  • Welcome, to Theralune.

  • w06iwz.jpg
Theralune has long been a nation of relative peace. Civil war, rebellion, and crime plague its past, as for any nation, but no great calamities have tarnished its history. However, rumors have been spreading of curious experiments taking place on the northern island of Komiir, home of the ever-tinkering gnomes. They say they’ve been experimenting with genetic mutations in pokemon, working to create a powerful force to aid in the advancement of Theralune. Unfortunately, the gnomes were not prepared to control what they created and now, word spreads of a mighty beasts ravaging the lands, growing, feeding, and reproducing. It is not yet known what this creature is, but the king of the gnomes has summoned the greatest heroes from across the lands to combine their efforts into tracking it down, and defeating it. There’s loot in it for all, but more than that, the threat, if left unmanaged, could mean destruction for all.

    2cxjc6c.jpg

In an adventure of pokemon, high fantasy, and table-top feels, you and your team will work together to stop this mutated beast from overrunning the lands. Play as an elf, a dwarf, a human, or a gnome, and venture out into a world filled with pokemon to track down the mutant and talk some sense into the pesky, meddling royal gnome tinkerers. This isn't a gym-based story, nor is it a classic ten-year-old-on-a-journey tale. No, this is a grand, fantasic adventure. Our story begins, in a tavern, as all the best do.

  • 2uhsphs.jpg

Combat is based on a simple level system explained below:
    • Common pokemon can level up to level 10.
    • Rare pokemon can level up to level 15
    • Legendaries can level up to level 20
    • Type advantages add +2 levels to any pokemon, for that battle
    • Type disadvantages remove -2 levels from any pokemon for that battle
Any pokemon can enter into a battle with a pokemon up to 1 level above it, once all calculations have been done. There are three tiers of battle: easy, medium, and hard. This will be explained using a lvl 5 fire type.
    • Easy: Pokemon BELOW your pokemon’s level (ex: =/<4, with advantage, =/<6)
    • Medium: Pokemon at an EQUAL level to your pokemon’s (ex: =5, with advantage =7)
    • Hard: Pokemon ONE LEVEL ABOVE your pokemon’s. (ex: =/>6, with advantage, =/>8)
In each battle, the difficulty will indicate which roll you need to be successful. Required rolls are as follows:
    • Easy: =/>5 on d20
    • Medium: =/> 10 on d20
    • Hard: =/>15 on d20
To go after pokemon of higher levels, such as legendaries, you will need to utilize a teamwork method called “Stacking.” This means you utilize numerous pokemon of the same level to gain additional levels for each. For example:
    • Facing a level 15 Legendary with a level 10, no advantage.
      • For each additional level 10, each pokemon gains 1 extra level
      • 1 x lvl 10 + 3 x lvl 10 = +3 levels to each = 4 x lvl 14 pokemon (DOABLE!)
If numerous players take part in a battle, a loot roll will determine who the pokemon decides to trust. The loot roll will only be preformed by GM’s.

  • 2rem9h2.jpg
At the beginning of the roleplay, each player may bring with them up to two pokemon. All additional pokemon will be kept at home and may be transferred whenever they so choose, but these transferred pokemon are subject to travel time, leaving the player with a one pokemon deficit for the time of the exchange. As they advance as rangers, players maximum party size will increase.

Pokemon have up to three evolutions. Those with only two are considered “common pokemon” and evolve at level 5. Pokemon with three evolutions are considered rare pokemon and they evolve at levels 5 and 10. Legendary pokemon do not evolve.
Common: Max lvl: 10, evolves at lvl 5
Rare: Max lvl: 15, evolves at lvl 5 and lvl 10
Legendary: Max lvl: 20, does not evolve

    RANGER ABILITY
Ranger ability determines the capability of each player as a companion to the pokemon. A ranger with a low ability level won’t be trusted or seen as worthy by higher level pokemon. Ranger ability is increased throughout the roleplay via “Ranger Ability Events” which allow the potential of the ranger to increase. If a ranger has a pokemon companion trying to level, the level will be held dormant until the ranger can increase his or her ability. This means that if you cannot increase your ranger ability, you will not lose pokemon levels.
    • RA 1 = pkmn 2
    • RA 2 = pkmn 4
    • RA 3 = pkmn 6
    • RA 4 = pkmn 8
    • RA 5 = pkmn 10
    • RA 6 = pkmn 12
    • RA 7 = pkmn 14
    • RA 8 = pkmn 16
    • RA 9 = pkmn 18
    • RA 10 = pkmn 20
Each pokemon will begin with FOUR moves in their moveset. At level 5, they gain an additional move, and continue to do so until their peak level, with the exception of gaining two moves at levels 10, 15, and 20.

Daisuke Kobayashi

Daisuke is a tall and well-built (6’0’’, 165 lbs) young man that looks like he regularly engages in physical activity. He has medium black hair that is dangerously close to covering his eyes, while not quite long enough to warrant a visit to the hair salon. His eyes are a dirty shade of yellow that reminds people of a wild cat. Daisuke tends to favor stylish button-up shirts, a waistcoat, and long trousers, which unfortunately he often ruins in a variety of ways: popping his collar, not tucking in his shirt, and having his sleeves partly rolled up. Furthermore, you smell the slight unmistakable aroma of tobacco around him. Well, if you haven’t already seen him smoking.

Cigarette can be a smoking pipe instead of the setting doesn't have cigarettes.

AGE: 20
RACE: Human
GENDER: Male
HOMETOWN: Komdumar
OCCUPATION: Thief
PERSONALITY IN 5 WORDS: "Thief With A Heart of Gold"
BRIEF HISTORY:
The Kobayashi family was originally belonged to a merchant guild. While, they were never wealthy, they were able to enjoy a comfortable life. When Daisuke turned 8 years old, his parents were backstabbed in a trade deal and left with a heavy debt. The Kobayashi family came onto hard times, and were forced to join the thieves' guild. Daisuke was forced to work at a young age as a street urchin and pickpocket.

Although, Daisuke had planned to pick up his parents' profession as a merchant, he found himself being quite talented and proficient as a thief. The thieves' guild's mentors were all surprised and happy how quickly he learned how to pick pockets and locks after only a short period of time. He also became skilled in hiding and shadowing others without being noticed. However, Daisuke's best talent was lying. The older members of the guild realized that the young boy was one of those people that had virtually no tells when lying. By the age of 15, Daisuke was already considered a full member of the thieves' guild.

Years past, and Daisuke continued to perform jobs for the thieves' guild. While, he was no doubt one of their better and younger members, Daisuke's poor attitude and relationships with the guild's leaders that he developed over the years often prevented him from advancing in the ranks. He had also been sent on a large number of risky jobs. This forced Daisuke to pick up more skill sets to maintain his survival as a thief. He had learned how to fight over the years through both personal, often painful experiences and trained under mercenaries when he had to spare gold.

Daisuke came into possession of his first Pokemon when he was around 18 years old. He encountered a Misdeavus in one of his jobs in an abandoned manor of a recently decreased baron. Like most of the ghost Pokemon's species, the Misdeavus enjoyed pranking and scaring humans. Through some clever actions, and a bit of luck, Daisuke had managed to befriend the Misdeavus, which he named Merry. Since then, Merry has always been by Daisuke's side, providing him with supernatural assistance than is beyond humans. For a thief like Daisuke, having someone who could float through walls was certainly a great new asset. Even if he had to live with Merry's bratty younger sister like antics.

About a year ago, Daisuke rescued an illegal ring fighting and abused Riolu named Lucius. Or rather, he conned his owner out of it. Although, Lucius appreciated his change in ownership, he had disliked Daisuke's methods of doing things, and often butted heads with his owner. It would take a particularly life-threatening mission from both of them before Lucius slowly warmed up to Daisuke.

With an impressive skillset as a thief, a long history of successful missions, and a personal retinue of two Pokemon, Daisuke had became to outclass most thieves that were his senior. The thieves' guild had recently received as request to have one of their members sent off to an adventuring mission. What better person to send than their talented but bratty young rising star to the task?

STRENGTHS:

Charismatic - As someone who was born into a merchant family, and later joined a thieves' guild, Daisuke had all of hife life to watch, learn, and practice the art of conversation.

Attentive - Years of being a member of the thieves' guild had left Daisuke constantly listening to his senses around his surrounding area.

Mentally Nimble - Daisuke rarely lets his mind wander on things, and generally stays focused at the task at hand.

WEAKNESSES:

Sharp tongue - When Daisuke dislikes someone, he often wants to let that person know.

Morally flexible - Daisuke isn't generally picky on the method that he has to use to get something done as long as it's done. He doesn't mind lying or cheating to do so. However, he does have a hard limit: innocent women and children.

Doesn't respond well to authority - Daisuke likes to snark back at authority figures that he believes doesn't deserve to wield said authority in the first place.

Addictive personality - Daisuke is someone who can easily get addicted to things, and quickly grows to depend on them to ease stress. He avoids alcohol for the most part as it dulls his body and mind. As a result, Daisuke is a huge tobacco smoker.

Slow to Trust - Daisuke finds it hard to trust people completely, and generally doesn't open his heart to more than a select few. Many people might find him disingenuous, and they are often correct.

SKILLS:

Acrobatics - 1
Bluff - 1
Sleight of Hand - 2
Stealth - 1

Straight face - Daisuke is talented at keeping a straight face, and lying to most people right in front of them. He has further honed his talent over the years conning others.

Sleight of hand - It is imperative that a thief is to be able to have dexterous fingers that can acquire things quietly. Daisuke learned how to pick pocket and steal things at a young age as a street urchin.

Lock-picking - All good thieves know that doors and locks don't truly stop the most skilled and determined of them from getting what they want. Daisuke is no exception.

Stealth - While, many skills are important for a thief, not being caught is probably the most vital of them all. Daisuke had to learn this one through years of practice, and had suffered many beatings and nights in prison when he failed.

Running away - Daisuke had learned that sometimes you get caught, and then the most important skill becomes running away and not getting caught. Daisuke regularly practices running, sprinting, climbing, and all sorts to make sure his body is always ready to run.

Basic unarmed and dagger combat training - Daisuke decided to seriously learn know to fight both unarmed and with a dagger. Daisuke isn't particularly talented at combat, but his stature often gives him an advantage. Although, with years of training that came with broken bones, bleeding, and swollen faces. Daisuke had also personally invested gold to learn from mercenaries.

No, that's really alright haha. You grabbed him first. I will find another Pokemon to replace

You cans have a Riolu, too, RestlessComfort. It's no big deal.

There can only be one *evil laughter*

@RestlessComfort I really don't mind. I just picked something that had 2 evolutions and would act to be a foil to Daisuke's personality. I wanted a Pokemon that would be annoyed at how he acts.

It's really OK :) I was joking around haha. I don't mind. I have always had a Lucario in these Pokemon Roleplays so, might be interesting having a different Pokemon

Quick question. Do baby pokemon count as one evolutionary stage? So, for example, I wanted to have Marill on my team, but it has a baby evolution before that called Azurill. Does Marill count as a 3 step evolutionary pokemon?

Name:
Gaelin Sylvari

Appearance:
Standing at 6ft tall, 172 lbs, Gaelin is average height for an elf. His eyes are an enchanting shade of green and his hair is a soft, chocolate brown. Gaelin's body is muscular, yet toned. Being an elf in his settlement requires a lot of manual labor, and it shows in Gaelin's physical appearance.

Age:
30

Race:
Elf

Gender:
Male

Hometown:
Feldren

Occupation:
Partial Healer/Rehabilitator, partial congregation leader

PERSONALITY IN 5 WORDS:
Caring, complicated, trusting, mysterious, loyal

Brief History:
As a child, Gaelin was always immensely happy and carefree. His positivity was utterly infectious to everyone around him, regardless of age. This was partly because of how deeply his parents cared for him, but mostly, it stemmed from a sense of ignorance. Because his father lead the settlement they were apart of, Gaelin was sheltered by his parents most of his life. As a result, he was never forced to deal with anything from the real world, thus making him very unprepared for life on his own. Shortly after his 16th birthday, as was customary in his settlement, Gaelin set off on his own to decide what he would do with his life. After a few months of soul searching in the forest, Gaelin finally decided he was to become a powerful elven warrior, and he was to do so through Pokemon training. The peers from his settlement called him crazy for pursuing such a childish dream, but he didn't care. The positivity of his youth had been an intrical part of who he was, and he wasn't going to let some bad vibes stop him. With a purpose and loving family backing him, Gaelin was happy and content -- until one winter night.

Shortly after his 26th birthday, Gaelin had planned a surprise for his parents. Exactly 10 years from the day he left to pursue his dream, he decided he would come back to his old settlement and see his parents again. The journey was long and treacherous, but eventually, Gaelin finally reached the settlement. He excitedly swung the front doors open, only to find his father and mother missing. Worriedly, Gaelin began asking around the village, trying to find information to his parents whereabouts. No matter where he went or who he asked, everyone dodged his questions and gave him very vague answers. It wasn't until he asked a young elven boy that Gaelin got his answer. They had both passed away a year earlier, leaving the settlement with no leader and no will to prosper. The happiness and positivity of his youth was torn from him, along with his dreams of ever seeing his parents again and making them proud. Inspired by their memory, Gaelin took over his father's throne and is now the leader of his elven settlement. Ever since that day, Gaelin has become a different person. He is now quiet and detached, stoic more so than sociable. Some say he still has that kindness and fire in his heart, but for the last 4 years, he sure has not shown it.

His father's stories of creatures who spit fire and emitted noxious fumes had always intrigued him.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:
Detached, impulsive, narrow-minded, overcritical, stubborn.

Skills:
Sleight of hand, ranged weaponry, medium-length blades, stealth, athleticism, hunting, mount riding.

Okay, I think this weekend, once I'm done this hellish first week of work, Mowkie and I will go through all CS's and accept or reject, we'll post the abilities list once we get it, and I'll accumulate a collection of each of the characters and make them each an Assets table system in the first post to keep track of everything. I will also be making each of you a simple team image to use IC if you so choose, like this one. It'll be stashed the sticky post of the IC and this thread as a quick recap of all player levels and teams.

Mowkie and I will keep these updated as your characters progress. We will also be keeping track of all this stuff:

Char Ranger Ability Level (top left of image)
Current Team (bottom)
Team Levels (Numbers in team boxes)
Inventory
Gold
Exp

Questions?

Oh, and we also decided that the youngest any char can be is 18. Because that's what we're comfortable with and that's just, kind of the standard for our RP's.

Oh there is someone that already has a Zorua? I'll edit

CHARACTER
NAME: Itotia

CF 318.jpg

AGE: 18
RACE: Elf
GENDER: Female

HOMETOWN: Dahlia'Ammum
Location:
54018fc7d9.jpg

Size: A small area housing exactly 193 people at any given time.

Details: A rather isolated village, the surrounding pokemon has made them follow a spiritual warrior culture, many going into the mountains to train their body and have a psychic pokemon or two to help them train their mind. Because of the rough ground around them they live off mostly from the fish in their coastal shore, farms being only a small help and as such a reason for their relative small number. Not wanting to disrupt the balance around them, they keep a very strict limit to the amount of villagers in the village. As a ritual/sacrifice, every few hundred years (just so happens to be when they get a sudden influx of new children or otherwise more population) they exile a single child to explore the lands and bring glory for the village.

OCCUPATION: Tribal Warrior / Drifter

PERSONALITY IN 5 WORDS: Proud, Warrior, Improper, Boastful, Naive

BRIEF HISTORY: Due to the arrival of twins disrupting the village's balance, Itotia was selected at the young age of 12 to partake in the honor of leaving the village to bring glory to them all. She partook in a 6 year journey that more often than naught led to being backstabbed multiple times, never really obtaining honor nor making much money. Now just recently hitting the age of 18, she finds herself in Kondumar, looking for some way to once again obtain honor.

STRENGTHS: Brave, Energetic, Determined, Perceptive

WEAKNESSES: Naive to the world, loud-mouthed, extremely bad with the language, quick to trust

SKILLS: Archery, First Aid, Dancing, Hunting

TEAM
+POKEMON ONE+
NAME: N/A (Itotia believes they should grow strong enough to earn a name first)

PERSONALITY IN 5 WORDS: Energetic, Stubborn, Free Spirited, Anxious
PLACE MET: The plains of lower Myria

Sunny Day

Hey dear GMs,

I am almost done with Daisuke's character sheet, as I just finished his 'brief' history. I need a large city or town that has a lot of trade, and a relatively large criminal underbelly. Somewhere, that something like a thieves' guild can exist.

I also have a question regarding 'breed' under the Pokemon section. I'm not too sure what you mean by that.

Just read the breeds on other CS's to get an idea. It's very minor appearance tweaking for the Pokemon to make it more yours.

As for the city, I'd say Komdumar. Trade with both elves and gnomes and it's welcome to all races, though governed by humans.
