  • Welcome, to Theralune.

  • w06iwz.jpg
Theralune has long been a nation of relative peace. Civil war, rebellion, and crime plague its past, as for any nation, but no great calamities have tarnished its history. However, rumors have been spreading of curious experiments taking place on the northern island of Komiir, home of the ever-tinkering gnomes. They say they've been experimenting with genetic mutations in pokemon, working to create a powerful force to aid in the advancement of Theralune. Unfortunately, the gnomes were not prepared to control what they created and now, word spreads of a mighty beasts ravaging the lands, growing, feeding, and reproducing. It is not yet known what this creature is, but the king of the gnomes has summoned the greatest heroes from across the lands to combine their efforts into tracking it down, and defeating it. There's loot in it for all, but more than that, the threat, if left unmanaged, could mean destruction for all.

    2cxjc6c.jpg

In an adventure of pokemon, high fantasy, and table-top feels, you and your team will work together to stop this mutated beast from overrunning the lands. Play as an elf, a dwarf, a human, or a gnome, and venture out into a world filled with pokemon to track down the mutant and talk some sense into the pesky, meddling royal gnome tinkerers. This isn't a gym-based story, nor is it a classic ten-year-old-on-a-journey tale. No, this is a grand, fantasic adventure. Our story begins, in a tavern, as all the best do.

  • 2uhsphs.jpg

Combat is based on a simple level system explained below:
    • Common pokemon can level up to level 10.
    • Rare pokemon can level up to level 15
    • Legendaries can level up to level 20
    • Type advantages add +2 levels to any pokemon, for that battle
    • Type disadvantages remove -2 levels from any pokemon for that battle
Any pokemon can enter into a battle with a pokemon up to 1 level above it, once all calculations have been done. There are three tiers of battle: easy, medium, and hard. This will be explained using a lvl 5 fire type.
    • Easy: Pokemon BELOW your pokemon's level (ex: =/<4, with advantage, =/<6)
    • Medium: Pokemon at an EQUAL level to your pokemon's (ex: =5, with advantage =7)
    • Hard: Pokemon ONE LEVEL ABOVE your pokemon's. (ex: =/>6, with advantage, =/>8)
In each battle, the difficulty will indicate which roll you need to be successful. Required rolls are as follows:
    • Easy: =/>5 on d20
    • Medium: =/> 10 on d20
    • Hard: =/>15 on d20
To go after pokemon of higher levels, such as legendaries, you will need to utilize a teamwork method called "Stacking." This means you utilize numerous pokemon of the same level to gain additional levels for each. For example:
    • Facing a level 15 Legendary with a level 10, no advantage.
      • For each additional level 10, each pokemon gains 1 extra level
      • 1 x lvl 10 + 3 x lvl 10 = +3 levels to each = 4 x lvl 14 pokemon (DOABLE!)
If numerous players take part in a battle, a loot roll will determine who the pokemon decides to trust. The loot roll will only be preformed by GM's.

  • 2rem9h2.jpg
At the beginning of the roleplay, each player may bring with them up to two pokemon. All additional pokemon will be kept at home and may be transferred whenever they so choose, but these transferred pokemon are subject to travel time, leaving the player with a one pokemon deficit for the time of the exchange. As they advance as rangers, players maximum party size will increase.

Pokemon have up to three evolutions. Those with only two are considered "common pokemon" and evolve at level 5. Pokemon with three evolutions are considered rare pokemon and they evolve at levels 5 and 10. Legendary pokemon do not evolve.
Common: Max lvl: 10, evolves at lvl 5
Rare: Max lvl: 15, evolves at lvl 5 and lvl 10
Legendary: Max lvl: 20, does not evolve

    RANGER ABILITY
Ranger ability determines the capability of each player as a companion to the pokemon. A ranger with a low ability level won't be trusted or seen as worthy by higher level pokemon. Ranger ability is increased throughout the roleplay via "Ranger Ability Events" which allow the potential of the ranger to increase. If a ranger has a pokemon companion trying to level, the level will be held dormant until the ranger can increase his or her ability. This means that if you cannot increase your ranger ability, you will not lose pokemon levels.
    • RA 1 = pkmn 2
    • RA 2 = pkmn 4
    • RA 3 = pkmn 6
    • RA 4 = pkmn 8
    • RA 5 = pkmn 10
    • RA 6 = pkmn 12
    • RA 7 = pkmn 14
    • RA 8 = pkmn 16
    • RA 9 = pkmn 18
    • RA 10 = pkmn 20
Each pokemon will begin with FOUR moves in their moveset. At level 5, they gain an additional move, and continue to do so until their peak level, with the exception of gaining two moves at levels 10, 15, and 20.

Whew! That's great then.

Might take a bit for my app by the way, my mind is kinda in scrambles currently due to recent events. (Mom being taken to the police station by my aunt and being blamed for a crime she had no involvement in)

We plan to keep it open for more new players for a little while after opening the IC, so everyone's good.

Mowkie's weekends are spent with family, so I'm not on nearly as often. My things will be updated before I do a post, so no one worry about me. XD

No one here is being rushed, just so you guys know. We like to remind you just in case you don't get notifications or to make sure you're still into this. But when we remind you to do something, we're not looking to force you into it right away. That's just no fun. So no stress! XD

Yup! No worries guys. Once we get to the IC we'll be at the tavern for a bit so if you can't start that exact same day, you'll be fine arriving a bit later. I might do a few events in the intro. Introduce the dice system, let players gamble a bit for some extra starting items

Lol it looks exactly like it did yesterday? For me at least. Can't see any changes or broken code

can i get a recommended place to type my character sheets up at? I have only the notes on my computer that i use, sorry for all the errors it was late at night for me.

I do mine all just on Iwaku

Doing the typing in a separate tab on Iwaku is your best bet, @Tank2Crate ~ WordPad and Notepad are just hassles.

Duplicates are perfectly fine. ^^

The man that Biron just approached and began to bother is the barkeep, sorry.

Oh, okay. I wasn't sure because you described him as having a woman next to him. That's fine! Just use defining statements like "a dwarf counting his gold" or "a black haired dwarf with braids, sitting in the corner" or something ^_^ all good

Blargh, sorry I'm so late. If anything's wrong with it, just yell at me, I can take it

[fieldbox=The Mercenary, darkred]NAME: Krios Raziel Nephilim
APPEARANCE:
Assassin.png
AGE: Human Equivalent of 23
RACE: Drow
GENDER: Male
HOMETOWN: Norander
OCCUPATION: Gambling Mercenary
PERSONALITY IN 5 WORDS: Easy-going, Free, Vicious, Quick, Cold
BRIEF HISTORY: The only time Krios has known stability was when he was a child living in Norander. Since then, he's always been on the move. His life became significantly more difficult when his parents died. He was technically old enough to get by on his own, but he had been left with nothing. No trade, no money, everything was lost in the fire that took his family. He spent three weeks living on the streets before his Uncle caught word of his parent's deaths and sent someone to recover him. It wasn't a long time, but it was long enough for him to learn how little people cared for the less fortunate. He spent, he believed, more time getting beaten by guards than he did anything else for those three weeks.

When his uncle collected him, he told him about his side of the family's business. They were a clan of mercenaries known as The Army of Darkness. He spent the next several years learning their trade, making his way with them before eventually splitting off, with his Uncle's blessing. He still did work with them from time to time, but for the most part he tried to get by on his own, working anything from protection details to spy work, to assassinations. Whatever came along at the time.

Now he's sitting in a bar, drinking and gambling his last payoff, and listening for his next one.

STRENGTHS:
  • Cultured: He's been here and there and everywhere, travelling for work, or for pleasure. As a result, he's picked up a bit from each area, and usually wherever he goes, someone knows him.
  • Warlord: He's never been a proper soldier, but he gets hired on for his outside perspectives, and his unique fighting style. He's known to never betray his employers, which has earned him a great deal of respect in certain circles.
  • Jaded: It takes a great deal to truly bother him, and he has little issue doing things that others would turn their noses down at. He does however, have a code he lives by, and will absolutely not kill children, unless they are attacking him and it cannot be avoided. So far it hasn't come up.
  • Shadow-Walker: As a Drow, he's already accustomed to the darkness, but he goes beyond that. His grey skin helps him blend in with the shadows, and he makes an excellent assassin or spy when it comes to it. As a result of this, he has developed a great degree of patience, and will stay in place for hours, waiting for the opportunity to come for him to act.
  • Tavern-Dweller: He drinks and gambles a lot, and he's come to believe that among all things, he is lucky first, and everything else after. He relies on his good fortune frequently to keep him out of trouble, and usually it does.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Numb: While having reduced pain sense is good for dealing with combat, it also comes with a penalty. He frequently finds new bruises, scrapes, and cuts on his body with no knowledge of how they got there. This is further made worse by his naturally weak immune system. As a result, he is sick a lot.
  • Light Sensitive: Being a Drow has advantages, being able to see well in the dark. They're not super well suited for the light though, and bright lights are a major problem for him, causing issues ranging from severe headaches and temporary blindness to as little as blurred vision.
  • Dark Foe: Something in his core just does not trust Fairy type pokemon, and he doubly distrusts people who use them almost exclusively. He also has a strong distaste for bug types, though there are one or two that he doesn't mind as much.
  • Mr. Heat Miser: He is completely comfortable in high temperatures, but can't stand to be below 70 degrees fahrenheit, and physically slows down at anything under 50.
  • Gambling: Even though he usually wins, if he starts to lose, he can't bring himself to stop. He might try new strategies, but he will never give up, even if it means he loses everything he owns.
  • Bottle-Bound: He's got a strong taste for alcohol, and while he's highly tolerant, when he isn't on a job, he's usually drinking.
DICE SKILLS:
  • Acrobatics: 1
  • Perception: 1
  • Stealth: 2
  • Bluff: 1
CHARACTER SKILLS
  • Ninja: While he dislikes the term, it's what he effectively is. He uses the shadows to his advantage, striking with precision and getting out as quickly as possible, or collecting information. When forced into combat, he uses a combination of his two swords, and his Rope Dart weapon to quickly dispatch his enemies.
  • Linguist: He's been around quite a few places. He knows his native Drow, the common Elven, as well as bits of dwarvish, but he hasn't come across enough gnomes to bother learning their language.
  • Be Prepared: When going into a new situation, he tries to cover all contingencies he can think of, and makes sure he has at least one good escape route.
Inventory
  • Rope Dart: Formally known as a Sheng Biao, this is a simple weapon made up of a length of rope twelve feet in length with a 'Dart' at its end, which looks more like an long arrowhead than a dart.
  • Twin Swords: A pair of Falcata, short swords that are designed for maximum cutting power.
  • Duffelbag: A high grade black duffelbag that can hold roughly 120 pounds of stuff.
  • Bottles: Several bottle of Whiskey, a couple of water, and a Bottle of Seviper Venom
  • Rations: Roughly two weeks of dried trail rations. Not particularly enjoyable, but it'll keep a person from starving.
  • Gambler's Kit: A briefcase looking box that holds three decks of cards, poker chips, a mini roulette wheel, Dice, Wooden Cups, and various other gambling tools.
  • Mysterious Ring: A Ring that he inherited when he was a child that has an insignia in it that he can't find any information on.
  • Water Purifier: A series of Pots and lids used to evaporate and catch the water to make it safe to drink.
  • Pocket Watch: A silver pocket watch with golden filigree patterned after a symbolic eye.
  • Climbing Claws: Not effective as weapons, but good climbing tools for getting into buildings or climbing trees, or whatever else might be necessary.
