Prologue : The Red Ranger
Mission: Gain the red ranger's allegiance

The Red Gem of Zen has been located, so it's only a matter of time before either side makes their move. Obtain the gem and return it to your faction before the enemy does! Should the gem bond to anyone before then, it is up to you to persuade them to pick a side in the conflict. [ Note: This is the Prologue, and therefore scripted]

Chapter Notes:

-Kyle is not a ranger yet
-Both sides are aware of what the gem is, and where

Rewards: Hyama's Rangers gain a new member, Karkunga's Soldiers gain access to the monster laboratory.

Penalties: There are no punishments in the Prologue

It's the end of summer, and the people of Grandside are in full swing today. In fact, many of them are heading over to the museum to see a new exhibit that was just installed. A Tyrannosaurus, one that is 100% complete and is record breaking in size. This fossil has another unique detail about it, an unusual red crystal lodged in the bottom jaw of the animal. Scientist are unsure as to how to remove it without damaging the fossil, so it was left inside of it for the time being. This find was all over the news, with headlines such as "Mega T-rex at GrandSide", or "The King of Arizona", and one news channel was even bold enough to call the fossil "The Grandside Dragon". It seemed to be the only thing bystanders were talking about as well, all of them eager to see the new center piece of the museum. Little do they know, is that the this area of the city is about to become a battle ground.

Hyama [NPC] - The Hidden Temple - Under the Grandside Museum.

The monk would be watching a mini-television that had been installed recently, paying close attention to a reporter who was covering the Tyrannosaurus fossil. "That's right Johnny, Grandside finally has a Tyrannosaurus of it's very own. At 38 feet tall and 57 feet long, this is the largest find on record. This goliath, ironically named 'David', is being displayed as the new center piece of the museum. But what's most interesting about this find is not it's 100% completion, nor its size! But actually an unusual red gemstone embedded in the creature's lower jaw. As scientists are unsure as to how to remove it without damaging the fossil, they have decided to leave the crystal inside the jaw bone until they find a solution." the report would say before the TV was switched off. Hyama was glad to hear that the red gem was somewhere close by, but that did not mean that obtaining it was going to be easy. All she could do is hope that Audrey and Chase are doing what they can to ensure the gem dose not end up in Karkunga's claws. But just in case they did not get the news, she felt it necessary to message them through their morphers. "Attention Rangers, I am contacting you to inquire about your progress on obtaining the Red Gem of Zen. What is your situation?" she said calmly, hoping that the power of invincibility was not already taken by the evil tyrant.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Karkunga [NPC] - The Blight Bringer (Karkunga's flag Ship) - Earth's Orbit

The ship was bustling with movement, warriors sharpened and loaded their weapons, pilots stabilized the ship's orbit and monitored it's systems, engineers continued any needed repairs to the interior, and scientists were hard at work assembling monstrosities in the monster lab. An alarm would sound with a green flashing light as a platform with a throne descended from the ceiling and into the command center. "Captain on deck!" A lizard man would call out as he bowed before the mighty Karkunga, who was sitting in the throne. With a slam to the floor with his crocodile-like tail, the whole room would fall to their knees in sea of both respect and fear. "Status Report! Where's the Red gem!?" Demanded Karkunga, as a very lanky bird-like alien responded displaying a monitor to the overlord. "Sir, our surveillance satellite lost visual of the gem, but has triangulated its position to be in this area!" it said feeling slightly composed. Karkunga remained silent, but it didn't take long for him to make crocodile grin. "Excelent, Send Samuel to retrieve it at once!" He demanded. Now all that was in between Him and the Red gem was wishful thinking.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kyle Anderson - Grandside Museum

Kyle had arrived at the museum to see the Tyrannosaurus like everyone else, though not for the same reason as everyone else. He was here to take his mind off of things, primarily his sister's condition. Though it wasn't entirely working, it did calm him down a bit. Out of curiosity, he wanted to see if he could find that 'red gem' everyone was fussing about on the news. It didn't take long to do so, but man was it shiny. Kyle watched as it practically glinted in the sunlight from the skylight of the room, and he wasn't the only one who seemed to take an interest in it. "It's smaller than I pictured it to be, but how did it get there?" he said to himself, It couldn't have eaten it while it was alive... Could it? Soon after, the thought of his sister came back to him, and was once again concerned about his financial situation. How was he going to make the money for an operation to help Sabrina? A dark though would then seed itself into Kyle's mind. That Gem was probably worth MILLIONS of dollars, maybe even billions considering what it's attached to. But Kyle then brushed off that thought, "No, no way I could do something like that." he said to himself once more... he couldn't, just steal the gem.

Samuel was working at a demolition site at the location of an old hotel that needed tearing down. Sam didn't exactly know why the building needed to be torn down as the building itself was in top shape despite its long history. But he heard rumors from fellow colleagues that the owners gave the land over to a big-shot corporation that wanted to build a structure with more "Adequate" architecture.
So there Sam was, chipping away at a concrete support beam with a sledgehammer as the hot sun glared from above. "Jesus, cant it rain just once in this town?", he mutters to himself while wiping sweat from his brow. As he prepares to swing his hammer his morpher begins beeping, signaling he was needed. Immediately dropping the hammer he takes out the alien device and stares at it, waiting to be commanded.

Well, it looked like she wasn't meant to meet her new roommates today. Chase had moved into her apartment a few weeks ago, as soon as it had been vacated, and today was supposed to be when she finally got to meet the people she was going to live with during her sophomore year. The news about the new discovery had caught her attention as soon as she turned on the TV. It sounded too much like the red gem that she had no choice but to investigate. Duty calls, she thought to herself as she entered the museum. It was beyond easy to find the skeleton in question even without listening to the excited chatter of the crowd. She didn't know where Audrey was yet but hoped to find her fellow Ranger soon.

Chase's morpher beeped. A quick sidestep into one of the empty hallways later, she heard Hyama asking after her progress. "Just entered the museum," she reported quietly. "With how much the news is hyping it up, I doubt we'll be the only ones here. I'm going to see how hard it will be to take the gem." Entering the exhibit's room, her eyes were instantly drawn to the embedded gem, already having an idea of what to look for. Not gonna be easy to sneak up and take it.

Frowning, she moved in closer without care to the people she absently brushed past. Her hands rested on the barrier keeping the public from coming too close. Chase's gaze drifted down from the gem and swept the crowd, hoping to catch sight of anyone suspicious... Or Audrey. Preferably Audrey, of course.

Audrey was training in her normal gym before classes began, she was the only one in there and kept the television on for the extra company. The news kept her company, it felt like someone was there. She felt her blood pumping as she worked out, preparing herself for whatever came her way. It wasn't a secret that Audrey found herself getting more worried each day about the red gem. The strength of it was enough to make any new ranger into a leader, but if it fell in the wrong hands they would lose yet another gem to Karkunga.

It was then the news started to announce the new exhibit and the strange red gem in the jaw of the Tyrannosaurus. Audrey stopped, panting hard from her work out. Heart pounding from both the work out and from the news. "That has to be the gem, I need to get there now.'

Audrey didn't have time to change out of her work out attire, she threw on a jacket to cover her sports bra up and got into her car to head straight to the museum. On her way out of the car and up the stairs she got the message on her morpher. "We have eyes on it now, so it's safe. It will be hard to take it with the crowds that are here." She had to get past all the people and inside quickly. They needed a plan to get the gem before it was too late.

Audrey scanned the crowds, looking for Chase who she hoped was here already. When she finally spotted Chase she made a bee line to her, pushing past a few people who gave her dirty glances. "Hey, this must be it. So, what is the plan? Sneak in after the museum is closed? Do we need to hang out here all day and make sure no one tries anything?"

Karkunga [NPC]

No sooner than when Samuel answered his morpher was he given orders by the big man himself, the tyrant would spoke in a tone of urgency as he knew what it would mean if Hyama were to get a hold of the red gem. "We have located the Red Gem of Zen, we are sending you coordinates now." Karkunga paused as he looked over to one of his computer operators, signaling them with a nod. With a few button presses, a signal was sent out to Samuel informing him on where to go. Right after that however, a Lizard-like alien approached him and addressed himself with a bow. "By lord, the monster laboratory is fully operational. We have a monster ready for deployment on your command" he said to his commander. A smug grin found it's self upon Karkunga's face, "Excellent, Should you need reinforcements Samuel all you need to do is say so. Now get moving!" He demanded, as he disconnected the communication link. Karkunga then turned his attention back to the screens of the surveillance satellite, and awaited for further information to display itself.

Hyama [NPC]

Reassured by the quick response of her rangers, Hyama said only one last thing to both of them before cutting communications. "Take care Rangers, and be careful. There's no telling what Karkunga and his minions are scheming." She would say, and would then proceed to stroll through the temple and into a hidden chamber of which Chase and Audrey are unaware of... The Hall of memories, a large room with a control panel and a massive hologram projector table in the middle of it. Hyama would use the panel to search for a certain file in the data bank. it took only a few moments to do so, and a few moments more to display it on the hologram projector. "Hold on a little longer my friend, My ranger's will see to it that Karkunga doesn't take your soul too." She would say with a tear in her eye.

Kyle

He couldn't do it, Kyle couldn't shake the thought of stealing the gem any more. Although not much time has passed, it seemed like a while ago since he thought of the idea. At first it seemed like an idea for a joke, steal the gem and then hide it in another exhibit for some laughs. On the other hand though his sister wasn't getting any better, his father made enough money for the three of them to get by but it wasn't going to get Sabrina the care she needed anytime soon. So Kyle now began thinking of two things, how was he going to steal the gem? And who was going to purchase it if he did? Kyle thought it best to plan out the former of the two first, as that seemed to be the most glaring issue.

If scientists could pull it out (or more accurately could but didn't want to damage the fossil), the Kyle would need put a lot of muscle just to pull it out. The gem was jutting out from the very back and the very bottom of the right side of the jaw bone, so it was at a bit of a funny angle to get to. Then there's the fact that it's over 30 feet off the ground, Why did this thing had to die being so tall? Just getting up there is going to be a chore, never mind that it's stuck in the bottom jaw. I guess I could climb up one of its legs and onto the back, then it's just a balancing act to the skull. He thought to him self, that seemed like something that could work. If he could get to the skull ha could climb down the top of it and try and pull the gem out from it. Now there was just the matter of trying to get the gem, he couldn't do it now with all these people here. What Kyle needed was a distraction, anything would really do, a robbery, a gas leak, some bratty kid pulling the fire alarm, ANYTHING to get these people out of here... or at least looking away from the T-rex for a good long while.

Sam growls,"Grandside Museum?, the most important source of power in the universe is locked away in some glorified antique shop?", he says incredulously while running towards the museum not too far down the road from where the construction site is. As he legs it towards the target location he thinks to himself rapidly,"Once I get this gem master wants so much he'll finally grant me my wish", Sam muses in his head as the museum comes into view.
Sam decides not to morph just yet as he wants to surprise his enemies who will no doubt be there trying to retrieve the gem for their self righteous master. As he finally reaches the museum steps he stops and takes a short breather before walking inside and looking around. The coordinates only told him what the building the gem is located in, not its precise location.

Chase let out a sigh of relief on sighting her fellow Ranger. "Not sure yet. It's a new exhibit so people will be around all day for a week or so, but we can't wait that long and risk someone else getting their hands on the gem," she planned quietly, unwilling to be overheard by the crowd. She bit her lip and examined the gem again. It was at such a terrible angle and height... "We'll probably have to stay all day and slip into HQ at closing, try to get it then."

Hopefully that would be fine. As long as no one else made a move for the gem, it should work. "Looks like it's time to play babysitter. Hope you didn't have anything to do today like I did."

Audrey observed the gem again, trying to think of what would even be the best way to get it out. It was going to be noticeable once it was missing, and could destroy the poor fossil. If the scientists who discovered the fossil couldn't undo it without risking destroying or harming the fossil then she wasn't sure it would be possible even for a Ranger. "I had a couple of classes that I will have to get rescheduled or moved around. This is more important," Audrey thought more about it, it couldn't be too hard to reach once they morphed. They could get up there but they would need more than just their fists to undo the gem. "We should take turns watching it and have one of us look around the museum for the best way to extract it. I wonder if they have any prehistorical tools around here. Or we might need to find something nearby, like a hardware store, that we can attack it with. I don't think clawing it with our bare hands will work, but we can try it." Audrey also spoke in a hushed tone, not wanting people to hear what sounded, and was actually, a robbery. Should they also find a replacement for it? No, that would be impossible to replicate a Power Ranger's gem. The way that it glowed, the feeling you got when seeing it, nothing could be mistaken for it. They would just have to lay low and make sure the gem got to a safe place or they would find themselves in trouble with not only Karkunga and the rangers but also the local police.
