Story: In the modern day, a dimension of magic came into contact with our dimension and altered our dimension and certain physical properties of the universe. Magic became reality, a reality we were ultimately not ready for. Accidental caused more deaths to occur due to humans suddenly gaining magic, and diamonds became a vacuum to absorb magic. The average diamond couldn't contain the power of the magic of the dead human, and the soul that was inevitably dragged along with it.
Once this connection was found, most who created societies forbade them. A chance accident with a paranoid man is the first to discover the diamonds approximately the size of a man's thumb has the capacity for a human soul. He discovers this is a powerful tool and his rising ruthlessness causes him to become a powerful warlord, using these methods to gain strength and intimidate anyone who he can into joining him. An alliance with him was always beneficial however, so he kept his allies because he knew it was best to keep the people happy. And in exchange for pay and their people going to his military, he guaranteed he could protect them and allowed them to have safe trade with their neighbors. Life in his society was pretty close to before the world ended. This RP will be about my character, the heavily localized lords he has under him and their political machinations building up to a war with another large city-state.
Mechanics: Magical power favors those who are aggressive and those with a deficiency with empathy, it's not a perfect one-to-one, but there is strong correlation. There are exceptions to all things, and one such exception are the gods. Humans who have gained affinity over a certain aspect of the world and have magical influence over it.
The idea: I want it to be a game of thrones style play of political intrigue and shows of force.
Plot: I play the warlord, and some people whose only condition for working under them was keeping their people safe because they had built a self sustaining society with their single powerful protector, and one of the gods. You will be playing one of three local leaders of North, East and West. The Vancouver, Washington Metro area is the real world area this will be based off of.
Requirements: Minimum Intermediate and up. Would prefer if people knew the area.
