  • Welcome, to Theralune.

  • w06iwz.jpg
Theralune has long been a nation of relative peace. Civil war, rebellion, and crime plague its past, as for any nation, but no great calamities have tarnished its history. However, rumors have been spreading of curious experiments taking place on the northern island of Komiir, home of the ever-tinkering gnomes. They say they've been experimenting with genetic mutations in pokemon, working to create a powerful force to aid in the advancement of Theralune. Unfortunately, the gnomes were not prepared to control what they created and now, word spreads of a mighty beasts ravaging the lands, growing, feeding, and reproducing. It is not yet known what this creature is, but the king of the gnomes has summoned the greatest heroes from across the lands to combine their efforts into tracking it down, and defeating it. There's loot in it for all, but more than that, the threat, if left unmanaged, could mean destruction for all.

    2cxjc6c.jpg

In an adventure of pokemon, high fantasy, and table-top feels, you and your team will work together to stop this mutated beast from overrunning the lands. Play as an elf, a dwarf, a human, or a gnome, and venture out into a world filled with pokemon to track down the mutant and talk some sense into the pesky, meddling royal gnome tinkerers. This isn't a gym-based story, nor is it a classic ten-year-old-on-a-journey tale. No, this is a grand, fantasic adventure. Our story begins, in a tavern, as all the best do.

  • 2uhsphs.jpg

Combat is based on a simple level system explained below:
    • Common pokemon can level up to level 10.
    • Rare pokemon can level up to level 15
    • Legendaries can level up to level 20
    • Type advantages add +2 levels to any pokemon, for that battle
    • Type disadvantages remove -2 levels from any pokemon for that battle
Any pokemon can enter into a battle with a pokemon up to 1 level above it, once all calculations have been done. There are three tiers of battle: easy, medium, and hard. This will be explained using a lvl 5 fire type.
    • Easy: Pokemon BELOW your pokemon's level (ex: =/<4, with advantage, =/<6)
    • Medium: Pokemon at an EQUAL level to your pokemon's (ex: =5, with advantage =7)
    • Hard: Pokemon ONE LEVEL ABOVE your pokemon's. (ex: =/>6, with advantage, =/>8)
In each battle, the difficulty will indicate which roll you need to be successful. Required rolls are as follows:
    • Easy: =/>5 on d20
    • Medium: =/> 10 on d20
    • Hard: =/>15 on d20
To go after pokemon of higher levels, such as legendaries, you will need to utilize a teamwork method called "Stacking." This means you utilize numerous pokemon of the same level to gain additional levels for each. For example:
    • Facing a level 15 Legendary with a level 10, no advantage.
      • For each additional level 10, each pokemon gains 1 extra level
      • 1 x lvl 10 + 3 x lvl 10 = +3 levels to each = 4 x lvl 14 pokemon (DOABLE!)
If numerous players take part in a battle, a loot roll will determine who the pokemon decides to trust. The loot roll will only be preformed by GM's.

  • RULE REGARDING DICE

When a GM requests a roll of you, you have a job to do the following:
    1. Post the relevant skill and stat (e.x. Stealth: 2) in it's own post.
    2. Roll a d20 using the built in dice system on iwaku. You must first post to access this, hence the individual post.
    3. DO NOT. EVER. DELETE A POST IN THE IC DURING A ROLL.

You will immediately get a 0 on the roll and fail. No excuses. If you "accidentally roll twice" I don't care. Leave them both. Your GMs have eyes and can see the rolls and will use the first. If you roll a d19, by accident, RE-ROLL. WE HAVE EYES.

Okay, now that that's over (no more bold red caps), I'm providing you with a simply reminder about rolls. If you have no points in a skill, you can still do a check, the crappy thing is that you need a 20 to succeed. So, good luck.
1 SP means you need a 15+ to succeed.
2 SP means you need a 10+ to succeed.
3 SP means you need a 5+ to succeed.
Nothing more to it. If you have an item that boosts your roll, you add it after you've rolled, and you must also post that item in your rolling post. [ex: Perception: 2, +2 from Glittering Pendant. . . . roll comes out to a 9. +2. Success at 11.]

+Don't be an ass. Love each other.
    +Do as your GMs say.
+If we sense overpowered characters? We will end them. *evil laughter*
    +Maximum two characters
+No, you can't have a shiny, a legendary, a three stage pokemon, or a higher-than-two-levels pokemon at the start
+Posting requirements are one post per week, though we hope for more.
+If you try to rebel and make your char evil and ruin the plot? Your char will die.
+For all town/village creation, you must get the approval from a GM.
    +Don't be an ass.
    +Have Fun! <3

A rather isolated village, the surrounding pokemon has made them follow a spiritual warrior culture, many going into the mountains to train their body and have a psychic pokemon or two to help them train their mind. Because of the rough ground around them they live off mostly from the fish in their coastal shore, farms being only a small help and as such a reason for their relative small number. Not wanting to disrupt the balance around them, they keep a very strict limit to the amount of villagers in the village. As a ritual/sacrifice, every few hundred years (just so happens to be when they get a sudden influx of new children or otherwise more population) they exile a single child to explore the lands and bring glory for the village.

Town Map [20G]: "This is more than your basic town map. This one tells you where everything is. I've taken all the rumors of legendary pokemon and hidden treasure I've heard in my travels and stored it on this map!"
Jade Tokens [150G]: A rare set of three jade tokens, to be used at the Jade Palace in Everia to gain entry to the Sacred Groves. The Sacred Groves are holy gardens with healing herbs galore! It's U-Pick, so bring a basket!
Rare Pokemon Incense [150G]: If you light this incense, its scent will lure rare type pokemon to the area. Be prepared for an encounter! Some are stronger than others.
Glittering Pendant [800G]: The luck instilled in this pendant by a specific legendary, wish-maker pokemon, grants the wearer +2 on any skill check roll. It lasts about 15 rolls.

INTRODUCTION
Our adventure begins in a tavern, as all the best do. You arrived by your own means, of your own accord, after hearing that the barkeep here had a letter from a noble in the Gnomish Tinkerers District in Tartyri. It's said this letter contains information about the mutant pokemon that have broken free of the gnomish labs and crossed over the Silver Straight, spreading out across the mainland. The leaders of Theralune have all summoned forth heroes of every nation and race to assist in this now international terror. Despite the terror that has ensued, with rumors of forest fires, mass pokemon deaths, village destruction, and even abduction and murder, few know what they are facing. Few have ever caught a glimpse of the horrifying mutant pokemon.

At least, those on the outside know little. Those on the inside, however, might have a clue as to what Theralune faces. The letter was bought from a friend of a friend of a thief who may or may not have intercepted the information from a courier heading south from the Silver Straight. The barkeep has decided to open up his heart (and his coinpurse) to the heroes of Theralune who wish to read its contents. But he needs convincing. The sun is beginning to set and the night is long, you've plenty of time to try and convince the old dwarf, Hogrin, to part with the information. You look around and see that there are at least a handful of others who seem to have arrived for the purpose of reading the letter. Perhaps you can all work together?

happy_harpy_tavern_by_bogie_dj-d7gj8y7.jpg

All around you there are people of all races. Elves, dwarves, humans, even a gnome or two (likely a pair of merchants, since gnomes rarely leave their precious island for reasons of leisure). The barkeep is a thick, burly dwarf with a beard dragging lightly on the ground, painted a charcoal black like his hair. Both masses are braided intricately, but with a level of carelessness that tells you the braider has been doing it for several decades. He makes his way on his rounds through the bar, checking on his dainty, brunette barwench and the numerous long-legged servers, before heading back to a slightly more isolated round table near the entrance of the bar where he sips his ale and counts his gold.

The barwench, apparently named Tanera, from what you've heard around the bar, is dressed in a short, pale green dress with lacy frills at the end of the skirt and on the sleeves. Clearly human, she has well tanned skin and brown eyes, tired as can be. She doesn't seem to look impressed with the crowding of the bar on a Tuesday night, but what can she really do? She needs the coin.

Throughout the bar are three servers, one with curly brown hair, one with a thick mass of black hair, pulled back into a bun, and a single elf with long blonde hair tied back into a pony tail. Their names are unclear but they certainly seem a lot perkier than Tanera over there.

In the corner, a jolly, fat dwarf jangles and jams away on the piano, playing uplifting, traditional dwarven music which stands as a hallmark of "The Tuneful Tankard." The pair of gnomes sit close to the piano, lounging in colorful chairs by the hearth and chattering quietly to each other. A large group of men take up three or four of the more central tables and numerous other groups of individuals take up most the other center tables. The border tables seem clear for the most part, save a few quite couples enjoying an evening date. The bar is filled with drunk soliders, off the clock, of course, and numerous older men that seem to be dedicated patrons to the bar, minding their business while having drinks regularly sent their way by Tanera.

The kitchens are emitting a delightful smell and if you peek in the doors, you'll see a young human male moving about and working alongside another dwarf, who seems to know what he's doing. The bar is loud, but luckily, not too much to handle.

Drinking Check (That I kinda hope to fail)
13+ Success

"Prize you say?" Itotia's ears perked up at the thought of receiving something from a simple thing as drinking something. Knowing her luck it was going to be something bad, but in the end a gift is a gift. "I drink all. Then I get prize?" She picked up the glass, staring at it and wondering what exactly was in it. Well, who cares? I bet it's something good! "Deal!" She shouted, as she brought the liquid to her lips...

She took a drink bordering around two seconds, then the taste truly hit her as she felt a certain kick to the drink. Her tongue and mouth felt like they were burning as she spits out what didn't go into her throat. "Poison?!" She shouted out, dropping the glass as it made a mess on the counter. She looked at the human with slight worry in her eyes.

Suddenly, those same eyes started to become slightly lidded, her light skinned face turning a tinge red. A dumb smile, if not a grin, appeared on her face as she stared at the tavernwench. "W-Win? Did I win?" She said, speaking in both common and elven without realizing it. One thing she did realize though, is that this lady wasn't too bad looking. Not. Bad. At all.

"Not at all. I was just looking for someone to chat with." answered Daisuke to the diminutive girl. "My name is Daisuke Kobayashi. And like you, I am in possession of Pokemon as well." Daisuke gestured to his Pokemon behind him before vaguely looking in the direction of the gnome girl's own Pokemon. Merry giggled, twirled, and did a curtsey in the air, while Lucius gave a polite deep bow.

"I'm not the greatest with biology. I know that fluffy one with the big ears is a Teddiursa, but I don't recognize the other one."
[/fieldbox]

The green-haired elf took her first long sip and continued on until the mighty drink neared its end. However, as she did so, her face seemed to take on a tone matching her hair, and a large portion of the beverage returned from the depths of her stomach. Luckily, Tanera seemed to have expected this and had produced a large, wooden pail for the elf to use while the bar keep laughed hysterically. "Oh gods," she cackled, "I haven't had a night like this in months! You're a champ, She-elf. That try definitely deserves a prize."

She reaches into her pocket and retrieves a dark stone, the color of a late evening. "Here, it's all yours. Careful on your way, She-elf."

You got one Leaf Stone!

Kira smiled a little bigger as she watched the cute ghost pokemon twirling about next to the human man.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Kobayashi." She moved to hold her hand out to shake it and faltered as he went into a bow. Oh goodness, humans and their strange customs! For a moment the blodne fretted before she simply popper up and stood int eh seat of the bar stool and bowed back.

"My name is Kira Saliar, and this pink Pokemon is a Spritzee, her name is Spira, and the teddiursa is Luna." She straightened up then let herself pop back down, legs swinging a little bit, almost childishly as she sat., her smile returning full force. "We'd love to chat." She chirped at him. Luna waving from behind her and Spira hopping to the side and tilting her head slightly to look the newcomers over before turning away. Kira gestured at the empty bar stool near her.

"Are you perhaps an adventurer?" She inquired, head tilting the slightest bit. Then her hands clapped together a little bit. "Oh! are you perhaps hear to maybe read the letter to?" She asked, jumping straight to the point.

[fieldbox=The Mercenary Arrives, darkred]Being a mercenary wasn't always as glorious of a life as it might have been believed by others, but it kept him alive, at least until it killed him. Krios was just coming off from a job babysitting some merchant's brat kid, making sure they weren't killed on their way to Lavellia with a wagon full of expensive goods when he'd heard of the task being offered up at a tavern called The Tuneful Tankard. He collected his payment and headed on to the next job he'd be taking.

It took a while for him to reach the place, but when he did, he was greeted with a sight that immediately made him feel at home. Crowds of humans gambling, gnomes chattering, dwarves romping, everything a good tavern needed. Immediately upon entering he headed for the humans gathered around. He could get the information on the job later. To start things off, he wanted to relax, have a good time, get drunk, and with any luck, make some money.

"Hello, Gentlemen." He said as he approached the them, hood still up. "I don't suppose you're up for a new player are you?"[/fieldbox]

The elf took the stone, but she was way too drunk to figure out what it was. "Prize, nice..." All Itotia could feel was a weird feeling all over her body, but all she could see was an ever more attractive looking lady standing right in front of her. "Other prize. Want." She stated, staring at her intently, a drunken grin widening ever so much on her face. She took two steps closer to the lady, but then her body felt a new feeling, a vomit-y feeling.

Quickly she grabbed the bucket and ran to an empty table, bringing the very convenient bucket to her face and letting it all out. After a mild chuck or two, she took her head down to the table, trying her best to figure out whats wrong with her, but more importantly what she wants to do to that bar wench.

Wait... why did I even walk up to her again...

The ruckus of five or so men standing in the center of the bar only grew louder with each toss of the dice onto the wooden surface between their large mugs of brew, yells of both victory and defeat bellowing out from their bellies as they gave toasts to the fine ladies of the bar as well as the current loser who had bet against the winning dice. It seemed to be nothing more than a simple game of sevens, and yet they were having the time of their lives.

Upon the interruption of the lad with the hood, the burliest of the men, his black hair tied back into a messy ponytail with a thick beard stained with whatever he had been drinking that night, turned to look at him with a massive grin. "Aye, we're always up fer new meat! Tell us, lad, what's yer name?"

[fieldbox="Daisuke Kobayashi"]
"Yes, I am. To both questions." answered Daisuke. The little gnome girl was a curious thing. He seen gnomes before, but they had all been males with their beards, and were generally a lot more scheming. And frankly, they just looked like tiny old men. The girl named Kira was different than her kinsmen. She was about the size of a human child and could easily be mistaken for one, but was able to converse just like an adult. In fact, Daisuke suspected from her strong grammar and vocabulary that she might be a scholar of some sort. Certainly, more well learnt than a thief like himself. Daisuke continued to make small talk with Kira until he noticed a bar wench that has quietly been look in their direct for the past few minutes.

"Well, if you would excuse me, Miss Kira." said Daisuke as he excused himself from the bar stool. He casually walked over to the side of the bar where the tavern wench had been cleaning a table, a bit too slowly. "Hey there, miss. I noticed your eyes were staring at me for a bit too long. Did I do something to offend your sweet face?"

Kira chatted with the tall dark haired human for awhile and bid him farewell as he walked away. Perhaps she'd see him later. The small gnome looked over at her pokemon, whom she had divided the honey between, then back out among the crowd. Her eyes once again catching on the two gnomish gentlemen int he tavern. They looked lonely in the sea of giants. With that, Kira bounced down and looked back up at her pokemon, giving them both stern instructions to stay put as she made her way towards the other short figured folks, dodging legs as they came into view.

A smile slid over her lips again as she adjusted her glasses and approached the table the pair of gnomes sat at.

"Hello!" She greeted in gnomish as she pulled herself up into one of the empty chairs at the table, smile still in place as she got closer to their level. "My name is Kira Saliar, and I saw the two of you over here and was wondering what brings you gentlemen out here?" She paused again "Would you mind awful much if I sought company with you for a time?" She continued on in gnomish.

"Hey there, miss. I noticed your eyes were staring at me for a bit too long. Did I do something to offend your sweet face?"

The sound of the man's voice immediately annoyed the tired barkeep. Her high of excitement from the drunken she-elf's antics had worn off and she was back to being tired, stressed, and miserably awaiting the end of her shift. Standing up and flipping her bar towel over one of her shoulders, she turned to speak to him. "Seems to me you might need your eyes checked, champ. I wasn't staring at you one bit. Now do you need anything or can I get back to work?"

Looks like she's not in the mood for sweet talking.

OPTIONAL: ROLL A DIPLOMACY CHECK TO SEE IF YOU CAN GET THIS CONVERSATION BACK ON TRACK

[fieldbox="Daisuke Kobayashi"]
"Oh? My mistake then. The far wall must be really entertaining for you then. Probably more interesting than cleaning this table right here." answered Daisuke. The thief had hoped to gather more information with the tavern wench. Tavern wenches are always one of the best sources of information because everyone talks while they're nearby, or better yet... men told them things while flirting. Daisuke had just hoped he would be to charm this woman.
[/fieldbox]

The pair looked up at the young gnome and smiled warmly, standing and bowing as she took a seat at their table. "Indeed, young lady. We can't and shan't turn down one of our own. Allow me to introduce myself," said the elder of the two, "my name is Gomy. This is my companion Haldren. I'm a merchant myself. Haldren lives here, if you can imagine!" A kind smile was offered before the old gnome gestured at a plate of finger food they had bee nibbling on. "Help yourself, child. What are you doing here, anyways? A young gnome like you ought to be back on the island!"

"The city isn't all that bad, Gomy. If you spent a little more time here you'd grow as fond of it as I."

The elder laughed a bright and hearty laugh. "I daresay I doubt that, friend! Too much time among the larger folk makes me dizzy. Besides, what good is a wandering merchant that sits still!" The pair laughed together before drinking from their tankards and looking to the young she-gnome for her take on the city.

As the man spoke, Tanera grew from annoyed to angry. "As a matter of fact, I would rather stare at a wall than listen to you ramble on. Now, bugger off before I get Hogrin out here to see you out." She cast him a sharp glance and stormed away.

That didn't go so well! Looks like you could use some practice talking to the ladies. Don't fret though, she's not the only lady that works here!

[fieldbox="Daisuke Kobayashi"]
You win some, you lose some, thought Daisuke. He politely bowed to the tavern wench like a duelist admitting defeat, and backed away from the woman. At least Daisuke didn't spend any resources or tried bribing her with money or something else. It was unfortunate that he wasn't able to work his charms, and frankly Daisuke was better at lying and bluffing than straight talking. He heard some men shouting in the other side of the room, and turned his head.

He saw a male figured cloaked with a hood near a bunch of other tavern patrons. They were the group of people that had been gambling the entire time. Gambling. Daisuke was a decent gambler, he had a solid straight face and very nimble hands. Be it cards or dice, Daisuke knew how to cheat. He slowly approached the gambling group, and simply watched. Daisuke thought about putting on a face of fascination and innocence. It would make him look like some dumb young man never gambled in his life. However, he was here to read that letter. Surely, it wasn't worth a big job to scam a few coins off these patrons.

[fieldbox=Let The Games Begin, darkred]"Krios, Krios Nephilim." He smiled from under his hood, "What're the stakes?"

Of all of the humans here, none of them looked particularly like they would be bothered by his appearance, so he lowered his hood, revealing his grey skin. Still, he was definitely one to hedge his bets. "I'm prepared to play big if you're all up for a bit of risk." He mentioned, his tone challenging but friendly, casually pulling his coin purse up from his side and tossing it from one hand to the other. He didn't need the money, and he figured that by expressing that he had money he was willing to lose, he'd be less likely to be turned away. Even more so, if he won, or lost, he could make allies out of this group and get some information out of them all.[/fieldbox]

As the evening bore on, Hogrin was left in peace to count his gold and eat his delicious roast pheasant. When he had filled his belly and his coinpurse felt heavy and full, he let out a loud burp, wiping the crumbs and oils from his beard before standing up and grabbing his bag of coin. He made his way to the front of the room, to where the hearth burned and cleared his throat, clapping his hands to silence Grimfel's music making.

"Now," he said in his deep, mighty voice, "I figure there's about a dozen of ye in here waiting to hear about this letter I've got in my pocket." At this, he reached into his pocket and retrieved that very letter. "I figure the lot of ya think yer heroes!" He laughed lightly, waving the letter around the room. "And maybe some of ya are! That's none of my business. But what is my business is the business of coin! And so I offer you a deal, of sorts. Step forward, young heroes, old heroes, brave and pitiful, whatever ye might be."

Evelyn was the first to rise and step forward, swiftly as a gnome in a workshop, she wove her way from her seat, through the busy tavern, and up to the front of the room. She held Faera in her arms and Xyrn followed shortly behind, scoping out the other visitors to the Tuneful Tankard. As the fair-skinned elf stepped forward, she offered a low bow, as was common among her kind. She spoke quietly and kindly, not wishing to upset him. "I am Evelyn Saelel, of Myria, and I come seeking the knowledge held within your letter. Of what deal do you speak, kind bar-master?"

He smiled, the spokes of the wheel of coin turning within his gaze. "Aye lass, I welcome ya to the City of Man!" He nodded then, to one of his barwenches that stood at his side. She leaned over and handed him a bag, a roll of parchment, and a wet quill. "Just sign here and you'll gain access to the contents of this letter and the contents of this bag. Think of it as an investment. I help you get started and when you conquer the mutants, you pay me back. Plus interest of course."

Evelyn cocked a brow at this. It was suspicious to her. But then, everything was suspicious to her in this strange, foreign city. "Well... what if I don't stop the mutants?" After all, she wasn't sure she'd actually accomplish what he was expecting her to. She was only one elf, wasn't she?

A deep, bellowing laughter brought forth his response. "Well you owe it back, young lady. Plus interest! Surely you've got some family somewhere. A bit of coin stashed away? This contract simply covers my right to collect what's owed. Surely you understand. It's just good business, dear."

Biting her lip, she realized she had little choice in the matter. She needed to know what was in that letter and the contents of the bag might help her out as well... slowly, hesitantly, she signed the dwarvish contract. Immediately after her last stroke, the old dwarf pushed the letter and the bag into her hands. "You have one minute to read it. You'll note that the contract prohibits you from sharing the information with anyone that hasn't already read it! Won't want to go breaking contract rules. Some mighty unhealthy consequences in there, as you know." With a wink, he gave her her minute and before she knew it, she was back in her seat, staring at a bag of goods, her two companions on either side of her.

"Well...." She shrugged, glancing at the two pokemon. "Should we open it..?"

After finishing her conversation up with the two gentlemen merchants, Kira excused herself from their presence after catching onto Luna getting antsy over by the bar with just Spira. The two seemed to be bickering. again. The short statured woman once again weaved through the area to reach them, climbing back up onto the bar stool and taking a crinkle nosed drink of the ale she'd ordered. Never again would she order ale. ever.

"What're you two goin on about now?" She asked them, pulling Spira down off of the bar and into her lap away from the sulking teddiursa. Luna, looking irritable began to point at the pink creature in Kira's arms, and chattering about in her native tongue, while Spira turned her face away from the other pokemon and all but lifted her nose into the air almost in a haughty fashion. Kira blinked and looked between the two, using one finger to push her glasses up the bridge of her nose as she tried to decipher just what the barrage of flailing arms and the repeated variations of teddursa actually meant.

"Someone needs to invent a machine to translate pokemon to people." She muttered under her breath before she began trying to calm down the irritable teddy bear pokemon.

The goings on of the tavern allowed the idle prince to settle himself into the bench and replace his final order of mead with a quarter loaf of bread to help settle his riled stomach. After a while of sitting there without much movement, Soran finally stopped his incessant whimpering towards the other Eevee and lay his head on crossed paws with a sigh, Zandara keeping her watchful gaze on anything and everything that moved throughout her field of vision. While Judas was not one to be so idle, he did enjoy the stillness that he had found himself in, glad that for once he was not back at the castle doing ridiculous things that didn't necessarily involve him. He quite enjoyed the music and the little tricks that were pulled by the witty – albeit grumpy – bartender on the elf maiden who didn't speak common tongue very well.

For what seemed like an hour or so, he waited for the elf maiden to rise and gather her courage to approach the old Hogrin to inquire about the letter. His wait finally came to an end when the dwarf finally stood and offered it out to anyone willing to take his deal. Of course, the maiden was the first to rise, carrying the little Eevee in her arms as though the creature was her comfort. Listening intently, he heard her mention her name upon bowing, and her polite demeanor amused the young prince enough to garner a small smirk from his lips beneath the hood. Of course, up to his usual tricks, Hogrin offered a contract that was, he imagined, written in dwarven tongue. The old bar master did things this way all of the time, and Jude had watched many men sink their fortunes into things they could not read.

Continuing to listen in, he heard most of what was said, a chuckle rising from deep within his chest. Typical dwarf trickery. He let out a sigh then, rolling his eyes and finishing his soft bread and the mead within his tankard before finally rising from his seat and removing his hood, giving a small whistle for both of his companions to rise to their feet. Immediately, Zandara took up her post on his left, Soran coming to rest at his right. Together, they wove their way to the front, and he spoke directly to the old dwarf with a smile. "Evening, Hogrin. I see you're as busy as ever. Guess the rumors I heard were true about this letter, eh? Having poor people sign one of your contracts for it, are you?"

He was teasing, and this was of course played thoroughly in the way his words were spoken, lighthearted and almost playful. A wink was thrown the dwarf's way before the prince's face turned back to a soberer look. "Do I get a few moments to read this contract of yours? Or at least attempt to. With how many dwarven dialects there are, I couldn't possibly know them all." This, of course, would be the first time since his coming to the Tuneful Tankard that he had asked to look over a contract. He gave a slight smile, implying that he was truly serious about his inquiry, and waited patiently for Hogrin's response.

Itotia's small drunken rest was quickly over as she heard the small human tell them about the letter. She walked, at least the best that she could, over to the small group of people around the place she needed to be. Apparently they all needed to sign some paper called a contract to be a part of this or something. Hah, I know how to write! I bet that's going to leave out the barbarians at least. She thought triumphantly, not realizing she herself could probably be called one. She waited patiently behind the people who got there first, at least for a few seconds before pushing her way to the front. "Small man, I sign paper. Give me bag." She called out as she scribbled down what she thinks would be her name in common. On the contract showed, "Itotia the Barbarian". I don't get this "common" language, I'd figure a name as short as mine would be written with much less letters.

Sure, she knew what a barbarian was, but that didn't mean she knew how it was written. Regardless, once she gets a hold of her own bag she was going to open it and figure out what was inside of it.

[fieldbox=Breaking Even With Good Odds, darkred]Krios had, despite his best efforts, managed to more or less maintain a balance of the money, which he couldn't decide he felt it was a good thing, or absolutely frustrating. Regardless, he expected he would find better uses for the money during the job. If a contract was what was required, he knew that the rumours were all quite likely to be accurate about this being a well paying job. He didn't bother reading it, or waiting for an explanation as the human did, he simply moved forward after the barbarian and signed his name before returning to his seat, watching how the others would react. The job would either require him to work with these people, or against them for a prize, and either side of the coin required him to have at least a basic understanding of how they behaved.[/fieldset][/fieldbox]
