Music and plot bunnies pretty much go hand in hand for me. Sometimes I look for songs to fit something, but more often than not, I'll be listening to a song then give TONS OF IDEAS.

Because this is romance month, this poll is about LOVE SONGS!

Do you have a favorite romantic song that tells a story - or has inspired you for a story?

Don't forget to SHARE the song!

Yesssss.
Remember this roleplay, Diadia? XD
I get inspired by so much random music. Lots of romance ones end up in that pile.

Gah there is one that I'm currently obsessed with but I don't want to reveal it because I'm actually working with it for the Radio Show. I'll give you a hint though, it's from The Script.

Other than this though, no I haven't listened to a romantic song before and been inspired to write a story. However, listening to a song (perhaps paired up with a music video) has made me cry before. These aren't happy ending songs either, they're ones about one losing the significant other because of a disease, or falling in love when they were young but being ripped apart because of a war, or living at an old age and having lost your loved one.

Yes, they're Chinese songs. I can't understand the lyrics btw, so most of what I can gather is from the music video or translations.

Wo Ai Ni is an awesome song.... Never thought to look for a vid of it!

I've had roleplays and characters inspired on love songs, but they've never been romantic stories

'Bye Bye Beautiful' by Nightwish helped me define the role of an old character Dahren; he was a general in the Dark Legions during the war, but now that the good guys have won, he's a leftover dredge of a fallen empire looking for revenge on the hero who toppled it.

Finally the hills are without eyes
They are tired of painting a dead man's face red with their own blood
They used to love having so much to lose
Blink your eyes just once
And see everything in ruins
Did you ever hear what I told you?
Did you ever read what I wrote you?
Did you ever listen to what we played
Did you ever let in what the world said?
Did we get this far just to feel your hate
Did we play to become only pawns in the game
How blind can you be, don't you see?
You chose the long road, but we'll be waiting
BYE BYE BEAUTIFUL!

"If I had $1,000,000" by the Barenaked Ladies inspired a plot about a person who's never been rich, but suddenly finds themselves penniless except for a simple android meant to help with household chores. It's the story about someone trying to achieve just the simple pleasures in life.

If I had a million dollars (if I had a million dollars)
We wouldn't have to walk to the store!
(We'd take a limousine cause it costs more)
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner
(But we would eat kraft dinner?)
Of course we would, we'd just eat more!
(And buy really expensive ketchups with it!)
All the fanciest - Dijon ketchups! Mmm....

"Monster" by Skillet inspired a character who is on a quest to keep the Dark Lord of Evil McEvilface from reincarnating... in HIS body

I feel it deep within
It's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I
FEEL LIKE A MONSTER
I hate what I've become
This nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I
FEEL LIKE A MONSTER
It's hiding in the dark
It's teeth are razor sharp
There's no escape for me
it wants my soul it wants my hart
No one can hear me scream
Maybe it's just a dream
Maybe it's inside of me
I must confeess that I

FEEL LIKE A MONSTER

I actually have lots of "favorite" romantic songs. So here are a few.

This song really inspires me.

I love writing romance, or anything really to this song:

And this one:

Poison - Groove Coverage

I'm all about forbidden love. :3 Or wanting things you know you shouldn't.

Become by The Goo Goo Dolls

Really, the song doesn't have to have lyrics that are romantic. It's the sound that attract my muses. Almost anything by the goo goo dolls, really.
Dizzy puts me in edgy moods, slide makes my heart melt, broadway = empathy, really the list goes on.

Goot music on youtube is pretty rad too. His covers and his songs are really sweet and always put me in these cutesy moods.

I Don't Have Time To Be In Love-Priscilla Ahn ... that's the only one I can remember the title to right now.

I'm not sure if it's a love song in the sense you guys mean, but I am always inspired by Rammstein's take on the subject.

White Flag by Dido is one, but there's a lot of songs that make me feel like writing just because of how they sound.

This is the only romance song I'll ever listen too.

I have had several. Romantic and Not. Way to many to count to be honest.
