The continent of Semideus; A land Pokémon have lived in since before the founding of the Federation. Formerly known as a rather peaceful land where teams of the Rescue variety weren't considered necessary, Semideus has recently found itself in a much darker situation. Over the past year, Semideus has been plagued by an increase of criminals and vicious Pokémon all over the continent, attacks becoming more and more common as the days go on. While Pokémon suffered, it did allow for an increase in business for those willing to take up work at one of the guilds dotting the lands.

While it's truly unknown what has caused the sudden crime spike, there have been rumors about Pokémon who were only considered to be myths roaming the continent, and survivors of attacks have claimed that the feral Pokemon seem to have almost lifeless eyes, as if they weren't in control of their actions. Rumors have spread of a Pokémon with psychic powers beyond myths and legend that has a vendetta against the world, and plans on destroying everything in a slow, grueling fashion. But there has been no confirmation on this being's identity, or any facts to prove this individual even exists. There currently are no leads in the Federation's investigation.

But if something isn't done soon, the continent will soon find itself as a land of chaos and violence that cannot be stopped. Whatever is the cause, it must be stopped at all cost, or the entire world could meet a terrible fate.

On a normal night like any other, action was taken, however. A large beam of light shot down from the crescent moon in the sky, and brought forth three individuals from another world to combat this threat. Though they are met with an unfamiliar world and currently no direction, soon they will find themselves locked in a battle that could decide the fate of the entire Pokémon world as everyone knows it.

Will the moon's light prevail, or will the darkness of the night devour it? Only time will tell...

CHAPTER LIST

Prologue
Fall of The Chosen

'On a normal night like any other, action was taken, however.'

-

Humans

The beginning of your long journey in the world of Pokemon. Three humans find themselves in an unfamiliar forest, and discover they have been transformed into Pokemon. Unknowing of the quest ahead of them they find themselves attempting to traverse the forest to find civilization and answers, while also trying to adapt to their new bodies.

Little did they know of the trouble that awaited in the trees...

-
Pokemon

The large beam of light has struck the interest of the Snorlax Guild, and Snorlax's right-hand Pokemon, Noctowl, is currently dealing with the result of it. Pokemon in the Guild's home of Suttecliff Dwelling are concerned, and even some of the guild members are too terrified to investigate. As Noctowl demands for a team to step forward and take the job, four Pokemon find themselves stepping up to the task. They head out towards the landing site of the moon beam, in Apicot Woods. With the simple mission of investigation.

Little did they know this job was much bigger than they expected.

CHAPTER 1 LOCKED

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LOCATIONS
More locations around Semideus become revealed as the story unfolds.
Suttecliff Dwelling
Built into the side of the large cliff overlooking Suttecliff Cove, Suttecliff Dwellings is perhaps the safest town in the Pokemon world. Renowned across the known world for its natural beauty and unique structure, the bustling town was carefully carved into the cliff over 100 years ago. Today, it is home to a bustling market, an active Exploration guild and over 151 inhabitants. A small, heavily-guarded tunnel connects Suttecliff to the surface and a dock in a sea cave below the town connects it to the ocean. Due to the isolated nature of the town, it is easily protected from attacks by bandits and is a popular destination for those escaping hardship. Just a five minute walk from the cliff is Apricot Forest, one of the first so-called "mystery dungeons" Explorers typically come across.
The Snorlax Guild, run by Guildmaster Snorlax and his ever-suffering deputy, Noctowl, is a well-respected establishment in Suttecliff and has produced several excellent explorers through the years. Though Guildmaster Snorlax's name holds great weight (Both figuratively and literally) in Suttecliff, few seem to truly respect his opinion, due to his slow thinking ability and his habit of putting faith in those whose ideals don't match the Guilds.
Marshal Brewer, a Scrafty, acts as the head of the towns Scraggy police force (which is also a town guard of sorts). Their authority extends for miles into Semideus. Brewer is a very strict, by-the-book Marshal and often butts heads with the Guild over their unorthodox manner in which they capture criminals.
The local mayor is Cespo, an inexperienced Lombre who relies heavily on others to do his work for him. Despite his laziness, Cespo is popular around the Suttecliff for his easy-going (and some would argue, easily influenced) attitude. Other notable inhabitants include; Smokey, the Guild slacker who has lived in Suttecliff longer than most, The Shuckle Brothers, Shuckly and Chuckster, who own a local general goods stall, Sydra, a Nidoqueen who runs a warehouse storage system and bank, Burbon, the owner of the Bug Pub, a cafe ran by Bug-Type Pokemon, Roke and Sulk, a Sawk and Throh duo who both run opposite sides of the same Dojo, claiming to be entirely different Dojo's altogether, and Clef, the local move tutoring Clefairy.
Lately, the town has been abuzz with rumours of dark forces converging deep in the wilderness and the hostility of Pokemon from several areas. The Guild has become much more active in recent times as attacks and robberies on peaceful Pokemon by bandits and other "wild" Pokemon have become common. As the world grows more dangerous and unusual events are becoming a daily occurrence, it seems Suttecliff Dwellings will need the Snorlax Guild more than ever.
-
Apicot Woods
Threat Level: 2/10
A forest that is encountered when heading to and from Suttecliff Dwelling. It is a usually quiet and peaceful forest filled with Grass, Bug, and Flying-Type Pokemon, with what is said to be the freshest air in Semideus. Like most Mystery Dungeons, Apicot Woods seems to one way or another shift and become different every time you enter. Therefor making it impossible to map out the forest and have a direct route out without the proper equipment.
Recently, the Pokemon have become more vicious. The bigger dangers of Apicot Woods include poison attacks, and paralysis attacks. Bringing berries is advised, but be careful with berries found on the forest floor, as Bug-Types are known to inject them with their poison to weaken their prey. There has been talk around the Snorlax Guild about a gang of Flying-Type Pokemon in the are, and caution is advised to anyone who enters.
RULES
1
For posts, I'll be expecting 2-3 decent paragraphs of content.
I don't plan on leaving anyone behind, so plan on this RP being a little slow. I'd like everyone to get a post in before any of us post again, though if I find the RP halted for too long I will progress the plot while trying to keep the inactive member's character in the roleplay. If I cannot contact the inactive member within a few days, I'll have to remove their character, and if they wish to join up again at a later date, they'll have to make a new character and work with me to write them into the story.
2
While I am the GM of this RP, my pal, Chapatrap, is just as much in charge. When I'm not around, he'll usually be there to answer questions and sentence divine justice upon you all when necessary, but he's a pretty laid back guy, so don't worry about 'em. He doesn't bite, or anything. Though if he does bite you, let me know. Because that's bad.
3
Don't ask to be in human form while in the PMD Universe.
This is more common than you think, and I hate it.
There's a bunch of obvious things I shouldn't have to explain, too. Like godmodding. And yiffing.
Don't do that shit.
"I don't really understand what's happening, but I'll help if I can."
-Name-
Desmond Ludwik
(Goes by Ludwik once he is a Pokemon.)
-Species-
Magby
-Gender-
Male
-Ability-
Flame Body
-Level-
5
-Moves-
-Smog
-Leer
-Ember
-
-Personality-
Desmond is a kind and caring individual, often putting the needs of others before his own. Specifically the needs of his Pokemon, as he shows more kindness towards them than anyone else, considering his faithful companions to be family through thick and thin. Able to help him overcome most obstacles that Desmond has faced in life. Generally, Desmond appears as collected, and intelligent.
His knowledge of both his home region and the Pokemon in it shows he had been dedicated in his quest for knowledge before taking off on his own adventure. He has set goals in his mind for what he wishes to do, but knows that he is not talented enough to tackle said goals yet; Leaving him to try and improve his skills at any chance he got, though not if the circumstances bothered him, as he dislikes putting himself and his Pokemon in danger when it wasn't necessary, though when in the moment, he can, and has, made reckless decisions.
Now having become a Pokemon himself, Desmond finds himself fascinated with the new world around him, wishing to learn about it and it's inhabitants. He shows a similar amount of care towards others as he did as a human, finding himself conflicted when it comes to fighting if it seems unnecessary, usually serving more as a supportive figure in the team with his large amount of Pokemon knowledge, as well as the few things that carry true between his world and the one he's now stuck in, aiding the others in finding the best way to solve a situation.
He's the first to step up when somebody is in danger, however. Not willing to stand by and watch as something happens, especially if it involves one of his friends or an innocent bystander is in trouble. He'll jump into the fight, and do the best he can, though sometimes endangers himself too much.
-Backstory-
Son of a Pokemon Professor and a Pokemon Nurse, Desmond was born in Phenac City of the Orre Region. Being raised by a father who studied Pokemon, Desmond followed in his footsteps and heavily focused on studying on the many things the world had to offer him. He learned everything a trainer should know before ever even considering his own Pokemon; Status effects, type effectiveness, berries and their different effects, along with much more. By the age of 14 he was so used to cramming himself full of knowledge, he forgot about even becoming a Pokemon Trainer.
It was only when his father mentioned other types of Pokemon study that Desmond was given a reason to become a Pokemon Trainer. Unlike most professors, Desmond's father researched the emotions of Pokemon. While this not only allowed him to bond closely with Pokemon, it also served as a way to handle another outbreak of Shadow Pokemon, if Orre was to ever be burdened with them again.
Fascinated by the idea of studying the emotions of Pokemon, Desmond picked his first partner, a Mareep he named Fluff, and left home in search of knowledge. And, eventually, he actually liked adventuring, so the exploration factor was nice for him, too. He had traveled from city to city, meeting wonderful people and solving his small share of problems, having defeated the singular Gym located in Orre, the Pre-Gym in his hometown of Phenac.
Though he was a fairly good trainer, Desmond never searched for power. Only knowledge. As long they were strong enough to be safe, Desmond wasn't concerned with training, or battling. Just researching as he went along. It was a 2 year journey he took, and now at the age of 16, he has returned home for some rest and some note-sharing with his father.
... Little did Desmond expect that the night he decided to go home, and rest peacefully, that he'd end up on a journey he couldn't have ever studied enough for.
Name: Saltire
Species: Skiddo
Gender: Male
Ability: Sap Sipper
Level: 8
Personality:
Saltire is a friendly, cheerful young Pokemon with a lust for adventure. Some of the older members of the guild think of him as a naive rookie, with his head in the clouds and his hooves in the muck but if they say it to his face, it doesn't seem to effect him. It would seem nothing deters the young Skiddo but he hides an embarrassing secret. Saltire is afraid of the dark. The poor Skiddo has never outgrown his childhood fear and has never even told any guildmates for fear of ridicule. When faced with an assignment involving a dark cave or an abandoned building, Saltire will usually try to weasel out of doing it alone, to the suspicion of Noctowl. When spooked by his fears, he is known to become hysteric with fear, forgetting everything and thinking only of his own safety. He has avoided becoming extremely spooked since joining the Guild with great care Luckily, his guildmates have largely stayed ignorant of his fear, save for the occasional rumour.
Saltire enjoys his time in the Guild and travels home to see his mother and sister when he can. His mother raised him to respect everyone, a rule which Saltire tries to adhere by. As a country bumpkin with no formal education, he is illiterate and speaks with a thick rural accent. But for what he lacks in brains he more than makes up for in optimism and diligence.
Backstory:
Saltire comes from an idyllic countryside village, tucked among the plains to the far west. Before living in Suttecliff, he lived simply with his mother and older sister, in a tiny straw hut. They made a living off of growing berries and his mother was a skilled, if untrained, botanist. In those days, the world was a much safer place. Pokemon could sleep soundly or travel at night without worrying. However, Saltire still stayed close by his mother when darkness fell. For as long as he could remember, Saltire had been terrified of the dark. This phobia of the night puzzled his mother when he refused to grow out of it. During the day, Saltire pranced around the village fearlessly, fearing nothing and no one. Yet when the sun went down, he would rush home and dive under the covers of his bed, too terrified to even glance out of the window.
As he grew older, Saltires fear of the dark stabilized but remained. He could sleep without a candle, as long as someone was nearby and he could even tolerate standing in dark areas by himself for brief periods. The Skiddo had racked his brains his entire life as to why he cannot tolerate the darkness but is yet to come up with a plausible answer. Saltire never showed much interest in a career in exploring as a young Pokemon and was seemingly content with growing up in his tiny village. However, one event in his childhood changed his life forever.
As times grew dangerous, more and more Exploration teams found themselves staying near his village. Not all these teams had good intentions, however. On one occasion, a bandit team staying near the town robbed the only store and ran off with all the goods. Saltire bravely left his town with a group of his friends, ignoring the warnings of his mother and confronted the thieves. Saltire and his friends were beaten to a pulp, of course but their cries of pain attracted the attention of a more powerful Exploration team, who saved them and ran the team out of town. The team were hailed as heroes and Saltire, inspired by their selfless deeds, decided to follow in their footsteps. He was going to help Pokemon in any way he could. Following the advice of the victorious team, he traveled to Suttecliff and joined the local guild.
A year has passed since first joining the guild and Saltire has settled into guild life well. Following the advice of his mother, he has worked hard and does his best to stay on good terms with most of his Guildmates. However, his fear of the dark still bogs him down while exploring particular areas. He has successfully kept his phobia a secret from the guild, fearing ridicule or even expulsion but for how long he can keep up the charade, he doesn't know.
250px-280Ralts.png
-Name-
Circe
-Species-
Ralts
-Gender-
Female
-Ability-
Trace: Copies the Ability of an opponent (cannot copy Multitype, Illusion, Flower Gift, Imposter, or Stance Change). It is entirely involuntary and will automatically mimic the Ability (if mimicry is possible) of the first hostile pokemon to get close enough.
-Level-
7
-Moves-
Confusion, Double Team, Growl
-Personality-
Circe is extremely expressive and hyperactive. As her kind can naturally sense the emotions of others she makes a point of remaining positive and friendly to help others feel the same, the happier feelings she feels around her the happier she gets herself. She is also a pathological liar, and frequently lies about completely inconsequential things (very rarely does she lie about anything of any notable importance), most often about her gender though her name is something of a giveaway in this case and she intentionally does so in regard to her gender as there is often confusion about it with her species. Despite her frequent lying however she will readily admit to lying if asked, though getting the actual truth from her is a much more difficult endeavor.
Circe (ironically) hates when people lie to her because between her natural ability to sense emotion and of course her Psychic type powers she can almost always tell when someone is lying to her and she finds it rather annoying (just like her mother). Because of her abilities and extroverted personality she is extremely sensitive, and tends to overreact when people are critical of her or in any way mean to her, she doesn't remain in any negative emotional state for very long however.
In her training with her mother, she was taught to never stay in one place for long and to keep on the move, taunting and distracting her opponent(s) to make them leaving openings for her attacks.
-Backstory-
Circe and her family have lived rather far from any village or town since her elder brother was born because of their ability to read emotion can give young children of their kind a lot of problems until they learn to deal with their power properly. Because she grew up rarely meeting other people she became extremely extroverted, loving the chance to meet new people and be around others. Once her brother evolved into a Kirlia and Circe was old enough to handle her abilities they moved to the nearest village to settle down. Circe quickly became infamous for being extremely friendly and extremely troublesome as her hyperactivity was rather infectious to the other children in the village.
At first despite both Circe and her brother wanting to join the local Guild their parents refused to allow it because of the potential danger, which they understood full well as Circe's mother was a (former) member of a different guild from her hometown, though Circe remained especially stubborn about it. Her brother moved on however and joined their father as a traveling merchant. It took weeks of stubborn begging before Circe's mother finally relented and gave her some basic training so she would be ready for lower level missions. Once her mother finally let her go join the Guild, she couldn't have been more excited. She hasn't been assigned to a team yet and as such has yet to go on any missions of her own but she's nonetheless ready and eager for adventure.
-Name-
Tasha Froxter
-Species-
Snorunt.
-Gender-
Girl.
-Ability-
Ice Body.
-Level-
5
-Moves-
Powder snow, Leer, Double team.
-Personality-
A fine line goes between her having full control, and descending into hopeless chaos. Is usually pretty straight forward, and won't ever get very rude. She will at most times attempt getting a leader's view at a situation, and complain if she isn't allowed. Will possibly also start complaining whenever something down to pretty minor is wrong, but can keep calm.
She was never taught much about social interaction, and may seem clumsy when approached one on one. Her strength is rather in general knowledge; being rather fresh on anything but cathching Pokémon, she can quickly add two and two and get things right. Tactics was again Zacharia's thing, and as such she lacks in that.
"It's fine, just let me do it."
"Where are we? What's going on? WHAT?"
"Gah, it's hot. I never went to places as hot as this."
"Sigh, if only Zachariah was here, he'd know what to do."
-Backstory-
Her childhood wasn't anything to write home about. She was born and raised in Sinnoh with both parents present, never with a plan of becoming a trainer. One day in her late teen years she met Zachariah, and they immediately fell in love. They travelled the world for about a year, almost never settling to stay anywhere. Along the way they captured several Pokémon, planning on fulfilling on Zachariah's dream of becoming a gym trainer. Having mutual love for ice, most of their travels took place in cold areas. As an example of this, their final adventure was on a mountain under a blizzard. Initially underestimating the storm, they got separated. Zachariah found himself in a mountainside village, and conveniently this was the time at which Tasha was transformed into a Pokémon. Currently unable of seeing him again, she panicks.
Mystery dungeons are new to her, and a concept difficult to grasp. Her new body will also prove a big problem. Despite having some hiking experience, little will be applicable to this world. Without Zachariah, she will have trouble focusing at first, and will not be in a good mood overall. She can learn general facts about aspects of this world, then proving to be a great information source, although tactis is not her good side.
-Personality-
Vee is a strong-willed Meinfoo who will do whatever it takes to protect her friends. However, she will appear snarky in the beginning or in general. She means no harm in future comments.
-Backstory-
Vera is originally from Bordeaux, France and was raised with class. Unfortunately, Vera did not appreciate the fancy things given to her and preferred to challenge herself in life; thus her parents looked 'away' from her often. She enjoyed going to extra curricular programs and favored American Boxing but when she joined a boxing program, the girl was quickly snatched out of it and placed in a more "female-friendly" environment; ballet classes. With extreme hate, she ran off with another relative to live a life she desired.
* I do not enjoy writing a background story or a personality sometimes, as I much rather develop it within a story.
Well, this is it. I've got it set up!
Iwaku is really neat, the coding is fantastic compared to what I'm used to.
Feel free to look over the info I actually have put up so far. The Overview includes chapters and locations, (At least what we need to know for now, more will be added as we make progress.) and the character sheet is in the Cast List, along with my character, and Chap's. I'll try to keep everything clean and organized, so expect to see your characters in there too.
Unless you're some kind of god-tier explorer right off the bat. Then you can just g e t o u t.
I was reading the interest check and saw this, does this mean your app isn't completed?
I like it so far.
Well yes, compared to yours it's a little thin. Will beef it up when I'm on a computer.
Thanks for liking it! She's a new character to me, although I did use Zachariah to roleplay back in the days of roleplaying on Facebook.
Aah, I see. I hate trying to type out stuff when I'm not on my computer, such a pain.
I so rarely get the chance to start a roleplay that I've had Ludwik as a character for years and have only gotten to use him twice.
He's supposed to actually be a Pokemon, but then I realized how closely he resembled one of my actual human characters, so I mixed them together to fit me ending up in a human role.
She can learn general facts about aspects of this world, then proving to be a great information source, although tactis is not her good side.
Accepted and added to the Cast List.
You wouldn't mind if I slapped a picture of a Snorunt on the CS, would'ja? Just for the sake of everyone having a picture.
Today might be a bit slow on my end, but I'll be checking in for accepting our last character, and answering any questions if you guys have 'em.
No problem with a picture.
Also, no problem. Ought to be patient.
We've got a good spread of characters, I'm looking forward to starting!
How are teams going to work? Are we splitting off into twos or threes or will it be all characters in one team?
well so far its just us four so that works fine for a team, in the games a lot of the most notable teams were groups of three so 4 should be ok, if not we can split into two pairs
is there anyone else we might be waiting on for a character?
I'll be splitting us into two groups if all six players are present.
If the two others that showed interest don't actually show up, I'll just keep the group as one team. All that'd require is a tiny bit of rewriting on my part, so it'd be fine.
I'll be giving the other two some more time, but if nothing comes up within too long, we'll start.
Not letting this die due to inactivity.
Should possibly tag the two we're waiting for, or is that rude?
well we are just waiting on them, while I'm the type that's patient to a fault at this point it might be best, who are we waiting on again?
