the party. Which meant it would be a pain in the ass party with a lot of drinking and annoying screaming when someone got drunk. So even if he left after an hour he would still not be able to make the song because they would disturb him by being to loud. He knew the owners drinking habits, he could become really pushy. If Tae Kyung would try to leave the table then he would complain a lot.

"See I told you that she would like you." Jeremy said with a big childish grin on his face. He would have to vacuum-clean the floor the next day so that Tae Kyung wouldn't get angry because of the dog hair but it was worth it. Jollie were like his best friend and she had always been there for him when he needed her, even though Tae Kyung didn't like her that much he still wanted her to be a part of their family.

Tae Kyung started to walk to the other side of the room so that he wouldn't have to be so close to the dog, just watching someone getting licked by the dog made him want to go and take a shower. He didn't have anything against animals, it was just dirt that he had something against. Disorder, dirt and such thing was things he couldn't be around, everything had to be perfect for him to be able to be there. If the house hadn't been like it were then he would never have said yes to live in it with the others from the beginning. It had to be as bacteria free and clean as possible.

"You two should go and talk immediately so that we can start the party as soon as possible." Jeremy said with a smile. He wanted to see Hyeon's expression when he saw the decorations outside where they were going to eat.

Hyeon rose from the ground where the dog had pushed her with a giggle before stepping away from the dog, towards the manager and owner. She did a playful salute to Jeremy, relaxing a bit int heir presence, "Aye, Aye, Capitan Jeremy," She said with a laugh before turning and giving the two older males a look that could have peeled onions. The owner and manager laughed it off quickly and diverted the girl into a different part of the house before the rest of them heard her quiet exclaim about all the things that annoyed her about this plan.

A good ten minutes later they returned, each with a different expression on their face. Hyeon's face was the face of mutiny while the manager was calm and the owner was ecstatic looking.

"All right!" the owner said, "Where's this party you three planned for your new member Hyeon?"

Shinwoo smiled and motioned to the deck patio that they had at the top of a set of stairs. "Head on up sir."

Jeremy grinned at her salute and watched as the three of them walked out of the room, then he turned his attention to Jolie. He started to talk to the dog which made Tae Kyung roll his eyes. They waited in silence for about ten minutes, except Jeremy that talked with Jolie and told her how beautiful she were every minute and asked her if she missed him during the day every second minute. Tae Kyung almost wanted to shout hallelluja as they returned.

Jeremy turned his head and looked at the three of them that had returned. He noticed that something were a bit odd with Hyeon but he didn't say anything, instead he rushed up from the floor and took Hyeon's hand. "Come, it's this way." He said and pulled Hyeon with him up the stairs so that they Hyeon would be the first to see the decorations and so that he could see his expression. It wasn't that much really, it was mostly the table that was decorated a bit nicely and some lights that were around the house. Then they had put a grill there so that they would be able to have a barbecue.

Tae Kyung walked up slowly after everyone else, he didn't like to rush and he weren't interested in seeing how the new guy reacted or anything like that.

Hyeon followed the boy to the patio and smiled at the sight. Hyeon would have liked this had he been there. Of course he was a party person. She was the kind of person that went back to a room and relaxed or did more work that day. "You guys didn't have to do this," she said though she got a look from the manager and owner that said 'shut up and accept it' as they brushed past Jeremy and her and started to get everyone drinks from the cooler.

"What would you like Hyeon?" Shinwoo asked as he came to stand next to her, a smile on his face.

Hyeon looked at the variety of drinks--most of which the owner was pulling out were alcohol. But she did see a lovely bottle of soda down there still. "I can get it, thanks," She said before pushing forward and pulling out the soda and going to stand out of the way as the two shuffled around getting things ready for the party that they were going to enjoy on Hyeon's behalf. As she thought about her brother, her mood evaporated and she stood and walked tot he railing, her back to the group, silently sipping the drink in her hand.

As they came up Jeremy let go of Hyeon's hand and rushed to the grill to start preparing all the food. He loved to barbecue and couldn't give that job to anyone else. Jollie first sat and watched how Jeremy left but then when Tae Kyung started to walk up the stairs she ran after her her master and passed Tae Kyung whom got so surprised by the dog so he almost fell backwards. Jollie sat beside Jeremy and almost looked at him with begging eyes, she obviously wanted a piece of meat. "You have to wait like everyone else." He told her and patted her head before getting back to the barbecuing.

Tae Kyung stood in the stairs an brushed his leg with the arm of his shirt, not because that would make him cleaner. It's only for one night He told himself, that dog wouldn't be staying inside the house for long, soon it would go back to normal. It wasn't like he hated animals, it was just that they were dirty.

When he finally decided to stop trying to brush of the invisible dirt on his leg he started to go up again, everyone had already started to take drinks and seemed to enjoy themselves. Would they even notice if he disappeared for until the food was finished? He would probably be able to finish the song already tonight if he left. But then they would just complain at him if they noticed it. Working to hard, bullshit. Tae Kyung though. He were working exactly as hard as when they met four years earlier, the only difference were that now he knew better what to do and how to do a good job.

He looked around at the people and felt really tempted to just walk away while no one noticed it but then his eyes got set on the new guy, Hyeon. He walked alone instead of enjoying their time with the others. It wasn't like Tae Kyung cared or anything but it felt weird that the main attraction weren't where he should be. He walked towards him. "Oy, This party is for you so why are you over here alone? The others have worked their asses off for you, don't make them worried by going away alone like if you were depressed."

Hyeon turned to look at him and then looked back out over the city. "I'll go back in a little bit," she told him before taking a long drink of soda to give her a chance to think of some excuse as to why she was alone. She hated lying to them, but she couldn't help it. "The owner was able to get word from my sister. It seems that someone broke into where they were working and stole the van she had just gotten into. It crashed and she's in pretty bad shape. But she doesn't want me to go down there and make sure she's okay. She wants me to stay here and work my hardest until she returns." It was halfway true.

Her brother had been driving through an intersection when his car had been rammed by a truck. He hadn't died, nor lost any limbs, but he was in a coma with major injuries that would take some time to heal. It was the manager and owner that wouldn't let her go see him--"It's too dangerous if anyone sees the two of you together". And they hadn't even considered what could happen if he never woke. She would be stuck in this 'being a man' gig until they got tired of her or found out and kicked her out.

"I was just sending a little prayer to whatever beings are out there so that she won't be in pain and will heal fast," Hyeon said after a moment of silence before turning and smiling at the leader. "I'll try to be happy, Tae Kyung, so the other's won't feel bad. But if you could keep that thing about my sister quiet, I'd greatly appreciate it."

Tae Kyung looked at the boy without knowing what to say, he had never been a sentimental guy and in such situation he had no idea what to do. Well, the guys sister were going to get better so he didn't have to feel bad for it. But it still felt like he should say something about it, but what should he say? "It's not like there is a reason for me to tell the others about it. It's up to you if you want them to know or not." He said as he turned away and put the hands in his pockets. "Don't take to long." He told Hyeon before starting to walk towards the others. Smiling after telling such a thing, what was wrong with that guy?

"Shin Woo, don't forget to take it out from the fridge half an hour before it's time." Jeremy reminded Shin Woo with a grin. It was about the cake that they were going to eat after the barbecue, so that it wouldn't be to hard before it was served it must stay outside the fridge in thirty minutes before it's served. Shin Woo probably already remembered it, but it was always good to make sure.

Tae Kyung came up at Jeremy's side and when he were looking towards Shin Woo he took one of the pieces of meat with a fork that were on the grill that just had become a perfect color. Jeremy noticed it but at that time the meat piece were already in Tae Kyungs mouth. "Tae Kyung, you should wait until it's finished. The guest of honor should start you know." Jeremy complained.

Hyeon's smiled evaporated when Tae Kyung turned away and he was left alone for a little while longer. She finished her soda and went towards the group again, putting a smile on as she watched Tae Kyung steal the piece of meat and Jeremy gently scolding him. "Do not worry about it Jeremy. I'm sure you all are hungry. You don't have to wait for me to get the first piece to eat. Please, go ahead Tae Kyung if you are hungry," she said before going to the cooler and grabbing a new soda.

Shinwoo smiled and nodded his head. "I won't forget Jeremy. are we going to want to bring Tae Kyung in on it?" he asked quietly as he neared his two old friends. "We were thinking about putting candles on it and bringing it up Tae Kyung. What do you say? It'd nice to have all three of us bring it up to him as a sort of welcoming."

Jeremy choke his head in disagreement to Hyeon. "If we raise him like that then he will become to spoiled." He said trying to keep a serious face but laughed himself in the end. He turned to Shin Woo as he came with his suggestion. "Yeah, it would be best if all three of us would do it together." He agreed and turned to Tae Kyung with puppy eyes. "Please."

Tae Kyung sighted, he had told them before that he didn't want anything to do with the party for the new member. Then all of a sudden they ask him to participate and not only that, now they also wanted him to help them with taking the cake to Hyeon so that he would feel more welcomed. He was certain that he already had made clear for Hyeon that he didn't welcomed him at all, actually it was the opposite, he wanted to throw him out. Why would he suddenly do such a gentle thing? "I'm not interested in welcoming him, he will probably feel more welcomed if you two does it without me anyways." He said and gave them a reason just to see if that would help him get out of it.
